My thoughts on the Naruto ending pt. 2

So I wanted to add something regarding my thoughts on the Naruto ending (if you have not read that post, I suggest you do so you can understand this one better).

On one of my posts regarding NH and Neji's death @calculosavulsos pointed out something that I had missed out.

I had dismissed Neji's death as simply an act of pettiness from Kishimoto, y'know, killing the beloved more developed and compelling Hyuga as payback for being forced to make NH a thing. But after reading calculosavulsos comment, it made me realize that the theme of conformism in the ending might have been established several chapters prior to the actual final chapters 699-700.

Although Neji and Hinata had both been introduced several chapters before their duel at the chuunin exams, it is until this fight that we're revealed information on the Hyuga clan and the philosophy that rules it and the values they live by.

For genin Neji, fate is unchangeable. Every single person has their destiny established from birth and it is no use to try to challenge it. This pisses off Naruto, a ninja that defies everyone's expectations and who goes through life challenging the status quo and urging others to do the same. Naruto then, swears to win to prove Neji that a person can, in fact, defy their destiny.

The reason why Neji believes people's destiny is assigned at birth is due to the segregation in the Hyuga clan, some members are born into the main branch and some are born into the cadet branch, members from the main branch enslave and torture members from the cadet branch who must serve them and protect them with their lives. Neji's own father suffered this fate, cementing this idea on Neji that's what he will live to do as well.

Naruto, on the other hand, believes the opposite. He believes he is the master of his own destiny and is capable of changing whatever the status quo might be, clashing directly with Neji's ideals. Naruto believes that those who are passive and let life come at them instead of facing it are cowards.

It's during their fight that Neji reveals to Naruto why he feels he can't escape fate and Naruto responds that he's actually been fighting off his fate, calling him a hypocrite.

After an intense physical fight Naruto swears he will change the Hyuga clan even if he still doesn't truly grasp the full depth of the issue, meaning he plans to abolish the division between the cadet branch and the main branch that other Hokages had enabled until then.

What I love about this fight, and this panel in particular is that Neji is using his Ultimate Defense: The Zero Blind Spot which is supposed to protect him of any force that comes at him to attack him, a technique he coined himself, whereas Naruto is using the massive force of the Kyuubi chakra in a direct attack to Neji's defense. It's basically an unstoppable force clashing against an unmovable object. Once again, Kishimoto is communicating through the visual language of his work, the ideals and feelings the characters are seeking to evoke. Basically, the way both boys are fighting is a physical representation of Naruto's defiance and Neji's resignation.

Naruto is a series where we see a constant defiance of the status quo, society's apathy and the cover up of crimes against the marginalized.

But as I explained in my thoughts about the ending post, thematically the Naruto finale is about conformism. I had personally traced this conformism to the special chapter of Naruto's nameday as Hokage, but after reading Calculosavulsos' comment, I realized the conformism theme can be traced to as far back as Neji's death in the manga.

In several interviews Kishimoto talks about how he chose to make NH canon right in around the middle of the series, possibly after Hinata's popularity skyrocketed due to Studio Pierrot's added filler scenes for her fight against Pain. In a particular interview Kishimoto stated clear and plainly that the reason why he killed off Neji is because he needed to come up with a scenario to bring Naruto and Hinata close, he went as far as to calling Neji cupid. For me, as I stated at the beginning, this reeked of pettiness and I left it at that, not looking deeper to see if there was another layer to Neji's death, but turns out there is.

Neji, just like his father, Hizashi, ends up sacrificing his life for a member of the main branch of the clan. Hizashi ended up dying in Hiashi's place who was supposed to die to avoid dragging Konoha into a war with the Land of the Clouds. Neji ended up dying in Hinata's place who was supposed to die to avoid Naruto's death and the ultimate defeat of the Shinobi alliance at the hands of Obito and Madara.

