One Eighth Plan Day countdown.
Part 2 of 6 - Lui ⨉ Koushiro
So my idea with this is just... Well, the 02 kids would like to introduce Rui to Koushiro and then let them talk. Is Rui a nerdy (affectionate) type? Not really, but I think he would get most of his digi-questions answered by Koushiro (and to some extent Gennai).
Also, the only person other than the 02 kids who gets to hold the egg is Koushiro. Because Koushiro wouldn't let it drop at all, this man is careful with technology, let alone a DigiEgg!
Still struggling to find ideas for the other 4... orz

In Home Away From Home (the ep where Tai is transported home after the Etemom arc) he says he remembers buzzing his friends on an intercom to come over and play video games, which isn't a revelation; he's a 11 year old boy, of course he plays video games but that suggests that canonically Tai likely owns a N64 (doesn't seem like a Sega guy imo) and has probably played Super Mario 64.
After the events of Revenge of Diaboromon (Spring 2003 in universe, showed March 3rd 2001)
Wanna go play some PS2, Izzy?
Sure, why not. That was stressful, wasn't it, Taichi?
Yeah- why do you say my full name? Almost no one says it.
This is a semi-serious moment, Tai. We just defeated Diaboromon.
Yeah, yeah, Koushiro.
Anyway, what game?
Uhhh... I kinda wanna try one of those nerdy computer RGPs.
You mean RPG but sure.

Digimon Adventure Drama CD 2 (Character Song + Mini Drama 2)
It's pretty funny how both this CD and the previous one begin with Butterfly. I guess the CD needed an OP just like the anime! Christmas isn't mentioned once on this CD by the way...
Download link
Drama Translation
Koushiro and the Missing Whereabouts of Love
In this mini drama Koushiro is writing a love letter on his laptop and the gang find out. Everyone mobs him with questions and excitement and then he flies away with Kabuterimon to escape.
I don't have much to say about this one because it was so short. The only thing I found kind of amusing was that Yamato defends Koushiro at first but then is like "actually, I want to see it too teehee."
When I read the translation for this, there were actually more characters involved than I realized. There were so many people talking over each other that I completely missed Gomamon was there lol.
Image Song 1 - VERSION UP (Koushiro Izumi)
Translation
I hate to say it, cuz Koushiro is my fave, but I think this was one of the weaker image songs. I like the appropriately nerdy title, but the lyrics were too abstract to be interesting. Something about changing the world for the better.
I did get a kick out of hearing Koushiro singing at least. I kinda wish the digimon had duets with their human partners. Hearing Tentomon singing would be hilarious (maybe that comes later).
Mimi’s Overly Self-Conscious Plans for World Domination
The gang capture Koushiro and continue debating over who he wrote his love letter to. Mimi is very confident that it's herself and goes on and on about how all men fall for her. Koushiro is apparently gagged so can't protest.
Kinda weird jokes in this one. They say that Koushiro would be unhappy with Sora because she'd have him whipped (which...where did that come from?) And then they do the whole "you can't date my younger sister" crap. Yamato chimed in that if he was Taichi he wouldn't let Koushiro date Hikari...why does he care? Just unfunny early 2000s gags lol
Another obscure reference joke. This time about The Kindaichi Case Files. Definitely had to wikipedia that one. This CD wasn't exactly written to hold up in the future, huh?
Image Song 2 - Because We Can See Each Other Anytime (Mimi Tachikawa)
Translation
I loved this one, extreme Mimi vibes. Nothing to do with saving the world or facing your fears, just a poppy love song. I guess there's definitely a tinge of melancholy to it. It sounds like it's about a long distance relationship.
I liked the lyrics and imagery in this one, especially the line about minds leaving bodies and meeting without any restrictions. It almost felt like a song about love during COVID lol.
Hikari’s Weak Constitution
Okay, this one was basically just a shit post lol. It starts off following up on the previous part with the gang discussing who Koushiro is writing a love letter to and then it just descends into chaos. Very "lol randum" kinda humor with the characters saying lines that have nothing to do with the situation. Kinda funny, mostly stupid.
Booo we don't even get to figure out who the letter was to because they beep it out. Hikari politely asking us to listen to her song was cute tho lol.
Image Song 3 - Holy Light (Hikari Yagami)
Translation
Another kind of abstract one only this one has weird psuedo-religious vibes. Typical of anime to do that though. I guess it makes sense with all the angel digimon. Gonna interpret this one as being about having faith in dark times. (Maybe not in the Christian sense tho lol)
Hikari's voice is really cute. I kind of wish there were animations of the characters singing these. Maybe if someone made an AMV with lip sync...
Preview for the Next CD
There's a little "next time on Digimon Adventure" preview at the end haha. Nice touch. No translation so I had to figure this one out on my own. Something about "hatsu yume" which is the first dream you have in the New Year.
I cracked the code, the reason why the cover art for this CD is Christmas themed is because it came out in December. Still weird, but okay...

Idea for au taishirou:
When Tai created an anonymous account to meet guys out of curiosity, he didn't expect to fall in love, especially with this nerdy boy with a striking resemblance to his best friend.
Basically Tai makes an account on a dating app and falls in love with a nerdy boy, not without knowing that he is koushiro.

