Y/N about Peter: He thinks I’m just as uncool as I thought my dad was. It’s the great uncool circle of life.
Natasha: Well, honey, if it helps I think you’re cool.
Y/N: *Smiles*
Y/N: ... it doesn’t.

Remember me pt4
Natasha sat across from you. She was getting ready for her date and you were getting ready for yours. Steve had decided to make it a double date. Much to your dismay. You certainly didn’t want to watch Bucky fawn all over the woman you may have very intense and confusing emotions towards. “You excited?” She asked, and you glanced at her.
“I- I um have never been on a date before, so I don’t know. I’m more nervous.”
She leans over and places a hand on yours. The warmth of her hand seeped into yours, making you feel all kinds of things. Your eyes accidentally drop to her cleavage, which was on display, gorgeously and you quickly rip your eyes away, your face flushing like mad. Nat smiled slightly. “He’s going to love you in that dress.” She grinned. Your eyebrows furrowed.
“How do you know?”
She went to say something, but she clamped her mouth shut again. “He just will. I know it.” She murmured, her thumb caressing your hand. The warmth from her touch seeped into your hand, even a small touch like this left your skin sizzling with warmth. You smiled at her.
“Bucky is going to fall over when he sees you.”
Natasha rolls her eyes. “Please.” She muttered. You scoff.
“That dress is gorgeous in its self but you really pull it off Natalia.” You whisper. Your eyes connect for several intense seconds before she stands up and you follow suit. She hands you something and you look at it. It’s a little necklace, it is a little diamond, and it’s really pretty.
“Will you put this on me?” You nod.
You gently move her hair off her neck so it didn’t get caught on the clasp. You place the necklace around her neck and secured it. You let your hands fall to rest on her shoulders closer to her neck. And your eyes caught hers through the mirror. Her eyes are captivating and you felt the nerves bunch in your stomach.
“Can I ask you something?”
You nod.
“The letter you wrote. Did you mean it?” She asks, a slight vulnerability to her tone. You swallowed, licking your now dry lips.
“I meant everything.” You say and her cheek curved up, but she didn’t smile. She just nodded.
“So the part where you said-”
“Hey ladies. Ready to go?” Bucky said as he walked into the room. His eyes fell over Natasha’s body. He smirked as his eyes stared at her cleavage. He was shameless in his staring. This made you feel… you didn’t know some form of anger, but not quite anger…
Natasha pulled up her dress and hid her cleavage, much to Bucky’s dismay. She smiled tightly and held out her hand. He took it gently, and they walked out. You followed silently, falling back so you couldn’t hear what they were saying. You jumped when you felt an arm link through yours. You glanced to the side and smiled. “Hey Wanda.” You smiled.
“Hey, y/n you look amazing!” She grinned, squealing a little. This caused Natasha to look back. You didn’t notice. She scowled slightly when she noticed your arm around Wanda’s shoulder.
You sigh happily. Steve came into view, and you felt a slight disappointment. He stopped and stared at you for several seconds. “Wow. You look good!” He smiled. You saw Natasha roll her eyes and your brows furrowed in confusion. You smiled at Steve.
“Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself.”
“Haha, I bet Steve can’t wait to see you out of that dress, Y/n.” Bucky joked and your eyes widened and your face flushed.
“I-I…”
“She’s not like that.” Natasha cut in. Glaring at her date.
“Are you?” He asked with a hopeful look in his eyes. You scowled as she smirked at him.
“Play your cards right… and maybe.”
He smirked, squeezing her hip. You glanced away, focusing on Steve. “Ignore him.” He said with a slight eye roll. You smiled. He held out his arm, and you nodded, taking his arms. Wanda smiled.
“Have a good time, you two!” she beamed.
“Thank you Wands.” You grinned.
The four of you walked out of the building and slid into one of the many, many limos that pull up here, per Stark’s request. The seats were heated, ensuring that the sleek, expensive leather wasn’t cold. You sat by the window, Steve settled in next to you, and Natasha and Bucky slipped in opposite us. You secured your seatbelt and smiled at the girl in front of you. She smirked back at you. Her eyes dropped down to your legs and you watched as her smirk widened a fraction. The air seemed to still and you couldn’t focus on anything but the fact that her eyes were on you. You shifted in your seat before crossing your leg over the other one. The action caused your dress to ride up. Her eyes snapped to the newly exposed skin. She swallowed, and then the moment ended as soon as Bucky slipped his hand onto Natasha’s thigh. You clenched your jaw, looking out the window. Hating the fact he was touching her in such a way.
Steve’s arm fell around your shoulders, and you smiled, leaning into him. He was always so comfortable, and he was very sweet and he’d be the perfect boyfriend. That much was obvious, but he wasn’t… her.
“I think we’re here.” He said, leaning down to whisper in my ear. “You really do look beautiful, y/n.” You flushed, smiling down at your feet.
“Thank you.” You whispered back, reaching up and linking your hand with his that was still around your shoulders. He grinned in approval.
Soon enough, the car rolled to a stop, and you felt less anxious now. Everyone got out and Natasha fell into step right beside you. Steve had linked his hand with yours, but you didn't acknowledge it much, you were far more concentrated on the fact that Natasha's hand was softly brushing against yours as you walked. You glanced at her. She was smiling slightly, and you weren't really sure why.
--
"Can I take your order, or do you need a little more time?" The waiter asked, she looked about 16 and was very nervous waiting on a table full of three Avengers. You smiled at her to which she returned immediately.
"Um, no, I think we're ready." Bucky spoke up and everyone agreed. We ordered our meals and the girl, whose nametag said "Emma" rushed back to the kitchen. Natasha was discussing something with Steve. You tuned out of the conversation to stare at her. Her hair was curled and fell over her shoulders, the ends stopping where her dress started, the perfect spot where her shoulders meet her neck. You kept your eyes on her for a moment longer before looking down at your utensils absentmindedly spinning your knife around in circles.
“So how did you guys meet?” Steve asked glancing between Natasha and you. You looked up your whole body perking up, smiling at the memory.
“Well, I was told I was abandoned by my parents and so I was taken to the red room and well… it was horrible but what they made us do was worse. And I was there both before and after they invented the chemicals that forced us to do their bidding. But Natasha saved me I guess is the only way I can explain it. I had just finished my first mission and was ready to end it all I hated the way I felt afterwards. I hated myself. Um Natalia found me and stoped me. After that we became friends and we’ve been close ever since. She is the only person I had ever loved.” You confessed smiling brightly by the end of your confession. Natasha reached over and squeezed my hand.
“Wow… I guess something like that does bond you.” Bucky said with a gentle smile. “But how did you end up where we found you?”
