⊹˚₊ zoro being in love with you ₊˚⊹
— roronoa zoro, a former pirate hunter turned pirate, is a very reserved guy.
— when he meets you, he starts to open up more, smile more and laugh more.
— whenever sanji flirts with you, he becomes jealous and possessive. he glares at him from afar all the while yearning for you. he yearns for your attention to be directed at only him, no other man.
— then he realizes he has feelings for you. romantic feelings, as a matter o’ fact.
— but it is difficult for him to admit his feelings. he is very new to the concept of love and doesn’t know what to do, unlike sanji.
— zoro is 100% sure he is better than sanji in all aspects, but he isn’t confident when it comes picking up women, which sanji is a pro at.
— no way in hell will he ever ask the perverted love cook for advice, so he asks nami instead.
— according to nami, women like compliments, flowers, gifts, a candle lit dinner with a beautiful setting, basically all the typical romantic gestures.
— with that, zoro begins to court you.
— and he does exactly what nami told him.
— day 1: he randomly compliments you on your looks and whatever you do.
— day 2: he gives you flowers. not a big fancy bouquet of roses, but a few flowers he plucked from a forest tied together with a string.
— day 3: he buys you something with what money he has from logue town and gives it to you as a gift.
— day 4: he prepares a secret candle lit dinner for you with food he cooked himself as your dinner and the beautiful setting being the deck of the going merry, overlooking the ocean. the ship almost catches on fire due to the candle accidentally falling on top of spilt alcohol.
— you appreciated the thought and effort he put into the whole thing, even though the ship almost burnt to a crisp.
— on the 5th day, he finally confesses.
— and you also confess. in truth, you have had feelings for him as well, so it isn’t one-sided.
— hearing your confession, zoro is surprised, to say the least.
— nevertheless, he is glad you return his feelings. zoro doesn’t believe in god, but he thanks god for it.
— he presses his lips onto yours and kisses you.
— everyone catches sight of you and zoro kissing. you can hear nami and ussop cheering for you, luffy’s asexual ass being confused as ever and sanji fuming.
— after he kisses you, he gives you a toothy smile. a smile that you adore.
— you smile back, happy and content.

I changed my mind about the headcanon of Zoro kissing Sanji right after defeating Mihawk and becoming the world's greatest swordsman. No, I have one better. Zoro yes defeating Mihawk and getting the title BUT instead of... you know, kissing Sanji, he full blown proposes.
"Cook!"
"What?!"
"Marry me!"
"... excuse me WHAT?"
"I said marry me!"
"What the fuck are you on, mosshead! Did Mihawk hit your head too hard or something?"
"I'm serious, cook! I am the best in the world, you can't not marry me."
"How... how does that have to do with anything... THIS IS NOT HOW YOU PROPOSE TO SOMEONE YOU DUMBASS."
All of this with Zoro completely dripping in blood and Sanji screaming his heart out while everyone just watches completely dumbfounded.
"WHAT? DID YOU WANT FLOWERS OR SOMETHING?"
"WELL A LITTLE EFFORT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE YES. DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WOOING YOU BRUTE-"
Usopp is the only one who dares to speak: "Is he... is he considering it... they are not even together..."
#he ends up saying yes btw#for obvious reasons#the crew is beyond itself but they are happy for them#nami is just there collecting the fruits of the bet everyone had going on#zosan#zoro x sanji#black leg sanji#roronoa zoro#one piece#one piece fanfiction#one piece headcanons

I Don't Want to Move On (Sanji x Reader)
_____ Pairing: Sanji x Female Reader Summary: When Sanji leaves you to marry Pudding, he shuts you out, and you don't know how to forgive him when he returns. Warnings: SPOILERS for Wholecake Island Arc, Angst to Fluff A/N: (h/c) = your hair colour [One Piece Masterlist] _____
You stop and look up, the quiet of the space between you and him bringing forth an awkwardness you were not used to. You were on the Sunny, in the doorway of the kitchen and your boyfriend was facing you with deep remorse reflecting his eyes. Or was he your ex now? You didn't know; you didn't even want to think anymore.
He had left you for her. He had hurt you. And no matter if his reasoning was credible, in the end, he had shut you out and left you to pick up the pieces. You know now that Sanji's family - if he could even call them family - were nothing of the affectionate and caring sort. No, they were emotionless and unkind, arrogant and vain; nothing like the man you loved.
You know that this whole scenario probably brought more agony to Sanji than it did to anybody else. But it didn't change the fact that you didn't know how to face him anymore, or how to talk to him. The words he spoke to you when you had finally caught up to him were raging in the back of your mind. Words that though perhaps false in that moment, still brought pain to ever hear from his lips.
"It was all an act... I could never love a low-life like you."
Was it really? Was it really all an act?
Then what were the nights spent buried in his arms, warm and safe and adored? What were the days spent laughing in the kitchen, the generous caresses and murmured words of devotion? What were the quiet moments spent together, where you thought you needed nothing more than him and his love? What were all the promises and bold whispers?
How many times have you heard him say "I love you" and how many times have you returned the sentiment? Hundreds and thousands of kisses were exchanged and a million times your hands held his. So many times, he pledged his loyalty, looked only to you, caressed only you. How many times had you seen that spark of joy and light reach his eyes, because they reflected the tenderness in yours?
Was that all an act too?
Now you found yourself avoiding him, and his faint calls of your name. You and your crew may have escaped Big Mom, and your friends may have found forgiveness for Sanji's actions. But you didn't know if you could do the same so easily. How could you when his words were spat like fire to your heart? How could you when he left you to marry another woman?
How could you when he shut you out so easily?
"Lov-" Sanji freezes, cold sweat on his face as he looks at you. He had never seen you look to him so devoid of the emotions he was so used to seeing. "[y/n]..." his words are a murmur, hesitant and ashamed. You fight the tears that want to travel down your face at the sight of him. He seemed lost, even when he had retaken his solace back on the Sunny and Luffy's crew. He looked pale and worried and regretful. But was that all an act too?
"Please, can we talk?"
Your heart tugs low at his words.
"I- I don't know, Sanji." His eyes spark just for a moment at the sound of your voice directed at him, after days on the sea without even an utterance. "You hurt me, you left me, I-" You swallow harshly as you watch the way his brows furrow in what seems like genuine pain. "I don't know how to move on from that."
You turn away swiftly, trying to get out of the doorway and out of his presence but Sanji is quick to his senses. He reacts desperately, holding your arm in his hand, causing your movements to halt. You look up at him, the tears now rolling down your face mirroring the ones brimming in his eyes.
"Please love, I don't want to move on from you..."
.....
When you arrived at Zou along with Luffy's group after the exhausting events at Dressora, you never thought you would find your boyfriend missing. Never did you dream.
And yet that was your reality.
Nami had rushed to you alongside Chopper, her bright facade faltering once she saw you and her Captain. She had flung herself into Luffy's arms, but her tearful eyes looked only to you.
"I'm sorry...Sanji's..."
Her words and actions already caused the rhythm of your heart to stutter but when she showed you the letter you felt it slip from your chest.
'I've gotta go see a woman. I'll be back.'
The words on the blank sheet of paper were plain and simple. He would be back. But who was this woman, and why was she of such importance he leaves without a trace or word to you?
It is Luffy who breaks the silence.
"Does, 'gotta go see a woman' mean... he's gonna get married?"
Your heart tugs fiercer at your Captain's words, and Nami is quick to strike his head in vexation. "Luffy!" She scolds, before offering a hand to your shoulder in comfort. "That's not necessarily the case..." You look up, and Nami avoids your gaze in regret, you know that there is something else she wants to say. "... but it seemed like he was determined."
"But he's with [y/n]! That's not allowed!"
Nami chastises Luffy again for his insensitivity but you quickly cut her off. "Nami," she looks at you in surprise at the calmness of your voice. "It's fine. He said he'll be back, didn't he?" She nods hesitantly at your words as your crew looks at you in concern.
"Then, he'll be back."
Your friends all stare, unsure of what to say, but as Brook speaks up, you feel your hopes wither slightly. "But, [y/n]-san, the bride is the Emperor's daughter. Of course, Sanji refused the marriage immediately. But that's what troubles me." The apprehension inside of you churns more and more. "It won't be easy to decline such an invitation. What do you think Sanji would do in a situation where he cannot escape the marriage?"
You think of your boyfriend. He was kind, generous and caring. But you had seen instances of him with traces of sadness in his gaze, only for him to brush you off when you asked if something was wrong. He never really knew how to accept the love that you so willingly offered him, and only time made him better at it. But this: this marriage with the daughter of an emperor too powerful for you to even fathom to defeat. You knew the answer to Brook's question quicker than Chopper had replied.
"He's the kind of guy who'll try not to cause us any trouble so he'd try to separate himself from us."
Nami nods slowly, and the ache in your chest builds the franticity within you. "When he tossed us outside, he could've gotten away too. When he wrote the note, I think he'd already made up his mind to go by himself." She meets your regard and you see the discomfort in her irises. She can see your concern, but it soon turns into a fierce resolve.
You had to at least try to get him to open up to you; to talk to you.
You would do anything for Sanji. You had to go see him and stop him. Surely, he was not doing this of his own free will, surely there were layers to this marriage and he obviously had his reasons why he must concede to them. So, when Luffy had shouted that he would go meet with Sanji and talk to him, you had agreed instantly despite the anxious murmurs of the crew.
"You're facing an emperor!"
Their concerns were valid but your worry for your boyfriend was more significant. He would never hurt you, or that's what you thought when you had joined Luffy, Nami, Brook and Chopper on your journey to Whole Cake Island. Surely he would open up to you as you had done to him so many times before. Surely he would come to his senses the moment he laid eyes on you. You could not fathom anything otherwise.
How wrong you were.
.....
When Sanji saw you, Luffy and Nami, for a moment his heart was overcome with hope, but it diverted immediately to utter fear and despair. His heart rate raged against his chest and in the presence of his brothers and father, his trepidation only grew.
Why were you here? Why were you here where he could not protect you?
When Luffy had flung himself onto his carriage with his wide smile and optimistic words, his mind could only pitch what was on the line. His hands were set to detonate if he even desired to leave, those on the Baratie were in jeopardy and you; the crew. He could not let you live a life under the rein of an emperor he knew would show little mercy.
He loved you; God did he love you.
But you just couldn't be here.
When Sanji had kicked Luffy from the carriage, you had watched, heart in your throat and completely stunned. You could hear Nami shouting at Sanji, "Hey! What are you doing Sanji-kun!" But when Sanji met eyes with you, he knew the only way to get you to leave; the only way to protect you was with words that would make you despise him.
