Rest Easy, River Boy.
A small memorial piece I had illustrated recently as a stress reliever, and means of coping of sorts. This is dedicated to Narayana Johnson, also known as River Boy on social media — the main audio director and composer for the Cult of the Lamb OST — who has recently passed away. This came as quite the shock to me, personally, and I’m still struggling to truly come to terms with the reality of it all.
He left behind an inspiring legacy, his music and work inspired and influenced so many people — including myself. The work he produced held such an incredibly creative flare — so clearly woven with love and authentic soul. He made each musical composition unique in their own right; having the ability to immerse you into the game just by a simple soundtrack, bringing each seemingly minuscule detail to life.
Despite me never having personally met him, I heard Narayana was a compassionate, bubbly, and so deeply artistically passionate person. Whoever knew him personally, was so incredibly blessed to do so. He was a person who poured his damn soul into the music he crafted, interlacing his every being with his compositions — being a reflection of himself. Without his work, Cult of the Lamb wouldn’t be nearly as much of an artistic masterpiece in of itself.
My deepest condolences to the developer team, his family, friends, and others whom Narayana Johnson had influenced and impacted with his presence and creativity. To Narayana, I know you’ll never see this — but I hope you’re at peace, and know you and your work were loved so much more than you could ever comprehend. I would’ve done anything to make you understand how much it meant to me as a young aspiring artist, along with the millions of others who you’ve influenced.
Rest in Peace, Narayana Johnson. Your soul lives on through every musical compostion part of Cult Of The Lamb, and I am so incredibly grateful to have been inflicted by it personally.
Forever Praise The Lamb, may they guide your spirit to rest.

Well this sucks
While I wasn't as in love with the ost as many others, as I think it had some issues that I won't get into in this post, it really can't be understated how intrumental River Boy's music was to CotL's identity.
My heart goes out to Massive Monster and River Boy's family, who are most certainly going through a lot.
There are so many questions rushing in my head right now, but I won't list them unless someone asks.
Edited my first paragraph because someone thought I was insulting River Boy by implying I didn't like the music of the game.

Just a little news update from me!
I changed the names on some of the posts in the hopes that it'll be easier to find and search.
I promised to get a matching tattoo with my little sister in a few months. She wants a Unfinished Swan one with me, so I need to save up.
Also, I've been really sad about the news about River Boy, who composed the COTL soundtrack, so I've been taking time to just draw some lambs to cheer myself up. I might post them at some point, but for now, it's just to make myself feel better about the news.
So! Check out the store and see the updated names and see if there's anything that maybe you hadn't seen before!
Edit: Here's some stuff I drew. <3

Processing Grief and the Loss of River Boy
One of my favourite muscial artists, possibly my literal favourite, suddenly passed away early this month. Currently, details of his death are not being released as his friends and family process their loss.
River Boy, Narayana Johnson, was such an amazing artist and seemed to spark joy in everyone who knew him. His music hit my brain and soul in a way no music has before.
Since the release of Cult of the Lamb, I've listened to thousands of hours of his music. In 2023, every one of my top spotify songs were his. For the last 2 years, he was my top artist by a wide margin and I was in the top 1% of his listeners. Every time the developers announced a new update, the thing I was most excited for was more of Narayana's music.
It's rare for the passing of a celebrity to really impact me. I find it hard to connect with people in that way and, like many, I tend to be more sad that we will not see more of their work. Narayana's passing feels like I've lost a piece of my soul.
Seeing the news of his passing hit me like a truck and multiple times I've found myself breaking down and crying. With the timing, at first I desperately hoped it was a terrible april fools joke. I searched for any extra news, anything to make sense of his passing. I've read through every social media release, every article, searched his every account for anything, any hint, of why this happened.
When things have settled, those close to him may release more details, but I know this search is really just my brain struggling to accept his loss. I don't know when I'll be able to listen to his music again, with this heavy grief feeling so encompassing. I know he wouldn't want his music to be abandoned though, and I hope someday I can enjoy his work like I once did, that I can listen to it and feel love and joy and honour his memory, keep this part of him alive, the part of him that still lives in my soul.
Living, creating, we put out so much more love and joy into the world than we realize. I never got to meet or speak with Narayana. He would never know who I am, as an individual, but he knew he had a growing community brought together by his work. I hope he knew how much we loved him. I hope he is at peace.

RIP River Boy. I don’t think I’ve loved a video game soundtrack as much as I loved cotl’s.

As I’ve said many times, my current living situation (living with my conservative Christian parents) makes it so I cannot play Cult of The Lamb, but I am able to listen to the soundtrack, which I have done many times. The music of cotl is one of the only things I’ve been able to personally experience from my current hyperfix’s source.
River Boy, Narayana Johnson, may you rest in peace and know how much you and your music has been loved, is loved, and will continue to be loved. Thank you for sharing your work with the world and making me feel some sort of connection to the game, before I can even play it myself 💛

Recently Narayana Johnson, AKA River Boy, has passed away. He was one of my favorite artists, I would listen to his music during the day to pass the time, or to calm down from a meltdown. I was devastated at the news.
I made this artwork as a tribute for him, may he rest in peace.

Flowers for the Fallen (RIP River Boy)
When i first played this game, not only was i amazed by the art style and visuals, but i was amazed at the music Narayana made for the game. Each track he made for this beautiful game fit the theme it was going for and i loved it so much. Something i didn't know until today was that he was the voices of the followers, which is absolutely incredible.
He truly was such a talented man.
So it came as a shock to me that he's passed away. When i opened Bluesky this afternoon whilst walking down the street, time stopped for me. I was shocked that he had passed away so suddenly. It wasn't what i wanted to hear today, of all the people the universe had chose to get rid of, it was Narayana Johnson (River Boy).
All i can say now is that I am beyond devastated. We will never forget how much soul you've put into Cult of the Lamb. My condolences are with the Massive Monster Team and Narayana's Family.
We will all truly miss him. May you rest in peace, Narayana.
