National Ice Cream Sandwich Day
A sweet union of two delicate layers, with frosty bliss in between, offering delightful respite on a warm day.
The cold twin bursts of chocolate with the soft hint of vanilla between, leading to a small explosion of flavor. A delight over a century old, and even more impressive is that it is still as liked today as it was back then. The very taste of delight for untold of summers, this is the celebration of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day!
Learn about National Ice Cream Sandwich Day
If you have never had an ice cream sandwich before, you are seriously missing out! This is one of the most delicious ice cream treats. It is simple to make, but it is extremely tasty. An ice cream sandwich is simply a frozen dessert that has two cookies, wafers, or biscuits, with ice cream in the middle. It combines two amazing things; ice creams and biscuits. What more could you really want? It is not hard to see why this dessert is so popular, and so it is only right that we have a day to honor this amazing treat, isn’t it?
You may be wondering where this amazing idea came from and how many people enjoy it! There are lots of great facts regarding ice cream sandwiches, so you can spend your day digging a little bit deeper into this popular treat and when it all started out. We know that there were ice cream sandwiches available for sale by street vendors in New York from the late 1800s, and so it is definitely a treat that has been enjoyed for quite some time now! We know this because the ice cream sandwich was cited in an article in the New York Mail and Express in 1899. It said the following:
There are ham sandwiches and salmon sandwiches and cheese sandwiches and several other kinds of sandwiches, but the latest is the ice-cream sandwich.
If you are a fan of the ice cream cookie sandwich, we have San Francisco to thank for this. When it comes to building a delicious ice cream sandwich, cookies have become a much-loved alternative to the standard chocolate wafer. It is believed that this creation was invented by an ice cream vendor in 1928 in San Francisco when he decided to use two oatmeal cookies instead of wafers. But wait, it gets even better, he even dipped it into chocolate before serving it! If you have never tried this type of ice cream sandwich before, why not give it a good in honor of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day? After all, everything tastes better when it has been covered in chocolate, right?
History of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day
Nobody quite knows where the day originated from, or even the definitive place the ice cream sandwich itself started. There are pictures from 1900 of people eating them after paying nothing more than a penny! These delights come in many forms, but originally it was some vanilla ice cream pressed between two thin graham crackers. The current form of the ice cream sandwich is a soft chocolate wafer bracketing some vanilla ice cream. But no matter the origins, the ice cream sandwich has been a staple of summertime enjoyment for many a year. Sticky fingers and a mouth surrounded by white cream is the hallmark of many a child ‘s enjoyment, wanting another in the soft heat of summer. The mere memory of these treats seem to bring memories of summers past to mind, and the utter amazement every time we bit into one of these sandwiches of ice cream.
How to celebrate National Ice Cream Sandwich Day
Well, the obvious thing would be to go get an ice cream sandwich, and enjoy it sitting down like the child we all used to be. Maybe run around a little bit, laugh loudly and ask for a second one! Maybe instead of the soft chocolate wafer, you try it as they originally made it, or maybe sandwich that luscious vanilla ice cream between two cookies. Maybe add some chocolate chips around the edge, or even try chocolate ice cream between vanilla wafers. Experiment with different things, as you never know what combination that forms your ice cream sandwich will become your new favorite.
Or maybe you could introduce someone else to an ice cream sandwich. Sharing the delightfully sweet treat with someone who has never had one might just bring a smile to your face, seeing the wonder and awe on theirs. Or even showing them what an original ice cream sandwich is. Maybe the confectionery delights that are all over, like the aforementioned chocolate chip cookies sandwiching the vanilla. In any case, enjoy the soft sweetness, and avoid that all to common mistake of eating it all so fast you end up with a brain freeze!
The good thing about making an ice cream sandwich is that it can be as straightforward or as difficult as you want it to be. If you are looking for something simple, all you need to do is purchase your favorite flavor of ice cream and your favorite biscuits. All you need to do is scoop out some ice cream and place it in between the two biscuits, and then you can enjoy. Easy and super tasty, right? However, if you are someone who likes a challenge and you want to have some fun in the kitchen, you can try making your own biscuits and your own ice cream! If you go down this route, don’t forget to post some photos on your social media so that you can show everyone your impressive creations.

