Object Anatomy

Since I mentioned the vault and stuff in detail why not ! Warning for: Blood/mild object gore in a simple diagram/etc , mentions of death, etc, brief mention of a parasite 100% SFW, save for the minor blood and death mentions And the science isn't super realistic because they're objects haha, I want it to be fun more than anything rather than have to completely rationalize how objects are sentient. They just are

Objects in the v9 verse are animated by basically a special blue substance we've just been calling "blood", it serves as not just blood but a general life force for an object. Like a living animal, an object needs to breathe, drink and eat to sustain themselves, and they can become ill ! Illnesses affect how functional their special blood is, which is why illness or infections have been deadly so far Anatomy wise, what makes up an object is the same as what makes up the real equivalent of them. So for example, Cornerstone is solid stone, To-Go is hollow and Nectarine has fruit flesh/a stone Objects don't have organs, their blood basically fullfills this role too, though some objects with more advanced components might have issues with a compotent that might cause them health issues. For example if Dive Light's battery were to corrode it could cause him long term health problems. If it couldn't be fixed, an artificial replacement (like hand making a battery the right size for him to replace it) could work

Objects can sometimes survive with suprising amounts of damage, even if parts of their bodies are missing orcompromised, but that is sometimes just luck. With treatment or good health, even severe physical ailments like Oxy's corrosion can be slowed, though she is helped by the foundation's advanced medicine. Bad Apple (a bandit from earlier weeks) wasn't handling his rot, which presented similarly to the corrosion, very well, and it spread between his appearances. For both though it cause them discomfort/pain/loss of function in afflicted body parts

While an object of course would die if completely destroyed, the sudden shock of a traumatic injury, especially if around a seemingly important part of them like their face or the core of the object, can also kill them

Even though objects are made of non-biological materials, they can still heal like a living creature, and even scar. Thats why though Kite has torn a few times the fabric has sealed back together, or Dive Light's gouge in the plastic remains. The materials from an object are often a little sturdier than their real equivalent too, though fragile objects are still more fragile than other types, like Tea Cup being prone to cracking Though because they may be hollow and stuff, things that might kill a person might not hurt an object as much. Impaling Kite hasn't scarred him yet Trauma to their bodies/limbs can still affect them after the injury has healed too, like Shovel's chronic arm pain They can't regrow their living features, like limbs or facial features. Some naturally growing objects (like Blue Spruce) can regrow missing features like when she regrew her needles after the fire, but Uranium Glass couldn't regrow the shard missing from the rim of her glass

Objects are basically completely sexless, though some might present ""gendered"" traits. Objects can also transition to different genders

When an object has a kid, the parents choose a small piece of an inanimate object to basically "link to". The more similar it is to the parents, the higher chance of success it is ! So for example, a Shovel is well inbetween a Trowel and a Rake and using the handle of one was a safe bet. Usually an object that is very similar to one parent, or an object that feels somewhere between both parents, is chosen.

The object is influenced by the parents, and fills out into a whole object. If using more than one shard, sometimes twins can occur, or if the linked piece breaks while developing, there could be identical twins ! Their size isn't 1:1 on real objects proportionally, which is why while Spruce is tall and Microchip is very small, they are both still closer to the range of object heights that are expected Also I just like to think even serious objects are inherently a little goofy and whimsical and stuff Thats all I can think of for now !

This year I decided I really really wanted to celebrate the wheel of the year. I usually tend to put it off and put my focus towards the holidays that everyone is celebrating but I’ve had a calling to really dedicate myself to my spirituality. So this was my first true witch holiday that I fully sunk myself into. And God was it beautiful.

I cleaned my house this week in preparation for the holiday and was able to keep it clean all week, yay! On Saturday we went to a party and there was a big fire which was so beautiful and perfect being that Imbolc is a fire festival. I watched and tried to read the smoke, I identified Mars, Venus and Saturn up in the sky. It was a beautiful night. When we came home I made the altar. I used bears as this is the time they come out of hibernation. Brown bears for the God and polar bears for the Goddess. I chose that based off of vibes but also because the brown bears reminded me of brother bear.