"Get packing, you low-class pirates!"
You are voiceless at the way his eyes could contort to a way that shone with such disdain.
"My name is Vinsmoke Sanji. I'm a prince of the Germa Kingdom! I'm sorry for keeping it a secret. I thought that it'd make you miserable. The difference between our standings couldn't be clearer. If I stay here, I can spend money and use soldiers and servants as I like. Going back to that crappy ship with you... or staying here, marrying Big Mom's beautiful daughter."
Your heart falters as you hear the words slip his lips.
"It's pretty obvious which is a happier life. Don't take the note seriously. I won't go back with you! I can't believe you've come all the way here."
There is a silence that lingers on your behalf, and the way Sanji looks to you - to all of you - makes you want to wither and perish. You can hear Luffy shouting to Sanji in complete denial of his words, anger morphing on his face. Sanji approaches slowly as Luffy refuses to go away, and even as he leaves the carriage his expression does nothing to falter.
"I don't know what made you come, but I appreciate that you took the trouble. Having said that, if you really think about me, you should've done the opposite. Rather than being with you guys who are poor and weak, it'd be better to be part of the rich and powerful Big Mom Pirates. I'll be happier-"
"SHUT UP!"
Your words reach the air, interrupting your boyfriend's words before you can stop yourself. Sanji's heart lurches at your anger-tainted words, and yet he finds himself silently begging that you would leave quietly. However, you are too hurt to answer his prayers. You rush forward, past Luffy and Nami who calls your name hesitantly. You move until you're in front of Sanji, hands balled into fists by your side.
"Shut up! You can't mean that! Sanji-" Your words start to wilt the more you see his unbending stare remain on you, piercing and urging you to hate him, but you wouldn't. "How can you say that, Sanji? I know you; I know this can't be what you want. Just tell me the truth, we won't run, we'll fight whatever it is that you are fighting. You don't have to protect me from anything... I just want to be with you. Please Sanji, I love you, I know you love me too-"
"You actually believe that?"
You freeze when Sanji speaks to you, eyes unwavering, shaded expression, persuasive words. "What? Sanji stop, what are you-" But when you look up he is looking at you in a way you could not fathom to be true. Such contempt and hostility, and a hint of mockery. "You actually think, I care about you? That I want to protect you?" You shake your head slowly as aversion starts to build up within you.
"You're a liability, [y/n]."
"I was bored and miserable with you. The emperor is giving me a chance with her daughter, a woman who could actually make me happy. Who are you to deny me that?" You grit your teeth, anger taking hold of you, as you step forward and grasp the collar of his shirt in your hold. Sanji's eyes flicker with a moment's surprise before returning to the deadpan stare that you begin to despise.
"You're lying," you say, but Sanji does not falter. Your tears start to pour down your face as you look at your boyfriend devoid of his love. "Come back to the Sunny with us, Sanji. Let me in Sanji. Where's the man I fell in love with?" Sanji doesn't think that he loathed himself more than he did the moment he stared back at you, desperately trying to keep his own tears at bay. How could this be the way he says goodbye to the love of his life?
"It was all an act. Of course, I could never love a low-life like you."
At his words, you think you feel something break deep within you. Your hold goes limp on his collar and your eyes are wide in shock. Tears pour down your face, but suddenly you feel numb and you think you can actually hear your heart break. You hear Luffy's rage from behind you along with Nami's shouts of outrage. You can hear the muffled laughter of Sanji’s brothers beyond the carriage at your crestfallen expression.
Nami drags you back to her. Sanji fights Luffy so that he would make him leave too. But you feel so hollow you hardly even register the events that take place around you. When Luffy falls limp to the ground you still look numbly to the man in front of you.
Nami's slap was sharp against Sanji's cheek, but what twisted his insides more was the fact that you did nothing. Instead, you looked at him with the most barren expression he had ever seen from you. An expression he fought to keep from touching your face was placed in front of him because of him. Sanji almost broke, but he could say nothing. "Goodbye. Sorry- we should've never done this." Nami's words are harrowing to his ears, but again he could say nothing. She instantly went to your side uttering comforts but he no longer saw your face.
In his mind, he screamed at you to stay. He screamed that he wanted to be with you for eternity. That he loved you like nothing else in this world. He never wanted to leave you, he never wanted to marry anyone but you. The days spent chasing women were left behind in the past like specs of dust. You were all that had encompassed him. You were all that made him feel worthy of love and life and warmth.
His shock when he learnt that you, actually felt the same was like the feeling of his heart retching free and soaring through the sky. He never thought a day would come when a woman he loved as much as he loved you, could return that same devotion. He was in heaven. Every day with you was heaven. He never even dreamt that a goodbye would come, because he would rather perish than let it become reality.
He had made his worst nightmare come true.
All because he couldn't let you in. He couldn't hurt you. He wouldn't let the burdens on his back be the burden on yours. He doesn't want to cause you misery because of a choice he made or a past that he runs from. You were his angel, and he felt as though reaching out would taint your heart and your outlook on him.
And so, he left.
His brothers laughed and shouted absurdities, but he didn't look back.
"Damn Sanji, you sure had some tasteful women on your crew."
"Yeah call back the chick with the [h/c] hair! If you don't want her I might entertain her for a night or-"
"Shut up!"
Such fury fills him at his brother's words that he loathed their beings almost as much as he loathed himself.
Luffy's words that he would stay unmoving until his return echo through the distance placed between you both, and that is when he lets his tears slip. But his tears aren't for his Captain, they're for you. You and the life he thought he was so blessed to share with you. He had thought so stupidly that maybe all the turmoil he had faced in his early life was because you would be waiting in the future, and be a hundred times worth the despair he had felt.
But of course, it would all be stripped away. You wouldn't forgive him. He wouldn't forgive himself. He would have to live with the fact that the love of his life was gone for good, and along with you, any ounce of love he felt in his heart.
.....
"Stop Dreaming! Will I Marry that low life? No way!"
"That idiot played right into my hands. And fell for me."
Isn't it funny, how you don't realise the damage your words can do until they are thrown back at you?
Was this how you felt when he had thrown your love away?
No, it must've been worse because these were the words of a woman he couldn't love, but you; he had loved you and you had loved him. The words from his fiancé sounded shrill and sharp against his ears, but he could not even compare how he would've felt if those words were from you.
Sanji felt the energy leave him as suddenly as his hopes to move on from you and the crew had come. What was wrong with him? Leant heavily on a wall he listens as this woman berates him for his stupidity. But he deserved it. That's what he thought.
He had left the days of chasing women long ago, but he found himself forcing himself back into the rhythm just to push the thoughts of you from his head.
Yes, I'll cook for pudding-chan.
Yes, I'll just revert to Sanji. The Sanji who loves women.
Yes, I'll forget, I'll move on.
But the dish he made for Pudding was the abundance of favourite foods of his crew. The one in larger quantity was yours. '[y/n]...' Sanji retched himself free of your image for only a moment but his heart jolted laboriously against his chest. He missed you. But then, he'd remember the flash of your downcast eyes shining in utter despondency and in the absence of the love he usually saw in them.
He didn't deserve you.
But when he hears Pudding's words mock him of his love and being. He did nothing but miss you. Miss your kind words and gentle touch. Miss your honest love and your silent comforts. Miss your joy and laughter and the glimmer in your eyes when he cooked something for you.
Fuck, he missed you.
Sanji crumbles, flowers lost from his grip and food long forgotten. He reaches for a cigarette; he was on his last few having gone through them like nothing these past few days. But as he reaches the lighter and flicks and flicks and flicks again, there is no light. When finally, a glimmer of hope prevails and he sees his cigarette catch fire, it is out in an instant by the pouring rain.
The vision of your smiling face is lost along with it.
One tear slips past his face, followed by another. His heartache was almost unbearable as he felt himself move away. Anywhere was better than listening to the words of the woman he was betrothed to. But the place he wanted to be in most was the embrace of the woman he loved.
.....
Now you are standing there, in his grasp and in front of him, but your eyes were filled with a pain he feared he couldn't ever undo.
"Please love, I don't want to move on from you..."
Your eyes meet his and he sees an emotion he had never seen in your gaze: hesitation. You were usually so sure with him, so usually knowing that he was your safe space and your comfort and all you could need. Sanji hates that he had stripped that all away.
You begin to speak but he is quick to cut off your sparing words.
"Sanji-"
"I never loved her."
Your eyes shoot open as his words tumble like boulders from his mouth.
"I- I only love you. Those words I said to you, I didn't mean a single thing. I don't hate you, I wasn't miserable with you, I was the happiest I had ever been and I was stupid to give it up so quickly. I was a coward. I-"
A tear slips lonely down your cheek, but you are surprised when you feel slight anger ignite in your system rather than resistance.
"That's what you think I'm angry about Sanji?"
The man in front of you freezes mid-sentence, his anxious eyes giving way to utter confusion.
“I-“
"That's what you think hurt me?"
You let out a soft, emotionless laugh as you look to the ceiling and back to him, eyebrows furrowed in frustration.
"I wanted you to let me in, I wanted you to let me help you. I told you not to protect me, I told you to let me fight with you but you didn't."
There is a silence that unveils the sentiment of truth in your pain. Your own boyfriend had left you with bitter words, but what had torn your heart to shreds was the fact that you thought he did not trust you to carry his burdens as he did yours. You thought that a relationship with him would concur to you being his person as much as he was yours and yet he had shut you out and walked away.
"You pushed me away."
Your last words to him are quiet, and the pain exceeds what you can hold back so tears start to cascade quickly down your face.
"Sanji-"
He moves before you even have the chance to continue, your broken words causing his own chest to squeeze painfully. He pulls you close to him and in an instant, you are engulfed in his arms and your senses are filled with his familiar scent and warmth. You tremble slightly as you push your face deeper into his chest, and his face buries itself into your skin.
Sanji feels his heart contort painfully as it goes from warmth to agony.
How can a woman such as you exist?
Your kindness he didn't deserve? Your love and consideration he had hid himself from? Your devotion to him? All this time he had thought the words he spoke to you were what caused the distance between the two of you. But you were hurting because he had not trusted that you would accept him and comfort him and carry his hardships as yours.
"I'm so sorry love. I- I just didn't want you to know. I didn't want you to see how pathetic I was in my earlier life. I didn't want you to see me differently. I didn't want to burden you or cause you hurt."
Your tears start to slow and your heart rate steadies as you find solace in the chasms of his arms. "I know that I just-" Your words stumble into your soft cries.
