Benefits Of Using Cryptocurrency
In this article we are going to discuss about the concept of "cryptocurrency". In simple terms, cryptocurrency is a digital currency which is not controlled by any central bank or government. Cryptocurrency is also known as digital money and virtual currency. The main difference between the traditional currencies and the cryptocurrency is that the former is controlled by the government while the latter is not.
The cryptocurrency is usually stored in an encrypted format. This encrypted data is stored in a digital wallet. A digital wallet is a secure file which is stored in a computer system. When you buy any crypto currency, you will be provided with a wallet address. This is the address which will allow you to transfer the cryptocurrency from your wallet to the seller's wallet. If you want to transfer your cryptocurrency back, you need to provide your wallet address.
You can store your cryptocurrency in any wallet. You can store it in a hardware wallet like Ledger Nano S, Trezor or KeepKey. You can also store it in a software wallet like Electrum, Mycelium, Bitcoin Core or Bitcoin Wallet. You can also store it on an exchange like Binance, Coinbase or Kraken.
Cryptocurrency is not a new thing. It has been around for a very long time. However, due to its decentralized nature, people have not heard about it until recently. Nowadays, the world is becoming more and more dependent on technology. People prefer to use online transactions than the physical ones. For this reason, cryptocurrency has become quite popular.
There are many benefits of using cryptocurrency. One of them is that it is a lot cheaper than the traditional currency. Another benefit is that it is easy to transfer. If you want to transfer money from one country to another, you don't need to go through all the hassle of exchanging the currency. All you need to do is to convert your currency into the crypto currency. Then you can transfer the crypto currency to the other person's account.
The biggest benefit of cryptocurrency is that it is completely anonymous. This means that you don't need to give out any personal information before you can make a transaction. So, if you want to buy something, you don't need to give your name, address or any other details. You can simply transfer the amount of money you want to the seller's wallet. The seller can then transfer the money to his own wallet.
Tumblr media
If you want to sell something, you can simply transfer the money from your wallet to the buyer's wallet. The buyer can then transfer the money to the seller's wallet. This is how the process of selling and buying works.
Another benefit of using cryptocurrency is that it is safer than the traditional currency. With the traditional currency, there is always the risk of losing your money. With cryptocurrency, you don't have to worry about losing your money because it is encrypted. If you lose your wallet, you can simply create a new one and start using it again.

The CEO of Telegram was just arrested in a parisian airport for a lack of moderation on his platform. As always, love how proactive my country is when it comes to stifling liberty.
We're just abandoning this over in France then, it had a nice long run as a slogan I guess.
Tumblr media
Let's have a look
Pavel Durov, the co-founder and chief executive of the messaging service Telegram, was arrested and detained on Saturday, according to French media reports.
The Paris prosecutor's office told NPR that a statement about the matter will be issued on Monday.
Law enforcement agents reportedly arrested Durov at Le Bourget Airport outside of Paris, where he was arriving on his private jet from Azerbaijan, according to multiple French press reports.
AFP reported that an arrest warrant had been issued for Durov as a result of an investigation into whether he has failed to crack down on illegal activity including drug trafficking, the promotion of terrorism and fraud on Telegram.
The French newspaper Le Monde reported that the probe is examining whether Durov has refused to cooperate with law enforcement over issues including cyberscams and the spread of child pornography on Telegram.
The Russian Embassy in France released a statement saying it had asked French authorities for an explanation for Durov's detention and asked that his rights be protected and consular access be granted.
Durov, a 39-year-old Russian-born billionaire, is a dual citizen of France and the United Arab Emirates, where he runs Telegram, the Dubai-based messaging service with nearly 1 billion global users.
He is considered “Russia’s Mark Zuckerberg” for in 2007 founding VKontakte, Russian for “in touch,” a Facebook copycat site that became the country’s most popular social network.
In 2013, Durov and his brother, Nikolai, launched Telegram. Pavel Durov fled Russia a year later after his refusal to hand over data on Ukrainian users of VK to Russian authorities.
When Telegram first started, cryptocurrency fanatics were quick to embrace it, and the app has since risen to become one of the most popular messaging services in the world. It has emerged as a go-to place for unfiltered updates on the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
Telegram has a laissez-faire approach to moderating content, which has drawn concern from researchers, who have noted how misinformation, extremism and illicit activity, like drug sales and child pornography, often goes unmoderated.
Some experts have even suspected that Telegram might have links to the Kremlin, which Durov called “inaccurate” in an interview in March with the Financial Times, the first time the reclusive CEO has spoken to the press since 2017.
On Durov’s Instagram, he is often photographed bare-chested, showing off his muscular physique in desert landscapes or posing in infinity pools.
He is regularly seen sporting all-black outfits in an apparent nod to the character Neo from the movie The Matrix.
Content on Telegram ricochets around the web when it is shared to other social networks, where it can often be subject to the content moderation rules of other platforms. But Durov has long championed Telegram as an anything-goes service, with Durov’s supporters hailing him as a free speech hero. ______________________________
Cyberscams are everywhere, got 8 new asks in my inbox since signing out last night and 6 are cyberscams, CP is a different story if that's getting a pass then that's 100% something that needs to be fixed.
I don't use telegram so I don't know what level of moderation if any exists on there, I do know that's one of the ways people get things that normally wouldn't make their way out into the world out there which is good for real information.