Today I made bread for the first time ever! It came out so good and so big! It was a mess making it but I am so proud of how it came out. I thought of all those who came before me, making bread, smelling the same smells, feeling the same textures. These are some of the only things that can ever truly be timeless. Like the sight and smell of fireworks. These are the same experiences the ancients had.

I also made a potato soup with carrots, cabbage, onions, and celery. We had nectarines and blackberries for fruit, and honey goat cheese for dairy. All to honor our gods and goddesses but also to honor the and pray for the future of fertility of the coming spring. The coming spring that we and so many humans before us have always wished to bring bountiful babes and harvests to feed and nourish our bodies with. We honor these rites as there are key to our survival.

We lit the mother candle and ate. It was a merry time. To me it felt like what Christmas was always supposed to feel like. Warm, cozy and encouraging. It was just me and my beau, his sister and her boyfriend, in my and my boyfriends home sitting at the same dining room table his family has been sitting at for a long time. After eating our traditional tavern meal we did a little tarot reading. I just spread the cards on the table and we each picked one. The deck I used is called “The Star Tarot”. The art in that deck is insanely beautiful.

Before we picked the cards I asked that we all take a moment to think of the great mother’s, mothers of the earth, and all the animal moms of the globe great sacrifices in bringing us life. And as we thanked her we also thought of a goal we wish for the goddess to bless and help us bring into the world this coming spring. When we were done we toasted to the goddess and her nourishment, and to ourselves and how far we have come, with some mead my dad had made recently.

We picked our cards and none of us are too too studied in tarot so we just read the pages from the book that corresponded. All of our cards had to do with our goal, and all of our cards were positive. It was really affirming to feel that community collective support and success. We all have been working towards some quite large goals that a couple of us have achieved already, so it really felt like a push for us to collectively level up. We are family after all.

After that we made moon cookies! I used a recipe I found in the book Solitary Witch. We forgot to say the blessing the book had but the sentiment was definitely in our hearts. This has truly been one of my best weekends in life and definitely of this year so far. This is everything I’ve stayed alive for, this is all I’ve wanted since I was 14. I am so beyond grateful for my community. And I am so grateful I gave myself the chance.

Tomorrow I shall get up and start a load of laundry, shower and wash up the kitchen. I will throw the offerings I left on the altar today (chamomile, basil, thyme, rosemary, cinnamon and salt) to the wind and the wheel of the year will keep forever turning in our favor. Celebration as a human is so so important, whether alone or with people take time to celebrate. Celebrate it all, anything and everything! Being alive IS the moment to celebrate. And tonight’s celebration is coming to a close as I drink my boyfriends left over chamomile and milk tea I shall play some coral island and bask in the warmth of todays light.

Are they related? Food vs Food

How often do you look at foods in the grocery store, back and forth between two items thinking 'This looks exactly the same. Are they exactly the same? How are they not the same?" and no, I'm not talking about the processed repackaged foods and you're looking at 40 different kinds of tomato sauce. I'm talking about the produce lane.

Sure in some cases it's obvious they're not EXACTLY the same. But they must be related. Right? Well, sometimes they are, some times they're not, and some of these may surprise you. I know they surprised me!

Cucumber Vs Zucchini

I think anyone looking at these two would assume they're related. They're both long with dark green skin and light green flesh. When eaten raw and unseasoned, they also have a similar taste. However, these are two completely different foods.

The zucchini is a type of gourd, being more closely related to a Pumpkin. The cucumber is a Melon and is more closely related to the Watermelon. ....alright fine, technically gourds are a type of melon, still making them related; but my point remains! Try eating a cucumber with some sweetener like sugar or honey and it'll taste like watermelon. Won't work with zucchini.

Both cucumbers and zucchini are related to Fidelity, Chastity and general sex and Lust magic. But cucumbers are also associated with youth, beauty, glamor, stress relief, and rejuvenation. There was an old superstition that cucumbers had to be planted by young men in order for the crop to be successful.

