i love that being evil and gay and stupidly obsessive about your kryptonian arch-nemesis just runs in the family. she literally followed kara across TWO different cities after they graduated college and thus far her big evil plans have mostly been “manipulate supergirl into revealing her secret identity” which has had a roughly 0% success rate.
she has the vibes of like… the mean girl in a kids show who is still inexplicably friends with the other kids. she wants so badly to be a supervillain and unironically thinks lex is THE coolest person she knows. most of her villainy just involves stalking kara and trying to get pictures of her changing into her costume. she is the most fashionable person on panel at any given moment but also she is a massive loser.
i love her. i’m obsessed with her. i need her to be brought back into modern continuity.
#nasthalthia luthor#dc comics#very iconic of kara to get TWO luthors in her books#though nasty and lena never appear together as far as i know

who’s nasty luther. Ims o confused
nasty luthor (full name nasthalthia luthor, nasty for short) is lex luthor's niece who is also evil :) she mainly appeared in pre crisis continuity where she'd try and uncover kara's identity as supergirl and just like. generally annoy her. she had one other more recent appearance in all-star superman where she got a fun goth redesign. she was fun and i miss her dearly <3
adventure comics #411 || all star superman #11
#ask#i think she also appeared in a dc/scooby doo comic... but idk about all that#miss her </3#nasty luthor

I had totally forgotten that Silver/Bronze Age Lex Luthor had a niece named Nasthalthia. Grant Morrison didn’t though and he brought her back in All Star Superman. Until recently I thought she was a new character he invented but then I remembered she was a foe of Supergirl in the 70s.

It really bugs me that Lena Luthor in Supergirl seems far closer to Nasty Luthor in appearance and personality than the kindhearted Lena of the comics.

DC should hire me to do a WFA style webtoon about the luthor family where i just get to cherry-pick from whatever canons i like to create my own family sitcom cast. it’ll be like, half smallville and half whatever the hell interests me at the time. i’m recanonizing nasthalthia luthor but now she’s lucas-from-smallville’s daughter. i’m using the arrowverse characterization for lena. kon and bizarro are both there. mercy is having an office romance with miss teschmacher in the background. maybe lionel is there as a ghost or something idk (i’ll workshop it).

It’s funny. The comics found this contrived way of giving Kara this typical mean girl/bully enemy, in the form of Nasthalthia Luthor, Lex’s niece. Her nickname was actually “Nasty”. Which tells you all you need to know about her.
They obviously couldn’t make her Lena’s daughter, so they made up that she was the daughter of some older sister of Lex’s, who was never actually seen. She basically worked at the same news station as Kara/Linda, while trying to expose her identity as Supergirl. And also being a total bitch to her. Even going so far as to getting one of her informants killed.
I think what we basically got with lobotomizer was both characters (Lena & Nasty) put together. Problem is the writers could never decide which version they wanted to stick with the character.
She should have stayed for the 3 eps, that's it. After that writers had probably a plan for her becoming Kara's enemy but of course had to changed it to please the bullies, because you can please bullies, right
And in the end we got this bland lukewarm pice of crap. Yay
