Time is not on her side, and her sanity is on the line. Why couldn’t this have been a normal week? Why does Lucy have to be such a nuisance? And what the f*** is it that the ShadowMan want, really? The journey will take her to places she’s done her best to forget, wishing she could have just left Lucy alone that day in the park. Head or tail, what will it be? Will the past stay hidden, or are the knocks too loud to be ignored?

Story Telling. This little aubergine is just waiting to have an adventure! Children are geniuses at making up stories. Encourage them. Stories don’t need to be written down. They can be told through pictures, with puppets and toys, or simply told. Fruits and vegetables, cooking 🥄 gardening tools. All can become characters in a story. I wrote ‘The Trouble with Pedro Pear’ during a series of story writing workshops I ran for young children. It is one of my granddaughters favourite stories because she loved joining in with all the ‘Boo’s!’ Pedro Pear is part of a series of stories called, ‘Stories from Five a Day Hill’. When writing these stories I followed exactly the format the children were given which was to write a story with a hidden ‘lesson’ and to illustrate using ordinary coloured pencils. Of course, we want to entertain and delight the children as our first priority, but we want to make sure the stories also amuse an older, more insightful audience too.