“HYDRA is always looking for new blood, especially someone who is as disposable as I am. I guess my skills and my past helped them want to choose me… I don’t know I had been out of the red room's influence for a few years and then I was captured by HYDRA and well, you know how that ended.”
“Did you get a chance to live?” Bucky asked with a smile.
You nodded. “Yes. But I haven’t lived it all.” You say with a wistful smile. You realised Natasha’s hand was still in yours.
“We can help with that.” Nat smirked. You grinned.
“I’d love that.”
Her eyes didn’t leave yours until you could no longer hold her gaze. You smiled, looking down at the table. Luckily, there was no awkwardness as the waitress came back with our food and the drinks. She smiled nervously before departing again. You gingerly reached for the glass of wine and smiled at the taste.
“Y/n?” Steve said softly. You glanced at him. “Did you evert try and find out about your parents.” His question wasn’t that of Ill-intention but the dark feelings that emerged from it had you steeling your face so there would be no indication that it had hurt your feelings.
“They left. Isn’t that all that matters?” You said, raising a brow.
“But surely you’d like to know more about them?” Bucky pressed. I fisted my dress, squeezing tightly.
“They aren’t really my parents. They didn’t want me. Why should I feel obliged to want them?”
“But-”
“She answered your questions. Lay off.” Natasha cut in. You threw her a grateful smile, and the conversation died there. You took a long gulp of your wine and as soon as you put it down, the waiter was back to refill it. There was light conversation at the table, nothing quite so heavy as before to which you were really glad about. Nat and Steve spoke to each other the most. It was all about different missions they had been on or completed in the last few months. Natasha was grinning as she described how crafty she had been in getting information out of a suspect who was planning to sell an earthquake device capable of levelling a whole sub-city in one go to a very dangerous war lord in Iraq, she had been particularly cunning in how she got the information out of him. You smiled at her, loving the way her eyes shined as she talked about the people she saved and how grateful the president had been.
"Where did you go after the red room was disbanded?" Steve asked, turning the conversation to you. You looked up at him, a gentle smile lifting your lips at th memory of your once home.
"A small city called Noto in Italy. It was quiet, peaceful, and it was my comfort place for years. I loved it there."
"Well, maybe you can go back there?" Bucky said. You knew he meant no harm in that statement, but the thought of leaving Natalia again so soon after finding her again, you frowned. That thought making you uneasy. You cast a thoughtful glance towards Bucky. He was staring back softly.
"I- I'd love to but my home there doesn't exist anymore, I don't exist. HYDRA eradicated everyone I had a connection with. Blood ran thick down the streets of my village. MY friends are no longer alive because of me. I couldn't go back." You explain with a slight shrug. Truthfully, you were distraught when you saw what HYDRA had done to those who you loved, those who had loved you.
"I despise that organisation!" Nat spat venomously. You shrugged, trying to act impassive. Natalia cast you a look, and you knew she knew that you cared much more than you were letting on. The men, however, remained unaware. Sitting here staring at the woman you've loved for years, you realised that after tonight you couldn't continue your relationship with Steve. It was best to remain friends. He was a good guy and you didn't want to hurt him by continuing this facade. He would never truly know or understand the darkness that dwelled within you, never truly understand the urges HYDRA burned into you, never truly understand you as a whole. He had this image of you, the doe-eyed victim who needed to be carried out in the arms of a hero instead of saving yourself.
To him, you were someone to protect, to keep safe and shielded from the world's horrors. You knew that you wouldn't be happy being trapped, being constantly protected.
You knew you were destined for more than that.
You picked up your wine glass, determination burning through you. Never again would you be weak. Never again would you need protection. Need shielding. You were going to become more, so much more than the shell you were when The Avengers found you.
You vowed to yourself to become better, stronger.
Dinner passed by quickly and soon enough, you were in the limo ride home. Natalia had been quiet ever since Steve had asked about the years I was free. Though you had caught her staring at you from time to time.
The limo pulled up to the compound, and you all got out. Nat held out a hand for you and you delicately slipped your hands into hers. Her calloused hands gripped yours as she helped you out of the limo. You smiled sweetly at her when both your feet were on the ground. Steve got out last and Bucky took Natasha's hand tugging her towards the building, her eyes didn't leave yours until you looked down at your feet. She sighed softly before she followed an eager looking Bucky inside, no doubt to do all kinds of sordid activities that make your blood boil thinking about it.
Steve's hand brushed your lower back, pulling your thoughts away from the devastatingly beautiful, red-haired assassin. "Can we walk for a moment? I need to talk to you." You said softly, the nights wind ruffling your hair that hung by your shoulders. He smiled nodding.
The pair of you walked through the compound's garden, which is so much more beautiful when it's coloured by the moon. The fountain in the middle of the large garden was on, creating a soft sound of water trickling down from the spout at the top to the pool of azure at the bottom. The two of you had sat down on the edge of the fountain. Steve had a knotting feeling in his stomach as if he knew that this was going to be the last date they went on.
"Steve," You, started looking into his ice-blue eyes. He smiled at you, encouraging you
"I think I know where this is heading, y/n." He said, and you looked down.
"I'm sorry."
"Hey, don't apologise," He said lifting your chin so you were once again looking into his eyes. "It would be very easy to love you, even easier to be your friend." He murmured with a bright grin. You smiled brightly back at him.
"Thank you for understanding." You whisper. He shook his head, waving the thought away. He leaned forward, jumping off the perch of the fountain and held out a hand for you. You gripped his hand and stood. The two of you walked back to the compound arm in arm until you reached your room. He opened the door for you and you smiled, turning to face him. He leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on your cheek.
"Thank you for a wonderful evening, Y/n. Goodnight." He grinned. You smiled in response before bidding him goodnight.
You readied for bed and jumped in snuggling in the warmth of the duvet, happy that Steve had understood and took the ending of things well. You closed your eyes and the image of that body in that dress filled your mind making you blush a little. You fell asleep with a smile on your face.

Come Back To Me (Pt. 2)
Yelena Belova x Reader (Romantic), Natasha Romanoff x Reader (Platonic), Wanda Maximoff x Reader (Minor/Romantic)
Word Count: 6.4k
Warnings: It gets a little spicy at the end but nothing too explicit happens
A/N: Sorry for the long wait. Here’s part two!
Part One // Part Three
The first thing you noticed as you returned to the land of the living were the soft kisses being pressed along your face. They were strung about, some along your forehead, others on your cheeks. The only place they didn’t land were on your own lips.
Grumbling under your breath, you turn your face and bury it into your sheets, desperately trying to hold onto the last pieces of your slumber. Maybe if you tried hard enough you could sink back into unconsciousness.
Your actions earn you a quiet chuckle and the kisses increase tenfold. “It’s time to wake up, my love.”
