Wow. Holy fucking shit, that company!
I wish I could teleport some actual gluten free bread and other goodies over to you, OP. That sounds like a wholly miserable situation.
Mad right now.
In a fit of desperate longing for bread a few weeks back I consumed part of delicious loaves of stuffed bread. Like one was stuffed with Bavarian cream and drizzled with chocolate. The other was stuffed with 4 different cheeses and herbs. I figured surely it’s worth it.
It was not. The concrete it turned my digestive tract into was horrible and only finally do I maybe have it out of my system after weeks of pain.
So I went to the store today for gluten free bread, as I was out, because I wanted a sandwich. I got a loaf that sounded good, all ingredients I wanted, and made a roast beef and Swiss sandwich with mayo and spicy mustard. It was amazing and I was surprised it was gluten free. I decided to grab another piece, and then I saw the word “wheat.”
The loaf was labeled flourless, but the first ingredient was sprouted wheat. So not actually gluten free at all.
I almost started crying because I’ll get weeks of pain for this mistake. And I don’t have any gluten free bread for sandwiches on top of that.
I fucking hate this. I want a shot that will make it possible to eat bread.

After seeing so much on here and Twitter about #SaveTheAcolyte and all the nonsense going on within. I felt that, as a lifelong fan of Star Wars, enough was enough. To all publications that pander to the loud minority in this fan base, I present my short counterargument.
Attack my opinion all you want. I know where I stand. And that is with those in this fanbase who are tired of being ignored and disregarded. Cast aside and overlooked. We were here first. Our voices matter, too. #CancelTheAcolyte #fireKathleenKennedy #saveStarWars
I want to make something absolutely unequivocally clear. The Acolyte failed (and yes, it did fail) because of a very definitive, very decisive reason.
Disney, after purchasing Lucas Films and Star Wars, chose to spit in the face and no longer regard the older/”legends” fan base as a viable audience, or take into consideration their ideas, opinions, or viewership in favor of a new untapped market-because they know that the previous fan base was not going to agree with the changes that they were going to make. And, by pandering to a new, oblivious audience-they could get away with more destruction.
After the purchase, Disney and Kathleen Kennedy chose to “erase” decades of extended universe content that was deeply loved and cherished by the older fan base. Yet, not long after, the bad reception of some of their early projects was met with harsh criticism. Criticism that was met with asinine claims that there was nothing to work with and that Star Wars was creatively difficult to expand upon. It is thanks to the older fan base that this beloved franchise has survived as long as it did. And it is that very same fan base that Disney offensively chooses to ignore in favor of a new audience that has very little knowledge or understanding of the franchise as a whole, which they can now pandering towards with little push back.
To Disney, “our version” Star Wars no longer exists. It was killed and made obscure. Obsolete. Completely irrelevant as only their version of Star Wars is allowed to exist now. A version that they can control, twist, manipulate, and market to a generation of fans that will never know about the magnificent, beautiful, and masterfully crafted world that has been our escape for 40+ years. Stories that have given life to the Galaxy we wanted to be a part of.
I will admit that Disney; while in control of Star Wars, has done an acceptable job at creating wonderful new content and shows like the Bad Batch, Rebels, Rogue One, Season 7 of The Clone Wars, the Mandalorian (S1+2), and Andor. However, that does not mean we can overlook, nor does it justify the existence of other projects that have been routinely seen as critical failures amongst a majority of the fan base. Projects that have attempted to return ideas, concepts, and storylines from past extended universe properties and instead twist them into a crude and shameful attempt at pandering towards the older audience. Attempts that has left members of the older extended universe fan base enraged as beloved storylines, characters, concepts, plot points and themes we all have cherished for decades have become bastardized and pathetically interpreted in a lazy attempt to make us feel heard. THAT is why the Acolyte failed.
I worry that if Disney continues down this path of negligence and ignorance towards the older members of this fan base-it will only lead to further and further critical failures that will even further tarnish the reputation of Star Wars in the pop-culture zeitgeist. We are not some “loud minority” that kicks and screams when we see a “strong powerful LGBTQ+ woman of color” on screen. We ARE the VERY foundation of this franchise. And we are exhausted from seeing what is becoming of our childhood under the umbrella of a multi-billion dollar corporation’s need to further satiate its unquenchable greed. We are scared that Star Wars will no longer become this incredibly important and innovative piece of cinema history, but that it will soon become a shell of a once great franchise that brought millions of people together in a galaxy far, far away

Note
I'm rereading Sticks & Stones and omg I forgot the sheer amount of pure negligence that allowed that situation to happen in the first place.
