Today, on things I didn't know.
Watching Rebel Moon and fell down a Charlie Hunnam IMDB hole, which led me to this.

It's been more than 20 years and I still think of these idiots like once a month.

Charlie Hunnam is currently promoting Netflix's space fantasy REBEL MOON: PART ONE: A CHILD OF FIRE,

directed by Zack Snyder, from a script by Snyder, Shay Hatten (ARMY OF THE DEAD) and Kurt Johnstad (300 and 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE) starring Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ray Fisher, Doona Bae and not one, but two GAME OF THRONES Daario Naharises - Michiel Huisman as the frustratingly hard-headed Gunnar and Ed Skrein

as film's Big Bad Admiral Atticus Noble.

Hunnam plays Kai, an Irish (and it's a fairly passing Irish accent, if I may say so myself) mercenary who is recruited by Boutella's Kora on her mission to stop Noble's plan for domination.

While promoting the film, Hunnam spoke with British GQ and the interviewer asked him if he had seen the mention of his QUEER AS FOLK character Nathan Maloney in the 2022 Showtime reboot of the series.
Nathan being fit as hell tracks. Nathan being on Grindr doesn't. He doesn't need the apps. He could pull effortlessly.

While he didn't know about the mention, he did talk about how, during the 25th anniversary of the original, that they were talks of a revival that didn't pan out and that he would love to revisit the character. Which is refreshing because so many actors try to distance themselves from earlier roles.

Unlike Margot Robbie who appeared last year in the finale of the Australian soap NEIGHBOURS, which she was on from 2008-2011.

So good on Charlie for always bigging up his time on the series and, in particular working with Aidan Gillen who he reunited with on Guy Ritchie's KING ARTHUR.
Charlie and QAF - ***NSFW bits***

Never forget when Hunnam dropped out of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and people speculated that it was due to the nudity and he had to correct the public record real quick.
Yes, we know, babes.

Only Friends เพื่อนต้องห้าม Ep. 3
WELL.
This is my reaction basically every week so far, but it bears repeating. What a beautiful, beautiful mess.
Oh no no no Boston, you do not get to call Nick คนดี/khon dii after you just basically called him your regular squeeze.
The contrast between how Sand/Ray and Boston/Nick are portrayed is almost jarring. I love it.
Jojo and Ninew cameo!!
I was waiting for this scene!!! Ray really does need a shrink.
I love Cheuam and hope we get to know her better soon.
The friend group is so surprised that Ray is volunteering something that's not money! And that he seems sober and engaged! One word: ooof.
Nick pushing back!! Good.
Silent disco, huh. Mew eating all this information UP.
Nick is learning. It's giving Nathan Maloney learning from Stuart Allan Jones vibes.
Sand has their number 😂
Oh this pool party is going to be a DISASTER
Boston is SO bitter and I just want to learn how he ended up like this, like, whoa. I'd ask him not to deflect, not to lie to Nick, but that's clearly outside the realm of possibility for now.
Nick keeps asking questions he doesn't want the answers to or that he will be getting answers to he won't like, but he's also smart and this is going to go very badly for Boston. Unfortunately it'll probably also go badly for folks in the blast radius, which I suspect is pretty much everyone.
Sand and Ray flirting is giving me life, it'll hurt so bad down the line
OK, so Sand definitely knows SOMETHING about Top
Boston is terrible, having Neo play him definitely was the right choice because otherwise I don't think we'd be nearly as sympathetic towards him.
That bass line is anxiety inducing
I'm going to be devastated when Sand/Ray fall apart
I love that Top stood Boston up … Uuugh spoke too soon
Ray's face journey when Sand asked whether he kissed Ton and Mew like that!!!!
Also Sand does not seem very upset about Ray not taking no for an answer … Oh no.
Sand is like why am I even surprised
Boston is such a scumbag. You're the one who advertised Mew as a virgin to Top (like that's something that matters), Boston, in case you forgot.
Oh so Ray and Mew hooked up before, huh?
Oh dear, oh dear
Nick keeping with the theme of angling for information that'll make him feel bad. Don't do it, buddy.
Another repeating theme: at this point, shit hitting the fan is the basic setting; I need a better scale. I'm most curious to see what exactly Top and Sand's deal is, what that Ray-Mew hookup was, and what Nick is going to do with that recording.

TV: Queer As Folk (1999-2000)

About the new Queer as folk: it was fine? I guess. I don't think they did themselves any favour calling it QaF, they should've just gone with a new concept. You're just gonna have people comparing everything.
I did like the lil QaF UK nod when Brodie showed adult Nathan/Charlie Hunnams grinder picture tho. That was almost sweet.
The end was weird.

Brad Pitt in Babel (Alejandro González Iñárritu, 2006)
Cast: Brad PItt, Cate Blanchett, Mohamed Akhzam, Peter Wight, Harriet Walter, Michael Maloney, Boubker Ait El Caid, Said Tarchani, Mustapha Rachidi, Adriana Barraza, Gael García Bernal, Elle Fanning, Nathan Gamble, Clifton Collins Jr., Michael Peña, Rinko Kikuchi, Koji Yakusho, Satoshi Nikaido. Screenplay: Guillermo Arriaga. Cinematography: Rodrigo Prieto. Production design: Brigitte Broch. Film editing: Douglas Crise, Stephen Mirrione. Music: Gustavo Santaolalla.
I would like to watch a movie about the calamity that befalls a Moroccan family when they acquire a rifle to shoot the jackals that prey on their herd of goats. Or a movie about a nanny for a well-to-do San Diego couple who unwisely decides to take her employers' small children with her when she goes to her son's wedding in Mexico. Or a movie about a deaf Japanese teenager who suffers from sexual confusion in the aftermath of her mother's suicide. But I don't want to watch them all at once, which is what Babel forces us to do. It's a terrifically ambitious film, with some stunning location work in four widespread countries, and it has some great performances, particularly by Oscar nominees Adriana Barraza as the nanny and Rinko Kikuchi as the teenager. It probably deserved the nominations for best picture and for Alejandro González Iñárritu's direction, too. (It won for Gustavo Santaolalla's score.) But intercutting the three stories mentioned above and centering them on the plight of the San Diego couple (Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett) severely reduces their dramatic force and interest. Why, I wonder, were Pitt's and Blanchett's characters on a bus tour of Morocco with a bunch of rather unpleasant Brits? If, as the movie seems to suggest, it's to work on their relationship after their loss of a child to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, it's a very odd choice indeed. Their movie-star presence also skews the film away from the performances of the less well-known international stars. Structurally, the Japanese story seems poorly integrated: Its link to the other stories is that the rifle that turns up in Morocco was originally owned by the Japanese girl's father. What struck me as strongest about the movie was its subtext: the bureaucratic paralysis of the American superpower in the wake of 9/11. Pitt and Blanchett are unable to get the help they need in Morocco because of the paranoia about Islamic terrorism that forces an unwanted and unnecessary caution on the U.S. State Department. American immigration policy also prevents a sensible resolution to the problem of the nanny and the children. Babel is certainly not without its rewards, but a scaling-back of its ambitions might have produced a better movie -- or maybe three or four of them.
