In which Harry takes a wrong turn chasing down Bellatrix in the Ministry, and typical tomarry time travel ensues. Only in this fic, Voldemort follows Harry back into the past.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Voldemort surveys the wreckage of the Time Room with a strange mix of dismay and disappointment. Potter’s nowhere in sight, and neither is the prophecy. Rogers is present, though, his head aging and deaging cyclically.
Voldemort eyes him curiously for a split-second, but he has no time to study this odd phenomena now. He summons a pinch of time sand from amidst the shattered remains of the time turners and enchants it, then summons Rogers’ panicking form over to him.
“Be still,” he orders, then, with a flick of his wand, sends the sand spinning around Rogers’ face. It sinks into the Death Eater’s skin, and at last the transformation stops, leaving Rogers as the adult he should be.
“My Lord!” the man gasps. “Thank you, thank you, I—”
“Enough,” Voldemort hisses. “Where is Potter?”
Rogers pales. “He—he—Bellatrix—they were fighting and he just—he vanished, I don’t know—”
Voldemort grabs Rogers by the jaw, yanking him close, digging his nails into the man’s skin. “Lord Voldemort does not have time for pathetic stammering. Show me.” He doesn’t bother securing the Death Eater's permission before diving into the man’s mind.
Voldemort pushes Rogers away once he’s finished, letting him fall to the floor. Voldemort observes the room, casting several charms to detect traces of magic. Despite a moment of dismay at the possible loss of Bella, he’s tempted to believe Potter has vaporized himself by messing about with such turbulent magic. The boy's disappearance would certainly make Voldemort's circumstances easier, but he had so wanted to demonstrate his superiority before his followers.
“My Lord,” comes Lucius’s voice from behind him, and Voldemort turns to find Lucius dropping into a kneel in the Time Room’s doorway. “The Aurors have been alerted to our presence.” Lucius keeps his head down, so he misses the quick look of perplexity that crosses Voldemort’s face.
“Did you do something to your hair, Lucius?” Voldemort whispers. From another, the question would sound flippant, teasing perhaps. From him, it sounds terrifying, and rightfully so. Something in the universe has gone terribly wrong.
Lucius looks up haltingly. “No, my Lord.”
Voldemort stares. “You are telling me that your hair has always been brown and curly,” he says lightly.
“Yes, my Lord.” Lucius’ voice shakes.
Voldemort directs his gaze to Rogers, who has copied Lucius’ kneel. “Rogers? Is that so?”
Rogers’ gaze darts between Voldemort and Lucius, trying and failing to hide his bewilderment. “Y-yes, my Lord,” says Rogers. “As long as I have known him.”
Salazar preserve him. “Your parentage, Malfoy. Tell me.’
“…Abraxas Malfoy and Miranda Percell,” Lucius stammers.
Miranda Percell. Voldemort only vaguely recalls the name from his schoolboy days.
He turns his back on Lucius and Rogers to observe the Time Room. “Guard the room,” he tells them. “Let no one in at any cost.” He steps inside, repairs the door, and casts a variety of locking and secrecy charms on it, effectively sealing himself inside indefinitely.
He’s going to need as much time as possible if he’s to figure out how to stop this madness.
Potter’s rewriting history.

The Department of Mysteries Division of Time only sees true time travelers once every decade or so, and thank Merlin for that, because they are usually major divas who think that the world revolves around their personal (and frankly, incredibly overinflated) tragedies.
Greg had only just handled the most recent time traveler a month ago (maaaaybe unofficially, but who could blame him? The paperwork alone would have had him working overtime for years if he'd have had kept the incident entirely above board), so he’s quite looking forward to a quiet, uninterrupted decade of intellectual exploration and experimentation. At last, some damn peace around here. Now the real work can be done--and he can get home on time! His Kneazle might finally stop tearing up his furniture in retaliation for his tardiness.
So when a new time traveler arrives with a bang that sends Greg’s equipment flying mid-setup (thankfully contained within its own wards, but still entirely disrupted), Greg curses violently. And only ten minutes before the end of his shift, too! He should really assign himself some new hours.
“Merlin’s tits! Goddamnit shit balls! Circe herself better hold me back, the next time traveler who thinks their inane crisis is my problem is going to—is going to…” He stumbles on his words. His newest traveler, a handsome man with aristocratic, dark-haired features and remarkably vivid burgundy eyes, is holding a wand to Greg’s throat.
“Do you often receive time travelers in this department?” the man asks him quietly, casual as can be, as if he isn’t holding Greg at wandpoint.
“Not usually, no,” Greg answers hesitantly, internally cursing his foul luck. This one probably came from some post-apocalyptic hellscape he’s trying to prevent, given how quickly he’s turned to violence. In Greg’s experience, this type is far too mercurial to be trusted.
“Recently, then?” asks the man, arching an elegant eyebrow.
“Maybe,” answers Greg. There’s no way this man could be from the same future as last month’s traveler. That would be impossible.... Right? “Why?” Greg asks, ideas churning. What if it is possible? Why, if the two travelers are so connected as to cross time and all its variables to reach each other, figuring out the how of it could be the breakthrough of the century—nay, the millennia!
“I’m looking for a boy. About sixteen years of—”
“Goes by Harry?” Greg asks quickly, excitement making his hands twitch. “Lightning bolt scar on his forehead?”
The man smiles dazzlingly, and for a moment, Greg forgets that there’s still a wand at his throat. “That’s the one,” says the man, looking an odd mix of ecstatic and relieved.
“You must be the godfather,” says Greg, flipping open his notebook. “You must tell me everything. This is entirely unprecedented in the world of transtemporal migration. When—”
The man holds up a hand. “I’ll happily tell you everything, but first, I need to see the boy—Harry. I need to make sure he’s okay. Surely you understand?” The man says it so earnestly that Greg nearly scoffs. Time travelers and their Merlin bedamned emotions. The traveler clearly won’t tell Greg anything useful until his silly sentimentality has been satisfied.
“Fine,” Greg says with a put-upon sigh. “Let’s get your new identity sorted out first; then I’ll take you to him.” Greg summons his book of spare identities. “I’ve already set the boy up as the son of two Muggleborns, so I suppose it would be a bit much to set you up as the same.” He turns a page. “How do you feel about being a halfblood?” Greg looks up to see the time traveler watching him intently. His gaze, unblinking and still, is rather unnerving actually. “Say, aren’t you supposed to be dead?” Greg asks.
“Many would certainly hope so,” says the traveler. “You’ve provided more than enough assistance, Greg. I’ll take it from here." And before Greg can realize what's happening, the traveler murmurs, "Obliviate.”

This was born from an amazing Discord chat from months and months ago, the screenshots of which are... somewhere lost on my hard drive, hopefully (curse you, OneDrive and your stupid storage!). Idk how far I'll get on this fic because it's kinda my brain empty but I must write backburner for when I get stuck on other stuff, but I think it'll be fun. Pretty lighthearted, too. Well. I say lighthearted. Which means it will start lighthearted and then devolve into angsty angst with a heavy side of comic relief, probably.
Who knows lol. We'll see!

things lady velaryon did that may make you hate/love her: (season 1)
*MAJOR HER FIERY FATE SPOILERS* kinda living for evil/girlboss!reader!! got inspo from: @br0kenangel!
warnings: canon-divergence, daddy issues, targ!cest, suggestive scenes, innuendos of threesomes, mentions of murders, implied threats, use of liquid poisoning, mention of arranged marriages // child brides, kinda!manipulative!reader, possessive!jealousy, same-sex relationships, reader loathing any future bastard grandchildren, power play, mentions of adultery (but it’s esoteric)
co*lys, d**mon, v*serys, c**ston, o*to are warnings under itself!!
Tumblr media
TEENAGER
Lady Velaryon almost fearlessly died trying to claim a dragon, but luckily was saved by Silverwing
Lady Velaryon confessed to her father acknowledging that he has two bastard sons, promising to not tell her mother
However, she lied to her father and revealed to her mother about her husband’s infidelity (she’s a mother’s girl!)
Lady Velaryon genuinely surprisingly gets along with her half-bastard brothers and even invites them to her wedding for all to see, further embarrassing her father
Lady Velaryon is messy + bonus points if Rhaenys and Miranda get along and start a dalliance of their own, much to Corlys’ dismay
Lady Velaryon purposely planned to be rejected as King Viserys’ second wife and pursued another man of her age (and did!)
Lady Velaryon constantly mocked Lord Otto and almost had him poisoned, for Alicent’s sake after discovering he had manipulated his daughter to entertain The King
(would have gotten away with it too if Alicent’s big brown doe eyes didn’t convince her)
Lady Velaryon forged a secret plan with her future betrothed (also one of her father’s main enemy houses; my canon) to undermine her father so he’ll have no choice but to marry her and Dalton
Lady Velaryon knew her father wanted to marry her off without a second thought and gave him his karma (somehow resents his daughter even more but loves the six grandchildren she gave him?)
Lady Velaryon had caught Laenor with Joffery and actually gave them advice on secretly maintaining their relationship
Also threatened Joffery that if he ever hurt Laenor she would make Silverwing burn him alive (she meant that)
Lady Velaryon defends Laenor’s nature with Joffery after discovering her father plans to wed him to Rhaenyra (it’s the thought that counts)
Lady Velaryon constantly flirted with both her friends, knowing they’d get jealous of the other
Lady Velaryon almost kissed Rhaenyra before walking down the wedding aisle (thirsty!jealous!rhaenyra??)
Lady Velaryon had slept with Alicent as payback for Rhaenyra sleeping with Criston (petty queen)
Lady Velaryon didn’t sugarcoat anything with Rhaenyra losing her maidenhood to Ser Criston Cole
Lady Velaryon threatened Daemon if he ever attempted to upset Laena in their marriage that he’d be poisoned
ADULT
Lady Velaryon suffers from a severe miscarriage during the same night of her sister’s funeral
Lady Velaryon manipulated Alicent into kissing her, knowing Rhaenyra would witness and get jealous
Neither Rhaenyra nor Alicent knows that Lady Velaryon slept with them both and only confessed it during an intervention
Lady Velaryon offered her son Baleryn’s hand in marriage to Princess Helaena, highly aware of their compatibility, based on good intentions
Lady Velaryon teaches her children how to be cunning and make anyone fall to their whims
Also said all of her children must marry into wealth and power, and any bastard children would be of no relation to her
She initiated a proposal between her twin daughters, Lady Jaerra to Cregan Stark and Lady Jaella to Prince Aemond
She taught Helaena how to dragonride and would often bond with the young Princess, understanding her prophecies and becoming a second mother figure
Lady Velaryon almost waterboarded Daemon, forcing him awake, and laced Daemon’s drink, demanding to reconcile with his daughters about Laena’s death
(Daemon definitely had trauma from his first poisoning and knew better than to underestimate her)
Lady Velaryon rages at Rhaenyra after discovering the Princess slept with her uncle during the night of her sister’s funeral
She directly confronted Rhaenyra after finding out she secretly married Daemon and was pissed about it
She cut off any contact with Rhaenyra during those six years apart, being absolutely petty and bitter, hoping Rhaenyra would feel guilty and desperately reach out
She thrives off of desperate!Rhaenyra, returning to Dragonstone, gives the Princess the cold shoulder upon her arrival
(After Vaemond’s death; Rhaenyra and Alicent go to Lady Velaryon’s room, and see her in a state of undress
She successfully seduces both Alicent and Rhaenyra, fueling their jealousy and need to please her to her own advantage (we got too many hoes y’all 😛)
Lady Velaryon claims that Corlys is a horrible father and wishes he’d died during his war at the stepstones
Lady Velaryon also hid his medication for a while and debated whether disposing of it

Heey! I hope you're doing well! I would like to request a story about gp Donna having a daughter with a maid who abandoned her when the child was born. Donna raises her daughter alone and homeschool her for most of the part until her daughter tells her that she wants music lessons so Donna asks the duke a piano. The duke being all noisy gets the tea about Donna's daughter wanting music lessons and suggests Donna to hire reader as her teacher, an excellent pianist with good reputation. Both Donna and her daughter (like mother, like daughter) fall in love with reader with Donna's daughter wanting reader to become her other mom (and unlike Donna, her daughter is not that shy and is always complementing reader and dropping hints to her that Donna is very much single).
One afternoon after a lesson Donna listens to reader sing while she plays the piano and is mesmerized by her beautiful voice. Perhaps reader is singing a classical piece like Ave Maria by Schubert and that sort of reminds her of her family before the black gods faith and all that (I suppose it would make sense not to sing about other gods except for the black ones? So that's why gets more enamored with reader, for bringing her back those memories). Anywaysss, Donna with a little help from her daughter confesses to reader, who of course has fallen in love with Donna and her offspring.
welll, I hope that wasn't too much of a request 😅
Have a good day!
Yesss!!! I have to say I loved that request, thank you :D! I hope you like it and sorry about the language mistakes!!!! :)))))

