Snowgrave Inspirations?

So we all know the Snowgrave route was inspired, or at least has the texture of being as such, by creepypastas in the sense a game is being broken and has an almost gestalt intelligence in its reaction to being so. Beyond specific references and such, what do y'all think specifically inspired it? I imagine shit like Ben Drowned and Godzilla NES factor in, but I want to provide a unique addition:

Persona 1, or more specifically, Revelations: Persona.

Some set dressing for the uninitiated: Persona 1 has two routes:

The main story is the SEBEC Route, which centers around the demon invasion and transformation of Mikage-cho as a result of the machinations and experiments of the shady SEBEC ("Saeki Electronics & Biological & Energy Corporation") and how one Maki Sonomura stands at the center of all this.

That's the story most experience, but there's a harder alternate route called the Snow Queen Quest, or SQQ for short. This route centers around the titular play which was performed at St. Hermelin High, the school of the game, and how the Snow Queen Mask came to be possessed with a vengeful spirit. But in order to activate this quest, you have to take a number of steps after leaving the school to visit Maki but before activating the SEBEC route, which most people do because of the natural flow of the story; while not the most cryptic or elaborate thing I've experienced, you definitely have to go out of your way in order to experience this part of the game.

While the SQQ is similarly hiemal as Snowgrave since the Queen freezes the school over and attempts to sacrifice a pivotal teacher to bring back the "Eternal Night," the main thing I want to talk about is:

The fact that in the original American release of the game, retitled Revelations: Persona, cut this alternate route out. Now, there's a lot to be said about this release of the game and P1 as a whole. For that, I highly recommend Snickety Slice's videos on it from his Compendium series of essays.

As Snickety Slice says in the SQQ portion of video 3A, which focuses on the American localization of the time, no one really knows why it was cut, by which is meant there is no definitive answer. The most popular theory, as he posits, is that this was done to meet the Christmas deadline, which is a tad ironic considering the atmosphere and setting of SQQ. However, you can actually access a tiny bit of it: if you return to the school, you'll see it's disappeared and when you enter it, an FMV of the school surrounded by three towers and a peak plays. Snickety remarks how confusing this must have been for American players at the time since the actual steps to activate the quest were cut out.

With cheats you can access it, but it's a glitchy, nonsensical mess. I mention all this because of the glitchy theme in Deltarune so far, especially as a result of Noelle's seeming magnetism for the unnerving and dark as revealed in the Spamton sweepstakes and Noelle's posts. I think the details of SQQ and Snowgrave are too disprate to draw real parallels so far, but I get the feeling Toby is drawing from its atmosphere, especially the disconcerting aura of the original American release and the stray FMV. As for the glitchiness, I get the feeling it was all concentrated into Spamton, especially given Spamton's role in the game so far.

I haven't gone through P1 in a very long time, so this is where my rambling ends, but perhaps someone else can draw deeper parallels.

The only real problem is I have no idea how much of Megami Tensei Toby Fox has played. He's a weeb of high caliber, so I imagine he's gone through most of it by now, maybe even early Persona, given how UT's and DT's Talk systems were inspired by MegaTen's demon negotiation, which was present in P1 and the P2 duology, which certainly lines up with his age and background. After all, he gave the Earthbound: Halloween Hack that "Shin Megami Tensei Bullshit."

Also everyone here should check out the PSX OST. It has the best leitmotif.

Soma ajouta les épices à la sauce et la versa sur la viande. Il sourit. C’était enfin prêt. Ils prit les assiettes et se dirigea vers la salle à manger, où Erina l’attendait. Il posa les assiettes sur la table et s’assit en face de la jeune femme. Il était à la fois anxieux et impatient de savoir si le dîner qu’il avait préparé lui plairait. C’était la première fois qu’il cuisinait pour elle en dehors d’une préparation pour un Shokugeki.

Cela faisait deux mois qu’ils étaient en couple et Soma voulait faire quelque chose de spécial pour elle. Lui préparer à dîner n’était pas une chose facile à cause de son palais divin.

Erina prit une bouchée et mangea. Soma l’observa, attendant sa réaction. Il avait l’impression qu’elle s’amusait en le faisant patienter. Elle posa sa fourchette sur l’assiette et sourit malicieusement.

« C’est pas mal. »

Soma ne put s’empêcher de sourire. Il la connaissait bien et il savait qu’elle le taquinait. Elle avait trouvé son plat excellent, mais elle refusait de lui avouer. Ce n’est pas grave, pensa-t-il. Pour cette fois, il ne dirait rien. Elle reprit sa fourchette et goûta un autre morceau. Elle fronça les sourcils et réfléchit.