@darcynne that’s all I needed as motivation to write my “Yamato as an Astronaut makes no fucking sense” meta so here it goes!
So ever since I found out, as a kid even, that in the 25 years after part, Yamato becomes an astronaut... I've had Questions. I guess I was supposed to go like "Wow he's an astronaut that's so cool wow!" but instead I just can't help thinking how much that clashes with his personality.
Yamato’s alignment is Chaotic.
Probably the most chaotic-inclined of all the original twelve children. Something that is even more clear in the Japanese dialogues, since he's, I think, the only character that never uses name honorifics. He also calls his dad "oyaji" (my old man), being the only character to use such a blunt term for his own father - a form of authority in his life. From a general standpoint, the way he reacts to stuff happening and acts as HE thinks is best and not abiding to social norms, that's the crux of any chaotic character; acting on their own reason and not caring what society expects of them - which is different from not caring whether others see him as emotionally vulnerable; he doesn't care if people think he's rude, but he cares if people think he's vulnerable (at least in the first season; in 02 he is much more in tune with his own emotions but he still doesn't care about following social norms).
But you'll tell me, he depended on being seen as a good older brother for Takeru, and this is a societal expectation he wanted to follow. And I'll tell you, this fucked Yamato up. The one way he pushed himself to follow social norms was by overcompensating for not being a part of Takeru's everyday life by being overly protective and losing his shit every time he lost sight of Takeru for 1.5 seconds. The worst part being how he became almost possessive over Takeru, feeling that anyone who simply becomes close with Takeru will eventually take him away from Yamato, therefore Takeru must not have other friends, Takeru only needs Yamato, Takeru is a helpless little baby that can't do anything on his own... that's all Yamato depended on on the idea that by "social norms" means he has to be a "good older brother". None of his methods showed how much he loved Takeru, because those methods were not him. I mean, he does love his brother, but his dependence on showing a "good big brother" façade pushed him to behaviours that go against his character and his expression. We see it much more clearly in 02, where he acts way more casual and open with his brother, now that he's at peace with his own self and emotions.
He is artistic, not a nerd.
Not that those two cannot combine. But in the show's case, the "nerdy" characters were clear: Koushiro and Jou in the first season, and Iori and Miyako (and Ken?) in the second. Yamato never expresses any curiosity to learn something further, to fully invest himself into reading and studying. He is much more a practical person; he plays music, he cooks, he loves spending free time with the people he cares about... we never see him lose himself in a book or a computer screen, absorbing every piece of information given to him.
Again, not that a person cannot be a book/information nerd and artistic at the same time. But Yamato is clearly only one of those. His passions are his music and his friends. Of course, interests can change from adolescence and into adulthood, but you don't just suddenly gain an interest for going down rabbit holes of research the moment you turn 18.
And most importantly, Yamato is a fictional character. Real people can have changes of heart at any moment, or because of the circumstances they grew up in, maybe they never got the chance to be nerdy until after a certain point in their lives. But Yamato is fictional, with every writing choice being deliberate. It was deliberate to not show him with his nose in a book, to not show him gaining interest in engines, to make him a reactionary pre-teen and teenager whom you cannot imagine ever willingly joining the armed forces.
He was traumatized by his parents' divorce, the separation from his mother and brother, and the limited time he got with his father due to the latter working overtime way too often.
Yamato spent almost the entirety of the first season feeling that if he doesn't act like a good older brother, then he is worthless and doesn't deserve being taken care of. That if he isn't of practical use to someone, then no-one will care about him. And being taken care of is something he longed for - every time his Crest of Friendship glows before the evolution sequence (because there are times that the evolution sequence just starts without the Crest glowing outside of it) is because he variably felt that someone else took him into consideration: Jou saving Takeru and telling Yamato he wasn't mad about Yamato being a Bitch at him; Pumpmon and Gotsumon protecting them from Vamdemon; Gabumon telling him that he'll follow and believe in him no matter what; Taichi saying he believed Yamato would come back for them. It's not just that he cares for his friends, it's that he also treasures others trusting and believing in him. His love language is Quality Time (and a bit of Acts of Service). He's not good with words, or personal gifts, and I'd also say physical touch but this may also be because of cultural differences between my culture and Japan's. In his goodbye to Gabumon, all he can do - after Gabumon requests it, no less - is play the harmonica for him one last time.
And it's that lack of quality time, the lack of confirmation that someone cares about him, that made him as closed-off and emotional as he is for the majority of the first season, that made him even wonder out loud why someone like him got the Crest of Friendship.
So, Yamato is a chaotic-aligned artist that loves spending time with his loved ones, and more often than not allows himself to act solely on his emotions.
Now let's make a small breakdown of what the job of an astronaut is like:
For JAXA, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, the requirements are an advanced degree in science as of education, and as of professional experience it's three years of work experiece in science or in the Japanese Self Defence Forces.
NASA requires experience in flying aircrafts, for JAXA it's not mandatory but it's certainly something that would help. Spacecrafts have a shit ton of machinery and technical stuff you need to learn about and be able to handle, especially if something starts going wrong.
From a technical standpoint, an astronaut is a type of soldier. They have to follow orders, have a very strict code that can literally mean life or death during a mission, etc. etc. And as said above, JAXA takes into consideration experience in armed forces. By definition, soldiers are of Lawful alignment, and simply cannot work by any other alignment.
It's a demanding profession, one that someone needs to dedicate a lot of time to, and if/when they are finally chosen for a mission, they could spend entire months in space with only video calls to their loved ones on Earth. There they instead practically live with whatever coworkers their agency chose for them, and the relationship between such coworkers can be only strictly professional because of the high demands of the work they do.
So an astronaut has to be a lawful-aligned science/engineer nerd that doesn't mind being away from loved ones for long periods of time and will NEVER allow their emotions to get the better of them.
... where the FUCK does Yamato fit in all this? The requirements of an astronaut go directly against EVERYTHING Yamato really is.
As I said, Yamato is a fictional character. It was the writers' choice to give him all the traits that make him incompatible for becoming an astronaut, it was their choice to keep those traits as he grew into a teenager, and it was their choice to eventually give him that profession, practically saying that everything Yamato was as a pre-teen and a teen vanished when he became an adult.
In real life, people can "change" or discover things about themselves as they grow up. But fiction almost NEVER portrays such realism, because that's not the point of fiction. The point of fiction is to give us pieces of a puzzle and for us to put them together. Sometimes the pieces are super easy to match; sometimes the Author takes our hands and pieces the puzzle together for us; sometimes it gets a little while for the pieces to reveal the edges so that we can connect them; sometimes we need to find pieces in other sources (behind the scenes material, interviews, etc) in order to complete the puzzle; sometimes the pieces don't fit together and don't make sense; and sometimes the Author breaks apart the pieces so that they can force connection among pieces that don't fit.
And in Yamato as an Astronaut's case, it's plain and clear the last case.
I have seen people trying to justify this writing choice for some reason, and nothing I've ever seen makes sense to me. The most common explanation is that Yamato is a romantic soul and wanted to go to space with Gabumon, and I'm like, he chose a profession that goes against everything he is, dedicated countless time and entire years of his life in preparation to become an astronaut, all because he had a dream of going somewhere SpecialTM with Gabumon? What if JAXA went like "How are we gonna send a Digimon to space we don't know shit about their physiology what purpose is he even gonna serve in the spacecraft what the FUCK Ishida-san"? How about, idk, climbing mount Everest or something?
I mean, I mentioned the fact that he was traumatized by how little time he had to spend with his family when he was young, because by becoming an astronaut he practically did the same with his own children. Do y'all think an astronaut gets more time with their kids than an overworked journalist?!
I am a musician myself, and though I discovered my love for music in my teens, I do not think that anyone who likes music in their teens has to become a musician. People’s interests change, and there’s a shit ton of difference between music as a hobby and music as your job. People who do the mistake of becoming professional musicians without loving being a professional musician come to the sad development of hating both music and their job.
But in any case, as I said, Yamato is a fictional character so it wouldn’t hurt anyone if they had him become a professional musician. It would be much more in harmony with his character traits, it would allow him to be as emotionally expressive as he was in 01 and 02, and depending on what exactly he did as a musician, it would allow him to spend more time with his kids.
I mean, you want something that looks FUCKING AWESOME for Cool Yamato’s very Cool Future Career? Think of this: Yamato is the lead singer/bassist of a famous J-rock group. They have a concert. The crowd is screaming because they know to expect something awesome. The group sans Yamato comes out on stage, start their opening song, and when it’s Yamato’s time to come on stage, he BURSTS THROUGH a paper wall behind the stage, riding on Garurumon’s back. Garurumon blasts blue flames above the crowd as Yamato belts out a scream, signaling the end of their opening number. Now wouldn’t you pay a shit ton of money to see that live? Toei Animation Studios call me.