Even half asleep, your heart can’t help but flutter at the voice. Slowly cracking an eye open, you’re met with green eyes sparkling with mirth.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.”
You let out an unintelligible mumble, but it wasn’t hard to tell what you wanted. You’re granted your wish when a soft pair of lips descend upon your own. You raise your hands, fingers tangling in her hair in an effort to pull her closer.
Wanda follows your directions and sinks into your embrace.
Eventually she pulls back and you sigh wistfully, hands falling back onto the bed.
“Hi,” you whisper, a small smile on your face.
“Hi,” Wanda parrots back with an equally as soft smile.
Dating Wanda Maximoff was one of the easiest decisions you’ve ever made.
The two of you first met in your intro to psychology class. You had been running late the first day of class, and like all cliches, the only seat available when you got to class was the one next to the brunette. Wanda sent you a smile when you sat down and you were instantly smitten. Late night studying and 2am coffee runs turned into nights tangled up in the sheets and breakfast dancing around the communal kitchen. By the time October rolled around, the two of you were dating.
Natasha often made fun of how sickeningly sweet the two of you were, but neither of you could be bothered to care. Given that you and Natasha were dorming together you knew better than to piss off your best friend, but you could tell that she was more amused than anything about your newfound relationship. So you and Wanda continued to be couplely and Natasha continued to complain.
While you’ve never been happier by Wanda’s side, you would be lying if you said you never thought about Yelena. Being with Wanda made it easier to forget the younger girl, but every once in a while you could still feel the ache that usually accompanied your thoughts about her.
A part of you wanted more than anything to call Yelena. The first week of school you were tempted to call her so many times. But you didn’t. Out of anger, pettiness, or lingering jealousy, you weren’t sure. And then as the time dragged on and neither of you called the other, you knew that calling now would only pop the bubble of denial the both of you were living in.
Adjusting her legs, Wanda better settles against your hips, effectively straddling your body. Your hands automatically move to her waist to steady her, but before Wanda could lean down for another kiss, Natasha’s voice cuts through the air.
“Could the two of you stop being so disgustingly sweet? I’m going to get a cavity.”
“What’s that?” Pretending not to hear Natasha, you pull Wanda back down on top of you, making exaggerated kissing sounds as you pepper kisses against the brunette’s face. Natasha groans loudly, and soon Wanda’s laughing too hard for you to continue.
You release your hands and Wanda collapses against you, pressing her face tight against your collarbone. Although you were wide awake now, the warm weight of Wanda on top of you really made sleep more tempting.
But the sound of Natasha letting out another groan has you quickly raising a hand to flip her off.
“Woke up on the wrong side of bed today, huh, Nat?”
Natasha doesn’t even bother to look up from her laptop. “Yeah, well not all of us got twelve hours of sleep last night.”
You hear Wanda hum in agreement on your chest and you roll your eyes at the betrayal. “You guys are just jealous that I finished my finals before the rest of you.”
That seems to get Natasha’s attention. Her eyes narrow at you, mouth opening to send back a sharp retort. Wanda beats her to it.
You let out a shriek as Wanda blows a raspberry on your collarbone. You try to buck her off but she stays put, earning herself a laugh from your best friend across the room.
“Knew there was a reason I liked you, Maximoff.”
With a sudden surge of energy, you fling Wanda across your bed. She lands with a huff, lips drawn down into a pout.
You do your best to steel your heart, but the second Wanda makes a grabby motion with her hands, you’re helpless to stop yourself from caving to her demands. Scooting over, you tuck your body close to hers again.
Wanda’s hand finds yours with ease, and your heart skips a beat when your fingers are linked together. Giving your intertwined hands a squeeze, you settle into a comfortable silence, content with basking in the other’s presence.
Well, you were content until you remembered about your winter break plans.
“What time is your flight out?”
The way Wanda slightly tensed up would have been missable. But you felt it. There was no mistaking the fake calmness in her voice when she responds. “Uh, well I’m not actually heading to Sokovia anymore.”
“What?” You prop yourself up on your elbows to get a better look at Wanda.
Your heart sinks when you see the way Wanda avoids your eyes, fingers fidgeting against yours. “Pietro and I were going to fly home, but our parents called last night. Told us that they would be away at a conference during the holidays.”
Slightly frowning at the information, you gently nudge Wanda with your shoulder. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Wanda shrugs, eyes cast down in embarrassment. “I didn’t want to bother you. It’s fine. I’ll just hang around campus until classes start up again.”
If anything, her words only made your frown deepen. Just the thought of Wanda staying in an empty dorm by herself while you were surrounded with friends and family at home made your stomach twist in all the wrong ways.
That’s why your next words come out with no hesitation. “Why don’t you come with me and Nat?”
Wanda blinks in surprise, not expecting your offer. “I don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re not. I’m offering.”
Natasha butts in, nodding enthusiastically from her spot at her desk. “It’s only a two hour drive, it’s not too far away.”
Wanda didn’t look too convinced, but the second you saw the look in her eye, you knew you could win her over.
After all, it would just be you, Wanda, and Natasha packed into your car for two hours for a quick trip back to your hometown. A hometown where you grew up, where your parents still resided, and where Yelena was waiting for your return.
What could go wrong?
---
The three of you got up at the crack of dawn to drive back. Natasha had wanted to escape all the traffic of students trying to get off campus at the same time, and although you wanted to sleep, you could see her point.
What resulted was two hours of Natasha blaring country music through your speakers. You had initially cringed at the ear-splitting volume, but every time you’d turn the music down, Natasha would crank the volume three levels above where it originally was. You soon learned that watching the sparkle of glee in Wanda’s eyes was worth sacrificing your hearing for a while.
You drop Natasha off at her house before making your way to yours. For a brief second you considered getting out of the car to greet Yelena. It’s been months since you’ve last seen or spoken to the blonde. You were itching to see her, even if it was just a brief glance. But then you thought better of it, not ready to have the big confrontation you knew that would be waiting for you.
Waving at Natasha, you pull out of the driveway. If only you had waited a bit longer, if you had looked up, you would have seen saddened green eyes tracking your disappearing car from the half ajar front door.
---
Your parents loved Wanda.
The Sokovian was a bit nervous meeting them at first, but they welcomed her with open arms and loving smiles. Your heart grew at how easily she fit in.
Usually you would spend all your breaks over at Natasha’s house, but this year you spent your first couple days showing Wanda around town. You loved the way her eyes would widen at every new thing she saw, excitement at exploring the place you grew up.
Natasha would join your expeditions every here and there, but you found yourself hoping to catch a glimpse of blonde hair every time you drove by her place. You never did.
Before you knew it, Christmas was almost here. And with Christmas, came the annual Romanoff Christmas Eve party.
