Frank Sinatra sang, “ Fairy tales can come true,
It can happen to you
If you're young at heart.”
And that’s true for our Junior Rangers and Citizen Rangers.
Whether in the national park or online, kids of all ages can take part in becoming a Junior Ranger. Mount Rainier also offers the Citizen Ranger quests in the park. With both programs, you learn about the geology, plants, animals and history as you visit the park. Start by stopping at a visitor center and picking up a booklet. The Junior Ranger booklet is appropriate for a broader, younger audience. If completed in park, you can go back to a visitor center to have a park ranger review the booklet and award you a Junior Ranger badge.
The Citizen Ranger quests are a bit different, appropriate for a more mature audience (ages 12 and up). You can find the quests either on the park’s website or by going to a visitor center. With questions in hand, individuals, families or groups can track down the answers and then return to a visitor center for a review with a ranger. Complete one quest for a certificate. Complete four quests for a patch.
“You’ll have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart.”

With only 25k visitors per year, this National Park is the a place to get away from it all! #NationalParkWeek
Isle Royale National Park is a 45-mile-long island of pristine wilderness located in Lake Superior. The park is isolated and can only be accessed by boat or seaplane. Needless to say, this national park is not crowded! Annual visitation is around 25,000. Isle Royale National Park is open seasonally from mid-April through October. they work so hard to conserve natural places on temporal earth that was completely reshaped by the global Flood
but will anyone work to “conserve” (the inner garden) of the heart (human spirit) where rebirth first occurs?
[National Park Service]
In honor of #NationalParkWeek, what's your park ranger name? 🤠
Park rangers wearing the "flat hat" are an iconic symbol of the National Park Service, but there are many types of “rangers!" There are mechanics and museum curators, data analysts and landscape architects, engineers, educators, biologists, historians, law enforcement officers, and firefighters.
Want to learn more about working in the National Park Service? Find information at https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/how-to-apply.htm

"The level of comfort and peace that I experience in the parks flows like a stream throughout my life, so that no matter where I am or what I am experiencing, there is a core of me that cannot be disturbed. It keeps me in balance all the time." – Audrey Peterman
As National Park Week comes to a close, we are so thankful for all of the joys that these special places provide us. What was the first National Park you visited? What kind of emotions did the visit spark? Channel Islands National Park photo by Chuck Graham

#NationalParkWeek #NPSInspiration An icon on the horizon, Mount Rainier has long been a source of inspiration. In 1909, Dr. Cora Smith Eaton and other suffragists joined The Mountaineers to climb Mount Rainier and fly a "Votes for Women" pennant from the summit. Inspired in part by this climb, Washington State passed a law to allow women to vote in 1910. It was the first state to adopt women’s suffrage in almost 15 years (since Idaho and Utah passed suffrage laws in 1896) and helped revitalize the national suffragist movement. The 19th Amendment was then ratified in Washington State on March 22, 1920. From climbing a mountain to achieving the right to vote in a state and then in a nation, actions of individuals can inspire change. Have you been inspired to climb Mount Rainier?

In honor of Earth Day and National Park Week, we're sharing this tiny (6 cm!) souvenir book by William S. Vaux, Jr. detailing a Vaux family trip to the Yellowstone National Park in August 1885. William S. Vaux, Jr. was one of the trio of siblings of Philadelphia photographers, mountaineers, and scientists that also included Mary M. Vaux (1860-1940) and George Vaux, Jr. (1863-1927). An architect by trade, Vaux and his siblings extensively explored, studied, and photographically documented the West beginning with their trip to Yellowstone National Park in 1885. The frontispiece photo shows a woman and young man, probably Mary Vaux and one of her brothers, standing near a geyser.
Vaux, William S. Two weeks in the Yellowstone. Philadelphia: Vaux Print, 1887.

This is the end result of a 5-hour hike up #yosemitefallstrail. The top was covered in #snow and #ice and a #fog had rolled in, obscuring the view of the valley. Was I disappointed? Heck, yeah. I worked hard to get up there and I was exhausted and I still had to get down before the sun set. But I still made it to the top. @nationalparkservice @yosemitenps #nationalparkweek #nationalpark #yosemitenationalpark #yosemitevalley #california #americasnationalparks #americasbestidea #greatoutdoors #latergram https://www.instagram.com/p/B_NBzItF5Y-/?igshid=1k9fy5odq15y4
