I'm sorry it's taken me forever to answer this, and by no means is metal out of my wheelhouse! Although for ages I was under the impression that Chinese metal didn't really exist 😅. When I first started learning Chinese a friend had also just returned home from living and working in Shandong for 3 years, so I bombarded him with questions, including the one you just asked. His reply was that I wasn't going to find anything like that in China. I tried looking myself but could only find a couple 80's hair metal style bands (not my fave) and I gave up.

I've not really thought about it until your ask (its been nearly 4 years), but I realise now how absurd it is to think there are no Chinese metal bands. I'm better at searching now so here's what I dug up this time:

His body was found by authorities on June 13, no cause of death has not yet been released.

Related to the HU is Tengger Cavalry who were doing Mongolian Throat Singing Metal earlier (albeit with more of a death metal flavour). Originally a solo project by Nature Ganganbaigal (who was from Beijing and was of mixed Han-Mongolian heritage), he moved to the US. After the band broke up, and then got back together in 2018, Nature died in 2019 and the rest of the band seems to have broken up again

They appear on the soundtracks for Civilization 6 and Doom Eternal, and Nature also contributed to the soundtrack for Age of Empires IV