You were giddy the whole day, excited to spend some time with your second family. Wanda watched on with an amused face as you practically bounced around your house in excitement.
The house was already full by the time you got there. Alexei opened the door, his face widening into a huge grin when he saw you. You didn’t even have any time for greetings before he was sweeping you into a big hug.
“(Y/N), it’s been too long.”
“Alexei, I’ve only been gone for a couple months.”
“A couple months too long,” he grumbles, finally taking a moment to take in your company. “And who is this lovely lady?”
You could feel Wanda shuffle nervously beside you. Slipping your hand into hers, you give her hand a reassuring squeeze. “This is my girlfriend, Wanda.”
He lets out a hum of approval, face full of some sort of mischievous glee. “Ah yes, the girlfriend. Natalia has told us so much.”
You raise an eyebrow at him, not entirely confident in whatever it was that Natasha has divulged to her family.
Alexei takes your silence as permission to continue speaking. “I’m glad to see that you make our little (Y/N) so happy. They’re like family, you know? All grown up now. Makes me think of the old days when they were still a wee child. Did you know that the two of them, (Y/N) and Natalia of course, used to get into all sorts of trouble together? Hmm I could still remember this one summer. I should have known something was off when they left with two shovels and a pail of rocks. Natalia came back alone, all dirtied up and--”
Eyes widening with recognition at the story, you quickly blurt out a distraction to cut him off. “Is that Melina I see? I’m going to go say hi, it was nice seeing you Alexei, bye!”
Speeding away, you pull a bewildered Wanda past Alexei into the house. When the two of you were a safe distance away, you finally release Wanda’s hand.
She chuckles, watching your winded state. “So that’s Nat’s dad?”
You nod, eyes still scanning the crowd to make sure the two of you were in no danger of being roped into talking about another embarrassing childhood memory.
“He seems lovely.” Wanda laughs at the look you give her. “Really, he seems like a blast.”
Snorting, you shake your head. “We have different definitions of the word ‘lovely’.”
Wanda rolls her eyes at you before looping her arm around yours. “You really need to tell me the shovel story now though. Can’t leave me wondering why Natasha returned without you.”
You narrow your eyes at her. “Nope, that story’s never going to see the light of day. Sorry.”
Just as she opens her mouth to send back a retort, you spot red hair off in the distance.
“Hey, you know what? I think I see Natasha. Let’s go join her.”
Wanda huffs at your obvious avoidance of the topic at hand, but follows you anyways as you make your way to the backyard.
“Hey Nat!”
Natasha grins when she spots the two of you. “Hey! How are you guys enjoying the party so far?”
Wanda lets out a small hum. “Met your dad. A real charmer.”
“Ugh, what did he do?”
“He tried to tell her the shovel story.”
Natasha visibly cringes at your words before shaking her head. “Yeah, nope, we’re not telling you that story.”
Wanda lets out a cry of protest but you sling an arm around her shoulder. “Don’t worry babe. We still love you anyways.”
She rolls her eyes at you again and you have to let go in order to avoid the jab she sends towards your side.
Playfully pouting, you nudge at Wanda. “I’m going to go get a drink. Do you want anything?”
At once she softens, eyes watching you with a loving glint. Wanda shakes her head but gives you a quick kiss on the cheek as a thanks.
Natasha exaggeratedly shudders at the action. “Hey now, where’s my offer?”
Already starting to walk away, you flip Natasha off over your shoulder. Her laughter follows you all the way back into the house.
You made it to the kitchen without running into any problems.
Reaching for the cupboard, you pull out two cups. Although Wanda had declined any beverages, you knew that the second you walked back out with your drink, Wanda would give you her best puppy eyes and ask for your cup. You’ve been to enough parties to know your girlfriend’s tricks.
The sound of the door opening has you instantly looking up. And then you freeze.
“You’re here.”
If you didn’t know any better you would’ve thought you heard a hint of relief in Yelena’s voice.
Shrugging, you give her your best look of nonchalance. “Of course I am.”
Yelena hums in response, body relaxing at the verbal confirmation. She fiddles with her fingers as you fill up the second cup in your hand. It wasn’t until you were about to walk away that Yelena spoke up again. “Who’s the girl?”
It wasn’t hard to figure out that she was talking about Wanda. Raising an eyebrow at the tension in her voice, you let out a snippy “What’s it to you?”
Dropping all pretenses, Yelena leans in closer to you, a frown etched on her face. “Are you dating her?”
“Why does it matter to you?”
“It doesn’t, I just want to know.”
You sigh, knowing there was really no point in drawing this conversation out. “Her name’s Wanda. And yes, we’re dating.”
If possible, Yelena’s frown deepens. “You could do better.”
“Excuse me?”
Letting out a huff, Yelena gestures wildly with her hands. “She seems like a nice girl and all, but really? She’s not the type of person I’d ever imagine you being with.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“She’s just… so… plain. Nothing really special about her.”
Placing the cups down with a bang, you poke your finger at Yelena. “Did someone piss in your drink or something?”
Taking a step back, Yelena puts up her hands. “I’m just saying--”
“You’re ‘just saying’ rude things about my girlfriend. And I’d appreciate it if you’d stop.”
Spinning around, you grab your cups before making a move to get past Yelena. She sidesteps to catch you, not letting you slip past.
Narrowing your eyes at the younger girl, you purse your lips in annoyance. “Really? Resorting to such childish ways to keep me here?”
“Well I wouldn’t have to try so hard to talk to you if you would just stop avoiding me.”
“I’m not avoiding you.”
“Oh so what I’m hearing is that your new girlfriend is zapping away all your time? Couldn’t even drop by to say hi?”
“Are you serious right now?” You scoff, shaking your head. “You know what, back the fuck off. I never asked for your opinion on my love life.”
“You don’t need to ask for my opinion. I’m your friend. I only want what’s best for you.”
“And what? Wanda’s not it? God, I’m not doing this with you. If you want to be upset with me for dating someone, go ahead. That’s not my problem.”
This time Yelena narrows her eyes at you. She crosses her arms in annoyance. “What, you get to be annoyed that I’m dating someone but I don’t get to when you do the same thing? Hypocritical much?”
It seemed like you weren’t the only one still thinking about the last time the two of you talked. Your next words come out with a bite. “Seeing that you’re still dating Kate, there’s really no reason for you to be upset with what I do.”
Yelena clenches her jaw and you could feel the anger radiating off from her. You’re fully expecting another sharp retort, but what comes out next surprises you. “I care about you. Okay? I care about you and I don’t want you to get hurt.”
The sudden softness in her tone catches you off guard and you blink. “I’m not going to get hurt, alright? If anything, the only person hurting me right now is you.”