Can you imagine what a digital white ethnostate or a cyber caliphate might look like? Having spent most of my career on the inside of online extremist movements, I certainly can. The year 2024 might be the one in which neo-Nazis, jihadists, and conspiracy theorists turn their utopian visions of creating their own self-governed states into reality—not offline, but in the form of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs).
DAOs are digital entities that are collaboratively governed without central leadership and operate based on blockchain. They allow internet users to establish their own organizational structures, which no longer require the involvement of a third party in financial transactions and rulemaking. The World Economic Forum described DAOs as “an experiment to reimagine how we connect, collaborate and create”. However, as with all new technologies, there is also a darker side to them: They are likely to give rise to new threats emerging from decentralized extremist mobilization.
Today, there are already over 10,000 DAOs, which collectively manage billions of dollars and count millions of participants. So far, DAOs have attracted a wild mix of libertarians, activists, pranksters, and hobbyists. Most DAOs I have come across in my research sound innocent and fun. Personally, my favorites include theCaféDAO, which aims “to replace Starbucks” (good luck with that!); the Doge DAO, which wants to “make the Doge meme the most recognizable piece of art in the world”; and the HairDAO, “a decentralized asset manager solving hair loss.” But some DAOs use a more radical tone. For example, the Redacted Club DAO, which is rife with alt-right codes and conspiracy myth references, claims to be a secret network with the aim of “slaying” the “evil Meta Lizard King.”
The year 2024 might be one in which extremists start using DAOs strategically. Policies, legal contracts, and financial transactions that were traditionally the domain of governments, courts, and banks can be replaced with smart contracts, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and cryptocurrencies. The use of anonymous bitcoin wallets and non-transparent cryptocurrencies such as Monero is already widespread among extremists whose bank accounts have been frozen. A shift to entirely decentralized forms of self-governance is only one step away.
Beyond practical reasons that encourage extremists to create their own self-governed structures, there is an ideological incentive too: their fundamental distrust in the establishment. If you believe that the deep state or the “global Jewish elites” control everything from governments and Big Tech to the global banking system, DAOs offer an appealing alternative. Conversations on far-right fringe platforms such as BitChute and Odysee reveal that there is much appetite for decentralized alternative forms of collaboration, communication, and crowdfunding.
So what happens if anti-minority groups establish their own digital worlds in which they impose their own governing mechanisms? What are the stakes if trolling armies start cooperating via DAOs to launch election interference campaigns? The activities of extremist DAOs could challenge the rule of law, pose a threat to minority groups, and disrupt institutions that are currently considered fundamental pillars of democratic systems. Another risk is that DAOs can serve as safe havens for extremist movements by enabling users to circumvent government regulation and security services monitoring activities. They might also allow extremists to find new ways to fundraise, plan, and plot radicalization campaigns or even attacks. While many governments have focused on developing legal frameworks to regulate AI, few have even recognized the existence of DAOs. Their looming exploitation for extremist and criminal purposes is something that has flown under the radar of global policymakers.
Technology expert Carl Miller, who has long warned of potential misuse of DAOs, told me that “even though DAOs behave like companies, they are not registered as legal entities.” There are only a few exceptions: The US states of Wyoming, Vermont, and Tennessee have passed laws to legally recognize DAOs. With no regulations in place to hold DAOs accountable for extremist or criminal activities, the big question for 2024 will be: How can we ensure the metaverse doesn’t give rise to digital white ethnostates or cyber caliphates?

After President Vladimir Putin announced this week that Russia was conscripting some 300,000 reservists and military veterans to reinforce its war effort in Ukraine, international flights out of Russian cities quickly sold out. This latest wave of Russia’s exodus included Anton Shalaev, a 38-year-old senior manager at an IT company, and 15 colleagues.
On less than a day’s notice, these men of military age all left their relatively comfortable lives in downtown Moscow to fly to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Because of Putin’s war, Shalaev tossed a book, an iPad, and a laptop in a backpack and got out of Dodge.
Shalaev and his co-workers are true tech geeks, producers of high-value computer games. They represent their country’s brightest and best, members of a tech elite that was the economic foundation of Russia’s new middle class. In a last selfie from Moscow, Shalaev brandished a coffee mug that bore the slogan, not today, satan.
Anna Nemtsova: Why didn’t you want to be drafted to fight in Ukraine?
Anton Shalaev: On the day Putin declared the war, I knew I would never fight on behalf of this new Nazi Reich. They are my personal enemies: mercenaries who steal my country from me, occupy foreign territories, and kill innocent people. Putin’s army commanders have had plenty of time to turn down their contracts; instead, they are recruiting more cannon fodder now.
So I chose to help Ukrainians suffering from this horror—pay for shelters in Kyiv with cryptocurrency and write antiwar posts on social media. To encourage Russians at home, I said: “Guys, look, I am writing this from Moscow.”
Nemtsova: What was your escape like?
Shalaev: Unlike state-owned companies such as Yandex or the Mail.ru Group, which are making their employees stay, we were independent of government funding, so we made an immediate decision to relocate.
The atmosphere at passport control in the airport was quiet but tense; men waiting for the flight around me were exchanging alerted glances. I had bought my ticket right before the announcement—we were already hearing rumors of the mobilization—so it cost me only about $300. But my colleagues got their tickets the next day, and they cost more than $1,000.