Unsurprisingly, Naruto's guilt-tripping into returning Hinata's feelings begins here as well. Neji uses his last breath while bleeding to death to serve, as Kishimoto called him, as a cupid for Naruto and Hinata. Also notice how Neji never drops the honorifics towards Hinata even though he is the older one of the two and Hiashi had said the Cadet and Main branch were fighting as one (implying the segregation had been abolished)

Neji and Naruto were supposed to change the clan Hyuga, as Naruto had promised Neji years prior and as he states again to Neji who's slowly dying on his arms "you were gonna change clan Hyuga", meaning Neji was supposed to fight back against his destiny of a lifelong slave that would die to protect his enslaver and yet Neji was ultimately the first character of the series to conform.

Neji's death is direct parallel of his father death, to the point his final thoughts mention him understanding how he was only able to achive freedom, at long last, through death.

Neji, like every other Hyuga from the cadet branch, was only able to attain freedom through death. Naruto would never change the clan Hyuga as he promised either. Kishimoto is establishing the theme of conformity that's the focal point in the finale, right here.

If Kishimoto hadn't been forced to make NH a thing, maybe Hinata is the one that would've died to protect Neji instead, reverting the roles of their parents, or maybe Kishimoto simply would have not felt the need to come up with a scenario like the one he did. But it's clear that Naruto and Hinata ending up together represents the apathy, resignation, defeat and compliance we see in Naruto and Sasuke's adult characters.

It's time.

Long overdue, if he's being honest.

It's high time Naruto finds himself a mate.

The urge has been gnawing at him for many moons now, growing stronger and stronger with each passing day. He's thirty now, at the peak of his strength and power, and his entire being screams for him to find his omega, to claim what's rightfully his.

Yet, to his utter dismay, he hasn't found her.

And that, in itself, is a problem.

The others in the pack—those mangy pups—had no trouble finding their mates. They leapt at the first chance, falling all over themselves to bond and settle down.

But him?

He's not like them.

You see, Naruto wasn't just any wolf. He wasn't another howling fiend in the night or just another body hogging up space in the den.

He was an alpha—the alpha.

And being the alpha meant he didn't rush into things or settle for just anything. After all, mating among werewolves is a special event, far beyond mere pleasure.

Mating is a profound connection, where two souls merge into one, bodies become tied together.

When the time comes, and Naruto mates and decides to knot with his chosen one, his power, his strength, his very essence will flow into her, altering her fundamentally—making her stronger, faster, and even bolder.

She would become a new wolf.

His mate—his omega.

Likewise, she would impart her qualities to him during the mating process—her grace, her patience, her serenity.

This deep, transformative bond demands a mate worthy of accepting his gifts and matching his power. So finding such a mate isn't something he takes lightly. He needs to be certain about his decision, his instincts, and the timing.

But his pack doesn't understand that.

He knows what they whisper behind his back.

He knows their thoughts about him—the older wolves anyway.

He can feel their eyes on him all the time—the raised eyebrows, the hushed whispers questioning why he, of all wolves, has yet secured a mate.

"Why hasn't alpha-sama found his mate yet?"

"What's taking him so long?"

"Is something wrong with him?"

Their whispers always sound like the buzz of mosquitoes—persistent and irritating. They wouldn't dare say such things to his face, but that really doesn't matter—Naruto already knows what they speak.

And frankly, he couldn't care less.

They don't understand—can't understand—that for him, finding a mate isn't just about fulfilling a need or securing the pack's future. It's about finding someone who meets his standards, who is as extraordinary as he is.

He was different.

He was not like the others.

He isn't going to settle for just any omega.

No, he wants the best—needs the best.

He wants an omega who's more than just a pretty face, more than just a warm body to share his den.

He needs someone who can match him in strength, wit, and everything else. Someone who can keep pace with him, challenge him, stand by his side, share his burdens, and help strengthen the pack.

Someone who can push him to be better.

That's the kind of mate he needs, no, deserves.

It wasn't that the females in his pack weren't strong or beautiful. Many of them possessed a raw power that would make any lesser male wolf howl in admiration or had a beauty that could make a wolf drool and eager to knot up.

But to Naruto, they were all the same—predictable, familiar, and utterly beneath his standards. The thought of just settling down with one of those females made him scoff.

Finding a mate among them was like searching for a diamond in a pile of rocks—some might glimmer a bit brighter than others, but they were still just...rocks. Dull and not worthy of being his mate, a waste of his time.