Parsley Vs Cilantro

At a glance, these two herbs can easily be mistaken for the same thing. But once eaten, the difference is very clear. Cilantro (Also called Coriander) has a strong, lemon pepper taste; while Parsley is mainly an aromatic with a Lighter earthy taste.

People who love Cilantro might be perplexed by the hate it gets. Sure it's a strong taste but it's not overpowering. Well it turns out Cilantro is related to Fennel. Which is also related to licorice. It turns out, if your DNA is set up one way, these foods taste great. But if your DNA is set up another way, these foods taste TERRIBLE. My partner describes Cilantro as tasting like soap. So we stick with Parsley.

Superstitious farmers used to refuse growing parsley. See, parsley only grows back every other year. So, because of how long it takes to grow, it was believed parsley had to travel to hell and back 7 to 9 times. This was to try and convince the devil to give it permission to grow. And if the devil did not give the parsley permission to grow, the people who planted it would die. Was dubbed The Devil's Oatmeal.

Cilantro is a great protection herb. Protect the home, protect the garden, protect your health, protect your secrets. Parsley is also good for protection, but also has more general uses. Cleansing, Attract love and prosperity, Wisdom, commune with spirits; parsley has a long history in Rome of using to honor the dead and wear to enhance thinking power.

Ginger Vs Turmeric

Both roots, often eaten together as a seasoning. They look very similar; they must be related. Well, you'd be right! They are both part of the Zingiberaceae family. Both have strong anti inflammatory properties and have been used in natural remedies.

They still have very different tastes, however. Ginger will have a fresh, somewhat spicy taste. Turmeric is a bit heavier and earthier. Turmeric is also recognizable for it's bright yellow orange pigment. It's known to stain and dye.

Because they are roots, both Ginger and Turmeric have good Grounding properties. They are also both good for healing, cleansing, purification, prosperity and protection. But then we start to split off. Ginger is great for raising one's personal power, success, new experiences, passion, and general energy. Turmeric is better for communication, family relations, courage, confidence, beauty, memory, and honesty.

Peach vs Nectarine

So what's the deal with these two? They look a lot a like. They smell a lot a like. They taste a lot a like. Are they the same fruit? Well no. But also yes. It's kind of interesting.

A peach is just a fuzzy nectarine. Their genetic composition is structured in a way they they are identical except for one difference that occurred naturally, stopping the fuzz from growing on peaches. Giving us nectarines. They are exactly the same in every other way. Which is hilarious because I remember growing up, I hated nectarines but loved peaches. I think the peaches were just grown local so they tasted better.

I want to be clear, this genetic deviation is a naturally occurring mutation. It was not a result of science or GMOs or any kind of known human interference.

Peaches are a very spiritual fruit. They are linked to wisdom, happiness, harmony, longevity, love and protection. Nectarines....would probably be an acceptable substitute.

The nectarine jam experiment was a definite success. This stuff is so. good.

This was a last-minute activity - we were supposed to be doing some non-kitchen magic tonight - but there were nectarines prepped in the freezer, so I yoinked them out last night to thaw, and we raided the liquor cabinet to see what was immediately available. One batch with (local) amaretto in, one batch with frangelico in. One-third cup of alcohol added to standard jam recipe at the very end, after the last minute of rolling boil, just before it gets spooned into the jars.

(This is not just delicious but also one of the ways we've started getting around the no-alcohol law at state parks when we have ritual there, given we're more likely than not to want to include libations of some kind of alcohol. Now we just spoon out some drunken jam, instead, and then finish off the jar as part of the post ritual meal.)

Cannot believe it's taken me this long to experiment with nectarines. They're a little bit wetter than peaches, and the jars are still cooling, so we'll see if the set is as firm, but test drive already shows it's going to be firm enough to be spooned over goat cheese on crackers.