Because even ignoring Aizawa's failures as a teacher, or that a teacher as inexperienced as All Might shouldn't have been supervising a live combat exercise, jesus christ how the fuck did anyone think the gauntlets were safe for Bakugou let alone for use on other students in a live combat exercise?! Who signed off on that support gear?! Sure, the designers probably know the basics of Bakugou's quirk--he sweats nitroglycerine and can ignite it to create explosions--except we know the stuff put down on the Quirk registry or how people describe their quirks to others is rarely fully accurate and usually highly simplified. There is no reason for any sane engineer to assume they had enough accurate information to create any sort of support gear that is meant to interact with a quirk as potentially volatile as Bakugou's without it being liable to blow up and potentially take off Bakugou's arm. Did they even have a sample of Bakugou's sweat to work with or did they just assume it was exactly the same as regular nitroglycerine? How did they live-test it to make sure it would redirect the blast safely? Not to mention quirks casually defy the laws of physics so you'd need to do a lot of testing just to figure out how the quirk would actually interact with the support gear in reality.
Support gear is likely highly personalized to each individual's quirk and needs, and its development would probably involve the hero and inventor working closely together, especially for more complex or dangerous quirks. It'd be a lot of trial and error, figuring out the finer points of how the quirk works, testing how interacts with the gear and refining it. Considering the amount of intimate knowledge of the hero's quirk and access to their literal life-saving equipment they have, the folks who create and maintain support gear must hold highly trusted and respected positions in the hero industry. Something as advanced as Bakugou's gauntlets couldn't just be casually commissioned the same way you could sturdier boots or a grappling hook. It'd take time and cooperation to design which, considering how UA has a Support track likely is what second and third years do--pair up with people in the support course to create their more advanced equipment together as an act of both cooperation and networking, likely with someone from the Management course to make sure the designs are marketable. But that makes it even crazier that the first version of Bakugou's costume, which is essentially a prototype based off of the concept design submitted by the hero student, should have powerful specialized support equipment that would have taken a lot of time and a conscious decision to include for a hero student the designer hadn't even met--I'm just saying it feels like a mix-up that should've happened later in the year when stuff is being added and upgraded to the hero costumes and something that dangerous that could've more easily slipped by.
And expecting Bakugou, a teenager, to just... know how to use such dangerous support equipment safely without practice, let alone responsibly, is fucking insane. For sure Bakugou was in the wrong for multiple reasons; he showed no restraint and acted against his teacher's orders during a live combat exercise, he was aiming to hurt, maybe even kill Izuku rather than stay within the parameters of the exercise, and we know that Bakugou knew how dangerous his gauntlets were--but just as easily a different student given that sort of equipment without training could have killed someone on accident because they didn't realize how outright lethal their cool costume idea was. Even if Bakugou can use his quirk safely and with restraint, that took practice, practice he hadn't had with his gauntlets and should've had before using them outside a controlled environment. If there's a lawsuit happening from the Iidas about Tenya's injuries, the first on the chopping block should be whoever the fuck gave that sort of untested, destructive support gear to a goddamn first year.
Also did you know in canon that support gear is often inaccessible to the average civilian because it's so tightly regulated and tied to the hero industry even when it could help with disabilities both mundane and quirk-based? That's how absurd Bakugou having those gauntlets is.
I also wanted to say your take on Aizawa and his bad teaching is very refreshing. I like him in canon well-enough--I like good teacher!Aizawa fanfic even better--but he's such a horrid teacher who seems to resent the fact that the teenagers in school to become heroes need like... to be taught how to be heroes and then keeps projecting his trauma onto them. Which might be interesting if the canon narrative didn't like to pretend his shitty teaching was brilliant somehow and that it's Izuku's fault for not trusting adults for help or struggling with his Quirk.
Firstly, thank you for enjoying the universe! I'm enjoying writing it!
Secondly! Flat out the approval of Bakugou's gauntlets (and honestly of some of the other 1-A costumes) raises a lot of questions about how much effort UA actually put into checking over the kids' stuff in general. Momo's costume is the only one we know of for sure had discussion around it, and that's because the earlier (skimpier) designs she wanted literally were violating a law. The gauntlets being approved was insane. If nothing else, you shouldn't be including something like that in a prototype costume because these kids are literally just starting out in their training. You shouldn't be assuming these kids know how to use anything equipment-wise, let alone something as specialized (and likely expensive to have made) as the gauntlets. But yeah whoever approves the costumes deserves a sharp smack upside the head, especially when you realize it's likely the same person who approved Hagakure's costume basically being just gloves and shoes since I don't think we're told until *Mirio* pops up more than halfway through the school year that the DNA costume thing is a thing, and that's the only real way they'd be able to do something for her.
Also, why doesn't UA shell out that the students who's Quirk don't 'go' with regular clothes [size changers, intangibility, invisibility, etc] can still at least have gym clothes that do the DNA cloth thing? Literally the very first interaction between Mirio and 1-A involves him *flashing* everyone. Are you really telling me they can't put the resources towards giving him a few pieces of gym clothes so that's not an issue!? He's most likely ended up naked on national TV on at least three occasions (the Sports Festivals). Why is this not deemed a problem!?