mamaaaaaa you know today is buckys birthday 🙂 how are we celebrating
🥰 I think the theme across the couples is surprise.
Daddy Steve wakes up early and surprises Baby Bucky with the start of little surprises all throughout the day, taking a long weekend to spoil his baby with museum trips and picnics and dimly lit bars and eating dessert they were forced to take to-go because of wandering hands, in bed. Jewelry is most definitely involved as well. How can it not be with these two? A bracelet this time, slim and gold and luxurious. Steve puts it on Bucky's wrist after their second round in bed that night, barely making it in time for his birthday.
Smol Steve and Bucky Bear don't have a lot of money to spare on some extra birthday goodies, but Steve absolutely tries his hardest to spoil his Bear. He makes a cake for breakfast, chocolate, that turns out surprisingly well that they eat in bed. They make some coffee at home and then go on a walk through the park, stop at Bucky's favorite bookstore, end up stopping to get coffee because theirs is stale. When it starts to rain they head home and then watch movies on TV for the rest of the day. Steve surprises him with another plant even though they swore no gifts.
Daddy James gets surprised with long awaited art that Steve has spent months making for him, Steve choosing to have it hung up in Daddy's office with the help of Natasha. Four detailed yet chaotic (his style, hehe) pencil drawings of four places they'd traveled to, that Steve used picture references for. One is a picture he took off the coast of Italy, one is a picture of the snowy view outside of their cabin (from the floor in front of the fire of course, since that's where they always end up making love for hours), one is a picture Steve took of them in bed together, and the last was (reluctantly) a picture of Steve that James says is his favorite.
Bunny's birthday is like a national holiday for 3DWD. It's right behind Christmas, maybe tied with Halloween, but Bucky's birthday is up there. 100% Steve plans a surprise party for Bucky in their backyard and barely keeps the surprised under wraps. Nat takes Bucky out somewhere for drinks or a massage and Steve goes to town turning that backyard into a cozy little wonderland, blankets and fire pits and a s'mores bar and a projector and games. Bucky's so surprised and so tickled to see everyone there that he even cries a little bit, sweet baby.
Now...the senator and intern. I'm in my feels for them today and this response reflects that, haha. I think Bucky's parents would be out of town for work and maybe his friends are busy with midterms and can't really make it out to celebrate. And when Steve asks him what his birthday plans are, Bucky says he has none. And the senator's heart breaks a little bit. And when Steve shows up to Bucky's house that night and he's stuttering trying to figure out why the senator is here and not in New York over for a rally to endorse Same Wilson for Governor, Steve tells him he changed his mind and decided to leave early in the morning. "Get in. You've got birthday plans now..."

Over two years later, and A Bond of Magic has finally been updated.

Chapter Title: Questions Must Be Answered
Chapter Summary: Huey goes on a trip and his brothers help Webby with something.
Preview:
Huey was pretty sure 'National S'mores Day' wasn't a thing but if it could keep his thoughts lighthearted he was all for it. Between the secret book and the missing mysteries... his thoughts were the most troubled they'd ever been. He needed a break from it all, and with his brothers lounging around the mansion for the day he was sure they agreed. They could get back into it all after some downtime. They may of been in a bit of a rush, but they still had to take their time with this stuff and do other things so they didn't get burnout. He knew that now.
Today would be good for him, he was sure of it.
....Even if all the other kids thought he was a robot. What did they know? There was nothing wrong with doing things exactly the right way, his Dad had told him that and he was always right about that stuff. And, he had made a new friend who thought the exact same way. Finally, someone just like him, someone who liked the same things he did and liked doing things the same way he did, someone who didn't think they were weird or 'nerdish'. Someone (outside of his family) that didn't see him like a robot.
Someone who had laser eyes that were malfunctioning and burning down the whole forest. He had to get Boyd to Gyro, and quick- something was happening to his newest friend and he’d be damned if he just sat back and let it happen.

The great outdoors, campfires, s’mores, and stargazing in celebration of summer 🌟🍫🔥
Okay, I loved writing this one so it's kinda long. The FLUFF!!!!! Hope you like it:
I Love You S'more (Supercorp)
by marinawolf (also find me on ao3)
Kara had always been excited by the arrival of warmer days in National City. The promise of summer beckoned her with a sense of adventure and nostalgia. Memories of camping trips with the Danvers family would resurface, and the sunny days made her happier, freer.
