Was reading a very brilliant piece on how fandom culture has shifted such that the gift economy that fandom is built around has changed (which I have since lost 😭😭😭😭) and it really made me think about how often I’ve been joking about withholding my fic updates until I get x number of comments like those ffnet authors of yore.

It was an extremely annoying thing to do and I’m glad that trend died with ffnet. Like I want to be clear that I will never do that. But also I think it did instill this sense that there’s something that I have to give back to the author for the joy they were giving me - aka we were in fact in a social contract of sort because we were equals within a community. And for the fics that I deeply enjoyed I honestly didn’t even feel annoyed because yeah that seemed like the least they should demand from us.

Right now it feels a little more like I’m being perceived as an influencer selling a product to be reviewed instead of acquaintances that enjoy and geek about the same thing. This is not to say that I don’t have absolutely wonderful readers, some who’ve become my friends even. But I think that adds a layer of anxiety too? Putting the burden of my need for connection on the 3 people that are consistently nice to me about my fics is a lot and the act of posting the fic just hasn’t felt very joyful.

I’ve written PLENTY in the last year that I share with my friends here and there but my AO3 is barren in comparison. And I’m starting to recognize that the reward for doing that bit of work to get a fic finished to where it can be posted as an AO3 fic just isn’t there anymore.

Quirk: Wing Lava (WL for short)

Quirk definition: Large light blue wing’s (like their uncle) can turn wing’s into lava and manipulate other parts of the body (skin muscle) but can not add how much stronger they get. Can harden the lava and turn it into obsidian to use and turn it into like a cage, but it can still burn others.

Family: uncle (pro hero hawks)

~Now let’s get on with the story!~

Chapter one: the meeting morning…

You were very young, like six to seven years old. You had gone to live with your uncle, and he just so happened to be a hero. But here’s the reason why…

Your mother and father were not the nicest people you knew, but let’s not go into detail. You only had two other relatives and the people who had taken you from your parents had decided that it would be better for you to live with your uncle since he was more “safe” since your grandmother was still slightly recovering in a way. So there marks the day you went to go live with a newly profound hero.. Hawks, or as you would know him. “Unkle Keigo”. 

5:23 AM Monday…

“Ok Y/n, behave yourself. I understand that you are excited, but this is no way for a child to act.” Your bodyguard/nani Matilda explained to you

“But Nana, I want to look around!” You said in a small whisper shout as she tried to pull you down and keep you from flying around with your quirk or causing some sort of mischief like you always did. Matilda thought that was what made you most like your uncle.

“Not here on the train platform, it’s dangerous  and like I had said before you need to behave so you don’t get the wrong first impression.” She said with a soft smile kneeling down so she could straighten out your (favorite color) jacket and rub a smudge off of your face. (You were wearing a jacket, a light blue t-shirt  underneath with a picture of a dog, and wearing a pair of shorts.) Of course being persistent and not like having her hand on your face you tried to pull away like any kid your age would. 

You and her were waiting to get onto the train so you could meet your uncle at kyushu city. After waiting about two minutes the two of you boarded the train and sat down. You kicked your legs while slightly bopping to the song that played over the train's speakers. It wasn't too crowded, well it made sense it was five in the morning not many people had to be to work or school  till seven. Matilda pulled a small zip lock bag of (preferred snack) out of your backpack which was in her lap.

6:46 AM…

You excitedly got off the train practically dragging your slightly exhausted nani with you. 

“Slow down Y/N.” She asked you, slightly out of breath.  She picked you up so she could keep a better eye on you. After dealing with your shenanigans Matilda started walking out of the train station with you in hand. There was a specific meeting spot that you were to meet Hawks at. After about five to six minutes of walking, you and Matilda made it to a small local  ice cream shop. 

When the two of you walked inside you saw a few people, not a lot of them but a comfortable amount. One of those people was a man with a blond looking hair color almost a spicy mustard color, it was still slightly odd as if it were styled to look a little messy. He was also wearing a black leather jacket and jeans. You could not see his face clearly because he was turned the opposite way you were walking.

Matilda tapped on his shoulder, “Sir, do you happen to be Keigo Takami?” She asked in a polite tone. The man turned around with a smile. He had bright hassle eyes with eyeliner on both sides of them. 

“Yes I am. That means you must be Matilda. Based on the description of what I was told.” He replied happily.

He looked at you. “And that means you must be Y/N.” He said with a bigger smile but the same tone. He seemed to be a very enthusiastic and accepting person from what you could tell. You smiled just as bright and looked at him. Matilda smiled and set you down, she could tell the two of you were definitely related between your similar smiles and fluffy hair, or just your personalities in a way. You and Keigo shared a long needed hug.