✈️ mimi tachikawa // [day 2] voyage (for @digiweek 2021) not to worry; the seven chosen children are also making cameos in this mimi-centric fic. wait, seven? yes, because this fic is set before 02. remember the flashback in 02x27 where koushiro (along with takeru and hikari) explained to the new kids about how they were being called by gennai and released the power of their crest to give more protection to the digiworld? i checked on wiki it happened may 2000, and simultaneously, we also have the cd drama 2½ Year Break where we found out that: 1) the gate to the digiworld can open sometimes starting from november 1999, 2) mimi was already in new york when 9/11 happened. so, knowing that she was moving somewhere between may 2000 and september 2001, i took a guess and settled that she moved to new york in march 2001 after the school year ended. i always thought that mimi's american plot has so much potential but we don't have a lot of information, so i decided to write how she felt when she was moving. like... i know how it feels to leave your country to live somewhere else; i did that last year and as much as i hate my country the sombre was real. but anyway, happy reading!

Flight attendant, take-off position Distance to destination: 6745 miles
The sky was still blue when the plane climbed up to the clouds, yet Mimi did not have any interest to look out the window beside her seat. Instead, her gaze was fixated on the seatbelt sign over her head that was still bright in red.
Once the sign dimmed, she released her buckle so she could bend to pull her small pink briefcase from under the seat. She made quite a ruckus earlier before take-off when her mother told her to put the briefcase on the overhead compartment. Her pitch raised as she quickly refused, saying that the briefcase contained some of the precious things that she had to—insert dramatical emphasis here—protect with her life.
The inside of the briefcase was not that packed, considering it only had less than ten things. Her Digivice was one of them; it had become a nature to carry it wherever she went, and she would feel so bare not having it within her reach. The others are gifts from her friends, which now she inspected one by one with her fingers in admiration. They gave them to her yesterday at a farewell party thrown at Sora’s house.
The party hostess herself gave Mimi a flower wreath in pink. Sora had been learning more about flowers lately, and she secretly picked a bunch from her mother’s shop and carefully preserved them. She said that Mimi could hang it in her new bedroom’s door—like how they put up a holly wreath on Christmas, and Mimi loved the idea so much. She would probably ask her mother to sew up a Lilimon’s doll as an additional piece to be placed in the middle of the wreath.
Koushiro gave her a pocket electronic dictionary, believing that she would have a hard time speaking English. “I know a dictionary book is too much for you,” he said matter-of-factly. “This has been equipped with sixty thousand English words as per the latest update of Oxford English Dictionary, which is the best English dictionary around according to my research. They only come in three colours, which are black, silver, and white, so I took the liberty to choose—”
She didn’t want to listen to his nerdy ramblings, so she just marched forward and hugged him until his face turned as red as a boiled crab.
Jyou-senpai gave her a shawl, but he forgot to cut off the store label. “You bought this on Daiso?!”
“First of all, it is from Daiso, but it’s definitely not a mere hundred-yen gift—see it yourself!” he argued, half panicking. “Second, we don’t know if New York is colder than Tokyo. You have to get yourself warm or else you’ll get sick, Mimi-kun! And… uh… well, maybe you can also wear it for fashion in summer…?”
He was too sincere, after all. How could she get mad at him?
The Yagamis gave a box of scrunchies. All of them had different colours—some even had cute patterns—and were made of different materials. After Taichi handed her the box, Hikari approached and secretly whispered to her, “He almost bought another hairclip. I cannot let Oniichan put himself into a hard time again, so I made sure I was able to accompany him to the store this time.”
Mimi couldn’t help but giggle. She knew about that infamous tragedy; Sora couldn’t stop talking about it once Mimi came back from her Hawaiian vacation, complaining about how stupid Taichi was (although funnily, she kept wearing that hairclip even when she told the story grumpily).
The last gift was from Takeru and Yamato. With a rather proud look on his face, Takeru gave a beautiful box. “Open it!” he asked in giddy tone, and Mimi obeyed his request. A beautiful ballerina popped out of the box, circling in the middle accompanied by a soft piano tune. Without a doubt, her expression turned as excited as the little boy standing in front of her.
“We found it in Shibuya!” Takeru exclaimed. “There’s also a version with a yellow teddy bear. I thought it looked like a Monzaemon, but Oniichan said we should take this one because there’s a tiara above the dancer that makes her look like a princess, so it suits you, Mimi-san.”
“Really?” she asked, feeling flattered. She took a glance at Yamato, but the boy turned his face away shyly. Mimi caught a blush in his cheeks, however, and it was enough to make her chuckle once again.
Her fingers now stopped at that music box. She lifted it open, and the humble notes started to echoed tenderly—only to be stopped a few moments later because her mother said they shouldn’t make any noises for that it would disturb the other passengers.