There's a reason after all I had the jab in FtE over Mirio finally being able to keep his pants on.
Aizawa is interesting to write in the Sticks and Stones universe, since also how other people are now viewing him is getting fun. For one thing, as will get revealed in an upcoming chapter, some people are starting to speculate that he had a different, unsaid reasoning for his stunt; namely that he was *trying* to get himself fired from UA with the expulsion stuff, but widely misguessed just how things would go.

Why Introductory Microeconomics is Key to Everyday Decision-Making
Microeconomics isn't just about graphs, equations, or market analysis—it’s a lens through which we can better understand the world and make more informed decisions. The lessons from Introductory Microeconomics extend far beyond textbooks, offering practical tools for solving real-life problems. Let’s dive into why this subject is vital and how it helps you make smarter choices every day.
Tumblr media
Scarcity and Prioritization: The Foundation of Decision-Making
At its heart, microeconomics is built on the concept of scarcity—limited resources versus unlimited desires. This reality forces us to prioritize. For instance, with a limited monthly budget, you must decide whether to spend on essentials, save for future needs, or splurge on luxuries.
Microeconomics introduces the concept of opportunity cost, which ensures you evaluate the trade-offs. For example:
Choosing to spend â‚č500 on a movie means you forgo using that amount for dining out or saving it. Understanding this cost helps you weigh your decisions and align them with your long-term goals.
Valuable Microeconomic Principles for Everyday Life
1. Maximizing Satisfaction (Utility)
Have you noticed how your enjoyment of something diminishes with repetition? This is explained by the law of diminishing marginal utility. The first cup of coffee in the morning is invigorating, but the third or fourth might feel unnecessary. Recognizing this helps you focus on what truly adds value to your life instead of overspending on diminishing returns.
2. Optimizing Resource Allocation
Microeconomics teaches us to optimize resources, whether it’s money, time, or energy.
Money: You can use cost-benefit analysis to ensure each rupee spent provides maximum benefit.
Time: By evaluating the marginal benefit of an extra hour spent on work versus relaxation, you can balance productivity and well-being.
3. Timing Purchases with Supply and Demand
Prices fluctuate based on supply and demand dynamics. By understanding these patterns, you can time your purchases to save money. For instance:
Buy winter clothes during end-of-season sales when supply exceeds demand.
Avoid traveling during peak seasons when high demand inflates ticket prices.
Making Smarter Choices in a Market Economy
Microeconomics isn’t just personal—it’s a guide to understanding how markets and governments interact. Consider these valuable insights:
Government Policies: Subsidies or taxes impact the cost of goods. For example, a government tax on sugar-laden drinks may encourage healthier choices.
Externalities: Decisions like using public transport instead of driving can reduce negative externalities like pollution, benefiting society as a whole.
By studying Introductory Microeconomics, you become more aware of these interactions, enabling you to make choices that align with your values and societal goals.
Behavioral Insights: Overcoming Decision-Making Biases
Microeconomics also integrates behavioral economics, which sheds light on irrational decisions we often make. For instance:
Anchoring Effect: A product priced at â‚č999 instead of â‚č1,000 feels cheaper, even though the difference is negligible.
Loss Aversion: People fear losses more than they value equivalent gains, often leading to suboptimal decisions.
Being aware of these biases can help you resist marketing tricks and focus on rational, value-driven choices.
Practical Benefits of Studying Introductory Microeconomics
Improved Financial Planning: From budgeting to investing, microeconomics helps you allocate your income wisely and plan for future needs.
Enhanced Analytical Thinking: You learn to approach problems logically, assess trade-offs, and predict outcomes.
Informed Consumer Decisions: Understanding market trends and pricing strategies empowers you to be a smarter shopper.
Career Growth: The principles of microeconomics are essential in fields like business, finance, public policy, and entrepreneurship.
Conclusion: A Lifelong Skillset
Introductory Microeconomics is more than an academic subject—it’s a toolkit for navigating life. By mastering its principles, you can optimize your resources, avoid common decision-making errors, and contribute meaningfully to both your personal goals and societal welfare. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or a consumer, microeconomics empowers you to make choices that truly matter.

I do agree with the general statement of your post (that is, products should include warnings). I also thank you for acknowledging that seizures can cause death. I'm in the epilepsy community (although I am not photosensitive myself) and I can not stress how much negative pushback we've gotten from some spiderverse fans just for pointing out that a seizure could lead to death.