A beat of silence passes and you could see the shame cross her face. “I’m sorry. I just…” Sighing heavily, Yelena uncrosses her arms. “I’ve missed you. A lot. And all this time spent apart, it just--”
“Lena! There you are. I was looking for you!” The sound of Kate’s voice has Yelena instantly pulling away from you.
“Oh, (Y/N), it’s nice to see you again. How’s college going?”
“It’s, uh, it’s good. Senior year treating you well?”
“Yep. Everything’s a breeze with Yelena by my side.” Kate pauses, taking a moment to plant a kiss against Yelena’s cheek. Yelena shuffles uncomfortably, eyes trying hard to catch your own, but you do your best to avert yours. “Speaking of which, do you mind if I steal her for a bit?”
You shake your head, giving them your best smile. “Of course not. I’ll talk with you guys later.”
Yelena shoots you a look, but you don’t have it in you to decipher it. Giving Yelena a small nod in goodbye, you push past the two of them to get through the door.
You take a deep breath.
This was fine. You were here with Wanda. You’re happy with your girlfriend. She gives you the world.
Somehow you find yourself back in the backyard. Natasha gives you a funny look but you ignore it. Wanda laughs at the extra cup in your hand before commenting on how long you took.
“I’m the new one here, yet you somehow got lost finding your way to the kitchen?”
Shaking your head, you let out a quiet apology.
“Everything okay?”
“Everything’s fine.”
You should be happy. Should be overjoyed with being wrapped tightly under the arms of your girlfriend.
Wanda drops her head against your shoulder, happily sighing at the contact.
You should be happy.
But as you catch a glimpse of blonde hair in the distance, you couldn’t help but wish you were anywhere else but here.
---
The rest of your first year of college passed without much fuss. When it was all said and done, you and Natasha quickly found yourselves an apartment near campus to live in. While you could’ve gone home for summer, the two of you agreed that it was nicer to be living on your own.
Usually the two of you would take turns cooking dinner, but tonight Natasha had been invited to go out with some friends from work. Sighing at the empty refrigerator, you quickly shut the door. It looked like it would be an instant ramen sort of day.
You had just turned on the TV when you heard the knock at the door. Holding in a groan, you quickly set your bowl down.
As you make your way to the door you try to think of who it could be. The only people who knew you lived here were your family and friends. But you knew that they would all at least text before coming by. Your confusion only grows when you remember that none of your friends were even in town right now. They had all either gone home to see family or left for vacation.
That didn’t leave many options left to consider. Maybe it was a neighbor dropping by to ask for some sugar?
Or maybe a serial killer?
What kind of serial killer knocks and informs their victims that they’re coming?
You couldn’t stop the curse from falling out of your mouth. Leave it to your mind to wind you up for no reason.
With one hand gripped tight on your phone, you timidly looked through the peephole.
What you saw had you quickly yanking open the door.
“Yelena?”
This was the first time you’ve seen her since the disaster that was winter break.
Although the invitation to come visit was always open, Yelena never took either of you up on it. Natasha had gone back multiple times to visit her family since, but you always stayed behind.
The first thing you thought was that Yelena looked beautiful. Her hair had grown out, what used to be shoulder length now swept down her back, and--
“Is Natasha here?”
Yelena’s voice pulls you out of your thoughts, and you frown when you notice how raspy and cracked it sounded. You take a second to take in her appearance again before replying, and you mentally curse yourself for not noticing the state the younger girl was in.
Her eyes were red, as if she had been crying just minutes before. That coupled up with her raspy voice and the sniffles you could hear her trying to mask had you instantly thinking the worst.
“Are you okay?”
She averts her eyes, quickly swiping her sleeve under her nose. “I’m fine. Is Nat here?”
You frown at her harsh tone, but you knew not to take it to heart. “No, she’s out with work friends.”
Yelena visibly deflates at your words. She gives you a curt nod, quickly taking a step back. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bother you. I’ll just go--”
“Yelena, come in.” She freezes when you reach out. Her eyes stay locked onto where the back of your hand makes contact with her arm, and you can see the gears turning fast in her head.
Something about the look on her face made her seem like a deer caught in headlights, so you apologize, quickly moving to pull your arm back. But before you could fully pull away, Yelena suddenly turns towards you again.
Your brows furrow in concern as the silence stretches on. Quiet was never a word that you would associate with the younger girl.
Something was obviously wrong.
You’re about to invite Yelena to come in again when you see her lower lip start to tremble.
And then Yelena’s launching herself into your arms and you’re stumbling under the weight of her body. Your knees nearly buckle with the added weight of the younger girl, but you quickly catch yourself, hand coming up to rub soothingly on her back as she starts sobbing away.
Heart breaking for the girl in your arms, you maneuver the two of you into the apartment and over to the couch.
Yelena clings on tight to you, tears soaking your shirt. You whisper quiet reassurances against her head, but she doesn’t seem to hear you, more content with the feel of your body against hers.
Wracking your mind for some way to calm the younger girl down, you instantly start humming when the idea hits you. You could feel Yelena starting to relax against your body, the sound of a childhood favorite song soothing her emotions.
Eventually Yelena’s tears die down and she pulls back, still close enough that your hands were touching, but far enough to give Yelena somewhat of a feeling of control.
You pretend not to see the embarrassment on the younger girl’s face. “What’s wrong?”
A beat of silence passes. And then you hear a quiet, “Kate and I broke up.”
“Oh, honey.”
Yelena shakes her head, angrily wiping at her tears. You could sense the embarrassment radiating through the younger girl in waves now.
“I don’t need your pity,” she spits out, suddenly pulling herself away from you. “You never liked Kate. You don’t have to fake any sympathy for me.”
Frowning, you move to rest a hand on her arm but think better of it, nervously curling it in your lap. “I can not like Kate and still care about you, Yelena.”
“You’re being a hypocrite again.”
“Yel--”
“No. You have a perfect relationship with a perfect girl. And now you’re telling me you care about me when everything’s falling apart?”
You ignore her words, not willing to get offended by words spoken from hurt. “You just got broken up with. I’m trying to console you. I’m always going to care.”
You put up a hand when she scoffs.
“I’m not going to pretend that I know what you’re going through. Heavens knows I’ve never dated anyone for as long as you and Kate were together. But I do know what it feels like to be broken up with.”
“Who in the world would ever break up with you?”
You tilt your head at her before sighing. Running a hand through your hair, you try to ignore Yelena’s gaze burning at your face. “Wanda broke up with me about a month ago.”
Yelena’s face instantly turns guilty and you wave her off when she opens her mouth to apologize.
“Don’t, it’s okay. We’re better off as friends than lovers anyways.”