The departure was super stressful. The border guards took each of my friends aside into a small room, interrogated them, asked if they had ever served in the military, and if not, why not. And you know that type of sly border official making their little jokes: “Aha, you are leaving on the day of conscription.” Of course, they checked whether our names were in the database for the mobilization.
Nemtsova: Did you do military service, in fact, when you turned 18?
Shalaev: No, I entered the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, which had a military department, so that released me from the service obligation. I studied political science, and dreamed of becoming a Russian diplomat—Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was a graduate there. For a long time, I considered myself a Russian patriot, ready to serve.
When I enrolled in college, in 2001, there was some ideological diversity: We had a neo-Stalinist who taught us about how “Josef” ruled with an iron fist, but the next class would be with a professor telling us about liberal values. Today, the school recruits students for the secret services. And lately, I heard that the dean has urged students to call for Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to surrender.
Nemtsova: What do you think of the Kremlin’s decision making?
Shalaev: A few old men and an army of zombies are leading us to hell. I say that because people around me in Russia behaved as if they had been bitten by a zombie, dragging my entire country into a dreadful war. All I saw was Russian loser husbands beating their wives, while the entire rotting house of the state system has turned my people into an army of the dead.
They are my enemies.
Nemtsova: What do you know of the situation in Ukraine?
Shalaev: I constantly follow the war news in Ukraine—and I seek out the best, most objective analysts. My main sources on the atrocities are Ukrainian refugees from cities bombed by Russian forces.
I realize that I would rather go to prison than go to fight against the Ukrainian army. I openly embrace my antiwar position. I urge my social-media followers to donate to Ukrainians. This entire war is a crime against humanity.

consequences of illegal behavior, systemic mediocrity follows.
Under toxic National Socialism, Stalinism, and Maoism, millions of cronies and grifters mouthed party lines in hopes that their approved ideology would allow them to advance their careers and excuse their lawbreaking.
The same thing has happened with the woke movement and the now-huge Diversity/Equity/Inclusion conglomerate.
Grifters and opportunists mask their selfish agendas under the cloak of neo-Marxist care for the underprivileged or victimized minorities. Meanwhile, they seek to profit illegally as if they were old-fashioned crony capitalists.
During the disastrous COVID-19 lockdown, California governor Gavin Newsom pontificated about leveraging the quarantine to ensure greater equality: “There is opportunity for reimagining a [more] progressive era as it [relates] to capitalism…We see this as an opportunity to reshape the way we do business and how we govern.”
Meanwhile, Newsom did not seem very “progressive” when he was caught in one of California’s most expensive restaurants dining with sidekick lobbyists while violating the very mask and social distancing rules he had mandated for 40 million others.
Newsom also bragged about social equity when he signed a new California law mandating $20 an hour for fast-food workers—while many of his own employees at his various company-controlled eateries made only $16 an hour.
And he allegedly gave a unique exemption from his wage law to one particular bakery/restaurant chain, Panera, whose owner is an old friend and major campaign contributor.
Newsom apparently feels that the more progressively he postures, the less he’ll be called out for his own hypocrisy and self-interested agendas.
In another egregious case, the now-imprisoned felon, Sam Bankman-Fried, may have been the greatest con artist in American history. He siphoned billions of dollars from his cryptocurrency company, destroying the fortunes of thousands when his multi-billion-dollar Ponzi empire collapsed.
How did Sam and his two Stanford law-professor parents manage to accumulate millions of dollars in resort properties and perks without getting caught until after their empire collapsed?
Answer: Sam showered millions of dollars on left-wing politicians to advance their progressive crusades. His parents justified this family giving as a form of “effective altruism.”
That catchy phrase masked the reality that his crusade for social justice was just an incredibly effective get-rich-quick scheme.
The Bankman-Fried family apparently reasoned that their devotion to this woke form of “altruism” would translate into riches for themselves, albeit bankruptcies for investors.
Another example: in Georgia’s Fulton County, District Attorney Fani Willis ran for office, promising to indict supposed right-wing monster Donald Trump.
She raised campaign money on her woke credentials. Often, when challenged, she played the race victim card.
Meanwhile, Willis hired as a special prosecutor her secret paramour, the incompetent Nathan Wade, although he had never tried a single felony or even criminal case.
She and Wade then went on expensive junkets. She claimed that she reimbursed him with cash that was, of course, unverifiable.
Given their woke ideology, both assumed they were entitled to splurge at taxpayers’ expense, offer likely-false testimony under oath, and violate canons of professional behavior for lawyers.
She wasn’t alone in her corruption. After the death of George Floyd, the founders of the left-wing Black Lives Matter movement went on a house-buying rampage. The more corporations filled their coffers with millions, either from guilt or as protection money, the more new homes the directors purchased.
One co-founder, Patrisse Khan-Cullors, a self-described Marxist, splurged by spending $3.2 million in BLM money to buy herself four upscale residences.
And the most radical Democratic members of Congress—the so-called Squad—apparently feel that the more they level accusations of racism, the more they can profit without fearing any consequences for their wrongdoing.
One squad member, Rep. Ilhan Omar, redirected $2.8 million of her office’s allotted government money to her husband’s political consulting company.
Still another member, the radical leftist Rep. Cori Bush, often harangued the country to defund the police. Now the FBI is investigating her for stealthily paying tens of thousands of campaign dollars to her own husband for “security.”