 “You look so much bigger than when I last saw you.” Keigo told you with tears of joy in his eyes. Long story short, he had met you just a little while after you were born because his sister had invited him to come meet you, even if they hadn't been very close at the time. 

5:30 P.M

After about an hour of just getting to know Keigo for a little bit Matilda had to leave since you were gonna be staying with your uncle and she now knew he was gonna be a good person for you to grow up as a guardian. 

“Bye Y/N maybe I’ll see you sometime soon.” Matilda said with a big smile while giving you the most warming and comforting hug you could have possibly gotten from her since you met her. And with that she walked back toward the train station. 

And with that you now had a new guardian, but it was just the meeting morning and only the beginning, where will your story lead you and who will you become friends with on the way?

Okay so i open AO3 and get slapped by the wholesome title that makes me smile immediately ✨🩷 i know for sure it's gonna be a great chapter because one, it's made by you. Two, it involve family wholesome moments + shenanigans.

I I honestly forgot about writing the review because i was actually too deep in the fic! Sorry 😝

I saw a part before the spoiler clip and am surprise to see Casey was with purple! Biggest betrayal since he's daddy's golden boy! And Leo fakin' his sleep was such a dad move because my dad used to do it whenever i snuck to take some bag of chips xD

I literally went 'Awww🥺' when Leo gave permission for purple to hold it and even told him how to take out of his arm. Dad + points💙

Leo pretending to think about purple's request got me like 'Oh you son of-' while smiling and giggling, JUST SAY YES! And purple begging saying 'please' while hugging it got me even more! If i was there i'd cover leo's mouth and say " he say yes, now go before he change his mind ".

In the next part i realized Casey was sleeping not helping Purple! Also can he do all of it in 3 hours?? I laughed and 'Aww'ed at how Donnie's begging leo to just give him the arm and save what left of his reputation ( that IF there's any left lol) ngl, i knew the ghosts had to interfere xD

Also when Leo was out of the bed i thought he crawled on four like this

" could be a thief trying to steal great ideas from a thrilling TV show " this got me LAUGHING XDD

Now the fact that 4 ghosts have to stay with leo and watch his favorite TV show for probably hours?! That's a real torture xD But it got better when Donnie admit ghosts are real!! Now what's left is leo... And probably blue.

" Playing on the wall is a series of dramatic background music and horrific editing that rival a PowerPoint presentation " Nani you really did PowerPoint dirty, do i sense a personal hate there?👀

Also papa Leo forgetting some Spanish made me think he and blue could have some bonding time learning it together.💙🩵

Little blue getting more tense and panicked by the lost arm - i also forgot he lost it too - got me worried about him, i wanna help him feel better, i wanna hug him 🥺

Blue asking about how it feels to have a new arm making feel worried for him, it's a right choice from leo to be honest with him about how it feels so blue can prepare himself for the future tho, and i even loved how he said 'you don't have to get an arm' because unlike leo, blue and the rest of the colors have time!

My smile turn back again as blue talk about how robotic arms are way cooler! Tho i wonder what can serve as new arm instead of robotic? Also leo is truly taking the 'am old so you have to dpeak up' excuse waaay better then i thought xD sneaky old man.

Seeing the second spoiler clip got me laughing knowing that the ghosts have to watch it ALL with leo and blue and they can't escape. God i gotta make a meme about this somehow.

I laughed at both Donnie and April's comments about papa leo xD but it's true tho!

When the noises came i was excited like " ohohoh~ what's happening now?!? " until it turned out to be poor mikey trying to do anything with his hands, but when April said " amputation " i was like " woah woah woah! What?!? "👀

When leo saw how small orange's hands are and called them baby hands my heart melted from cuteness.

I got more level of happiness when orange's hand got better then before, i know it hasn't been fully healed but still its better!✨🧡 "I’ll figure out a way to expel my ninpo into a form that will project into the physical world " this got my mouth gapping 🤩🤩🤩 COULD IT BE?!

My head imagined purple with red eyes as he need sleep morning then anything.