Sometimes I try to live in the past, to remember what those times were like, when life was much easier. I would have given anything to go back to that moment, to reject Mother Miranda's offer to make me her daughter, a Lord.
But being named Lord, obtaining the divine grace of the Black Gods didn’t illuminate my path, rather, it darkened it. I always lived isolated. I was never interested in people. They were evil, they laughed at me, at my appearance, at my scar. I could consider my transition from villager to Lord a success, since those mocking laughs turned into cries and screams of terror, but, apart from that, nothing else changed.
At least nothing that had to do with my condition as a lonely and isolated woman. The reason for the mockery and for my behavior mutated in an unpleasant way; turning me into something like a deformed monster, as much as Miranda denied it.
The Gods' whim was just a moment of fun, and with me... they went too far. Not only did my eye disappear, not only did they turn me into an unpleasant being. They also played with my body.
I didn't care too much, I got used to it soon, but I didn't know how to get used to loneliness. My solitary life only ended partially. Angie, my doll since I was a child, came to life thanks to my efforts, to my desperation to hear another voice other than those in my head.
It might seem like a positive change, in part it was, but it wasn't what I was looking for by giving myself over to the black claws of the village. Getting out of that spiral of madness and loneliness was my true goal, but things never turn out the way you expect. Neither the new parts of my body, nor my powers, nor my appearance made it change. Madness continued to eat away my brain, the madness that came from an illness that had stalked my family for years.
If you put it all together, a deformed face, a different body, terrifying powers, madness and absolute loneliness, you get a legend, a character from a scary story, you get me: the last Lord, the doll maker, Donna Beneviento.
I stopped aging. I stopped being a baseless legend to become a woman to be feared, respected or even revered. My new siblings seemed to enjoy that change, to exercise power over the rest of the villagers, to inflict terror on them.
I was never interested in that kind of power, the power to get what I wanted when I wanted and the power to never be questioned. I had become so accustomed to my solitude that it became my refuge, a refuge for all eternity.
One day, after my sister Alcina convinced me, I decided to try out what it would be like to live with someone, to hear other different voices in the mansion, and I accepted one of her maids. She was a beautiful girl. Her name was Helga.
It could have been because of the lack of habit, because of my heart's longing to not feel alone, the reasons really didn't matter. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with her. I had never believed in love, I never had the chance to experience what my books talked about. I was eager to do it, to love, to be loved.
Looking back on the past, I now think that maybe I should have thought things better, understand that love is something that happens between two people, and not just for one of them.
Helga accepted my feelings and let herself be loved by a monster like me. In her eyes I could see the lie, the deception. I could see a false smile when she heard me say: I love you. I didn't give it any importance, she had to love me.
Of course I let myself be carried away by my clumsy feelings, by my erratic heart. I took that girl. I made her mine when I wanted, when I needed. I thought everything would change from that moment on, and I was right.
I wasn’t careful when I claimed her body as mine, and there were consequences. After a few months with the illusion of living a romance, it happened, I got her pregnant. I never thought about having a family, about starting one.
I had to get used to the idea of having a baby with someone who, deep down, I knew didn’t love me, but seeing my child grow in her womb mesmerized me too much. After a few months, that child came into the world, a beautiful girl, Maria Beneviento.
I came to think that I couldn’t be happier. I had a beautiful girl, a young maid at my side, everything was perfect, but, again, it was just an illusion. I remember the blizzard of that night, that terrible night.
“Shh, ti prego non piangere, tesoro…” I whispered while cradling the newborn, who wouldn't stop crying. “Oh, hai fame, vero?” I said, getting up to look for Helga, who, she told me, needed to rest.
I couldn't blame her. It had only been a week since the girl was born and she was exhausted.
I walked through the house with the girl in my arms. Poor thing, she was crying inconsolably. I looked for Helga in her room, the one she never wanted to leave. I will never be able to get over what I found.
The room was empty, there was no one there. I looked for her, but she was gone. In the baby's crib there was a note, a damn note that I burned in the fire, and whose words still burn in my heart.
I can't stand it anymore.
Everything I did, I did because I was afraid, because you scared me.
I can't stand having given my life to a monster like you, having a baby who will soon become a monster too.
I can't stay with you. I can't look my daughter in the face, a daughter I never wanted.
I never loved you, and I never will.
I'm leaving, Donna, I'm leaving forever. I wish I could have taken that innocent baby with me, but you terrify me, I know what you'll do to me.
I screamed, I cried, I hit everything within my reach. I couldn't believe those words and at the same time it seemed like I had read them somewhere else, perhaps in her sad and complacent gaze.
Without thinking twice, furious, with my daughter in my arms, I went out to look for her. It was a dark night and the snow didn't stop falling. I called out to her, I threatened her, but it was too late.
On the snowy ground there were footprints, her footprints. Desperate, I followed them, followed them until... they disappeared, they disappeared at the edge of a cliff.
Surely that stupid girl didn't know how dangerous my land was, how dangerous it was to go out at night in the middle of a blizzard.
She would never come back, she abandoned me forever, she abandoned us.
I might have thought that I had the consolation of still having my daughter, that my baby hadn't fallen into the void with her mother, but I didn't see it that way. My soul was broken in two, my heart was crushed mercilessly. That girl left me alone with my daughter, that girl never loved me.
I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have my daughter in my arms, I don't know what the consequences would have been. I spent days complaining, even though I barely had time. I was left alone, my daughter too. Helga abandoned me, but Maria was still with me. She was a newborn baby, she needed me.
Pain, suffering... at first that was what I felt when I had to take care of my daughter alone. I never knew how to do it well. I was overwhelmed several times, desperate. Then I realized what I had to do, my responsibility. I had to take care of my little girl; it didn't matter if I had to do it by myself. I had no other option.
Luckily, I managed to get used to the situation, and move on.
The years went by and my little Maria grew up, perhaps faster than I would have liked. She was a girl... well, a bit strange girl. Physically she was exactly like me, but... her personality was not similar at all.
Maria was intelligent, extremely intelligent. She was a happy, funny, outgoing and obedient child. I like to think that I was a good mother to her, although that wasn't the case.
From a very young age she had to put up with my madness. Dealing with a sick mother like me, without having anyone else (apart from Angie, of course), must have been hard for her, but she never showed it.
Eight years after that fateful night, my daughter and I lived peacefully. She knew me and understood me, and I loved her madly.
I knocked on the girl's bedroom door slowly, as it was a reasonable hour to sleep.
“Come in,” my daughter said, in a sweet voice, as always.
“Maria, it's time to sleep,” I said softly.
The girl, lying in bed, looked at me over the book she was reading with Angie, and made a gesture of silence. I couldn't help but smile and obeyed her request, slowly approaching and sitting on the mattress.
“Cinque minuti,” she whispered in an intriguing voice, turning a page. “Mamma, they've killed Dumbledore…”
“Oh,” I sighed with a tender smile, watching Maria devour the book.
“I told you Snape was a traitor from the start! I told you!” Angie shrieked, pointing at the book with her wooden hand.
“Angie, don't shout,” I told the doll, who relaxed her attitude.
“It's true, you were right, Angie,” Maria said, nodding to the doll, who laughed in satisfaction.
The little girl closed the book with a sigh of suspense and left it on the table, passing a hand over her forehead.
“Wow... it was interesting,” she said, letting me get a little closer and cover her with the sheets. “I can't wait to see what happens,” she said rubbing her hands.
“Mm,” I murmured with my eyebrow raised, arranging my daughter's hair, a gesture she liked less and less.
“Mamma…” she protested amused. “I'm not a child anymore.”
“Aren’t you? So, what are you?” I asked with the same mocking tone.
“Mm…” she murmured thoughtfully, looking at the ceiling. “An impending pre-teenager.”
I laughed, shaking my head at my daughter's bold responses. I definitely don't know where she got that audacity from. It couldn't be from me… maybe from Angie?
“Excuse me, my impending teenager,” I joked, making sure the girl was well protected from the cold.
“Um, mamma…” Maria murmured nervously, attracting my attention, when I was about to leave. “Can I talk to you?”
“Va bene,” I answered frowning and sitting back down. “What's wrong, tesoro?”
“I was just wondering…” she said, without looking at me directly, thoughtful. “Mamma… Who was my mother?”
The smile immediately faded from my face and memories appeared to haunt my wounded mind. I had to make a great effort to control my nerves. I didn't want to lose my mind in front of my daughter, not again.
“Maria, what's that question about?” I said nervously, with a cold tone.
“Well…” Maria said, sitting on the bed while scratching the back of her neck. “I have a good memory. I remember I asked you when I was… I think I was 4 years old. You told me I was too young to know.”
“Mm, certo,” I said blinking erratically.
“But I'm not so young anymore,” my daughter said, with an expectant look. “Per favore, mamma, tell me what she was like,”
I sighed, undecided, but motivated by her bright eyes, identical to mine.
“W-Well… y-you…” I stammered, trying hard not to let my voice get stuck, something complicated. “Your mother was… her name was Helga and… she was my maid.”
The girl nodded curiously, barely blinking.
“She was very beautiful,” I whispered, remembering that treacherous look.
“What happened to her?” she asked impatiently.
“Um… she left, she abandoned us shortly after you were born,” I said, knowing there was no point in lying to her. That girl was devilishly smart, she would find out sooner or later.
“She left you alone with a baby? Wow, she wasn't a good person then,” the girl whispered. “Do you think I'll ever get to meet her?”
“No, I'm afraid… she's gone,” I murmured, shaking my head and holding back a tear.
“Oh, well… thanks for telling me,” Maria said with an indifferent voice, opening the drawer of her nightstand and taking out a paper and a pen. “Yes, it’s progressing…”
“Mm?” I murmured curiously, trying to see what was on that sheet of paper, on which Maria seemed to cross something out. “Cos’è questo, Maria?” I asked, tilting my head to try to make out something.
“Questo?” she said, showing me the paper. I nodded slowly, studying those phrases that were written on it. “Oh, it’s nothing… just a wish list.”
“A wish list?” I asked curious and amused, trying to bury the memory of her mother, so her words wouldn’t penetrate my mind, and destroy it again.
“Well, I'm already 8,” she explained with that knowing tone I adored. “Soon I'll reach adolescence and lose my mind, you know, hormones…” she said with a passive voice and an amused gesture. “Before that happens and my head starts to think about stupid boys, I would like to do some things.”
“Mm, you're cautious,” I commented, surprised, as always, by her intelligence. “Can I take a look?” I asked, extending a hand towards the paper, paper that Maria handed me, nodding and shrugging.
Yes, it was a list, the wish list of an eight-year-old girl. Some things were crossed out, the most recent was:
Meet my mother
I sighed somewhat sadly knowing that she would never do it, but I continued reading, hoping to distract myself enough with the girl thoughts and ambitions.
“Maria…” I whispered, looking at the girl with a frown and pointing at one of the phrases. “To have a sibling?” I asked with a trembling voice.
“Yes,” my girl nodded, with an innocent smile. “I think it would be really cool to have one,” she said without caring about the impossibility that it entailed. “Don't be offended, Angie.”
“More minions? I like how it sounds,” the doll said, with an amused gesture.
“I'm afraid that wish is impossible, tesoro,” I said with a low voice, with a sad look.
I could never, ever fall in love again, not after what happened the first time I did.
“No, it's not impossible,” Maria protested, leaning towards me and reading her phrases. “Look, mamma, if this one here comes true, it would be possible.”
I looked at where her finger was pointing, and I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry in despair.
Mamma stops being alone
I read it several times, glancing at the girl and hiding the trembling in my hands.
“Maria…”  I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Y-You should think of another wish.”
“No, they are my wishes, you can't influence them,” the girl said, crossing her arms. “You just have to read them, not judge them.”
“Va bene, you're right,” I said, briefly pinching her cheek, something that made her laugh embarrassedly. “Mm, learn to play the piano?” I asked, reading more of her wishes. “Do you want to learn to play the piano?”
“Oh, yes, do you remember the day we went to see Aunt Alcina at the castle?” she asked, coming closer, she seemed excited.
“Yes, of course I remember,” I answered, looking at my daughter curiously. “You mean the maid who played you a birthday song, right?”
“Well…” the girl sighed, rolling her eyes. “The song was childish and squeaky, but the sound of that piano… it was beautiful, so I decided to learn… but… we don't have a piano,” she said in a much lower voice, looking away, as she always did when she wanted to ask me for something.
“Actually we have one in the basement,” I said. “You could learn on it.”
“Mamma, that's not exactly a piano,” my daughter said in an innocent tone, biting her lip. “I want a real one, a piano as cool as the one in the castle.”
“You want a piano,” I murmured, arching my eyebrow. “Do you want me to buy a piano, Maria? Is that what you're trying to ask me?”
“Well… I wouldn't say no if you do,” she said amused, with her eyes wide open. “I know my birthday has passed and…”
“Cut the crap,” I said amused, shaking my head. “Well… I guess it’s something much more feasible than some of your wishes.”
“Does that mean you’ll do it? Will you buy me a piano?” the girl asked, standing up on the bed, excited again.
I looked at her tenderly and thought for a moment. I could never deny my little girl anything, I never would.
“If you behave,” I said amused, pointing at her with my finger before she jumped into my arms.
“Great! Grazie di cuore, mamma, you’re the best, the best!” Maria yelled enthusiastically, wrapping her arms around me and giving me a tender hug that I always appreciated, that told me I would never be alone, I would always have my daughter.
“Okay, okay, tesoro,” I said, overwhelmed by her affectionate kisses, gently patting her back. “But you’ll have to be consistent and learn to play wonderfully, mm?”
“Certo, I have to read more books,” my daughter said, moving away and letting herself fall on the bed, with a hand on her chin, thoughtful. “Now go, I have to think,” she said with a concentrated expression. “Where could we put it, Angie?”
“Well, you better go to sleep,” I said, laughing tenderly, giving her a kiss on the forehead and looking at the doll coldly, telling Angie with my eyes not to bother Maria and let her rest, something almost impossible.
“Mamma,” Maria called me, before I went out the door. “Ti voglio bene”
“Anch’io, tesoro… Anch’io…” I whispered, closing the door slowly.
Maria was not a capricious child, even though I always did whatever she wants to see her happy. I will always be surprised by her ability to educate practically by herself, taking advantage of my absences, my crises, to fill her mind with knowledge.
Sometimes I regretted having had a maid, but I changed my mind when I saw my little girl. She was the most important thing to me, and that would always be the case.
If Maria wanted a piano, she would have a piano, without a doubt.
The next day I took advantage of the Duke's weekly visit to make the request. I still find it hard to believe how different Maria is, how little she resembles my withdrawn and shy personality…
“Hello, Duke,” Maria said, waving her hand politely with a mocking smile.
I was standing next to her, with my face covered with the veil and the Angie doll in my arms. No matter how well that horrible man treated my little girl, I never trusted him.
“Miss Beneviento, you look well,” the merchant murmured, handing me the things I needed for the week. “Lady Beneviento…”
“Hi, fatty,” Angie said, moving in my arms. “How are you?”
“Great,” he replied, counting the coins I threw at him in an unpleasant manner. “What do you say, Miss? Did you manage to solve last week's riddle?” he asked, looking at my daughter with a sinister smile.
“Of course,” the girl answered, with a smug smile. “The answer is the Sun,” she said, lifting her chin. “Although… there was something wrong with the riddle. Yes, normally the sun rises and sets, but… did you know that there are certain areas of the world where it doesn't rise or set for several months?”
“Oh, I guess I forgot that detail,” the man said, laughing amused at the girl's words. “You got it right again…”
“As always,” Maria said, making a gesture to play it down.
“Come on, we want to see that chocolate bar,” Angie demanded, climbing into Maria's arms while I watched in silence.
“Here you go, Miss…” the Duke sighed amusedly tossing a sweet to the girl, one that she caught gracefully. “I hope I don't make it so easy for you next time.”
“Grazie,” the kid said, kindly. “Mamma, tell him, tell him,” she said, tugging at my dress, somewhat impatiently.
I looked at her and gestured for Angie to come closer.
“That's it, Duke, we want a piano,” I said, speaking through the doll.
“A piano?” the man asked, taking out a small notebook.
“Yes, yes, a piano,” Maria said, jumping on the ground. “I'm going to learn to play it.”
“Oh, that's wonderful, Miss, music is the voice of the soul,” the Duke said, writing something down. “Is an upright piano okay?”
I looked at my daughter, who did the same, nodding.
“Yes, okay,” she said, smiling with satisfaction.
“For your sake, fatso, fatso, I hope you don't fool us,” Angie said, climbing up the carriage and looking at the merchant in a menacing manner. “A nice piano for Maria, is that clear?”
“Like water, Miss Angie,” he said, amused, gesturing for the doll to move away. “Tell me, how do you plan to learn?”
“Well... By myself, I guess, Donna doesn’t know to play it,” my daughter said, making me look at her embarrassed. “Don't be offended, mamma.”
“I see,” the Duke said, looking at me with a mocking smile. “It turns out that I know someone. There is a girl in the village who is an excellent pianist, perhaps, Lady Beneviento, it would be good for your daughter if she gave the little Miss some lessons.”
“A piano teacher?” Maria asked, while I pondered the offer. “That would be great, mamma, say yes, say yes…”
“I don't know, tesoro… I don't like people coming to the house,” I murmured, putting myself at the height of the girl, who made a sad gesture.
“Please…” my daughter begged, putting her hands together.
“Please, please…” Angie said, imitating her gesture.
“Ugh,” I sighed, looking at the Duke, who was impatiently waiting for my answer.
“Well? I promise you won't regret it, my lady,” the merchant said, studying my movements. “I'm convinced that she will get along very well with your offspring.”
“Oh, I…” I muttered, gesturing to Angie, giving up. “Okay,” the doll said, speaking in my voice.
After a few days, the piano arrived at the mansion and, with the unpleasant help of some lycans, I managed to find a suitable place for it. Maria was very excited, but I, not so much. The idea of a gossipy villager entering my house… talking to my little girl… I didn't like it, but just seeing Maria's shining eyes, I got used to it.
“Here she is!” the girl shrieked, running towards the door, which someone had knocked on. It was that disgusting teacher, no doubt. “Vai, mamma!”
“I'm coming,” I said in a whisper, putting on my veil and approaching the door, opening it slowly.
I was expecting to find an old woman, a petulant old woman who was no longer in her prime, but I was petrified. Behind the door, there was a rather young woman, smiling and… beautiful, terribly beautiful.
“H-Hello,” the young woman said, waking me from a reverie. I wasn’t expecting someone like that. “It’s an honor to meet you, Lady Beneviento.”
“Are you the teacher?” Angie asked, speaking for me, uncomfortably studying the girl, who seemed scared by her presence. I don’t blame her.
“Yes, my name is (Y/N),” she said, extending her hand towards me, a hand that I briefly looked at, but didn’t shake, making her withdraw it awkwardly. “Um… well… so you want to learn to play the piano, right?”
“No,” I said with my hoarse voice, while my daughter came out from behind me, looking with the same surprise as me at that girl. “Not me.”
“Hello,” Maria said, with an elegant gesture. “I'm Maria Beneviento, and I'm your new student,” she said with an amused smile, shaking her hand, something I couldn't do.
“Oh, wow, I didn't know that... that it was you,” the young woman said, looking at me and then at the girl, making a small, friendly bow “I thought I was going to teach you, Lady Beneviento.”
“No, my mother doesn't have a clue about music, she only knows how to make dolls,” the girl said, amused, causing me to give her a gentle slap on the shoulder as a reprimand. “Oh, but she makes them very well, I promise.”
“Your mother? You mean...? Are you her daughter?” the pianist asked, looking at me with a frown and a bewildered expression.
“Yes, of course,” the little girl said, guiding the visitor through the house. “Don't you see how much we look alike?” she asked, pointing to the portrait on the stairs.
“Oh, um… is that you?” (Y/N) asked, looking at me and pointing at the portrait. I didn't move, nor did I say a single word, obviously. “W-Wow, your really look alike, you're like two peas in a pod.”
“Isn't that right?” Maria laughed, taking the stranger's hand and leading her into the living room. “This way, (Y/N)”
“I-It's funny. I didn’t know you had a daughter, my lady,” the young woman said, walking towards the piano next to my little girl, looking at me out of the corner of her eye, distrustful.
“Mm,” I murmured, not giving importance to her comment, approaching Maria. “Tesoro, I'm going to the workshop, Angie will stay with you, if something happens…”
“Mamma… non preocuparti,” Maria said, sitting on the stool in front of the piano, next to that unknown girl.
“Va bene,” I whispered, giving one last look to the young woman, who did the same quickly. I could see the fear in her eyes.
Reluctant, but with no other choice, I left them alone.
It must have been an entertaining afternoon, since Angie didn't warn me of any danger, but she did when that girl was about to leave.
“Grazie, (Y/N), see you tomorrow,” Maria said, waving her hand goodbye, while I, suspicious, walked with the young woman to the door.
“Your daughter is very talented, my lady,” (Y/N) commented, before leaving through the door.
“Mm,” I murmured in an impatient tone, wishing she would leave at once.
“Well, she has to practice, but I think she can be a great pianist if she puts her mind to it,” the young woman said, with no intention of leaving. “It's unbelievable that she's just eight years old, she's very intelligent.”
“I know that already,” I whispered impatiently, handing her a bag of coins.
“Oh, um, thanks,” she said, putting them in her purse. “I was surprised that you had a daughter… well, in the village we never…”
“I know,” I cut her words off abruptly, with a tired sigh. “No one has to know about my life.”
“Yes, well, I understand,” she said, scratching the back of her neck. “Forgive my indiscretion, I know it's none of my business but… What about her father?”
The Angie doll, who was listening next to me, began to laugh outrageously, drawing our attention.
“Stupid,” Angie said, pointing at the girl with her finger and pretending to laugh loudly. “You're so stupid… Donna is Maria's mother, get it? She's her mother, she impregnated a maid and…”
“Angie…” I hissed nervously.
“What?” the pianist asked, looking at me and speaking in a small voice when she realized her mistake.
I, nervous and embarrassed, clenched my fists tightly on both sides of my hips.
“Oh, shit, I mean… I understand, oh, I… w-well, I had heard rumors but they seemed… I mean, it's okay, well, there's a huge woman, a fish man… it's not that I find it strange or anything like that, I mean…” she said nervously, not knowing where to run.
I crossed my arms furiously, wanting to make her live the worst of her nightmares, but then I thought of Maria and I restrained myself.
“Shut up,” I demanded with a firm tone. “I advise you to stop sticking your nose where it doesn't belong,” I threatened walking a step towards her, making the girl back off.
“I'm sorry. It's just that…” she said, visibly nervous, refusing to look at my face.
“Does my Donna's penis disgust you, silly?” Angie said, making me burn with rage.
“Angie! Taci, taci, taci!” I screamed furiously, kicking the floor. The piano played in the background, Maria was oblivious to the conversation, fortunately.
“What? Oh, no, no, not at all… I have no problem with that,” the pianist said, putting her hands in a position of surrender. “B-besides, I'm just your daughter's piano teacher, I have no intention of snooping in your… business. I was just… I was just curious.”
“Curiosity…” I began in a dark tone, making it clear to that stupid village girl what her place was.
“Killed the cat, I know,” she finished, with a nervous smile. “I just want to say that, well, that… your daughter is great.”
“Mm,” I growled, looking away and closing the door in her face. “Cazzo, Angie…”
The doll, realizing that she had given too much information, ran off towards Maria, who was playing the keys, surely putting into practice what she had learned.
“Look, mamma, I know the scale,” the girl said, gesturing for me to come closer as she softly played the piano.
“Meraviglioso, Maria,” I sighed, relaxing with the soft sound of the instrument.
“So… what do you think?” my daughter murmured, looking at the floor. “About (Y/N).”
“(Y/N)?” I asked annoyed, sighing as I took off my veil. “She's just some ordinary village girl.”
“No, not at all. She's great, she's super smart, and she plays really well, and she's also really beautiful, don't you think, mamma?” Maria said, following me through the mansion.
“Mm, maybe she is,” I commented distractedly. She was right, that girl was very beautiful… but a nuisance too. “Your lessons, Maria, don't forget them,” I said in a motherly tone, pointing to her study books.
The visits from that unpleasant girl continued. Maria learned a lot from (Y/N), although I didn't like to admit it. Little by little I got used to the presence of that nosy villager, maybe too much, since, from time to time, I came up from the workshop to see how she taught my daughter.
They seemed to get along really well, and every day her beauty was much more evident to me, but I didn't give it any importance, she was still an idiot.
“That's it, you learn very quickly Maria,” (Y/N) said as I approached slowly. “It's noticeable that you practice a lot.”
“Of course I do, so I don't forget,” the little girl said, swinging her legs on the stool.
“Um, Maria… I'd like to ask you something,” the teacher whispered, looking around, probably afraid that I would appear.
That made me back off and hide in the shadows. I wanted to hear what that stupid girl was saying about me, I was sure she would say something about me.
“Va bene,” my daughter said, distracted, touching the keys.
“Hey, your mother…” the young woman murmured, attracting my attention even more. “Your mother is a bit scary, isn't she?”
“Mamma Donna?” Maria asked and shook her head. “Not at all, are you scared of my mamma?”
“Um, well,” the girl said, with a nervous smile. “She's a Lord and… well, in the village everyone fears her.”
“Bah, nonsense,” my daughter said, gesturing with her hand. “That's because they don't know her. Donna is nice.”
“Really? Does she take good care of you?” she asked in a more confident tone, something that made me burn with rage.
How could that stupid woman question my way of taking care of my daughter?
“Oh, yes, she is very intelligent, she teaches me many things,” Maria said, making me sigh with relief.
“Um… what about your other mother? Don't you miss her?” (Y/N) asked, making me want to end her existence.
“Not really,” the girl said, lowering her head. “I never got to know her. Mamma Donna told me that she was her maid and that she… abandoned us.”
“Chiudi il becco…” I muttered in a whisper. “Maledizione…”
“Gods, that’s… horrible,” the young woman said, changing her expression.
“Well, it's the past. Donna took care of me and raised me by herself, and I assure you that it must not be easy to do that, and even more so with a daughter like me,” Maria said amused. “I don't usually give her any trouble, but… she has to put up with me.”
“Mm, I see,” (Y/N) said, tenderly stroking Maria's hair. “I see that I was wrong about her, I'm sorry for doubting your mother.”
“It doesn't matter,” Maria said, putting on a strange expression. “People say horrible things about her, but I know they're lies. My mamma is mentally ill, but that doesn't mean she's not a good person, she really is.”
“Yes, I see,” the pianist said, looking back, without seeing me. “If you say so, I believe you…”
“Forgive her if she was abrupt with you,” my daughter said, apologizing for my aggressive attitude. “She's just very lonely. I'm convinced that her character will improve when she meets someone.”
“Mm, maybe, but being alone isn't that bad, you know? I am too,” the young woman said.
“Oh, really?” the little girl asked. “That's interesting…” she murmured, with a tone that forced me to intervene. “Wouldn't you like to meet someone?”
“Well, I…”
“Ahem,” I cleared my throat, walking nervously towards them. (Y/N) looked at me briefly, immediately lowering her head. “It's time, isn't it?”
“Mm, sì, mamma,” Maria said, getting off the stool.
The young pianist stood up with a friendly gesture.
“Your daughter has been great, as always, my lady,” the young woman said, not daring to look at me. “It's a pleasure to teach her.”
“You don't have to be that formal. You can call her Donna, vero, mamma? Maria said, with a slightly strange voice.
“I guess,” I said reluctantly, making the girl laugh nervously.
“W-Well, Donna then,” (Y/N) whispered, with a shy laugh.
“Mamma, do you know that (Y/N) is also alone? What a coincidence, huh?” the girl asked, comically tugging at my dress, putting the stupid villager in a tight spot.
“Maria,” I said in a dark voice. I didn't know why, but that comment made me blush.
“Don't worry, Donna, your daughter is adorable, she just says what she thinks,” the young woman said, picking up the scores.
“Ma, mamma, are you going to let her go?” Maria insisted, making me very nervous. “You should be nice and invite her to tea. She’s been coming here for almost a month.”
“Maria…” I hissed nervously, while (Y/N) laughed again, shaking her head. “Stop annoying her, I’m sure she’ll have better things to do.”
“T-Truth be told,” the pianist said, arching her eyebrows. “I could use some tea, if it’s not too much trouble.”
“Ugh, okay,” I muttered, threatening with my daughter my gaze making her fled with Angie.
That was the beginning of a strange routine. After piano lessons, (Y/N) started to stay with us for a while, having tea, helping Maria with her homework…
Over time, I couldn't say that that stupid girl started to catch my attention, but I did stop thinking that she was... well, stupid. She was a kind, funny girl, who made Maria and Angie laugh, and she was kind to me, kinder than anyone ever was, no one, not even Helga.
I couldn't help but notice a certain conspiracy in my little girl's words and actions, hinting several times at how lonely her poor mother was when I wasn't around, or telling me directly that (Y/N) was single too.
I couldn't blame her for wanting to have what she never had, for wanting another mother, but... it was simply impossible, it would never be possible, although deep down, that pianist girl caught my attention more than I would like to admit.
“Well, I better go, thank you very much for the tea, Donna,” (Y/N) said, after an afternoon of games with Angie and the girl, something of which I was only a spectator. “See you tomorrow, huh, girls?” she said amused, high-fiving Maria and Angie.
“Hey, but it's really late,” my daughter commented, looking out the window. “Hey, (Y/N), why don't you stay for dinner?”
“Oh, for dinner?” the young woman asked blinking and looking for an answer in me. “W-well, I…”
“Don't listen to her,” I said quickly, putting a warning hand on Maria's shoulder.
“Mamma,” the little girl protested, breaking away from my grip while (Y/N) smiled, picking up her coat. “I'm trying to help you.”
“Who asked you for help, brat? Basta,” I hissed sternly but nervously.
“Well… it's true that it's late,” (Y/N) said, oblivious to my reprimands, looking at me shyly. “Maybe it's not a bad idea.”
“Of course it’s not,” Maria said, freeing from my reprimand and taking the young pianist by the hand. “Come, sit down, did you know that la mia mamma cooks like an angel? You'll see.”
“Maria!” I growled, clenching my fists. “What are you...?”
“Show her that what I say is true, vai, Donna,” my daughter said, pushing me by the legs.
I had no choice but to obey, going down to the kitchen to prepare that improvised dinner.
“Mm, where's Maria?” I asked dryly, leaving the food on the table, a table that was only occupied by (Y/N), who looked at me amused, shrugging.
“She told me that she wasn’t hungry and she wanted to leave us alone, you know, so that we could talk about adult stuff.”
“Oh, questa bambina…” I lamented, understanding her intentions.
“I think she's set us up, hasn't she?” the young woman joked, while I, exhausted, served her some wine.
“I'm sorry, I don't know what she was thinking,” I said, apologizing for Maria's behavior. Oh, yes, that girl would get a deserved scolding.
“It doesn't matter, it might be good to get to know each other a bit better,” (Y/N) commented. “Um…” she said, frowning as she saw how, clumsily, I handled my black veil to eat. “Um… Donna, that's not necessary. You don't need it, you can trust me.”
“You'll get scared,” I said nervously, paralyzed.
“No, I won't,” she said, with a lower voice, somewhat trembling.
It was absurd to continue with that nonsense, the best thing would be to scare that stupid girl away so she never came back and stopped… constantly sneaking into my thoughts. With a slow gesture I took off my veil, refusing to see her expression.
“Mm, wow…” the young woman sighed, with a smile that I couldn't interpret. “It's true, you two are exactly the same.”
“Don't pretend. You know I'm horrible,” I said, gripping the fork tightly.
“No, you're not… Let's see… what have you prepared for me?” the girl said, ignoring my hisses and taking a look at the dinner. “Everything looks great.”
“Pici all'amatriciana,” I murmured distrustfully.
“Oh, well, let's check if it's as good as it looks,” she said, rubbing her hands and starting to eat, without erasing that smile from her face.
At first it was a tense, silent dinner, only interrupted by (Y/N)'s praises. Everything seemed wonderful and perfect to her, even… even my face. Little by little, I suppose thanks to the wine, the conversation began to flow naturally. It seemed unlikely, but that girl and I had a lot in common and we even… we even laughed, laughed a lot.
I realized why Maria was so obsessed with her. She was a wonderful girl, kind, funny… and terribly beautiful too.
“I had a great time,” the young woman said with a tender smile as I walked with her to the door. “Really.”
“Yes, um… me too, (Y/N),” I said in a low voice, with a strange blush on my cheeks.
“You know what? I think I now understand your daughter’s insistence on me getting to know you,” she commented distractedly, looking at the floor, turning her ankle on it. “You are a very special woman, Donna.”
“Yes, special is the word,” I said suspiciously, crossing my arms.
The girl laughed, shaking her head and putting a hand on my arm.
“No, what I mean is that… well, I don't regret having gotten to know you,” she whispered in a low voice, leaving behind her words, an awkward moment of silence.
“M-Me neither,” I stammered unintentionally, smiling genuinely.
“See you,” the girl said, removing her hand from my arm with a tender smile, suddenly stepping back. “Oh, bye girls,” she said, waving her hand and looking upstairs, where Angie and Maria were discreetly spying.
“Ciao!” they said in unison when I closed the door, sighing and glancing sideways at my daughter and the doll.
“Cazzo…” I hissed, quickly climbing the stairs while those two mischievous girls fled to their room. “Hey, you two!”
“Oh, mamma, I was going to sleep,” Maria said, putting on her pajamas in a hurry.
“No, young lady, what were you thinking?” I asked, annoyed by the trick, with my hands on my hips. “Who taught you to conspire like that?”
“Um…” the girl murmured, looking unintentionally at Angie, who hid under the sheets. “I only did it for you, mamma, so that you are not alone anymore.”
“Oh, cavolo…” I lamented, with a hand on my forehead. “Maria, tesoro, you don't have to decide those things for me, do you hear me? They are adults’ matters.”
“I know but… I think you two get along wonderfully,” the girl said with an almost pleading voice. “And you two are alone…”
“Maria…”
“Besides, dinner was a complete success, you even took off your veil,” she said with an amused smile, climbing into bed while I reluctantly tucked her in. “Although you have to improve your conversation, you're very clumsy, mamma.”
“That I’m…?” I asked, feigning offense. “Well, it doesn't matter.”
“Don't you like (Y/N)? Not even a little?” Maria asked in a sleepy voice, rubbing her eyes.
“Um, I… W-Well I… yes, I like her,” I admitted embarrassed, with a sob. “But tesoro, that's not…”
“She likes you, she speaks very well of you,” she sighed, exhausted, closing her eyes. “Mamma.”
“Mm?”
“If I could go back in time and choose… I would like (Y/N) to be my other mother…” she said in a sleepy whisper, without really being aware she had said it.
I sighed, moved by her words and approached to kiss her on the forehead, thoughtful.
“Mm, I'm not surprised that you want it, tesoro... (Y/N) is... wonderful.”
Admitting that I had feelings for (Y/N) took me longer than I thought, but I couldn't help it. Without wanting to, knowing that there would never be another chance to feel love, to believe in it, I did it, I fell in love with her, madly.
Dinners were common, laughter, too. Sometimes we were alone and sometimes Angie and Maria accompanied us, making the laughter increase more and more. I began to wish for those visits, to get sad when that girl left. There was tension between us, I could notice it, I could notice her bright gaze in mine, silent pauses in which neither of us knew what to say.
Too much pressure and I was too much of a coward.
“You have to do it, mamma,” my little girl told me, while I waited for (Y/N) to arrive, walking around the living room and shaking my head.
“I can't do it…” I sighed, rejecting her proposition again.
“If you don't tell (Y/N) how you feel about her, she'll never know, imagine if she meets someone,” the girl said walking exactly like me.
“It's not that easy, Maria, you'll realize when you're older,” I said in a dark, nervous voice.
“I don't want to lose the opportunity to have another mom just because you're a coward!” the girl protested, nervous, impatient.
I turned around abruptly, gritting my teeth and crouching down next to my daughter, grabbing her by the collar of her dress.
“You think I don't know!? Huh?” I screamed furiously while my daughter, scared, covered herself with her hands.
“Mamma,” she said trembling, making me react.
“Gods… tesoro, I'm sorry,” I said, placing her dress and caressing her cheek.
Maria nodded slowly, comforting my nerves with a tender hug.
“I don't know how to do it, I don't know how to tell her that… that I love her,” I murmured, with the girl's warm hands in mine, controlling my madness.
“Calm down, mamma, I'll think of something,” she said, giving me a kiss on the cheek and going to the door, since (Y/N) had already arrived.
The smiles danced between us again. I had long since gotten used to staying in the living room while (Y/N) taught Maria, to watch her fingers caress the keys, to see her beautiful and tender face, the incredibly sweet way she treated my baby…
“Well, very well, mate,” (Y/N )said when Maria showed her what she had learned. “I think we can move on to something more complicated.”
“Yeah, hey, (Y/N),” Maria said, glancing at me out of the corner of her eye. “I thought… I've never heard you play… you know, a whole song. I'm sure my mamma would really like to hear you.”
“Would her?” the young woman asked, looking at me with blushing cheeks.
I looked at her and nodded slowly, tilting my head.
“Mm, okay, well… let me see…” the girl said, searching through her folder of music. “Let's see… Oh, what do you think of this one? It has your name on it,” (Y/N) said, handing a sheet to my daughter, who looked at it carefully.
“Oh, yeah, this one is perfect,” Maria said with wide eyes, looking at me over the paper with a knowing smile.
“Ahem, well…” (Y/N) coughed as Maria stood up to sit next to me.
“Di niente,” my daughter whispered with a discreet clearing of the throat, making me frown.
“Cosa?” I asked, silenced by a nudge.
“Shh… ascolta, mamma.”
The music started to play, and I recognized it immediately.
“Ave Maria…”  (Y/N) began to sing, letting me discover her beautiful voice, the most beautiful I had ever heard. “Gratia plena… Ave, ave Dominus…”
My mind immediately transported itself to several decades ago, before Mother Miranda, before the Black Gods, when I was just a girl, a tormented girl. Yes, I remembered those times when villagers were allowed to profess the faith they chose as long as they lived with the dark deities.
They were difficult times, but nothing compared to my current life.
I remember my family singing that song at Christmas, on special occasions. My mother, my father, my little sister, my grandparents… all of us together, like a vision of what once was and never came back.
I couldn't help but let a tear run down my face as I remembered, as I imagined what would have become of me if Miranda had never been so ambitious, if my life hadn't changed, if my body hadn't changed and Maria had never been born.
No, Maria wasn't a mistake, she was the best thing that ever happened to me, my little laughing baby who wondered where her mother was, what had happened to her.
I regret many things, my little Maria, but not having you as a daughter.
I remembered those sleepless nights with inconsolable cries, I remember losing my nerves, my mind, and I remembered… I remembered how I rocked my little Maria, how I sang to her to make her fall asleep in my arms, how I sang that song to her, that Ave Maria, by Schubert…
Damn clever girl, she knew it, she knew that the melody, those words in Latin would touch my soul. I'm proud of you, tesoro.
Slowly, unable to move voluntarily, I got up from the couch while (Y/N) played and sang, approaching her, sitting next to her on the stool. She looked at me, still singing, but smiling.
I looked at the keys, bringing my hand closer to them and looking for a sign to continue. The young woman nodded, with a tender smile.
“Nunc et in hora mortis…” we sang at the same time while playing the keys. It had been a long time since I had done it. “Et in hora mortis nostrae… Ave… Maria…”
“Great!” Maria said, clapping enthusiastically along with Angie.
I paid no attention to her, my eye were fixed on (Y/N)'s and hers on mine.
“Wow, Maria told me you didn't know how to play it,” she whispered after a tense moment, without moving from my uncomfortable proximity.
“W-Well, I don't know as much as you… I'm quite rusty,” I said with a honeyed, but nervous voice.
“Angie, let's go,” Maria said, looking at me and winking, taking the doll's hand that was protesting in a childish way.
“I-I used to sing this to Maria as a lullaby,” I said, daring to break that silence. “It brings back memories to me.”
“It must have been very difficult to raise a girl on your own, right?” (Y/N) commented, playing nervously with her hands.
“Yes, it was but… it was worth it,” I said with a smile, looking at the corner where Maria ran off to.
“Yes, of course, she's an amazing girl, Donna,” the young woman said, looking away.
“Yes, I… (Y/N) I…” I stammered, with a cold sweat running down my forehead, hitting the keys unintentionally. “I'm sorry, I… I want to tell you that… when you're here I… I feel, I feel like smiling again, and seeing you leave… It makes me sad.”
The girl laughed embarrassed, lowering her gaze but letting me continue and gain enough courage to extend my trembling hand to hers, which she let me do, interlacing our fingers.
“I would understand if you said no but… I don't know, (Y/N), maybe… maybe you'd like… not to leave again.”
“Mamma! Don't tell her that! It's creepy!” Maria, who was, of course, spying, shrieked.
“Oddio… go to your room!” I shrieked nervously without taking my hand off (Y/N)'s.
“Donna,” the pianist said, putting a hand on my cheek, turning my face towards hers. “Do you want me to stay? With you?”
“I… yes…” I said looking down, something I couldn't really do, since her hand prevented me from doing so. “I want you to stay… with me, with us and…”
I couldn't continue speaking, since her lips collided with mine without warning, kissing me deeply, slowly, in a sweet and addictive way.
Without wanting to do so, I pulled away, blinking confused, looking at her sweet smile, her eyes shining as she looked at me.
“I'm in love with you, (Y/N),” I finally confessed, throwing myself back into her slow, wet kisses, into her laughter that bounced off my lips, tickling them.
“You're a wonderful woman, Donna Beneviento,” (Y/N) whispered. “I'm crazy about you… And… well, I wouldn't mind staying with you. Well, I would like that you and Maria… were my family…”
“Really?”
“Really”
“Great!” Maria shrieked, running into (Y/N)'s arms, catching her off guard. “See, mamma? It wasn't that hard.”
“Oh, taci,” I said amused, shaking my head.
“It's the happiest day of my life,” my daughter said, hugging us both. “I love you!”
“Hey, come on, stop bothering,” I said, lowering her to the floor lovingly.
“Certo... I have to talk to Angie... my little sibling is getting closer...”