Woke and DEI activists may not necessarily be any more innately mediocre, corrupt, or conniving than other politicians and activists.
But they seem so, because they loudly broadcast that they are for “diversity,” “equity,” and “inclusion”—and thus assume themselves to be exempt from all scrutiny and free to profit in any way they please.
The woke/DEI project is enticing thousands of shysters, careerists, and mediocrities, all keen to enrich themselves on the premise that they are noble fighters for social justice who deserve immunity from any scrutiny.
How odd it is that America is wasting billions of dollars hiring DEI czars and electing woke politicians who so often accuse others of a multitude of sins, largely as a way of enriching themselves, hiding their own culpability, and making a mockery of the law.

A nice article that goes into recent discoveries (that will probably be a surprise to no one) that white supremacists and neo-Nazi groups are using cryptocurrency to fund themselves.
Stay safe out there.
“Representatives of Kraken and Coinbase said the companies have protections against clients using their exchanges for money laundering, terrorist financing or other illegal activity. But neither company has a policy that specifically addresses hate speech or other extremist activity by their customers.” 😬😬😬

the shift in ideological focus from anti-capitalism to opposition to the corporate business form did a number on radical politics. for one, it made it easier to shuffle naive political discontent into time trodden reactionary and reformist ends: free enterprise ideology with the gloss of neo-proudhonism, ivan illich-infused medical paranoia and opposition to "big pharma" (an ugly ideological sore which now also animates popular transphobia), p2p idealism that has gotten its practitioners nowhere since its heyday in the 90s (if they didn't make a gorillion dollars in a cryptocurrency scam before dropping off the face of the earth in the 2010s).
it's always important to reiterate that the enemy isn't just the shareholders, or a specific organizational form of the company, but private property itself, which is necessarily generative of political inequality. only on that firm of a basis can we avoid reactionary diversions like mere "anti-monopolism" in favor of the mythical "free market" which so many liberals keep stumbling onto.

Earlier this summer, I showed up uninvited at a midtown Manhattan music venue, where a startup named the Praxis Society was holding an event as part of a weeklong series to promote its flagship product: a free-market Mediterranean city-state the company hopes to build under the leadership of a CEO who, former employees said, is interested in fascist authors and occultism and has touted a book that argues Black people are intellectually inferior to whites.
Praxis, a for-profit corporation, was founded as Bluebook Cities in 2019 by Californian Dryden Brown and former Boston College wide receiver Charlie Callinan. They envisioned an autonomous enclave where the free-market dreams of Chicago and Austrian school economists would become reality, a place libertarians could settle without the tyranny of regulation. While the project draws inspiration from ancient Greece and Rome, Brown, the company’s CEO, said in a 2021 interview that its style would be “hero futurism” with a “neo-Gilded Age kind of aesthetic.”
If this sounds like fantasy, it probably is. But it’s one that’s captured the minds of real—and really rich—people. In 2021, the company’s seed round raised roughly $4 million, including from Pronomos Capital, a libertarian city-building fund started in 2019 with significant financial backing from Thiel. Other participants included Thiel’s close friend Balaji Srinivasan; Joe Lonsdale, who cofounded the analytics and intelligence company Palantir Technologies with Thiel; and Bedrock Capital, a fund launched by a former partner in Thiel’s Founders Fund. Praxis followed up several months later with a Series A round that brought in $15 million, much of it from cryptocurrency investors, including Three Arrows Capital and Sam Bankman-Fried’s Alameda Research, which both later spectacularly imploded. Emergent Ventures, another Thiel-backed fund led by economist Tyler Cowen and housed in George Mason University’s Koch-supported Mercatus Center, has also invested.
Brown and at least one other senior Praxis employee were interested in “this strange Nazi occultism,” one of those three ex-staff members said, citing the pair’s appreciation of Evola, who co-authored another book offering “instructions for developing psychic and magical powers,” according to its contemporary publisher. (Scholars have written about Nazi links to Ariosophy—an esoteric ideology blending mysticism, racism, nationalism, and antisemitism—and documented the SS’s fascination with Norse mythology and Eastern spiritual traditions. If you’ve seen Raiders of the Lost Ark, you know the Hollywood version.) Another of those former employees, also citing Evola, confirmed Brown’s interest in the occultist bent of the SS. An internal slideshow briefing staff on the company’s brand and philosophy presented Evola’s thinking on the four “functional classes” or castes, and suggested the categories should guide the company’s recruitment of new members and prospective residents, according to that former worker.
“When you’re hired,” one former employee said, “you get a welcome packet with 11 book recommendations. One of them is Bronze Age Mindset,” an openly racist and fascist book by the anonymous far-right influencer Bronze Age Pervert that warns of a coming struggle against the “enemies of Western man and the enemies of beauty.”
Part of the company’s strategy involves drawing participants in New York’s downtown scene to its events in the hope of bringing some on board. Succession actress Dasha Nekrasova, a leading light of the so–called Dimes Square set and a co-host of Red Scare—a once-socialist podcast that has taken a turn to the right—attended a June black-tie banquet at the Yale Club for current and prospective members. Thiel money has also directly funded downtown events attended by the arty set Praxis is trying to lure; in 2022, BuzzFeed News revealed the billionaire’s financial backing of the New People’s Cinema Club, which boasted of screening transgressive films without mind to political correctness. Jokes about sloshing “Thielbucks” among the anti-woke downtown set have become a meme.