I will argue though that with spiderverse in particular, I think it was negligent on the part of the creators and studio to release those films as it currently is. People can be diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy at any age but is especially common at the age between 7-19. The spiderverse films are a mainstream product primarily aimed at that age group. No matter what kind of warnings there are for the film, kids that age will probably not know if they are photosensitive until they are watching the film and have a seizure in a public place.
I also find that the inaccessibility of the films to photosensitive people completely undercuts the films inclusive nature. Like I have never before seen so many arguments that "art isn't supposed to be accessible for everyone" and that photosensitive people should just deal with being locked out of the conversation until these films. Not foing to lie, it's a little hurtful seeing it come from the wider disability community too.
i don't really have a response to the point re: it being mainstream and targeted towards a young audience; i think it's definitely a discussion to have, but overall i think that the phenomenon of targeting age demographics as marketing demographics is a bad one, which only evolved for monetary purposes, and the idea that age is a good predictor for taste in art and preferred complexity of topics is fundamentally flawed. essentially: yeah, i get you, but the angle i'm coming at this from is that we should really stop ~marketing media towards minors or adults~ to begin with and let the content of the art stand on its own.
re: inclusiveness: i also get you, but like. any art whose message is inclusiveness is going to intentionally exclude a significant portion of disabled people. there is no possible way for a piece of art to be accessible to all disabled people, because disability is such a broad category that every single access need directly conflicts with at least one other access need, possibly dozens.
i tend to prefer that artists openly reckon with which disabilities they're excluding from access to their art and why. i know it's an uncomfortable thing to reckon with, but like... the idea that all art has the chance to be equally accessible to all people and the only reason it isn't is lack of effort re: inclusion on the artist's part... is just a straight up lie. there isn't any way to reconcile two directly conflicting access needs, much less dozens of directly conflicting access needs, so rather than push that under the rug and act like some access needs are superior and as long as they're fulfilled the art is blanket "accessible" to all, i would much rather artists openly discuss what groups of disabled people they are prioritizing in accessibility and why.
(in the case of spiderverse movies in particular: back when the first one came out years ago, i engaged with some talk in some smaller low-vision spaces about the film's bright colors and overall eye-strain being actually more accessible to some individuals, because it made it easier for them to see the broad shapes and movements than most movies at the time. directly conflicting needs. while it's almost definitely unintentional on the spiderverse team's part, i would rather them know about it and grapple with the difficult decision of who to include vs. exclude publicly, rather than sweep the whole thing under the rug or act like one group's accessibility needs are obviously more important than the others.)
like... it's a difficult conversation to have, because i genuinely have a lot of empathy for being permanently locked out of engaging with a piece of art that i love a lot because of its inaccessible nature (i have a couple of different video game series that i love and Can Never Play, and i also can't mod them to make them easier to play, because the ways they're inaccessible to me are the fundamental point of the art). but i also at the same time have to balance that with my material experience of being a person whose access needs directly and 100% conflict with other disabled people's access needs, the material experience of understanding very firsthand that there is no possible way for some art to be accessible to me, ever, even in a world where everyone cared about accessibility, because other disabled people exist too. and like. idk! it's a weird fucking emotional space to be in! i at the very least would like for everyone involved to tackle it head-on, instead of playing the game we currently seem to be playing where 1) mainstream artists do not grapple with these concepts at all, nor do they clearly label which disability needs are included vs. excluded in any of their art, 2) we in disability spaces act like there is one universal measure of "accessibility in art" and if you are excluded by that measure then your needs are not from genuine disability or your disability simply is not included in disability activism.

Why you think Jk was more marketable than Jimin? I mean Jimin was always the most popular in the USA overall plus UK, France Korea and Japan.
Also another question is should we be worried about Jimin future career in Hybe? What do you think is gonna go from here? Because they clearly see him as a competition and just want JK to be the most successful.
oh no I definitely agree with you on jimin being more popular in those countries especially in the us, but I meant in terms of image. scooter found jb 2.0 in jk and since jb was super successful, rehashing that for an already popular boy band member should be a walk in the park in theory. jimin, on the other hand, does not fit that at all. he’s not a “bad boy”, has his own artistic vision and identity and he’s not malleable. he’s not the type to sit back and let someone dictate what to do with his music.
regarding jimin’s future in hybe, I don’t think we should be worried necessarily? I respect his decision to renew and staying in bts. I’ve never had an issue with that but I’m not gonna act like I wish he didn’t have another option to go to. realistically though, there’s no other company that’s gonna allow him artistic autonomy or for him to get paid fairly so it is what it is.
hybe is trying to show investors that hybe america is worth it and considering that jk is their first real venture into proving that, they’re gonna have to upkeep on what they managed to pull for his debut or it’s gonna seem like a fluke. it’ll be just as expensive probably even more so, but in the long run it’s gonna end up really crippling them. with their goal to keep jk the most “successful” in the group, Im not gonna bet on them improving his label aid tbh. but even with the negligence, jimin still pulled impressive numbers and he has gained a lot more dedicated fans since face era. that lc cd they restocked yesterday without notice managed to sell out in in just 5 minutes while the other restocks are still available. so the demand is clearly there. we’re just gonna have to work hard for him when pjm2 drops.

