I think the only reason Neil Druckmann chose Kaitlyn Dever to play Abby is because she's also a fucking Zionist. Because it doesn't make any sense to me, if you look at the concept art you'll see that Abby has almost always been a big woman (except for the one where she pretends to be romantically interested in Joel.) How do you feel about everyone going nuts on TLOU fans for not posting about Palenstine on their blog or participating in the strike? Personally, I think they look extremely dumb because not posting about a video game isn’t going to save any lives and bullying people on the internet doesn’t help anyone either. I was just curious.

I keep getting hateful messages where people call me a zionist because I don't share politics on this blog. I don't take it personally because the people know nothing about me. They don't know that I am on other social media sites where I am open to talking about it. People hiding behind anon ask and attacking me can't really get me bothered.

I made this blog to connect with people who love TLOU despite the creator's personal life (I really don't give a flying fuck about Druckmann; if he's a piece of shit, then he's a piece of shit). We don't love Neil Druckmann; we love what he once created. It is not the same. People calling those who still enjoy the game zionists is as if society still called the people who live in Germany nazis. I mean, c'mon. This is social media, we like the product of someone's mind. We don't love or support the bad side of the conflict by fangirling about characters that don't even exist in real life. It's completely harmless, and I am not here to post politics. I've said it too many times already.

Not speaking about something publicly doesn't mean you support evil. People should realize that not everything is about sharing everything online. I am with Palestine in my heart and in my thoughts. Me saying those things out loud on a blog dedicated to TLOU would be completely useless because everyone involved in this fandom already knows how things are. Sharing about the conflict here would be like sharing facts about alcohol being bad for you at AA meetings.

the first last of us game holds a special place in my heart, it really does. there's something about that story that i always come back to. but i will never accept the sequel game, and by proxy the show. neil druckmann is a zionist piece of shit who peppers in propaganda in his story and i could harp on about the direction part 2 takes for hours, but the fact is i simply will not separate the art from the artist. i refuse to contribute to showing the powers that be that i'm willing to consume media created by people with genocidal and insidious ideologies and put money in their pockets in what way i can. they're already milking this franchise for every penny its worth and the adaptation to television is redundant—it's clear they'll hardly stray from the source material at all. you will not see me reblogging season 2. i have no desire to watch joel's brains get bashed in to tell some bullshit story about the "cyclical nature of violence".

ok but on a serious note while I'm shit posting to address something more serious I think a big part of why that tlou inspo is struggling is learning more about neil druckmann -- who grew up a settler in the West Bank -- and how his zionism is pervasive across the entire universe. other people have said this better (jewish currents does such a good deep discussion on this). seeing that lens makes it hard to unsee.

i am a big believer that what people do with a piece of media in different mediums does not have to be endorsement for every idea of the author, and that in fact there's power in reshaping those narratives. but I feel really unsettled by it, and it's hard to both watch Palestinean kids die every day and know that in some form we are dealing with propaganda that exists to serve their dehumanization.

i watched the video game olympics yesterday and it was really boring but one thing about it made me really really disappointed, which is trent reznor and atticus ross working with that piece of shit zionist neil druckmann. i expect better of you two now, come on....

seeing ur reaction to TLOU2 i think the *point* of the game was to make you feel conflicted and upset. the game wasn't meant to be the same as the first one... it was meant to make you question if joel's actions and reframe the entire first game. joel lied to ellie for years and manipulated her and didn't let her talk about her feelings... also manny wasn't neil's self insert?? joel was a shitty person even if you/ellie loved him

The “point” of this game was to make a logical and cohesive creative story that made sense. Joel dying is not the problem (and whether he was a “good” person or not does not matter in this discussion rn), the problem is how he died. Neil Druckmann wanted to create a Revenge story, and that’s well within his right to make that story, but how he went about it was lazy, tone deaf and uncreative and fans are well within their right to call him out on it (not talking death threats, but actual criticism). 

First off, Druckmann made Joel (and Tommy) OOC to kick start the motive of the entire story and game. Joel obviously died to propel the story of Ellie getting revenge, but he wasn’t the same Joel that was in the first game. After twenty years of being hardened and learning how to survive in the cruel world that is the apocalypse, he (and Tommy) wouldn’t have let themselves be surrounded by a group of complete strangers (much less offer to take them back to their settlement and offer up their real names, especially after what Joel did to save Ellie, you know, the cure for all mankind). That alone is pissing fans off (for good reason, never mind what other bullshit happens in the rest of the game). The first game showed, and proved, how well Joel is at knowing ambushes. It was OOC, flat out. But of course Druckmann didn’t care enough to think if that’ll make sense for Joel’s character to put himself in that position, because his death’s gotta kickstart the game!!!!! (he was also killed by a golf club, like why tf is a stack of golf clubs at a Ski Resort? The laziness for this game knows no bounds) 

Druckmann wanted his Revenge story and to show that “revenge is never the answer”, “don’t fight fire with fire!”, “you’ll turn into the person you hate!”, etc etc etc, but being beaten over the head with it for 20+ hours is definitely not the way to go about it. At the end of the day this is a video game, and everyday human beings know that stone cold revenge is wrong. Most people go to video games for escape, not to be reminded of the world we live in, and having to be emersed in a game that tries (and especially WANTS) to make you feel like a piece of shit for killing dogs and pregnant women is very manipulative and cruel (even after Naughty Dog claimed you didn’t have to kill any dogs when there’s a part in the game where you had to is shady af). It essentially turns into Torture Porn. It’s been shown that Revenge stories can be done right. This game failed on creating a well thought-out Revenge story (and just a side note, but I think it’s funny how this game is supposed to be about Revenge~, but the main antagonist never once mentions what she did to Joel after, how she feels about torturing and killing him, nor was it ever brought up by her friends or anyone. If this story was really about Revenge, and if it was written well, it would have explored what Abby thought about traveling the whole country for four months just to torture and brutally kill a man right in front of his daughter because he didn’t want his daughter to die, and a man who btw only shot Abby’s father in the head and didn’t actually torture him like Abby tortured Joel (right after saving her life). So fucking stupid. And then get to play as her for ten+ hours!! Isn’t that fantastic!! And people are still wondering why a lot of fans are upset. rmfe. I’m gonna stop here because I can go on and on about this trashfire of a game. 

Like I said there’s nothing hopeful about this game. The reason the first game is so beloved is because it reminds us that hope and love can be found in a very dark world. That’s what Joel found when he met Ellie and traveled the country with her. He found hope again after loosing his daughter. This game ended with Ellie being completely alone, something that she is most afraid of. She has no Dina, no J.J, no Tommy (that probably hates her now for not killing Abby). She has no one. She is alone. The one thing she didn’t want to happen, happens... 

And you know what the cherry on top of this Torture Porn Fest of a game is? Ellie couldn’t even get to sing the one song (and the song that meant the most to her) she was trying to sing throughout the whole fucking game because she got her fingers bitten off, being forever unable to connect with Joel with the only option she had, which was playing the guitar. 

Again, fuck you Neil Druckmann.
