The Tony/Ziva NCIS Spinoff: Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly Reveal Title

The upcoming NCIS spinoff series about Tony and Ziva will be titled…. NCIS: Tony & Ziva.

Franchise vets and spinoff stars Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly unveiled the title on Tuesday via the Instagram video below (and other social media):

The title “makes it really easy, because the fans will know exactly what the show is,” de Pablo notes.

“I expect intrigue, romance, the background of Europe, impossible situations that will make our lives very complicated,” the actress adds. But also, “a little something about love!”

Weatherly previously shared (during an appearance on Entertainment Tonight‘s NCIS-Verse: The First 1,000 special) that he and de Pablo will be heading to Budapest this summer to begin filming the Europe-set series, which finds Tony and Ziva “trying to raise their tween daughter and save the world.”

Tali was first introduced, as a toddler, in the May 2016 NCIS episode “Family First,” in which Tony learned that Ziva had years prior — in early 2014, per the show’s timeline — quietly given birth to their daughter. As such, the “tween” designation seems apt, if maybe a year on the high side by the time the spinoff premieres.

TVLine hears that while the #Tiva spinoff will be filming later this year in Budapest, that is not necessarily the only European location to which the show will travel. (After all, as Weatherly noted, the action picks up with Tony and Ziva raising their daughter “in Paris,” until they “go on the run.”)

John McNamara, whose past TV credits include co-creating Profit, Fastlane and The Magicians, penned the new series’ premiere and will serve as showrunner. Weatherly and de Pablo said in a previous statement, “We’ve been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready. The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter.”

A high school reunion murder

A killer with diplomatic immunity that still gets arrested through some outrageous loophole

There's always an episode where a psychic comes forward to help. Everyone will be extremely wary of the psychic except for one person. And the psychic will end up being correct.

Murderous twins. They're often separated at birth. All the investigators will make a joke about it being twins and then are SHOCKED when it actually does turn out to be twins.

Killer child. Literally just a little kid that kills (usually another little kid)

An episode that villianizes people with DID. (sometimes the writers do a 2 for 1 special and make one of the "alters" a different gender so that they can both villianize mentally ill people, AND make transphobic jokes 🙃)

Sleepwalking murderer

Murder by proxy via hypnosis. Similar to the psychic, most of the team will be very skeptical.

Someone finds a body in a time capsule

Some killer that just got like WAY too into Dantes Inferno

Murder victim that has multiple families/wives

Murder at a roller derby. This episode will usually give off big sapphic vibes
