Have you played many Nancy Drew computer games?
I don't play them myself, but I watch Gab Smolders (joined sometimes by Jack Septiceye) playthroughs for background noise. In the Captive Curse game, Ned and Nancy get in a big fight about him not being important to her. While I hated the fight, the reaction of those two was HILARIOUS.
Is that type of action on Ned's part what you meant by disliking what Her Interactive did to him? I find it ironic that the Hardy Boys are comforting Ned in this game when, according to some odd alternative timeline I refuse to accept, she dates one of them.
Update: he called back and they worked it out while I was typing this.
I've played all of them. I have not seen the walkthrough by Gab and Sean, so I don't have any context for their reaction.
However, when it comes to how I don't like how Her treats Ned that moment both is and isn't what I meant.
This argument is not something that's new to Ned and Nancy, but I will say there are better examples. Romance Drama isn't Her's strong suit tbh. Honestly, I will say I prefer the versions where he is actually allowed to be present in the mysteries and nancy's life for three reasons:
Typically, we get to see Ned's behavior toward seeming less important or how Nancy's behavior makes him feel less important
The audience usually also gets to see Nancy recognize being wrong.
Continuing with the importance of visuals, when it comes to the resolution the audience also gets to see that as well and what leads up to it.
Obviously, when it comes to Captive Curse, it's not completely hidden from the audience, but I will argue that the fact that Nancy's feelings are in her diary and Ned's feelings come from speaking on the phone with either him or the Hardys results in a level of detachment that is only negative.
Although as I've said, Ned and the Hardy Boys would get along just fine if they cut out this unnecessary love-triangle nonsense.
Overall, this is one of the examples of how Her kneecaps Ned's character by forcing him to be a phone-only character creating detachment between him and the audience. The same thing also happens with Hannah and Carson.
#Not to mention it gets worse when they become more 'flanderized' as the series goes on#but the phone friends that get physical appearances might actually suffer more from that#and I specifically mean the hardy boys#Also I'm guessing you mean either super mysteries or the 70s tv show cause that's pretty much the only time she shows interest in Frank#ned nickerson#herinteractive#nancy drew#nancy drew games#hardy boys#frank hardy#joe hardy#I'm sorry but it will always be unnecessary because it's a crossover#I don't even really like regular love triangles but crossover ones are just even more unnecessary#CAP#captive curse

The Dead Boy Detectives (and crew), have been occupying my thoughts the past few weeks. Iâve watched the show on repeat, rewatched Sandman, actually started reading the Sandman graphic novels (currently on Seasons of Mist, the introduction of the Dead Boys), and Iâve started drawing the episodes in the style of old teen detective novels.
I started these before getting super into behind the scenes details. I went down a bit of a rabbit-hole last night, and was delighted to learn that show-runner Steve Yockey wanted the show to be reminiscent of The Hardy Boys, one of the main influences of these covers.
The accuracy of their depictions varies, I donât think they always really look like themselves. But I had a lot of fun.
I hope to continue designing these for a bit while the obsession holds, and maybe I can properly bring in purples, Crystalâs hero color.
[Alt Text:
Image 1: A series of covers on a white background. From left to right, "The Case Of The Dandelion Shrine", "The Case Of Devlin House", "The Case Of The Dandelion Shrine" (alt cover), "The Case Of The Hungry Snake", and "The Case Of The Lighthouse Leapers".
Image 2: Three teenagers, Charles, Crystal and Edwin explore a blue green cave with a skull covered in dandelions on a center shrine. Charles holds a flashlight, Crystal is climbing in while her eyes have gone white during a psychic episode, and Edwin is playing lookout. At the top of the page in yellow italics is the text âDead Boy Detectivesâ and below in off-white bold caps âTHE CASE OF THE DANDELION SHRINEâ.
Image 3: Edwin, Charles and Crystal peering around the corner of a yellow-green wooden hallway, looking at the silhouette of a man swinging an axe. They have varying worried expressions. At the top, in yellow italics is âDead Boy Detectivesâ and in off-white bold caps âTHE CASE OF DEVLIN HOUSEâ.
Image 4: Crystal and Niko stare at each other across a green hallway. Niko has her left hand raised and is surrounded by glowing images, stars, hearts, moons, butterflies, rainbows, and sparkles. The cast a faint pink light. At the top in yellow italics is âDead Boy Detectivesâ, and in off-white bold caps âTHE CASE OF THE DANDELION SHRINEâ.
