I try not to idealize even my favorite historical figures. Especially if these figures are military men.
Ney punished the Spanish guerrillas very cruelly during the Peninsular Wars, and this cannot be denied. So I wanted to draw this.
This does not mean that I do not like the historical figure I have chosen. Ney is a very important person for me, who has seriously influenced my life, but I try not to idealize him.

"AĀ death maskĀ is a likeness of a person's face after theirĀ death, usually made by taking a cast or impression from the corpse. Death masks may be mementos of the dead or be used for creation ofĀ portraits.
The main purpose of the death mask from theĀ Middle AgesĀ until the 19th century was to serve as a model for sculptors in creating statues and busts of the deceased person. Not until the 1800s did such masks become valued for themselves.
In otherĀ culturesĀ a death mask may be aĀ funeral mask, an image placed on the face of the deceased before burial rites, and normally buried with them. The best known of these are the masks used inĀ ancient EgyptĀ as part of theĀ mummificationĀ process, such as theĀ mask of Tutankhamun, and those fromĀ Mycenaean GreeceĀ such as theĀ Mask of Agamemnon."

If you donāt know, a death note is a magic notebook and if you write someoneās name in it, they die. You can also control them before death if you wanna have fun!
*Define ātrustā how you want. āTrustā them to use it well? āTrustā them to not use it at all? āTrustā them to do something funny? Define your terms at your comfort level.

"Because she is mine, she is going to die."
Friedrich Wilhelm III's words upon hearing of the very bad conditions his wife, Queen Luise of Prussia, is in, shortly before her death.
This text also says that the news struck him so hard he went more or less into shock, and his adjutants had to force water down his throat to get him out of his "paralysing numbness" and that those were the only words he managed to get out.
Then, shortly after the news got to him and right before he would meet her and be with her until her death, he hastily scribbled these words down:
(Loosley translated): Today's news threaten me with destruction. Is she gone! - So I am gone- Just because of her I still cling to life. She is my everything! My entire, my only happiness on earth. But God will hear my utmost prayer and save me from this loss. My whole mind is shattered, I just have this single thought of her, everything with her, nothing without her! ... With trembles am I thinking of the reunion. It deems life- or death. O. No, no. Mercy, mercy, this strike would be more awful and horrible as anything that could ever hit me, if we could just stay together, then let us be punished as God deems fit. Amen! Amen! Amen! Charlottenburg 18th of July 1810.
Yeah. Can you hear me cry in the corner?
#god i did not expect to cry at this hour#its almost 30 minutes after midnight oof#i love them and i feel so so sorry for them#friedrich wilhelm iii#frederick william iii#luise von mecklenburg strelitz#history#prussia#luises death#i will use this tag so just in case people want to block this because i mean it is rather sad#they deserve at least a movie#people would watch it man#i am so sure of it#napoleonic era#napoleonic wars

Marie Louiseās reaction to Napoleonās death
āI am just now in great uncertainty. The Gazette of Piedmont has announced in such a positive manner the death of the Emperor Napoleon, that it is hardly possible to doubt it any longer. I confess I was extremely startled at it, though I have never had any deep feelings of any kind for him. I cannot forget that he is the father of my son and that, far from behaving badly to me, as every one believes, he always showed me every considerationāthe only thing one can look for in a political marriage. I was therefore very grieved at it and, though one should be glad that he has ended his unhappy life in a Christian manner, I could still have wished him many more years of happiness and lifeāprovided that it was far away from me. In the uncertainty about it I have settled myself at Sala, not wishing to go to the theater till I know something positive. My health has become so frail that I have felt this shock.ā
ā Marie Louiseās letter to Countess Victoire (1821)
Source: Compiled by Charles A. Shriner, Wit, Wisdom and Foibles of the Great: Together With Numerous Anecdotes Illustrative of the Characters of People and Their Rulers
Marie Louise, deeply upset at not being informed of the news by her family in Vienna:
āI confess that what gave me most sorrow, in these circumstances, was that I had not had any official news, nor any private, friendly letter from Viennaāthe only way by which such could reach me in safety. I confess that I expected more interest and affection on that side, and it gave me a cruel blow by showing me how little one can count on all oneās own people, and this grief can only be cured by time.ā