« C’est étrange, dit-elle. Je peux sentir tous les ingrédients, mais j’ai l’impression qu’il y a quelque chose en plus. »

Elle ferma les yeux, se concentrant sur le goût.

« Je ne trouve pas ce que c’est. »

Elle ouvrit les yeux et découvrit le sourire taquin de Soma. C’était rare que le palais divin d’Erina ne trouve pas les ingrédients d’une recette.

« Qu’est-ce que tu as ajouté ?

-C’est l’ingrédient secret d’une recette de famille. »

Soma se souvint de ce jour où il avait appris cette recette. Il n’avait que sept ans et comme chaque jour, il observait son père cuisiner. Cette journée était importante pour Joichiro. C’était son anniversaire de mariage et il avait organisé une soirée spéciale pour lui et Tamako. Pendant qu’il cuisinait, il montrait chaque étape de la recette à Soma, qui était concentré sur ce que faisait son père.

« J’ai ajouté un ingrédient secret à la recette, dit Joichiro. »

Soma le regarda, perplexe. Il n’avait rien vu. Qu’est-ce que son père avait bien pu ajouter ?

« L’ingrédient secret, c’est l’amour. »

Soma était déçu. Le petit garçon avait l’impression que son père se moquait de lui.

« Ce n’est pas un ingrédient, dit-il boudeur. »

Joichiro s’agenouilla et lui ébouriffa les cheveux.

« Quand tu cuisineras pour la femme que tu aimeras, tu comprendras. »

Soma regarda Erina et sourit. En la rencontrant, il avait compris ce que son père voulait dire.

Elle est supposée montrer "800 personnes dans un cargo de l'armée américaine quittant Kaboul", après la prise de pouvoir des talibans. Toutefois, si plusieurs images spectaculaires et dramatiques témoignent des tentatives désespérées de certains habitants pour fuir Kaboul, ce cliché date en réalité de 2013, et montre l'évacuation de sinistrés après un typhon aux Philippines. "Image surréaliste de 800 personnes dans un cargo c17 de l’armée américaine quittant Kaboul", affirment des internautes partageant le cliché. 

Après des mois de crise politique et une offensive éclair, les talibans ont pris le contrôle d'une grande partie du territoire afghan, et se sont emparés dimanche 15 août 2021 du palais présidentiel à Kaboul, quelques heures après la fuite à l'étranger du président Ashraf Ghani. Lundi 16 août, la situation à l'aéroport de Kaboul, dont les pistes avaient été envahies, avait empiré au point que tous les vols, civils et militaires, avaient dû être suspendus pendant plusieurs heures. Des vidéos diffusées sur les réseaux sociaux montraient des scènes de totale anarchie, comme ces centaines de personnes courant près d'un avion de transport militaire américain roulant sur la piste, certaines tentant de s'accrocher à ses flancs ou à ses roues.

Toujours est-il que la photo qui nous intéresse ne peut pas montrer l'évacuation de personnes résidant à Kaboul après la prise de pouvoir des talibans. Remonter la trace d'une image en téléchargeant l'image ou en en faisant une capture, puis en la passant dans un moteur de recherche d'image inversée, on peut remonter à l'origine du cliché. L'image circule depuis le 17 novembre 2013. La légende indique qu'elle montre 670 résidents de la ville de Tacloban, aux Philippines, assis au sol dans un avion militaire (modèle C-17 Globemaster III). Ils étaient évacués vers Manille, capitale des Philippines, après que le typhon Haiyan a frappé le pays, faisant plus de 7.300 morts. Elle ne montre donc pas une scène d'évacuation à Kaboul en 2021. En revanche, une photo très semblable et tout aussi frappante témoigne de la situation à l'aéroport de Kaboul ces derniers jours. TOUKEN RANBU DAIENREN

The “Touken Ranbu Daienren”, scheduled for August 11, 2020, was supposed to be an event which celebrated the 5th anniversary of “Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-”. The cast performing at the event would have included the actors from both of the Touken Ranbu 2.5D franchises: the Musical Touken Ranbu (Toumyu) and the Touken Ranbu Stage (Tousute).

However, due to COVID-19, the event was cancelled. Instead, an alternative event called “Touken Ranbu Daienren ~Hikae no Ma~” was held. This event was a group Zoom meeting call featuring all the actors who were supposed to participate in the original event.

a silly lil idea i had this morning. idea was erika having social anxiety / a boomer moment with the dread not angel kids.