Image 5: Charles and Edwin tied to chairs in a golden yellow room. Charles has an iron collar chained to his neck, and his wrists are bound. Edwin is in a white tank top, and his mouth is gagged with a clothe. On the wall is the shadow of the witch Esther, with her cane. In the corner is a large cabinet, Niko peers out of. On top of the cabinet is perched a crow, Monty. At the top, in yellow italics âDead Boy Detectivesâ and in off-white bold caps âTHE CASE OF THE HUNGRY SNAKEâ.
Image 6: Edwin, Charles and Crystal stand on stairs overlooking the gray sea and red sky. A giant angler fish, Angie, is staring at them. In the corner, on top of the hill is a classic red and white striped lighthouse. At the top, in yellow italics âDead Boy Detectivesâ and in off-white bold caps âTHE CASE OF THE LIGHTHOUSE LEAPERSâ.
Image 7: A series of book covers on a white background: âAlfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators in The Secret of Skeleton Islandâ, âNancy Drew Mystery Stories, The Ghost of Blackwood Hallâ, âNancy Drew, The Mystery at Lilac Innâ, âThe Hardy Boys, While the Clock Tickedâ, and âThe Three Investigators in The Mystery of the Coughing Dragonâ.

Answer under the cut!
Nancy never joins American Teens Against Crime, although the Hardy Boys are ATAC agents for all of the Undercover Brothers series and the Super-Mysteries revival. Notably, in the crossover books released between 2005 and 2013, Nancy usually begins the novels shopping or on a date, while the boys get to do ATAC spy missions.

Caregivers Mystery Inc. Headcanons (Scooby-Doo)
Fred Jones
If thereâs something you try to avoid doing - brushing your teeth, taking a nap, etc - heâll create a trap to catch you in. Every trap is super safe and incredibly fun!
Heâs probably the best cuddler in the gang; he gives fantastic bear hugs.
Fred loves taking you for rides in the Mystery Machine - especially if being in a moving vehicle helps you fall asleep.
Heâs big on puzzle books and loves to go through them with you.
He TRIES to be firm with you⌠but he just canât be. Youâre too cute!
Velma Dinkley
She is ACTUALLY firm with you; no puppy-dog eyes are going to change her mind. Nice try, though.
She enjoys doing crafts with you; anything that can occupy her hands but doesnât take too much focus is appealing to her. You once made her a beaded glasses chain, and she wears it everywhere.
She likes to give you worksheets to do - usually relating to history.
Sheâll read you Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books, and she makes sure you notice the important clues.
In general, Velma does best with big kids. She loves little kids, but hanging out with a kiddo who can (kind of) understand the things she talks about makes her feel more like a parent.
Daphne Blake
Daphne, on the other hand, does best with littler kids and babies. She loves having someone to fuss over and take care of.
She loves helping you get dressed everyday, and always puts you in cute outfits.
She is fascinated by chemistry, and definitely shares that passion with you. Making baking soda volcanos is one of your favorite shared activities.
If you like roller coasters, sheâs right there with you! Daphne loves coasters and can usually arrange for you to sit in the front car if you want.
(But she insists on being the one to buckle you in. Youâre much too young to do it by yourself!)
Shaggy Rogers
Food is his love language. Youâre feeling upset? He cooks up your favorite comfort meal. You did something really hard? He takes you out to celebrate! Youâve been playing for a long time? Snack break!
He is also SUPER careful about any food restrictions or allergies you have - and he will not hesitate to approach the waiter if thereâs a mistake in your order. (Heâs always polite, of course, but heâs not going anywhere until you have food you can eat.)
Whenever you have nightmares heâs right there to calm you down and help you fall back to sleep.
One of his favorite thing to do is hang out and watch movies with you. Even scary movies are fun (though he sometimes closes his eyes).
He can always, ALWAYS make you laughâŚ
Scooby-Doo
And YOU can always make SCOOB laugh. Heâs very easily amused and his snickering laughter make you giggle.
(And he also makes you laugh when he does impressions. The dogâs a total ham!)
Heâs super protective of you; even the scariest ghost couldnât make him leave your side.