So, he'll wait.

He'll wait as long as it takes to find the one who's truly worth it—the perfect mate he's been looking for. It didn't matter how long the search would last.

He didn't care what the others had to say, didn't care that their whispers grew louder with every moon that passed.

Let them wonder.

Let them gossip.

Because when he finally did find her, when he finally claimed his omega, they would all see. They would understand that the wait had been worth it, that an alpha like him didn't settle for anything less than perfection.

Until then, he would keep searching, his senses on high alert, his instincts sharp.

Because somewhere out there, his omega was waiting. And when he finds her, she would be more than just adequate...

She would be everything.

hinata week 2024 day 1 - sunflower & naruhina month 2024 day 23 - royalty au

There were a lot of things Hyuga Hinata liked about living in Konoha—the location, the scenery, the people (I guess..?)— but if you were to ask her about her favourite thing, Hinata would probably have to say it was this sunflower field.

(Or, well, realistically, she probably wouldn’t say it… you know, for exclusivity’s sake and everything. Like, nothing personal or anything, but it was kind of her place, you know?)

(I digress.)

And for many reasons! I mean, she liked the flowers, first and foremost, with their long stalks and their bright yellow petals, but she also liked the serenity of it. She liked how big it was, and how easy it was to get lost in it. She liked the sound of the snow crunching under her feet as she walked, not yet heavy enough to wilt away her flowers, but enough to form a glittery blanket on the ground—that was something else she liked, by the way. The stark contrast between the delicate, pure-white snow and the exuberant, warm yellow of the sunflowers. It meshed quite well together, she thought.

She took another slow step into the field, savouring it. She didn’t get to do this often.

…And by that she meant ‘never’, because she was nary allowed out of the house without one of her Royal Guard, and she definitely wouldn’t be allowed to go out this late at night, lest she get… assassinated or something.

(She would say that this is statistically improbable, all things considered, but then again, her getting kidnapped on her third birthday was also ‘statistically improbable’, so really, who’s to say?)

She crouched down and took hold of a baby sunflower, a little thing that was barely a bud. Ugh. Whatever. She wasn’t here to lament over her father and his weird choices.

Hinata liked other things about this field, too, for example how far away from the castle it was. She liked the detours she had to take to reach it, and how inconspicuous it was, despite its vastness. Hidden in plain sight, as most of the good things in life were.

And perhaps most importantly, she liked that, in this sunflower field, she could be Hinata. Not Hyūga Hinata, and definitely not Princess Hinata— just Hinata. 

She didn’t have to perform for anyone. Didn’t have to put on that show of propriety and perfect etiquette.

She liked how, in this sunflower field, she could ignore her royal duties, if only for a little bit. She didn’t have to think about how little control she had over her own life, and the illusion of power that her position afforded her.

And how Father is probably finalising the proceedings of my arranged marriage as I stand here.

She rid herself of the thought. Tomorrow’s mess was tomorrow’s Hinata’s to deal with. Inhaling, she brushed the light dusting of snow off a particularly large sunflower.

She felt like she could… breathe here, you know?

She could just exist there, alone—

Something rustled around her.

Hinata jumped and instinctively pulled out a dagger from between her skirts. That tell-tale pitter-patter fluttered in her chest—not the good kind—and despite knowing she could handle herself, that she was trained for moments like these, she felt that instinctive panic start to seep into her pores. Despite, rationally, knowing her capability, she felt its familiar bitterness at the base of her throat.

“Mind if I join you?”

Five words, spoken so quietly, if not hesitantly, she almost didn’t hear them. 

Well, she thought, now immediately on guard, there goes my alone-ness. “Show yourself,” she said despite not needing to—her Byakugan was already activated, and she’d already detected a male presence in the vicinity. But fuck if she weren’t cursing herself for not arming herself better before going out.

Still, she braced herself, settling into that ever-so-familiar stance she’d spent so long perfecting. It was no secret that the secrets of the Hyūga were sought after, and many people would go (and have gone) to extreme lengths to acquire them. Everyone knew that, and it was precisely why her father, despite disinheriting her and stripping her of her position as Crown Princess years ago, insisted that she be trained to perfect the Gentle Fist.