Distance to destination: 3280 miles
Mimi witnessed the sun set in deep blue before the outside got darker. Then, below the black streak of clouds, she caught a faint glimpse of white. She thought it was a sign they had passed the big sea and entered a new continent, so she navigated herself on the screen in front of her. The map showed they were flying across Alaska, and she acknowledged the place as the iciest part of America.
She wasn’t sure if this was due to a restlessness after learning she finally travelled to a new place, but she couldn’t seem to fall asleep. Perhaps this was the thing called jet lag, but how come her mother and father were sound asleep on their respective seat?
Mimi glanced once again at the screen, returned to the main menu, and scrolled at the film catalogue hoping that she would find something interesting. She loved romance and drama just like most girls, but she always had to sneak in to be able to watch them comfortably. With her mother, who liked to keep everything PG, she would be told to cover her eyes every time a kissing scene (or more than kissing) came into the picture. But now that she was basically off the hook, she should have the freedom to choose anything she wanted.
She settled on Breakfast at Tiffany, just because the female lead looked pretty in black. The story was about a life of a lady named Holly Golightly in New York City, so she might study one or two things from it.
The opening sequence introduced Holly’s neighbour, who happened to be a Japanese man called Mr Yunioshi. Be that as it might, the character was so annoying and stupid; no wonder Holly and her male companion kept badmouthing him. Hearing how ridiculous Mr Yunioshi was when he spoke in English got her wondering: would she also sound like that when she tried to communicate? Even when she was a confident person to begin with, some hurdles still could make her feel insecure—in this case, being a universal laughing stock like Mr Yunioshi.
Fast forward, Holly was throwing a party in her apartment, but it was different compared to every other party Mimi had ever attended. Sure, everyone was wearing nice clothes (some of them was too flashy for her taste, nonetheless), and there was nothing wrong with adults drinking too many beers, but it was so… loose. No one was giving a speech, yet they were talking at full volume, overlapping one another. She didn’t mind with people dancing, but she thought it would be some kind of ballroom dance with those kinds of glamorous dresses. Yet they swayed their hips away like they were in a nightclub, and Mimi knew it was a bad place for a hangout because once her cousin went there secretly, and his parents were fuming when they caught him.
She pulled the blanket closer to her heart. Was this going to be the world she lived in next?
The restlessness grew stronger. It felt like this journey was no longer that exciting.
.
.
Distance to destination: 1437 miles
She fell asleep right after the credit was rolled and woke up as the morning sun pierced through the window. The cabin was already bright, and the stewardesses were already moving with their carts. One of them stopped beside her, serving a breakfast tray and wished her to enjoy the meal before leaving for another passenger.
Orange juice. Fruit cuts. Granola yogurt. Croissant. All of them tasted good, but they did remind her that it would not be that easy to have a Japanese breakfast after this. She would miss the smell of miso soup in the morning, maybe even longing for a taste of natto. She also wondered if she could eat her favourite tuna mayo onigiri that often; even the one made by konbini could be of a pretty high standard.
Sora served many tuna mayo onigiris—courtesy of Mrs Izumi—at the party yesterday, thinking that Mimi would miss them later. For the sake of a good old joke, she even provided a sunny-side-up topped with sugar and natto, putting everyone on a dare to eat it. No one was brave enough to eat more than a spoon except Taichi, although he cursed with all his might afterwards.
They sat still around the table even when they had nothing to eat anymore. It was as if they did not want to leave her just like that.
“Do you know the Tokyo-New York flight once held the record as the longest flight in the 1970s?” Koushiro opened the post-meal conversation with his usual trivia.
“More than twelve hours, huh?” Sora mumbled. “I cannot imagine how tiring it will be. Maybe I’ll pick the aisle seat, so in case I want to walk around the plane.”
“Don’t worry. It’s our first flight to New York, so my father managed to upgrade the seats to business class,” Mimi explained. “We have to make ourselves comfortable. I cannot afford to be cranky when New York greets us.”
“But still…” Yamato mused. “Flying back and forth to Japan will be troublesome and expensive, even the economy class.”
“Don’t be so bothered!” It was Taichi’s turn to chirp in. “Now that the Digital Gate opens quite often, we can always meet there, right? I think we can even escort Mimi to Japan through the Digital World, so it’ll save her a lot of time and money. Right, Koushiro?”
“Hey, it’s not that easy, Taichi,” Jyou protested. “What if we manage to bring her to Japan but the gate suddenly close? How can we return Mimi-kun to New York then? Don’t forget that there’s a time difference between Japan and America—she’ll be sleeping when we have our mornings.”
Mimi was actually starting to pumped up with Taichi’s idea, only to be let down by Jyou’s rationality. She pouted in disappointment while twisting the small spoon inside her already empty ice cream cup, but her fingers stopped after catching Takeru and Hikari—who sat next to each other—turned to face her with a smile.
“You don’t have to worry, Mimi-san,” Takeru said, still with the same cheerfulness that he brought the moment he stepped his foot in this house. “We will still be friends forever no matter how far we are.”
Hikari nodded in agreement.
“Once a DigiDestined, always a DigiDestined, right?”
The words felt like they were knocking her down with a feather. Mimi felt her eyes getting wet, and the tears finally ran down her cheeks once she swiped her gaze to the seven people in the room. When the time had come for the boys to go home, she even wailed so loudly as she hugged Jyou and made his vest wet.
After practically begging a few days earlier, her parents let her have one final girls’ sleepover and would pick her up very early in the morning before heading straight to the airport. Mimi had planned to stay up all night talking and crying her heart out. In reality, she was too overwhelmed with all the emotions and had no longer the energy to speak or cry.
She ended up sleeping while hugging Sora and Hikari as tight as possible. Her parents kept their word about fetching her even when the sun barely rose. She waved her goodbye from the backseat, in which both Sora and Hikari returned enthusiastically despite the fact they were still in their sleepwear.
Mimi could still spot the cats pattern on Hikari’s pyjamas from afar.

Distance to destination: 219 miles
As the car drove slowly through the downtown, she soaked in every image of the city for one last time. With the streets still pretty quiet, it was easier for her to observe the tiniest details she had never paid much attention to before. The lanterns in front of a ramen shop. Vending machines lined up neatly in the corner. Gigantic signs with catchy kana alphabets. Cherry blossoms falling as the gentle breeze passed by. Trains and shinkansen flashed above the flyover. Tokyo Tower drenched in the golden ray of sunrise.
And now, with the seatbelt sign on as the plane descended, she caught sight of other buildings—all not in red silhouette, but still looked majestic. Lots and lots of skyscrapers soared as if they were competing who could reach the clouds first. In the middle of that concrete jungle, she found a real jungle; a massive and beautiful one, which made her jaw almost dropped in admiration.
The restlessness was still there, but seeing something in green—just like the colour of her crest—always managed to give her a sense of peacefulness. Maybe in the end, everything was going to be okay.