He love to play with you, or just hang outâŚ
But his favorite thing is to curl up beside you and take a nap, knowing no monsters can get near you.

happy wincest wednesday!!! i really want to pay it forward from the ask you sent me last week and ask what you (both?) think sam and dean's favorite books are! i mostly answered based on what books i had already read, so i'm really curious if in the books you've read you'd have different opinions! if not though (or in addition if you'd like!), i'd love to know what you think their favorite movies are, too :) give dean's favorite medium a moment in the spotlight, too đ (@incesthemes)
hi! happy wincest wednesday!
hmm--i think sam has a long, enduring, passionate love affair with the hardy boys and nancy drew books. i think he longs in some ways to be the hardy boys/nancy drew, because they get to solve mysteries and be hypercompetent while also having a secure home environment. in nancy's case, she's popular and has a boyfriend and also gets to explore thick tomes of town lore. they were so easy to find at libraries across america, and super easy to steal/shoplift because of how thin they were.
(dean also makes fun of him by calling him a hardy boy for a long time, i imagine. you also cannot tell me dean would not get an absolute fucking kick out of calling sam "nancy")
i also think that as he gets older, he gets more bitter/disillusioned about both series, but still has a secret fondness for seeing their covers in bookstores.
as he gets older (high school age), sam definitely gravitates towards more gothic, as you mentioned! i think he finds wuthering heights compelling, but can't quite put his finger on it, and never tells dean because dean would make fun of him for liking such a girly book. science fiction/horror novellas are also fun to him (frankenstein, poe, dracula, jekyll, the murders in rue morgue).
we know dean is a closet intellectual at his own choice, so i imagine he steals/lifts books from libraries/stores, and keeps them in the bottom of his duffle. i think a lot of this happens after sam leaves for college and dean suddenly has 80 hours of free time a week now that he's not huffing sam's boxers and staring at him lovingly in the rearview mirror.
in terms of books that they had to read (and inevitably read/reread over and over again as they move to schools that haven't read them yet):
sam likes: tale of two cities by dickens, telltale heart by poe, in cold blood by capote, inferno by dante, to kill a mockingbird by lee, yellow wallpaper by gilman, matilda by dahl sam HATES: romeo and juliet by shakespeare, heart of darkness by conrad, a separate peace by knowles (he hates that he finds himself in gene), tess of the d'urbervilles (bc he also hates he strangely relates to it)
dean likes: in cold blood by capote, hamlet by shakespeare, 1984 by orwell, lord of the flies by golding, and then there were none by christie, count of monte christo by dumas, any western he can get his hands on dean HATES: frankenstein by shelley, a good man by o'conner (HATES IT), catcher in the rye by salinger (it makes him angry that he gets called out), lolita by nabokov (it makes him a little nauseous how much he likes it, he agrees that humbert is a pedophile, but the depth of the "devotion" there makes him ill), dense histories like war and peace/tale of two cities/les miserables, etc.; he hates anything by dostoevsky--he finds the morality to be posturing and tiresome
i think they BOTH love the LOTR series--books and movies. as they both canonically watch GOT together as adults (and considering dean is more into LARPing than he likes to admit) i think they both love fantasy.
dean saw two towers while sam was away at college and has been dreaming nonstop of dying in an epic battle protecting those he loves in heroic and sexy ways like in the battle for helms deep.
but he still mostly refuses to watch the parts with frodo/sam in return of the king because "frodo is annoying" (because he gets uncomfortable and scared when frodo and sam touch foreheads and cry and sam picks up frodo because he can't carry the ring but he can carry frodo, and hearing frodo scream sam's name in agony makes him nauseous)
dean swears he likes LOTR for the fights but sam knows better.