And she did perfect it. The scars and bruises and countless sleepless nights spent in the Hyūga training rooms could attest to that.

So why was she still scared? Why was her first response to doubt herself and her abilities?

I thought I was over this, she thought, bitter despite herself. I thought I'd outgrown this. Unlearned it. Rejected Father’s perception of me—

She took a calculated step forward, instinctively maximising the accuracy of her Byakugan. If there was one thing she got out of the brutal training with her father and her cousin, it was her grasp on the Byakugan, at least. She’d learned how to maximise its range by the kilometres, but she could also effortlessly switch between modes of accuracy she didn’t even know existed.

She tightened her hold on her knife. So why? 

“Hey, hey, hey,” the figure finally stepped out from the shadows, hands thrown up in the universal gesture for surrender. “My bad.” Whoever he was, he seemed apologetic, if his twisted facial expression was anything to go by. Her body relaxed infinitesimally, but she didn’t let her guard down completely. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”

He was also being… awfully casual with her.

Does he not know who I am?

(Hinata belatedly recognised how self-absorbed that thought sounded, and she cringed inwardly.)

It was a guy, bundled up in a jacket and a striped green scarf. She blinked when he stepped into the moonlight, and she was briefly arrested, all thoughts of danger be damned.

He must’ve had the clearest blue eyes she’d ever seen.

Wait, what? she thought, genuinely alarmed, because why on Earth was that her first takeaway from this interaction?! If her older cousin were privy to that thought, he’d probably say she was losing her edge.

“Ah,” she muttered, reorienting herself and looking away, “it’s no trouble.” She took a gamble and deactivated her Byakugan, no longer deeming it necessary. She wasn’t sensing anything particularly threatening from this guy.

In fact, his presence was weirdly… warm? If that were even possible?

(Yeah, Hinata cringed at that thought, too. Because what the hell.)

“You sure?” he pressed, raking a hand through his unruly blond hair. “You can tell me to leave, y’know, I wouldn’t take it personally or anything—”

God, this guy really didn’t know who she was. Maybe? Probably? Hopefully?

An unprompted giggle tumbled out of her lips, surprising them both. He had only been standing there for what had to have been a minute or two, but his presence was already more tolerable than most people’s. And I mean, to be fair, the messy blond hair and the slight frostnipped-ness of his cheekbones were not exactly inspiring danger.

“Really,” she insisted and waved off his concern, her voice lighter, “I don’t mind the company.” Brushing off her skirts and discreetly tucking her knife back in, she threw him a tentative glance and continued, “Besides, you look like you could use a distraction.” By God, where was all this brazenness coming from? ‘You look like you could use a distraction’? Really?  She groaned inwardly. Alright, Nancy Drew, wrap it up. 

Before she could scramble to take it back, his face, which was now unobscured by means of his worn-out scarf slipping, broke into a lopsided grin, and he huffed a laugh, “That I do.”

They lapsed into a short silence, where she watched him fumble around to wind his scarf back around his neck. “So,” he said, still not looking at her as he casually fixed his scarf, “are you from around here?”

She blinked, deliberating over her answer.

She opened her mouth, then closed it.

Then, finally—

“I am.” She busied herself with cupping another sunflower and running her fingers through the petals, watching the tiny snowflakes melt from the heat of her hands. “Are you?”

He didn’t pause nearly as long as she did. “Nah,” —she could tell he was grinning as he said it— “I’m here on.. a business thing. Wanted to have one last night of freedom before—” he paused, throwing her a mildly-panicked-but-trying-to-play-it-off kind of look. “Ah. Don’t worry about it, y’know!” He leaned in, as if suddenly entranced by the sunflower in her hands.

“You must like sunflowers a lot, huh?” he asked, still not looking at her. Clearly, he was trying to change the subject.

She awarded him that grace. “Yes,” she replied, almost wistfully. “They’re my favourite.”

“Mhmm,” he hummed and reached forward to cup the flower. His warm hand curled pleasantly against Hinata’s, but he didn’t seem to notice, still studying the flower intently. Only now, he seemed actually interested. “So do the sunflowers wilt in the winter, or—”

Stay calm, Hinata, she instructed herself. Cute stranger is holding your hand— so what?