She sat with Lena on her balcony, cuddled together, sipping iced teas on a warm evening. The sun was beginning to set, casting mesmerising glints of light on the glass buildings of National City.
Kara breathed in the air, mixed with a hint of Lena's heady perfume, and sighed happily as Lena placed a kiss against her temple. Kara couldn't help but think that this was perfection. She loved these soft moments with Lena. Just the two of them, away from prying eyes, away from the mess of their daily lives.
"We should go camping one of these weekends," Kara casually suggested, knowing that their busy schedules wouldn't really allow it.
"When we were little, our dad used to take Alex and I camping in the woods as soon as summer started to come in. It was the most exciting part of summer for us."
She smiled at the memory, missing those carefree days.
"That must have been a beautiful experience," Lena murmured, "We'll do it one day, I promise."
Kara placed her head on Lena's shoulder. Even if they weren't hidden in the woods somewhere, whenever Kara was with Lena, she felt like the outside world didn't exist. It was just the two of them, wrapped in each other's presence, content.
-
Weeks went by and their busy schedules caught up with them, all thoughts of a camping trip were expelled from Kara's mind. She had been busy at Catco, finally able to prove her worth as a reporter, which resulted in Snapper drowning her in stories. On top of that, the bad guys didn't take a break and Supergirl was out almost every night, trying to restore balance to her city. Kara was exhausted, but she found solace in lazy nights and stolen moments with Lena. But Lena had been busy, too. L Corp's expansion had taken up most of her time, and often, the two of them just fell asleep when they were snuggled together, finding peace that eluded them throughout their day.
One night, Kara returned to her apartment to find Lena lounging on her couch, a mischievous smirk on her lips.
"Lets go to dinner. I think we both could use a break." Lena said, before Kara could even shut her balcony door.
Kara was starving, and she had missed Lena, so she agreed immediately and went to change.
In Lena's limo, Kara saw Lena pulse with nervous energy, and heard her erratic heartbeat. When she looked out the window, she saw that they were at the private airstrip, and not at a restaurant.
"Lena," Kara turned to her girlfriend with suspicion, "Where are we going?"
"Do you trust me?" Lena asked, her fingers reaching for Kara's. Kara nodded.
"Just go with it, then. It's a surprise."
Lena excitedly planted a quick kiss on Kara's lips before jumping out of the limo. The driver stood at their door, two duffel bags at his feet.
"Lena, we can't just leave the city!" Kara gasped, realization dawning.
"Don't worry," Lena laughed, "I have made provisions for our absence. Now just relax, or I'm going to have to make you relax."
At that, Kara's heart leapt and her stomach tightened deliciously. She decided to go along with it.
When they embarked on Lena's private jet, Kara couldn't keep her curiosity hidden. But as soon as the doors closed, Lena evaded any questions by distracting Kara in the most wonderful way possible. Kara could do nothing but let go and surrender herself to Lena.
After a few hours, they landed, and Lena guided Kara out of the plane and into a waiting Jeep. There, she placed a blindfold on Kara. Kara could sense Lena's excitement, which only added to her own. Lena evaded Kara's questions once again, opting to play music as they drove. The sound of the engine indicated that they were moving, but Kara still couldn't see a thing.
Finally, they came to a stop, and Lena guided Kara out of the car. She carefully removed the blindfold from Kara's eyes, placing a soft kiss on Kara's neck. Kara gasped. Before her stood a picturesque campsite, overlooking a serene lake. The sunlight danced upon the water's surface, casting a shimmering reflection.
Kara's breath caught in her throat. The campsite was unlike anything she had ever experienced before. It was luxuriously set up, with a tent that seemed straight out of a magazine perched on the edge of a glistening lake. The tranquility of the surroundings enveloped them, and Kara felt a sense of awe wash over her. Lena.
"You remembered," Kara managed to say, her voice filled with wonder. She had mentioned this to Lena only once, and yet Lena had remembered. Lena Luthor was full of surprises, and Kara was undeniably in love with her.
