yeah, i get what you're saying about IRL food chain stuff, but i don't think in Mel's world she would go THAT DEEP with sizes, specific situations, etc... (especially considering she doesn't seem to like doing research), that's why i used prey and predator in a very generalized way
I also noticed how the only "good" predator character is Nicole...
Also in this whole thing, where humans fall under this whole thing? Are they prey? Predator? Something else?? None???
Yeah, I highly doubt Mel would.
I mean... The only "good" predators I know of for Shadows Colours are Nicole, Archer, and Sean. (yeah, believe it or not, ferrets are predators, they might not look like it, but they were evolved to hunt, and I guess AK-47 would count considering he's a hybrid between a dingo and a goatasus, making him partially a predator.)
I'm not really sure where humans would fall under considering IRL we are basically predators, but apparently in this universe, there's more goatasi than humans, so humans might either be prey or something else because I legit don't think Mel thought that through, because really, the only two humans we've seen other than the gods are Nectarine and Plum.

It's skin care Sunday bitches!
What're we doing to pamper ourselves?
First and foremost, for all of my fellow sensitive skin/rosacea babies, I have to share the wonder that is the Nelly de Vuyst sensitive skin line. Nelly is a Belgian brand and the price point is a bit high, but they have all these kits that are much more worth it to buy because it has like, the face wash and the serum and the moisturizer AND an exfoliant for the price that you would pay for just like, two of those products.
I've been having some rosacea flare ups lately, no doubt due to stress and the dryness of long flights, but their sensitive skin line has me glowing. I love. Today I did a very gentle exfoliant, and the sensitive skin extract oil which I massaged in with my gua sha. My rosemary oil hair mask will follow soon.
Now:
Talk to me about Weleda. Skin food? Other products? Does anybody use it? I feel like it's all the trend on social media but I've never tried any of it.
Fragrance. Man, I really want a perfume that is so iconically me and I just can't find one. I like heavier, spicier scents--but my skin is very acidic, and those scents never smell nice on me. I'm intrigued by Aesop. I wish Diptyque was a thing in Canada but I can't find it anywhere. Solid perfumes are easier because of travel, but I'll take anything at this point. Right now I wear a mix of Jo Malone--Wood Sage & Sea Salt combined with Nectarine and Honey Blossom. It's okay, just nothing special. I want a stranger to stop me and tell me I smell good.
Rare Beauty. I needed a hit of dopamine so I ordered some stuff from Sephora, not least of which is the Rare Beauty cream blush. My dry skin loves cream/balm blushes. Anybody ever tried it?

One of my vices is eating apple seeds and peach pits. They taste really good, but you’re not supposed to eat them because they contain cyanide. Forbidden fruit.
At least in my experience they are not immediately lethal, but some guy on reddit told me that the chronic cyanide exposure will slowly cripple my nervous system and my thyroid. I guess part of the problem is that the amygdalin content varies a lot between different species, so it’s a russian roulette. Even different Rosaceae species vary by 100x:
Green Plum had the highest mean amygdalin content (17.5 mg/g) followed by Apricot (14.4 mg/g), Black Plum (10 mg/g), Peach (6.8 mg/g), Red Cherry (3.9 mg/g) and Black Cherry (2.7 mg/g). Amygdalin contents of Purple, Yellow and Red Plums were 2.16, 1.54 and 0.44 mg/g respectively. Nectarine had the lowest amygdalin content (0.1 mg/g) among the stone fruit seeds analysed. The amygdalin content of stone fruit seeds could produce cyanide in the range of 0.01 - 1.1 mg cyanide equivalents/g; this value is relatively high. Thus, ingestion of the kernels either intentionally or accidentally could result in acute or sub-acute health problems (Akyildiz, Kurtoğlu, Kondolot, & Tunç, 2010; Cigolini, Ricci, Zannoni, Codogni, Luca, Perfetti, & Giampaolo, 2011) especially if taking place over prolong periods of time.
According to this report, lethal cyanide doses in humans are around 0.5 - 3.5 mg/kg body weight, while the threshold of acute toxicity should be taken to be 0.1 mg/kg bw. Thus a few grams of apricot kernel could be acutely toxic to an adult. There are reports of even higher cyanide contents, up to 3.8 mg/g, in which case even a single kernel could be acutely dangerous. On the other hand, it should be fine to snack on those nectarines...
The CDC recommended limit for repeated cyanide exposure is 0.05 mg/kg bw/day, which is probably exceeded by one kernel. I guess it’s a sometime food. The above report also said
In a bioavailability study, a group of 12 healthy adult volunteers consumed CNGs corresponding to 6.8 mg cyanide from a number of different sources including bitter apricot kernels.
Healthy adult volunteers can have a little peach pit? As a treat?

