As I sit here on the slightly dusty, old couch, I run away. Sun beams flash through the window while the mighty trees sway, and I am left here feeling no larger than a flea.
How far I have fallen, yet not. Mind sharper, body quicker, I try not to rot. I run away convinced I can master myself. How wrong we all are putting our hearts on the shelf. Festering and oozing, all we do is ignore.
Since you’re already so afraid of trusting anyone else, why trust yourself?
However, when the vicious cycle loops three times too many, the weight you pretend is no more than a penny increases greater than ten-fold and you lose grip over your fake reality. You fall, right into your heart’s chamber of secrets. The very place you desired to escape.
As your heart looms over you, all heavy and threatening, it says, “You know, you’re not actually weak. Who else could’ve withstood such pain? But you choose not to face it, so you defeat your own self. Everyone else stopped attacking but you don’t see it. You only fight yourself.”
With that, the ground crumbles and breaks, dragging you down with it. Your world yawns open with clarity and pain. You break and meld, swallow and expel, recall and forget, but never leave the boundaries of your own mind. So you tumble and fight against the opponents others crafted for you long ago, because you are frightened of what might happen if you stop and let go.
And so you stay like me, spectating the trees dance and weave. Look without seeing the sunlight penetrate the room. While you inhale the dust and sit without feeling. For the cost is too great, dealing with the beating you took all those years ago.

Rolf Mahrenholz, Carola Neher (in Die Dame 6, 1930-31)
Carola Neher (born Karoline Neher; 2nd November 1900 – 26th June 1942), German actress and singer
In 1932 she married Anatol Becker and left Germany after Hitler's ascension to power in spring 1933. She first emigrated to Prague, where she worked at the New German Theater, but went on to the Soviet Union in 1934, where she met Gustav von Wangenheim and worked with him at his cabaret Kolonne Links.
In 1936, during the Great Purge, Wangenheim denounced Neher and Becker as Trotskyites and she was arrested on 25th July 1936. Becker was executed in 1937, while Neher was sentenced to ten years in prison and sent to the prison for political convicts in Oryol.
As the German army approached Oryol in October 1941, she was transferred to NKVD Prison No. 2 near Orenburg, where she died of typhus on 26th June 1942, aged 41. Neher (prisoner number 59783) was buried in an unmarked mass grave. Her son, Georg, became a music teacher and only found out about his parents' identity in 1975.

Rudolf Forster and Carola Neher in The Threepenny Opera (G.W. Pabst, 1931)
Cast: Rudolf Forster, Carola Neher, Reinhold Schünzel, Fritz Rasp, Valeska Gert, Lotte Lenya, Hermann Thimig, Ernst Busch. Screenplay: Béla Balász, Léo Lania, Ladislaus Vaida, based on a play by Bertolt Brecht adapted from a play by John Gay. Cinematography: Fritz Arno Wagner. Art direction: Andrej Andrejew. Film editing: Hans Oser. Music: Kurt Weill.
In 1928, Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill transformed John Gay's 18th-century Beggar's Opera into Die Dreigroschenoper, one of the most celebrated works to come out of Weimar-era Germany, so when sound came to film it was inevitable that the musical should become a movie. But both Brecht and Weill were unhappy with what Pabst decided to do with both the plot and the songs, so they sued. Brecht lost, but Weill won, with the result that although songs were cut from the film, no new music by other composers was added. Brecht's objections seem to be more about a loss of control over the screenplay than about any ideological shift: If anything, the ending of the film goes even further left than Brecht's did, with the crooks and corrupt officials of the play becoming bankers. Pabst's direction is sometimes a little slow and stiff: He had never done a musical film before, and the action between songs often seems to lag. But the musical numbers that remain -- which include the well-known "Moritat" or "Mack the Knife," Lotte Lenya's delivery of "The Ballad of the Ship With Fifty Cannons," and "The Song of the Heavy Cannon" -- are well-handled. The cast includes Rudolf Forster as Mackie Messer (i.e. Mack the Knife), Carola Neher as Polly Peachum, Fritz Rasp as Peachum, and Lenya as Jenny. It's striking to see that, as in Fritz Lang's M, made the same year, the underworld is presumed to consist of syndicates of thieves and beggars. The cinematography is by Pabst's frequent collaborator, Fritz Arno Wagner, and the splendid sets are by Andrej Andrejew.