Notre village de Crouseilles est situé à quelques kilomètres au sud de Madiran, dans le Sud-Ouest de la France, en pays du Vie-Bith. Rattachée au piémont pyrénéen, l'appellation Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh ne produit que des vins blancs.Elle est située à 40kms de Pau, sur la même aire d'appellation que les rouges de Madiran. L'Adour rivière capricieuse toute proche confère un microclimat unique. La forte pluviométrie se combine à vents locaux sous l'influence des Pyrénées, de l'Océan Atlantique. Les coteaux sont soumis à d'important variations géologiques dues à la formation de la chaîne des Pyrénées.

Our village of Crouseilles is located a few kilometers south of Madiran, in the South-West of France, in Vie-Bith country. The Seigneurie de Crouseilles, delimited in the 16th century by walls of which some vestiges remain, is today a vineyard worked by hand by a handful of passionate winegrowers who are keen to sublimate their native grape varieties.

The appellation: AOC PACHERENC DU VIC-BILH

Attached to the Pyrenean foothills, the Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellation only produces white wines. It is located 40km from Pau, in the same appellation area as the Madiran reds. The nearby capricious Adour River provides a unique microclimate. The high rainfall combines with local winds under the influence of the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean. The hillsides are subject to significant geological variations due to the formation of the Pyrenees chain.

Ashnikko Album Review: WEEDKILLER

It's rare that someone's debut album is a concept record, though if anyone were to successfully on first pass navigate the murky waters between establishing a fictional narrative and making a larger statement about humanity as a whole, it would be trap metal singer-songwriter and rapper Ashnikko. On WEEDKILLER, a fairy civilization has been destroyed by machines, and the protagonist essentially becomes part machine in order to uproot the system from within. You can immediately see parallels to the crises of our time, from climate change to the legislative war on people with uteruses and LGBTQ+ folks; Ashnikko doesn't suggest to either burn it all down or incrementally pick battles, instead focusing on their own emotions to elicit empathy. It works to cement both their imperfections and wants.

Fittingly, some of the best songs on WEEDKILLER are about desire, especially queer desire. The Daniela Lalita-featuring erotica of "Super Soaker" skitters to corporeal heights. "Don't Look At It" is less spiritual, more physical, Ashnikko comparing themselves to Tony Hawk as they're "doin' tricks until my tongue hurt." "Miss Nectarine" details Ashnikko's childhood friend who they'd make out with to "practice for the boys," Ashnikko developing unrequited feelings. "The bruise of bein' fourteen / Got chlorine in our hair, my jaw is shaking in my mouth," they sing, the warbly auto-tune an effective window into their emotional volatility. And "Possession of a Weapon", written after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, effectively alternates between anger and mournful acceptance. "How dare I have private desires?" Ashnikko asks, at the same time realistically and sadly comparing their own body to a chess piece in a game played by lawmakers, their autonomy as strong against oppressive rain as papier-mâché.

Ashnikko has been making music for almost a decade and releasing it for over half that time, so they've certainly established somewhat of a visual and sonic identity. WEEDKILLER doesn't upend what they'd been exploring on their EPs and debut mixtape DEMIDEVIL, but it's certainly their most cohesive statement yet. The title track and "World Eater" form not just the conceptual but musical base for the whole album, a conglomerate of trap beats, cascading synths, and power chords. "Worms", in which Ashnikko makes the best of their own decomposition within a post apocalyptic-world, features surprisingly limber bars and inventive rhyme schemes, as they declare, "Brand-new day, got a brand-new grin / Got a colony of ants underneath my skin / My bones decay, now I'm gelatin / I swear I'm better, Miss Parasite Possessor." From nu metal jams with metallic, clanging percussion to obvious, but successful Britney and Rihanna tributes, Ashnikko fulfills the promising pop dexterity they merely hinted at on previous releases.

And then there's "Dying Star", which takes another sonic left-turn and perhaps hints at where Ashnikko could go next. Featuring gothic Americana troubadour Ethel Cain, Ashnikko finds an aesthetic nestled somewhere in between the hyper-aggression of the rest of WEEDKILLER and Cain's slow-burning epics. The two harmonize, over repeatedly echoing guitar strums and bass lines, Ashnikko at one point singing, "I want something soft." After an album's worth of diss tracks and feelings bursting at the seams, they finally let themselves be vulnerable.

