Continuing from last post... ~ For the most part, the 3 groups of guests I hosted in 2018 joined me specifically to see the Great Migration… who wouldn’t want to see up to 2 million animals working in herds to cross a treacherous river as part of a tens-of-thousands year old ritual!? BUT, going to see the Migration isn’t just about the wildebeest. You’re able to see a diversity of species here found in only a couple of other locations in Africa – most notably, the Big Five. ~ If you haven’t heard of the Big Five, here’s the low-down. They were originally the Top 5 most dangerous animals to hunt in Africa, consisting of 1 Lion, 2 Buffalo, 3 Leopard, 4 Elephant, 5 Black Rhino – but are now the benchmark of an ultimate African safari, minus the hunting part. ~ Last year, on the 1st of October in Serengeti National Park, I led my final group of 4 safari-goers for 2018 to sightings of ALL FIVE of the Big 5, PLUS a Wildebeest Migration, in ONE day, in what was one of the most exhilarating, rewarding days of being an Expedition Leader in my career. The moments of awe, of overwhelming silence as we all gawked in turn at a Lions, Buffalo, Elephants, a lone female Leopard then a lone Black Rhino bull on sunset, plus an earlier Migration, was unlike anything I've ever experienced. At times there weren't words to capture the moment, our wildly-thrown high-fives could've taken eyes out, but the energy and excitement was truly something else! ~ I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to offer THE Great Migration, and THE Big Five, in one x 9-day ultimate safari package to one of the most unique natural ecosystems existing in the world today! Genetic testing on corals

which species should we save now that may be able to deal with climatic changes later?? 

Experts are detecting corals which have better adaptations to survive in a warmer world, and hope to use these corals to recolonise damaged reefs.

Until recently, there has been little evidence that any corals will be able to adapt rapidly enough to match even the lower projected rates of temperature rise.

Sometimes it is just easier to state the economic value of coral reefs, regardless of the vital ecosystem services they provide. Experts suggest that the $ AU 5.8 billion tourist Great Barrier Reef industry will be functionally extinct by 2050.
