Came home from a weekend away to find out that when the catsitter said she lost her key and had to call a locksmith, he didn’t just make a key to fit our lock. He REKEYED our door so our own keys don’t work 🙃🙃🙃

So, I've noticed the next door neighbours have been having trouble with their front door for a while now. I first noticed a week or so ago that the door is nothing short of a menace. I was outside the shop across the street and watched the neighbour spend a good couple of minutes just trying to get the door to stay shut so they could leave the house. This door hates them.

Anyway the point is my favourite thing today so far has been listening to my neighbour loudly wrestle with their door. First they couldn't close it, no matter how hard they tried. It just wouldn't stay closed.

It was just *click* *SLAM* *click* *SLAM* with increasing force for a good few minutes. The occasional *rattlerattlerattatt* from them jiggling the handles, a summoning to the barrier gods to Please Make This Lock Work DAMMIT! *RATTLE RATTLE*

I started being able to not just hear it, but feel the vibrations through our shared wall.

But, finally, it ceased, and I saw their silhouette sag and slink away to the shop across the road.

And they came back... and their keys weren't opening the door.

They went from trying the keys and the handle to RAMMING THE DOOR. I assume it was initially to get in, but then later to signal anyone in there to "get the door, please, hel p" It was LOUD. Just

All while I was trying my hardest not to let them hear my laughter at their door misfortunes. Misdoortunes.

as I'm writing this the neighbour who was desperately slamming their body on the door to be let in, just brought out the one who let them in to show them the issues with the door.

They're currently out there trying to get the door to close to demonstrate the problems with the door. It's really not closing guys.

Tips for Writing the Becile Bots

Copied from a write-up I did for someone, thought it could be useful for other people too! :)

As a whole they're dealing with a lot of trauma and that colors many of their actions, the big difference being in how they changed their worldview because of it. Most of them care a lot more about each other than they let on, except for Locksmith, who only really cares about The Jack (and even that doesn't stop Lock from manipulating him).

Hare tries to be funny in a prickly way as a sort of hurt-you-before-you-hurt-me defense. He has a sense of justice (and of having been wronged) but can be oblivious to things he's not actively looking out for.

The Skull is quick to annoy but long to anger-- he tries to remain impartial on the inside. He's direct but has the patience to play the long game. He'll be violent if need be (never to Scratch) but he doesn't relish it.

If you're writing about post-accident The Jack, there's always a method to the madness of what he's talking about. It's obfuscated but intentional. His 'violent tendencies' are triggered by anxiety, people getting in his space, bad memories, and he lashes out defensively. Post-repairs, he's melancholy and getting his "sea legs" back. He's not the peppy kid he used to be and he sort of mourns that person he never got to be.

Locksmith really is that shitty. He had a whole lifetime of being secretive and playing people for his benefit before he became a robot, and the trauma of being betrayed and locked up alone made him that much meaner.

Dee still deals with confusion and a sense of displacement, coupled together with a fear of the outside that hinders her growth. Anger is her safety net; it's the one thing she can use to repel things that invade her space and make her uncomfortable.

Riker coasts by for most of his life, not caring too much for himself. He gave up on his ambitions a long time ago, but he does pride himself on his engineering, so he doesn't usually skimp on the work for the Bots. Grumpy but still has a good heart under the depression.

Scratch is earnest and kind but carries a great weight that he tries to keep from the others. He wants things to be better, he knows that they can be, but he tends to overload himself. As he tries to get the Beciles to shape up, he's also learning self-preservation from them.