(secretly, i think dean used to read chapters of the hobbit to sam when he was really small. it's the first book john buys him after the fire because john grew up with his own dad reading it to him before he disappeared.)
i think as an adult, dean gravitates towards more crime thrillers. they have clean cut endings, and he likes how the main character is usually a grizzled, alcoholic washup looking for redemption with his estranged wife (he completely cannot relate). he also likes brandon sanderson until he finds out Nerds also like them, so he gives up on them.
and i think sam might gravitate towards nonfiction/realistic fiction/historical fiction. he doesn't want to read about quests, he doesn't want to read about chosen ones, he doesn't want to read about brothers having to watch each other die, he doesn't want to read about how Bad is Always Bad.
bonus: they both read 50 shades after the craze in like 2015, and dean was scandalized to read this in a book while sam was like...this is it? he hits her a couple of times??
i've mentioned this a MILLION times, but i think they both love the die hard movie series. mostly the first one, and mostly dean, but they try to catch the marathons on cable every christmas.
dean loves the lost boys (because COME ON OF COURSE HE DOES!!! little brother and vampires and the good guys win! no moral complexity!), ghost busters, roadhouse, quick and fast murder mysteries with easy solutions, dirty dancing, tombstone, rocky, jaws, and--secretly--little women. he cries like a fucking kid being dragged away from a candy store.
sam loves indiana jones, star trek, friday the 13th (bc if he follows the Horror Movie rules, he and his family are safe!), the rear window, ET, it's a wonderful life (a movie about how your life has meaning even if you think you're making everyone's life worse...come on...), and a million arthouse movies about how life is strange and vulnerable.
they both like/watch together: star wars, bill & ted's excellent adventure, die hard, jurassic park, LOTR, the early 2000 fantastic four movies (they're not good, but they're mindless; dean wants to be johnny storm and sammy would DIE to be reed; dean likes to joke that sam's jessica alba instead), oceans 11
sam doesn't like monster movies anymore. dean doesn't like war movies anymore.
THIS WAS SO MUCH LOL I'M SO SORRY--i have a lot of thoughts about their favourite books/movies apparently! thank you so much for this ask--it was SO FUN to answer, lol! <3
i have texted charlotte and will reblog with her opinions when she responds! (she is busy gworl)

About Me
My name is Robin Gurl and I've been in fandoms since the mid 90s and I've been writing fanfiction since 2000. I have SO many fandoms and I hop in between so many at a time.
My name comes from my love of Burt Ward / Dick Grayson / Robin. Iâm a girl and I like Robin. Pretty simple right? đ
my 10 year old self thought so.
Basically any series that has Dick as Robin Iâve watched or attempted to watch.
My main fandoms are the 1966 Batman (Robin), Super Friends, 1977 Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries (Joe), Ronin Warriors (Cye), Real Ghostbusters (Peter Venkman was my favorite since I found it at 3 years old.), and Lord of the Rings (Pippin is my spirit animal and Merry/Pippin gives me life).
But I have so many other fandoms that are near the top as well:
Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler (Sebastian), Voltron 1984 (Sven), Thundercats 1985 (Tygra), and Sailor Moon (Serena, 90s DIC, Also I'm like 99% certain she's the reason my personality is how it is today).
And yet still MORE fandoms: The Beatles (Paul) Gakuen Heaven Kuroko no Basket (look Kagami x Kuroko is to die for) Utapri (Tokiya/Hayato has my heart and always will) Phantom of The Opera (Broadway and LND are my loves. Ben Lewis will forever be my phantom) CATS the Musical (Mistoffelees/Jacob Brent stole my heart at an early age) Pokemon (water trainer here) Slayers Ghost Hunt Lord of the Rings (Pippin is my spirit animal and Merry/Pippin gives me life)
Still more that I'll have to add as I remember them.
I've been watching anime since the 90s and I've been doing my best to keep up. While I have a good handful of series that I watch solely in English because they were ones I grew up on, I usually prefer subbed.
I do not want a remake of certain animes because my heart can't take a new dub. If Ronin Warriors had a remake and they redubbed it, it would seriously send me into a depression spiral.
I am too attached to certain characters and I've come to accept it. I stay out of going too deep into fandoms for that reason. It wasn't until the last 5-7 years I felt comfortable fully opening up to the 66 Batman fandom. Just because I grew up with Bruce and Dick and they were like a second family to me.
I'm really easy going as long as no bullying and overly dramatic drama is going on. I just want to have fun and talk with people. I don't hate people for ships or anything - you do you boo! <3 it's your safe place and as long as people aren't getting physically hurt in RL then its fine.
Angry Important Rants Below. You can get mad and offended all you want but I'm tired of being quiet over this stuff. -shrug-
Cringy Fandom Shit
Yeah I've been there, done that, and more than likely still doing it. I have Mary Sue's/OCs out the wazoo and I'm over being embarrassed by them. I'm 38, if people are THAT bothered by it they can go fuck themselves.