In Brown’s vision, Thiel’s or his associates’ money wouldn’t just be going to film impresarios or their parties; it would go toward a city where both young neo-reactionaries and their post-left associates might have a hand in forging something tangible, something beyond a podcast or a Substack. Of course, Praxis hasn’t done anything tangible. But even if construction never starts, the company’s inroads with the scene are another vector for reactionary Silicon Valley perspectives to acquire cultural purchase.
The company has scoped a rotating set of possible sites for its city along the Mediterranean shore. Kunapuli told me they were trying to decide between Italy and Morocco. (I later heard Montenegro is in the mix.) “There’s tradeoffs,” Kunapuli acknowledged, as we looked at the renderings. Italy is more trusted by Westerners, a place where Praxis company leaders believe government and industry are more likely to come through on legal contracts, he explained, before conceding the same conditions would make it “harder to influence and change regulations and policies” than in Morocco.
A record-breaking heat wave and forest fires would end up hitting the Mediterranean a month later. As best as I could tell, Praxis didn’t have a plan to shield its new-Gilded Age city from such catastrophes. As it turns out, you can’t exit everything.

Understanding SEC's New Regulations on Cryptocurrencies in Binance
The world of cryptocurrency has always been a wild ride, full of highs and lows. With the recent news about the U.S. SEC's decision to regulate twelve specific cryptocurrencies on Binance, it’s essential for both seasoned investors and newcomers to grasp what this means for them.
What's the Big Deal?
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken recognition of the rapid growth and popularity of cryptocurrencies. With that, they’ve set their eye on a dozen cryptocurrencies available for trading on Binance, a major cryptocurrency exchange. This decision is aimed at overseeing the market, protecting investors, and maintaining fair trading practices.
Impacted Cryptocurrencies
According to the announcement, here is a list of cryptocurrencies that are most affected:
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
Neo (NEO)
Cardano (ADA)
Tron (TRX)
Dash (DASH)
Monero (XMR)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Litecoin (LTC)
Algorand (ALGO)
Stellar (XLM)
Quant (QNT)
VeChain (VET)
These coins have been noted for potential risks and regulatory issues, creating a stir among traders who either hold or are considering investing in them.
Why Regulation Matters
Regulation is a double-edged sword. On one side, it can enhance investor confidence by ensuring that trading platforms comply with certain rules. This can lead to more people entering the market, which could normalize cryptocurrency as a legitimate form of investment. On the other hand, stringent regulations may deter smaller investors who fear hefty compliance costs, or who find the landscape too complicated to navigate.
Binance's Position
Binance has long been in a grey area regarding compliance and regulations. The exchange has made efforts to adapt, such as enforcing KYC (Know Your Customer) policies and striving for greater transparency. The recent SEC regulations may enforce Binance to revise its offerings, potentially delisting certain cryptocurrencies or increasing its compliance investments.
How Should Investors React?
For investors, it’s vital to stay informed. Here are some steps you might consider:
Educate yourself about the specific cryptocurrencies you hold.
Monitor news regarding SEC regulations closely.
Consult with a financial advisor, particularly if you’re projected to invest in any of the affected cryptocurrencies.
Diversify your portfolio to mitigate potential risks.
In Conclusion
The SEC's regulation of these twelve cryptocurrencies marks a significant milestone in the world of digital assets. While change is daunting, understanding regulations and trends can empower investors to make informed decisions. Whether this leads to a more robust crypto market or creates further complications remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: the evolution of cryptocurrencies is ongoing.
Stay tuned to our blog for more insights into the ever-changing landscape of finance and investment technology!

Blockchain Engineer Salary for Freshers and Experienced
Tumblr media
Since its launch in 2008, blockchain technology has proven to be a game-changer. Blockchain was first applied by Bitcoin, the forerunner of decentralized cryptocurrencies, but it has far more uses than just virtual money. A blockchain is an unchangeable record kept by a group of miners impenetrable to tampering. Because of this novel technology, there is a great need for qualified workers, particularly Blockchain engineers, who are essential to advancing and using this technology. In this post, we will examine the field of blockchain engineering, looking at starting pay and salaries for seasoned workers.
Factors Affecting the Pay of Blockchain Engineers
A blockchain engineer's pay varies widely for several reasons, including:
1. Experience and Role: In this area, experience plays a significant role in determining remuneration. The average yearly compensation for freshers or entry-level Blockchain engineers with less than a year of experience is USD 5,228. However, senior Blockchain engineers can command an excellent average annual income of USD 164,761 if they have 2-4 years of software expertise and up to 1 year of Blockchain experience.
2. Employer and Company: A Blockchain engineer's pay may vary considerably depending on their choice of employer. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Solulab Inc., IBM, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, McKinley Rice, Suffescom Solutions, and Capgemini are a few well-known companies that provide reasonable pay.
3. Skill set: A Blockchain engineer's earning potential might be increased by having a varied skill set. Higher salaries may result from expertise in distributed systems, networking, data structures, cryptography, web development, brilliant contract creation, and blockchain platforms like Ethereum and NEO. Agile techniques, SQL networking, and programming languages like Python, JavaScript, and Node.js are all beneficial.
4. certificates: The pay of a Blockchain engineer might rise dramatically with the possession of pertinent certificates. Salary ranges for professional certification programs range from USD 3,034.55 to USD 29,131.68.