"Stop making me fall in love with [Koushiro]," sorry, not happening. It is natural for anyone when they first see him to fall in love with Koushiro. He's just that kind of guy. Are we sure Taichi is the one who can be shipped with everyone cause I think Kou can give him some competition
First of all, it's funny to know people do read my stupid tags xD
Second, I was just joking, because tbh I don't mind falling in love with our Kou-boi. I love my guys nerdy like that (him having reddish fluffy hair and having SUCH a pretty face is just a very welcoming bonus. But I blame @seventeenlovesthree for giving him a smooth, lovable and sexy face in her Koushiro-art so that I fall harder and deeper pffftt).
Third, let me remind everyone that I think Taichi is shipable with the whole Digi universe, but that I basically do ship Koushiro with everyone ;p Taishiro, Koura, Koumi, Koukari, Yamashiro, Koukeru, Jyoushiro, Daishiro, Ioshiro, Miyashiro, Kouken, hell, I might as well ship OG!Kou with 2020!Kou. 2 weeks ago I guess, in the span of 24 hours I wrote a Koumi, a Koukari and a Koura with implied Taishiro.
So yeah, Anon, I feel you..! Let's all fall in love with Koushiro-kun now <3

A scenario that i want/ love thinking about
Post Adventure Koushiro and Mimi saving their class while on a trip or something? Listen even if they had Digimon to help them etc, the fact is these kids survived for MONTHS in the fucking wild? They definitely gained some survival skills and theyre just fucking SMART and capable and theyve grown so so much and dealt with so much—much more than any kid their age should go through. So their class goes on a camping trip and something happens so now uh oh theyre just stranded out in the wild with no signal and everyone is panicking! Except a voice firmly tells them that everything will be ok and to take a breath and sit down for a bit and not to run off and its Mimi Tachikawa of all people? And then she turns to Koushiro who had been trying his phone and has now been checking their surroundings and they start talking about what supplies they have, what they might need, wether they need to move someplace else (but near) to set up shelter, etc etc. And everyone is like woah?? When did they learn all this?? Nerdy, quiet Koushiro and girly girl Mimi?? And IDK man i just want their class to be in awe and respect them bc theyve grown so much?? They’re missing for days and the adults are going nuts with worry—Their parents are mega fucking worried but they trust them they know how strong they are! The rest of the kids are also worried as hell trying to figure out what they can do to help, Jyou and Sora absolutely have to stop Taichi and Yamato from trying to gonpook for them somehow, because you guys are kids too!!? They have to fend off some wild animals they run into, and yeah Mimi is still scared, so is Koushiro but they have experience with doing what needs to be done in spite of fear, and so they manage to get themselves and everyone to safety!! Idk where this is going but :P
#digimon nonsense#just want them to be *appreciated*#mimi brings the biggest fucking bundle of wood to their camp site the first night and everyone is like holy fuck whem did she get so strong?#koushiro is able to patch someone up and catch some fish from the river and gut them and everyone is like yo??#anyways i love my kids they survived in an at times hostile environment for MONTHS like they are so cool#a lot of ppl develope crushes that week#taichi uh oh you have some competition now :O#bonus; some kids who have maybe tried/ bullied Koushiro have their world rocked

Feb. 15: A friendship you’d like to see developed
This is easy.
Daisuke & Mimi
During 02, Mimi is only in a few episodes. She visits Japan once, they meet her in the Digital World once, and then Daisuke meets up with her in New York during the World Tour. And as for other media, the only person she interacts with in Diablomon Strikes Back is Koushiro (I mean, I’m all for some Koumi, but still), and obviously the 02 kids aren’t in tri.
As my favorite female character, it just freaking sucks how little she’s in the show compared to the other original group. But it really sucks because Mimi and Daisuke would be amazing friends.
Think about it.
They’re both extraverted, enthusiastic people-pleasers. Well, they try to please people, and frankly, they usually both fail pretty hard because they can both come off as pretty selfish and silly.
They’re both emotional, strong-willed and determined, not afraid to speak their mind, and also incredibly compassionate and caring about their loved ones. They too often wear their heart on their sleeves, and way too often, people refuse to take them seriously.
They both exude confidence in themselves and their beliefs, often to the point where it’s over the top and seems excessive. And yes, they are both confident who they are and who they want to be, but this also comes from a desire not to appear vulnerable, despite the fact that they are very emotionally vulnerable people.
They are both in a position to understand each other on a level that many of the other Chosen Children don’t. Daisuke especially struggles with constantly being underestimated and misunderstood because of his position as the leader, and Mimi definitely struggles with that in Adventure. He could learn a lot from her experience.
Hell, they could learn a lot from each other regardless.
But mostly, in each other, they could find camaraderie and a meaningful friendship because they understand each other on a fundamental level. They could be bosom friends.
Although they only met three times in 02, it was apparently enough that Mimi invites Daisuke (and Wallace) to spend the summer with her in the kind-of-but-not-really-canon Door to Summer drama CD. Of course, the story is overtaken by plot, so there isn’t much actual interaction there, but I love that their previous meetings were enough for her to invite him to America for the summer. That’s adorable.
Okay, now look at the Last Evolution poster.
LOOK AT THEM!
They’re both so enthusiastic and upbeat, throwing their arms in the air in excitement and grinning. They’re doing the same fucking pose. (Along with V-mon. lol)
And of course, who’s standing next to them?
Their introverted, nerdy boyfriends with their insect Digimon, whose Ultimate forms, HerculesKabuterimon and GranKuwagamon, are the two most powerful insect Digimon.
In their profiles for Last Evolution, they are the only two characters who travel the world regularly, though Mimi travels via jet and Daisuke via Digital Gates.
And as a final note, as much as I dislike half the epilogue, you really can’t ignore that both of them went into the food business. Mimi hosts a cooking show, and Daisuke runs a ramen cart.
How am I not supposed to want them to be the best of friends?