A needlessly detailed analysis of Heisenberg's Conspiracy Board
One of the random details I was most eager to find in the RE8 game assets was Heisenberg's conspiracy board. (It's labeled 'strategy board' in the game files, but I think we all know what we're looking at here.)
The assets consisted of a base layer (below) with separate higher-res photos of Chris, Mia, Rose (with Ethan!) and the other three lords (clean versions of those last three, plus Heisenberg, can be found over here). The actual model is more 3-dimensional than you might think, with many of the photos displayed as separate 'flaps' that stick out from the base board (which does unfortunately make stitching together higher-res screencaps of the full board very difficult).
Tumblr media
There are a few reasons why I wanted better pics of the board, but a real big one was catching an in-game glimpse of this one smaller photo on the upper right of some guy in sunglasses and going, wait, is that Wesker?
Tumblr media
Having extracted the highest-res version of that photo possible... well, for that to be Wesker, he'd have to have come back to life and aged about 20 years. Which wouldn't entirely be out of character (he's come back from the dead at least once already, and even Chris is looking his age these days) but is really that who it's supposed to be? IDEK, and neither does this one Reddit thread I found discussing the same question.
There are a few other human-faces around the board ‒ mostly some mustachioed dude(s?) ‒ some of them entirely hidden under other photos on the finished board, but none I recognise. Presumably they're meant to be folks who are/were involved with Miranda or other bio-weapons research, past or present, and maybe they're characters set to appear in some future RE installment. But they may just be stock photos, thrown in to fill space.
Tumblr media
But having finally posted this thing and come back to it again this morning, I'm looking at that one larger guy in one of those photos and going, wait, isn't that the Duke?
Tumblr media
Goddamn, it is, isn't it? You can even see the lapels of his jacket and the curve of the wagon roof over his head. How did I miss that? XD No prizes for guessing why Heisenberg might think he's worth including on a conspiracy board!
Most of the rest of the board is covered with photos of various monstrous bio-weapons. Again, this is probably meant to represent a mix of Miranda's work and that of other bio-weapons manufacturers. Someone more familiar with extended Resi-canon than I am might even be able to identify some of these creatures, but none were immediately familiar to me.
Tumblr media
Even the one zombie face below that looks almost exactly like a screencap from that first iconic zombie-reveal-scene from the very first Resident Evil turned out not to be (and yes, I checked both the original version and the remake), though it may still be meant to evoke that moment. The photo behind it, meanwhile, looks to be just a pair of soldats.
Tumblr media
The other big 'notice me!' feature is, of course, the big map with 'BSAA Come!!' scribbled on it. The circled target location is the ceremony site, identifiable by the four huge statues, and the date at the bottom (February 10, 2020) is the date of Miranda's planned ceremony (tomorrow morning).
Tumblr media
Presumably, this is supposed to be a map the BSAA themselves prepared for troop briefings, but no-one's going to get much out of trying to take this thing too literally. Realistically, the only reason "BSAA Come!!" is written in such big letters here is to let the player know at a glance that Heisenberg is clued in enough to be expecting a BSAA assault.
That's about it for really obvious features. There's not a lot else here that the casual viewer is likely to recognise or find particularly significant. But I'm way past 'casual' in over-analysing this damn game, and I can point out a dozen other features on this board that might (or might not) be awash with implications about all the juicy intel Heisenberg's got his hands on.
Basically, it's time to play my favourite game: Cheaply Reused Asset or Significant Callback?
See, much as I'd love for every last detail on this board to be dense with important lore, the reality is that the player gets barely a few seconds to look at this thing in-game, and so most of what's on it was probably thrown together in a hurry by some overworked member of the asset team without much thought. And nothing demonstrates this better than the fact that two different photo clusters (circled below) from the right edge of the board are duplicated wholesale as you move left across the board.
Tumblr media
Someone's just copy-pasted these in their entirety, slightly reduced them in size, and assumed no-one would notice. The asset team is only human, and believes in working smarter not harder as much as anyone.
Then there's the fact that a number of other assets you can find on this board are actually posters advertising fishing equipment, which you can find around the reservoir, near where you pick up the boat key.
Tumblr media
Why would Heisenberg include these on his conspiracy board? There's no good reason, they're just a convenient assets to fill in some space.
And then there's my all-time favourite random detail on this board ‒ a completely random photo of a bottle of Dulvey Beer, two bags of Half-Whole flour, and a carton of orange juice.
Tumblr media
Now, maybe somewhere in these games, you can find these exact items arranged in this position next to never-before-found coded clue to the future of the series! But more likely, this is just the asset team making an inside-joke about asset recycling, using a picture of some of the most oft-reused assets in the game, on a board that's already covered in reused assets from elsewhere. (Look, I thought it was funny, even if no-one else looking at the board is going to get it.)
So, yeah, a lot of what's on this board means nothing, except that whoever made it had limited time and a lot of space to fill. And That's Okay.
But then we get to the stuff where I do really wanna believe its inclusion means something. For one, the board contains copies of both the mission briefing Chris' team is carrying when they abduct Ethan (the one you find by the overtuned truck), and Rose's BSAA-headered medical checkup report.
Tumblr media
I already have this whole theory that that same medical report being leaked to Miranda might just be a major unsung catalyst for how she realised Rose's potential, and thus set all the events of the game in motion. So finding that the same report has made it's way onto Heisenberg's conspiracy board is a lovely bit of potential validation. Similarly, the implication that Heisenberg might have known about Chris' mission to Ethan's home before it even happened has some tantalising implications (or maybe he just found it out by the van where Ethan left it).
Rose's medical report isn't the only BSAA-headered document on the board either ‒ there's another on the top right (outlined in yellow) that doesn't correspond to any in-game asset I can find (presumably it wasn't actually needed for whatever it was created for). There's plenty elsewhere in this game to suggest Miranda has contacts in the BSAA feeding her all their secrets ‒ and whether Heisenberg got these reports from Miranda or independently, the fact he's got them at all suggests one hell of an info-leak.
Speaking of Miranda, you can find a couple of copies of some of her own research notes on Heisenberg's board ‒ this is the same asset used in her lab under the graveyard, where you can find notes about her experiments on 'Alcina D'. So that's another interesting file that it makes total sense Heisenberg might include on his board.
Tumblr media
The board also includes a couple of extracts from that issue of The Dulvey Daily from Ethan's home, with the article about the closing of the Baker investigation. Realistically, this is likely to be another case of a random asset being used without much thought, but it does make sense that Heisenberg would have followed that investigation (and I can't help but loved that Heisenberg felt the Horn of Plenty article was worth including in his vast conspiracy-network ‒ I told you they were shady!)
Tumblr media
You can find bits of a couple of Heisenberg's own Soldat-x-rays on the board too. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but they do look nicely sinister, so onto the board they go! (In multiple places again)
Tumblr media
That's about it for assets I could identify. However, there are also a few photos from around the village itself on the board ‒ two of which were evidently screenshots taken from Ethan's own point of view, given that his gun is clearly visible in the bottom left of the screen in customary position. Objectively, this makes no sense, but it sure does add to that "someone's been watching you" atmosphere that any good conspiracy board should aspire to.
Tumblr media
(I also feel like I should totally be recognising that doorway in the photo about the 'o' in 'mother', but can't place it.)
And for one final, bizarre detail, you may notice this weird photo of someone's feet appears in a few places on the board. And it's definitely the same photo ‒ the details line up perfectly, right down to the pin and that bit of string. But for some reason, someone's added a lace skirt to the feet in the example on the left.
Tumblr media
You can't even see that skirt in the finished board (it's under Miranda's picture), but it amused me nonetheless.
Before we finish, have a few more close-ups on some of the other weird photos you can find on the board.
Tumblr media
So, what conclusions can we draw here? There's a ton of detail on Heisenberg's conspiracy board to suggest he (or perhaps Miranda) has access to files from the BSAA and whoever Chris is now working with/for, that he's researched what happened at Dulvey and has certainly helped himself to Miranda's own files, if you'd like to read significance into what was included on the board. But there's also a ton of complete nonsense, so, you know, pretty much just RE lore operating as per usual.
I hope you've all enjoyed my little descent-into-madness while picking this thing apart.

Alcina's New Maid Pt. 12 Lady Dimitrescu x Reader
Summary: You and Alcina are becoming closer, something the both of you are happy about. With the good comes the angst, from two phone calls from Heisenberg, one phone call from Mother Miranda and another encounter with Stefana, things take a bit of a nosedive.