"I just wanted to help you."
When Sanji pulls away and looks into your eyes, he finds in them a glimmer of hope. Could he dare to ask for your forgiveness? When he moves next it is out of all the love he has for you in his heart, all of his regret and sorrow and devotion. His breath is hot against your lips before they connect, deep and soft and passionate. He brings your form closer to him, his touch like fire on your skin.
You finally respond.
A hand carves its way into the depths of his blond hair as you pull him impossibly closer. You move desperately against him and pour all the fondness and misery you held onto into the kiss. It lasted for long moments, the pressing of your mouth to his, the warmth and the love. When you pulled apart his head rested on yours, his affection still lingering on your skin. Your breaths were uneven.
"My love, forgive me."
When his gaze meets yours, it is filled with his pure, honest intention. Yes, the division cast between you may take more than a kiss to heal. Yes, the trust shared between you may have to be built from a hundred conversations and reassurances. But the love that the both of you had was true, and you knew that neither one of you would be moving on from the other. So, you smile tenderly and sadly at him as you tug his face to yours and connect your lips softly and deliberately.
In your mind was one thought.
You'll both be just fine.

⸻ THE PRINCE(SS) & THE PROTECTOR
pairing: zoro x reader
word count: 3.5k
synopsis: being in love with zoro is not for the weak, especially when such a love is unrequited. so it is all the more confusing when a certain pirate refuses to let you go when you decide to give your heart a break and leave the crew for good.
note: i really need to stop writing zoro fics with an arranged marriage and bodyguard/protector type premise. with that being said… enjoy xoxo
(also yes this is part ONE)
+ + + + + + + + + + + +
Thunderstorms are the perfect weather conditions for silent rumination. You isolate yourself in a corner of the ship, eyes closed as rainwater glides down your face in cool streams. With a smile, you breathe in the scent of salt and earth that mingles with the southern winds.
The crew is below deck, sheltered from the downpour and crackling lightning that splits the skies every so often. They’re all asleep and have been for a while now. You are the outlier. The strange one that decided to sit between a storm and the sea during the devil’s hours. Funnels of black clouds swirl angrily above you as it continues to pour. Your clothes, hair, everything is drenched. Soaked down to the very bones—some particularly weary ones.
You relish the feeling of the water against your skin for another moment, reviving yourself from the bleak reflections plaguing your mind. By the time you make it inside, a decision was made.
The next morning, faint sunlight filtered by sparse clouds light up the horizon in hues of soft orange and calm yellow. The water is still. Steady. Almost as if it had forgotten its role as a tempest’s plaything mere hours ago. It’s early. Much too early for most of the crew to be awake, but you can hear a faint tinkering from Usopp’s room and the steady footsteps of another member coming up the stairs to the upper deck.
A familiar silhouette appears in your vision.
“Morning, Robin,” you say.
The archaeologist comes to stand next to you and nods. “Good morning. You’re up early.”
“Had a lot on my mind. Doesn’t leave much room for sleep,” you point out.
“Did you get any?”
“Some.”
She raises a brow, unconvinced.
“About an hour's worth,” you shrug.
An arm sprouts up from the railing you’re leaning on. It holds out a mug of steaming coffee. You take the cup gratefully. The smooth liquid warms you up in the crisp autumn air. Robin takes a sip of her own drink before responding.
“What’s the verdict?” She asks.
“I’ve decided to go.”
She sighs. “That’s it then. I understand there’s no point in trying to change your mind?”
You shake your head sadly. The past few weeks of turmoil and trepidation cemented that certainty. You can’t stay. Not when the fate of a nation falls on your shoulders… and certainly not with feelings as forbidden as the ones you harbour.
“Is it because of him?”
“No. No,” you emphasize at Robin's doubtful expression.
“Don’t lie,” she chides.
You grimace. “Well, not entirely because of him.”
Robin scans the calm horizon with watchful eyes, a storm of thoughts whirling into action behind that piercing gaze of hers. The archaeologist has always been the most logical out of the crew, favouring rationality over emotion. It is the trait you admire most about Robin and the reason why you sought her counsel specifically, choosing to confide in her—and only her—about the decision you faced.
“He deserves to know,” she says softly.
You stiffen, the mere thought making your throat tighten up with anxiety. You shake your head, effectively ending the conversation. At the perfect time too, as one by one the rest of the crew pad up the stairs, ready to start the day.
Luffy first, bounding up the steps with a large grin. Nami follows, then everyone trickles through the doors. Zoro is last.
The swordsman yawns and stretches his arms behind his head, taut muscles glistening under the morning sun. He opens one eye, peeking at you from under sleepy lids. Your heart clenches at the lazy smile he greets you with.
This is going to be difficult.
“Mornin’,” Zoro mumbles, stifling another yawn behind his fist.
The rest of the crew bustles about, running around the deck in preparation for the day ahead. You hear Luffy’s excited laugh somewhere in the background followed by familiar shouts of concern and beratement from Nami, Sanji and Usopp, each taking turns to scold the captain’s latest—and no doubt foolish—idea. Whatever it may be.
The noise and chaos fades away the moment Zoro walks up to you, his warmth surrounding you despite the cold morning temperature. It makes it near impossible for you to focus on much else. Anything else.
“Hey,” you say.
He frowns, eyes scanning your face. You resist the urge to touch it, anxious. Was there something on your face? A pimple? An eyelash?
“What? What is it?” You ask, nerves alight.
“Did you stay up late?”
You blink, caught off guard. Did you really look that tired?
“Yes,” you answer plainly. There’s no point in trying to hide it from him. “I couldn’t sleep.”
Zoro arches a brow. “Why not?” Concern laces the question. You almost crumble, seconds away from confessing the truth you’ve been hiding for weeks, when someone barrels into Zoro, knocking him over and effectively ending your conversation.
Luffy, unfazed, pops up onto his feet and dusts himself off, his signature toothy smile never having left his face. Despite his right-hand man groaning on the ground next to him, Luffy seems as chipper as ever.
“Sorry, Zoro!” He apologizes, not sounding very sorry at all.
“I… hate… you…” Zoro grunts, still recovering from having the wind knocked out of him.
Luffy only laughs it off and runs back to the rest of the crew, chattering about some new adventure that is bound to be more effort than it is worth.
“You okay?” You press your lips together in an attempt to stifle a laugh.
Zoro takes the hand you offer, warm palm wrapping around your own. You can feel rough calluses against your skin—a testament to his training. You pull him up and watch him steady himself. He doesn’t let go of your hand. Nervous, you break contact first.
He shoots you a puzzled look, but decides against commenting on it.
“I will be once I knock him upside the head.”
“Let’s not give the poor boy brain damage.”
Zoro snorts. “You mean more than he already has?”
You laugh, the sound almost entirely concealed by a burst of raucous shouts coming from the other side of the deck. Curious, you begin walking over to the crew. Zoro follows suit with his hands in his pockets. As the two of you make your way across the ship’s expanse, the sight of Nami and Luffy arguing comes into view. The others stand off to the side, exasperation and amusement colouring their expressions.
“It’s too risky!”
“It’ll be fine, why are you being so boring?”
“I am trying to keep us from getting killed,” Nami seethes. Her face is set in a tight scowl that twists her features into something alarmingly frightening. You haven’t seen her this angry in quite some time.
“Not if we’re careful,” Luffy defends. The captain looks bored and irritated at the same time.
Nami’s right eye twitches.
Oh dear.
“And since when are you careful?”
“I’m not. But [name] is.” Your captain jerks a thumb in your direction.
All heads swivel to look at you.
You raise your palms up, placating. “I… just got here.”
Nami runs up to you, eyes pleading. The ginger-haired woman grabs your shoulders and gently shakes you.
“Please knock some sense into him!”
You tilt your head and lean to the left in order to peek at Luffy from behind Nami’s frame. The boy scratches the back of his head with a toothy grin.
“Would you care to explain, Captain?” You ask bemusedly.
Luffy’s eyes dance with mischief. “We’ve got a mission!”
It’s Zoro that steps in this time. “Just the two of you?”
“Well, yeah,” Luffy answers plainly.
You gently pry Nami’s hands off. “Why?”
“You’re the only one who knows the layout of the place,” he explains.
You frown. “What place?”
“Aracorn Palace,” Robin interjects. There’s a small smile on her face as she watches the situation unfold. Always assessing. Always dissecting.
Aracorn… such a familiar name. It takes a second before a sliver of memory tickles the edges of your mind. An image forms; one of a mighty castle built from silver and stone erected in the heart of a powerful city.
You used to travel there for important delegations and social banquets. Luffy is right. You do know the area well.
“We’re going there? What for?”
“And why only the two of you?” Zoro questions.
“To be stealthy,” Luffy grins.
“Right. Stealthy. You.” Zoro stares, unconvinced.
Luffy ignores his second-in-command. “We’re going to go rescue someone. He’s being kept in the dungeons.”
So many questions.
“Who is it?”
Robin, again, speaks up. “His name is not important. He may not even own such a thing. His role as an ex-member of an underground information guild named Kleios is what makes him useful to us. An execution date has been set for tomorrow evening, so if we are to save the man, we must do it soon.”
“Well? What do you say?” Luffy's enthusiasm is palpable.
The rest of the crew watches you, assuming that you would wave it off. The danger is obvious, and you are—among most instances—level headed enough to pull the plug when needed.
One last adventure.
You surprise them.
“I’m in.”
✧ ˚ · .
You should have known it wouldn’t be easy. In fact, you should have known that the entire plan would fall apart because of course it did. Nothing ever seems to go right for the crew. Right now you curse such rotten luck. Although… it isn’t even luck, not really. It’s the captain… Zoro… Nami… Sanji… the whole lot of them! No matter how organized—how meticulous—a plan was, it never actually fucking went to plan. You suppose you’ll miss it. That unmanned chaos. You suppose you’ll miss all of it. As for who you’ll miss most…
“Zoro!” You stare up at the swordsman in both relief and horror. He dangles from a rope ladder, cascaded off the side of a strange looking vehicle—one with wings and whirring motors that suspend its large metal body in the open air. Usopp sits in the pilot seat manning the impressive contraption. Sweat beads on his forehead from concentration. The others are likely protecting the ship from the nation’s naval cavalry.
You increase your pace despite the burning sensation in your lungs. Hot on your heels is a stretch of armed guards mixed with strange looking creatures that look to be a gruesome mismatch of different animals—both natural and mythological.
Chimeras.