Okay first a disclaimer: you are not getting my opinion on the judicial merit of Tumblr's recent, uh... decision making. Call me back when I'm on jury. If I am on a jury, call me back when I've seen both sides' lawyers present their cases. 'til then, you are not catching my ass joining any lynch mobs.
With that out of the way, those photomatt DMs (forgive me for not having a source for 'em, thanks search function, but y'know, the "why don't you help improve the website instead of complaining, I'm not butthurt you're butthurt" ones) reminded me of this older Folding Ideas video:
youtube
Like, c'mon buddy. You gotta step back for a bit here; Tumblr is a machine for concentrating and disseminating opinions. Any website of its size is, by the law of large numbers, going to have some non-negligible fraction of its userbase who are just pissed off for whatever reason. You are not going to achieve anything by trying to engage in haughty debate with any of them, any more than the CEO of Walmart is going to improve the shopping experience in their stores by standing at the checkout line and getting into arguments with the customers being rude to cashiers. Maybe the customer was just having a bad day, maybe the cashier is a jerk, or maybe you're justified. Doesn't change the fact that arguing with angry people is a good way to build a bad reputation, and it doesn't change the fact that you have seven hundred other stores completely unaffected by your attempts at one-on-one. Now everyone hates you, and you haven't even done anything to deal with 99.99% of the rude customers.
Tumblr is not going to me made profitable by convincing individuals that their grievances are misplaced, even if they are. (And if they aren't, boy do you look like a jackass.) If Tumblr is going to be profitable, you gotta start doing some damn market research to figure out what your damn goals are. The tide raises all ships, but lone waves only rock the boat.

In principle, it should be easy for a country with fewer than 20 million people and abundant natural resources to get to high income and sustain this status. Kazakhstan has 22 million hectares of arable land—more than all but 14 countries in the world, the second-largest uranium reserves, the twelfth-largest oil wealth, and the fifteenth-largest natural gas reserves. This is a wealthy country with a great people.
So why hasn’t Kazakhstan become a high-income economy? More accurately, why didn’t it become one after rising very closely to what the World Bank considers high-income levels of more than $12,500 in 2014?
Observe first what sets Kazakhstan apart from the three dozen OECD countries that have reached high income. There are three main issues:
Dependence on natural resources
Distant location and
Dispersed population.
Because of this unique combination, Kazakhstan will have to devise its own development strategy. It can’t just copy someone else’s like Singapore did with Hong Kong China or South Korea did with Japan. The need for this tailored strategy is urgent as Kazakhstan’s economy has grown at a slower pace after each slowdown. Its per capita income grew by nearly 10 percent between 2000 and 2007, by 4 percent between 2010 and 2014, and by 3.5 percent between 2016 and 2019. During 2020-2022, the economy grew by 2.3 percent and this year, 2023, we expect per-capita income to grow by about 3.5-4 percent. Further, once you take out the effect of investment and employment increases, growth is close to zero. That is to say, productivity growth has been negligible since 2008. This is a visible symptom that Kazakhstan’s structural transformation has stalled, so has its sectoral transformation, and so has its spatial transformation.
A recent report by the World Bank shows a tight three-way relationship between a country’s per-capita income, the sectoral composition of its output, and the share of its urban population. The report shows that per capita income has grown mostly when the prices of its commodity exports have happened to be high. This is not a bad thing—there are other resource-rich countries where even this hasn’t happened. But it does mean that Kazakhstan’s fortunes are mainly decided by the international commodity markets rather than its industries and people. This is not a good thing.
Further, Kazakhstan’s production structure has not changed much. The share of mining in GDP has remained broadly unchanged at 14 percent since 2000. Manufacturing’s contribution to GDP has been static since 2004 at 13 percent GDP. Commodity exports are broadly stable accounting for more than 80 percent of total shipments abroad.
Finally, the share of the urban population has stayed at around 58 percent for the last twenty years. In 2008, it was a little less than 57 percent. In 2020, it was a little less than 58 percent.
Figure 1. Stagnant urbanization in Kazakhstan: urban share of the population, 2006–2020
Tumblr media
Economic dynamism has been stymied in Kazakhstan. There are several reasons for this outcome:
The dominance of state-owned and state-connected enterprises means that production is being carried out in places that are not the best for these activities; goods are produced in places far from markets or with methods that should have changed a long time ago.
Another problem is low economic freedom for people and private firms. By definition, this has to be the decision of government. If a government trusts its citizens, it gives them freedom. Economic freedom may be the least controversial freedom to give.