5. Location: Another critical factor influencing blockchain engineer pay is location. Compensation payments differ depending on the region:
India: A developing center for blockchain technology, India pays blockchain developers an average of about USD 8,574.15 annually.
United States: With an average yearly pay of USD 108,539, the US leads the world in demand for Blockchain developers.
United Kingdom: With an average pay of $75,123, blockchain development is becoming increasingly popular in the country.
United Arab Emirates (UAE): Distinguished for its technological prowess, the UAE offers blockchain developers an average salary of USD 4,764.37.
Australia: With an average income of USD 83,707.84, the Australian employment market values Blockchain competence.
Canada: Canadian businesses are looking for Blockchain developers with an average pay of USD 100,000.
Singapore: With an average income of USD 95,865, Singapore is a leading Blockchain market.
Germany: A job in blockchain development offers a salary potential between USD 60,000 and USD 150,000.
Philippines: The country embracing blockchain technology pays blockchain developers an average of USD 8,201.70.
A Blockchain engineer's educational history may also affect their pay:
B.Tech: In India, an individual with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree may expect to make between $5,000 and $6,000 per year.
BCA: In India, professionals with a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree can start working in the industry for a salary that ranges from US$3,000 to US$6,000.
MCA: In India, entry-level jobs typically pay around USD 6,310, but those with a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree can earn more excellent salaries, averaging over USD 7,940.
Why Do Blockchain Engineers Get Such High Salary?
The high compensation available to Blockchain engineers is a result of several causes, including:
Talent Scarcity: There is a small pool of highly qualified experts in the specialized field of blockchain development. As more companies use Blockchain technology, there is a greater need for engineers with this kind of experience, which raises compensation.
Cybersecurity: Blockchain is well known for providing unmatched protection against cyberattacks and data security. Cybersecurity is crucial in today's digital environment; businesses are prepared to pay more for professionals who can ensure their assets are safe.
Financial Sector: Blockchain is a significant component of the banking, insurance, and finance sectors' safe transaction and asset management processes. Blockchain engineers who create reliable protocols for financial tasks are paid high wages.
Multifaceted Role: The duties of blockchain engineers are varied and include understanding databases, data structures, and cryptography, creating applications, and assessing technology requirements. They are well compensated and in great demand due to their complex task and lack of talent.
Unlocking Blockchain Technology's Potential
Blockchain technology is more than a fad. This field is developing quickly and has a plethora of promise. In addition to being a distributed ledger and financial network, Blockchain provides a transparent and safe base for a wide range of applications. The paramilitary group Rusich is one of multiple Russian far-right and neo-Nazi organizations that have fought in the war in Ukraine. Because it’s not an official part of the Russian Armed Forces, Rusich has had to find alternative ways of funding its members’ military equipment and medical needs — and has found the perfect solution in cryptocurrency. Meduza special correspondent Lilia Yapparova explains how Russian white supremacists have used the blockchain Ethereum to siphon money from a Ukrainian charity foundation — and how they’ve encouraged other Russian fighters to use crypto to extort money from the families of murdered POWs.
I strongly encourage reading this article (and subscribing to and supporting Meduza in general obvi)
Mercenaries turned hackers
The logo of the Ukrainian charity foundation Happy New Life depicts two hands opening towards the sky, a “tree of life” growing out of them. On its website, donors can send money to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces, provide aid to refugees, and even assist victims in the case of “radiation contamination in Europe” — a potential consequence of Russia's occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the site explains.
The foundation, created in June 2022, was an outgrowth of a volunteer initiative from Dnipro, its director, Daniel Ovcharenko, told Meduza. And to give the organization "at least some kind of [online] face,” he said, its creators made a “very inexpensive” website for it. The site shows pictures of Ukrainian children and soldiers along with a call to action: “Today, we’re fighting against a terrorist state. And our victory will be the victory of the entire civilized world… Sometimes lighting a candle is enough to overpower the darkness.” The other half of the screen shows large “Donate” button.”
But Meduza has learned that at least a portion of the money donated through the site has gone not to Ukrainian causes but to the Russian paramilitary group Rusich — a detachment of neo-Nazis fighting in Ukraine on the side of the Russian army. At the very least, that’s who owns the cryptocurrency wallet listed as a donation method on the Happy New Life site, according to financial investigator Artem Irgebaev, who has thoroughly examined Rusich’s network of crypto accounts.
Rusich is known for its brutality. It leader, neo-Nazi Alexey Milchakov, has been photographed next to the mutilated bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, and the detachment’s Telegram channel has called for the torture of Ukrainian POWs and the murder of civilians.
Happy New Life founder Daniel Ovcharenko doesn’t know how the address for Rusich's crypto wallet got on the foundation’s site; according to him, a link to the charity’s own wallet used to be in the same spot on the homepage.
“I got the wallet that the foundation uses from [the cryptocurrency wallet software] MetaMask — and it’s completely different, except that the first three characters are the same [as the address of Rusich's wallet],” Ovcharenko told Meduza. He admitted that he himself had very little involvement with the site, and that he “didn’t double check the digits in the address [listed on its homepage].”
At some point, Rusich managed to hack into the Happy New Life site and switch out the crypto wallet link, Irgebaev told Meduza.