Kizuna Countdown
7 - Favorite Adventure Chosen Child (Older 6)
I spent my entire time at the office thinking about this and my head kind of hurts. This felt like chosing between all my children, like!!! I love them all so much??? But, we had the obvious answer: I love Sora, she’s always been the love of my life. But after reading Ni’s incredible love letter to her character, I thought, that’s it! I can’t write anything better!
Considering that, and how I talk about Sora literally, all the time, I decided to take this opportunity to talk about my second most favorite redhead Chosen Children! Behold!!!
Koushiro Izumi
OH MY GOD LOOK AT HIM HE’S SO CUTE AND HAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST FASHION SENSE! HOW NOT TO LOVE HIM??
We have the cliché of the nerdy boy minus all the cliché parts. Yes he’s a nerd, yes he’s an introvert, but he’s so much more than that! He’s one of the most lovable kids, he clearly adores his parents and it kills him that he may feel like they don’t love him as much as he loves them.
The two closest people to him in Adventure are two of the most extroverted and social people of the group, Taichi and Mimi, which imo bring out the best in him. The episode where he’s stuck with Mimi is one of my all time favorites, and he shines amazingly in Our War Game.
Koushiro also gets placed way out of his confort zone. I can see Yoshie, his mom, pushing him to do more social activities, such as join the soccer team (who knows! Maybe he was good?) and going to the camp, but I bet she never would’ve imagined her smol bean in the middle of a digital forest.
Sure, Koushiro is smart, a genius even, but he’s also charming, and so funny. When they decided to pair him with Takeru in tri. I thought it was one of the best decisions of the entire franchise. If we don’t get more of this duo in Kizuna I’m going to riot!!!
Thinking about it, isn’t it crazy that by being an introvert-socially awkward being he’s the one that interacts more wholesomely (?) with all of the OG gang?
Taichi Yagami? Duh.
Yamato Ishida? Yes (and he’s the least of them)
Sora Takenouchi? Of course.
Mimi Tachikawa? PLEASE.
Jou Kido? Yep.
Takeru Takaishi? A FACT.
Hikari Yagami? Yep.
Because he attracts people, he’s the kind of dude you would tell all your darkest secrets to and you wouldn’t even know why, you just trusted him.
And that’s why I love Koushiro Izumi.

My upcoming Taichi x Mimi fic
Mimi Tachikawa joined Odaiba High School after living in America for six years. She found her elementary school friends had move on and she had to reconnect with them again. The first person she spoke to was Koushiro (Izzy), who invited her to join his newspaper club. The first assignment she got was to write a piece on the school’s band. A fan of People’s Magazine and US Weekly, Mimi happily accepted the job. She went to interview the band’s lead, Yamato (Matt) Ischida, who treated her icily and yelled at her. Angrily, she went back to Koushiro, who simply said Yamato is just being Yamato. But to make her feel better, Koushiro offered her a trade - to cover soccer team instead of the band. So Mimi attended the school’s soccer game despite knowing absolute 0 about any sport. But unbeknownst to her, a pair of chocolate eyes spotted her.
Characters:
Mimi Tachikawa - sixteen year old sophomore who went to Odaiba High School after living six years in US. She had to reconnect with her childhood friends who had moved on. Attractive and sweet, Mimi was also smart and hard working though some saw her annoying and like an airhead.
Taichi Yagami - class president and captain of soccer team, Taichi was dashing and handsome. He fell in love with Mimi after his sister Hikari invited Mimi to the soccer game. Many thought he would win Mimi over easily, but it was harder than he thought.
Koushiro Izumi - Mimi’s best friend and president of newspaper club. He’s nerdy but down to earth. Unlike Mimi, Koushiro doesn’t judge people. He accepts people as they are.
Yamato Ishida - Taichi’s best friend and head of school’s band. He’s good looking and very popular - with many girls dream of dating him. He had a difficult personality though he is nice at heart. He is seeing Sora and was not exactly supportive of Taichi’s feelings towards Mimi.
Sora Takenouchi - Taichi’s best friend and Yamato’s girlfriend. She encouraged Taichi to follow his heart and confess to Mimi of his true feelings.

Izzy and Tentomon need love
Has someone tried to count all the times the digidestined would have died if it wasn`t for Koushiro (Izzy) Izumi? He is also the mentor of the next generation and the plot relies on him in every Adventure season. He might not be the official main character, but he is definately the most important one. I feel that people understimate his role. He is not just a `made for exposition`character neither because he doesn`t know shit. He is not a `know it all´ super genius, he spends the day researching, making theories with the information he is able to gather.
His digimon, Tentomon, is also underappreciated. To be completely honest, if we are just talking about appearence, he is also one of my least favourites. I only like his baby levels (especially Pabumon, that green bubble is the cutest thing) and... maybe megakabuterimon¿?
Despite this, I must say Tentomon holds a digievolving logic, which is really good to see and it makes me not rant about his design even if I find it quite ugly.
The reason why I think Tentomon is one of the best digimons goes deeper than that. For a starter, I laugh so hard with him, he delievers the best lines.
Koushiro: We don`t know where the North is.
Tentomon: I do.
Koushiro: Where?
Tentomon: Opposite to the South.
He is not joking, he is seriously answering the question. Tentomon is pretty dumb but he still gets to be the digimon representative of the Crest of Knowledge xD I am a sucker for this ironical non-sense.
However, the most important ingredient for me to love this character is the bonding with his human partner. Izzy and him learn so much from one another. It is simply beautiful how Tentomon tries to understand Koushiro, how he accepts him with all his manias and plain akwardness. The digimon actually encourages Koushiro to be curious and take ignorance as an opportunity to improve. This support is what helps our knowledge digidestined to grow.
That`s all I wanted to say, however, as I did with my Mimi Tachikawa`s post, I am going to add a list of my take on other Koushiro involving relationships a.k.a. gonna state my ships for Izzy:
As far as his sexual orientation is concerned, Kou is probably the only digidestined I headcanon as completely heterosexual.
That`s why Taishiro is a BroTP for me.
I also enjoy the idea of Kou being very close to...
Takeru Takaishi.
I didn´t know I needed this friendhsip until Tri came out, still, I love it with all my heart.
Sora Takenouchi.
Even if the redheads don`t hang alone, only meeting when the group does; they do talk an awful lot over the phone. Sora calls him when she needs an impartial opinion about her problems or is doubting what to do when facing a `life choice´ moment. He goes to her for emotional advise because he correctly thinks Sora is a more reliable source than Taichi.
Jyou Kido.
Their bonding is based in...
Huge admiration towards the other.
Intelectual debates.
Never ending existential conversations.
Nerdiness Battles.
Despite not interacting much in canon, I like to believe Izzy does have a good relationship with Yamato Ishida that would go as followed:
They share whispered comments or exasperation gestures when Taichi and the others do/say something stupid (so, basically all the time haha).
When they are alone, oh boy, those are quality moments because these introverts understand the importance of some easy, calm and silent time. That is what they find in each other`s company: tranquility. And after so many crazy adventures, it sure feels like paradise.
At some point, Koushiro starts making fun of Yamato for being an edgelord. This is a quite OOC behaviour that only the blonde is able to unlock.
The girls I pair him up with are:
Mimi Tachikawa (As I have already made pretty clear on this blog).
Miyako Inoue.
They have so many common interests!
Yolei is far more crazy and it would be interesting to see how that affects on Koushiro.
I have seen some KouKari content and... well, I wouldn`t have thought about it myself but I can somehow see it working.