Luffy, for once, listened and fled alongside you when shit hit the fan—albeit with extreme reluctance. The captain was able to deal with the first rush of soldiers and their Chimera, but the monster was vicious and even Luffy struggled. That was a mere one. The royal guard owned five. And all of them, snapping their fanged teeth and snarling in hunger, are quickly closing the distance between themselves and you—their prey.
The prisoner was long dead. The whole thing was a trap designed to ensnare the Straw Hats, and Luffy and you had walked straight into it. By the time you both realized you had been played, the cavalry had already surrounded you. Thankfully, Luffy was the master of creative escapes. He was not, however, a master of subtle ones. What was originally one guard unit and its accompanying Chimera quickly turned into all of them chasing after you in a vicious frenzy.
“Don’t engage! We’ll come to you!” You shout towards Zoro, urging him to stay aboard. You can see a sort of panic in his eyes, mottled by excitement. He’s itching to fight. But doing so would be his biggest mistake yet and likely his last as well if he does not heed your words.
The murderous soldiers are practically breathing down your necks, and even with Luffy trying to fend off as many as possible, you will quickly be overwhelmed by the strength of the Chimeras. The monsters growl and roar as their heavy steps thunder behind you, bloodlust practically soaking them through. If Zoro abandoned the ladder and tried to fight them off… it would be sheer suicide. You won’t let that happen.
Luffy manages to stretch out and grab hold of Zoro in the near distance. With a yell, he swings himself up and grabs you along the way. You yelp, the sudden movement catching you off guard. You shut your eyes as the wind whips you in the face. With a soft thud you land against a warm mass.
Zoro catches you, arms encircling your waist.
“Are you okay?” He murmurs into your ear.
You sag into him from relief. “Yes. Is Luffy…?”
“He’s completely fine,” Zoro smirks.
Luffy, who is sprawled across the floor, gives you two thumbs up in reassurance. You can’t help but laugh.
“Usopp! Take us away.”
The pilot gives you a smile and a salute before he presses a button and pulls the wheel up. Slowly, you feel the contraption tilt upwards. Smooth and steady.
CRASH!
Out of nowhere, you and the rest of the crew are violently thrown to the left as something punctures the metal wall of the vehicle and jerks the entire thing back. Before you go slamming into the wall, Zoro twists himself around and cushions the blow.
“What the hell?” Zoro’s grip on you tightens protectively.
A strange red pincer curls into the crumpled sheet that—just a moment ago—was the side hull. It looks to be the same sort of armour that is found upon the back of a crab, except it bears a darker color. Not unlike a deep pool of blood. Its shape is almost identical to that of a scorpion's tail but riddled with sharp ridges that cover its surface. The thing is the size of your head—a grotesque limb extended from one of the Chimeras, no doubt.
Zoro and Luffy both immediately jump into action, the former slicing at the pincer while Luffy tries brute force. Neither works. Solid and unbending, the pincer trembles then stills. The next second you are staring into the howling winds and open space. The army roars beneath you, fifty feet below. The ugly beast with the scorpion tail isn’t finished. It narrows its beady eyes and with astonishing speed, it whips its tail upwards, spearing the floor.
Usopp does his best to recenter, managing to keep everyone upright and away from the gaping hole left by the ripped wall.
“Shit,” Zoro hisses. “The damn thing is too tough. I can’t cut through.”
“I can’t rip it out!” Luffy frowns, throwing punch after fruitless punch at the immovable pincer.
Panic threatens to overwhelm you.
Shit, shit, shit. Shit!
Something glints in the corner of your vision. A solution strikes you and you scramble towards a device on the floor.
“The laser cutter! I can–” but your voice is lost to the bellowing winds as the monster yanks its tail once more, causing the entire machine to shake. You fumble with the device and clumsily clasp it in your trembling hands. Vertigo strikes you as you look down for a split second.
The ground is nearing at an alarming rate.
It’s too close. Too—
Zoro jumps.
“NO!” You reach out in an attempt to pull him back but you're too late. The fabric of his shirt slips out of your grasp and Zoro goes tumbling down—straight into the unhinged maw of the monster below.
You aren’t sure if the screams piercing the air are your own or if they belong to the dying men below. With fluid ease, Zoro manages to sidestep the beast. He dives into the mass, slashing through their ranks. It is beyond impressive.
But it is not enough.
The Chimeras have zoned in, their attention drawn to Zoro. Snarling and snapping, they circle their prey.
Its suicide.
“No…”
Luffy steps forward, ready to leap into the chaos, when familiar shouts sound from below.
The rest of the crew are here.
You collapse in relief, adrenaline draining from your body.
He’s okay.
✧ ˚ · .
“This is such a stupid fight,” you sigh.
“This isn’t a fight,” Zoro frowns, unnerved by the very idea of arguing with you.
Sanji pipes up. “It sounds like a fight.”
Nami pinches him by the ear and drags the chef out of the kitchen, scolding him as he protests and apologizes.
“But Nami! They’re in my workspace!”
You and Zoro both ignore him, too preoccupied with the argument at hand.
“I saved your life. His too. If anything, you should be thanking me.”
You scoff in disbelief. “I’m not going to thank you for your recklessness.”
“And I won’t apologize for it,” Zoro says firmly.
“You’re going to get yourself killed one day! I refuse to stick around and watch it happen.”
He freezes as he catches onto the underlying meaning behind your words. “What do you mean by that?”
“I…” you hesitate, unprepared for this conversation. You didn’t mean to let news of your departure slip out. This isn’t how it was supposed to go. You’re both too agitated. Too riled up.
“What do you mean by that?” He echoes. His voice is low and careful, tip toeing on the edge between urgency and trepidation.
You want to turn around. Walk away. Lie.
But this is Zoro. A man you entrust with your life and, occasionally, your heart as well. Secrets don’t belong in your relationship—as muddled as it is—and they will only consume what trust you have forged through the years.
It is time to bear the truth in front of the most terrifying witness.
With a rough swallow, you tell him everything. Your plan to leave the crew, to retain your birthright, and to finally settle your country’s score, once and for all, by bringing peace through union. A marriage between royal heirs. You and a foreign prince.
You can’t look at him as the secret you’ve been harbouring finally spills over your lips like oil. If you look at him, you’ll cry.
“…I leave in two weeks,” you finish. You’re still staring at the ground, heart racing a mile a minute.
There’s no answer. Silence stretches on for a while, so quiet a person’s breath could be mistaken for thunder. So cloying, it stains your lungs. Finally, you can’t take it anymore. You snap your head up, ready to demand a reply from the swordsman, but the look on Zoro’s face wipes anything you have to say from memory.
Shock, anger, disappointment, sadness. Those are all too shallow of description for the depth of what he is feeling. The best he settles on is desperation. An intensely unpleasant anxiety that borders on panic. That is what currently thrums in his veins.
You’re leaving…?
“You won’t change my mind Zoro.”
He doesn’t answer.
“Nothing will,” you add softly.
Especially not him.
This is your goal—your dream. He can’t take that away from you no matter how much he resents it. He simply can’t. But he can be angry, can’t he? He deserves that anger. Needs it to keep him sane. But before he can articulate it, you speak up again, turning the subject back to the argument before.
“The point is you’re too rash.”
He’s barely listening. “It’s my job.”
“No,” you reply firmly. “No it’s not. You put that title on yourself—placed that burden on your own shoulders, never asking for a hand. Not even when so many would offer.”
“I don’t need help. I protect my friends. That’s what I do,” he grits out.
“Even at your own expense?”
“Yes.”
You scoff in disbelief. “It's idiotic.”
“It’s my duty.”
“So you say!” You throw your hands up, exasperated and frustrated. “But that’s not all it is, is it? You fear losing that part of yourself—the protector, the bodyguard, the shield—because you would lose yourself in the process. Your entire life—your purpose—does not revolve around meaningless self-sacrifice and protecting us from a world we choose to exist in!”
He scoffs in sheer disbelief. “And you? What exactly is your role? Don’t you dare stand there and attempt to psychoanalyze me when you’re just a damn coward!”
You suck in a sharp breath, his words striking deep. “I am not a coward.”
“Then why the hell are you running away?!”
“Running? Running?!”
He nods, jaw clenched. He avoids looking straight at you—at the hurt in your eyes. “Yes. The only thing you know how to do.”
Anger replaces hurt. “You fucking hypocrite,” you spat out.
He shakes his head. “I’m just calling it like I see it.”
“You are nothing without your so-called duty,” you hiss. “So you do not get to judge mine.”
“Is that why you abandoned it in the first place? I wonder where this valiant change of heart came from.”
“You could never understand.”
He drops his gaze to the floor and takes a heavy step back. Zoro can barely look at you. “You’re right. I could never understand turning my back on people who needed me.”
Those are the last words he says to you. The next morning, you are gone. All of your things and belongings cleared from your room—like you had never existed on the ship in the first place.

"stay, please" ft. the monster trio!
