Remembering the day that ET posted that pic of Linda in the Season 12 premiere, and man. That was truly a sight.
I wake up from my nap, I check the show's Twitter page, and right at the top is a photo of Hetty in hot camo gear.
Like, you go girl! 🔥💃

Okay i’m just gonna say something that’s been on my mind and i wonder if anybody feels the same but i absolutely HATED when eric came back in season 12? (I wanna say?). I feel like they ruined his character and he was just so annoying. I know, he’s always been awkward but i feel like he was not this much of a jerk in the earlier season than he was in the season. It’s like he was too full of himself. I’m sorry i had to go off on this rant bc nobody will listen

A/N: A little fic set in season 12 while Deeks is laid off and the rest of his and Kensi’s life is kind of falling to pieces.
***
Sometimes You Just Can’t Fake It
“You know what would be great in here?” Kensi asks, waiting for either Callen or Sam to respond. It’s early afternoon on a Friday and so quiet she can hear every tap of finger on keyboard. When they say nothing, she answers for herself. “A taco bar. We could set it up in one of the storage rooms. No one would ever need to know, because no one ever goes in there except for Nell, and then we could have burritos whenever we want.”
“I think Deeks is rubbing off on you,” Sam comments with a gentle smile.
He’s not entirely wrong. The last few weeks have been rough, to put it mildly. She’s so used to Deeks being the cheerleader, the eternal optimist in their relationship and among the team. Her efforts to fill in the gaps, all seem to fall flat or come off as forced.
What Kensi wants to say more than anything, is this sucks. They were supposed to be buying their own house, starting a family, and instead the bar is beyond struggling, Deeks all but fired, and they’re months into trying to get pregnant.
“Why don’t you go home?” Callen suggests, not even bothering to check his watch. “Your paperwork’s done and I have it on good authority that the new boss is pretty lenient.”
Kensi allows a smile as she imagines Nell’s reaction to being called the boss. “Ok, thanks. I’m just going to give Deeks a call.”
“Tell him he owes me a game of pool,” Sam adds.
“I will.”
Deeks picks up after a few rings. “Kens, hi, what’s going on?”
“Hey, Callen said I could skip out early,” she explains, settling on the sofa set up beyond the bullpen. “I was thinking maybe I could pick you up and take you out to dinner. We’ve never gotten around to trying that New Mexican place with the couples margaritas.”
Her tone is decidedly flirtatious, but she doesn’t really care if someone overhears. With Deeks laid off, they’ve had even less time together, and she’s feeling the strain.
“That sounds amazing, baby,” Deeks sighs, and there’s a thread of exhaustion in his voice that never quite leaves these days. It’s different from the weariness that comes with a week of chasing after ad guys. “But there’s so much to do at the bar. Can I have a rain check.”
“Oh, yeah, sure.” She’s pretty proud of how well she hides her disappointment.
“You could go without me though. I, uh, know how much you love your margaritas and a good taco.”
“It wouldn’t be the same,” Kensi admits. “We’ll go another time. I’ll see you in a little bit.”
“Kay. Love you,” he says, a little sad and distracted like he’s been for weeks.
“Love you,” she murmurs back. Clasping her phone between her palms, she leans forward, pressing her lips together to stave off a wave of tears.
She’s trying so hard, for the both of them. And it’s just not enough.