Tumblr media
Things between you and Alcina continued to progress, the two of you spent some more time together rebuilding your relationship and you've been spending more time with the girls as well. Even though you're still not having dinner with them every night, you've been joining them most nights. A few days ago Alcina asked you to join them for breakfast and when you woke up the next morning, you found a note on your nightstand.
Y/n, You had mentioned that there were mornings you would skip breakfast with us just so you can receive a note from me on your tray. It gave me inexplicable joy when I saw that you had kept every letter and to see how much you cherish them. If it's alright with you, I hope you continue to join us for breakfast and in return, I will continue writing you letters in the mornings. The girls miss having you around during meals, as do I. All my love, Alcina
For some reason, this letter meant more to you than the rest of them, even though they were all so special to you. This letter again proved to you that she's been listening, hearing what you've had to say and that she's been taking action. After you put the letter in the drawer with the rest of them, you get up, get yourself ready and head downstairs for breakfast.
As you walk towards the stairs, you can see Alcina just ahead of you, making her way down. She must have heard your heartbeat because as soon as you saw her, she stopped and turned around towards you.
"Good morning." She says with a smile.
"Good morning!"
"How did you sleep last night?"
"Like a rock, how was your night?"
"Uneventful, thankfully. I was able to get some much needed work done."
At this point, you're on the landing of the stairwell and Alcina is closer to the bottom of the stairs. From where you are, you're almost eye-level with her. Alcina tucks a strand of hair behind your ear and cups your face. She gazes into your eyes lovingly and you return the look. When she pulls her hand away, you reach out your arms to hug her. She happily leans in and wraps her arms around your waist and lifts you up as you wrap yours around her neck. You take a deep breath in while you're in her embrace, your nose filling with the scent of her hypnotizing perfume. On your exhale you relax into her and she tightens her hold on you just a bit. You pull away a bit so you can look at her and the two of you look into each others eyes again for a moment. Alcina smiles at you and places a soft kiss on your cheek, you immediately feel a light blush develop and you kiss her back on her cheek. She hugs you tightly again and cradles the back of your head.
"Oh, my love." She whispers so softly you almost missed it.
You hum and nuzzle into the crook of her neck.
Both of you were so invested in the moment you were having, neither of you noticed Stefana passing through the main hall. Her body tenses up as she glares at you in Lady Dimitrescu's arms. She quickly makes her way into another room before either of you notice her.
"How about we go eat?" Alcina says, placing a kiss on the side of your head. Nodding into her, you give her one more squeeze before she puts you down. The two of you walk towards the dining room, three swarms of flies meeting you at the door as you walk in.
"Good morning daughters." Alcina says as she takes her seat at the head of the table.
"Good morning mother." The three girls reply, all three of them still half asleep.
"What do you girls have planned for today?" She asks.
"Sleep." Cassandra says as she rests her face in her hand and closes her eyes.
"Cass! You said you would help me train!" Daniela says with a pout.
Cassandra grumbles and Bela looks over at Daniela.
"Dani I can help you today if you want."
"Really?!" Daniela all but shouts.
"Of course! Mama what are your plans for the day?" Bela asks Alcina.
"I have work to do, as per usual. Actually, y/n, I was wondering if you were able to help me with a few things today, if you don't mind of course."
"Not at all, I'd love to help." You say with a smile.
The three girls give each other small smiles that don't quite go unnoticed.
After breakfast, Alcina leads you up to her study.
"Thank you very much for assisting me today."
"Of course, I'm happy to give you a hand with whatever you need."
Alcina bends down and kisses the top of your head.
"Thank you my sweet. Unfortunately my filing has seemed to get away from me once again. You remember where everything needs to be filed, yes?"
"Yup!"
"Wonderful, I'm sorry to say that there's much more filing that needs to get done today than there was previously and I know how monotonous it can be."
"Alcina, really, it's okay." You say, turning towards her and looking up. "I don't mind, plus, I enjoy doing tedious things like this. I'm just happy I can help you somehow."
She bends down again and cups your face, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.
"Thank you."
You look around to see a handful of large stacks of papers around the room. This will definitely take you some time, but truthfully you're just happy to be around Alcina again without your heart feeling like it's shattering inside of your chest. After clearing a spot on the floor, you sit down and get to work, separating the papers like you did last time, making little piles. Alcina sits at her desk and shuffles through the paperwork in front of her.
It takes you almost two hours to sort through and organize all of the papers. Truthfully, you were surprised at how quickly the time went by, you felt so relaxed being around Alcina, she seemed to be relaxed as well in your presence. Well, as relaxed as she can be as she deciphers the chicken scratch on the letters from the mayor of the village.
"It is incredible how someone so unintelligent hasn't accidentally set fire to the entire village yet." She says to herself, frustrated.
A chuckle escapes from you before you're able to hold it back and Alcina side eyes you and smirks.
"Sorry." You say softly, pursing your lips to hold back more laughter.
"Something funny?" She asks, her tone is stern but her eyes have a playful look to them.
"Nope, not at all." You say as you file away a stack of papers.
"Mhm." She mutters as she arches an eyebrow.
Alcina puts the paper down onto her desk and rolls her neck out. You can feel her eyes on you while you file away another pile and you turn to look at her.
"May I help you?" You playfully ask.
She smirks and inches her finger towards you, signaling for you to walk over to her. Alcina cups her hand under your jaw and lifts your face to look up at hers. Her thumb caresses your cheek and you involuntary close your eyes and smile, when you open your eyes again you're met with Alcina's gorgeous gold irises.
"You are a very efficient helper my dear."
"I'm glad you think so."
"Come." She says, patting her lap. You smile and walk closer, Alcina lifts you up and sits you in her lap facing her. She leans back in her chair a bit and laces her fingers together behind your lower back, her thumbs gently caressing your sides.
Alcina tucks a strand of hair behind your ear and cups your face. After she looks at you for a moment she wraps her arms around you and pulls you into her, you hear her sigh and relax into you when she buries her face into your neck. You respond by wrapping your arms around her waist and holding her close.
"Are you okay?" You ask.
"Mhm." She mumbles before placing a kiss on your neck. She sits back up and looks down at you. "Yes, I'm alright. I just- I-" She looks away, furrowing her brow and biting her lip. You smile up at her and study her face as she works through her thought. Alcina isn't the best at being vulnerable, it's something you've known for a long time now. Although she's gotten much better at expressing herself and being vulnerable with you, old habits do indeed die hard. She wants to say "I missed you, I missed this." but she's having a difficult time forming the words.
Instead, you decide to wrap your arms around her again and rest your head on her chest, holding onto her tightly. She responds by doing the same, resting her chin on top of your head, gently running her hand up and down your back.
"I missed you too Alci." You say quietly.
Alcina's breath hitches in her throat, it's the first time you've called her by her nickname since everything happened. She never expected to become emotional when you called her that again, truthfully, she never really thought about you calling her Alci again. Not that she didn't want you to, it was just never something that crossed her mind as monumental. But hearing you call her that nearly brought tears to her eyes, the sense of familiarity, the feeling of closeness you get when the one you love calls you by your nickname hit her like a ton of bricks. Such a simple thing showed how comfortable you were with her once again and she had never been so grateful to hear that name before in her life. She cradles the back of your head and places a kiss on the top of it before resting her cheek there.
Alcina opens her mouth to say something and is interrupted by the phone. You can feel the low growl in her chest, aggravated that the moment was interrupted. Placing a hand against your back to secure you against her, she leans forward and picks up the phone.
"Lady D-" you feel her body tense underneath you and a louder growl emerges from the back of her throat. "Heisenberg. What do you want?" You can't hear whoever is on the other end of the line but whoever it is, she doesn't seem happy to be talking to them. "I don't care what your mutts-" . . . "They what? . . . And why are you just making me aware of this? . . . Have you spoken to Mother Miranda about- will you stop interrupting me! . . . Fine. . . . No I will not . . . Because it's your dirty mutts who found them! . . . Stop acting like a child and do your job! . . . You've wasted enough of my precious time, goodbye."
Alcina all but slams the phone down and pinches the bridge of her nose and inhales deeply, slowly exhaling. Looking up at her, you can see the stress of the conversation slowly melt away as she grounds herself. She opens her eyes and looks back down at you and gently smiles.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yes, I apologize for the interruption. That was my idiot younger brother, Karl Heisenberg. I hope you never have this misfortune of meeting him but unfortunately he's a parasite that's difficult to get rid of."
"I didn't know you had a brother."
"He's not my biological brother, heavens no, sharing genetics with that imbecil?" She says with a laugh. "I would rather die than be blood related to that child. He is one of the four lords."
"Oh, I thought the name was familiar."
"Yes, we were all brought together by Mother Miranda to rule over the village."
"Gotcha. Was everything okay? You seemed a little concerned."
"Yes, everything is fine for now. It's nothing I cannot handle and nothing I want you worrying your pretty little mind about." She says, gently booping your nose. You crinkle your nose and smile in response.
Her eyes wander from your face back to her desk and she sighs.
"As much as I would love to sit here all day with you, unfortunately I have some things to finish that cannot wait any longer."
"It's okay, I still have some filing left to do anyway."
Alcina kisses you on the forehead and lifts you from her lap. As she lifts you, the phone rings again. She puts you down and she picks up the phone.
"Mother Miranda, what a lovely surprise." She says with her best customer service voice. You look over at Alcina and she looks at you.
"Do you want me to go?" You mouth, pointing at the door.
Alcina shakes her head "no" so you continue to file away the papers.
"Yes, I just spoke with him. . . . Well yes, it is quite concerning but from the information I received, it's nothing we haven't dealt with previously. . . . Of course. . . . Yes next week is fine. . . . What?" The tone of her voice drastically changes and her wide eyes glance over to you. "Yes, she is still my handmaiden. . . . Mother Miranda, I must insist-" . . . "Yes Mother Miranda, I will make sure she is there. . . . Thank you Mother Miranda, goodbye."
Alcina hangs up and brings her hands up and gently rubs her face, sliding them back towards her temples where she massages them for a moment. She sits up, dropping her hands and turns towards you.
"Mother Miranda is requesting your presence for a meeting with the rest of the Lords next week."
"What? Me? Why?"
"She says she would like you to take notes for the meeting, however I can't help but feel she's testing me in some way."
"Why would she be testing you?"
"I have a feeling she believes that you are more than a simple handmaiden to me. I believe she wants you there to test my loyalty, as well as yours quite frankly."
"What's the meeting about? Does it have to do with whatever Heisenberg called about?"
"Yes, his lycans regularly patrol the forests and they've come across a group of hunters. Which is not uncommon, however there were more than usual."
"Hunters?"
"Yes, there are groups of men, usually, that try to hunt us. Well, myself and the girls more often than anyone else." Dread fills your chest for a moment and Alcina immediately picks up on it. "Which is exactly why I did not want to tell you to begin with, but given you'll be in the meeting we're having next week to discuss the matter, you have a right to know. But don't worry, they've never gotten past the castle walls and none of us have been seriously injured in decades. They're usually smaller groups of five to eight hunters, but the group the lycans spotted had about a dozen. They were able to take care of most of them so the threat is neutralized for now, but its still cause for concern."
"What happened when you were seriously hurt?"
"That my dear is a conversation for another day."
"Okay."
"I could use a drink." She says, lighting a cigarette.
"Do you want me to go down to the kitchen and get you some wine?"
"Absolutely not, last time you went down there on your own you were almost killed. I'll have Zina bring it up along with a pot of tea."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." She said, leaving no room for argument in her voice.
Alcina picks up the phone and calls down to the kitchen, taking a drag from her cigarette. Exhaling the smoke from her nose, the rest escapes from between her lips as she begins to speak.
"Yes, would you please send up a bottle of wine to my study? As well as a pot of tea with two cups please. Thank you."
You go back to filing and Alcina continues her paperwork, taking drags mindlessly from her cigarette.
A few minutes later there's a knock on the door.
"Come in." Alcina says.
Zina walks into the room with a large tray. A bottle of wine, a wine glass, a large pot of tea, milk, sugar, a flask of what's probably blood and two teacups sitting on it.
"Good morning my Lady." Zina says, placing the tray on the table near the door.
"Good morning Zina."
Zina looks up at you and shoots you a wink. She pours her a glass of wine and brings the glass and bottle to her desk.
"How did you possibly know which I wanted first?" Alcina says with a chuckle as she takes the glass and swirls the contents in it before smelling it and taking a big sip.
"Just a hunch." Zina says before turning around, heading back to the tray. Alcina smirks at her and goes back to her paperwork. "How would you like your tea, y/n?"
"Oh, you don't have-"
"Please, I insist." Zina says.
You tell her how you want your tea and she walks over to you and hands you the cup and saucer.
"Thank you." You say, taking it from her.
"Tea my Lady?"
"Not right now, thank you."
"Is there anything else you need from me my Lady?"
"I don't believe so, thank you Zina."
"My pleasure."
As Zina leaves the phone rings again, visibly annoyed, Alcina downs the rest of her wine and answers.
"Yes? . . . Heisenberg." She growls. "What do you want?! . . . Absolutely not! I don't want those mutts anywhere near my castle! . . . Then clean up your own messes!" She slams the phone down onto the receiver and balls her hands into fists. "That man-child is so infuriating!" She says out loud.
"Y/n," she says, bringing her hands to her temples.
"Yeah?"
"Do me favor love, take two very large steps to your right."
"Uh, okay." You say as you take a few steps, putting about five feet of distance between you and the spot you were occupying.
Alcina growls and grabs her wine glass and launches it across the room into the wall, it shatters as it makes contact, sending shards of glass everywhere.
"Thank you dear."
"I'm gonna go grab a broom." You say.
As you walk past her, she reaches her arm out and wraps it around your waist and pulls you into her. She leans her head into the crook of your neck and takes a deep inhale, your hand slides to the back of her head and you can feel her relax as she exhales. When she pulls away you gently cup her face and gaze into her gorgeous gold eyes.
"You okay?"
"Yes, thank you." She leans in and kisses your forehead. When her lips leave your skin, you hold one side of her face and stand up on your tip toes and kiss her on the cheek. Alcina closes her eyes and leans into you a little.
"My sweet girl."
"I'll be right back, okay?" You say, your thumb gently caressing her cheek.
"No dawdling." She says with a wink.
"Never." You respond with a smile.
Closing the door to her study behind you, you check one of the closets in the hallway for a broom but can't find one. The maids must have them. You decide to check the closet in the main hall, that one usually has extra supplies and a few brooms.
As you start to walk down the stairs you see Stefana walk across the main hall. You freeze for a moment and she looks up and sees you, the look on her face immediately hardens as she glares at you. She changes direction and heads towards the stairs. For a moment you consider turning around and running back to Alcina's study but you don't. You're so fed up with dealing with Stefana, with avoiding her, with having to sneak around the castle hoping you won't run into her. Things between you and Alcina are going really well and she's right, you shouldn't have to be afraid in your own home. So you decide to continue your descent down the stairs and try to walk past her when you get to the landing. Stefana steps in front of you and doesn't let you past her.
"You fucking bitch." She growls at you. "What the fuck did I tell you? Stay away from her."
"No." You say, looking her in the eye. "She told you to leave me alone, if you really loved her, you'd listen to her."
"You stole EVERYTHING from me!" She yells.
"I stole nothing. If you should be mad at anyone, you should be mad at the Lady, I did nothing to you, I never did anything to you."
"You're going to pay for what you did to me!"
"You're insane, leave me alone or the Lady is going to make sure whatever you're thinking of doing will be the last thing you ever do."
"Stefana!" You hear a voice yell from behind you. You turn around to see Zina standing at the top of the stairs. "Leave the girl alone."
"NO! She stole her from me!" She yells at her.
"She did no such thing. I warned you and you didn't listen. Your errors are not her fault."
"I LOVE HER!"
"She doesn't love you." Zina says.
You step around Stefana and try to walk away but she grabs your arm and turns you towards her.
"She's going to love me again, mark my words."
"You're fucking cra-" you're cut off when she backhands you across the face.
"Stefana!" Zina yells.
In shock, your hand cups your face and you look into Stefana's eyes, they're dark, angry, unhinged. You see something snap inside of her and she shoves you backwards. Fear shoots through your body as you feel yourself fall, the world goes into slow motion and you try to steady yourself but you just fall further and further back. In an instant everything speeds up you instinctively put your arm back to brace yourself and the second you hit the step you feel something snap and you cry out in pain. After that you feel the world spin as your body hits every step on the way down. You don't even feel like you're in your own body, you're aware of every time your body makes contact with a step, and you know it's painful, but you don't feel any pain, but somehow you know the pain is there. At some point you definitely hit your head but all you can think is that the room is spinning more than it should and that you're falling for too long.
You roll off of the last step and onto the floor, you can barely open your eyes but when you do you see Zina at the top of the steps, a horrified look on her face and you see Stefana, she has an absolute crazed look on hers as she stares down at you, smiling with the most terrifying smile you've ever seen on someone.
You think you hear Zina scream "MY LADY!" but your heartbeat is so loud in your ears you're not even sure she spoke. Stefana starts walking down the stairs and your eyes close, you feel like you were unconscious for a little while but when you open them again, Stefana is just a few feet away from you.
"Just die already!!" She screams. You see her leg swing back and she kicks you in the stomach. In a split second it feels like all of the air was forced out of your body and you can't breathe for a few seconds. Instinctively, your arms cover your stomach to protect yourself and you see her reel back to kick you again and you close your eyes.
"Y/N!!"
A horrified scream rings throughout the castle, so powerful you could have sworn you felt the vibrations through the floor. You open your eyes and first notice Stefana turning around to face where the scream came from. The next thing you see is Alcina at the top of the stairs, you've never seen her look so scared before in your life. Her fear morphs into unbridled anger when her gaze shifts from you to Stefana. Alcina begins to walk down the stairs, she could have ran down them but time seems to slow down and speed up randomly.
"Alci," you try to say, but your voice is weak and the room spins again.
Alcina is shaking, from both anger and fear as she descends the stairs. As she gets towards the bottom she unsheathes her claws and plunges them into Stefana.
Your vision gets blurry but you can hear Alcina's calws, looking up at Stefana as she faces Alcina. She twitches and a split second later you see Alcina's claws come out through the middle of her back, your vision comes back clearly and you lay there, horrified. You open your mouth to scream but nothing happens.
Alcina lifts Stefana up, bringing her up to her eye level.
"I warned you." Alcina growls. "I told you the next time you so much as breathe in her direction, it would be the last breath you take."
"I love you." Stefana says. "She wasn't worthy of you love, I was."
"You are not worthy of anything."
"At least my blood will help sustain you." She says, her voice rapidly weakening.
"I would never taint my wine with blood as disgusting as yours." Alcina sneers.
Stefana's face twists into a look of horror, of deceit, of heartbreak.
"I loved you, mistress."
"I never loved you, vermin."
Alcina retracts her claws and Stefana plummets to the ground. Her body twitches for a moment before she becomes still.
You watch in horror as Stefana's body falls in front of you, she killed her. Alcina killed her. The blood pools around her body as is pours out from the wounds from Alcina's claws and as you stare at it, you begin to disconnect from the world, from the pain that was starting to creep up on you, from everything.
Alcina steps over Stefana's body and kneels on the floor next to you.
"Y/n," she says as her voice trembles. She goes to touch you but pulls her hands away, afraid to injure you further.
You look up at her and see the tears in her eyes, the fear on her face. She just brutally killed someone in front of you and she's worried about you? You try to sit up but the moment you move anything pain shoots through your entire body.
"No no no love, don't move, don't move honey." She touches your cheek like you're made of the most fragile glass in the world.
Your eyes close, you're not sure if they closed for a few seconds or a few minutes again but when you open them, Stefana's body is still in front of you. Staring at the pool of blood around her, you see more out of the corner of your eye. When you look you see more next to you, you're confused for a second before realizing that you're laying in a small pool of your own blood. Fear courses through your body again and you begin to cry. As you cry, you feel the pain in your stomach and it was as if feeling that one pain was a switch because suddenly, you feel pain everywhere.
"Shhh love, it's okay, you're okay." Alcina says.
Looking up at her you can see the tears rolling down her cheeks. When you gaze back forward, you see Stefana again and it clicks in your mind again that Alcina killed her.
"You killed her." You say softly as you cry. "She's dead, you killed her." Crying harder, you continue to repeat yourself like a broken record.
"I know, I know, it's okay, you're okay, you're safe. You're safe my love."
Every cell in your body feels like its in pain and all you want to do is stop staring at the body in front of you but you can't seem to pry your eyes away from it.
"Daughters!!" Alcina yell out. She turns around and see's the three girls standing behind her. How long were they there for? Alcina thinks for a split second. They must have been there long enough because Daniela has tears running down her face, Bela is standing next to her with her arm wrapped around her shoulder trying to comfort her even though Bela has a horrified look on her own face. If she was thinking clearly, Alcina would realize that she's never seen Cassandra look so angry in her entire life, the look in her eyes is terrifying.
"Someone get rid of this!" She yells, gesturing to the body. "And don't put her anywhere near my distillery. I don't want a drop of her in any of my wine!"
"What do you want us to do with her?" Cassandra asks, her voice is steady, so steady it's almost scary, and cold.
"I don't care just get rid of it!"
Cassandra turns into a swarm and appears next to the body, an evil smile crosses her face before she turns into another swarm and surrounds Stefana, the flies completely cover the body and Cassandra flies towards the dungeon stairs and disappears.
You lay on the ground, still hyperventilating.
"Y/n," Alcina says softly, "just breathe." A whimper escapes from you as you try to breathe in. "I know it hurts love, I know, just keep trying to breathe for me, okay?"
"Mamă, ce facem?" Daniela softly says. (Mama, what do we do?)
Alcina turns towards her girls.
"One of you call Donna, tell her to bring every healing herb and salve she says immediately."
"Should we call uncle Sal?"
"Absolutely not, I cannot trust him to keep this from Miranda."
"What else?" Bela asks.
"Get someone to clean this damn mess up!"
The girls disperse and Alcina turns back towards you, you've stopped hyperventilating but you're still crying.
"Y/n, what hurts? I need you to tell me where you're hurt."
"Everything hurts." You cry.
"I have to lift you off of the floor, okay? I'm going to be as gentle as I can but it's going to hurt, okay love?"
Nodding your head as you cry, you brace yourself. Alcina carefully slides her hands underneath you and lifts you bridal style into her arms. As she's lifting you, you cry out from the pain of being moved but as soon as she pulls you into her it subsides. She slowly stands up and begins walking up the stairs. Zina is on the landing, standing there in shock with tears in her eyes. She looks up at Lady Dimitrescu as she walks by.
"My lady, I'm- I'm so sorry. I should-"
"None of this is your fault Zina, please don't blame yourself. The blame is to be placed on her" Alcina says, nodding towards the pool of blood where Stefana was. "and myself. I should have done something much sooner, I never should have let it go this far." Zina goes to speak but Alcina cuts her off. "Take the rest of the day off, that's an order."
"Yes my Lady."
Zina begins to descend the stairs and Alcina carries you into her bedroom.
Alcina sits on her bed and cradles you as you continue to cry. You're not even sure why you're crying, if it's from the pain, watching Alcina kill Stefana, all of the fear you felt in such a short amount of time, everything combined or for no reason at all. The only thing you can do is grab onto Alcina's cream dress with one blood stained hand like your life depended on it while you cradle your other arm and cry. She gently rocks you as she tries to soothe you, careful she doesn't injure you further or aggravate your injuries.
"It's okay, you're safe now, okay? You're safe now." She says, pressing the most gentle kiss to your forehead as a tear rolls down her cheek. "I'm so sorry," Alcina whispers. "I'm so sorry for not protecting you. I'm so sorry."

Liminal (RL!Mia Winters x MC/Reader)
Fandom: Resident Evil 8/Resident Lover Genre: Fluff and angst and fluff and angst Rating: Idk T? for blood. kind of. Warnings: Major character death, major spoilers (mainly implied) for Resident Lover, minor violence (not in detail) Summary: Mia's memories layer over each other, nineteen lives and hundreds of different loops, confusing and muddling her perception of the present. There is only one constant: Love. Notes: Less of a series of scenes and more like a lot of musing, with a tiny, tiny "scene" at the end. Most of the Mia/MC vibes are implied (referenced past fwb situation, but it's implied that they had feelings beyond that). References to the MC dating a few of the other characters because loops.
She doesn’t intentionally seek the memories out, doesn’t chase the heart-killer of nostalgia, the wretched thing hiding rot behind a shiny facade. But neither does she spend any effort to avoid the trappings of the past. When the moments come, when deja vu greets her, Mia only ever lets it wash over her. Peacefully. Hauntingly. After this many lives, it is the easiest lesson to heed.
Sometimes the memories come with a smile, a soft exhale that flows into a snicker. The first time she watches you on stage, pouring your heart out as Romeo, she can’t help but remember having to help you cram for your Language Arts final. Recalls the way your lips pouted after a particularly exasperated sigh; she can trace the mental image of the way those lips curled back into a smile at one of her dumb jokes. It’s the joke itself she can’t remember. A jab at Shakespeare, probably, the man an easy choice of target.
There’s a moment (it repeats, by God it repeats, a dozen times over the loops, every instance layered on top of the last) where she sits next to you on a couch meant for three. Instinct makes her legs twitch, yearning to prop her feet up on your lap, not letting anybody sit between you. Instead, she suppresses a smile, and watches as one of your roommates all but sits on top of you. It doesn’t matter which one; in Mia’s eyes, they’re both better than Miranda, if only in this moment, for this purpose.
Other memories make her breath hitch in her throat, words stuck to the sides of her mouth like cotton, another stone to sink in her stomach. These are the ones that blend together the most, twisting further with every loop, muddling her perception of which life she’s in. Most come by accident, echoing the way she’s met you before. A bump in the hallway, papers scattering, both crouching down to pick everything up. Sudden rainfall making you scramble to share an umbrella, going back and forth between who gets most of the cover. Teaming up to take down the reigning asshole at whatever drinking game the campus is currently obsessed with.
“You look familiar- have we met before?” You’ll ask, once in a blue moon of a loop, except this time it’s more than reuniting with a childhood friend. This time it’s reaching out to pluck the heartstrings of your soulmate. One of your soulmates, that is. Mia’s response only ever comes with unearned confidence, mirth dancing on her tongue, deflecting, deflecting, denying- a hint of flirting, maybe, when she can afford it. Getting you to blush had been a favorite pastime of hers, once, twice, many times. Even if it never extended into anything more official than sharing a bed.
Seeing you at parties makes her feel like so little has changed. Always the same drink of choice, always too readily egged on by friends. If she squinted, it would be easy to put herself in Daniela’s place at your side, and so Mia never lets her gaze linger for too long. When the cups get too deep for you, it’s far too easy to stop herself from intervening. She never did before. Even when she should have. Those are the timelines where Angie does more for you than Mia’s past self could ever dream of.
It almost makes up for the time she finds your body crumpled in front of the doll’s car, crimson splashed across the bumper. She stares, only for a moment, wondering when she stopped feeling anything at the sight of your corpse. Then she catches a glimpse of three familiar fanatics in the crowd, makes note of the way their horror differs from those around them. Figures their attempts at keeping you out of the spotlight would go too far, eventually. Figures that the real nostalgia greets her fingers as they wrap around the handle of her knife. Revenge was an old friend- just one rarely visited these days.
Hard for her to thrive on revenge when she’s got the bloodiest hands of them all. Strange how the feelings shifted over time, guilt warping into freeing comfort. The first time she killed you, the first time she brought on a new loop across a knife’s edge, she almost threw up. Stared at the deep cuts and lost herself in the memory of finding Miranda cradling your lifeless body, the end of your past incarnation. It made her stomach churn, made her heart drop, and fully solidified her need to make sure the loop would meet a perfect end (the only way to guarantee you’d never meet that fate again).
By now, the blood flows freely, remorse a trinket left forgotten on dusty shelves. It’s for the best. Better her than someone else, better for her to soak your bond in blood than to let it rot in the open. Ending the loop fills her with relief, with joy, as she invokes her promise to give you not just a happy ending, but the right one. She loses track of how many times she’s knocked you down or out, how many loops she’s filled with blood, how many times she’s allowed you the comfort of bleeding out in her arms.
Ironic, then, that you never accuse her of murdering you, only someone far less important. More ironic yet that the finger of blame forces her to recall the life that bound your souls together. But that memory doesn’t perfectly layer over the present, when she’s not burning by your side, dying with your name on her lips. The way you look at her almost makes her miss the flames (the next moment she focuses on has your hands touch in passing, knuckles brushing up against each other, and she feels an entirely different kind of fire).
There are times where she wonders how much you remember. Not consciously, not truly, but which memories are etched into your soul itself. Now those are the moments that test her resolve, that tempt her to chain herself to pursuing the past the same way that Miranda does. All it takes to make her heart stop is for you to tilt your head to the side, eyes not quite narrowed, a sly smile paired with a twinkle in your eye. Something about that expression always lets her know you’re on the verge of remembering something. Half of the time you’ll follow it up with a carefully worded question, never sure if Mia feels the same deja vu that you do.
Your timing isn’t always perfect; she can’t blame you, not with the way her memories layer over each other, fighting to see which controls her present.
One hand in her pocket, clutching her switchblade, the other placed gently on your shoulder. Now that the election is over (again. how many times have you won? why do you never walk away, even when Bela begs you?), she needs to remove you. But your eyes light up as soon as she touches you. Head tilt? Check. Sly smile? Check. You should be scared by the way she’s looking at you, by the way she has you cornered on the balcony, but somehow your mind has skipped past the familiar danger and right into the familiar flirting. Aren’t you supposed to be in love with Bela this time around?
“Care to dance?” You ask, offering your hand. How long has it been since the two of you danced?... Not since Miranda refused to go with you, a lifetime or two or five ago, long before the loop. Mia had been the one to ask you then. Her expression now must mirror what yours had been that day. Surprise, amusement, and adoration. Of course she agrees.
By the time Bela interrupts, the way she does in too many loops, Mia is grateful. It had been hard enough to avoid kissing you in that past life, it was almost impossible now. Still, the Dimitrescu stands frozen for a moment, her own layered memories not finding any match for the sight. She’s supposed to be tackling Mia, knocking her off the balcony, body breaking in the bushes below. Neither of them move, trying to calculate a route to familiar endings.
Mia misjudges her decision, ruins the feelings, guarantees that you’ll harbor a hesitance to dance with her for all loops and lives to follow. She holds your hand, she holds her knife. She holds your hand, she takes your life. For once, Bela is the one who’s two steps behind, her shove coming too late, even if it still carries Mia off of the ledge.
Death never takes either of you for terribly long. Miranda pulls back the fog of limbo, breaks the rules, makes the void spit you both back out, resetting the loop. One wakes up with memories of everything, the other with only impressions. Lingering pieces of nineteen strange dreams, and a hundred futures cycling over one another with interlocking grooves, the only set pattern being love and love and wretched, bloody love. Mia doesn’t chase the nostalgia, doesn’t seek out the ways she knows will lead to love, to the familiar warmth of your heart next to hers. Why would she? All roads lead back to you.