Lena grinned, her eyes sparkling, rivalling the water. "Do you like it?"
"Like it?" Kara responded, "I love it! This is amazing, Lena. I've never seen a camping spot so beautiful. Or this fancy."
"Well, I couldn't let my beloved reporter suffer through roughing it in the wilderness. This is camping, Luthor style," Lena quipped, gesturing to the perfectly set up tent and the luxurious amenities that surrounded them.
Kara laughed, appreciating Lena's attention to detail. "Luthor style, huh? I have to admit, I'm impressed," she replied, playfully nudging Lena.
Lena's lips curved into a fond smile. "I wanted to make this weekend special for you, Kara," she confessed, her voice soft and sincere. "And don't worry about a thing. I took time off from L Corp, and I made sure J'onn and Alex ready to handle any DEO matters that might come up. This is our weekend, just for us."
"Lena, you know that you didn't have to do all of this. It must have cost a fortune with the flights and everything."
Lena's fingers brushed Kara's cheek, her touch gentle and comforting. "Kara, what's the point of being a billionaire if I can't use it to make you happy?" she said, her voice filled with genuine affection. "You deserve the world, Kara. Let me give it to you."
Kara was taken aback by Lena's words. No one had ever gone to such lengths to make her feel cherished and loved. As Supergirl, she had always been duty-bound, focused on doing what was right for others and as Kara, she was always trying to make her loved ones happy. But to have someone care for her so deeply, to witness Lena's unwavering love—it stirred a profound sense of gratitude within her.
"I love you, Lena," Kara whispered, her voice carrying all the love and devotion she held for the woman before her.
Lena's eyes softened, and she tilted her head, her lips mere inches away from Kara's. "Kara, you mean everything to me," she whispered. Unable to contain her emotions any longer, Kara leaned in, her lips meeting Lena's in a tender, passionate kiss. In that moment, Kara felt something for Lena that was deeper than words could express, so she poured it into her kiss, sealing their connection under the wide expanse of the blue sky.
-
As darkness fell, Lena skilfully lit the campfire much to Kara's surprise, who couldn't stop staring at her as she worked. When Lena was finished, they had a dinner of perfectly packed pizza and pot stickers, with crisp wine.
When they were done, the warm glow of the fire enveloped them and they sat side by side, wrapped in a blanket, gazing up at the twinkling stars above.
Reaching down into a bag at her feet, Lena produced a s'mores kit, and Kara's eyes lit up with excitement.
"S'mores!" she exclaimed, her voice brimming with delight. "I can't remember the last time I had these!"
Lena chuckled softly, her eyes sparkling. "Confession time: I've never actually made s'mores before."
"You've never tried s'mores before?" Kara asked, a mixture of surprise and anticipation in her voice.
Lena shook her head, a hint of bashfulness coloring her cheeks. "No, it's never really come up," she admitted, her voice filled with a tinge of vulnerability. Kara's heart ached. She knew that Lena's childhood was cold and clinical, devoid of any warmth or real love. Lena wouldn't have had these experiences. She hoped that she could make Lena's future as happy and warm as possible, starting with this.
"I'll show you how," she smiled at Lena, "It's a very specific and delicate process to get it juuuust right but don't worry, I'm the master."
They settled by the fire, and Kara began to teach Lena the art of making s'mores. Their hands brushed as they shared ingredients, and their laughter filled the night air.
When Lena bit into her first s'more, her eyes closed and a moan escaped her lips, causing Kara to laugh.
"Is it weird that I'm jealous of that s'more?" she joked, teasing Lena.
"This is magical, Kara. How have I not had this before?" She proceeded to eat the rest of her s'more, not caring about the chocolate that fell onto her fingers.
Under the flickering firelight, Kara couldn't help but admire Lena's beauty. The way her blue-green eyes sparkled, reflecting the flames, the curve of her neck, the impeccable jaw, her dark hair, left loose in a rare vision, and her lips- covered in chocolate. It drove Kara crazy. Even in a pair of shorts, Lena exuded a sense of regality and perfection.
She couldn't help but stare. Snuggling up to Lena, she captured her lips in a sweet, lingering kiss, tasting the remnants of the s'mores on Lena's lips.