in which, nightmares plague them and you're the only remedy ft. luffy, zoro, sanji x fem!reader set-up: late night nightmares give way to very vulnerable boyfriends i see (i couldnt bring myself to pick sad gifs for them tho, idk use your imagination) warnings: none!! wholesome shit all day every day :) m.list
luffy:
- luffy is always a heavy sleeper - no, like quite literally - he sleeps on you like a log, unmoving until you're physically shoving him off and throwing him off the bed - so, in the dead of the night, when he pulled you closer against his chest and held you tighter, you simply assumed it was no big deal - but his hands are tightening around your waist, his breath seems laboured and as you throw him a glance over your shoulders, you see his brows furrowed together as if he was in pain - "yn, no. yn-" his voice sounds distraught, hands trembling against your figure "luffy?" you whisper, gently putting your arm over his, "luffy, hey?" - his breath seems more laboured, as if it hurts just to breathe - you were shaking him awake, "luffy, wake up, come on" - when he did, his eyes were teary and he buried his head into your hair. relief flooded his voice as he kept holding onto you, "you're okay right?" "ofcourse i am. are you?" "i-" he sneaks in a quick breath and then looks at you, "yeah" - you run your hand up and down his arm gently, other coming to rest on his cheek, "nightmare?" - he stays silent for a second, just looking at you. then he whispers, "i thought i lost you" "i'm right here" you flash him a small smile, chasing it with a small peck on his lips, "i promise" "you promise?" his features stay unmoving, still grim "i promise" you're rubbing soothing circles on his cheek - a second passes before either of you speaks up. it's him who does. - he presses his hands over yours and whispers slowly, "stay with me, please" "i wouldn't be caught dead anywhere else" - and then he's picking you up, "we're awake and im hungry so might as well-" - he made you help him raid the pantry and feed him emergency snacks to soothe him again - one of these days, sanji's gonna put a biometric scanner at the kitchen door and luffy's gonna go feral - that is your version of doomsday - what a menace i love him
zoro:
- it was a sickening routine as far as you remembered. you hated it to your very core and yet, you couldn't do anything as it played out - every once in a while, when the fates were a little too cruel, zoro would slip out of the bed, careful not to wake you up. - he'd slowly close the door behind him, stepping out onto the chilly deck - it wouldn't take you long to notice the abrupt coldness next to you where zoro should have been - and you would usually walk out and find him peering at the sea, tension etched into every muscle - your hands would wrap around his waist and you would press your face against his sculpted back. you would feel his body ease under your familiar touch, the tension fading away and leaving behind another young man "zo'" you would whisper, "'nother nightmare?" and he would just gave you a curt nod - that's how it usually went. he wouldn't elaborate, he would just hold onto you till all his worries slipped past him and then he'd carry you back to bed - he wouldn't bring it up again in the morning and it was a silent agreement that you wouldn't either - but today, his body shivered, trembling against your feather-like touches "zoro?" you're panicking, turning him to look at you, "zo' are you cry-" - he pulls you towards himself, his head on top of yours, "i thought i fuckin' lost you i-" you bury yourself against him, "i'm right here, look" "you wouldn't leave right?" his voice is gentle, "i- you'd stay by my side, right? please" - you look up at him, pressing a kiss on his cheek, "ofcourse i will. where else would i go?" he gives a small smile, "wherever you go, stay away from that shitty cook" "ah, don't worry. you can ensure that by showering for once" "oh, really?" he scoffs playfully, "only if you join me" - he carries your blushing figure into the room and you fall asleep with him tangled against you - you did take him up on the showering together offer tho, ur a slave to the temptations of the flesh it seems
sanji:
- honest to god, i believe he is the kind of guy who doesn't wake you up - but over the years, youve caught onto the pattern - it's always the days where he either sneaks off into the kitchen, saying that there's just some recipe he thought of that he needs to try or he sits in the bed, silently basking in the venomous thoughts - some nights, you feel his warmth pull away and he's sitting beside you, back against the headboard - his breath is laboured and his eyes are screwed shut as he tips his head backwards - your hand is on his knee, grounding him back to reality "sanji?" you mumble as you sit up, "you okay?" "did i wake you up?" he mumbles back with a look of concern, "im sorry, my love" - but you're already settling in between his legs, your back flush against his chest. you bring his hand and intertwine it with your own, bringing it to your lips to press a small kiss - it ends with you talking about something else to get his mind off the bullshit "what if we have like 4 moons and we don't know?" "i don't think that scientifically possible, darling" "anything's possible. never say never." - on nights you find him in the kitchen, you silently walk in there and sit on the kitchen counter, asking him what he's cooking - you entertain him with mundane bullshit as he cooks - 9/10 you fall asleep in the kitchen and he has to carry you back - cooks you the same dish later again cause while he was carrying you back, luffy stormed into the kitchen, ate whatever it was and fell asleep on the fucking kitchen floor. - sanji's considering putting a biometric scanner at the kitchen door now

── 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐎𝐑… 𝐍𝐎. 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐃 ¹
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: you were once a feared name on the sea--once, but not anymore. your downhill life takes a turn when you decide to rob a pirate ship, and it happens to belong to one of your big brothers.
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: luffy's sister!reader x strawhats
𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 3k
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭: smoking, mysterious backstory ooooo ahhhh, fluff and minimal angst, not enireeeely satisfied with this but its left off kinda open-ended so ill likely return to this scenario later
𝐎𝐏 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 | 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒, 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒
Now, the Strawhat Pirates were used to not knowing much about their captain’s past. He has a brother with flame powers? Sure thing. A Marine Vice Admiral for a grandfather? Okay, that’s fine. Monkey D. Dragon is his father? Whatever, they’ve heard crazier.
But really, at this point, they might want to just sit him down and get all of it out in the open.
Usopp wandered through a busy marketplace, Luffy’s shirtsleeve in his tight vice. Sanji tailed them as an extra precaution, one eye on his supply list and the other on the ready-to-bolt captain.
Luffy huffed indignantly, tugging at Usopp’s grip. “I wanna explore.”
“And we want to get out of here in a timely manner,” Usopp quipped back.
And they just might have done just that, if not for the hooded figure running right through Luffy and Usopp, parting their hands. A street vendor shouted curses after them, shaking a fist. “S-Stop! Hey!”
It was no use; the thief was too far away, and the man was too old to have the energy to chase them. He slumped his shoulders and pinched his brow, raising his gaze to find the stares of Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp zeroed in on him. “What? You plan on robbin’ the old man too?”
Sanji removed his cigarette from between his teeth with a shake of his head. “Sorry. What’d they steal? Maybe we can get it back for you?”
The old man shook a dismissive hand, frown deeply set on his face. “Agh. Don’t bother. You kids don’t get yerself wrapped up with her.” That was all it took for their prying curiosity to close in on him, and suddenly the man was surrounded on all sides. “Hey, now…”
“Who?” Luffy demanded first, head cocked to the side.
Lips agape, he shook his head and jabbed a thumb at the wanted poster pinned up to the wall beside his fruit stand. “That’s her, if you’re so curious. Been robbin’ us blind all month! The marines tried to catch ‘er, but no one can touch the bitch.”
Usopp rushed over and swiped the poster down, skimming it over with a hum. “Doesn’t look too tough. I bet we can take ‘er.”
The man rolled his eyes. “That’s what we all said.”
Sanji peeked over the sharpshooter’s shoulder as he let out a puff of smoke. He blinked, cheeks growing warm the longer he gazed at the woman pictured. “She’s… beautiful.”
Usopp squinted at the slightly faded writing scrawled under the picture. “Wanted dead or…” He snorted. “Nope, that’s it. Just dead for 40,000,000 berri.”
“Lemme see!” Luffy sidled up to Usopp and stared right at the poster’s center, recognition settling in instantly. You looked older, but that wasn’t the biggest change—joy had returned to your smile, your beaming expression showcasing a side of you he hadn’t seen since before Sabo died.
An unbridled laugh left him as he took the poster roughly, shoving Usopp aside. “Hey! That’s my little sister!”
“Oh,” Usopp hummed, taking a moment to process before his brows vaulted and he shot Sanji a look. “WHAT?!”
જ ⁀ ➴
You slinked through the streets toward the docks, hood hung low over your face, cheshire grin shrouded by shadow. You rolled a slice of mango around your tongue, sighing now that your hunger was satisfied.
You wanted to pay the guy—honest! But being an enemy of the state didn’t exactly pay well, and a mercenary’s gotta eat.
Waiting for a donkey cart to roll past, you bolted over to the wooden boardwalk just in front of the port. Nobody paid you any mind, assuming you to be one of the street urchins that made up the local gangs. You only meant to play a small joke on the young sailor you’d grown acquainted with, make his life just a bit more difficult, when your path was halted by the sight of a new ship docked at port.
It was a pretty caravel, a little rough around the edges from weather and climate, with a masthead of a goat peering out at the city. A pirate ship, for certain. A grin itched its way up your face. A pirate ship meant treasure, and there wasn’t much in this life you liked more than treasure.
Well, there was one thing, but unfortunately, your brothers were scattered across the sea—two alive, one not so much. The thought had you stumbling over your own feet, righting yourself swiftly before you headed for the caravel. You mumbled pathetically to yourself, like you had been since you left your home village some years ago. The life of a mercenary is a lonely one.
“Wonder what they’ve got, huh, Sabo.” Gazing up at the clouds, you grinned. The wind whistled through your hair, and your coping mechanism fell through. It’d been doing that a lot lately. Sighing out your troubles, you shook out your shoulders and crept up the gangway.
A girl stood watch, facing the sea on the other side of the ship. At the helm, a swordsman lay sleeping. Other than that, it was empty. Just a skinny-limbed girl and a lazy warrior. Perfect.
You slipped on board without a sound, living up to your title as The Silent Death. Well, nobody had called you that in a few years, not since you were twelve and stormed Marine Headquarters looking for your grandfather. You hadn’t found the Vice Admiral, but you had given them a reason for renovation. You possessed the Terra-Terra Fruit, and the earth rumbled at your command. At least you still held the name Earthshaker.
Your first wanted poster had been a shot of you sailing away, laughing in the face of the destruction. A force of nature, they called you. Hired by pirates, warlords, and royalty to do their less than noble deeds. But that was a long time ago. Now, you were nothing more than a petty thief, loneliness and grief taking its toll after so long repressing it.
But never the matter! After this last loot, you’d have the money to buy back your ship, get off that godforsaken island, and finally restore yourself to your former glory. Then Ace would never call you on your little snail transponder and laugh at your series of failures.
“Hey.” You glanced up from where you were crouching behind a barrel, locking eyes with the girl as she blinked surprisedly. Her hand itched toward a weapon at her side.
“Shit.” You cursed yourself and your inner-monologuing tendencies. “Bye!”
You darted up and made for the edge of the ship when a sword whizzed past your faze, narrowly missing your chin. The swordsman rose, alert as ever, two more swords ready at his side. You scoffed, huffing, “Why do you need three?”
Three… Two… One.
Eyes widened, you realized you knew that lazy swordsman (whose swords probably overcompensated for something) just as he started to recognize you as well. He jumped down to the deck, approaching warily as the girl came to stand beside him.
Roronoa Zoro muttered your name like a curse. “What’re you doing here, huh?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” you murmured back, genuinely curious. “What’re you doin’ on a pirate ship, pirate hunter?”
“Change in career path,” he snapped. “We don’t appreciate stowaways. Especially not a backwater odd-job dog clinging to her glory days.”
You tsked. “Now, now. I was just having a look around. No harm done.” You swept a bow, flicking your wrist as you searched out the sea floor far down below. “I’ll be going now.”
With your head bowed, they didn’t catch your growing smirk until it was too late; the oceanic crust spread across the floor, magma exposed to the salty sea at an unnatural speed. The water rocked the ship and all those around, the nearby sailors murmuring worriedly.
“Hey, I may be a loser,” you admitted, picking at a cuticle as their glares shifted to concern. “But I’m still the Earthshaker, Roronoa. Now, how about some financial compensation for my bruised pride, before I capsize this sorry excuse for a boat.”
The girl scoffed in reply, brows vaulted. “Yeah, no thanks. We’re very attached to our beri.”