You could still remember the day Wanda broke up with you. It had happened over spring break. Natasha had gone home for the week, but you had declined, not wanting to have the awkward encounter you knew would be awaiting you back at home.
You and Wanda spent most of the week watching sitcoms in the safety of your dorm room.
It had been a fun break. Every morning the two of you went out to a cafe that sold the best baked goods near campus. After filling up on your fair share of coffee and treats, the two of you would then choose extremely long routes back to your dorm, every day being a different route. Wanda claimed that it was for the purpose of soaking in the sunlight, as the two of you would then literally shut yourselves in your dorm room for the remainder of the day, but you knew that Wanda just enjoyed walking around and doing nothing with you all day. After making it back to your dorm, the two of you would huddle on your bed, binging a sitcom of Wanda’s choice, only taking short breaks when ordering takeout for lunch and dinner. Every night the two of you would fall asleep with the laptop still running.
Today Wanda had chosen to watch The Dick Van Dyke Show. She looked adorable mouthing along to the words as the actors talked, a product of her having watched the show so many times.
You initially found yourself watching Wanda more than the show. You loved every laugh the show elicited from her, every snort in amusement, every shine of joy in her eyes. The show just paled in comparison to your girlfriend.
But then as the episodes dragged on, you found your mind wandering to random topics until it finally settled on the blonde that you haven’t been able to get out of your brain since the last time you saw her.
Your stomach twisted with guilt when you started wondering what Yelena thought about your absence. The last two times you parted ways didn’t really end all that well. Would Yelena think you didn’t go back because you were avoiding her? Or that you were mad at her?
Or maybe she wasn’t even thinking about you at all.
You frown at the thought of Kate occupying all of Yelena’s thoughts. And the second you think about the brunette, you want to scream at yourself for even thinking about her in the first place. In all honesty, Kate seemed like a really nice girl. She was definitely a good match for Yelena. From the short interactions you had seen, the two of them seemed to complement the other.
The longer your brain thought about the people back at home, the larger the pang of homesickness hit you. But it wasn’t homesickness for your childhood home or your parents. It was homesickness for Yelena.
You missed her.
As much as you tried to stop thinking about the younger girl, there was still so much of you that loved her.
And then suddenly cuddling with Wanda made you feel too hot. Shame washed over you as you felt like the worst partner ever. What kind of person longs for another woman while they were with their girlfriend?
It wasn’t until Wanda nudged your shoulder did you realize that she had paused her laptop and was looking at you with inquisitive eyes.
“Okay, what’s going on?”
“Nothing.”
The look she gave you told you she didn’t believe you. Setting the laptop aside, Wanda turned towards you to give you her full attention.
You open your mouth, prepared to deny it again, but the second Wanda tilts her head at you, your voice dies in your throat.
“It’s Yelena, isn’t it?”
Wanda gave you a soft smile in response to the alarmed look on your face.
Her hand lands on your arm in an act of comfort. “It’s okay. Really.”
“I-- Wanda, I… I don’t--”
“You haven’t really been the same since we visited your friends over winter break.”
Your heart clenched painfully at Wanda’s words. You haven’t been acting differently since the trip. You haven’t. Right?
Wanda pressed a kiss against your cheek, pulling back with a sad smile. “This has been fun, but I think we both know your heart was never really into it.”
Your hand shoots out, grabbing her arm. This couldn’t be the end. Wanda meant too much to you for you to lose her. “No, Wanda, I--”
“It’s okay. I mean it.”
Your mouth goes dry as she steps away.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out.”
Your body goes numb as she picks up her laptop.
“But maybe it will for the two of you.”
And just as you feel it all coming to an end, Wanda’s next words breathe life back into you.
Pausing by the door, she gives you a smile. “I’ll still be expecting you to meet me for coffee again tomorrow though. It’s your fault I’m addicted to caffeine.”
Wanda didn’t break her word. Although it felt weird in the beginning, the two of you managed to remain close after the breakup. It didn’t take long for you guys to realize you really were better off as friends.
“All I’m saying is that it sucks to get broken up with.”
Silence befalls the room once again, and you see Yelena nervously fidget next to you.
When she stills, you tilt your head in question. The air in the room suddenly feels charged and you didn’t know if that was a good thing or not.
“So. You’re single.”
You nod, not sure you were liking the way this conversation was going.
“And I’m single.”
“Yelena.”
She ignores the warning in your voice, choosing instead to start scooting closer to you again.
Taking a deep breath in, you pointedly look at her hand when she drops it to rest against your arm.
She returns your look with a fake look of innocence.
And then she’s leaning in.
Yelena was a good kisser. You found yourself lost against her mouth for a moment before your brain kicked into gear.
Pushing softly against Yelena’s shoulders, you tried to get her to stop kissing you. But the longer she stayed pressed against you, the less you found yourself wanting to stop.
Against your better judgement, you relax into her embrace, letting Yelena pull you in closer.
Throwing a leg over your hips, she smoothly hops onto your lap, trapping you against the couch.
Soon Yelena starts wandering, pressing light kisses across your jaw before moving them down your neck. Your heart pounds erratically in your chest as she sucks light marks against your skin. You let out a light moan at a particularly hard suck.
You could feel her smirk against your neck at the sound. Your hands tighten around her hips as Yelena picks up her pace, hands starting their own journey against your body.
Taking a deep breath, you try to clear your mind. This was wrong. So wrong. Yelena came here crying about her break up. And now she was in your lap.
Holy shit. I’m making out with my best friend’s little sister.
With the alarms ringing in your head, it wasn’t that hard of a choice to grab Yelena’s wrist when she popped the button to your jeans.
Yelena detaches herself from your neck, slightly whining at the inability to continue on with her plans.
You shake your head at her. “I’m not going to take advantage of you like this.”
She moves to lean down to connect your lips again but you tilt your face out of the way. Yelena grumbles when her mouth hits your cheek instead. “(Y/N).”
“No.”
“I want this.”
“You don’t know what you want. You’re not thinking straight.”
“How can I when you’re so close to me?”
You shove at her shoulders and Yelena shakes with laughter.
“Okay, okay.” She puts her hands up in a motion of surrender and begrudgingly lets you slide her off her lap.
Your heart skips a beat when you take in her swollen lips, mussed hair, and slightly dilated pupils. You’re not sure if you looked much better.
Yelena frowns slightly when you make a move to get up. You offer her your hand. “It’s late. You should head to bed.”
You watch her eye your now cold bowl of ramen. “It can’t be that late if you haven’t had dinner yet.”
Waving her off, you pull at your connected hands. “You’ve had a long day. Come on.”
Rolling her eyes, she lets you pull you towards your bedroom.
After a difficult couple minutes, you finally get Yelena situated and all tucked in in your bed.
