final fantasy 7 moment who else cheered

no one asked for this but tis the season so here's some avalanche holiday party hcs!

- the kitchen is chaos - tifa and cid are both yelling, there are recipe pages taped to every cabinet and neither of them know which is which, cloud was roped in as extra help but was too much of a hazard and relegated to dishes, cid's burned his hand three separate times, there isn't a single clean bowl anywhere in the building, no one knows where the pie crusts went, and there's flour on the ceiling. somehow everything is still working and food is coming out

- aerith, barret, and cait sith are playing poker at the table. cait sith knows how to play but keeps lying about the rules to try to mess everyone else up, aerith knows how to play dirty and is incredibly excited to do so, barret has never lost this much money in his life

- vincent is knocked out on the couch, and has been for several hours. marlene keeps calling cloud out of the kitchen to help her stack presents on him, enough so that he's been kicked out and the two of them are now beyond invested in vincent present balancing. he wakes up in the middle of it but pretends to still be asleep

- reeve is three hours late and shows up covered in snow, but someone called to ask him to bring a pie somewhere around the time the pie crusts went missing so he's holding four, all of which he stole from the shinra holiday party

-within a few minutes of him walking in, reeve is asleep next to vincent and the new subject of the present stacking

- yuffie, cait sith, nanaki (does anyone call him nanaki over red xiii? i havent been on ff7 tumblr for very long and never see anyone talk about him but i call him nanaki), and cid end up in a very loud argument about where jellyfish and hedgehogs are on a scale of round vs pointy animals (they've come to a consensus that hedgehogs are both round AND pointy, but cait sith keeps restarting the argument for jellyfish to be considered pointy because they sting)

- sometime before dinner is ready, aerith drags cloud outside to see the snow and they end up in a snowball fight that they start calling reinforcements out for (and delaying dinner) - aerith, nanaki, yuffie, cid, and tifa form a team and cloud, vincent, reeve, barret, and cait sith form a team. all out war ensues. no one wins, and everyone comes back in soaked

- dinner is the only part that goes. somewhat. smoothly, assigned seats are nonexistent but no one ends up fighting over seats, only over what pies ended up near them

- at the end, no one goes home, the living room is full of blankets and space heaters and whispered conversations that everyone can hear, but everyone slowly falls asleep anyways

Hunger Games: Final Fantasy VII Edition