“You are,” Roronoa yelped. “Give her something before we lose the ship!”
Lips pursed, the girl looked ready to either attack you or give up, so you worsened the sea’s uproar just to give her a scare. A relent was on the tip of her tongue when her gaze darted over your shoulder, relief flooding her features. “Luffy!”
The sea floor closed up in an instant, the color leaving your face. “Luffy?”
A body flung into your back, tackling you to the deck. You bit back curses, wriggling free, when that laugh hit the back of your neck. A million repressed memories surfaced like the magma you controlled, and you were suddenly twelve years old, leaving your last brother in the dead of night to set off on an adventure you thought would fix everything.
Falling still, you slowly shifted to roll on your back, staring up at the beaming face of Monkey D. Luffy. You pushed up on your elbows, blind to the careful stares of those around, and gulped down some air. “Luffy?”
He chuckled gently, murmuring your name in turn, and you lurched forward to wring your arms around his neck. A tiny piece of your heart was put back in place (only a third of it, and you figured it would only be whole when you died and rejoined the brother lost).
Leaving home so young was a shitty miscalculation on your part. You’d fled Dawn Island some time after Ace, and some time before Luffy. Your not-so-big-more-like-twin brother always said you’d set out together, that one day he would be Pirate King and you would all be happy. But you left without ever saying goodbye, joined up with a crew of mercenaries, ate a devil fruit, and searched out Grandpa Garp for some answers about where you came from. And years passed and you could never admit your mistake—not until you spotted Luffy’s smiling face in the wanted poster he always thought you would share.
You leaned back and caught his eye, scurrying to sit on your knees. You wiped at your eyes as embarrassing tears started to well up. “I… I dunno…”
He knocked his head against yours, eliciting a sharp ow! from you. Luffy grinned cheekily as you nursed your temples. “You owe me an apology. So you can start there.”
And the fire sprang up in your throat all over again. Pathetic, you choked it all down with a nod. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking. With S-Sabo gone and Ace gone… I thought for sure you’d be gone too soon enough… so I left you before you could leave me.”
You looked away sheepishly, rubbing at your arms. Luffy just flicked the side of your head and offer you the same bright expression he always did; it was the expression that gave you hope your life wasn’t totally screwed over, not yet anyways. “It’s okay—S’ long as you know it was stupid.”
You rolled your eyes and stood as he did the same. His hand never strayed far from your shoulder, holding you there like you might bolt away. Luffy gave a laugh and turned to face his friends, and only then did you remember you weren’t alone. You pivoted to face them all, locking eyes with a less-than-pleased Zoro.
“What’d going on, Luffy?” Zoro grunted, and if possible Luffy’s smile grew.
He took both your shoulders and shook you a little. “This is my little sister!”
You scoffed. “Little my ass! We’re the same age!”
Luffy held up his palm to his own height, then dipped it down to around your collarbone. “But you were always little-er, and Ace got to call you little!”
“Because he’s older than me!”
“Wait,” Zoro butted in just as you prepped to launch yourself at Luffy. “Sister? You never mentioned a sister.”
Luffy nocked his head to the side, lips pursed. “I didn’t?”
“No.”
“Huh.” He laughed it off. “But this is great! We saw Ace a while back in Alabasta, y’know.”
Nodding, you twined your hands behind your back and rocked on your heels. “Yeah, I caught ‘im a few months ago.”
The reunion met a halt when Luffy asked, “What’re you doing here, anyway?”
Nami jutted out a hip and settled you with a look. “She threatened to take down the Merry if we didn’t hand over our beri.”
Luffy’s brows vaulted, lips a thin line as he turned to you. You chuckled awkwardly. “That is something I did, yes.”
But that wasn’t what occupied him. “How did you nearly sink the ship?”
“Oh.” You swirled your palms, gathering the granules of rock and dirt scattered around the deck and collecting it all in a tiny twister. “I got the Terra-Terra Fruit a few years ago.”
His eyes brighetend like stars. “That’s so cool!”
Usopp faced Sanji with a slack jaw. “What is it with their family and devil fruits?”
“Hello?” Nami waved a hand between you and Luffy. “She tried to rob us, Luffy.”
You inched away from her with a small smile. “Sorry about that. Desperate times, yeah?”
Despite the frowns set on everyone’s faces, you had a good feeling you would win them all over. You were just too charming, after all. Casting a look around, a familiar ache gnawed at your stomach. “Uhm, have you got any food?”
જ ⁀ ➴
The crew quickly decided that Ace was their favorite of the family.
While Ace was polite, generous, and charming, you and Luffy were cut from the very same cloth. Messy and loud, the only difference was that you were slightly more aware of your surroundings than your brother.
“Yeah, she and Luffy were always tied at the hip,” said Ace, his voice crackling to life from the transponder snail Sanji pulled out one late night. “Just… don’t be too harsh on her. She’s had a rough few months.”
Sanji had no clue what that meant, but he almost wanted to find out, not just because you’re pretty. A shadowy look always eclipsed your face, no matter how big your smile got. Over the few weeks you’d spent on the Going Merry, Sanji tried to get to know your story, but you never answered more than a few sentences before disappearing the whole afternoon.
“You knew her from before,” he said to Zoro one morning, stopping the swordsman as they traded spots for the night watch. “Do you know anything?”
Zoro adjusted his swords at his hip, chewing at his cheek. “All I know is a couple years ago, she was one of the most wanted mercenaries on the East Blue. Now, she’s a shadow of that person on the Grand Line. Isn’t that just what this place does?”
“Maybe…” But Sanji knew better. Maybe he was so concerned because he knew that sometimes, on days darker and gloomier than the rest, he had that same look in his eye. So he caught you one night watch when you had no choice but to lean against the ship rail and deal with his company.
He took a long drag from a cigarette, preparing what he’d say, when you nudged him and reached out to take the smoke from him. Sanji scoffed a laugh as he handed it off, watching you inhale deep and expel it in a puff, your eyes heavy. “Wanna talk about it?”
“About what?” You took another drag.
“Whatever it is you thought of.”
From the way your face darkened, Sanji thought you might stub the cig on the deck and leave him there to take your watch, but you only stood there, head hung between your shoulders. You gave him back his smoke hesitantly.
“For the longest time,” you sighed, “I wanted so badly to know where I come from.” Sanji tilted his head in unspoken question. “Me and Luffy aren’t reallys siblings. We’re adopted, I guess.”
“Ah.” That made all your similarities a little more uncanny, but it made sense. You didn’t really look like Luffy anyway. “And… you found out?”
You nodded shortly, picking at a splinter in the rail. “Not to long ago. I always imagined that my parents loved me, and that we got separated by some tragedy that left me on Dawn Island.” Your voice broke off hollowly. “But that’s not it at all.”
He didn’t say anything when you started crying, and he didn’t ask what exactly plagued your past. Sanji just… stood there, offered you a cloth from his pocket, and waited till you compeod yourself to give you his cigarette.
“Thank you,” you whispered as the sun peeked up over the sea.
“No need. I’m here if you want to talk. All of us are, really.”
You doubted that, but you sent him a smile and descended to the girl’s cabin for some sleep. Nami and Robin remained sleeping softly as you slipped into bed, staring up at the ceiling wide awake. Your slammed the heels of your palms to your eyes, silently screaming into the air.
“Why,” you hissed. “Why did I cry?”
Sheets rustled across the room, and suddenly Robin’s eyes glinted at you. “You were crying?”
“Who’s crying?” Nami yawned as she pushed up on her elbows.
You just about buried yourself in your blanket and suffocated yourself, face warming over. “No one! Go to sleep.”
“Can’t,” Nami snapped back. “You practicality stomped in here. I’m thoroughly awake.”
“Same here.” Robin and Nami shifted to face you from their beds, sleepy eyes hooded as they gazed upon you. “What’s the matter?”
You sat quiet as a mouse, eyes wide and caught, until you flopped over on your side and pulled your blanket up to your chin. “Sorry I woke you.”
The two Strawhats locked eyes, brows equally raised. They’d been conspiring to figure you out ever since you joined their adventures, and this certainly added fuel to their investigative fire. Because as much as you laughed and played and made messes everywhere you went, a great shadow lurked behind you—and everyone could see it.
Like a lingering ghost of a past you’d rather forget, something haunted followed your every move. From the way you cast glances over your shoulder at every port to how you fell into frightening silence at certain points in conversation, the entire Strawhat Crew felt the way darkness pulled at you.
And they would find out why—Whether you liked it or not, they would find a way to help you.

✎ luffy x reader !
✦ summary ➠ you start feeling a little jealous after a certain incident
✦ warnings ➠ nsfw, flashing, swearing
— The fight with Crocodile and Baroque Works was finally over, it felt like the brawl lasted years. But now, the Straw Hat pirates could get all the rest they so desperately needed. In return for helping the kingdom, the pirates were allowed to eat as much as their heart desired. They were also invited to enjoy the palaces royal bath.
You now sat in that very bath with Nami and Vivi. It was a beautiful place, to say the least. Everything was dressed in shiny gold, glistening as the mist from the warm water filled the room. You were in the women’s side of course, but you thought if this side was this grand then the men’s area must be just as nice. This made you think of your boyfriend, Luffy. He was just on the other side of that wall, you guessed he was fooling around like he usually would.
As you admired the bath, Nami and Vivi chatted about what the world could hold for them; how the world has so many secrets that are just waiting to be found out.
“Y/n, could you get my back?” Vivi asked sweetly, her long blue hair was slightly darker due to the water. She chose to have a towel wrapped around her figure rather than being fully naked. You too chose to have a towel on.
“Of course, your highness.” You joked as you made your way towards her to take a seat on the stool behind her. You gathered the sponge that was soaked in soapy water, gently but firmly scrubbing the blue haired princess.
“Don’t call me that!” It was light hearted but it did hold some truth, she truly felt like you guys were friends now and she was grateful for all that you have done.
“Her highness is angry!” Nami added in, laughing along with you as you both ganged up on Vivi. She caved in too, she couldn’t hold in her giggles any longer. It was nice just to enjoy each others presence after all the fighting.
A comfortable silence overcame the room, all three of you smiling. Until suddenly, Nami’s smile dropped as she stood up. This made you and Vivi turn your heads in that direction, what you saw surprised you. All of the guys were now on your side of the bath, peering at you over the wall.
You clutched the towel tightly, ensuring none of your body would be exposed. “What are you doing, you freaks?!” You and Vivi screeched together, this is the girls side, you idiots, you thought.