Also news flash to new people in fandom starting from COVID who think they are hot shit - you're not. You're just popular kids who suddenly think it's "cool" to be nerdy and second news flash absolutely NO ONE wants you here.
Either fit in, shut your trap and hang or just leave.
I've spent my life running away from people like you and I'm over it.
Fandom is cringe. It just is. It always has been but everyone is ok with it. We're with people who are just like us and it's our safe space away from Becky and Stacy who think watching Super Heroes and dressing up is "soooooo cringe."
Yes we cosplay as our favorite characters and we will act like them at con. It's part of the fun of cosplaying. Yes people will Naruto Run past you and do DBZ type fights. Pokemon people will pretend battle in the hallways.
IT'S WHAT FANDOM IS.
If you can't comprehend this then go back to your world. Leave ours alone and stop ruining fandom spaces.
Bullying
I hate HATE HATE HATE Bullying and if I catch ANYONE bullying anyone over anything - I'll come over and smack them silly. This stems from my entire childhood of being made fun of for liking Batman. MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS AND LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE.
I also don't do ship hate and story hate, fandom hate, etc. Let people do what they want with their fandom. They aren't physically attacking you, aren't calling you out on anything, they aren't doing nothing but enjoying themselves.
Fandom Purists
Honestly you guys can eat shit and leave fandom spaces. If you're THAT UP TIGHT about a FICTIONAL show and certain couples and tropes and themes - then FUCKING LEAVE.
No space on the internet is forced to make it a safe space for you. It just isn't. If you don't like something, can't comprehend a story arc that is visibly toxic ON PURPOSE, can;'t handle couples, parodies (looking at you new Ouran Fans), get offended by literally everything (and I'm liberal so don't call me MAGA) - ITS YOUR PROBLEM.
Politicially Correct Crap
Yes I support all the normal shit. I don't give a fuck about what pronouns, race or gender you are. As long as you treat everyone with respect, I'll treat you with respect. We're all human.
I'm not going to talk about sensitive subjects related to real world events. it's not my place and I'm not using my safe space to bitch about a lot of things.
It's my choice and thats something you should respect.
DNI
If you see a post that says "DNI if you ___" and do it anyway, you are a jack ass and asking for a fight. When the person comes to interact back and you get all offended, just remember you caused it.
Don't Like / Don't Read
This runs with bullying. If you see something you don't like, fucking scroll past. Don't be that jerkwad that has to make it about them. It's not for you.
Cosplaying isn't an elitist sport
If you can't fathom why someone wouldn't just make their own costume instead of buying it, you need a reality check. Not everyone can sew, not everyone wants to sew, and no one should be required to make their own cosplay.
Fast cosplay is FINE. It's no different than a Halloween Costume. No one is asking you to go the extra mile, no one is forcing you to make your cosplay.
If you do that's cool and I'm impressed. But do NOT attack other cosplayers who are just there to have fun and dress as their favorite characters.
Don't be that mean girl that we've tried so hard to get away from.
And yeah some fast cosplays may win contests. That's just reality. But once again - NO ONE FORCED YOU TO MAKE YOUR OWN. THAT WAS YOUR DECISION. No one asked you to overachieve, no one held a knife to your throat and said 'you can't cosplay unless you make it by hand'. You came up with all of these rules and people don't have to follow them.
That's just reality.
Liking Dubbed Anime
To all of you anime purists who just hate certain dubs of certain animes... you can go to hell.
No I will not be embarrassed to say I prefer the 90s DIC dub. Yes it's not the best but that doesn't make me any less of a Sailor Moon fan. It was all we had growing up and you guys just can't fathom it.
But I refuse to you let you bully me over my preference for Sailor Moon to be called Serena over Usagi.
Stop assuming fans like me haven't been watching it in Japanese or know the true story. WE DO. I own it all in Japanese, I own the manga, I've seen the TV series in both languages. I KNOW the DIC dub isn't perfect and I knew of it's flaws growing up.
That doesn't mean I can't love it with all my heart. We were here first. Stop being toxic Moonies, it's not a good look. Once again another fandom over run by mean girl purists.
A fandom can exist with both. Thankfully the Ronin Warrior/Samurai Trooper fandom has calmed down and now both exist peacefully (that I've seen at least) together.