KoushiroxEimi, 7, 8, 9, 19, 26, 36, 38, 44
Oh my goodness, this is going to get long! These are some really good ones, too. I’ll throw it beneath the cut.
BTW, here is the question list.
7. - What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could?
Koushiro: Eimi bottles up the bad stuff and sometimes pushes herself too hard. Koushiro isn’t the best at navigating emotional situations to start with, so Eimi’s withdrawn behavior can cause problems for them. While Koushiro wouldn’t try to change how she relates to other people, he does wish she’d lean on him and let him in more readily.
Eimi: Would it kill Koushiro to @#$%ing take care of himself, lol?! She worries about his lack of sleep/good diet/exercise/overwork. She also can feel ignored when he falls into a work vortex for hours (days?) and forgets things he’d said he’d do because of it. If she could convince him to take care of himself (especially to sleep more) and balance his lifestyle, she would.
8. - What do the like best about their partner?
Koushiro: He admires Eimi’s depth of feeling, empathy, and upright nature.
Eimi: She admires Koushiro’s kind rationality, his open mind, his ingenuity, and his eagerness to use his talents and time for good.
9. - Do they discuss big issues? Religion? Marriage? Children? Death?
Hmm, they probably talk about a lot of things! They’re not the type of people to shy away from difficult questions, and they enjoy picking each others’ minds.
19. - What do they fight about? What are their arguments like? How do they make up?
Poor Koushiro is usually in the wrong, lol. Eimi gets upset when he pulls all nighters and generally doesn’t take care of himself. Sometimes, her more emotional perspective doesn’t mesh well with his logical one.
They never have screaming matches or call each other names. When their debates grow too heated, they step away for a while and cool down. Respect is important to both of them. They make up by making an effort to listen and see the other person’s perspective. If possible (ie if they have privacy), they comfort each other with physical contact after.
26. - How do their friends feel about their relationship? Their families?
Koushiro’s parents love Eimi; she clearly adores their son, and she takes care of him, which is a huge relief for them. Eimi’s dad doesn’t like Koushiro, but then, he doesn’t like his daughter, either. Eimi’s mom doesn’t really understand why her daughter is so crazy about Koushiro, but she does understand that they’re happy.
To their friends, Koushiro and Eimi are sort of… that super married, super nerdy, super introverted couple. Some of them don’t “get” their lifestyle, which is painfully quiet (outside of digimon emergencies), and because they rarely show affection publicly, casual friends and acquaintances might wonder if they’re really that into each other.
The Chosen and good friends, ah, know better XD Iori in particular thinks they’re a perfect couple and hopes to find a relationship like theirs someday. Daisuke thinks they’re kinda vomit-inducing, and Miyako is all over them as a couple, especially early on when she’s too young to have a partner yet and feels wistful about what they have.
36. -What’s their greatest strength as a couple? Their weakness?
Oh man, this is a hard one! One really nice thing about their relationship is that it’s rooted in unshakable mutual admiration and respect. Eimi and Koushiro never abuse each other on any level (like, they don’t bad mouth each other to their friends, even), and they always genuinely feel grateful and excited that they have one another. It’s a solid, supportive relationship.
But… They both suffer from insecurity, and they’re not always that good at opening up (Eimi because she hides pain and Koushiro because he can’t always articulate what he’s feeling). This can lead to problems slowly growing and festering out of sight. Furthermore, they’re both so introverted that they can sometimes sort of… slip away from the world together. They’re happy doing it, but frankly, the world needs them (especially Koushiro), so sometimes Taichi/the Chosen and their digimon have to push them out the door.
38. - What are they like in the bedroom? Any kinks/fetishes/turn-ons? Anything they won’t do?
OMG. Um… Oh, geez, lol. Okay.
Eimi is… I guess pretty… vanilla, is the word? Although she does sometimes ask for roleplay that puts her in a submissive role (mostly stuff like the classic ‘secretary’ scenario). She isn’t kinky, I guess (???), but she is eager to please and goes along with whatever Koushiro asks for. What she lacks in skill and technique she compensates for in generosity, enthusiasm, and adoration.
Koushiro is more adventurous/curious and wants to try everything at least once. Whether or not he likes what they try is hit or miss, but he at least wants to try. What he lacks in natural smoothness/heat, he makes up for in thoroughness, dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly.
There’s probably a lot of stuff I don’t know about, so there are probably more things they won’t do than I can think of, but I guess… Threesomes/swinging/etc is the first thing that comes to mind. Koushiro’s head would probably explode and Eimi might actually start crying on spot from jealousy and insecurity, lol.
44. - Are the comfortable with each other? Anything they have to have their privacy for?
Totally comfortable, although they don’t do PDA. Also, while they bathe together, they won’t, ah, use the WC around each other, shall we say.
Koushiro will share anything with Eimi, even his clothes and computer (although she has her own and rarely uses his). The only thing Eimi is secretive about is her journal and any writing she might be doing in general.
Every once in a while, they like to be alone. Eimi usually goes to the Glen and Koushiro usually closes the door to his office. They don’t like to be apart for much longer than a working day, though. Koushiro in particular has trouble sleeping without Eimi once they start living together; her presence quiets his brain, which has a tendency to keep churning while he’s trying to drift off.
Yikes, that really got long O_O Thanks for the asks!!!