Kazakhstan has made it hard for firms to both start and to shut down if they are not viable. Just as education is the grease that keeps individuals moving to better-paying jobs and places, competition is the grease that pushes firms to be more productive and innovative. The competition regime in Kazakhstan has not been improving; if anything, it may have gone backward.
The population density is 6 people per square kilometer. Mobility toward urban areas is dampened by high housing costs, a severely limited rental market, and the residency registration system. In the highest-demand urban areas, housing is extremely unaffordable when compared with local incomes. Housing subsidies and legacy policies contribute to one of the highest homeownership rates in the world. Finally, the residency registration system deters many people from relocating within the country, as benefits are tied to where a person is registered. For those who are unregistered, the system can lead to exclusion from many social services and benefits.
Perhaps the greatest driver of mobility—spatial, sectoral, and social—is good-quality education. Education quality is poor for a country on the doorstep of high-income. About 60 percent of 14-year-olds are functionally illiterate, the third highest percentage in Europe and Central Asia (ECA).
While these are daunting challenges, there are signs of hope.
The first is that a new e-governance system has simplified resident registration. But advanced economies do not have resident registration and Kazakhstan should consider discontinuing it.
There are signs of growing spatial concentration of manufacturing, especially near the borders and near Almaty and Astana. It is heartening to note that regions with higher population densities respond to shocks better than remote sparse places.
Kazakhstan’s territorial development strategy has some good features. Two of them are an emphasis on providing basic services everywhere and recognizing that big cities are the best way to improve both economic efficiency and living standards.
But Kazakhstan has a long way to go. Its three largest urban areas account for less than 25 percent of the GDP; in developed economies, this averages close to 50 percent.
But urban productivity trends are going into reverse. To counter these reversals, Kazakhstan should contemplate empowering subnational governments more by investing in their capacity and giving them more autonomy in decisionmaking.
One more change may be to stop subsidizing monotowns, an artifact of Soviet planning. Instead, the government should be thinking of creating regional and city development fund that finances local economic development programs that are implemented by subnational governments.
While there may be significant temptation to build infrastructure, economic zones, and urban structures to bolster the economy, policymakers should resist the temptation to first pour concrete. Advancing market reforms should be the first and foremost order of business.

well i
finished act 5 act 2. gonna have to rewatch cascade a bunch of times and probably read the act summary on the wiki but i have officially reached the end of the act
still enjoying it a lot but it’s getting harder and harder to read. summing up a rant i gave my friend, i’m not super in love with the sense of predestined futility - or more accurately, i don’t feel that the narrative has properly addressed that yet and justified why i should be reading about these characters who were like 100x doomed from the start.
there are so many characters and so much happening that nothing is lingered upon, which is nice pacing-wise but not so nice emotional-impact-wise. i also think the “everybody dies a bajillion times and it’s fine until all of a sudden it’s not” thing works against it in a sense, especially when the narrative doesn’t stop to mourn anyone who’s actually dead, bc by the time you realize hey wait maybe like. vriska or dad or feferi/nepeta/equius etc are dead for real it’s been like 200+ pages and you’re like well ok. what do i do here exactly.
and i know that that’s an intentional choice hussie made for how he wanted to craft his narrative - im wishing for things that he deliberately chose not to give. im not trying to say that these choices are flaws in his writing, just that as an audience member i tend to prefer the tlt method of dealing with death, where one main character dies and then the entire next book is about another ripping herself apart because of it.
im not giving up by any means, or even saying that this is what’s dominating my reading experience. like i said im still enjoying myself and appreciate most of the creative decisions that hussie is making. it can just feel very draining i suppose, watching these characters i’ve come to care about - almost all of whom are literal children - fighting so hard so futilely, and so far, imo the narrative hasn’t paid that off. however, with that out of the way, here are (some of, bc this shit was long as hell) my thoughts on the act, more or less in order:
i have literally no interest in johnkat. probably partially bc my friend is so into davekat that ive been conditioned to just wait for that to happen but also bc they have no chemistry. sorry to any johnkat shippers out there but idc it’s boring
i have slightly more but still negligible interest in john/vriska. probably bc i
don’t really care about john. sorry to any john stans out there but idc he’s boring
karkat and terezi sharing a keyboard to argue my beloved
rose my beloved. but also. sweetie :/
vriska my beloved. but also. SWEETIE :/
kanaya my beloved. you’re doing great no notes
oh yeah dave and terezi manipulated the stock market. still don’t 100% understand that but whatever good for them
yeah ok the dream bubbles. christ. like ok i GET it but they’re still annoying
i love jade’s dynamic with karkat she really goes from “teehee im just a silly little girl haha” to “im going to eviscerate this motherfucker”
bec prototyping himself was genuinely such a good reveal
is it just me or is john's power like. way lamer than the other kids' lmao. like it's still cool, def better than nothing, but come on
not too much to say abt the exiles but i love them
also with all the fucking timeline bullshit that's going on i literally can't wait to reach the end and reread with the uhsc mod that lets you follow a specific person's timeline. i canNOT keep track of what's happening when for who
it is literally so funny that vriska has been the cause of jade's narcolepsy this entire time. like wow girl you really took the opportunity to be a massive dick to her huh
LET'S BE SANTA
frogs. ok sure. why not.