The Miranda brainrot is real so have some random thoughts that haunt me may or may not make it to ao3 at some point:
AU where MC and Miranda are married and long for children of their own, but neither is able to. Enter Miri the Madwoman stealing a child (Rose) and proudly presenting it to MC à la "Merry Christmas" or some shit. MC is horrified, ofc she´s always known her wife is a bit...different bish is crazy af, but that just takes the fucking cake like WTF MIRI. But MC can´t help but notice how Rose is the spitting image of her wife, she´s just perfect, so beautiful...NO, get your shit together MC what are you doing ffs. YOUR WIFE´S KIDNAPPED A KID, KEEP THAT DANGER TO SOCIETY ON A LEASH PLS AND TY.
MC is the 5th Lord but instead of ending up as yet another (unwanted) "child" of Miranda, Crazy Birb Momma takes her as wife cause even Crazy Birb Mommas get lonely at some point. MC is present at meetings ofc, acting as Miranda´s little shadow while also keeping their "kids" somewhat in check. (Something Miranda finds strangely...stimulating.) Ever since MC has joined their fucked up family, Karl actually enjoys those meetings because he gets to witness Alci turn green with envy whenever Miranda´s attention is on MC. Which happens a lot because MC knows what she´s doing. MC and Karl are partners in crime, so ofc she´s got Karl´s back here. She´s got a much better pokerface though, so nobody ever assumes she´s doing all that stuff just to rile Lady Super-Sized Bish up. Oh and she´s secretly plotting her wife´s demise btw. With her best friend Karl, ofc. (This is very much MC x Miranda, but yall know my girl MC loves playing hard to get.)
MC is on vacation, touring through Europe. At some point, she finds herself in Romania (duh). Only problem: her car´s nav system is a useless mf, leading her right into the middle of fucking nowhe-oh wait, nvm. There´s tire prints, so that means there´s civilization. Thank fuck. Or not. This village is...strange. The people are strange. Dressed as if they stepped straight outta some black-and-white film. The...accommodations (if one can even call them that) match the overall feel of being plunged back into the 1900s. Srsly, what´s up with tha-AH! Fucking shit. Where tf did that Lady come from?? And why is she dressed like some saint?...And why´s she still staring? Honestly - her eyes are up here, not on her ti...belly? (For once, she wishes someone would stare at her tits cause this shit´s getting creepier by the second.) There´s also some crazy old lady who keeps inviting her for tea. Or soup. Or cake. Or to chant in unholy unison as we make our sacrifice and await the light at the end because there´s glory in life and in death. Wait what.
Yes, the last one is Miri the Tired Studhorse. :3
(Might also use it for smt else though. Cause I´m kinda digging that vacation storyline.)

honestly Ive been so interested with what the hc of the sister would be when they got reborn. The emotions, confusion, love they got from Alcina. What did Alcina need to help them with. Like bathing, clothes, eating or even speaking. How did the other lords react to the girls and how did the girls react to the other lords.
I guess this will be more around them as new siblings and daughters to Alcina.
I would love to hear your thoughts about this but like always take your time.
This is so wholesome🙌 Let’s get into it! :)
Masterlists
A mass of flies, withering, chirping, moving here and there. This is how it began
Nothing special, even, Alcina thought back then. Flies. Insects. A pest
Was it a punishment? She had asked for daughters, not pets. Certainly not such tiny, winged ones
What a cruel gift it was
Of course, she looked after the three large piles of flies. After all, they were given to her by Mother Miranda. But- why? Would the insects become drone-like spies, perhaps? Alcina scowled at the thought, back then. Surely, these things would be by far better off at Heisenberg’s!
What a cruel fate, after she had been given the promise of daughters! Three girls. Instead, three piles of nearly dead, rotting, insects
What to do with the bedrooms?
The cribs?
The toys?
The pacifiers?
The tiny dresses? The cute shoes she had purchased for her future daughters?
The countless hours spent at night trying to come up with names for the trio she would soon help deliver into this world
Perhaps, it is good she couldn’t come up with any so far. Not that rotting, infected insect-drone-spies would be worth any name! Something of no consciousness, no thought, no sense of self awareness
At least, this is what she thought…
Bela
Alcina remembers the day her eldest came into the world perfectly well
She remembers the snowy wind smashing against the windows, the cold breeze in the castle fought off by warm air from the fireplace
She remembers sitting by such a fireplace, down in the cellars, writing her usual reports on the cadou-infected flies when suddenly…she heard a sound
A cracking. Small, and squishy. Alarmed, she had jumped up. It sounded almost as though the insects were…splitting..!
And to her greatest surprise and horror, they did
Thousands she so carefully tended to, simply snapping in half and splitting open
Only, did new ones crawl from them. More, and more. So many she had to take a step back
Then, her golden eyes widened as the flies assumed a form
A woman, petite and slim, sitting on the floor, biting the air and squealing quietly as if in fear of the strange amount of insects whirling around
A woman…
A daughter? Could it be?
She remembers, she suddenly felt anxiety. She had not anticipated this any more. Suddenly, she thought of all the emotions her appearance would trigger
Pain. Fear. Hurt. Anger. Disgust
Would she scare the woman off the moment she came into this world?
When the woman turned, it was Alcina who was startled, though
The woman sported a pair of beautiful, bright golden eyes, such as Alcina’s
She bore golden locks of hair, smeared with blood and with dead insects stuck inside, yet beautiful in their colour nonetheless
Then, a squeak came from the blonde again. She looked up at her, worried
“Mama”
Alcina still cannot comprehend why she had said it. She simply felt it, then, when those wide, fearful, golden eyes looked up at her. Fear, that was not directed at her
And the woman? She so eagerly beamed at the phrase, as if understanding her
Upon closer inspection, Alcina noticed: while locked in the body of an adult, the woman seemed truly reborn. Her child
Her daughter
Neither of them needed words from the blonde- they both understood the deep bond created
With a smile tugging at her lips, Alcina still remembers the thought that had come to her then:
“My beautiful girl. I know you will be a bright one, my dear. I will name you, Bela”
Again, the reborn smiled widely. Alcina heard the flies surrounding them buzzing happily
Yes, a smart one indeed, to seemingly understand her mother, even if she was unable to respond properly back then
With a warm smile, she picked her eldest up, and with a look thrown over her shoulder at the other two piles of flies, she held her darling Bela close, her embrace promising unconditional love, care, protection and warmth
Cassandra
Just as with her eldest, Alcina often fondly thinks back to the rebirth of her fierce middle child
She remembers having put Bela to bed, a makeshift crib in her own bed; she hadn’t quite anticipated her daughters to be adult-sized, though looking back, she could face palm at such naivety
Unlike with Bela however, she was prepared this time
Equipped with warm clothing and a glass of blood, she waited at the table in the warm room, until finally, she heard the strange noise again
Wet, squishy cracks. Loud buzzing, as if irritated
She heard the frustrated squeals and whimpers immediately as her second child was reborn
Upon gazing down at her, Alcina noticed: this one was a brunette, with strong, deep golden eyes. A lazy eye, and thick lips covered in blood. Whose? Alcina has yet to figure that out to this day
She remembers the little one’s growls and squeals to make up for words unable to be spoken
And yet, she understood her daughter’s frustration immediately
“Calm yourself, darling”, she coaxed, one of her large hands gently cupping the infantile woman’s head while the other made quick work of swatting away the flies that buzzed around her and irritated her so
“There, it’s all good, my little fly”, she hummed
Yet, it was then her turn to squeak in surprise, when she went to brush the blood from her daughter’s lips and felt sharp, untrained teeth dig into her hand instead
Shocked, she drew her hand back with a loud roar coming from the unexpected pain
And yet, no anger that bubbled up in her came to surface, as the quivering lip and wide, surprised eyes belonging to her daughter were indication enough that she did not intend to harm her
As such, a smile came to her lips. She had found the proper name for this one, and with her injured hand cupping the brunette’s face, she announced:
“Cassandra, my fiery little huntress”
Like her eldest, Cassandra seemed to understand her, too, clasping her hands eagerly
And again, she heard the flies her darling was made of buzz excitedly and warmly. A bond, a promise
And yet, unlike little Bela, this one was less eager to be picked up by her mother, so when she was taken under her armpits, she merely growled and phased right through Alcina in the form of many, little swarms of flies
Confused, she had titled her head. She still laughs a little upon remembering this
It took a few more tries and coaxing, even convincing the reborn toddler-like brunette that she could not walk just yet, but eventually she felt her middle child against her, too
And while she expected her to be fussy, she was anything but
In fact, Alcina noted how still the brunette became, utterly focused on patting at her chest in an attempt to reach and touch the heart she felt and heard beating gently underneath
At last, with a smile and a warm, loving kiss pressed to Cassandra’s forehead, she promised love, care, protection and warmth, too
Daniela
Two daughters reborn, tucked in in her large bed, cuddled into one another, snoring and whining at one another in their sleep
Twisting and turning, stealing their blankets from one another until Alcina tucked them in one each and wrapped them up snugly
However, a single pile is remaining
The youngest daughter
Alcina’s heart skipped a beat at the thought. Three daughters. Her daughters. Hers to raise, to guide, to love and nurture, to look after, to protect with her life should it come down to it
This time, Alcina was completely prepared, having learned from Cassandra that her youngest might also awaken with a near insatiable feeling of hunger
Her head snapped to the side, then. Ah, yes
The noise, again
When she heard the by then familiar snapping and cracking, she jumped to her feet quickly, eager to get close to the pile of flies
This time, however, her daughter seemed to have issues finding her way around in their swarm. Squeals and whines, growls and mewls were heard
Then, a hand reached out
Alcina nearly gasped in surprise when it latched onto her own, five fingers wrapping around her index and middle finger with surprising strength
“It’s all right, little one, they will calm soon”, she promised as the little bundle of flies and limbs seemed to grow fussy at the insects swarming around her
Then, slowly, more was revealed
Auburn hair, equally sticky and tangled with flies and blood, but evidently soft and long
A button nose, poking up and scrunching up in-between the swarms of flies
Upon tapping it with her fingertip, a little squeal was heard from the swarm. Alcina could have sworn the love she felt then shot right from her heart
Then, soft cheeks, with some baby fat still that her sister lack, soft, pink lips, and lastly, equally golden eyes
But they were special, too
It seems the cadou did not fully take this one’s eyes over, she noted, for she saw specks of green mixed into the gold irises
Then; another wave of emotions hit her. However, this one did not originate from her, but from the flies surrounding her and slowly bonding and connecting with her through the cadou they shared
A feeling was shared. Love. Confusion. Dependency
“I’m here, my little Daniela”, Alcina spoke lovingly
Unlike her sisters, the tiny redhead neither struggled, nor showed disinterest as she was picked off the cold floor, but rather immediately pushed herself to her mother and headbutted her neck affectionately
Alcina smiled, and with a reassuring squeeze of her youngest daughter’s back, she let her know of the love, care, protection and warmth she would always receive unconditionally, too
After this, life at the castle changed drastically, as did Alcina’s
Too little to walk, too little to stand, she was usually seen walking with three women attached to her
One, cradled in her left arm, the other in the right, and the third sat on top of her shoulders, as if a cat lounging on a window sill
She bathed them, and for the first few years would be the only to bathe them
Partly, this was to protect the staff from her daughters and their seemingly insatiable bloodlust, especially in their early years
Partly, it was merely protectiveness and possessiveness over her little ones
This was also made apparent in the way she kept them close at night
For the first few years, the three sisters slept in her bed, and eagerly so, tucked close like hatchlings sticking to their dragon mama. And right it was
One of the earliest activities done together was learning how to stand, walk and swarm
Cassandra, the stubborn little thing, was the first to succeed, swarming about happily and squealing while her sisters still stood like baby deers on their shaky legs
Still, Alcina praised each and every one of them for every little achievement they made
Whether this was standing, waddling to her occasionally, walking, or even swarming successfully
Then, there came hunting. A primal desire, but a necessary act her daughters seemed to enjoy a lot
Again, Cassandra picked up on catching her prey especially early on. Relying on strength she was gifted with, the brunette took down boars even in her first few years of her reborn life
Then, however, Alcina discovered it was Daniela who caught up quickly- quite literally
She realised, somewhat proud and dreadful at the same time, she had a runner
A quick little thing indeed, darting corners and scurrying along quickly the moment she mastered walking and swarming
Often, the tall, intimidating lady of castle Dimitrescu was seen chasing her youngest for all kinds of reasons, whether that be baths, mealtimes, bedtimes, or simply to catch her little runaway and prevent her from stumbling down some stairs
And while Bela certainly did not lack the quality to hunt with her sisters, Alcina noticed early on that her eldest took joy in other things
This way, she often sliced a deer the eldest was chasing, aware that she would be demotivated easily and was not as fast nor strong as her sisters
However, in the later years, Bela’s talent was discovered quickly: an academic one
For Bela was the one to learn to write, read and speak the quickest
Something Alcina has noticed and finds endearing to this very day, is that even back then her eldest copied her language, using phrases she heard her say and repeating them like a parrot
Funnily enough, this is where “man-thing” finds its origin; her eldest, repeating phrase after phrase like a parrot, catching this and that and mixing things here and there
So when Alcina one day complained about a man pathetic enough to attempt to sell her things, of course, her little parrot picked it up right away, lisping about what a “horrible man-thing” he was!
She decided she liked the phrase, and while Bela is unaware of what she has started to this day, she all too happily received the praise and head scratches she was showered in for her little slip up
In time, all three sisters are taught to read, write and express themselves properly. Enough so that Alcina encourages them to pick up more hobbies
And she was again there, supporting them though it all
She spent hours a day with bright little Bela on her lap, reading up on this and that, explaining hidden meanings to her daughter
Often, she’d keep her eldest with her at work, her presence soothing in difficult times, her curiosity refreshing
Then, of course, there was hunting with Cassandra. She always made sure to make extra time for this activity with her middle child
Afterwards, it was not uncommon for them to talk of weapons, another hobby and interest Alcina encouraged her to pursue
And lastly, her little Daniela, with her head up in the clouds, asking for Mother’s help with planting flowers and decorating the castle
She too encouraged her youngest in this, and smiles to this day when she enters rooms in the castle decorated by her bright girl
Of course, the library is among those, the room in which countless hours were spent reading and recreating fairytales
And the lords? Yes, they certainly knew a lot of the three fly-spawns
And still, Alcina saved it for a good century until they were allowed near. If only because it took her some good years to help them manage their bloodlust
The first Lord to meet them is Donna, the most trusted in Alcina’s eyes
The second, perhaps surprisingly, is Heisenberg
And while she lightly encouraged her darlings to tease and annoy him during his stay, to make his life a little more difficult, she found- to her greatest annoyance- that her two youngest absolutely loved the Lord, even as Bela stayed by her side to glare at the man-thing from across the room
Yet..she could not deny them the visits to the factory ever so often, even as they returned with sweaty dresses from hot steam and a strong smell of Lycans and metal
And why? Simply because they wore such precious smiles, talking for hours to no end about the newest soldiers and weapons crafted
Yes, her daughter’s smile whenever the factory was brought up was enough for her to tolerate the man-thing
And lastly, they were taken to a Lord’s meeting all at once, and only once, centuries after their rebirth
While Alcina talks about her daughters a lot, she prefers to keep them hidden away from the Lords and the meetings as much as she can

One question has been plaguing my late night thoughts about the Dimitrescu sisters, Bela and Daniela in particular.
Alcina left them when they were 7 and 5 respectively to nurture Cassandra's acting talent and they were left with Donna, but how "caring" was Donna? Did she play a role closer to a mother figure or was she always just an aunt to them? All three sisters to call her "aunt Donna" in game and neither Bela or Daniela show a special affection for Donna (especially Bela after Miranda's route). And what about Angie? She's family yeah, but was she raised alongside Daniela and Bela or were the two sisters always kinda on their own just living in the same house as Donna and Angie?
These girls and their actually quite terrible childhood have me in a chokehold and I need to dissect it further, but this piece of the puzzle makes it hard to make decisive statements right now. Donna and Angie's involvement could make a huge difference and I need clarifications.
We didn't put much interaction with the dimi sisters and donna in the game since we wanted donna to live up to resident recluse vibes, but daniela and her r close since daniela is closer to angie. daniela is almost always over at donna's place, chilling with her and angie, and when daniela was younger, she did call donna mom a few times. donna doesn't mind taking care of them as she adores them she's just not great with expressing it and is afraid of openly caring for others should she lose them. i would say angie and daniela r very close. they see each other as almost sisters even if they're only cousins, and it's that reason why they're rooming together. bela is more 'professional' with family relations and she has great respect for her aunt given she worked for her for a few years and donna took care of them without any complaint, but she only sees donna as an aunt. bela also doesn't really get along with angie due to their conflicting personalities, but she's grugdingly accepted her because she knows angie will be there to look after daniela if worst comes to worst.

Jack always holds Miranda when they sleep. Never the other way around. It's not that she doesn't like being held, hell, it feels nice when they watch a movie and Miranda pulls her between her legs, letting Jack's head rest against her chest. But when they sleep, Jack needs to know she has an escape route. An escape from what? The war is over, everything is as peaceful as it can be. Still, she finds herself unable to sleep if she's the one being held, feels like she's trapped somehow and if something, someone were to intrude, she wouldn't be able to escape.
Jack never thought she would have been big on cuddling. Usually everything that involved contact with another human being boiled down either to sex or fighting. But since Miranda, her whole view shifted. Especially when she learned how touch-starved the other biotic was. Not that Miranda admitted it. Jack noticed one night, after they were both drained and sweaty, the subtle shift in Miranda, the way she slightly drew closer to Jack, the way the tip of her fingers would graze a tattooed arm. Never fully reaching, never demanding but there was an underlying expectation.
So Jack did the only thing that came to mind and pulled Miranda in her arms, enveloping her like a warm blanket, head resting in the crook of the ex-convict's neck. It was awkward at first, neither used to such affections and Jack could feel how stiff Miranda had become, almost regretting her actions until Miranda relaxed and slowly resting her hand on Jack's hip. That's when she felt something wet on her neck. Instead of saying anything, she just held Miranda more firmly against her, curling around her protectively. It felt right, somehow.
Since then, Jack made a habit of holding Miranda, outside and inside of their shared bed. Because on that fateful night, she connected the dots. All Miranda knew before the Normandy, before Oriana, before Jack, was indifference. And Miranda being Miranda, she doesn't know how to ask for anything, not that Jack is any better. But it works, because they understand each other without words, with one glance, one touch. It's enough.
It becomes a second nature, to hold Miranda. Jack feels like she's a puzzle piece and Miranda is the other part. They fit so well it's disconcerting and if this had happened back on the Normandy, Jack would have pulled away in anger and confusion, pushing away her missing piece. But she had grown. They both had. And they let themselves be swept in the current of their newfound affections.
On particularly rough nights, when Jack wakes in terror, sweating and disoriented with nightmares of her past, her barriers crumble and only then does she feel safe enough to be held without the fear of being trapped with no escape. And fuck does it feel nice to have Miranda hold Jack against her, she's so soft, the softest thing Jack's ever touched. And one day, one day she hopes her chains break just enough to be able to let Miranda hold her whenever she wants. But for now, it's enough for both of them.