“Peeking on us.” Nami walked closer to the group, she too had a towel on. “All right pervs, I expect each of you to pay $3000 for this!” Nami declared as she let the cloth fall to the ground, letting the men see all of her.
You were shocked, not only because she just showed them her naked body, but also because your boyfriend was part of that group that saw her. oh.
They all toppled backwards, many noses oozing out blood from the sight they just saw.
Something bubbled deep inside of you, jealousy. You don’t know why you felt this way, it’s not like Luffy asked to be flashed, it’s not like he wanted that to happen. You told yourself that, but you still felt the same as before, jealous.
Nami and Vivi left the bath and so did the men that were laid out on the floor. But you stayed, you decided to wash yourself with the sponge you were using earlier on Vivi, you need time to yourself to think and calm down from the previous event. He saw another girl naked, and it was one of your closest friends.
As you rubbed the sponge along your bare legs, you yelped when you felt a hand touch your shoulder. “Wha-”
“It’s me Y/n!” He smiled and used that tone he always did, a energetic one. He was acting the same as always, like he didn’t just see Nami in the nude. That makes you irritated slightly.
“Oh, hey Luffy.” You brushed his hand off your shoulder, resuming the wash on your legs.
“What’s wrong?” His furrowed with worry, he kneeled in front of you where you sat on the stool. He took note of the coolness in your tone, how you barely looked at him as you spoke. Usually you’d have a soft smile on your face, usually you’d be eager to talk to him. But now you were different.
“Nothing, just busy. I didn’t get a chance to properly wash myself fully. You can go.” You said nothing was wrong but that was a lie. You really just wanted to be alone in your thoughts right now. You would rather Luffy not be here because you were afraid you’d lash out at him for no real reason, you didn’t want to hurt him.
“No, I wanna spend time with you.” He was still kneeling down, now leaning closer to your body. “I’ve been sleeping for 3 days!”
“Ya well, that’s what happens when your bleeding out and have poison in your system.” You turned away from him, making more room between the both of you. Now you were just being mean.
“Y/nnn, tell me what’s wrong.” He whined, looking at you with those big eyes, they looked so desperate to know your answer. Those eyes make you weak, they make you cave every time he wants something.
“It’s just…” He still held intense eye contact, listening intently. “Earlier, you know when Nami.. did what she did. You saw her body, you saw her breasts and her hips and her.. you saw everything!”
“Oh.” Is all he says, he looks zoned out. Is he mad at you? Does he think your feelings are stupid. You look away, starting to feel embarrassed. But his hand on your chin brings you back to his eyes. “Is that what you’re mad about?”
You nodded while still in his grip. He pulled you in, placing a gentle kiss to your lips. You couldn’t help but reciprocate, even if you were still a little jealous.
“You don’t have to feel jealous, Y/n.” He whispered between kisses. “Because you’re my girlfriend, not Nami. You’re the only one I want to see naked. I want to see you naked right now, actually.”
You pulled away from the kiss, blinking a few times at his statement. You weren’t feeling much jealousy anymore, mostly just lust. You grabbed the top of your towel, where the piece of clothing wrapped around itself to keep your body concealed. You tugged on it, making it fall off your body and drop to the ground at your ankles.
“Pretty.” He reached out both hands to grope at your boobs, squishing them between his fists once or twice. “These are the only pair of boobs I think about, prettiest ones I’ve ever seen.”
He went down to lay kisses all over them, sucking when he got to your nipple. He’s always had a thing for you chest, he would spend all day kissing them, licking them, laying on them if he had a choice.
He smiled up at you, laying one last kiss to your nipple before lowering to align himself with your heat. He spread your legs apart further to allow room for his head, snuggling up close to your pussy.
“This is the best pussy out there.” He used his fingers to split your lips apart, face diving in. He started by licking on your clit, he knew you loved when he did that. And it was proved by how your hand slipped in his dark hair, pulling on the roots of it. You shoved his face in harder, wanting to feel more of him.
“Luffy!” You moaned out, curling your toes. He sucked on your clit next, making you lose your breath.
He starting sucking harder, licking more aggressively, wanting you to reach your orgasm quickly. You panted, feeling sparks starting to form in your lower half. Your legs shook and shut around Luffy’s head, trapping him in.
He slid out of your thighs, licking his lips clean from your juices.
“You have the only pair of boobs for me, you have the only pussy for me, you’re the only one for me, Y/n. K?” He kissed your cheek and grabbed your towel to drape around you again. He took your hand and pulled you along behind him, leading you away and out of the royal bath.

⠀⠀➧ requests are closed, sorryyyyy..!
⠀⠀꒰ 🍨 ꒱ notes: finally writing to clear out my inbox aAaaaAahhHhhHHHHh
req by @n0body-1mportant
MONKEY D. LUFFY
This trouble maker captain right here is always injured lol
So that said, you always go on healing your big, trouble maker baby
Wild card : Though he can take punches, kicks, and even stabs without screaming in pain—Luffy starts whining like a poor puppy everytime he comes to ask you to patch him up.
“Y/n...! Look, look, I'm heavily injured! I'm reaallyy hurt! Won't you heal me!? And, and! Won't you give me a kiss, too, for doing a great job in beating that bastard's ass!?”
RORONOA ZORO
Same as his captain, the first mate is always injured—due to fights, his harsh training, and other causes
..Despite always being injured, Zoro hates getting himself patched up. But if you're the one doing the healing so he could get better, it's all good for him!
Wild card : Zoro doesn't care if he's greatly bleeding out during a fight—but outside a fight, if he got the smallest cut, Zoro immediately dashes to you to get himself healed up..!
“Hey, so, I was peeling myself apples a while ago using that ero-cook's damned knife—now I got this cut. Heal it now, and eat these with me, yeah?”
NAMI
Nami very much hates getting herself injured, especially getting scars
So Nami is quick to rush to you to get her injury fixed
Wild card : this happens quite rarely, since as said above, she hates getting scars—but, nami sometimes get herself injured on 'places' to see you flushed when she asks you to heal it~
“Babyyy..! Look, look! Look at my perfectly beautiful legs here! They've got a scar! Their beauty has been tarnished, so, please.. Take care of them, yeah~?”
USOPP
Usopp avoids getting himself injured at all cost.
And when he does get injured, he screeches as he dash towards you with tears on his eyes, asking you to heal his injury ASAP.
Wild card : I have this headcanon for Usopp where he's a real clutz, so he always has an injury here and there, and wounds that he doesn't know where it came from.
“Y-Y/n..! W..When I woke up, I saw this new wound on my arm..! I..I don't know where it came from—it's probably from the spirits that I've angered, waaahh!!”
(it was caused by Luffy. He was dreaming that Usopp was a piece of meat, and bit him during their sleep. 💀)
VINSMOKE SANJI
As the left hand man of the ship's captain, Sanji is always out on a fight to support his captain, so injuries are unavoidable.
He's developed durability to the beating up he receives and shows it off his coolness to you, BUT AFTER THE FIGHT, he whines.
Wild card : This perv right here always has a nosebleed everytime you go patch up his beaten up ass, causing you more trouble.
“My loveee..! I'm injured, I'm badly hurt..! Everything's so painful, so please, heal me with your magic kiss—*you kiss him* *he nosebleeds*”
NICO ROBIN
Robin isn't a big fan of getting injuries during combat, or whenever.
Though despite being injured, she handles it like a Queen! (You don't.)
Wild card : As said above she handles her injuries like the Queen she is, BUT, you don't—you're more panicked when she's injured as she stays calm while telling you some morbid jokes.
“Darling.. Please calm down. I'm not going to die, you know? All I got is this small scratch the size of a severed finger, so, don't worry about me too much, okay?”
FRANKY
SUPEEEERRRRR Franky right here who's a barely gets himself injured.
↑ Why? Because, he's a cyborg, a cool one who will barely get a scratch..!
Wild card : ...When Franky does get injured for some reason being during a fight or where else, he starts crying like a small child to you as he asks you to heal him...!
“Waaahh! This damned injury hurts so bad..! It's SUPEEEERRRR painful, I'm gonna cry! Y/n, Y/n, quick, quickly, heal me and ease my pain..!!”
DRACULE MIHAWK
The greatest swordsman? Injured?? Pfft, not a chance.
Though when he's going against strong fellas, he gets some scratches here and there, which he deals with by himself—not wanting to bother you.
Wild card : Mihawk doesn't show it, but, he loves, and finds it cute when you insist on helping him with his injury that he already had managed, or can obviously handle fixing by himself.
“My dear... I already fixed my injury, so don't worry about it. But.. If you really insist on using your ability to speed up the healing process.. Alright. I'll let you.”

The Pirate King of the North: Part 6 with Sanji Character Sheet
Main Themes: Villain Sanji, Alternate Universe, Zosan Ship
Warning: Long post ahead with One Piece spoilers. Contains strong language and explicit content.
Part 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9
In the wealthier district of Sabaody Archipelago, Zoro perches on the roof of a tall bell tower. From afar, he carefully watches a squad of royal guards lead slaves that are carrying two individuals on their backs all the way from Sabao Dome. They finally stop at a particularly large mansion behind high iron gates and thick brick walls. Inside, there is a polished garden that has thick ivies climbing up to the very top of the marble facade of the main building. The slaves set down the heavy carrier by the entrance, then the Celestial Dragon ushers Sanji into his house. The swordsman sighs in disappointment, silently cursing the situation at hand. He’d hoped to have an opening where he can nab the blonde while they’re outside but it never came to, given how many guards there were.
Law continues to speak on the line of his transponder snail.
Law
Don't do anything stupid. Wait for us and just keep tabs on the line.
Zoro
No. No matter what you do, stay away. I don’t think they’ve linked you guys with Curls yet and I'd rather it stay that way. Have you got the rest of the Heart Pirates with you?
Law
They arrived about five minutes ago. They’re…not happy to say the least.
Zoro hears several familiar voices in the background, begging the swordsman for forgiveness and crying out for Sanji to come back safely.
Law
So what now, swordsman? How do you plan to infiltrate the most heavily guarded holiday house in Sabaody Archipelago by yourself? You need my power. It'll take seconds to get him out as soon as I get there.
Zoro
I said, no. Look, these guys don't joke around. If they see you somehow cause trouble for any World Nobles, they'll send an Admiral to hunt you down until you're dead or imprisoned. If I think he's going to do what I think he intends to do, he very well may be turning the entire world against him.
Law
And…what's that?
Zoro
I think he wants to kill the Celestial Dragon.