“A similar thing happened with a site that sold proxy servers, where one of the payment methods was crypto. An attacker replaced the site owner’s [crypto wallet] address with his own, and the site then worked like that for two days: people sent money not to the person selling servers, but to the hacker,” he explained. “Internet scammers do this regularly. And Rusich, it’s becoming clear, is a group with wide-ranging ‘talents’ — they have both mercenaries and hackers.”
The Rusich crypto wallet linked on the Happy New Life site is still receiving deposits. According to Etherscan.io, a website that catalogs Ethereum blockchain transactions, the wallet contains more than $7,000 with the current exchange rate.
Funding body armor through cybercrime
In late July, financial investigator Artem Irgebaev downloaded a game called Synthetik: Legion Rising from a torrent website.
“My friends and I downloaded this ancient shooting game [Editor's note: the game came out in 2018] that was 700 megabytes, and we noticed that [after the torrent file downloaded on our computers, they started exhibiting] this sort of unhealthy behavior,” Irgebaev said. “We shut off the Internet and started digging to find out what kind of malware this was and what it was doing.”
The program didn’t steal any passwords, nor did it try to hijack their accounts. But upon closer inspection, Irgebaev “found several crypto wallet addresses directly in binary code.” It became clear that his device had been infected by something called clipboard malware that was built to steal cryptocurrency:
Here’s how it looks to the victim. Let’s say you want to send money to your friend. Entering his 32-character crypto wallet address is a tedious task, so you just copy it from your notes [to paste it] straight into your wallet or exchange account. The address goes onto your clipboard, and at that moment, the malware replaces it with the attackers’ address. Then, instead of going to the person the user intended, the money goes to the scammers.
Irgebaev gave Meduza the addresses found in the malware’s code. Both of them appear on lists of addresses associated with clipboard malware on the sites Bitcoinabuse.com and Checkbitcoinaddress.com, where people can post complaints about crypto wallets used by hackers and blackmailers.
But according to Irgebaev, the malware that infected his computer also had another function: it automatically installed cryptocurrency mining software on the infected device. “And the victim’s computer would start mining crypto,” he said.
Irgebaev stressed that at first, the malware didn’t surprise him: “It’s a standard scam. Nothing stood out.” But out of curiosity, he decided to Google the crypto wallet addresses contained in the code. That’s how he learned that they belonged not to run-of-the-mill hackers, but to the Russian neo-Nazi paramilitary group Rusich.
“[When I Googled the addresses], I immediately saw Telegram posts from Z (Editor’s note: pro-war) channels where users were soliciting donations for uniforms and gear for members of the pro-war activist group Rusich,” Irgebaev said. “Before, I thought that Russian hackers were focused on interfering in American elections. But as it turned out, this clipboard malware was a way of raising money for body armor.”
The funds sent to the paramilitary group’s crypto wallet are indeed used to fund combat equipment for Rusich fighters, who were seen on the Ukrainian front in April 2022. (By September, five crypto wallets belonging to the group came under U.S. sanctions.)
According to the group’s own Telegram channel, since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Rusich fighters have “worked” in the Kharkiv region, including in the village of Dovhenke, where they reportedly suffered serious losses (likely in July 2022). Later, in August, the group attacked the village of Marinka in the Donetsk region; the same month, multiple Rusich fighters were injured in combat in Zaporizhzhia. In October, the group posted a video on social media that showed its fighters firing on a Ukrainian evacuation brigade as it rushed to a medical vehicle.
Neo-Nazis on the dark web
The malware used by Rusich infected Irgebaev's computer after he downloaded a torrent file. That meant the paramilitary group must have had the necessary skills not only to built the program itself, but also to embed it in the file — in other words, the group had managed to gain access to the site with the torrest catalog.
However, Irgebaev told Meduza, planting the malware on the site may not have taken much technical expertise at all: the most likely explanation was that the neo-Nazis had paid professional cybercriminals to do the job for them.
This is called cybercrime as a service: every step of the crime consists of a service that can be purchased.
First, you buy access to the program you need on a shadow forum. Malware is usually something people rent — for example, $200 for a monthly subscription.
And to ensure that potential victims install the software, you can just pay the torrent catalog owner to add the malicious code to their torrents.
On the dark web, Rusich established relationships not only with hackers but also with drug traffickers — and, according to the group’s crypto wallets, they did deals with them as well.
“Between July and October 2022, the [Rusich] Sabotage and Assault Reconnaissance Group received $1,787 from three separate shadow marketplaces for drugs,” Irgebaev said.
The vendors or administrators of these dark web platforms may also have fallen victim to the malware distributed by Rusich — or they may have just paid for the group's services, according to Irgebaev. (Meduza has not found evidence that Rusich fighters were hired by these drug dealers.)
But there’s also another possibility: the entities who sent money to Rusich may have used the drug marketplaces to anonymize their transactions.
“Dark web stores act as large [money] laundering [schemes],” Irgebaev explained. “Upon registering, users receive personal accounts that they can deposit money into — but inside of the shop, transactions are done not with cryptocurrency, but with the platform’s internal currency. So the transactions themselves between clients and sellers are not visible in the blockchain; you can determine that money went into the marketplace, but it’s impossible to track where it went from there.”
That’s why Irgebaev knows the amounts Rusich received from the dark web stores, but not who sent the money.