California & Me
Pairing: Cove Holden/Reader, Baxter Ward/Reader
Word Count: 2.4K
Tags: Angst, Unrequited Love
Summary: Cove, your best friend, sees you as more than just a friend. When a certain someone returns to Sunset Bird, how will he react? Inspired by California & Me by Laufey
A/N: I hope you enjoy! Sorry if it was too short, I wrote this in about an hour. I might edit this in the future, though.
When Cove first heard you'd be going out of state for college, he didn't know what to say. After all, this was the first time he'd heard you change your plan. It was rather spontaneous, especially considering your original idea was that you'd be remaining in California, continuing your studies and volunteering there.
When he saw the worry on your face waiting for his reaction, he felt a piece of his heart crack. Forcing on a smile and a "Congratulations!" he watched you let out a sigh of relief. He knew he couldn't make you stay; who was he to deny you of your dreams? Little did you know, the moment he went back to his home, he began crying. He didn't even bother to go to his bed, collapsing on the ground as soon as the front door closed.
You tried your best to hide it, but he knew deep down why you had decided to leave. Baxter Ward, your "suitor for the season," had left, his absence leaving a hole in your heart. You insisted that you were fine, but it was noticeable to everyone the way the light in your eyes disappeared, your smile following it. The memories were too much, the feeling of heartbreak raw in your chest.
He tried his best to be there for you, entering through your window even more frequently to check on your condition. He didn't even bother to try "sneaking in" anymore, your moms seeing his parked car in the driveway even though he was supposed to be at his new apartment.
He could only watch as the bags under your eyes got darker and darker, neglecting the need for sleep as you scrolled through all your old messages and photos. It was as if everywhere you’d look, you would still see the memories of Baxter there.
On the day of your big move, everyone who still lived there had gathered outside of your house: your parents, Mr. Holden, and Cove. This time, you would be the one leaving. First it was Derek, then Liz, then Terry and Miranda, and finally, you.
Cove had agreed to drive you to the airport, and your parents hadn’t protested driving in a separate car. They knew you both needed your space to say your farewells to each other.
As you both got inside, your luggages in the trunk, he felt the thickness of tension in the car. The only sound that could be heard was the familiar lapping of the tides fading and the sound of the road underneath as he drove farther away from Sunset Bird.
The two of you remained in silence for what felt like hours, neither speaking a word as he parked in the airport’s garage. He was thankful your parents had ushered you to leave early, allowing you more time to speak with each other before you had to check-in.
The sound of your sniffles is what caught him off guard, and as he turned to face you, he watched the tears pour from your eyes. Without a second to spare, you unbuckled your seatbelt and practically leapt across the car to pull him into a hug. The feeling of your face in his neck was something he was used to, but the way your tears dampened his shirt wasn't.
“I’m going to miss you so much. I wish I could take you with me.” Your words were muffled as you spoke into his shoulder, squeezing him tighter as if he was going to be the one leaving. At your words, he felt his own tears begin to follow, and he wrapped his arms around your torso.
Choking back a sob, he slowly rubbed his hand soothingly in circles around your back. “Hey, it’s never too late to open a pretzel stand.”
You let out a small laugh at his joke, and as you finally pulled away, you rubbed the tears from your eyes into your sleeves. Then, gently pulling him closer, you grabbed ahold of his face, wiping the tears from his cheeks. It was to no avail, the waterworks continuing to spill from both of you. This time, you both laughed.
The taste of salty tears reminded him of the ocean, and as he looked at you, all he could imagine was the sun. He didn't know how he would function without your warmth, your comforting hugs, and your caring heart. He didn't know how to function without you.
“I’m going to miss you, too,” he whispered. He didn’t know what else to say, but as you began to sob even harder, he felt his heart break.
“Cove, please tell me this isn’t a bad idea. I want to leave, but at the same time, I’m going to miss everyone so much.” You said, reaching out to hold his hand as you spoke.
He felt his throat tighten as he realized what you were asking: “Should I leave?”
He was right, it was never too late to stay. You could just unpack all of your things again and stay there with him. Maybe you could take college, get a job, and do whatever you wanted to do in Sunset Bird. He wouldn’t have to hold onto the memories he had with you. Instead, he could be making new ones with you at every single moment.
But as he looked for your reaction, he paused. You needed his support at that moment, so despite his selfish thoughts, he mustered enough energy to say, “You know what you want to do, so follow your dreams. After all, we’ll always be here. I will always be here.”
At his words, he watched the way you seemed to relax, letting out a small sigh of relief. “Thank you. That means a lot to me.”
He wondered what would’ve happened if he had told you to stay, to remain with him. Instead, all he could do was wipe his tears as you finally left the car, grabbed your luggages, and headed to check-in. Both your parents and Cove’s dad were already waiting for you, and for once, they didn’t seem to tease how red and puffy both your eyes were. With a final hug, he watched as you entered security, turning back one last time to wave goodbye.
You had promised to keep in contact as much as possible, and you did. You called each other at every possible moment: when you landed at the airport, when you started your first day at school, when you were offered your first job, and everything in between. He was always there for you; it was the least he could do since you were always there for him.
Of course, he'd try his best to see you in person too, but it was more difficult than he thought to travel all the way across the country. Who knew one of the tallest people you knew would be afraid of flying? He didn't either, until he looked down from the window 10,000 feet in the air. He'd chant the words "this will be worth it" to himself over and over again, gripping the sides of his chair tightly. In the end, it really was worth it.
The knots in his stomach would disappear at the sight of you waiting for him, looking down at your phone to check if he had landed yet. He stood still, waiting until your eyes met. He could never forget the way your frown shifted into a smile at just the sight of him, the way you practically leaped to greet him, and the familiar feeling of you in his arms as you pulled him into a tight hug.
So when he heard you'd be coming back to California for Jude and Scott's wedding, his heart leapt out of his chest. This would be your first time visiting your hometown in a while, your new job restricting you from coming over too much. He was more than upset when he realized he was busy and wouldn't be able to see you until the actual ceremony, but he was even more upset when he heard a familiar name fall from your lips.
“Baxter Ward.”
“Huh?” Cove said, confused. You had been silent for a few minutes, despite you being the one to call him.
“It’s… Baxter. Can you believe it?” You let out a breathy sigh, as if in disbelief.
“Baxter who?” He forced out a laugh, acting clueless, but deep down, he knew exactly who you were talking about.
How could he forget your first kiss, your first date, and your first partner? Cove was supposed to be your first, but no, Baxter took that opportunity from him. He was only supposed to be a fling, so how come after five years, he had come back?
“Liz used to describe him as an “emo Victorian man.” He’s Jude and Scott’s wedding planner. What a coincidence, don’t you think?” The sound of your laughter rang through his ears, and he struggled to understand.
He felt his mouth dry, not knowing how to respond. Oh, how he regretted taking all his vacation days to visit you. Otherwise, he would be there in a heartbeat to see whether or not you were telling the truth. He knew you had no reason to lie, but the thought of his reappearance made him begin to worry.
“Hello? Cove, is everything alright?”
The sound of your voice is what snapped him out of it. Desperately trying to come up with an excuse, he began to panic. “Yeah, I’m fine! Sorry, I just dropped Cove Junior’s food.”
“Oh, sorry for distracting you.” You mumbled, and he couldn’t help but feel guilty.
Forcing out an awkward laugh, he said, “It’s okay, really, but what about Baxter? Tell me more.” He knew it would hurt to hear it, but what else could he do?
As you spoke, he recognized your tone of voice. Retelling the events of your day, he noticed how you dreamily sighed, and although it wasn’t a video call, he could imagine the way your cheeks turned red with just the sound of his name. His final straw was the day of the wedding. When he saw your face, he was so happy to see you that he almost didn’t remember Baxter. Almost.
During the entire ceremony, he would only catch a couple of glimpses of him, as if he were entirely avoiding the two of you. He could see how hurt you were, but you continued to smile so as to not ruin Jude and Scott’s happy day. That was when his resolve snapped, and he excused himself from the table. You looked at him in curiosity but went back to talking with Terry and Miranda after he lied saying he needed to go to the restroom.
Looking around, he searched the room for a person wearing a purple suit. That’s when he finally saw him in all his glory, standing in the corner of the room watching the others party with a sad look on his face. Although Cove couldn’t say he liked him, he felt pity on the man. When Baxter finally turned his head and saw him, he put on a polite smile.
“Cove. It’s a pleasure to see you again,” he said, almost as if he had rehearsed it.
“Yeah, you too.” Awkwardly putting his hands in his pockets, he slightly rocked back and forth.
“Have you enjoyed the ceremony so far?”
Cove simply nodded, and as he finally got the courage to confront him, he took a deep breath. “We don’t have to do this, Baxter. I’m sure you know why I’m here.”
He looked taken aback by his bluntness but quickly attempted to regain his composure. “I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Perhaps you’ve misunderstood.”
“You know they’re in love with you.”
He didn’t even act surprised, just looking away with a guilty look on his face.
Cove continued with his statement, fighting back tears as his hands formed into fists. “They’ve always loved you, even after your disappearance. I don’t know if anybody has told you, but after you left, they were heartbroken. I had never seen them so hurt before.”
“I apologize, but there’s nothing I could’ve done for them.”
Cove could feel his temper start to boil, his eyebrows scrunching in frustration. “You could’ve been there for them, responding to their texts or calls.”
“We were both doing our own things. I was finishing my education and became a wedding planner, they were off in college becoming successful. It was… for the better.”
“For the better? After you left, they were a mess. I’m sure they haven’t told you, but the reason they went to school in New York was because they missed you so much they couldn’t bear to handle walking through Sunset Bird and the memories of you.” Cove was out of breath, and he realized he had raised his voice. Thankfully, no one was paying attention, continuing to party. Trying to calm down, he fidgeted with his hands. “Anyone could tell they like you. The way they look at you is the same way I look at them.”
Baxter's smile disappeared for a moment but he quickly put it back on, as if it were a mask. “To be quite honest, I’m a little surprised you’re the one telling me this. Even when I first arrived in Sunset Bird, I noticed your affinity for them. Why help me?”
Cove was trying his hardest to hold back on the waterworks, looking out the window to avoid his gaze. “They only see me as their best friend, nothing more. I’m not sure if they’ve ever noticed, but I do know one thing-they deserve to be happy. You make them happy, happier than I’ve ever seen them. So please, if they approach you at the party, at least listen to them.”
Baxter didn’t respond, and Cove quickly turned around, leaving him to his thoughts. He had a lot of regrets, but losing you was his biggest one. What if he had insisted you didn’t date him in the first place? What if he had insisted you stay in Sunset Bird? What if he had been the one to ask you out first?
When he finally watched you approach Baxter, kiss him, and return with a cheery smile on your face, he knew his answer. No matter how much Cove loved you, he would always lose to Baxter Ward.

slowly parsing through all my feelings and thoughts about the ending and it's like. silver can accuse flint of waging his war out of rage and because he has nothing to lose, but that doesn't necessarily make it true. in fact it's actually so wild how flint, ultimately, is one of the only characters who keeps hold up such an unflinching, stubborn, white-knuckled hope. that there can be a better world and that it is worth fighting for. it's the one thing, no matter how much silver has become (like) him that he never understood, neither from flint nor from madi, who is one if not the only other character this applies to as well, although it's obviously different for her.
and then just. how flint got it from thomas and miranda, the two people silver keeps comparing himself to while not getting that yes, their loss made flint the way he is, but their love and loving them made him who he is just as much. "I don't think he would want me to." and silver doesn't get it. he loves them both but he entirely fails to understand them. at his core he is still selfish, it just means that now, it manifests in not wanting to lose them - madi especially - to this war, and so he will betray her/them if that means he doesn't have to see her/them dead (it's obviously a bit more complicated with flint, but even if he did kill him, he would probably twist it in his head as a kind of 'saving,' babygirl be delustional enough). he got so much from flint, except for the most important part, the one thing that kept flint afloat for all this time. something something hope is an action, it's bruised knuckles and bared teeth and keeping going despite despite despite. god.