fuck doc scratch all my homies hate doc scratch. i will say though. he is a fantastic character.
holy shit eridan and gamzee snapping and killing like everyone. that was buckwild what the fuck. not gonna lie idc that equius is dead, and nepeta, feferi, and tavros were never my faves. but got damn it sucks that they're dead. (ostensibly. still not one thousand percent convinced)
sad karkat :(
murderous kanaya :D
WV "DRIVING" AHHHH
oh god the ancestors. sorry but i simply do not care about that shit. like i know that they're actually relevant but. :/
also i don't like the trope of chains of events being echoed across generations. like damn get your own plot. also it ties into that determinism and futility that i'm grappling with
i will say though. mindfang mentally thanking redglare for taking her arm because then her battle against his honorable tyranny because it made it "a fair fight"? hot. i'm brave enough to say it.
aradia is cool as fuck. i wish we got more of her/her personality
aradia's ancestor is also cool as fuck. sucks that literally nothing she did to resist her fate worked or mattered
the scratch stuff is genuinely interesting narratively/in terms of a plot device. again it still sucks that the beta kids aren't actually going to get to win the game themselves. like i assume they'll be talking to/guiding the alpha kids but like. god it's so unfairrr i bet there'll be angst about this
rose going grimdark is so fun. also LMAO john trying to chat with her in that flash game portion
TEREZI god i love her. sucks that she killed vriska tho bc i love her and also i ship them. oh well murder is not necessarily a roadblock to them getting together. troll romance sure is weird. i have hope in my heart.
vriska isn't dead forever bc no she isnt <3
the betty crocker shit. is funny. and also stupid as hell.
SAD KARKAT :((
ok i guess the stuff about karkat's ancestor and the history of the troll race is kinda interesting. whatever.
everyone's in love/hate with gamzee all of a sudden?? literally why. troll romance sure is FUCKING confusing
that was a pretty anticlimactic climax to the gamzee situation, gotta say
cascade was confusing as fuck i don't have thoughts on it yet
so yeah that's it! if you're still reading, why? let me know what your thoughts on act 5 act 2 were when you read it, or your thoughts on my thoughts lol. just pls no spoilers for anything past cascade!!

i notice you reblogged this in such a way that it cuts the version of this post that's actually going around that addresses a lot of what you say here. i'm going to assume that this was not done purposefully and i will explain again.
yes, the second person had a disability, but he was fully aware of his health condition and avoided energy drinks because of it. he lived independently and worked a job, as do many people with similar disabilities, and was capable of making these kinds of decisions. the panera he went to, at the time, had no signage indicating the level of caffeine in the drink -- which was nearly the entire recommended daily dose in one large drink, a drink they served in self-service fountains that enabled virtually unlimited free refills. that is corporate neglect that led to someone's death, someone who was a responsible consumer and would have almost definitely avoided the drink if panera had done their due diligence.
the second person who died was ALSO aware of her condition and avoided caffeine. the issue isn't that the drinks had caffeine and two caffeine sensitive people drank them anyway. the point is that they have a drink with a VERY HIGH level of caffeine per single large drink and did NOT have adequate signage or customer information, so people who were otherwise responsible about their caffeine consumption were not sufficiently informed about the risk they were taking with their health, a risk neither person likely would have taken. neither mr. brown nor ms. katz drank caffeinated drinks due to their responsible level of self-care, so it can only be assumed panera failed to sufficiently inform them, and that this could cause similar problems for anyone else with a similar condition. so yes, in that respect, panera did in fact cause multiple deaths. that's not hyperbole, that's basic cause and effect.
this isn't about outrage for the sake of outrage. it is about making sure that companies are not being lazy in matters that can cost consumers their lives. it benefits you, and me and everyone else who participates in society for companies to not play fast and loose with substances, coffee temperature, food safety regulations etc. maybe it doesn't benefit panera or mcdonalds, but their bottoms lines will survive. and i don't really like the notion that "just two people" dying is negligible. this drink hit the market last year. two known deaths in a single year from the same food chain, with the same product? there have been recalls for less.
ok im already starting to see other people point out that joking about panera's neglect killing multiple people with heart problems through that lemonade is probably bad and doing footwork for a corporation being sued for said neglect maybe im not ridiculous

Principles of purchasing ERG coins
When buying ERG coins (or any other cryptocurrency), following some basic principles can help you make smarter decisions and reduce risks. Here are some principles to follow when buying ERG coins:
Fully understand: Before buying, deeply understand the background, project team, technical characteristics, application scenarios, market prospects, etc. of ERG coins.