A fire ignited within them, and they couldn't resist the growing intensity. The kiss deepened until they were lost in the intoxicating dance of desire. Lena pulled Kara onto her lap, s'mores forgotten, kissing away the chocolate that had unknowingly fallen onto Kara's neck.
Lena broke away, panting heavily, "Inside." she said, and Kara couldn't help but obey, her desires deepening with every moment. They tumbled onto the soft bed in the tent, lost in each other.
And as the night wore on, their bodies entwined, Kara knew that this weekend, this stolen pocket of time, would forever be something special to her.
-
Hours turned into moments, and soon, the first rays of sunlight began to peek through the tent flaps. Kara found herself wrapped in Lena's arms, their bodies tangled in a comfortable embrace. The sounds of nature surrounded them—the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves.
Lena stirred next to Kara, her eyes fluttering open, revealing a sleepy gaze that made Kara's heart race. As their eyes met, a soft smile tugged at the corners of Lena's lips.
"Good morning," Kara whispered in an effort to keep the softness of the moment.
Lena's voice was laced with sleepiness as she replied, her words barely above a breath. "Good morning, darling"
They lingered in that quiet moment, their eyes locked in an unspoken language of affection and understanding, and Kara felt a wave of appreciation for her girlfriend. Kara couldn't help but be grateful for Lena's presence in her life, the way she illuminated Kara's world, even in the simplest moments, with her beautiful, sleepy eyes.
"No one has ever done something like this for me before. Thank you, Lena." Kara said, pressing her lips softly against Lena's.
Lena's fingers brushed against Kara's lips. "You deserve all the love in the world, Kara Danvers."
--
The world may have awaited them, with its challenges and responsibilities, but in that quiet moment, they were once again lost in each other- a Super and her Luthor with an unbreakable love.

History of National State Fair Food Day
State fairs are a summer staple. Taking place once a year, people flock to the fairgrounds to enjoy the stalls, livestock, rides, and gifts. But let’s be honest, it’s all about the fried and delicious food, on sticks, and otherwise. The food is memorable and we look forward to enjoying it again all year long. Some of the best state foods include corn dogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes, deep-fried cookies, cheese on a stick, and chicken wings.
The first U.S. state fair was held in Syracuse, New York in 1841, and has been running successfully every year since. The second state fair was in Detroit, Michigan, which ran annually from 1849 to 2009.
Originally, state fairs were a display and celebration of the country’s agriculture; the produce, crops, and the growers who worked dedicatedly to cultivate a successful harvest. It highlighted the agricultural pride of each state, its local vendors, and regional foodways. As the structure of the country gradually shifted from agrarian to industrial, state fairs evolved to include music, amusement rides, games, and more industrial products.
But why wait for the state fair every year when you can enjoy the mouthwatering state fair food at home? Food Service Direct has you covered with everything you’ll need — from supplies to ingredients, for recreating foods-on-a-stick, cultural dishes, over-the-top desserts, and more. Last song you listened to:  Guts's theme song from Berserk (It's actually a calming song)
Last movie you watched: M3gan
Last series you watched: None sadly. Been more focused on work and schoolwork.
Series you’re currently watching: N/A
Current obsession: What the heck my dissertation topic is going to be (kind of have a general direction but it needs to be more specific), also my cats.
Dream place to visit: South Korea, Egypt, the UK, Ireland, Alaska, Mexico
A place you’ve been that you want to go back to: I would like to go back to Japan, especially Kofu, Kyoto, and Fujiyoshida. Kofu was my group’s home base and I loved it. I also want to see Kyoto again and I miss being very close to Mt. Fuji at Fujiyoshida. I would also like to return to the rainforests in Belize, and see my tribe's Homeland in the warmer months when there is more flora, too. I miss Salem, MA too. It was a pretty town with a rich history like the Witch Trials.
Something you want: Peace and healing for the Earth and all life on it. I also really want my family, friends (IRL and online), and pets to be happy, safe, and live long and healthy lives. I think about them every day and I love them so.
I also want you all to be safe, happy, loved, live a long life and be healthy.
Currently working on: One of my research papers, which is on community-based participatory research and tribally-driven research frameworks. I need to prep my presentations and start my advocacy strategy for another class too.