Don't get me started on the early 2000s RW fandom.
The YST fans thought they were hot shit but there wasn't a way to get ahold of the Japanese version of the series and if there was - they never shared it. So like 10% of the fandom acted like they were better than everyone else because they knew their Japanese names and treated people like crap because of it.
I didn't even have the ability to OWN the japanese version with correct subtitles until the mid 2000s. I remember the first set of YST DVDs, the subs were hilariously awful and I knew enough Japanese to be like "...they didn't just say that" XD.
The blue rays came out and we FINALLY got proper subs.
The Sailor Moon fandom is turning into that more and more each day.
Take a page from the RW fandom and chill out.
You can't and shouldn't police what version of a show to watch. This goes for the precure fans losing their shit over Glitter Force. It's a gate way anime for young kids. Let them watch it without bullying and nicely teach them about the real series.

Thanks @grapehyasynth for the tag, I love seeing your posts on my dashboard. :) here are my super six!
Last Song: Man on the Moon Alan Walker and Benjamin Ingrosso
Last Show: GĂĽsmamman. It's genuinely very good. So unhinged, but good. No spoilers please. Unless you mean concert in which case that was Harry Styles in 2018.
Currently Watching: GĂĽsmamman, Fejk and Sex Education (we'll see if I ever make it through the last one)
Currently reading:Â

Current obsession: Young Royals, my beloved
Unrelated Obsession: I'm currently not on this obsession but a hobby/interest I have is vintage and antique mystery books esp. The Nancy Drew series. A couple times a year I'll get obsessed with it again and find myself buying a ton of books I never catalog. I found some Vickie Barr Air Stewardess mysteries late 40s early 50s edition last year and this super awesome Hardy boys style Scottish book from the 30s and let me tell you I was nerding out.Â

I like the idea of each individual in the gang being a different form of âthat weird mystery kidâ. Sure theyâd still be best friends even if they never solve another mystery, but this common factor is part of what made them hit it off.
Fredâs parents couldnât afford to replace items if they went missing, so he got really good at finding stuff at a young age, which led to a lot of make believe play to fill the time when his parents werenât home, combined with Boy Scout skills heâd spend hours âsolving mysteriesâ in the forest, like finding whoâs stealing from Mr Squirrelâs stash of nuts, and trapping the bastard in a cage made of sticks.
Daphneâs secret pleasure was reading mystery novels like Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christy, in between all of the activities her parents signed her up for. They didnât think it was appropriate for a nice young girl to read such things so she got good at hiding it, and wasnât very vocal about her interest with the rest of the gang, even if she was jumping up and down in her head when she got involved.
Velma was not actually into mysteries before she met the gang, she was just super into science and history, but as soon as she got pulled in she became obsessed and was more vocal about her interest, overshadowing the others in terms of reputation.
Shaggy once played a detective in a school play and the reputation sort of stuck. The others didnât register his protests at first, and by the time they did Shaggy realized he was having a good time, especially since it gave him the opportunity to do some improv.

Halloween/Fall Season TBR 2023
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to write down my TBR for the fall/Halloween season and mention some of the new books that are coming out this year. These titles are the ones I read every year and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a scary book to read (or really any murder mysteries, it feels like this is the prefect season to read Murder Mysteries).
~Books that are on my TBR~ : (Pretty much I recommend everything on this list)
Coraline by Neil Gailman
Halloween Tree by Ray Bardbury
Pumpkin Heads
Nancy Drew (This and the next few are perfect for the cozy weather)
Judy Bolton
Dana Sisters
Connie Blair
Hardy Boys
Scary Godmother
Edgar Allen Poe
The Invisible man
Nightmare Before Christmas Long Live the Pumpkin Queen
Bunnicula
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly
Garlic and the Vampire
Garlic and the Witch
Halloween Party by Agatha Christie (first time I am going to read this)
Sherlock Holmes
Then there was none by Agatha Christie
Addams family
Goosebumps books
Mirror Lake By Juneau Black
The House of Lost Horizon Sarah Jewell mystery
Sleepy Hallow by Washington Irving
Harry Potter (I also read these around Xmas time too)
~OP Books I recommend~
The Shady Hallow mysteries. I love this series and it feels like you can read this series no matter what time of year but the big ones that I recommend from this series are Cold Clay & Mirror Lake.