BECAUSE SHE'S A MOOD! like, i've been having a lot of social anxiety as of late. not even real life anxiety, it's online social anxiety! XDDD not to invalidate people (or myself) but because online bonds are both more accessible and ethereal, my gut feeling is to view this even happening in the first place as SILLY :') i feel like i've said a few things lately without complete awareness or good sense that the things i've said are in a particular social context/culture now than what i'm living in... and also, i think the one i am living in is outdated.

someone once mentioned this year on a discord server that once you're out of the loop, you become that "old person who doesn't get anything." i find that a bit scary. i don't want to be so tuned into everything--i can't handle it--but as much as i want to be a punk, i know i desperately want to belong somewhere. i want to be a part of the circle. i want to be seen and loved as a human.

i... i think it's telling how so many of my OCs, old and new, have this desire in the center of their soul. annika, navi, rafa, and now erika & undine...

Ryman’s Club: LIDENFILMS e badminton di nuovo insieme con l’originale serie animata in arrivo a gennaio

Il design dei protagonisti è stato realizzato da Suzuhito Yasuda, l’illustratore di Durarara!! e DanMachi.

Presentata da TV Asahi un’originale serie animata dal titolo “Ryman’s Club”, il cui debutto in Giappone è fissato per gennaio 2022.

L’anime prodotto da LIDENFILMS (Tokyo Revengers, Hanebado!) metterà sul piatto la competizione sia negli affari che nello sport, ruotando attorno a dei giovani salaryman, membri di una squadra di badminton.  

La serie è diretta da Aimi Yamauchi (direttrice d’episodio in Blade of the Immortal e in Killing Bites), che ne sta anche curando la sceneggiatura assieme a Teruko Utsumi (Sarazanmai). Il design dei personaggi si basa su quello originale concepito da Suzuhito Yasuda (Durarara!!, DanMachi) ed è adattato per l’animazione da Majiro (Barakamon, Macross Delta). La colonna sonora è, invece, ad opera dei Fox Capture Plan (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai).

La storia ruota attorno ai membri di una squadra di badminton aziendale, che si dividono fra il lavoro da impiegati e i campo da gioco. Da piccolo, Mikoto Shiratori era stato una giovane promessa del badminton. La sua carriera sportiva, però, si arrestò bruscamente al liceo, in seguito ad una brutta sconfitta durante un torneo. Ora, Mikoto lavora nel reparto vendite della Sunlight Beverage e gioca a badminton nella squadra della compagnia.

Food Wars

(ou Shingeki No Soma) - Série d’Animation Japonaise

Aujourd’hui, pas de recette, car je voulais vous présenter Food Wars, une série d’animation culinaire qui a été écrite par Tsukuda Yûto, dessinée par Shun Saeki avec participation de Yuki Morisaki (pour les plats notamment). L’animé est sorti en 2015 au Japon et les deux premières saisons en VOSTFR et VF sur Netflix en 2018. 

Résumé :

Sôma Yukihira rêve de devenir chef cuisinier dans le restaurant familial et ainsi surpasser les talents culinaires de son père. 

Alors que Sôma vient juste d'être diplômé au collège, son père Jôichirô Yukihira ferme le restaurant pour partir cuisiner à travers le monde. L'esprit de compétition de Sôma va alors être mis à l'épreuve par son père qui l’oblige à rejoindre une école d'élite culinaire, où très peu d’élèves finissent diplômés. Sôma motivé à surpasser son père va viser le meilleur niveau atteignable.

Avis personnel : 

Points positifs :

Une très belle animation bien travaillée et de super beau dessins agréable à regarder. Les personnages sont attachants et drôles. Ça donne envie de cuisiner et le scénario est plutôt bien travaillé. J’ai beaucoup aimé le fait qu’il y ait de l’humour au milieu d’un univers de cuisine très sérieux.

Points négatifs :

Il y a parfois un peu trop de fan service. Sinon je ne vois pas d’autres points négatifs puisque j’ai adoré cet animé. 

Petit + :

Cet animé m’a fais découvrir beaucoup de recettes que je ne connaissais pas dont quelques unes que j’ai essayées et elles sont toutes délicieuses et ça m’a occupé pendant le 1er confinement (j’ai fait la recette de karaage sur mon Tumblr grâce à celle de l’animé).

Je conseille vivement cet animé pour les fans de cuisine et fans d’animés bien entendu ! ;)