Carola Neher (1900-1942) is a German actress, who rose to fame in Weimar Berlin.
Of great beauty, she was one of Bertolt Brecht's emblematic actresses, having played in several of his plays, in The Threepenny Opera in particular.
Fleeing the Nazi regime, she took refuge in the Soviet Union, where the Stalinist regime sent her in the Gulag as part of the Great Purges. She died in 1942 in Sol-Iletsk.

He blinked up at the sky hugging our eyes, nostrils slightly flared at the breeze. I found the desire to swallow him instead of the sky growing. Somehow, we inhaled deeply in sync yet again and I stopped caring to hide our unity. I exhaled a sigh with him. His gaze flicked to me and lingered. I felt stuck and free and homesick for one not realized. He drank me in while I tried to breathe. I glanced up at the sky for a final plea. The clouds barely moved in reply. I felt afraid of my own heart as I looked back to him. 4 lips slightly parted, 4 pupils blown out. 20 fingers twitching, 20 butterflies flitting. 1 idea. So long this home not realized, now forged. I lost breath too long ago. His eyes promised to return it to me, so I shut mine in trust. And so he did. When our lips joined together the sky shrank and he expanded.
At last, we swallowed the sky.

I think a friend of mine might have feelings for me.... I don't like him in that way and don't wanna hurt him. What do i do now? Tbh i'm not used to being in this situation it's usually me who pines after others... way more uncomfortable position to be in that i thought
#also this is the second friend in 2 weeks that i think might have feelings. the first admitted it and asked me if i wanted#to be in a relationship with him. you know how wild it is to see someone that nervous to talk to you. his eyes lit up while he talked to me#like he couldn't contain his smile. this is so wild it neher happened to me this intensely before. and i don't like him that way so i#had to reject him... really hope he'll get over it quickly and easily#since when do i have rizz#also friend nr 2 had been giving me this impression for a while but he's so nice to others as well that i didn't take it seriously. and also#cause it isn't mutual. but he keeps on asking me if a wanted to meet with him and inviting me to places etc#and i thought everyone in our friend group was equally close but it appears that it absolutely not the case. he asked me to help remove a#dead bumble bee from his house (he has a phobia) so i said sure and mentioned i had a friend with me (coincidentally friend 1)#also yes we're all part of the same friend group#anyway so i go to his house to remove the bee and he apparently was upset that the other was there as well. apparently there was a#miscommunication and he didn't think other would be with me. i thought i had communicated it more clearly. anyway really sucked that i made#him feel uncomfortable in his own house. but tbh a part if me also did not want to be alone at his house bc i got the vibe that he liked me#i actually went on a date recently with a girl and it was quite nice... if i start dating her that might solve my problem#with both those friends... then they can move on more easily perhaps

@diemauer : ❛ we didn't get it right but we did our best. ❜ ( from alex ) → unreal unearth, accepting.
Tumblr media
she usually tends to avoid the locker rooms. the overwhelming smell of sweat and various different deodorants mixing together always gives her a headache. nose wrinkles up just a little bit as she moves to sit next to him on the bench. most of the other guys had already changed and left or were on their way out but alex was still in his kit - head hung low. they had lost the game which was already disappointing as part of the audience but she can't imagine what it feels like to leave the field not being the winner. a nod follows his words. " you did. " she confirms. " the goal came out of nowhere, there was no way you could have caught that. " maybe there was but she wasn't going to bother him with percentages. " i'm sorry, alex. " she leans forward a bit more in hopes of catching his eyes. " what can i do to cheer you up ? "

Dull Or Shiny?
Is there a right side to #aluminiumfoil? It seems there isn't unless it's #nonstick #tinfoil @Alcoa
The date of Charles and Julia Hall’s first production of aluminium by electrolysis, February 23, 1886, was significant because in France, Paul Héroult, using the same process to produce aluminium, was quicker off the mark in applying for a patent. When Hall applied for his patent on July 9, 1896, he was sued by Héroult for infringement of the patent granted him on April 23, 1886. Thanks in part…