From within the darkness of the study, surrounded by volumes of esoteric texts, broken up by the most alien of artifacts and twisted keepsakes of past successes, the great work begins. Volumes are pored over and cross-referenced like second nature, a silent symphony of utter focus clouding the mind of the patriarch of a great house. Within infernal texts and necrotic enchantments alike, in the inpenetrable umbra of his craft, he could not be blamed for thinking himself the only person in the world, in those moments.

And yet, so easily is the illusion of solitude shattered. Bony wings cloak gently over the form of the tiefling, casting a familiar shadow over the faint candlelight that elucidates him upon some diabolical incantation. His workspace, cluttered with vials and volumes alike, finds itself disturbed by a new, unfamiliar intruder; a porcelain bowl, filled carefully and lovingly with fresh fruits from a nearby market. Grapes, dragonfruit, nectarines and persimmions all distract his gaze from the source of warmth that now grazes his cheek.

"Despite what the nature of your study may suggest," Corvus hums. "You, yourself, are still mortal, and very much alive, darling. Meaning, of course, you ought to make sure this... exemplary vessel of yours does not decay among the rest of this knowledge." His hand slips slowly onto his shoulder, barely caressing the satin of his cloak with a gentle pull, coaxing him away from the subject of his focus, and towards the plain, simple nothingness of the spare table.

Ariortos was the type who kept working, often neglecting his own needs for the sake of work. It was something that many people noticed, and while they said he was a hard worker, he wasn't very sociable or personable...It was rare that he found people that he talked to outside of work, and in his eyes, he only had one friend. Corvus was a constant companion, throughout both his childhood and throughout his time at GAAA. The man was one of the best duelists he had ever met, and had a tactical mind that made him a menace in games of strategy.

He had been in such a trance that he hadn't noticed the sound of his friend walking in. Only breaking when he noticed the bowl in front of him, and he looks to find Covrus standing at his side, a smile on his face.

"I did not hear you come in."

Were he capable of outwardly showing embarrassment, he might've averted his eyes. Instead, he adjusts his glasses, rubbing the bridge of his nose. Perhaps it was time to take a break. He grunts softly, as he stands up, using his cane to help him maintain his balance.

"I need to put on another pot of tea-"

"No need. It's already done, just the way you like it."

Corvus beams at him with the same smile, looking quite pleased with himself, and that's when he's noticed a fresh cup of ginger tea in front of him. He sits back down, staring at the bowl of fruit. He's had these strange feelings in his chest for years, only around Corvus, and it had been there since he had really gotten to know the other when they were teenagers. Sometimes he found himself leaning against the other when they were seated, and trusting him with things he would never have trusted anyone else with.

"Do you remember what you said to me, when you left for your training as the new Lord of Ravens?"

Corvus nods, resting a hand on one of his gloved ones.

"Of course. You asked me why I had not married, and I told you it was because I was devoted to you. That I would see your goals done, and that was all I needed to be happy."

Ariortos doesn't understand the feelings he has towards Corvus, and now he's older, and they've grown more confusing. He had never shown interest, nor felt any interest in others...And yet his friend had been the one who had remained by his side. Consoling him when the reality of his actions of becoming head of House Zarin had came crashing down. He was someone who needed to do whatever it took to see his goals realized, because he needed to prove to himself that he didn't need Vadu's blessing to succeed.

"I...am not quite sure of my own feelings...but I am aware that I am fond of you. Not entirely platonically, but I do not understand romance...Would you still have me?"

He hears a soft gasp from Corvus, before feeling hands on his cheeks, and being made to look up at the other.

"I would have you in any life, any time, anywhere."

For once, he's at a loss for words. And instead places a hand over one of Corvus' and sighs. Leaning into the touch and closing his eyes. Perhaps, if only for a moment, he can enjoy being treated softly like this.