She couldn’t help it. She made a tiny, whimpery, shocked noise.

“Shit!” He snatched his hand away. “I didn’t mean to—”

Well, there went the cute stranger holding her hand.

“No, no!” she rushed to say, no doubt doing that full-face Hyūga blush. “You didn’t—”

“—I wasn’t trying to make a move or anything—”

“—It’s all good I promise! You really didn’t—”

Their words died out, and the two of them stared at each other for a second… before, inanely, bursting into laughter.

It was weird.

She’d been hanging out with this stranger for what must’ve been hours now, and yet that nagging discomfort never really settled in. She wasn’t overthinking what to say—in fact she was barely thinking at all, which honestly kind of worried her, but whatever—and she didn’t even feel that mild panic you got the second you felt like you shared too much.

Their silences weren’t awkward. She didn’t have to worry about propriety or etiquette. She wasn’t Princess Hinata, or even Hyūga Hinata.

She was just Hinata.

He laughed at something else she said, that stomach-clutching laughter that made his face crinkle, and she had to stop herself from thinking about how pretty he was. 

“Damn,” he said on a sigh as his laughter died out. “You’re pretty funny, y’know?”

Hinata had taken him to her second favourite spot in Konoha; a little clearing that was hidden away behind the sunflower field. He’d invited her to lay down next to him, clearly unfamiliar with the Royal Code of Conduct, and she’d complied without much thought, smoothing her skirts and laying down in the misty grass.

She could let herself be a teenager for one night, god damnit. She wasn’t going to think of her father tonight.

“I mean… I wouldn’t go that far,” she teased, watching the sky turn a paler blue as the sun started to rise. “But thank you. I think you’re… funny, as well.”

He nudged her with his arm, his voice equally as teasing. “You hesitated.”

She giggled, feeling her face go warm again. “That’s not what I—”

Wait… Hinata sat up, alarmed. The sun?!

To his credit, her friend (?) sat up as well, all thoughts of the previous conversation forgotten. “Is everything okay?” he asked hurriedly, his eyes running over her. “Did you get bitten or something—?”

“The sun is out,” she breathed. “God, Father is going to have my head! I need to get back.”

To his credit once again, he didn't panic. “Alright,” he said resolutely, standing up, “let me walk you home.”

“No!” She flinched at her volume, but he just nodded, taking it in stride. “Sorry! I didn't mean to yell,” she spluttered breathlessly, “it’s not—”

“Hey,” he interrupted, leaning down to match her height. “It’s fine. You don’t need to explain.” He scratched the back of his head and shrugged. “I mean, the whole ‘Father is gonna have my head’ thing is pretty self-explanatory, anyway.”

They stood there for a moment, silent again, before he spurred into action once more. “Here,” he said, picking up her scarf. “Will I… see you around?” he asked, uncharacteristically bashful, when he handed her the scarf.

A small smile tugged on her lips. “I have a feeling you will.”

It was later when, as he watched her form get smaller and more farther away, he realised that he never got her name.

“You’re up early,” a sardonic voice intoned from above her, in lieu of a greeting.

It was her older cousin. Lovely.

Sighing, she glanced up at him. He was perched on the ledge above her balcony, already dressed in his formal attire. “Good morning, Nii-san,” she said pleasantly. She wasn’t worried about him tattling or anything, he wasn’t a child, but she knew he’d ask questions. Part of the older brother package and everything. So she deflected. “That makes two of us, then.”

He furrowed his brows. “I’m always up early.”

“Last night,” she supplied, and she watched his lips purse.

“Touché, Princess,” he sighed, and she thought she saw the tips of his ears get red, but that may have just been the light.

“Say hi to Tenten-san for me, will you?”