EXCLUSIVE: NCIS: LA may be over but star Daniela Ruah is keeping a toe in the NCIS universe.
The actress who played Kensi Blye on the spinoff that wrapped its 14-season run last May is directing two episodes in the NCIS universe. She’s helming an episode of NCIS this month that’ll air in March, followed by an episode of NCIS: Hawai’i in February that’ll run in April.
“Kensi was born as a character on NCIS, 15 years ago, so now to be able to step onto that set again, as a director, with that incredible cast and crew, is an absolute honor,” she tells Deadline. “So many familiar faces and people I love and they’ve welcomed me with open arms. It’s like coming home.”
Ruah made her directorial debut on NCIS: Los Angeles during season 12.
NCIS: LA ended on May 21, 2023 with Ruah’s character discovering that she and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) were going to have a baby. Callen (Chris O’Donnell) also married his lady love Anna (Bar Paly) in an impromptu city hall wedding.
NCIS: LA is tied as the fifth longest-running CBS primetime scripted series ever, only behind Gunsmoke, Lassie, CSI and Criminal Minds. The latter two have since been revived, which bodes well for the future of NCIS: Los Angeles.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks to @bonheur-cafe and @lemonlyman-dotcom for the tags!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
99! Must do something special for 100! Any suggestions?
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
358,733
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Actively: 911 Lone Star, Heartstopper
Previously: NCIS LA, SEAL Team, Teen Wolf, others...
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Good, the Bad, and the Very Ugly
The House in the Pines Where the Road Ends
Hold Onto Me
The Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! It means SO MUCH to me when people comment, I feel like the least I can do is say thank you! Also, it always makes me happy when someone responds to my comments, so I try and give that magical feeling to others!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I Could Have Loved You- This is a SEAL Team fic that explored the six weeks in season 2 where Sonny and Lisa were together in before she would have left for her officer billet. In the end I had her leave even though both of them wanted to stay together. Honestly still prefer it to the shit show the show turned them into.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It All Fades Away- I finally married Kensi and Deeks off on the beach because the damn show was taking too long. It was really beautiful! Also this is so old that it's only posted on ff.net lol.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not often, especially now that I'm on AO3. People used to be real mean over on ff.net.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No. I like to let people have their privacy. I will write straight up to the line of smut though.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have written exactly one 911 LS/The Rookie crossover for @bluenet13 and I only posted it on Tumblr. It involved the Reyes sisters is was generally hilarious.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of. Please don't steal my things lol.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Someone asked me many years ago if they could translate one of my fics into German and I said yes. I saw it once, no idea where it's posted now.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Tarlos, Ron/Hermione, Nick and Charlie
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a Ron/Hermione fic that spans the time from the end of DH to 19 Years Later and it's not done and it makes me sad because I really loved a lot of it.
16. What are your writing strengths?
DIALOGUE. I only have one, but I do think I'm pretty damn good at it. Okay maybe also character voice.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Scene description. I hate it.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Yes? Sure? But like, know what you're doing. Don't guess.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
First ever? Star Wars. First posted? Power Rangers. I've come a long way lolol.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Ever?!?! Oh, I don't know! Anything involving Adriana and Francesca maybe? Or maybe Requesting Immediate Backup. I loved writing Andrea and T.K. teaming up on Carlos to make him feel better when he's sick.
Tagging (no pressure) @ladytessa74, @carlos-in-glasses, and anyone else who wants to play!

I knew NCIS LA got really sloppy after season 10, but I think it really started to go downhill in season 12 because of covid and the restrictions. Not to mention the David Kessler storyline if you even want to call it that. They never should've bothered to start it since they it was never resolved or even given time or development to begin with.
The last few seasons were honestly quite disappointing. They had a few good episodes, but in the end, the show just wasn't what it used to be, which is really quite sad.

15 things
1. Are you named after anyone?
I don’t think I am considering they thought I was going to be a boy.
2. When was the last time you cried?
Tearing up write now, cause of some stupid work drama. Board of Directors are 99% no good. They do not want what’s best for the employees.
Also tearing up over NCIS: LA’s cancellation. I mean I knew it was coming, and I haven’t watched in a few years, it’s still sad.
3. Do you have kids?
Nope x1000 - Stealing @chrisodonline’s answer here.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Sometimes. Though it generally doesn’t land.
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Generally eye color and fingernails/hands. But also how they carry themselves and treat people.
6. What's your eye color?
Brown (oddly I don’t like it on me, but I love Dan Levy and Noah Reid’s eye colors and they are both brown eyes)
7. Scary movie or happy ending
Happy ending.  But OMG Z! I loved So Weird!
8. Any special talents?
I have a degree in music. I’m a librarian, so I like stuff organized, but you wouldn’t know it looking at my bedroom.
9. Where were you born?
Metro Philly.
10. What are your hobbies?
Amusement Parks and roller coasters. But also reading and writing. Though I don’t think I’m that good at the writing stuff.
11. Do you have any pets?
Not anymore. We had to put our dog to sleep in December of 2019, and I don’t think we’ll get another one. But we do have bird feeders and our backyard menagerie includes (Birds, Squirrels, Chimpmunks, Deer, Raccoons on the daily, and the not so welcome ones, foxes, and a hawk.  I have thousands of photos on my mom’s computer of our wildlife)
12. What sports do you play/ have you played?
Back in the day: Soccer, gymnastics, field hockey, and lacrosse. Also tried basketball for a season but when you see the answer to the next question you’ll know why that didn’t work out.
But then in HS and college it was Marching Band. Yes, band is a sport. I will fight you.
13. How tall are you?
4′11-- In regular sneakers, it just pushes me to that 5′0 mark.
14. Favorite subject in school?
English and Math in HS, and my music classes in college. But also
15. Dream job?
I had always wanted to be an actor. But I have no talent, and I’m short and overweight so that wouldn’t work.  But I like being a cataloger at my library. I’m not so much a fan of the Assistant Director Title, but it’ll do.
Adding in here, traveling to amusement parks worldwide and being paid to ride the rides.
Tag 15 mutuals: Not tagging 15 but @lizzie-bennetdarcy @statueinthestone @blackandwhiteandrose @apothecarose
Thank you to @chrisodonline and @aprylynn for tagging me too!