The kids's shenanigans are back again and am over here LAUGHING

Robot arms are definitely cooler but that’s not the entire reason Blue wants one. (Totally doesn’t want one just because Leo has one and wants to be like Leo)

  -If the mother’s last name sounds familiar, its because it’s Mei Hatsune’s aunt on their father’s side. Katama was disowned as a teen and fled to Vietnam where they lived for a while before meeting Viktor. He took her to Russia to live a better life even though Viktor was a government spy against the USSR. They married and had Mimi years later. When the USSR found out about Mimi and other children in the same situation, assassins killed her parents and Mimi was taken into an orphanage to be given to the highest paying American willing to adopt. Mimi and Mei don’t know that they’re related, only that they have similar quirks.  

Combat techniques and preferences:  

She’s the team tank and main shooter. So if you have her doing long range attacks, her scope will come in handy when spying or sniping. If you have her do close combat, she can hold on her own with her strength. You can’t catch her dead without a hand gun on the field! Guns (or anything she can aim) are her choice of weapon. She doesn’t always think before attacking so she depends on Jin or Ita to come up with the plan and back ups. 

About :

Daughter of an anti-USSR spy and runaway, she was a very protected child and lived a comfortable life. When she 1st activated her quirk at age 2, her father taught her how to shoot and aim with weapons to perfect her quirk. Her parents trained her to be the perfect spy but it was all just games to Mimi and didn’t know if it was right or wrong. When the USSR heard about this, they sent assassins to kill her. When she killed the assassin, the USSR saw her as a threat at the young age of 6. They then killed her parents and took her to an orphanage that deals with rich, American couples that want to adopt. When nobody wanted to adopt or foster Mimi, she spent alot of time alone and school was just as bad. When she was in middle school, puberty hit her with a bulked up and tall body, and the bullying got worse. At the same time, she was looking into intelligence programs around the world so she can live a new and better life. UA got to her 1st and she took the opportunity and started her new life in Japan. Lived in the same type of living situation as Ita until the introduction of dorms.  

School life:

An above average student in the program and pretty much sticks by Ita and Jin. Favorite subject is Weaponry and Modern World History. ALWAYS has candy in her bag to the point where you can smell it when she opens her bag to take out anything! Writes her notes in Russian. Turns up at the intelligence kick backs with Ita and Jin. If she sees either one (or both) in trouble at school, she slings them on her shoulder and walks away with them and scolds them for being ‘bad babushkas’. Didn’t question her sexuality until she saw Midnight and has a big dumb crush on her, which sucks because Midnight talks to Ita almost everyday at school.  

Uniform and Costume:

On occasion will wear different shoes and braid her hair to change up her school look. Doesn’t like wearing the skirt but doesn’t want to wear the pants either. She designed her costume to be a long sleeve with shorts jumpsuit with gloves, combat boots, support googles and a garter to hold more ammo. PE clothes are the same as the other two, just with their last name and flags.

Fun details:

Mimi is the short hand name she likes to go by, its taken by the first phonetic syllable of her first and middle name, Milana Mikhalia. She cooks, but only soups and can perfectly boil anything. Loves to go shopping with Ita since they have very different bodies types, they shop for clothes so they don’t feel bad when they can’t find anything in their size. Hates that everyone outside the program excludes or hurts Ita for dumb reasons, so she sticks up for her by being loud and menacing in Russian. Mimi is into kinks and has no shame to let you know if she wants to fool around with you. Can’t dance but will gas up Jin and Ita when they do. Every time Ita cracks her knuckles and she's in earshot, she cringes so hard that they nearly pass out. Alot of people think she’s the secret love child of All Might and Snipes because of her height, build and shooting ability. Speaks in Russian but its when she's angry and cursing at Putin when he’s on the news

These two are the most lovey dovey couple IN THE WORLD. Prove them wrong, I dare you.

Camila Chameleon is a rich city girl that is a VERY very popular actor. She's acted in multiple movies, TV shows, and even voice acted a few times. She is 23, shes Filipino, loves pastels, and is the girliest mf out there. Prefers skirts and shorts over pants, will kill for a long and flowy dress, all the works. She's a rather short and stout woman who has nothing but confidence in her appearance. She's got thick, wavy black hair that reaches all the way to her knees and light caramel skin.

Her one downfall is how much of a people pleaser she is. Not to her fans, of course. Her career would be over years go if she was. No, she is a massive people pleaser to OTHER famous people and, more specifically, potential suitors.

This behavior wasn't always prominent in her day-to-day. It mostly came from her ever so doting mother who is CONSTANTLY hovering over her daughters shoulder whenever she gets the chance. (her mother doesnt have a name yet bear with me-) She isn't overprotective...well maybe a little bit, but the main thing she pushes Camila for is a husband. To quote, "carry on the bloodline" or some shit.