Rusich itself also made purchases on the dark web, though not large ones. “An offering to the mephedrone demon, probably,” said Irgebaev. “The amount they spent will buy you a gram of something.”
$160,000 of ‘donations’
Large sums of money are constantly passing through Rusich’s crypto wallets. According to Irgebaev, the paramilitary group has received about $1,100 from mining, though it’s unclear whether the crypto was mined using servers that belong to the neo-Nazis themselves or with mining software planted on computers belonging to malware victims.
Rusich has received more than $160,000 through direct transactions to its crypto wallets. In its official fundraising announcements, the group shares the addresses of the same wallets it uses for hacking. According to Irgebaev, however, it’s quite possible that all of the money has come from malware and that none of it was willingly donated. This includes:
A total of 27.895704431 ETH (more than $45,000) was sent to Rusich's wallet on the Ethereum blockchain over the course of 146 transactions, with an average “donation” of more than $300;
A total of 2.26113377 BTC (more than $47,000) was sent to Rusich’s wallet on the Bitcoin blockchain over the course of 433 transactions, with an average “donation” of about $108;
51.811099906 ETC (about $1,228) was sent to Rusich’s wallet on the Ethereum Classic blockchain, with an average “donation” of about $1,228;
20,142.378595 USDC (more than $20,000) was sent to Rusich’s wallet on the USD Coin blockchain, with an average donation of $5,000;
And 51,000 USDT (about $51,000) was sent to Rusich’s wallet on the Ethereum blockchain over the course of 49 transactions, with an average “donation” of more than $1,000.
The scale of these transactions, and especially the sizes of the average individual deposits, led Irgebaev to suspect that they weren’t just casual contributions from Telegram users who encountered Rusich's calls for donations on “patriotic” channels.
“For me, the ‘donations’ of 0.1 bitcoin — which is a little over $2,000 — from addresses that emptied their accounts look quite dubious,” he told Meduza. “In other words, the entire balances of these wallets were sent to Rusich. And the wallets haven't been used since.”
Meduza asked Rusich leader Alexey Milchakov about all of it: the incoming money, the deals with the online drug marketplaces, the hacking of the Ukrainian charity foundation, and the malware that was used to steal cryptocurrency. He confirmed everything:
We have our own IT and finance departments that do indeed perform the operations you asked about. Yes, our IT department’s capabilities include hacking websites and other Internet resources belonging to the enemy, as well as other subversive activities in the information sphere, including work not only against the former so-called “Ukraine” (our work is much broader). And hacking the resource you mentioned [i.e. the Ukrainian charity website] is just the tip of the iceberg. And the department’s employees who have a direct impact on the deaths of the greatest number of people each month, by the way, are awarded very generously.
The finance department handles operations related to cryptocurrency, gemstones, money laundering (only outside of Russia: we respect the laws of our country) and cash-in-transit, including frequent trips to black market businessmen interested in becoming major sponsors (Mexico, Hong Kong, Somali, etc.). Our project receives huge (in our opinion) support from gangs, cartels, and syndicates who are unhappy with the planetary hegemony of the U.S.
Milchakov added that the Russians fighting in Ukraine as part of Rusich may receive donations from online drug dealers, including in the form of painkillers. In Milchakov’s view, the darknet marketplaces are “true patriots of Russia.”
“I personally don’t receive or store the division’s money,” he stressed. “I only decide how it gets spent.”
‘You relish their cries’
Rusich spends the crypto funds it raises on medical treatment for injured fighters as well as on the equipment it needs to keep fighting in the war: Motorola walkie-talkies, helmets, drone jammers, diesel generators, winter uniforms, sleeping bags, sights for anti-tank grenade launchers, stoves, and more.
But since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, in addition to using the blockchain for its own purposes, Rusich also started promoting crypto among other Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine. In September 2022, the group proposed that other Russian formations use bitcoin to extort money from the relatives of Ukrainian POWs.
“Don’t just give up [...] the bodies of POWs [after you kill them],” the group urged on its Telegram channel. “Take a photo where the face is visible, and offer to let the relatives purchase information about their son or husband’s burial location for an amount between $2,000 and $5,000. The money can be sent to a Bitcoin wallet.”
That’s just a small excerpt of the group’s advice for interrogating Ukrainian soldiers; they also instructed Russian fighters to use torture when necessary to extract information from POWs that can later be used to target their families. “Chop off their fingers, cut off an ear, hit them in the groin or around their joints, [or] drive needs under their fingernails,” they wrote on social media. “Don’t be afraid to kill prisoners!”
Rusich fighters have advocated for the murder of civilians as well — for example, if they’ve witnessed Russian soldiers “screwing up.” The neo-Nazis have also called for ethnic cleansing on the occupied territories. “The entire non-white population [...] should be physically destroyed (some of them through scientific experiments),” representatives of the detachment wrote on Telegram. (The post was later deleted.)
Rusich's leaders have made no secret of the fact that they never planned to comply with international humanitarian law. “When you kill a piglet — everyone knows who I mean by ‘piglet’ — you enjoy the fact that his wife is becoming a widow,” Rusich member Yevgeny Rasskazov said in an interview in August. “You relish how they cry out for their whole family, how he’ll come home in a coffin. And you get an erection.”
“When you kill a person, you feel the excitement of the hunt. If you haven’t hunted, try it,” said Rusich leader Alexey Milchakov in an interview published in December 2020. One year and three months later, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
