This is one of the illustrations that I have done for @arts_midwest for an article on the National Museum on Mexican Art (@explorenmma) on how they are coping with the Covid-19 pandemic. Every year the #nationalmuseumofmexicanart invites an Artist to create a mural for its annual Day of the Dead exhibition, this year I had the honor to create this #Linocut print installation for “Sólo un poco aquí: Day of the Dead” exhibition, curated by Dolores Mercado. Besides the mural I also did another installment inside the gallery honoring #EssentialWorkers . I am a proud member of the #InstitutoGraficoDeChicago which is a #printmaking collective formed by Latin American artists in #Chicago One of the goals of the group is bringing #art and #culture through #grabado focusing in the younger generations. Tomorrow Monday the U.S. Postal Service celebrates Day of the Dead with colorful new stamps by Mexican artist and designer Luis Fitch, founder and creative director of Minneapolis cross-cultural design agency UNO. We’re thrilled to host a dedication ceremony on Monday, October 25th at 10:00 am at the National Museum of Mexican Art. Come meet the artist and see the beautiful stamps for yourself! This pane of 20 Forever stamps contains five rows of four colorful stamps featuring several iconic elements of a traditional Day of the Dead offering.