I love Mirror Lake the most out of the series and the description of food and the autumn ambience is wonderful.
~Soon to release books (I hope)~ :
DeepHaven by Ethan M. Aldridge- I saw the artwork that this author has been posting and I thought it was gorgeous. I did some digging but did not really want to spoil it too much for myself. I am getting very Eldritch horror vibes from the artwork.
Unfamiliar vol 2 by Haley Newsome- I am in love with this series, it has magic it has witches it has food. What more could I ask for.
Twilight Falls by Juneau Black- This is one of my highly anticipated books that are coming out this year. I love the Shady Hollow Mysteries series, this come out after November, but I am still super hype for it.
Tim Burtonâs Nightmare before Christmas the Battle for Pumpkin King by Dan Conner- I have been collecting anything really Nightmare for a few a years now and when I saw this I freaked, I canât wait for it.
Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree- I loved Legends & Lattes and when I found it there was going to be a 2nd book, I was thrilled I canât wait for it.
Catch me If you Candy by Ellie Alexander- Recently I have been wanting to get more cozy mysteries and this series is like one of the biggest series I have seen. I am hoping to start collecting the series soon.
~New Books~ :
Most of these books are going to be Cozy Mysteries. I love Mysteries and Cozy Mysteries are right in my alley. First of all, I will not spoil mysteries for anyone if I can help it, so I will keep description vague. Most of these books are new to me and I am keeping myself blind incept for like the over storyline. (These are not new releases they are just new to me)
Fatal Fudge Swirl by Meri Allen- this is the third book in the Ice Cream Shop Mysteries books, I am trying to collect the others and read them in order. So, this mystery takes place around Halloween and there is a wedding, and tragedy strikes at the wedding.
Murder at the Pumpkin Pageant by Darci Hannah- this is another cozy that takes place around time Halloween time. Halloween time is here, and our MC Lindsey is not really jazzed about it, because she lives in the town spooky haunted lighthouse, so teenagers make it a test of courage to come up and scare each other silly. However, this year her best friend asked to do a spooky episode for her social media what was supposed to be a night of ghost hunting and fun scares turns sinister.
One Poison Pie by Lynn Cahoon- Now this one doesnât take place on around Halloween (as far from what I know I havenât not read this book yet, so I fix this later if I am wrong) but itâs having to do with witches and whatâs better she is an amateur detective kitchen witch. Mia is our main character and right now she has hit a rough patch in her life when boyfriend has left her greener pastures and she is now jobless. So, she heads back home to her grandmaâs house. Itâs the first book in this series so I donât know too much about it.
A Batter of Life and Death by Ellie Alexander- the only thing I know is that this book takes place in fall and I just starting to get into the Bakeshop Mystery series. So, I am keeping my self-blind and I canât wait to read it.
No Parm No Foul by Linda Reilly- this is the second book in the grilled cheese shop mystery, and it takes place around Halloween. I read the first book and I like it, so I want to try to get the second to see how it is.

What are you reading right now?
I'm doing what I call "Kant girl summer" where I read 4 pages of Critique of Pure Reason every day.
I'm also reading Alcoholics Anonymous, Close Range, Isaac Newton by James Gleick, and Let the Great World Spin.
I always try to have at least one silly just for fun book to maintain my love of reading. These days, it's The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Super Mysteries: Shock Waves

Frank and Nancy. đđ
Jess!! I got such a kick out of seeing your name here!
Anyways, you know I love Frank and Nancy. Have been ever since i was a tiny thing reading the Nancy Drew Hardy Boys Super Mystery series and wondering why Nancy was with boring Ned and Frank was with Calle(Callie?) when they OBVIOUSLY belonged together. My twelve year-old romance radar was off the charts because it was only when I got to adulthood and re-read a few titles that I felt vindicated with their chemistry. Nancy/Frank all the way!
(the only exception to this rule is for Nancy/Ace from the CW's Nancy Drew because that show is like a supernatural horror spin-off, there are no Hardy Boys in that universe (YET) and Ace and Nancy are clearly made for each other. But other than that, Nancy/Frank 4ever, end of story)
Send me a ship and Iâll give you my (brutally) honest opinion on it