“Go inside, Hinata.”

god now i cant stop thinking about sasuke watching the nh wedding, heartbroken, and leaving the same night without telling anyone a word. and naruto feeling equally heartbroken and not knowing why when its supposed to be the happiest day of his life. and in the weeks after he just struggles harder and harder to keep the facade up and no one fucking understands him since they pushed him into this marriage and months go by and then sasuke visits because he cant help himself and they meet and sasuke becomes a homewrecker and naruto leaves his pregnant wife behind and disappears with sasuke never to return and sobvosbvoisbiosbio you know?

I only noticed this on NightOwl's story but I do wonder if you ever made a Naruhina recs centering around stories where it's narrated on Naruto's Perspective?

Now, now don't look at me like that okay? I do love when the story is in Hinata's perspective most of the time but reading fics where Naruto's the one feeling it and seeing the story unfold is a one of a kind thing and I know there's only a few stories or fics you will think of about this one. But I do hope you can find some fics though, I'm kind of craving for such fics these days.

I think you're referring to

People always try to polyamory their way out of nrt relationship drama and I'm sorry but none of them are built for that. "naruhina and sasusaku should live in a big house and raise their children together :)" alright let's watch sasuke and hinata try to share naruto and see what happens actually I'll tell you what will happen within a week they'll make neji's beatdown from the chunin exams look sweet. Sakura may be a fujoshi but she likes that shit when it's fictional she will beat the brakes off naruto if he's getting a smidge more attention. himawari and sarada and that ugly blond kid scarred for life now. Upcoming HinaxPairing Fanfics

I've been working on a few Hinata x Male Pairing stories (HinaSasu, KakaHina, ShikaHina, etc.) on and off. I wanted to share previews of the stories I’ve been working on. I don’t have a set date for when they’ll be posted, as I’d rather complete each story before posting or at least complete it halfway. That way, I can update daily instead of sporadically...no waiting days (or weeks 😅) between updates.

None of these stories have titles yet, so I’ll list the theme, pairing(s), and how many chapters I’ve completed so far. Progress is being made, but some have more written than others! I won’t give away too many details, but the themes and brief summaries should give you an idea of what to expect.

1. PR Relationship Story

Pairings: SasuHina (main), SasuSaku (minor, some one-sided aspects due to the PR relationship...don’t hate me! 😭 I promise you I'm not a fan of this couple, but I will write it if it's needed as a barrier for SasuHina), GaaHina

Brief Summary: Sasuke is a model who’s been in a relationship with Hinata (his childhood friend) for three years. He’s placed in a PR relationship with Sakura, a rising pop star, which causes a rift between him and Hinata.

Chapters Completed: 4/20

2. Mafia Story

Pairings: KakaHina (initially the main), SasuHina (arranged marriage), ShikaHina (one-sided)

Brief Summary: Hinata has been secretly involved with her father’s bodyguard, Kakashi, for the past year. However, their relationship is put at risk when an arranged marriage with the Uchiha clan is announced to secure an alliance. (This story was initially planned as KakaHina, but it’s shifting toward SasuHina as the main endgame!) Sasuke in this story has a bit of a playboy streak, inspired by his RTN version. Think of his usual stoic self but with a player attitude. 😂

Chapters Completed: 5/25 (give or take)

There’s a one-shot prequel, for anyone interested, which takes place a few years before the main mafia story begins. You can read it here: Snowfall Promises

3. Broken Marriage Story

Pairings: SasuHina (married), KakaHina, SasuSaku

Brief Summary: Sasuke and Hinata were each in relationships, Sasuke with Sakura and Hinata with Naruto, before an arranged marriage contract was found between the Uchiha and Hyuga clans forced them to break things off. Now married to one another with no real love between them, they both engage in emotional cheating: Sasuke with Sakura, and Hinata with Kakashi. Sasuke barely spends any time with Hinata, remaining hung up on Sakura, and typically sees her more often than he does his own wife. Naruto, though hurt by the situation, chooses to keep his distance and focus on his Hokage duties. So he won’t appear much in the story. The main focus is on the dynamics between KakaHina, SasuHina, and SasuSaku. Fair warning: you’re going to *hate* Sasuke for a while. He’s not exactly a good husband here. 😅 I originally planned for this story to end in KakaHina, but I love SasuHina too much (though I’m sure many of you will be rooting for Kakashi for quite some time, even as I'm writing it, I'm rooting for him, haha). Trust me, you really won’t like Sasuke at first. 😬 Also, for those curious, Hinata and Sasuke are in their early twenties, which means there’s that 15-year age gap between Kakashi and Hinata. This will be a recurring theme throughout the story, especially with Mr. Contradicting-and-Jealous Sasuke bringing it up constantly.🤭

Chapters Completed So Far: 10/??? (This might end up being a long story, similar to Glass Tears.)