She grabs ahold of your shirt, stopping your movements. “Stay.”
“It’s not a good idea.”
“Please?”
You lean down, not missing the way Yelena’s eyes fluttered closed at the feel of your lips against her forehead. “Sleep. I’ll be in the living room if you need me.”
She grumbles, but lets go. When you get to the door you can’t help but stop and look at the blonde that was already dozing off in your bed. From here, she looked so sweet and innocent. There was nothing you wanted to do more than to run back to her side.
A sudden jolt of guilt shoots through you when a thought hits you. Natasha was going to kill you.
What were you going to tell her? ‘Hey, so your sister showed up distraught over her breakup with her long term girlfriend, but everything’s okay because we made out for quite some time. But don’t worry, we didn’t sleep with each other. So there’s that.’
Yeah, there was no way this was going to end well.
---
The couch wasn’t really a comfortable place to fall asleep, but it was definitely a better choice than sleeping next to Yelena. With how complicated everything was now, it was probably for the best to keep your distance.
You were just about to drift off to sleep when the jingling of keys at the door jolted you awake.
You look up just as Natasha enters, her green eyes widening in surprise when she spots you lounging on the couch.
“What are you doing out here?”
Tiredly rubbing at your eyes, you sit up. “Your sister’s in my bed.”
Natasha frowns, setting her things down. “Yelena’s here? Wait. Why is she in your bed?”
“She came here looking for you.”
A look of guilt overtakes Natasha’s face. You knew she was feeling bad for not being here for her sister, and you have to swallow hard to keep your own guilt from showing.
“What happened?”
“Her and Kate broke up.”
“What? I thought they were going strong.”
You shrug, not really wanting to talk about Yelena’s love life. You knew that there was only so much you could say without alerting Natasha that something was up. “I consoled her as much as I could, but I think the tears eventually got to her. She crashed hard and I moved her to my bed.”
Looking distracted, Natasha gives you a curt nod. You say nothing as she briefly disappears into your room to check on her sister.
You had just settled back under your blankets when Natasha returned, chuckling about Yelena being out like a light. You half-heartedly hum, already close to falling back asleep.
Natasha pauses by her door, turning back to give you a look. When she offers you her bed you decline, wishing her a good night. There was no reason for Natasha to try to refigure the sleeping arrangements when it was your decision to give up your bed for the night.
You fall asleep feeling the ghost of a kiss, thinking about eyes your favorite shade of green, and wishing for the nth time that this whole thing wasn’t as messy as it was.

heartbeat
pairing: natasha romanoff x reader, natasha romanoff x steve rogers (platonic)
warnings: cursing, mentions of torture, angst
summary: you’re kidnapped in order to torture and lure the black widow, but it becomes a trip down memory lane for the both of you.
a/n: sorry about my short hiatus, life has been a stressful place for us all as of late. i started this a while back, but i randomly got the inspiration to finish this early this morning. this is set in the time frame right before the winter soldier, when both steve and nat were working for S.H.I.E.L.D. enjoy!
The door to Natasha’s room was thrown off it’s hinges, revealing a disheveled Steve Rogers standing in the hallway. His eyes were bloodshot with defined bags underneath them, as if he hadn’t slept in days. Sweats hung low on his hips and his shirt was loosely splayed across the muscles of his upper body.
“Nat, come on. You’ve been at this for days. We’ll find her, but you need to sleep first. Tired eyes and terrible judgement will do you no good once we find her location,” Steve said as he flipped on the light switch. The red-haired woman winced at the sudden influx of light into her corneas.
Steve took this opportunity to look at her surroundings while she desperately attempted to find something to cover her eyes. The walls of her room were covered in pictures of you, all connected by pieces of red yarn and sticky notes. Every mob boss, every criminal, every high-level enemy the Avengers have ever fought (including Tony Stark) had their portrait and information stapled onto the wall above her bed. The furniture had been shifted and there was a shattered lamp in the corner of the room. Steve gawked at the mess that was unusual of Nat to create. However, he couldn’t be surprised, as you made her do things that Steve would never have thought she would do.
“I can’t, Steve,” she spoke softly, voice cracking as she looked up at the super soldier with teary eyes. “You know I can’t do that.”
“But you can,” Steve walked over to sit next to her on her unmade bed, carful to avoid the dirty clothes and hidden pieces of glass. “Look, you haven’t been getting anywhere. Maybe a pair of fresh eyes will help you discover something useful that would lead us straight to her.”
Natasha said nothing in reply. Her endeavor for something to cover her eyes led her to smother her head in a bed sheet, and her body gave into her exhaustion. Steve placed her entire body into her bed, tucking her in for the night. He rose from the bed, turning off the light and picking up the broken door, resting it on the doorframe.
“Miss Romanoff, Director Fury wished for me to inform you and Captain Rogers that we now have a location on Miss Y/L/N,” F.R.I.D.A.Y’s voiced blared through the overhead speakers. The morning drowsiness was wiped from her system as soon as she heard those words. She rushed from her place in bed to get her suit, almost throwing onto her body while she awkwardly hopped down the hallway.
The Quinjet ride was longer than usual, even though they were flying halfway across the world. Somewhere in Southern Europe, Nat thought she remembered hearing Fury say. She wasn’t listening during the briefing, her mind consumed with the thought of getting you back. You hadn’t been gone for very long, just under two weeks, in fact. But Natasha was a mess without you. You were the only stability in her life. You were her light. You were the only positive thing her life had ever seen. So when you went missing, her mind crumbled. Natasha was so obsessed with getting you back, that she no longer took care of herself. As far as she was concerned, you were probably being beaten and tortured to get to her, so she shouldn’t waste any time on things that took time away from finding you.
Finally, the plane touched down on the snowy ground. The door unfolded, the frigid air flooding the Natasha’s senses. Steve placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Nat, you okay?” he asked of her. She nodded timidly, just barely hearing his question.
The cold didn’t affect the two agents, as Tony had a heater sewn into all of their suits to prevent them from dying. Their trek through the snow lasted for what seemed even longer. Every thought that dragged through Natasha’s head revolved around you. Except for one. She thought of what she was going to do to the person that took you. Natasha would use every ounce of her training to ensure that whoever had you was going to die a slow, agonizing death. She would make them suffer until death seems like the best possible option. Lost in her head once again, she didn’t realize that she had arrived at the base. Natasha would’ve ran straight into a wall had Steve not taken her by the shoulders and forcefully moved her in front of the gateway. It was a normal-looking, abandoned military base, mainly comprised of bricks and steel beams. With a nod of agreement, the two pulled out their weapons and stealthily marched up the steps and into the base, determined to bring you back home.
