Personal headcanon about the "you picked the wrong dellamorte" line, I don't think illario actually likes rook outside the context of them being someone close to lucanis. Like rook on their own isn't much to him, but when they meet it's yet another person talking about his cousin (why isn't he good enough for whatever job they're hiring for?) and on top of that they somehow bring him back from the dead (another whole can of worms for illario). Now he starts turning on the charm, but whether he's actually interested or this is just one more thing his cousin has that he doesn't and it gets under his skin, who knows. Either way, rook ignores illario, the guy who lives off his charm, and is instead interested in the guy who's never even dated before and thinks giving someone a knife is how to flirt. Infuriating

NO THANK YOU !! i am genuinely sorry if i have ever implied illario is into rook like i see some takes about it and unless it like ties into your rook's personal backstory i don't seriously think he's romantically jealous. at all. my enjoyment of that line stems from illario's pathological need to make it about himself and not see his strengths but what lucanis has, and therefore what he doesn't. he's annoyed enough to try and goad you in the middle of a fight about the 'wrong' dellamorte and completely blind to the fact that the venatori are at best, a stupid fucking alliance, and at worst, a cult that will devour the crows from the inside out and illario would have been the one to give them the keys. he sees lucanis make allies, needs his own, and instead of charming the other talons/houses as he should, he (probably spitefully) picks the venatori. or maybe he just thought it would be easier. ugh he makes me want to telekenetically throw him around

idle thought: is the entire plan with the bedrock prison just. too noble to ever work on ls. like, even in a perfect world where zam was into it or not on the team at all and they went through with it-- and even if they found a way to make it not like. forever solitary confinement (or like even if its not solitary i mean like-- a box with nothing in it that MAYBE periodically feeds you even if other ppl were there youd all start loosing it sooner or later i feel like). like even if the prison was ethical and noble and just and the plan worked perfectly: would that even be lifesteal.

if grendel disappears, or goes away or gives up his war before beowulf kills him, thats it. theres no grendel. theres no BEOWULF. there are, essentially, three core parts of beowulf the epic poem: the fight against grendel, the fight against grendel's mother, and the fight against the dragon. without the first the second and third cant happen. without grendel to push against, the danes are nothing.

if vitalasy's prison worked, and no one ever did anything evil or tyrannical ever again and no one thought he was evil because they all read his intentions perfectly and Got It. what would happen on lifesteal with no one to push against.

a few months ago, before he lost the mace, before subz dropped his wardens, in like late february-early march, there was a mapicc clip i saw where he said something along the lines of, at least if zam were on the server he'd give me an opp. server activity was low, everyone was doomposting about the season needing to end, and mapicc needed someone to push against.

i think even if vitalasys prison worked, it goal would not have been achieved. server activity would not be up. conflict ending means no more reason to play on the server-- mcrp NEEDS player-vs-player conflict to function or it stops being lore and becomes a mod video. i dont know what phases 3-5 were, i'm not there yet, but i'm really really interested-- i think vitalasy has a video on it and ill have to check that out probably today. idk. its just interesting to think about esp since im trying to figure out howd id fix this if i were to hypothetically write a fix-it au. i think the prison would fail.

look i get bton has set up some seeds (ba dum tiss?) that polin will be the pairing in the Featherington Family to have a male heir first (and it's popular in the fandom as an endgame for them) and thus will inherit the estate but

consider the following:

they find out about it and go 'ahahahah NOPE' and thus become co-conspirators to get Pru or Phillipa preggo before them. because with inheriting the estate. . .what they really inherit is the debt. and neither of them are eager for that anytime soon

and Colin and Penelope come together at the end of all their schemes like 'well. . .there goes Plan A. . .and B. . .and C through G' as Penelope frantically wonders if she can get Gen to pull Prudence aside and Colin is contemplating which of his brothers he can bribe enough to have the 'So, women have multiple holes' discussion w/' Albion because he refuses to be the one to do it

meanwhile, Portia is out here making potions to try to get one of her daughters to have a baby because thus far, she's batting 0 for 3, and Polin's schemes somehow always end up in direct opposition to her schemes, thus canceling out each time

I got left alone with my thoughts too long earlier and started thinking about greed and how he's positioned between the other homunculi and humans. none of the other homunculi show off their ouroboros tattoos as much as he does. they don't particularly hide their tattoos (except when in disguise/not counting wrath) but greed LOVES showing off his tattoo, it's the first thing he does when introducing himself constantly. he's also the first one to proudly declare he's a homunculus, despite having distanced himself from the rest of the homunculi

at the same time, he immediately draws an association between himself and human beings. he describes himself as an artificially made human, which is the literal definition of what a homunculus is, and his willingness to explain how he's not that far from humans (his body structurally being the same as a human, describing himself as sturdier than most but not truly immortal) is what allows ed to figure out his weakness. meanwhile the other homunculi would literally rather die than position themselves as at all similar to humans. this is consistent with the fact that all the other homunculi, at best, look down on humanity, and at worst, feel intense contempt for humans, meanwhile greed seems to be amused by humans, if not outright fond of them

idk i just think it's interesting that the rest of the homunculi completely divorce themselves from humanity and position themselves as superior, but greed is the one to actually embrace the definition of homunculus as an artificial human

third thought about the frenzyflame influence/casting/plot of the au: there's probably some antagonism going on between the two of them regarding john using incants that are physically very taxing on arthur's body. like john probably does it without thinking once, the first time he's gotten strong enough to do it and feels that they're in danger, and then gets immediately defensive when arthur complains and it remains a sore point for a while regarding when the situation is dire enough to merit it