4. Roommates Story

Pairings: SasuHina, NaruHina, NaruSaku

Summary: Sasuke and Hinata share an apartment, while Hinata is dating Naruto, who hates the fact that his girlfriend is roommates with another man. Sasuke has had feelings for Hinata for a long time (SasuHina are childhood friends). Sasuke keeps his feelings to himself, afraid of ruining their friendship if it isn’t mutual, and aware that she’s committed to someone he doesn’t exactly get along with.

Chapters Completed: This is a one-shot, and I’m already halfway finished with it.

5. Time Travel Story

Pairings: SasuHina, SasuSaku (brief), NaruHina (brief)

Summary: Set during the Blank Period, Sasuke is in a relationship with Sakura, and Naruto is with Hinata. However, their lives are thrown into chaos when a jutsu goes horribly wrong (not from Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura and Hinata), and two teenagers from the future become stuck in their timeline, claiming that Sasuke and Hinata are their parents. This shocking news shakes the couples to their core, creating tension, awkwardness, and plenty of unanswered questions as they try to make sense of what’s happening.

Chapters Completed: 2/??? (This might end up being a short story, though I haven’t decided on the final chapter count yet.)

6. A Rewrite of a ShikaHinaSasu Story

Pairings: ShikaHina, SasuHina, SasuShika (👀), SasuSaku (brief)

Brief Summary: In the original story, Hinata was the new girl at school, and Sasuke was assigned as her tour guide. At the time, Sasuke was already in a relationship with Sakura. Sasuke and Shikamaru couldn’t stand each other, but no one really knew why. It eventually came out that Sasuke and Shikamaru had been in a secret relationship in the past. Sasuke, afraid of being judged or made fun of, didn’t want their relationship to become public and ended up leaving Shikamaru (and somewhat cheating) for Sakura. (This backstory was mentioned in the original, but not shown.) Shikamaru then used Hinata to make Sasuke jealous, a plan Hinata was aware of, though Shikamaru started feeling guilty as time went on. His plan did work, but not how he intended, as Sasuke began to develop feelings for Hinata, and so did Shikamaru, all while Shikamaru still had lingering feelings for Sasuke. It was a chaotic love triangle (or square?) that I’m honestly embarrassed about now. 😅I’m planning to rewrite it to improve the story and smooth out the messy drama while keeping the tension intact. I haven’t decided if the rewrite will end as ShikaHina or ShikaHinaSasu, so stay tuned!

Chapters Completed So Far: None. I haven’t gotten around to starting the rewrite yet.

7. Rekindling a Friendship Story

Pairings: SasuHina, NaruHina (minor, one-sided), SasuSaku (one-sided)

Brief Summary: Similar to how Sasuke and Hinata were portrayed as siblings in my ShikaHina story, Shadows in Bloom, this new story takes a similar approach but removes the sibling dynamic, focusing instead on their past friendship before the Uchiha massacre. For those who haven’t read Shadows in Bloom, Sasuke was friends with Hinata (and her family) before the massacre, and when he returned to the village, they rekindled that bond. This story will be set during the Blank Period with a few changes: Sasuke accepts having his arm repaired, he never leaves the village, and Naruto and Hinata aren’t a couple. Sasuke stays in Konoha and reconnects with Hinata, eventually turning their renewed friendship into something deeper.

Chapters Completed So Far: None (just an outline).