“That's all, I guess,” you sighed after your last trip to the estate, one from which you would never return.
Those cracked walls, that humid and floral essence that made up the old mansion were not simply a place to visit. It was finally your home.
Of course, a mansion was much better than the humble cabin you had in the village.
You were always a happy, cheerful girl, one who saw the good side of things, the light in the middle of so much darkness. It might seem very daring to smile at the life that had been offered to you, but still, you did it.
The Cult, the Black Gods, Mother Miranda, the Lords... Everything that surrounded you seemed enough reason to bow your head and pray for, every night that you closed your eyes, you would still be able to open them again.
Fear, submission and faith were things you lived with, that you ignored as much as possible so your smile would never disappear. Neither the lycans, nor all the sermons, nor the rumors surrounding those divine authorities scared you.
In that village there was no bogeyman, no deceiving witch, no terrible wolf with an insatiable appetite. No, the fear with which mothers cradled their children didn’t come from legends, the danger was real. But… did you care? Not at all.
Living alone in that dark world seemed terrible, but actually, it wasn't.
But your days of solitude, your humble and quiet life in that old cabin would not last forever.
As if you were the pagan mockery of the Gods, you made your way through that dark corridor, into that blind spot that people refused to look at. The Lords seemed like monsters, but deep down, they were people.
That almost utopian thought with which your eyes turned to those dangerous figures could have cost your life, but it didn't.
Among all those mysterious beings, there was one in particular that had caught your attention: A woman who was said to be deformed, sick, dangerous, disturbed, the youngest of the Four Lords, the woman in mourning, covered with a black veil, Donna Beneviento.
It didn't matter how many times you had heard absurd things about that woman, about what she was capable of. Curiosity overcame the irrational fear of the unknown.
Convinced that things weren't so dire, that those rumors were an exaggeration, you decided to put your own optimism to the test, to put the joy of living you had to deal with every day to the test.
Meeting that lonely woman was a risky step, knowing that, indeed, the rumors were true but bordered on legend, was the best decision of your life. Selling your handmade clay works, you got a glimpse of the mystery surrounding that woman in black.
You weren't particularly good at making and painting vases, but to her, it seemed like art. Maybe it was just because the clay resembled the porcelain she worked with.
What seemed like an innocent first visit, led to many more, led to continuous commissions from the lady in black. It could be a boost to your humble business but... You never saw it that way, especially when, after a rainy afternoon, you stopped being a saleswoman to become a guest.
A quiet dinner, an unknown kindness… Donna was strange, yes, a few words woman, with a hoarse voice, a stoic pose. As time went by, the rain and the inclement weather stopped being excuses for you to spend time with her.
Like a story marinated over time, cooked slowly with patience and curiosity, you came to understand that the joy that characterized you only came to light when Lady Beneviento was near.
Sad in her solitude, happy in your company.
It seemed like a difficult phrase to decipher until, after seeing the horror that the veil claimed to contain, you gave a name to your feelings. Yes, you loved her. She was the most beautiful woman in the world.
Nothing, not her scar, not her problems were reasons to come back home that night, the night in which your lips finally met.
It was an unexpected love, a welcome one, a love you would never regret, one you would enjoy day after day until, after her constant insistence, you decided to take that last step and move in with her.
Her little pleas, her fear of losing you, her crises… Everything would be much better with you always by her side. You couldn't say why it took you so long to accept that house, with that woman, even with that sinister and rude doll, was the place you wanted to be.
“Is that all?” the lady asked, nervously playing with her hands while you looked around at that pile of stuff you brought from your old cabin.
You looked at her and nodded with a smile, walking slowly to calm her nerves with a small kiss.
“Well, I was missing, but here I’m,” you whispered affectionately, losing yourself in the brightness of that beautiful eye, of those features that only you had the privilege of admiring.
“So... I won't have to wait to see you through the window anymore?” Donna asked, gently grabbing your waist while you shook your head.
“No,” you said amused, panting when, with a grip typical of romantic novels, the lady bent you over, held by her grip while she kissed you again, in a way that you could only see in her movies. “Hey... Donna...”
She laughed after kissing and again, and again. That woman with a hidden smile, who never laughed, who didn't feel, who had no heart according to her legend, seemed happier than ever.
“I'm so happy, tesoro...” she murmured, helping you to get up, playing with your hands affectionately. “I can't believe you're here…”
“Well, well,” you laughed, fighting those quick kisses with which your face was adored. “Anyway, it was like I lived here.”
“But you always left… You always left me…” she lamented, caressing your cheek.
The sparkle in her eye was erratic. She could transmit happiness, but also madness, sadness and fear at the same. Luckily, you had already gotten used to it.
You shook your head, sighing as you heard her verbalize her greatest fears again; the fear of you abandoning her, of being alone again.
Only your smile was enough to calm her nerves, just one look, one to which the two of you had become hopelessly addicted.
“Ahhhhhhh!” an irritating squeal took you out of that romantic moment.
It shouldn't have surprised you. Donna and you weren't the only inhabitants of that place. Always by Donna's side, always ready to remind you of your simple village status, there was Angie.
“Angie, per favore… Don't squeal…” the lady whispered, annoyed by the interruption.
You shook your head, downplaying it, pulling her chin so your lips would collide again.
“Donna, Donna!” the doll shouted, ignoring her owner, running towards you and pulling her dress hard. “Donna, you fool, stop mixing fluids with (Y/N) and listen to me!”
“Oh, Angie, che vuoi?” Donna said, with a look of disgust, causing the puppet to let her dress go.
“Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo monster…” the doll stammered, pointing towards your stuff. “Monster!”
“Monster?” you asked amused, looking where the puppet had pointed. Oh, yes, surely for Angie it would be a monster. “Oh, that's right…”
You separated painfully from your lover, walking slowly towards your luggage and taking the box the doll indicated.
“Don't bring it near here!” Angie protested, taking refuge behind her owner, who looked at you with curiosity. “Donna, a monster…”
“It's not a monster,” you said, with a firm voice, opening the small gate of the box and taking out its contents.
“Don't take it out of there, silly!” the puppet shrieked again, causing a sigh of annoyance from the doll maker, who seemed to look at you perplexed.
“Why?” you asked amused, cradling your pet in your arms. “It's such a cutie…”
Oh, that's right. You forgot to mention to the lady in black that you didn't live completely alone. On one of your days out, you found what would become your faithful companion, a cat, one with black fur and bright eyes.
“(Y/N)? What is that?” Donna asked with a frown, looking at the feline suspiciously.
You, with the animal still in your arms, smiled, moving his paw in greeting.
“A cat,” you said amused. Donna was confused, gently shaking her head. “My cat.”
“Your cat? Since when do you have a cat?” the lady asked, stepping back, with Angie cowardly taking refuge behind her dress.
“Oh, for a couple of years now,” you explained, extending the animal's paw towards her again. “Meet Bubbles.”
“Bubbles,” she repeated, with a confused sigh.
You nodded, proud of your cat, of its black fur, of the company it offered to your strange life.
“Yeah, I found him in the river. The poor thing was frozen to death. I rescued him and well...” you said, petting the animal, who purred peacefully in your arms.
“Get that furry thing out of my sight, silly!” Angie shouted, comically poking her head out.
You put on a haughty look, hugging the animal closer while shaking your head.
“Oh, come on, are you scared of a kitten?” you joked, putting it down on the floor.
“I'm not scared!” Angie shouted, following the curious animal with her gaze.
“Um, (Y/N)...” Donna said, in a low tone, approaching again but trying to surround the cat instead of interrupting its exploration. “You didn't tell me you had a cat.”
“Didn’t I? I think I really did,” you said, blinking in confusion. “Don't you listen to me when I talk to you, darling?” you joked.
Donna smiled shyly, not finding the right words.
“Yes, I... You're just so beautiful...” she sighed, biting her lip and running a soft hand over your neck. “Sometimes I get lost in your gaze.”
“Donna...” you murmured, laughing amused by the compliment, by her eternal flattery. “Hey, there's no problem, right?”
Donna moved away a little, glancing sideways at the cat, which also seemed attentive to the conversation.
“No, but...” she whispered, scratching the back of her neck. “(Y/N), I... I wasn't expecting a cat.”
“Relax, it's a good boy,” you said, with an innocent look.
The lady laughed nervously, shaking her head.
“Good? He’s a scratching and biting machine! He can’t stay here!” Angie protested, running away from the animal, which seemed to have caught a curious interest in the doll, who fled cowardly.
“You’re a biting and scratching machine too, and here you are,” you said in a cocky tone, crossing your arms.
“I’m the Great Angie, silly,” said the doll, comically running away from Bubbles. “I live here, not like that furry thing.”
“The Great Angie…” you muttered, rolling your eyes, seeing how Donna seemed to think the same as her doll, looking at your cat distrustfully. “Come on, it’s just a cat.”
“A cat…” Donna sighed, blinking erratically. “(Y/N) I don’t know if it’s a good idea.”
“Why not? He keeps a lot of company,” you said, a little worried about the lady’s reaction.
“Yes, but…” Donna said, tilting her head towards the animal, which comically, like in a comedy movie, did the same. “What if he scratches the furniture?”
“He won't,” you answered immediately, starting to get nervous.
“Oh, okay but…” she murmured, stopping looking at the animal and getting closer to you. “My, my dolls, (Y/N), he might, might ruin them.”
“Yes, and that includes me!” Angie added, without taking her eyes off your furry companion.
“If you don't want him to live with us, say it clearly, Donna,” you said, with a cold look.
“It's not that, it's just…” she said, breathing heavily, walking towards you, putting her legs over the cat and grabbing your shoulders. “He could, he could stay on the grounds and then he'd have… Freedom to… Well, to do cat stuff.”
“No, I'm not leaving him,” you denied, with a more intense look. “He's my friend.”
“Your friend…” Donna snorted, turning her head back to the cat, which was walking elegantly around you. “Tesoro, I…”
“He was so alone…” you said, pouting. “You can't ask me to leave him…”
“I didn't say that,” the lady said, frowning.
Okay, plan B.
“Please, Donna…” you said in a sweet voice, bringing your hands together and making puppy dog eyes as you leaned towards her. “Let him stay… Please…”
“Don't get fooled, Donna! She's a manipulator!” Angie squealed, eliciting a subtle growl from you, who never lost that innocent look.
“Please, please…” you insisted, gracefully moving your lower lip, your eyes shining.
“Oh, Io…” she stammered, looking at you and then at the cat repeatedly. “But, but…”
You tilted your head, emphasizing your pout.
“Va bene…” she finally sighed, causing you to throw yourself into her arms with a dazzling smile, covering her cheek with kisses.
“Mmm, thank you, thank you, thank you,” you said as you jumped for joy, picking up your pet from the floor. “Did you hear that, Bubbles? You can stay.”
“But, but…” Donna interrupted, putting a hand on your chest to get you to move away. “You’ll be the one to take care of him.”
“Sure,” you said, nodding, kissing the cat’s head, which purred pleased. “Say hello, Bubbles… Say hello, Donna… Come on, pet him.”
“Um, I…” the lady stammered, slowly bringing her hand closer to the animal, a trembling hand that passed through the cat's black fur. He meowed surprisingly, causing the lady to back away in fear.
“Oh, don't be scared,” you said amused. “He’s an adorable ball of fur, you'll see.”
“If, if you say so…” she murmured, playing with her hands, with a confused look.
“Donna, you silly…” Angie hissed, tugging at her dress again. “He's an evil beast. He's going to bring us a lot of trouble.”
“You are an evil beast,” you said, amused, placing some of your stuff away while owner and doll watched the movements of the cat, which sniffed around curiously. “Honey, help me with this.”
Donna approached cautiously, helping you move your delicate clay bowls. “Do you think there will be room for everything?”
“Yes,” she answered dryly, without losing sight of the animal, which climbed onto the small table where Donna sewed from time to time, looking with interest at one of the wool balls.
“Stop worrying...” you sighed, cupping her face in your hands. “He won't give you any trouble.”
“Hey, you furry burglar!” Angie shrieked, causing a loud scandal when Bubbles grabbed one of the balls in his jaws, fleeing in terror, leaving a trail of yellow thread around the house.
Donna looked at you with a frown while you blushed.
“Um, I'll buy you another one…” you said shyly, scratching your head.
“You mean I'll buy another one,” she said in a low voice, sighing annoyed.
You shrugged your shoulders with the best weapon you had, your innocent smile.
The lady in black reluctantly agreed to live with Bubbles, although she wasn’t able to hide her dissatisfaction. You were not going to get rid of your companion, that was clear. You would have to work very hard for Donna to adapt to this new member of the family.
The days passed calmly, well, relatively calmly. The doll maker was tense, she wasn’t comfortable with the intruder. She always watched him from afar. She didn’t approach him despite the fact that, since you rescued him, he didn’t stop following you everywhere, day and night.
“Donna, please…” you begged one night already tucked into bed, while the brunette was quietly reading, or rather, pretending to read.
“No,” she replied with a sigh, with a cold look.
“He misses me,” you repeated, using your best acting skills.
The days were simple. The house was big and it wasn't hard for the lady in black to avoid contact with the cat, but… The nights, oh, the nights were very different.
The agonizing meows of poor Bubbles echoed off the walls of the mansion despite being in the basement. You, like every night, begged your girlfriend to let you take him down with you.
“I said no,” Donna hissed, frowning every time the cat meowed desperately. “Oh, taci… Taci!”
“He meows because he wants to be here with us,” you explained, pointing at the ceiling. “He was used to sleeping with me.”
“Well, he'll have to get used to not doing that,” Donna murmured, turning a page of that book she wasn't reading.
“But Donna…” you said with a sad look. “I promise he won't bother us, just…”
“No,” she insisted, shaking her head. “He can meow all night long if he wants.”
“You're… Ugh,” you protested, waving your arms exaggeratedly. The lady in black didn't flinch at your gestures, blinking disinterestedly. “You're a grumpy witch.”
“What did you call me?” she hissed, with a dangerous look.
“Grumpy witch,” you repeated cockily, looking at your nails with disinterest. “Aren't you a powerful Lord? I can't believe you're scared of a cat…”
“I'm not scared of the cat,” Donna protested, putting the book on her lap, gritting her teeth.
“Please…” you said amused. “You haven't been near him in two weeks. He scares you, admit it.”
“Okay, yes, he scares me,” she said, shaking her head. “I'm scared because he'll destroy my dolls, and my house.”
“Our house,” you joked, with a raised finger. “And he doesn't do that, you've already know.”
“Mm, yes, I've seen how, mysteriously, all my wool balls have disappeared, and how curious, that thing always seems to be present at the crime scene,” the lady in black commented, with a proud look.
“Oh, you're such a great detective,” you mocked, running a hand over her shoulders and kissing her cheek. “It must be very stressful for him to be in a new place, you have to understand.”
“No, it's not stressful for him, it's stressful for me,” she said, gently pushing you away. “Shut up once and for all!”
“Shhh, don't yell,” you protested. “He would shut up if you let him down.”
“No,” she said again, with a dark look.
You shrugged and lay down on the bed.
“Fine, enjoy the concert then,” you said angrily, covering yourself with the sheets.
Donna sighed, getting a little closer to you and resting her head on your shoulder.
“I think we could do something to distract ourselves,” she purred in your ear, kissing your neck. You tried not to smile at that seductive display of affection, but you couldn't help it.
“Mm, what are you thinking?” you said, with a mischievous smile, letting the lady lay you down on your back while kissing you.
“I don't know...” she whispered with a mischievous smile.
“Meow”
“Ah!” Donna squealed, when a too close meow interrupted what seemed like a night of passion.
Bubbles appeared on the floor of the room, sitting, looking at you with curiosity.
“Bubbles!” you shouted, a bit scared too. “But what are you doing here?”
“I let him go down!” Angie said, entering the room too, with her hands on her hips. “He wouldn't stop meowing!”
“Angie…” Donna protested, moving away from you and looking at the cat with distrust.
“I can’t sleep with that evil beast next to me!” the doll protested.
“Were you sleeping?” you asked, stroking the cat, who had climbed onto the bed, satisfied, rubbing himself on your body. “Are you even aware of being sleepy?”
“You don't have a brain and you’re alive, so don't ask stupid questions,” Angie mocked, with a cocky pose.
“No, no, get down,” Donna said, pushing the animal, who, apparently, wanted to greet her too. “Down, down.”
“See? He just wants some company,” you said, watching how, despite Donna's rejection, the animal insisted, climbing onto the bed again and again.
“Angie…” she sighed when the puppet also climbed onto the bed, settling into her favorite spot, between you two. “Go away, and take that furry thing with you.”
“No! If he stays, so do I,” the doll said, pushing you. “Get away, silly.”
You laughed in amusement, shaking your head.
“Well, it looks like we have company tonight,” you commented, letting your pet lay down net to you.
Donna groaned and turned around.
“Just tonight, you hear me?” she hissed, turning off the light.
“Yes, yes…” you said amused, closing your eyes.
Of course, that warning didn’t come to pass.
The days passed and the nights stopped being little, solitary moments just for Donna and you, well, almost all of them.
It seemed that the lady in black was slowly adapting to the animal, but a show of affection on her part was still just a fantasy.
One afternoon, you and Donna were reading quietly. Your body on hers lovingly, her breathing calm, everything was perfect. The lady in black turned the pages while caressing your hair, giving you soft kisses from time to time, kisses followed by tender giggles, sincere smiles.
But, also from time to time, the lady looked up, observing Bubbles, who sat in front of you, looking at you with curiosity, almost without moving. Donna looked at him briefly and went back to her reading, moving uncomfortably.
That gesture was repeated several times, which made you have to hold back your laughter.
“Your cat won't stop looking at me,” Donna whispered, frowning, watching the animal over her book.
“He probably finds you curious,” you said, leaning a little closer to her. “Don't pay attention to him.”
“Curious?” she asked, turning the page while you shook your head.
“Hey, I wasn't finished yet,” you protested, returning the book to its previous page. “Are you actually reading?”
“It's hard for me to read with those eyes piercing through my soul,” she commented, with a serious voice, looking at the animal whenever she could.
“Donna...” you sighed, kissing her cheek, a gesture that finally managed to get a tender smile from the lady in black. “You know I love you, right?”
“Not as much as I do,” she whispered with a sweet voice, emphasized by her subtle accent, one that you adored. “Ti amo così tanto…”
“Mm,” you purred amused, rubbing your head on her shoulder with a tender smile, closing your eyes. “You have to teach me to speak Italian…”
“Mm?” she murmured, curious, running her free hand over your body, bringing you a little closer to her. “Do you want to learn?”
“Yes, I would really like to be able to say those beautiful words you say,” you whispered, sighing relaxedly. Donna looked at you and nodded, kissing you briefly on the lips.
“A language is neither pretty nor ugly, (Y/N). The important thing about words is the feelings with which you say them,” she commented, sighing too, without looking at you, with her eye fixed on the book.
“Oh, is that the first lesson?” you asked amused, biting your lip.
Donna nodded slowly, looking up, and startled.
“Hey, where did he go?” she asked in a different tone, sitting up.
“Who?” you asked, annoyed due to the lack of contact.
“Your, your cat, where is he? He was here just a moment ago,” the lady said, looking around.
“Leave him alone, he must have gotten bored of watching us read,” you said in a calm voice, burying yourself in her chest again.
“Mm,” she murmured, changing the calmness of her face to a tense one, with her one eye half-closed.
“Hey, get down from there!” Angie's screams interrupted that peaceful calm, that romantic moment.
The two of you looked at the source of them.
Apparently, Bubbles felt like doing some climbing, and had gone up onto one of the cupboards in the living room, walking dangerously among some of Donna's dolls.
“Cazzo…” the lady growled, closing the book and approaching the cupboard. “Come down from there!”
You stood up a bit worried. Bubbles was certainly not the most agile cat in the world.
“Bubbles,” you said, approaching slowly. “Come down, come on,” you ordered the animal, pointing to the floor.
The cat, as if he wanted to make fun of you, meowed, licking one of his paws and continuing on his way.
“Oh, no…” Donna said, running towards the furniture when that furry body dangerously passed by one of the dolls, causing it to fall.
The brunette picked it up before it crashed to the floor and, after that, many others fell.
With almost impossible juggling, the lady in black picked up each of those four dolls, having to throw herself to the floor to pick up the last one.
You and Angie looked at each other briefly at Donna's funny moves and nodded, starting to clap.
“Bravo, Donna,” you said amused, under the intense gaze of the brunette, who played with the dolls in her arms.
“That was spectacular, Don,” Angie joked, clapping at the same time as you, in a comical way.
The lady growled, but before she could protest and get up from the floor, a furry ball landed on her stomach, making her protest.
“Ow!”
Bubbles, proud of his actions, rubbed his body against the brunette's face before leaving her body.
“Gatto…” she hissed, rubbing the spot where your pet landed while you, holding back your laughter, extended a hand to help her up.
“Are you okay, sweetie?” you asked amused, helping her put her dolls away from the cat claws that surrounded them.
“I'll be fine when that… Thing…” she mumbled, alternating unpleasant murmurs with what were surely insults in Italian.
“Well, there are no victims,” you commented amused, placing a hat on one of the dolls while the lady shook her dress.
“Teach that creature some manners!” Angie protested, pointing at the cat, which was once again looking at you with curiosity. “He almost killed my friends.”
“How dramatic,” you mocked, helping the brunette regain her composure. “I'm sorry, Donna.”
“You're sorry…” she growled. “Angie is right. You should train your pet better.”
“It's a cat, I can't stop him from wanting to climb on things,” you said, glancing sideways at the animal that seemed to starting to harass Angie.
“Donna!” the doll squealed, fleeing from his timid claws. “I'm not a toy!”
“Bubbles…” you sighed, rubbing your eyes as the cat chased the doll. “Come on, be a good cat.”
Your words, which normally had no effect, seemed to stop the animal, who meowed playfully, moving away from you when the doll, tired of being chased, distracted it with one of the wool balls, his favorite toy.
“Donna, are you okay?” you asked, placing a hand on the brunette's shoulder, who seemed to be putting the clothes on those dolls. She nodded reluctantly as you pulled her towards you.
“That cat... He's going to give me a lot of trouble,” she whispered, letting herself be comforted by your caresses.
“He still has to adapt,” you defended him. “It's not easy for him.”
“You've spoiled him, that creature needs rules,” the lady snapped, moving away from you a little so your charms wouldn't dazzle her again.
“Oh, come on…” you sighed, rolling your eyes.
“My sister's cat had better manners,” she explained, crossing her arms.
“Did your sister have a cat?” you asked curiously.
Donna nodded with a frown.
“Yes,” the lady answered dryly.
You knew you couldn't insist, that her family was a dangerous subject, but you couldn't help it.
“I'm sure she spoiled it too, am I wrong?” you said with a haughty tone.
“It was on the grounds, we never let it to enter the house, my father didn't allow it,” Donna said, shaking her head. “It's where cats have to be.”
“What nonsense,” you said a bit annoyed.”-I'm sure your sister wanted it to be with her, didn't she?”
“That doesn't matter, the rules are the rules,” she said, with a tone that was darkening little by little.
“Yes, of course,” you sighed angrily, crossing your arms.
The lady didn't answer, as if she had suddenly remembered something, as if she had realized who she was talking about without meaning to. Her hand began to tremble and her eye opened as she blinked nervously.
“Oh, Donna... Donna...” you said in a different tone, observing the brunette's reaction, the trembling of her body and the erratic movements of her head. A condition that, unfortunately, you already knew. “Hey, Donna, my love...”
“Claudia!” she shrieked, furious, squeezing her head between her hands, shaking it effusively. “Claudia! È colpa mia!”
“No, no, no, no, darling, calm down...” you said nervously, putting a hand on her shoulders to reassure her, something that didn't work, as she pushed them away abruptly, kicking furiously.
“Claudia, perdonami, sorella!” Donna shrieked again, completely losing control, pulling at her hair as she growled angrily. “Claudia, tesoro!”
“Donna, no, no, hey, don't do that, stop, my love…” you said hastily, fighting against her grip. “It's okay, my love, I'm with you, it wasn't your fault.”
“Chiudi il becco!” she shouted, pushing you away furiously, with one eye shining with the madness of her soul. “È colpa mia! Mia!”
“No, darling, it's not true, it was an accident, remember?” you said in a soft voice, unable to handle that crisis.
“Look what you've done, stupid! Donna's nervous again!” Angie protested, helping you calm her owner's madness, something impossible.
“No, no, lasciami! Lasciami stare!” the lady shrieked, slowly lowering herself to the floor, crawling along it as if she was running away from something, from her own demons.
“Donna,” you said, also lowering to the floor and putting a hand on the wall so Donna wouldn't hit her head against it. “Shhh, darling, please come to your senses. Donna, my love… I'm here with you.”
“Sono una stupida… Stupida!” The mad lady kicked while the cat, apparently unaffected by the screams, approached her.
“Shit… Bubbles, not now…” you said fearfully watching how the animal approached the lady, looking at her curiously. “Go, please…”
The animal didn’t listen. He simply walked elegantly towards Donna, climbing up her body, purring strangely.
“Bubbles…”you said with a nervous look, watching as he settled on her chest with a soft meow, rubbing against her face.
Donna stood still, breathing heavily, but making no effort to push the animal away, in fact, her hand moved to the black fur, caressing it with a trembling hand.
Her breathing miraculously calmed as her hand ran along the animal’s back, which seemed not to want to leave her, rubbing affectionately against her, soothing her tormented soul.
“Wow…”you sighed, watching as Donna’s gaze stopped being erratic, as her eye returned to its usual shine.
The cat purred triumphantly, briefly licking the brunette’s face before climbing down from her body with a discreet meow.
“(Y/N)… What?” the doll maker stammered, blinking in confusion. “Gods…”
“Oh, Donna, my love… How are you feeling?” you asked, ignoring Bubbles and grabbing your girlfriend's face, looking for possible wounds or scratches.
“F-Fine, I think,” she murmured, blinking nervously and turning her head towards the cat who, with a graceful movement, climbed onto the couch to take a well-deserved nap.
“Okay, up,” you said, helping her up and running a hand over her forehead. “You're soaked, honey… I'll prepare a hot bath for you, would you like it?”
She nodded, her gaze fixed on the cat, who was licking himself disinterestedly.
Well, crisis over. You didn't expect Bubbles' help, of course, but apparently, it was one of the reasons that made the lady regain her sanity, something admirable, of course.
After the hot bath, it was time to make dinner. Donna hummed quietly in the kitchen while you, having nothing better to do, kept her company.
“You look fine,” you commented, leaning on the wooden counter. She smiled tenderly, stirring something in a small pot.
“Yes, I'm much better, thank you, (Y/N),” she whispered gratefully, focused on the kitchen, as always.
“What are you cooking?” you asked, hugging her around the waist.
Donna, after kissing you quickly, pointed with her head to a bowl with a salad.
“Do you fancy some?” she asked in a low voice. You nodded curiously, looking again at that small pot.
“Yes, of course,” you said, pointing to its contents. “Boiled chicken?”
“Yes,” Donna replied, turning off the gas.
“Well, I prefer grilled chicken for salads,” you commented, scratching the back of your neck.
Donna laughed, shaking her head.
“It's not for us, tesoro,” the lady said, picking up a clay bowl, one you already knew, one with a name engraved on it. “It's for Bubbles.”
“For Bubbles?” you asked suspiciously.
“Yes,” Donna said, nodding slightly.
“Oh...” you murmured. “Wow, it's the first time you call him by his name and not a furry thing, or a vermin, or a scratch-everything monster or...”
“I admit that I have to thank him, he's helped me a lot,” she said, sighing. “You know, before, when... I lost, I lost my temper.”
You nodded with a smile as she prepared that delicious reward lunch.
“Honestly, I didn't know he was good at it,” you commented, tilting your head.
“Me neither,” she whispered, winking at you. “But hey, I think he deserves a reward. Will you help me?”
You nodded a bit confused, but you obeyed.
“Kitty?” Donna asked with a radiant smile, looking for the feline around the house and showing the bowl with his food. “Look what I have for you.”
“Bubbles?” you called him, something that wasn't necessary, because, as soon as he heard Donna's voice, he walked quickly towards her.
“That's it... Good cat...” the lady said, bending down to run a hand over his head, something the animal thanked with a meow while purring, looking at the bowl curiously. “Do you like chicken, little one?”
“Oh, sure,” you said amused, putting your plates on the table. “He likes anything.”
The cat rubbed itself on your lover's legs while she, laughing shyly, approached you, closely followed by the hungry Bubbles, who licked his lips with pleasure.
“That's it... Good kitty, I hope you eat it all, huh?” Donna said affectionately.
You frowned and looked at Angie, who shrugged with a gesture of disgust.
“Damn manipulative beast...” the doll whispered. “Look at that…”
You obeyed, watching the affection your pet gave to the lady in black as she served him his reward, one that he gladly accepted, of course.
“Donna,” you said, drawing the attention of the brunette, who looked at the black cat with curiosity. “Are you coming to dinner or should I serve you another bowl?” you joked.
She stood up nodding, smiling at the cat and sitting in her chair.
“Is that chicken?” Angie asked, pointing at the feeder. Donna and you looked at each other and nodded. “How lucky, Your Majesty! Hey, Donna, Donna, you've never done anything like that to me!” the puppet protested, tugging at her owner's black dress.
“You don't have a stomach,” Donna murmured, elegantly serving you a glass of wine.
“No, well… But, but I've helped you more times than that furball,” the doll defended herself, looking up and down at the feline, who was licking his delicious food, looking at Angie with curiosity.
“Don't be jealous,” you joked, of course, causing an annoyed gasp from the puppet, who protested by kicking the floor.
“Jealous? Donna, I think we need to talk,” Angie said, crossing her arms while Bubbles sniffed her. “Hey, get away! Get away!”
The cat meowed curiously, licking Angie briefly, something that calmed her protests.
“Did you see that?” the doll asked. Donna smiled and looked at her, nodding. “It's adorable!”
“Wow, your mind changes quickly,” you teased, continuing with your dinner as the puppet cautiously ran a wooden hand over the cat, who rubbed himself against her, causing Angie to fall comically.
“Oh…” Angie moaned, getting up and wrapping her arms around the cat, something the animal didn't protest about, but instead meowed happily. “He loves me too.”
That was a turning point.
Miraculously, everything changed after that horrible crisis. You couldn't say why, whether it was because of Bubbles' loving altruism, or because Donna had already gotten used to his presence, but... Everything seemed different.
The lady in black seemed much less bothered by the black cat, in fact, she no longer protested every time he got on the couch, or every time he approached her to play.
You even started to get a little jealous. Yes, he was your cat, but mysteriously, he increasingly preferred the company of the lady in black, even Angie’s. It didn't bother you at all, although many times those hands that caressed you stopped doing so, moving on to your pet's black fur.
Well, of course your love continued to burn as always, only that, in addition to an irreverent doll, in your routine, there was always Bubbles, eager to receive Donna's displays of affection, as well as her delicious special meals.
You couldn't compete with a boiled chicken or desalted tuna, you just couldn't.
“Bubbles...” you said, one morning, spending your time with clay while Donna was working on her dolls in the basement.
Everything seemed normal but... There was something strange in the house, or rather, there wasn't something.
Bubbles, although dazzled by Donna, was still your faithful companion, one who stayed by your side while you worked. That day you couldn't find him and you started to worry.
“Where are you?” you asked, getting up from the lathe and looking under the chairs. Nothing, no sign of the cat. Your gaze went to the doll, which seemed distracted, wandering around the house like she always do. “Angie...”
You growled nervously.
Yes, the puppet had also gotten used to the cat, but it was a terribly jealous doll, she cared day after day to prove it to you, to remind you that you had "stolen her Donna."
She had no reason to hurt the animal, in fact you thought she had already gotten used to its presence but, deep down, you feared she had carelessly (or on purpose) let it out of the mansion.
“What do you want, silly?” the doll asked, annoyed by your interruption.
“Where is Bubbles?” you asked, crossing your arms and stamping your feet impatiently.
“Do I look like a zoo keeper? I don't know where he is,” Angie said, with the same cocky gesture as you.
“Ugh…” you protested, walking through the house. Nothing, no sign of the cat, again.
Scared that it had escaped, you started to get nervous, walking quickly towards the elevator.
“Donna, Donna,” you said hurriedly, opening the doors of the workshop.
The lady turned around a bit surprised, bringing a finger to her lips.
“Shh,” she hissed at you, making you roll your eyes.
“Hey, I know you don't like me disturbing you but…” you said in a calmer voice, walking towards her. “I can't find Bubbles. I don't know if that evil doll has something to do with it but…”
Your words faded away when the lady in black turned more, showing you a black lump that camouflaged itself with her dress. Bubbles, that traitor cat, slept peacefully on her lap, something he didn't do even with you.
“Oh, I don't believe it…” you sighed in disbelief, being reprimanded again by a brusque gesture from the lady.
“Hey, lower your voice, tesoro, you're going to wake him up…” she whispered, running her hand over the cat's head, who purred at the contact.
You blinked several times and shook your head.
“I can't believe it,” you murmured with a surprised expression. “I thought Bubbles was totally forbidden to come down here.”
“Well…” she whispered, smiling at the animal with a tender look. “He's insistent…”
“Yes, and a treacherous manipulator too,” you joked, petting him.
Donna laughed, shaking her head and showing you what she was working on.
“Look, tesoro, I'm making a little bed for him,” the lady said, proudly. “We can put it in the bedroom, what do you think?”
“What do I think?” you asked amused, bending down to kiss her cheek. “I think I love you, Donna.”
Well, at least Bubbles was now a member of the family, an important one for all of you.

I have an Alcina x reader request if I may!
Alcina has been super busy with work and has practically ignored reader. Reader has tried to get Alci's attention but it hasn't worked, so when some event at the castle happens where the lords and villagers gather, reader makes Alcina jealous on purpose and flirts with a villager. I'll leave the villagers fate in your hands but jealous sex happens afterwards and then maybe some fluffiness where Alcina realizes she's ignored reader and apologizes?
Love your fics so much!!