Cam always knew it was bull but she still took it to heart and is constantly in and out of relationships because of it. This brought many boyfriends, fiance's, and even one husband, but no one ever stayed. For one reason or another they always broke up. Without fail.

Her experience in dating gave her information, however. Information on which men were lazy and which men were hard-working, things like that. Camila got used to being able to tell what someone was like upon meeting them. So when she finally met Thomas, she was thrown for a loop.

Thomas Frantein is a VERY wealthy writer that got his start from an ongoing best selling series! He gives off this charismatic aura that basically brings in any and all singles in the area. He's actually quite feminine(like hell hes going to tell or show anyone though), he loves to listen to classical music, and has a tiny pet Pomeranian named Nani. Though he is still single himself, he isn't really searching for anything like that just yet. Got that loner wolf vibe, y'know.

But little does everyone else know that is actually a clever little facade. He avoids relationships bc he's an undercover police officer currently pursuing a well known gang in the city.

Tom is actually a very lovey person. He wants so bad to have someone to pour all his love and affection into! It's just his job that prevents him from doing so. Too dangerous. Also, how the hell would he explain what he does during the night without driving them away? No way jose. He gets attached way too easily to let even the possibility of his significant other getting involved and hurt to happen.

That is, until he meets Camila.

Cam's first thoughts on him was "why the hell can I not read this dude". Her first impression instincts were thrown out the window because she couldn't decide whether he was a loner or whether he was gay. Legit. She immediately saw him and went: Gay. No doubt. But then he made a light flirt at one of the girls passing him which made him take up all of Camila's attention.

He was really interesting! His fashion sense was really different from anyone else she had met, his hair was just long enough for him to pull it into a puffy ponytail, and his eyelashes were long as hell.

So she interacts with him, they end up getting into all sorts of shenanigans involving her mother, his father, the gang, both of their careers, and their slowly growing feelings for each other.

Fall 2017 Preview

Another season, another... season.

1 Houseki no Kuni: This might be one that looks silly in three months but it's definitely the show I'm most excited for right now. 3D anime has been nothing but good to me for the past few years and has proven to me that both cute girls and the spirit of Japanese anime can be preserved in 3D. This one has got an out-there concept and aesthetic and I can't wait to see what they do with it. Add to that the best voice cast of the season and you've got yourself a hype.

2 Blend S: This is going to be amazing. Just look at what it says under the title in the logo. [x]SADISTIC [x]TSUNDERE [x]IMOUTO [x]ONEESAN [x]IDOL. It's got all the ingredients: adorable character design, a blondenblu, and a cafe theme which automatically makes me think it's better because of subconscious influence from Gochiusa. It can't miss!

3 Konohana Kitan: Cute shrine shenanigans! Blend S is my pick for cute girls doing cute things this season but this show doesn't look like it's going to lag very far behind. The director is the guy responsible for a couple of criminally underrated classics: Ebiten and Nagasarete Airantou.

4 Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou: This looks like it could be what I really wanted out of Made in Abyss: cute girls having slow adventures at the end of the world. The ever-masterful Fudeyasu Kazuyuki is penning the adaptation, so it's got everything going for it. A definite AOTS contender.

5 Mahoutsukai no Yome: This looks like one of the most... serious? shows of next season? I'm not really sure how to put it. It actually looks like it has an interesting plot and setting and stuff? Anime has broken my brain's ability to think about fiction outside of the frame of cute girls. Girls do look cute though!

6 Kino no Tabi: Kino is one of those things I've always heard about being really good but never had anything to do with. Never saw the old anime (it was already old when I started watching anime in 2004) or read any of the novel, but by all accounts it's one of the best LNs out there. Kuroboshi Kouhaku's stock couldn't be higher right now, so it's as good a time as any to do a new adaptation of it. Ao-chan and Ayaneru is a power duo in the cast department so I have high hopes for this one.

7 Imouto Sae Ireba Ii: I recently read the first volume of the LN this is based on, and honestly, I thought it was kind of bad. But if there's one thought I had while reading it, it was "this should really be an anime and not a book." There's literally no plot to speak of, it's just sequential vignettes of characters doing random things like playing a tabletop RPG or going to Okinawa because reasons. That makes for a shitty novel, but sounds like it'll be right up my alley for an anime. Plus Oonuma Shin is directing, and you know he's one of my all-time favorites.

8 Boku no Kanojo ga Majimesugiru Shobicchi na Ken: Now this, lads, is anime. It's an anime about dirty jokes starring Yuuki Aoi, how can it NOT be good?