8. Bonding Over Grief Story

Pairing: SasuHina

Brief Summary: Set after the Fourth Great Ninja War, this story explores how Sasuke and Hinata each withdraw from their friends in different ways due to depression. They repeatedly cross paths at Konoha’s Cemetery and begin to form a connection through shared grief. Sasuke wrestles with nightmares of Itachi, guilt over killing him, and the burden of being the last Uchiha, while Hinata mourns Neji’s death. This will be a heavy story touching on themes of loss, mourning, survivor’s guilt, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Trigger warnings include suicidal ideation, depression, trauma/flashbacks, and more. The narration will alternate solely between Sasuke and Hinata (one chapter from Hinata’s POV, the next from Sasuke’s), which may make for an intense read at times. I did consider including other characters’ perspectives to show how they perceive Sasuke and Hinata’s behavior, but decided to keep the focus on the two of them. Despite the heavier tone, there will be moments of hope as the story progresses. It’s also likely to be a slow burn, as I want to keep their emotional journey as realistic as possible.

Chapters Finished So Far: None (only an outline).

Out of all these stories, the Broken Marriage story and the Bonding Over Grief story, are the only slow burns, but the Broken Marriage story will be longer. I can’t wait to start posting these, but for now, my main focus is completing Glass Tears. Once I’ve finished at least half of the chapters for any of these upcoming stories, I’ll start posting!

So I’m trying to get into sasunaruhina and I was wondering if you had any fic or blog recs? I’m primarily a Hinata and naruhina fan and often with the ship the vibes I get are sasunaru with Hinata on the side 😕. Since you’re also mainly a naruhina fan I thought you might have some suggestions.

I wouldn't say I'm a NaruHina fan, more of a NaruHina obsessed addict that lives and breathes NaruHina, lmao.

There aren't many true NaruHinaSasu fics I can in good conscience rec to you, (as in the endgame will be a throuple and there is equal love among all) because as you said, most are not really NaruHinaSasu fics, they're SasuNaru with Hinata on the side as garnish, if that, or SasuHina with Naruto as an optional side dish and I can't get down with any of those. Unfortunately there aren't enough fics to choose from in the first place as the NaruHinaSasu pairing is severely under-loved 😩it's something me, demonofthefridge and @opal-chan are trying to rectify though🤭As far as where to get started on this throuple, anything @opal-chan has written is a safe, true NaruHinaSasu throuple fic for sure. Stories written by me alone are also safe and will be equal affection when the throuple is established, and any angst or plot has been resolved. I have 4 upcoming NaruHinaSasu fics that will be posted soon. One of which will be ready by Wednesday of next week, so look out for those.

From Me: A Cure For Love Secrets of the Hidden Leaf You'll see another fic attached to me called A New Dream where I'm listed as co-writer with @mrs-messy, that one I'd say hold off on for right now. This is a re-write of a story @mrs-messy has already written out that wasn't a throuple. This second version is planned to be an equal throuple, but Mrs.Messy is more of a SasuNaru or SasuHina fan, so that plan may change depending on where she wants to take the endgame. This story was originally hers and I want her to be able to retain her creative liberties to take it where she needs to, so I can't mark that one as safe, so just a hold off on it until that one is a bit further into the trenches.

-it's the mystery of Hinata's background that really fuels this piece for me. Icing on the cake is Naruto as a wonderfully sexy and dangerous stranger and the sexual tension between them that is absolutely exquisite.

"Paper Rings" by Its_Levioooosaa - Rated E, College/Soulmates AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. In a world where soulmates are found after a touch and after a brief moment of pain, resulting in a red loop circling the first knuckle of each person's pinky finger. Fating the two people together and leaving it up to them to decide what their relationship will be. Hinata had just stopped at her friends for a piece of pizza, little did she know that she'd be leaving with a soulmate.

-It's a cute premise and I can't wait to see what happens next! I love a good soulmate AU!

ok mercury retrograde is a fic based on a really goofy premise called "what if i shit on all the canon pairings at once?" via the medium of gaalee fanfic. it's essentially a story told from all of the other konoha 12 POVs where everyone on earth is having relationship (or pining) problems except, apparently, gaara and lee, who (in the POV of non-overlapping people, so no one makes the connection) seem to have secret paramours that are perfect for them hooHA. some start pairs include sasusaku, naruhina, and inosai, and end pairs being sns, inosaku, kibahina, etc. shikatema and chokarui stick the landing but. i like them well enough xo