Study the white paper, roadmap, community activities and media reports of ERG coins to have a comprehensive understanding of it.
Risk management: The cryptocurrency market is volatile, so buying ERG coins should be regarded as a risky investment. Set a clear stop loss point, that is, when the price falls to a certain level, sell it in time to avoid greater losses. Don't invest more than you can afford to invest, so as not to affect your daily life and financial situation.
Diversify your investment: Don't concentrate all your funds on one cryptocurrency, but diversify your investment to reduce the risk of a single asset. Consider spreading your funds across multiple different cryptocurrencies, blockchain projects or asset classes.
Choose a suitable trading platform: Choose a safe, reliable and reputable trading platform for trading. Make sure the trading platform supports ERG coin trading and understand the fee structure, trading restrictions and customer service of the trading platform.
Be cautious in trading: When trading, be cautious to avoid losing money due to negligence or mistakes. Before making large transactions, it is best to make small test transactions to ensure that you have a full understanding of the operation and process of the trading platform.
Continuous learning and attention: The cryptocurrency market and technology are constantly developing and changing, so you should continue to learn new knowledge and technical trends. Pay attention to the project progress, market trends and competitors of ERG coins so that you can adjust your investment strategy in time.
Protect account security: Ensure that your trading platform account and password are safe and do not disclose your password to others. Use strong passwords, two-factor authentication and other security measures to protect your account. Check your account transaction records regularly to detect and deal with any abnormal or suspicious activities in a timely manner.
Rational investment: Avoid blindly following the trend or listening to rumors to invest. Formulate investment strategies based on your risk tolerance and investment goals. Stay calm and rational, and don't make impulsive decisions due to short-term price fluctuations.
Following these principles can help you make smarter decisions when buying ERG coins and reduce investment risks. But remember that the cryptocurrency market has greater uncertainty and risk, so investment should be cautious.

Makar Sankranti 2025: Effects for All Zodiac Signs
Tumblr media
Makar Sankranti, which will take place on January 14, 2025, at precisely 9:46 AM IST, represents the time when the Sun enters the sign of Capricorn or Makar Rashi. A transition transforms our energies, making it a time for introspection and development. This transition has different impacts on each of the Zodiacs, with the most notable changes being experienced in career, health, business, marital life, and the stock market. Below are the specific impacts for each influence with a corresponding set of dos and don'ts to help you cope with the astrological effects of the period.
Aries (Mesh Rashi)
Key Strength:
Career growth is the talk of the house. As the Sun enters your tenth house of Career and Public Image, your status is enhanced, giving you a greater incentive to work professionally. You might enjoy being in the spotlight, and if you aren't already, you may take up leadership positions in your company. On the other hand, this position can create troubles as per link- career astrology for you as this period causes many rifts. Most people are overworked because there is a high expectation of output, which often leads to power conflicts.
Marriage: Seriousness in relationships is bound to occur. Therefore, a balance has to be struck between work and personal life.
Health: As one becomes overworked, safety hazards are introduced to oneself. Efforts should be made to limit stress levels.
Career: Career recognition may be received, and the possibility of a salary raise exists, but arrogance should not be practised.
Business: New endeavours can be explored during this period, but discretion must be exercised and confrontations with business partners avoided.
Share Market: Of course, investing in link-share market for a long time is a wise strategy, but investors should tread carefully when making short-sighted decisions.
Dos:
Offer sesame seeds, jaggery, and mustard oil for better careers and psychological tranquillity.
Don'ts:
Do not engage in power tussles with authority figures or make hasty decisions without proper analysis.
Taurus (Vrishabh Rashi)
Key Influence:
The Sun energizes your 9th house of higher studies, travel, religion, or long journeys. This is an expanding period, but Saturn's influence may cause delays or obstructions in achieving goals set abroad or in higher education.
Marriage: Growing spiritually together may be possible, but take care not to misjudge issues connected with religious or spiritual differences.
Health: Be careful of the digestive system and avoid gluttony.
Career: Employment opportunities in education, research work, and travel abroad are possible. The Sun in the ninth house helps with link-the-best subject selection as per the birth chart for a successful career ahead.
Business: Prospects of doing business abroad may be rewarding, but problems may arise from working under commitment over a long period.
Share Market : One should be wary of investing in International stocks or the related education and technology regions.
Dos:
Offer wheat, ghee and saffron to bring fortune and richness.
Don'ts:
Avoid being dogmatic and negligent about professional advice regarding career or financial issues.