9 Himouto! Umaru-chan R: I keep forgetting this is coming next season entirely. Umaru is one of those shows that firmly occupies a distinct "second tier" of cute girl doing cute thing shows. Not bad by any stretch of the imagination, and I have fond memories of the first season, but just lacking that je nais sais quoi that your Gochiusas and Hidamaris have. Looking forward to more Kirie-chan, who is best girl.

10 Two Car: When I see the title of this show (it's つうかあ in Japanese) I just hear the train driver from Densha de Go announcing that he's passing through a station. Everyone thinks of the same thing when you mention an all-girl sports anime based on an obscure or fictionalized concept; I don't think I even need to mention it by name. That's right, but I don't think this will be nearly as lewd as Keijo! No but in all seriousness, it's gonna be Garupan but with sidecars. I just wish the girls wore lewd outfits or something instead of race suits. What can I say, I am simple man.

11 Kujira no Ko-ra wa Sunajou ni Utau: Looks fantasy as fuck. Ishiguro Kyouhei is directing his first anime since the best show of last year, Occultic;Nine, and the usually capable Yokote Michiko is on the script (although I haven't actually liked anything she's written since uh, I guess Sekkou Boys would be the last one...) Still, this kind of artsy-fartsy show looks like a good followup to O;9 for Ishiguro so I'm interested in how it turns out.

12 Dies irae: Everyone says the game this is based on is a masterpiece, or whatever, but all anyone is going to talk about with this show is it's that one crowdfunded show. If it turns out to be bad everyone is going to feel real stupid. The character designs look pretty ugly to my taste, although Nabatame Hitomi's character is pretty cute. Man, when was the last time Naba-nee played a major heroine?

13 Ousama Game The Animation: Ah yes the Osama Game. Death game stories are always way too far up their own ass; I think the only good one I've seen was Akuma no Riddle and that was solely good because the entire cast was cute girls. There's some pretty cute girls in this one too but it looks like most of the main cast is dudes. Nice to see Pine Jam continue to raise their profile though.

14 URAHARA: The joshiryoku is takai with this one. The art looks aesthetic but the PV makes it look kind of cheap and doesn't inspire confidence. I'm not sure if Takahashi Natsuko has ever written an original anime of note so it's up in the air how this one turns out.

15 Wake Up, Girls! Shinshou: Ah WUG, or as it's known in the business, Yamakan's Folly. Funnily enough, Yamakan isn't even bothering to direct this one and I'm really interested to see if that's a good or a bad thing. WUG is definitely at the bottom of the tier ranking for idol anime but it's kind of taken on a life of its own, with the 3D version of the Wake Up Girls being pretty successful. The first anime was just okay; it'll be cool if they could pull an actually good one out of their hats.

16 Lovelive! Sunshine!!: Why do I continue to subject myself to aidorus. The first season of Sunshine was garbo and I hated it for just being the exact same thing as the original but worse. And yet I'm going to happily watch the second season because it's gonna have more Yohane in it, and Yohane is love, Yohane is life.

17 Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru -Washio Sumi no Shou-/-Yuusha no Shou-: Yuyuyu may have left a sour taste in a lot of mouths with the way it ended, but it was a complete story that actually, you know, ended. I'm really not sure we actually need more stories in this world, much less a prequel. We all already know what the twists are now so I'm not sure how they'll make it compelling. The second part of this weird production actually is a sequel but I think I want that even less than I do a prequel. Just leave the memories alone! At least it's got Hanabee.

18 Netojuu no Susume: Dork romance. Almost certainly a short, but Fudeyasu is writing it so it'll surely be good for a laugh.

19 UQ HOLDER! Mahou Sensei Negima 2: HIKARU KAZE WO OIKOSHITARA NANI GA MATTEIRU NO KANA AMEFURI DEMO HEIKI NIJI NI NARU YOOOO KARAFURU HAPPY MATERIARU GO!! KIMI NI KITTO AERU NE CHIISANA YUUKI WO SAKASEYOUUUUUUUUUU

20 Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyoki na, Mondaiji: This is clearly shoujo bait but I'm a total sucker for cute teacher chan-nees and this one looks cute as hell. It's the first show that airs in the season so I'll probably end up checking it out just because of that, but I don't expect to finish it. It's probbaly going to end up being a weird abusive relationship because shoujo.

21 Shokugeki no Souma San no Sara: Unfortunately I won't be watching this since Tane-chan's role was recast. Nothing against Rierie but da Tane was literally half the reason I even watched this series (the other half being Alice who never gets enough screentime anyway).