A/n: thank you!I hope you enjoy! I do apologies for posting this late💞💞
Tumblr media
You've been trying to get alcinas attention all day. No matter what you did or said she didn't even bother to look at you, and if she did it would be a quick glance before she returned her gaze to what she was doing previously. You had finished your work out session in the gym and had decided to to try again. You dropped your gym bag and knocked on her study door. Your heard a soft but clearly frustrated 'come in' from the other end of the door before you entered.
You walked in closed and the door behind yourself. You looked up at alcina but she had something else stealing her attention away. You huffed and walked up to her desk, sitting on it. You leaned closely to her face, twirling your hair your swang your feet like a little teenage girl in love. You huffed as she began typing the keyboards harshly frowning.
" alcina i-" she groaned loudly before turning to look at you. As her eyes met yours, you could see the frustration in her eyes. The dark spots underneath her eyes a clear sign she was tired and not getting much sleep. You felt sorry for her but then again she's the one that refuses to take a break.
" can you leave me alone please, why do you always have to be so clingy" she huffed before turning back to her work. Your jaw dropped, you looked at her in disbelief. She hasn't shown you any attention in days and now your the clingy one. Your body couldn't move. You were looking at her and the computer screen. She was planning an annual villager party. There would be all the lords and a couple villagers at the castle tonight.
A smirked immediately painted your lips as an idea came into your head. You were going to make alcina jealous. If she doesn't want to show you attention and love you'll find someone to do it. Then she'll know to cherish what she has.
The morning went by smoothly and it was now evening. There was maids rushing everywhere to make sure things were in order and how alcina wanted them. The girls were dressed in beautiful black dresses but you haven't spotted alcina yet. There was still quite some time before the event started and neither Donna, Karl or mother miranda had arrived yet.
You used the time to get dressed. You decided to wear a dress alcina had gotten for you a long time ago but you never had to courage to wear it. You did your hair in a messy bun and threw on a pair of heels. Looking at yourself in the mirror you smiled confidently, you looked absolutely gorgeous. If alcina saw you dressed like this and talking to someone other than her she'd go insane.
You heard a squeal from Daniela downstairs and you knew immediately that Donna had arrived which meant so have mother miranda, you weren't sure if Karl had arrived yet but the party starts when mother miranda arrives. You looked at yourself one last time before making your way outside. You stood above the balcony and looked down at everyone.
You saw the girls with Donna and Angie happily talking and slightly dancing. Then you saw Karl trying to hug alcina but she pushed him away growling while glaring at him. You giggled alittle before you took in how alcina was dressed. She looked absolutely breath talking, as always obviously. She was dressed in a beautiful black dress similar to the white one she usually wears. Her hair was in its usual curl and tuck hairstyle.
If you weren't on a mission or rather angry at her from early you'd fall for her charm. Bedside her was mother miranda, dressed in her usual attire only difference was she had on her golden masquerade raven mask. You looked across the room to see a beautiful woman. She instantly caught your eye. She was wearing a long sleeve black dress the showed off her collar bones perfectly. She was also wearing a mask like miranda but it was red. Her eye makeup was flawless i made her eyes pop. You smiled knowing that she was the one.
You slowly made your way downstairs taking your time to walk on each step. Your heels clicking against the wood, turning everyone's attention to you. When alcinas gaze met yours you could see her pupils dilate, her eyes raked up your body, drinking you in. You almost melted at the way she looked at you. You looked over at your target and saw that she was eyeing you intensely. You felt hot and bothered.
As you got to the end of the staircase you gaved miranda a curtsy and she returned it. Her face was blank but you can see the smile in her eyes. You glanced over at alcina who was trying her best to not pull your into a room and start a make out session. You gaved her a dirty look before scoffing and walking over to the lady.
You could feel alcinas eyes burning into your skin. You smiled at the lady and stopped right in front of her. She took off her mask and smirked. She was more beautiful in person.
" what brings such a pretty lady like you to my feet tonight" she spoke in a sultry tone. You couldn't help the blush that took over your face, it was embarrassing how she already had an effect on you. Alcina was eyeing the entire conversation, she couldn't even pay close attention to what miranda was saying. Her eyes were like lasers towards you.
The lady took your hand in hers and kissed it while keeping eye contact. You felt your stomach do flips and jumps. This is the attention you've been craving from alcina all week, and now your getting it from someone else it feels weird but amazing. If you and alcina weren't a thing you'd definitely go for this lady, but God knows you love alcina too much for that.
You giggled as she left one last kiss on your arm before kissing your cheek. Alcina was boiling with rage. All she thought of was slicing the woman to ribbons. How dare she touch you in such way. You belonged to her. You were hers to touch only. Alcina was going to make that woman pay. Miranda cleared her throat and alcina instantly refocused her attention to the conversation.
" I'm rose darling and you?" She asked with that God damn fucking beautiful accent that you couldn't put your finger one. You smiled softly at the pet name knowing deep down alcina says it better.
" I'm y/n your not from the village are you?" You asked and chuckled softly and caressed your shoulder before twirling your hair with her finger before looking at you deep in your eyes. This woman as no rizz you thought to yourself but you have to keep the conversation flowing.
" Yes I am actually but I'm from further up south where mother miranda used to live" she said. That's where the accent is from. Half Romanian half European, makes a perfect accent. South villagers are trouble. All they have is their pretty accent and face but their heart is cold.
She intertwined your hand with hers and leaded you to the bar. The both if you talked and drinked. The entire time alcina kept her eyes on you. After a while you needed to use the bathroom so you got up and left. Rose was far too busy flirting with another woman to notice your sudden absence. And honestly you didn't care, you just wanted to teach alcina a lesson on how she should always give you attention. Which in her book is pretty childish of you.
You entered the bathroom and thank God it was empty. On the inside you could hear how loud people were talking and how loud the music was being played. You fixed your dress and noticed your lip stick was smudged slightly, you walked over to the tissue stand and pulled off a piece. When you turned around your soul almost left your body completely. Standing before you was alcina.... and she did not look happy at all.
Her eyes were a bright yellow and her pupils were dilated. There were lines in between her forehead and her face was slightly red. She was raging with anger. Before you got a word out she quickly wrapped her hand around your throat lifting you up to be on the same eye leavel with her. She made sure to leave space for you to breath but this was definitely going to leave a mark.
" so I see playing with fire is one of your biggest virtue now draga, hm?" She asked her tone husked and low, almost like a whisper and a rumble at the same time. You felt that familiar wetness in your core and you whimpered. She pursed her lips together smirking slightly before lowering you back down but not removing her hand from your throat.
" you know what they say draga, everyone has a choice..... and every choice has a consequence, so I hope your ready to face yours" she whispered licking the spot behind your ear, making you shiver. Your heartbeat picked up and she chuckled.
" I pity you draga mea, honestly I do. Your so needy it's ridiculous. But I'll set the table clear for you. You.are.mine" she whispered in a dominant tone making the last three words loud and clear for you.
" maybe if you had given me some attention and fuck me, I wouldn't have had to lead rose on and make her seem as if she has a chance. You need to cherish what you have!" You manged to shout before she squeezed your throat tighter. Her eyes flashed a brighter yellow making you whimper. You were making her angrier. You could literally feel it radiating off her.
" careful little girl, don't test my patience more than you already have because you won't like the out come. I'll have to punish rose for thinking she had a chance with you...." she spoke softly, there was this look in her eyes and this smirk on her face. You knew too well what she meant. You cleanched your thighs together as your head fell back against the wall and you moaned softly. The ache between your legs needed to be fixed now.
Alcina chuckled as she forced your thighs apart with her knee. She pressed her knee against your cunt and chuckled at how wet you were already.
" are you wet from me or from this rose?" She asked darkly.
" you!. God please alcina, I need you so bad.." You whined looking up at her under your lashes.
" don't worry mommy will take good care of you" she purred. But you didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She released your throat and dragged you out of the bathroom holding you close by a hand on your hip. When rose saw you coming from the bathroom she started walking towards you not taking heed of your face saying 'no', when alcina emerged from the bathroom behind you rose froze.
Alcina looked down at her with rage and anger, she could feel her blood boiling. Rose eye widen as she realized who she was standing infront of, not once has she been this close to the lady before and she was terrified. She slowly backed away and changed directions. You slightly chuckled at her reaction but alcinas fingers digging into your waist reminded you of what was about to happen next.
She guided you up the stairs and into your shared bedroom. She locked the door and pushed you against it, pressed her warm body against yours making no way for you to escape. You felt yourself getting ridiculously hot, your heart was beating so fast and loud it was the only thing you could hear. Alcinas perfume was intoxicating.
" when I'm finished with you tonight, I'll be leaving you absolutely bed ridden draga" her voice sharp- low and dominant. There was a low growl in her chest before she dragged you onto the bed and pushed you down onto it. She held up herself, not wanting to crush you with her weight. She ripped your dress in half with her claws. Your mouth fell open Slightly in shock but the look in her eyes said it all, she bought it so she can ruin it. Her eyes were dark and sultry.
You needed her so bad. Your hips uncontrollably bucked up towards her before she harshly grabbed your waist pushing it back down.
" listen to me y/n, from what you did tonight you have no control you hear me?, I do the touching, I do the fucking, understood?" She asked in a husked tone, you nodded but it wasn't enough for her.
" I asked a question draga, have I made myself clear?" You whispered as her nails digged into your flesh, it pain was sufficient.
" Yes mommy" you answered and she smirked.
" good girl" if you weren't laying down you would have folded completely, your knees would have give out. Her voice was was dripping with honey, even though she was anger she talked to you like she was saying a prayer. She took off your bra and you shivered at the cold air hitting your nipples. She pinch them making a soft moan escape from your mouth before she latched her mouth onto one. You moaned as she sucked harshly at your small bud, rolling the other bud in her hand as it erected for her.
You arched your chest into her looking down at her. Her eyes said it all. She was going to ruin you and you were here for it. She started kissing down your chest, stomach and lower abdomen. She slowly opened your legs and started kissing in between your thighs making eye contact with you the entire time. She was driving you crazy. You needed to feel her lips on yours, you needed it so bad.
" alci- I need you to kiss me" you whined arching your back and pulling the sheets as she licked up your slit. A soft angelic moan left your mouth, it was so beautiful.
" what was that draga?" She sincerely asked, while licking around your area.
" I need you to kiss me please" you whispered, shivering slightly as she manhandled your thighs to push then further apart. She ignored your request and began sucking and pulling at your clit. You arched your back and you pulled at the sheets. The moan you let out was pornographic.
" careful now draga, don't want our guests to hear how much of a slut you for mommy do you?" She asked the vibrations going straight to your core making you buck your hips and try to close your thighs but alcinas grip on them were strong. You started to feel that familiar feeling in your stomach.
" fuck- alci- mommy I'm gonna cum" you moaned and alcina smirked as she started sucking faster. You started moaning loudly, the only word you could think of was 'fuck' and 'shit'. Your legs started to shake as your eyes rolled back. You saw white as your orgasm washed over you. You were just about the calm down whe alcina pushed 2 fingers into your cunt. You screamed as your eyes rolled back.
She curled them inside you and started a steady pace inside you. She smirked at your blissed out face and kissed her way up your body making sure to leave marks. The sight was sinful. Her fingers knuckle deep inside you, your back arched off the bed, your eyes rolled back, your mouth open. She was destroying you. She made her way up to your neck and started bitting and sucking at the flesh.
" fuck alcina please-" you moaned out loudly as your hips bucked off the bed, she pushed her fingers deeper into you scissors them every thrust.
" wrong name draga.... do you think that rose could have fucked you like this? Have you crying like this, mhm beautiful? Look how slutty you are for mommy" she cooed and you swore you could have cumed right then and there. You clenched down around her fingers making it harder for her to move, she chuckled darkly and she went faster. The sound of your wet cunt when she thrust her fingers deep and hard into you.
" don't you dare cum" she hissed biting down on your neck. She was going to send you into oblivion. A place far way where only euphoria existed. On instinct you opened your legs wider for her the hit your sweet spot harder. You cried out as your orgasm came crumbling down on you harshly. You saw white. You knew alcina would be mad but you didn't care. She let you ride out your high but she still kept her fingers in you slowly thrusting and she kissed you passionately.
You could taste yourself, her wine from early and the fine steak she ate. You moaned softly as you started to become over sensitive. She kissed you slowly and softly using her tongue before she slowly pulled her fingers from you. You whined as she put them in her moan licking and cleaning them while looking at you. She smirked as she looked down at your fucked out face, how your chest was heaving with each breath you took.
She pulled her fingers from her mouth with a pop and leaned down towards you.
" Your lucky we have this event tonight because I was planning to go all night making you scream my name little one" she whispered making you giggle. She made a face as if she was insulted before tickling you.
" you think I'm being funny huh" she cooed making you giggle more. After she stopped the both of you shared a moment of silence just looking at each other lovingly.
" I'm sorry for making you feel like an option draga, it was intentionally. I'm sorry and I'll make it up to you.... you know.... other than sex" she whispered you smiled softly at her sleep starting to over take you. She smiled softly before laying down next to you and pulling you closer to her. She kissed your forehead and cuddled you closer.
"What about your party and mother miranda" you whispered. She smiled softly at you holding you tighter.
" I'll leave and go back when you fall asleep draga"
" don't go" you whispered before falling asleep. Alcina smiled and kissed your cheek.
" I won't my little shooting star"

My Totally Unserious Thoughts on the Mass Effect Trilogy (after playing it for the first time in 2024)
Mass Effect 1
Ma’am- Ma’am please- Ma’am, I need you to look to the left for me please.
Holy shit, I think I actually look pretty good.
Me during the Citadel View conversation: Okay Kaidan, I see you. I'm picking up what you are putting down.
But we’re trying to romance Garrus. Everyone’s up his ass, so I got to see what that’s about.
It has come to my attention that neither Garrus nor Tali are romanceable in the first game… Kaidan, I choose you.
NPC: It’s terrible what happened on Akuze.
Me: Oh yeah, Akuze, the Akuze where something happened, that Akuze (what the fuck happened on Akuze?)
THRESHERMAWS!?!?!
If I have to drive up one more steep-ass mountain to get to some minerals, I will lose it.
Kaidan: It seems you have quite a connection with Liara.
Me: I do????? I’ve talked to her one time. Like many things in this game about myself, that is news to me.
Ashley: something, something, something, scuttlebutt
Me: Who the fuck is scuttlebutt?
My brother: Kaidan (neither of us actually understand what scuttlebutt means)
I miss Nomad conversations.
Don’t mind me, I’ll just casually bypass this door on Noveria–
YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO COMPLETE ANY OTHER MISSIONS HERE
Andromeda Interlude: I went to go read my emotional support Jaal/Ryder fic, glanced at the author’s bookmarks, saw FemShep/Zaeed. This detour has taken an unforeseen turn and will take much longer than expected.
Okay, I’m back.
Time to go to Virmire, I know what’s coming
What the hell is that loud-ass noi- It’s Wrex. He is shooting his loud as hell shotgun at the water.
HOLD THE LINE
If I some how get Kirrahe killed, I will be very upset.
Oh, I guess I’ll take Kaidan and Liara with me to Ilos…. What do you mean I can’t change my party when we get to the Citadel? Wrex and Garrus want to shoot Saren in the face. They deserve it.
Here's my first Shepard for the hell of it
Tumblr media
Mass Effect 2
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY EYEBROWS?????
I.. I can live with it. I don’t want to go through the whole character creation again (the concept of writing down a face ID has not yet registered)
Cue two hours of me being appalled by those eyebrows
She could not live with it
Okay, let’s try this again
Time to save Archangel…
The pyro vorcha has killed me three times, maybe even four. I’m making a terrible first impression on Zaeed.
I like talking to Jack, but she doesn’t like talking to me. (I like talking to everyone, but I yap too much, so they don’t want to talk to me anymore.)
We’re on Horizon. Kaidan is very salty, which is valid, I just like to be dramatic about it. My brother and I compare the reactions of Ashley and Kaidan.
LOYALTY MISSION TIME
Do you even remember that night before Ilos?
Tumblr media
I accidentally talked to Jack one too many times and hit on her. I am so sorry
Kelly, I want you to feed my fish. Why don’t you want to feed my fish? (Apparently I was supposed to say “I’d embrace you” at the beginning)
Shepard’s dancing is terrible.
The Illusive Man wants to talk to me, I guess I’ll go do that– WE’RE IMMEDIATELY GOING TO THE SHIP. WHAT THE FUCK?? I haven’t even picked up Thane yet T_T
Jane “where my hug at” Shepard has entered the chat
Thane apparently has the probe upgrade, that would have been greatly appreciated several hours ago.
I deserved to get a long dress out of Kasumi’s loyalty mission.
I had reach, she had flexibility
Tumblr media
Thane actually wants to talk to me >_<
Nevermind, he called me siha and decided to never speak to me again
Time to go fistfight a yahg.
I have once again yapped too much, an no one wants to talk to me anymore.
I brought Mordin and Miranda with me to the derelict Reaper. Good conversation choices, not exactly good husk destroyers. How many times did I use shockwave, you ask? Yes. The answer is yes.
Yaay, we finally got Legion.
I rewrote the heretics. I sense this may bite me in the ass.
Time to go through the Omega 4 Relay.
Mentally writing a fic where Shepard leaves a video message for Kaidan/tries to call, but he doesn’t answer
I know I have all the ship upgrades, and everyone is loyal, but I am stressed.
We made it.
I finally went back to the Shadow Broker base and talked to Feron. I’m in love…
There are only six fanfics for those who are curious.
I only recalled this because of a video I was watching, but… the cuntiness of Garrus in his recruitment mission. Like sir, what the fuck?
Tumblr media
Second/Partial Third Playthrough
Already?! You may be asking yourself. The answer is yes apparently. I finished Inquisition, and my brother started his second playthrough of Mass Effect, and suddenly I’m here again.
I have spent a ridiculous amount of time debating whether I’m going to romance Thane or Garrus. I know I’ll romance the other eventually, but who will I pick first. Do I want to hurt my feelings or have fun?
I picked Thane. I have another save for when I get around to romancing Garrus.
I miss Kaidan, but not in a “damnit, Ashley’s here” kind of way. I just miss my man.
Mass Effect 3
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY FACE
I tried to fix it. I think I made it worst.
What the fuck is up with Shepard’s arms?
The entire Mars mission: Kaidan staring at Shepard when she isn’t looking. Shepard staring at Kaidan when he is halfway across the room. This is great.
I had to restart. I fucked up her face too much. She still doesn’t look like herself to me, but I’ll push through it (fucking weirdass mouth shapes)
Once again, what the fuck is up with Shepard’s arms.. And chest, and run?
I really should visit the council, but baby girl is in the hospital with his tits out. I gotta go
Shepard finally has her hoodie again, the weirdness is less noticeable now.
Saved the Primarch, so it’s time to see baby girl again.
Thane’s here too (don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry)
They actually go me , I thought I got Kasumi killed for a second.
They go me with Grunt too. I am stressed
The Primarch sure like to get in Shepard’s space
We have now lost Mordin and Thane.
Also, Kaidan during the coup stand-off “Don’t make me regret this” Bro, don’t make me fucking fight you.
Cortez, Jack, Joker, and EDI were all at the bar at the same time. Time to get lit
Got blackout drunk. Woke up on Aria’s couch
Kaidan has rejoined the Normandy. Shepard checked out his ass to an absurd degree
Everybody wants to come up to my cabin. I am constantly worried I’m going to accidentally hit on someone.
Kaidan is leaning
Tumblr media
youtube
Me while Kaidan talked about EDI: 0_0 This is Jaal all over again
Had the Apollo lunch. I am constantly surprised by how horny Shepard is.
youtube
You weren’t there when I woke up this morning. Y’all fucking? Without my permission?
Tali on Thessia was honestly kind of funny. I’m pretty sure that is a Prothean, Liara. Hey Liara, don’t you think that is a Prothean. PROTHEANS. I’ll bring Javik next time.
Citadel DLC was fun. Still wish Shepard had a fancy dress like everyone else, but that’s what daydreaming and writing fanfic that will never see the light of day is for.
I unfortunately didn't dress up before going to dinner with Joker, so when Kaidan was like, "Nice outfit." Shepard was standing there in her hoodie like, "... Whatever you say man."
James terrified me when he took his shirt off, but it was fine. And I beat his pull-up record.
Shepard and Kaidan obviously got it on. I don’t think I really need to say anymore on that.
I wish Thane’s picture stayed on the piano.
I obviously invited everyone to the party even though I wanted Zaeed to call me beautiful. Apparently that only happens if Javik isn’t there.
As much as I wanted to enjoy the moment with Kaidan before the Cerberus base, I could not because I am very self conscious and had an audience of three people in the room with me.
Me the entire time I was talking to hologram Zaeed: Why are we so up in each other’s grills?
I should have had Kaidan with me for the race toward the beam to experience the full drama of that. I had Javik instead, which was pretty dramatic anyways. I never expected you to reach for me like that bro
My brother chose synthesis when he played, so I went with destroy to see what that was like. I didn’t want to do that to EDI and the geth, but I did want to see Zaeed drinking beer on a beach.
I’ll preface this by saying, I didn’t go into this blind in any way, so I knew in the final scene Joker would be followed out by two “favored” squad mates, your love interest and second favored squad mate. I was expecting Garrus or James, so I was very bamboozled when Javik walked out.
Second Playthrough
Shepard is so much more defensive with Ashley, and accusative in a way. “Can I trust you to have my back?” What? Why is this even a conversation?
Ashley feels very underutilized in general. Like, her Normandy comments after bigger missions feel more vague and generalized compared to others. She only has one thing to say while others have three or four before they are done talking to you.
Talking to James during the Citadel DLC is a lot scarier when you don’t have a current romance. I don’t want to accidentally seriously come onto him. He doesn’t need that.
Also, why couldn't James have been an option to swoop in after Shepard's fall through the fish tank. Why is Liara the only option if you don't have a squadmate romance? Like, he already has that unserious flirting thing going with femshep. He would totally say, "Nice outfit"
I did want James to be the person I had my beam run moment with though. It was Ashley instead, which didn't make the most sense, but I was cool with it going that way too. And Garrus was the one holding Shepard's name placard, and Javik was the one who exited the Normandy after Joker and EDI, so really have no idea who my true ride or die was. I wonder if armax matches count as missions in the counter.
Speaking of armax arena, it makes no logical sense, but I wish Feron was a potential squadmate, or Bailey
The Thane romance has definitely hurt my feelings on several occasions. It’s great. I got to talk to him after the party too, so that was nice.
WHY AM I FIGHTING ALL THESE SHEPARDS? THIS FUCKING SUCKS
Because trophies, that’s why
There was probably something else, but tumblr decided to not save my edits, so I'm beyond the point of caring anymore

Miranda: I'll just say this once because I don't want to be annoying but... I'm sorry about Grayson
Glenn: Who? I don't know anyone by that name
Miranda: Sure you don't
Gillian: *confused* But he does, that's where he was
Miranda: Kids, no concept of denial, unless they mess up your stuff
Gillian: I didn't get paint on your sneakers, it was Pockets!
Miranda: I guess we're all in the denial camp today
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glenn: And what would you be denying
Miranda: That I'm not sitting here playing a game when Phoebus said I needed to check the boundary once I finished on the message boards. But you do what you need to heal Glenn
Gillian: You're hurt?
Glenn: Distract me, how did the field mice go?
Gillian: Oh they were just the cutest! Pockets was right about where to find them
Tumblr media
Glenn: And how did approaching them as Pockets go?
Gillian: Good... at first
Miranda: I told you mice hate cats
Gillian: Well they shouldn't because cats are beautiful
Glenn: Cats are vicious predators Gillian
Gillian: Not Pockets
Glenn: Really? Are you saying he's never brought in a rat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gillian: But I thought he was good for hunting rats
Glenn: Maybe but if he's getting rats he's likely going after birds as well. They damage the ecosystem, the best solution is to keep them indoors
Gillian: But Pockets loves outside just like you do
Glenn: And I'm sure the birds love being alive
Miranda: Relax Glenn. Feral cats are an issue but it's human negligence that led to them. If they had been born indoors they would be domestic like other cats, they're not to blame for their circumstances, and neither is Gillian
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glenn: I- I'm sorry Gillian. I didn't mean to get snarky about it. I guess I'm just a mess right now
Gillian: I accept your apology Glenn. You care about the environment, that's good. I'm sure your boyfriend breaking up with you just made you tired
Glenn: We were never technically boyfriends but... thanks
Gillian: Phoebus says when I get big feelings I should channel them in to a project. Maybe you should start a project Glenn
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glenn: Like what
Gillian: Well my next project is to shift in to a cat
Glenn: Yeah I didn't get the shapeshifting gene
Gillian: But you like gardens right? Start a proper new one for us. With a toffee tree! There's one in the book I just read and it sounds delicious