Not a week after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended, CBS is the first broadcast network out of the gate with a game plan for the delayed regular TV season.
CBS’ schedule, which kicks off in February 2024 — right after getting loads of promotion during its airing of the Super Bowl — is nearly identical to the Fall TV slate announced back in May, when the WGA strike was getting underway. The only differences are that Kathy Bates’ new Matlock series has been pushed to the 2024-25 TV season (as has the Wayanses’ Poppa’s House sitcom), and CSI: Vegas is now closing out Sunday nights.
Justin Hartley’s Tracker, as previously announced, will tackle the coveted post-Super Bowl slot, Carrie Preston’s Good Wife spinoff Elsbeth will still call Thursday home, and as the photo above means to remind you, NCIS: LA alum LL Cool J is locked in to continue his NCIS: Hawai’i arc.
Most CBS series are planning to have 10-13 episodes each, running into May.
SUNDAY, FEB. 11 (following Super Bowl LVIII) ~10 pm TRACKER (series premiere)
MONDAY, FEB. 12 8 pm The Neighborhood Season 6 8:30 pm Bob Hearts Abishola Season 5 9 pm NCIS Season 21 10 pm NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3
TUESDAY, FEB. 13 8 pm FBI Season 6 9 pm FBI: International Season 3 10 pm FBI: Most Wanted Season 5
THURSDAY, FEB. 15 9 pm Young Sheldon Season 7 8:30 pm Ghosts Season 3 9 pm So Help Me Todd Season 2 10 pm TRACKER (series premiere repeat)
FRIDAY, FEB. 16 8 pm S.W.A.T. Season 7 (final) 9 pm Fire Country Season 2 10 pm Blue Bloods Season 14
SUNDAY, FEB. 18 7 pm 60 Minutes 8 pm The Equalizer Season 4 9 pm TRACKER (regular time slot premiere) 10 pm CSI: Vegas Season 3 (new night)
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 28 8 pm Survivor Season 46 (2-hour premiere)
THURSDAY, FEB. 29 10 pm ELSBETH (series premiere)
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6 8 pm Survivor (2-hour episode)
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13 8 pm Survivor (return to 90-minute episodes) 9:30 pm The Amazing Race Season 36 (90-minute episodes)

A/N: A small fic set in season 12 when Deeks is still laid off.
***
Sometimes Like Sucks
“Deeks, have you see the—crap,” Kensi muttered, cutting herself off when she realized Deeks wasn’t there to answer her. After a few weeks, she have thought she’d be used to Deeks’ absence, but somehow she kept forgetting about his lay off.
“Kind of hard to get used to him not being here, isn’t?” Sam observed, surprising Kensi out of a quick spiral into darker thoughts.
“It’s not the end of the world though.” It just felt it was most days.
“Is he doing ok? He’s seemed kind of…subdued when I went to see him yesterday,” Sam asked, posing it as a casual question. She could tell he’d be waiting for the right moment, and she resisted the urge to squeeze her temples.
“Yeah, he’s good,” she told him with the best smile she could muster. “He’s just been under a lot of pressure with everything happening with his job right now, and the bar. It’s a lot.”
“I’ve seen Deeks under pressure before. And seen him quiet. This is different. He seems defeated that I’ve very rarely seen.” He paused, his hesitation unexpected. “I’m worried about him, Kensi.”
“Well, he didn’t exactly expect to be here at this stage in his life.” She couldn’t hold back the bitterness in her voice. Because for all she put on a brave face for Deeks, she did blame both NCIS and LAPD for treating him with so little respect. He deserved so much better, and she couldn’t do anything to help.
“That’s understandable. I know I would feel lost if I suddenly lost my job,” Sam said, his calm and reason fairly annoying at the moment. “How about I invite him over for dinner tonight? We can have a “man-to-man” conversation.”
“I don’t think Deeks would appreciate that right now.” She could only imagine how upset Deeks would be if he found out she was discussing his personal problems with Sam. Especially this one which he was so sensitive about. “Thanks for the offer though.”
“Ok. I’ll be here if you change your mind,” Sam told her, squeezing her shoulder once before he went on his way.
Kensi offered another weak smile. Somehow she didn’t think all the conversations in the world would help Deeks right now.