Fruits of Calabria: The Merendella Peach
Merendella peach is a real delight: small size, smooth white skin tending to green with some pinkish streaks, very sweet and fragrant pulp with a vague hint of honey and citrus fruits.
It is a prized variety of nectarine peach, fruit of the Prunus persica, a tree of the Rosaceae family. The peach was already known in antiquity for the beauty of its flowers and the goodness of its fruits.
MERENDELLA, A HISTORICAL FRUIT OF CALABRIA
The Calabrian name of the small peach comes from “merenda”, a Latin term that could come either from meridies of from noon, just to indicate a quick meal to replace lunch, or from the verb “merere”, meaning to deserve or meaning the snack as a meal granted to subordinates following particular working merits.
We find the same meaning in the Greek language, meris which means part.
The merendella peach also exists in Sicily and is called “sbergia”, but the Calabrian variety, particularly widespread in the Lamezia area and Catanzaro, has special characteristics as described above, probably due to the natural habitat of the territory.
It reaches maturity between mid-July and August, a period in which it can be found at local markets. instead, it is difficult to find it outside the region, as it is a very delicate and complicated fruit to transport.

Fire blight pear tree
#FIRE BLIGHT PEAR TREE FREE#
The average person is unlikely to notice these early signs of fireblight but an arborist can catch them. If not caught promptly, then the above symptoms will appear. It is most likely that the bacteria causing fireblight enter your Bradford pear trees through the natural openings like nectaries or stomatas, blossoms, or wounds. You may be able to catch fireblight in the early stages if you notice water-soaked spots that are dark green and found on the tissue that has been affected. It is also common to spot cankers, those areas of bark that is dead and sunken, on the branches of infected Bradford pear trees, particularly in the areas where large branches connect with infected shoots. During this short time with active spread, the outer wood of your pear tree will be a foxy brown shade if you peel back the infected brown. Eventually, the infection will spread along the inner bark, at which point the shoots can shrivel up and die. When the weather is wet, infections in the tree may produce a white liquid that is slimy. If it is flowering time and your blossoms wilt and die, this is a good indication. How To Tell Your Tree Has FireblightĪn arborist can easily diagnose your Bradford pear tree with fireblight, but the average person will be able to spot many of the signs that indicate this may be a problem. The infection’s severity is affected by things like insects, wounds, humidity, and temperature. The infection can spread incredibly quickly in the right conditions, traveling as much as two inches each day. The bacteria that cause fireblight are typically spread by insects like bees or wind-blown rain. The bacterium causes fireblight when it gets into the inner bark of the tree, which it typically does through the blossoms of the tree. Fireblight won’t affect stone fruits like peaches, nectarines, cherries, or plums, just those within the family of Rosaceae and sub-family Pomoideae.įireblight is native to the North American continent but has actually spread to some other areas. It is caused by a bacterium and typically occurs between late spring and autumn. The result is a tree or plant that looks as if it has been scorched by fire, giving this disease its name. It also affects apples and other related ornamental trees. Simply put, fireblight is a type of bacterial disease that will kill the shoot of your pears. Austin residents love growing Bradford pear trees since they do well in this climate and produce delicious fruit, but one of the most common issues affecting them is fireblight. This is particularly important on fruit trees since you likely want to consume the fruit and that isn’t possible if the tree is unhealthy to the point where it simply doesn’t grow.
#FIRE BLIGHT PEAR TREE FREE#
No matter the type of trees you have on your Austin property, you need to pay close attention to them and ensure that they are healthy and free from both disease and infestations. Braddy JBlog Comments Off on Fireblight And Bradford Pears

Ronald Reagan, when President of the United States of America, proclaimed August 1CPeach Month 1D and called upon the people of the United States to incorporate this nutritious fruit into their diets, and call upon interested groups to celebrate this month with appropriate programs and activities. Filed with the Office of the Federal Register, 11:05 a.m., June 16, 1982.
The peach (Prunus persica) is a species of Prunus native to China that bears an edible juicy fruit also called a peach.
It is a deciduous tree growing to 5 1310 m tall, belonging to the subfamily Prunoideae of the family Rosaceae. It is classified with the almond in the subgenus Amygdalus within the genus Prunus, distinguished from the other subgenera by the corrugated seed shell.
The leaves are lanceolate, 7 1315 cm long and 2 133 cm broad. The flowers are produced in early spring before the leaves; they are solitary or paired, 2.5 133 cm diameter, pink, with five petals. The fruit is a drupe, with a single large seed encased in hard wood (called the 1Cstone 1D or 1Cpit 1D), yellow or whitish flesh, a delicate aroma, and a skin that is either velvety (peaches) or smooth (nectarines) in different cultivars. The flesh is very delicate and easily bruised in some cultivars, but is fairly firm in some commercial cultivars, especially when green. The seed is red-brown, oval shaped and 1.5-2 cm long. Peaches, along with cherries, plums, and apricots, are stone fruits (drupes).
