Can I ask you for some advice? I posted a fic idea, and someone commented on it 'someone write this' with a bunch of laughing emojis (??? idea was angst??). I don't write often (at all) but I do write and I have a section in my pinned post for my writing (empty atm), and I had nothing in the tags to indicate the idea was up for grabs?? Am I wrong to think it was a really rude / weird comment to leave? I ended up deleting the comment & I was gonna block the blog but lost the name when the notif went away after deleting. It just felt weird? You're a much more experienced writer so I was wondering if you thought it was rude too?

naur I don’t often talk about the things that annoy me on here but that’s for sure one of them. “Someone should write this” like yeah man it’d be crazy if the person who made the post intended on writing it 🤪 I have blocked people for less.

I feel like writing etiquette should be, if someone posts an idea that’s a little more detailed than usual (for example, my “pool boy soap” post would NOT qualify for this because that was barely a prompt - had no outline or anything), don’t take it and don’t joke about someone else writing it unless the OP has stated they won’t write it or you ask politely in their inbox. I think there’s some grey area around what constitutes taking someone’s idea, but we all kinda know it when we see it, so just be polite and respectful. (We literally just need to go back to kindergarten rules: would it hurt your feelings if someone did that to you?)

i don't really like it, because it's kinda immersion-breaking for me. i prefer to write it all in english but state that the character is speaking in xxx language instead

What are your writing strengths? my partner tells me he likes my dialogue and that it feels realistic, and i like to think that i'm good with descriptions, setting scenes, etc. there's a particular action scene in my resident evil longfic that i'm very proud of, and lots of visceral descriptions of gore that i think are done really well!

Day 5                                                                                                        

Finally, a nice sunny day. A little windy but I suppose it’s that kind of weather for this area. Susie and I went to the market to pick up a few things and let Mollie tag along. She is fascinated by all the smells along the sidewalk, so we are not making much headway on walk to the market. It was decided that we would take advantage of the sun and have a BBQ.

In our ventures I asked Susie what languages I might encounter that I may not understand or be able to speak. I am not bilingual She told me that while English is the dominant language in Australia along with Australian English. Many people speak a language other than English within their families and communities. So again, not that much different than the U.S. or other countries.

Mandarin and Arabic are the other large numbers of languages across the country, with Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Punjabi ranking among the top languages spoken. (https://sylaba.com.au/). I guess if I run into a language barrier, I will have to wing it.

In my studies I remember being asked what “lingua Fanca” means? Double checking my memory bank I recall that it means it is the chosen common language spoken between people with different first languages.

As Susie and I both speak English we thought of a fun thing to play on our walk. She knows other languages some of what are spoken in this area, so she is going to teach me some basic words. Australian English being the choice. Hesitantly I agreed laughing out loud. My thoughts were, this would probably be the best to understand first. She told me how to say

“Hello” or “g’day” or “how ya doing?”

“Yes”- “Naw Yah” (still laughing)

“No” – “Naur” typically a slang meaning “no” none of this sounds right without the accent. Susie is beside herself with laughter. I don’t blame her.

“Please and Thank You are the next challenge.

“Ta” for please and “Please is not commonly used so the English version is substituted.

“Can you help me and “I don’t understand” are very similar to the English Language with slight variations and accent. In all not hard to pronounce but am very sure I do not sound like the rest of the people. It’s fun to try.

Thank goodness for new technology now days. I will come in handy I cannot understand what is being said. An Example “Good afternoon, where can I get some flip flops?” it would be said as “Arvo”! Thongs are at the market. “Cheers”.” Arvo” being “good afternoon”, “thongs” are not to be confused with G-strings and cheers traditionally meaning “hello and goodbye” good to know for later. Fun fact, if you really think about it, languages influence everyone around us. A cultural difference, of course, so I best be careful about what I say so it won’t be taken wrong. The idea that our language shapes our thoughts and perceptions is known as linguistic relativity. Some studies have found evidence to support this idea.

I’ve never seen with any other fandom the level of mean girl hateful, psychopathic BS that we get from the HOTD fandom, it’s amazing to me. I used to look through some tags associated with that show everyday, like looking through your morning newspaper you know, and I had to stop bc it’s crazy how vicious and mean ppl are either to each other or about the characters and it’s like damn calm down! Honestly I don’t miss looking through the tags, it’s kind of a relief not too

Listen,, even I myself last year started unfollowing some tags because of how dense it began to get. At the beginning, it used to be harmless fun; people sharing their art, fics, theories, ideas— etc. Then? It became like a pit of shit full of people throwing themselves at each other’s neck either because of the teams, or because of the drama between some accounts.

Its just like you said, people in here became absolutely vicious and the display of mean popular girl behaviour simply baffles me! I have to admit I don’t feel surprised about the people involved in the drama though... But still, my mind can’t wrap itself around the idea of people being this mean and cyberbullying others.

I don’t regret at all taking a break from the fandom, but since I have lots of mutuals from there and follow some tags, today I woke up like: what the fuck happened... again??? 😭😭 naur this is an absolute MESS— grown ass people calling each other names, being racist/xenophobics, gossiping about their own mutuals; this is literally tiring,, like damn CALM THE FUCK DOWN FOR A SECOND LMAOOO

I feel so fed-up with this dumbass fandom. We are supposed to ENJOY the fucking show about the sad incest royal dragons, not threaten each other and gossip and act like the group of mean popular girls I had on my school when I was like 6 or 7 years old. This is depressing.

As you guys can see, I currently have my attention fixed on another fandom— and my god, it feels so refreshing to meet people who are genuinely kind, polite, and there’s no drama.

There’s not a single thing in her masterlist that I dislike, she even made me okay with the idea of pegging Levi bye. The entire tbah universe (specifically parental moments one) has a special place in my heart, but recently the perpendicular world has been on my mind, and might be coming for number one. Either way, you’re gonna love it. She writes Levi in his slightly bitchy, kinda needy, implicitly affectionate, true to nature form, and I am so grateful for it. Also, Saran is a comedian.

Yeah... this shouldn’t be a surprise. Fantastic writing, fluff in canonverse has a special place in my heart because I think it can be really hard to pull off well; it’s difficult to balance a sense of softness within the aot universe for the obvious reasons, and getting Levi’s caring nature right can be (unfortunately) so hard to find. Good thing people like Sorcha are here. Enjoy more fluff. Also this fic is particularly fantastic to me not just because of the injured lover trope, but because the 104th babies pay a visit and you all know how much I love a good glimpse of reluctant adoptive dad Levi hehe

If you can’t tell by now, I love canonverse fluff, tho this fic isn’t fluff in the traditional sense, but I think that makes it all the much better. Perfect depiction of real life shit that would go down in the aot world paired with Levi’s need to protect his s/o. It’s fantastic.

The whole story is great and immersive, not just between Eren and the reader; their relationships with the other characters are really what makes this special imo. There’s also beach sex, so.