Not long after forcing the heavy door ajar, Natasha found the base completely empty. Every corridor, room, hallway, and staircase was barren and left devoid of evidence that anyone had been there recently. A particular room caught their attention more than the others: the library. Still remaining on high alert, she began to flip through the pages of the open notebooks that sat on the wooden desk in the center of the room. The walls were lined with bookshelves, most tall enough to require a ladder to reach the top levels.
“Hey, Nat,” Steve whispered from the elaborate doorway, “Come here. I think I found something.”
Natasha placed her hands on her gun once again, raising it to eye level as she moved towards Steve. The super soldier pointed down a dark, narrow corridor with a gesture of his head.
“Can you hear that, Nat?” Steve said, lowly. She closed her eyes, trying to listen out for footsteps or any other sign of the enemy approaching. For a split second, the assassin could’ve sworn that she’d heard classical music playing deep down the hallway. The kind of classical music that the Red Room would slowly train the girls to hate as their bodies crumbled to the floor in exhaustion.
The farther Nat and Steve travelled down the hallway, the more prominent the music became. In just a few seconds, the faint music filled Natasha’s ears. A loose brick in the wall caught her eye. Steve held his shield out in front of her as she felt around the wall, finally pushing the brick into the wall. The sound of Nat’s quick-paced heartbeats echoed off of the walls, possibly the only sign that gave away their position. She released her hand outstretched hand from the wall. At this point, the Black Widow was desperate for any trace of you or your presence.
The wall slid to the side, making the entire room tremble around them. Steep stairs heading down into a basement now laid in front of the two agents in place of the large wall. She descended down the staircase without a second thought, foregoing all of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s protocols and all of her training. When it came to you, fuck protocols. The red-haired woman no longer held her gun and completely ignored Steve’s silent warning signals. She didn’t care. All she had to do was get to you and get you home safe. Only then would she be okay.
As soon as the tip of her boot touched the base of the last stair, bright lights cut on. In the exact center of the room was a table and a chair setup in a classic forceful interrogation manner. Little blood splatters covered the entire concrete floor. A two-way mirror had been installed into the wall to the left of where they had entered the room, but they had no time to peer into the tinted glass.
“Nice of you to join me, Miss Romanoff and Mister Rogers,” a stout man revealed himself from behind another door in the room. He couldn’t have been much over five feet, complete with a thin bone structure and sparse, scraggly hair. A set of oval-rimmed glasses sat on the bridge of his wrinkled nose and a white lab coat seemed to smother his skinny frame. He struggled to stand upright, and instead leaned on his right leg more often than the left. Overall, a classic bad-guy-mad-scientist look.
“Where is Y/N?” Steve’s deep voice boomed in response to the feeble man. Natasha’s throat went dry. She had allowed a man like this to take Y/N. Her Y/N. She was supposed to be the greatest and most efficient killer in the world, but she couldn’t even protect you. Tears began to prick her eyes at the thought, but Natasha knew she could not let them fall. Not in front of a man that was going to be dead as soon as she found you.
“And I suppose you would also like the answer to that question?” the old man inquired sarcastically. He continued his statement after being met with a glare in response to his question, “I had her brought her so I could have a little chit-chat with at least some of the Avengers.”
“What would you like to speak about?” Natasha spat, “Because I can guarantee you that you have exactly 15 seconds to live after you tell me where you put my girlfriend.”
“Is that a threat, Miss Romanoff?” the man smiled knowingly, eyebrow cocked in a manner that could only be executed by the most evil of evil.
“A promise,” she replied, crossing her arms while keeping a gun in her hand.
“Anyways,” he clears his throat, but that only leads him into a major coughing fit that leaves him wheezing, “I suspect that you also want to know why I took her.”
Natasha took a handful of his lab coat and brought his entire body extremely close to her face, ensuring he could hear her say, “Tell us the location of the damn girl before you’re struggling to breath for a different reason.”
Psychotic laughter fell from the lips of the estranged scientist, a chuckle only a madman could even think of doing. Natasha then looked into his eyes for the first time, only seeing the insanity within his green orbs. A permanent grin was painted across his face as he gestured towards the two way mirror.
“Why, Miss Romanoff, she’s just in that other room,” he said maniacally. As if it was connected to it’s words, the mirror cleared, revealing a simple ballet studio. On cue, the music became much more climactic and dramatic as he continued his words, “She seems to love dancing. She even panics when I turn certain compositions on. It’s adorable.”
A leotard-clad woman comes spinning into view, body bent and elongated in ways only a Red Room trainee could achieve. Natasha panicked, feeling her catsuit get incredibly tight when she saw your strained face. She finally has sight of you, but only in pain. Weeks and weeks of no sleep brought her here in the same room as you captor, but not you.
Natasha dropped the scientist and jolted forward, fists pounding on the tinted glass, “Let her out, you bastard! Let her out!”
“If you can get her out, you can have her. But I believe I should be taking my leave,” he confessed before he began foaming at the mouth. His eyes glossed over before his body hit the ground with a quiet thud. Steve rushed over to feel for some kind of pulse, but the dead guy was the last thing on Natasha’s mind.
In half an hour, Natasha had tried everything. She ignored the dastardly memories of her training just so she could get to you. You continued to dance, terrified of the guns that were aimed directly at your heart. Nat continued to attempt to pry at the edges of the mirror, hoping that it would amount to something.
“No bombs, triggers, anything on the premises,” Steve announced as he waltzed back into the room and laid his shield on the table, “Everything dangerous is in that studio.”
“Well, big guy, I’m going to need you to punch this glass really hard because that’s my girlfriend in there and I can’t get to her.”
Steve nodded and lined himself with the glass. His fist connected with the glass: nothing. The captain pulled his fist back once again, with the same end result. On the third try, his fist connected with the glass and it shattered on impact. Natasha jumped through it and dragged you back into the room. Your exhausted body slumped into her arms, little whines coming from your mouth as Natasha guided you to the floor. She knew you’d never cry in front of anyone, but she didn’t need tears to know that you were struggling. It broke her heart to see you so broken. The assassin wrapped her toned arms around your body, and smiled as she teared up herself.
“Shh, shh,” she whispered into your hair, “You’re okay now.”
What she didn’t notice was the foam dripping from your mouth onto her suit.

Natasha: Extremely grateful for a lot today... but extra grateful that my son Peter finally lost his whistle. Peace has been restored in my home.
Y/N: I hid it when he wasn’t looking.
Natasha: I’m so happy I married you.

Natasha: It’s kind of chilly today.
Carol: It’s not that cold. You’re just wearing a cropped shirt in the middle of winter.
Natasha: But I’m also wearing a scarf, so they should cancel each other out.
Y/N: ... you’re supposed to be the smart one.
