I headcanon that Eggman designed all his robots' processors to only be properly cooled and ventilated while they're in motion- the logic behind this rationale is pretty simple. A robot at rest is not in a combat situation, and out of a combat situation they don't need their full processing capabilities. They don't have to think as hard when they're standing still, yeah?

In contrast, calculating the endless possibilities of a combat scenario requires some pretty beefy processing power. It just makes sense to use the air resistance from a robot in motion to enhance the baseline function of otherwise underperforming processor cooling fans, right?

Unfortunately, for Eggman's more sentient robots, this is a bit of a glaring design flaw.

Metal Sonic can't think at full capacity when he's not in flight, and Omega's rage literally spurs him into action otherwise he's at risk of overheating his processor.

there's been no point in me buying or looking at anything IDW for ages again, huge Eggman draught as usual. you're lucky when he appears in a flashback panel. there's usually only a 0.001% of him being in something for more than a couple pages before disappearing for months again

atp I'm more interested in a comic series that's just entirely focused on whatever the fuck Eggman is doing whenever he's off screen for so long. it'd genuinely be more interesting and entertaining to me. the most interesting part of the IDW issues he isn't in for me are my thoughts of "I wonder what Eggman is doing rn" lol

it’s so funny to me that if you go by current game canon (where the koopalings aren’t bowsers kids) then technically eggman has been a father longer than bowser (metal sonic, who's currently treated as eggman's adoptive kid, originated in 1993, while bowser jr, who's currently treated as bowser's only kid, originated in 2002) like this obviously is only a very technical thing bc the koopalings really should be bowsers kids and it’s dumb they aren’t while eggdad only really started being played into relatively recently (as in, at least a decade ago, considering the Olympic Games series exists and downright considers bowser jr and metal sonic counterparts lol)

Don’t mind me, I’m just realizing the worst part of Surge and Kit’s situation?

It’s that both Sonic and Eggman will always see them as “another”/”more” of something.

Surge is just seen as ANOTHER evil knockoff of Sonic. To Sonic, her and Kit are just MORE potential friends. To Eggman, they’re just MORE potential weapons. Nothing unique. Just another among many. More among many.

They still don’t truly understand the actual implications behind them. The actual pain they’re in. Neither side understands ANYTHING that makes them different from any other enemy they’ve faced before.

Surge and Kit are a symbol of how the pure black-and-white morality that has been instilled in the Sonic universe since the Pontaff era has become a WEAKNESS for BOTH SIDES.

And nothing is going to be done about this because of the outdated mandates LOLMAO

thinking about wreck it ralph sonic,what if there was a sequel where,like how turbo was a classic arcade mascot character who became a cautionary tale about game jumping and the twist villain, sonic also became the twist villain of the next movie,,

since he isn't actually classic sonic despite assumably having an arcade cabinet there, you could make it so that he game jumped himself, probably via the internet,and have it be revealed when the main characters see someone post about their glitched sonic game that has a missing modern sonic/an extra or random classic sonic,,maybe after they find out he threatens them with his specific warning from the first movie about how you die forever if you die outside your game,,,maybe

Episode idea: the kids decide to invite Welony to a sleepover, because even though they don't fully trust her yet they've seen that she is taking responsibility for her past self's actions and is trying to be a better person, and anyway they were willing to give Root a chance after All That and are friends with Sage despite her being a currently active supervillain so they don't really have a convenient excuse to not extend a figurative olive branch. Unfortunately, Lil Coding's programming has been acting up a little ever since he recovered from getting Reset(those little bug viruses can do a number on ya), and he accidentally pulls them into a shared dream.

Initially they just use this as an excuse to goof off in a world with no rules and check out everyone's favorite dreams, but things slowly start going awry as little bits and pieces of everyone's nightmares start seeping in.

And then they eventually end up in Welony's dream, a dark, twisted forest made entirely with Majora's Mask assets where a bunch of Skull Kids with watermelon masks start hunting them down. At first some of them think she's doing this on purpose, revealing that she's just as bad as before...until they find the current version of her getting tormented by a nightmarishly exaggerated version of her past self, both verbally and physically attacking her in an...uncomfortably well-acted scene. Thankfully the kids manage to help her fight off her demons by using Dream Logic to their advantage and also having a Big Emotional Honesty Moment, and when they win they all wake up.

The reactions afterward are a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand this is a big step towards the group fully accepting the new Welony. On the other hand, nobody's getting back to sleep tonight.

I think my biggest red flag is that I'd actually be super interested in reading an Eggman redemption fic that isn't a Mr. Tinker mindwipe scenario, and no, I'm not kidding.