I need a webcomic or something of Izzy using internet slang in his own charmingly nerdy way. Saying "Yas, queen!" to one of the girls out of no where. "That's lit, fam." Someplace else where it would fit but be slightly out of place too. Talkin' about snatching weaves on occasion. I need this in my life so bad you dont understand.
@apple-brightaaaa hi !!! (I’ve been seeing you about in my notifs!) o/[ I’M GLAD TO SEE OTHER KOUSHIRO FANS AROUND AAA …….. ;;;;; ]
pffft I can see where this sentiment comes from definitely, but! ;; I have to admit I’m …much more comfortable/familiar nowadays with writing “ KOUSHIRO ” more than “Izzy”, a-aha…. and to me there’s kind of A LOT of differences there re: mannerisms, way of speaking, Japanese culture vs. for example American + AAVE, pop cultural references between the two in general etc. ?? ?
SO while I can see this eventually happening with “Izzy” (maybe just post-Tri ?? ?) I definitely CAN’T really see it happening with “Koushiro” very much ;;; (Because, even by the end of Tri, “Koushiro” imo was still struggling to communicate feelings in ways here too; etc…. he had VASTLY improved since Adventure/02 that was but still YEAH. /Kokuhaku, [the 3rd Tri film with him co-starring] in general/particularly comes to mind/)
AT THE SAME TIME THOUGH I do believe Koushiro too would eventually begin relaxing [ IF SLIGHTLY ] / opening up a bit more later in life, especially as an adult ??? ;A; ;A;/I guess you could say too I can see MAYBE something like . Miyako ?? ? teaching him some such phrases (since Miyako canonically studies/travels in Spain now, is a LOT more enthusiastic/prone to dropping her catchphrase,[“BINGO” - Japanese version Miyako] + she probably hears/learns things from people she interacts with there as well as Daisuke, Mimi, Wallace etc. when they visit the US [Mimi is canonically friends with the American Chosen too!!!]; etc. ??? ?)
SO LIKE maybe one day Koushiro will deadpan
“ That’s … ‘ lit ’ , … ‘ fam ’ ?? ? ”while responding to Taichi or Mimi OR BOTH or whoever, and they’ll look at him in a startled kind of surprise/total shock, and then
he’ll immediately flush BRIGHT RED and stammer in his own self-defense
“ MIYAKO AND DAISUKE SAY IT A LOT !! ! ! ”
(PFFT I should also mention I’m not super great at creating/writing things on the spot though ;A;/ I WROTE ONE TAISHIRO OTP FIC ….. /ONCE/ and scattered drabble-length oneshots with them/the Adventure Chosen in general and then immediately my creative drive has kind of . stalled . again /OTL I APOLOGIZE /I’m also very much NOT an artist AAA…. I CAN DO AMVS/VIDEO EDITS TO AN EXTENT /BUT/ I also need to have a clear idea there too orz)[ THERE’S A CHANCE KIZUNA MAY REVIVE MY CREATIVE DRIVE ESPECIALLY IF KOUSHIRO ACTUALLY GETS SCREENTIMES WHERE HE’S ACTIVELY INVOLVED AND NOT JUST BEHIND THE COMPUTER BUT/AAAAA SINCE WHEN DOES THAT HAPPEN L B R/WISHES FOR IT ANYHOW ]
#izzyizumi ask box#izzyizumi replies#izzyizumi chatting#izzyizumi headcanons#izzyizumi commentary#koushiro#koushiro commentary#koushiro headcanons#(BTW I APOLOGIZE FOR REPLYING LATE AAA)#(You happened to catch me RIGHT when I was in the middle of returning from a family trip aaa ;; ;; ;)#(I'M BACK NOW but YEAH ;A; THAT)#(this week in general also could have been way better than its' been OOF)#(I'm still a bit busy too because helping out with something else going on AA)#(I DO SEE ALL MESSAGES AND SUCH THOUGH)#(also YES um I try to be very cautious myself when it comes to such cultural references because YES I admit I too uh . uh)#(Am Very Behind)#(VERY BEHIND)#(but also re AAVE especially I try to be SUPER careful because I REALLY don't want to misuse or misunderstand it)#(and tbh I feel it's not mine to use anyhow and I don't particularly want to ? yeah ;;)#(sorry aaaa)

Stay Strong, Taishiro Fans!
I’ve been receiving a lot of kind words from Taishiro fans recently so this post is a quick THANK YOU.
For any of you who may be feeling discouraged since the latest Tri movie, remember what we have always known, for years: Taichi is super compatible with introverts. His canonical closest friends are Sora, Koushiro, and Yamato, and his beloved sister is Hikari. Taichi gets along best with people who are thoughtful and introspective, because Taichi is one of the most thoughtful and introspective characters. Taichi’s arc in season 1 is all about learning to listen to other points of view and to be more sensitive to other people’s feelings.
Tri intuitively understands that Taichi is pensive and kind in addition to having a goofball side, which is great! Unfortunately, Tri has also neglected to emphasize Taichi’s relationship with Koushiro, and it has shown a complete misunderstanding of why Koushiro is such a beloved character.
Koushiro was originally a wonderful character because he was a quiet oddball who was celebrated for being a quiet oddball. He wasn’t chastised for being shy and insecure. Instead, the other characters literally applaud him for his accomplishments. His parents strongly affirm to him that his personal interests aren’t “weird” and that they love him exactly the way he is.
In contrast, Tri mocks Koushiro constantly. He is portrayed as the stereotypical computer geek with no fashion sense and a borderline-creepy interest in pretty girls. Although the writing for him has improved in later movies, he is not celebrated.
This matters for Taishiro because, of course, Taichi is Koushiro’s best friend and Taichi always affirms to Koushiro that he matters. We’ve seen minimal examples of this in Tri because Tri is not that interested in Koushiro’s insecurities. But Meiko’s insecurities are essential to Tri’s plot, so Taichi is finally getting to help her overcome them in significant ways.
The heart of Taishiro—and the reason I live for them—is that they are the Ultimate Wish-Fulfillment Romance. And I know that all shipping is wish-fulfillment, but Taishiro is special. Taishiro feels like, “Oh wow, this amazing handsome athlete is paying attention to me? He’s interested in what I have to say? He cares about my nerdy opinions? He cares about me??”
The irony here is that Taichi x Meiko is being written in the way I’ve always imagined Taishiro happening. They’re written as a wish-fulfillment romance. This is why we see so many sexist criticisms along the lines of, “New Girl doesn’t deserve the Protagonist!” Those critics are missing the whole point of wish-fulfillment. New Girl is supposed to feel insecure and unworthy of the Protagonist, but Protagonist loves her exactly the way she is.
I wish that Tri wasn’t so heteronormative, but that’s old news by now. For my fellow Taishiro fans, take comfort in the knowledge that a Taichi x Koushiro romance still makes lots of sense and lots of fun with Taichi’s Tri characterization. They still have all the potential to be compatible, with a relationship built on the best-written friendship in the original show.