—
It was easy enough to hurdle the initial gates, but staying hidden in the enclosed area is proving to be just as difficult as he expected. Zoro can’t rely on staying on the ground as there are too many patrols. And he can’t break inside the mansion from above because that would mean jumping from a far distance and landing with a bang, then dealing with guards on the floor anyway. He decides to push through the only and the most annoying option he has left.
As soon as the opportunity presents itself, he shimmies up the mansion walls, silently praying that the thick ivy vines and trellises that he’s holding onto don't give into his weight. He's never been a fan of stealth missions or anything that required subtlety. Through the windows, he sees Sanji and the Celestial Dragon walking along a corridor and into a room. He follows, traversing through the climbing plants. He stops just under a balcony of the room where he assumed they had gone. He wraps his limbs around one of its support pillars and waits for any sign to see if he was right.
Sanji
Saint Charlos, my dear, I'll need a second to freshen up.
Saint Charlos
Of course! Don’t be long.
There was the sound of a click, presumably the door closing. Zoro jumps and grabs onto the platform above him. He carefully raises himself, enough to peek through the gaps of the balcony’s balustrades. He worriedly looks around when he realises that there’s no one in the open room, so pulls himself up further, shoving a foot between the railing.
Suddenly, a face pokes up in front of him.
Sanji
Hi~
Zoro’s hands slip. He tries to recover himself by flailing his arms around but to no avail. He falls backwards.
Zoro
ACK–!
Sanji snatches him by the collar of his open robe and pulls him back. Zoro takes the opportunity to grab onto the top railing and the blonde’s outstretched arm. He hooks his other foot between another set of balustrades, finally able to get some semblance of stability.
Sanji speaks in a whisper.
Sanji
My god, you are terrible at this. I could hear you shuffling around behind the walls. I had to compensate a lot for you, you know.
Zoro
What–?
Sanji covers his mouth with his other hand, practically slapping it. He tuts, shaking his head.
Sanji
Too loud. But…I can’t help but think how romantic this all is. It’s very sweet of you to put yourself in danger and come all this way, Zoro. You’re not worried about me, are you?
For some reason, the sound of his name coming from the blonde gives Zoro butterflies in his stomach. He blinks dumbly a couple of times, then slaps Sanji’s hand out of his mouth.
Zoro
Curls, we don't have time for this. We have to go now.
Sanji
What, why? I'm in the middle of a heist here. A heist! For money! We're pirates–we like money! Actually, you can clear our way out. At the eastern side there’s a hidden passage that they use as an escape route for emergencies. I've been told it's under a big willow tree. I want you to find it and make sure there are no guards on the way out in two hours.
Zoro
Two…? Fuck that. Let’s just–
Sanji
You can manage that, can’t you? You know which side is east, right? He won’t know what hit him until we’re way out of here. He’s far too rich to notice anything missing. I’ll have the money and some when I’m through, I promise.
Zoro
What? Is this really just about…? Curls, this isn't worth it. We can just stick to Traffy’s plan.
Sanji places a finger on Zoro’s lips then gives him a warm smile. The swordsman didn’t realise that the hand that gripped his collar is now splayed over his chest.
Sanji
Shh…too loud. And just…can you just give me a sec to take this in? Please?
Zoro furrows his brows in confusion and looks around, trying to make sense of what the blonde is talking about. Then it dawns on him.
It’s just like what he’d seen on the covers of those romantic books about forbidden love. It’s where the suitor breaks in just for a chance to see his beloved by the windowsill. He played the brave man standing outside on the balcony, trying to win his love’s affection, and Sanji is the girl in a fine dress that he’d been chasing. The cool wind blows calmly through them, giving Zoro the rare chance to see both of Sanji’s eyes up close, bright and blue, looking back at him longingly.
Sanji
Can I try something?
Sanji gently cups both sides of Zoro’s face in his hands then pulls him in, his lips just hovering over Zoro’s own. He pauses there, as if giving the swordsman a chance to back off.
Zoro’s head tells him that he should push him away. By all accounts, with everything that they’ve been through and everything that he’d seen him do, he should be repulsed by this.
But his heart screamed louder at that moment. He finds himself unable to move away. Instead, his open eyelid droops down.
Sanji moves in and places his lips lightly onto his. He parts himself away for a second to look Zoro in the eye, carefully assessing his reaction. When the swordsman tips forwards ever so slightly, he takes the hint. He angles his head and clashes their mouths together.
They start their exchange gently, taking in each other’s sensations. When Sanji teases a tongue between Zoro’s lips, it quickly becomes frantic and desperate. They deepen their kiss as their hands keenly seek and explore each other’s skins, sliding under fabrics of clothing and grasping whatever they can in an attempt to pull themselves closer together.
Finally, Sanji forces himself to pull away before it gets too messy, leaving a trail of spit stretching between their tongues. Zoro couldn’t help but follow the momentum as he craved for more. They both take a second to catch their breaths. The swordsman looks into the blonde’s eyes again, then down to his mouth, trying to process what just happened. The feeling of the softness of his lips and the taste of his tongue on his own linger still.
Zoro
That was…
Sanji smiles fondly and lets out a light-hearted chuckle. He wipes the stain of his lipstick off Zoro’s lips, leaning back slightly to admire the strong features of his face while cleaning any proof of his makeup.
Sanji
Zoro… I…
Zoro slides his hands from Sanji's forearms up to his shoulders, then wraps his hands gently around the back of his neck.
Zoro
Curls…don't kill him.
Sanji's smile fades quickly, then he looks at the swordsman in confusion. His expression turns sour.
Sanji
You're trying to protect them…?
Zoro
No! I–
Sanji pushes Zoro by the chest, jerking himself away, taking backward steps.
Zoro fumbles but manages to catch the top railing of the balcony just in time before he could lose his balance.
Zoro
It's not like that! Curls, I am here because I…. Look, if you kill him, they'll send every Admiral and Warlord to get you and I might not be able to protect you from them. They'll send Mihawk.
Sanji
You think I need your protection? You? The person who's been trying to kill me for–
Suddenly, blood bursts out of his nose, staining the front half of his dress.
Zoro
Woah–!
Sanji
–the fuck?!
Sanji cups his hands over his face and runs inside, looking around clumsily for any piece of cloth to stop the bleeding and to clean himself with. Finally he finds facial tissues stashed on a dresser at the far end of the room.
There was a knock on the door. Zoro was about to hurdle over the railing to help the blonde but quickly skirts the balustrade to hide behind the outer wall instead.
Saint Charlos
Everything okay, princess?
Sanji
Y–yes, dear! Don’t come in yet. I’ll be there soon!
The door bursts open regardless. Saint Charlos saunters in.
Saint Charlos
Are you alright? I thought I heard–why are you bleeding?
Sanji
Of course I am. I’m in the house of a mighty World Noble after all. One has to work up the bravery just to be by your side, Your Grace. Nervous jitters.
Saint Charlos
Ah, I see. There's no shame in admitting it. I am magnificent, especially compared to someone like you. Come on then, my slaves will clean you up.
The Celestial Dragon lays a hand on Sanji’s lower back, ushering him through the door where he came from.
Sanji steals a glance behind him, only to find that there’s no one in the room. He uses his haki but can't seem to sense anyone’s presence. He returns his gaze forwards, feeling torn about the whole ordeal.
—
Thick clouds darken the skies and the rain starts pouring heavily. From under the refuge of an especially large willow tree, Zoro looks up and adjusts his hood frustratingly, trying to keep himself dry. His leg twitches restlessly. He keeps thinking about his last interaction with the blonde and tries to make sense of his own actions. He should hate the guy, but he can no longer deny his attraction to him. When he blinks, he realises that he's running his fingers across his lips, unable to shake the lingering sensation of their shared contact. The worst part is, he didn’t hate anything about it at all, nor did he realise that he had any regrets. He grips onto Wado's handle to keep his hands occupied.
He looks down on the trapdoor located just under the tree trunk, silently praying that the tunnel through it is the correct one that Sanji had instructed him to find. He won't, of course, admit to the other man that he'd gone the complete opposite direction initially. Of course he didn't have much luck looking for any secret passages that way. He just kept wandering around until he found an easy pick royal guard to intimidate so he could show him the way and that's how he ended up here. He almost felt sorry for the poor fellow when he rendered him unconscious and dumped his body somewhere hard to find.
The swordsman quietly wonders to himself if the Sanji had anticipated this kerfuffle, and that's why he had given him two whole hours instead of a shorter duration.
He’s lost track of the exact time, but he’s certain that it’s coming close to the two hour mark that the blonde had set. From afar, Zoro tries to look through the mansion window to check on the grandfather clock he’d been watching, but the rain is so heavy now that it clouded his vision of the landscape, barely able to make the silhouette of the house from where he sat.
The swordsman concentrates on his observation haki, detecting five presences running towards him. He stands and draws two blades, ready to strike.
The group of people come to a halt as soon as they see Zoro up close. They gasp in fear and hold each other's hands. They all have tattered clothes and no shoes, and around their necks are fresh purple and yellow bruises. The swordsman recognises two of the men as the ones that carried the Celestial Dragon and Sanji all the way from Sabao Dome but it looks like they had lost their collars.
When he looks down, he sees a small figure trembling madly behind them. A child with an angry red mark on his chest, shaped like a dragon’s claw, exactly like the one on Sanji’s back. His tan skin isn't textured like normal human skin, but instead, has an iridescent shine to it. On the sides of his face where his ears should be are fins covering a set of gills.
Man 1
That scar and the hair…. It’s–it’s the Demon Warlord–Roronoa Zoro!
Woman 1
What…what do we do? I thought Your Highness said that this path is clear?
Woman 2
The Warlord must be working for the Celestial Dragons and has come to stop us!
The swordsman frowns at that statement. He wonders if he's done the right thing all these years, which is a question that's come up quite a lot since starting this mission to find Corazon.
Man 2
Please–please have mercy! Junior here has never seen light! Just let him go, and w–we’ll stay!
Man 1
No, we've seen what they all do to people like us. We're all dead anyway, but I'd rather die fighting! Son, make a run for it!
The man recklessly charges in with a makeshift shiv in his hand. He lunges at Zoro, who steps aside and trips him with the blunt side of one of his swords. The man falls on his face.
Merchild
Dad, no!!!
The merchild ducks between the other people’s legs and charges angrily. He uses his webbed fists to throw punches against Zoro’s stomach.
Merchild
You hurt him!!
Zoro stares at the small figure and senses that the others are shaking in fear, too frozen and afraid to move. He raises his swords–
The others cry out–
–and sheathes his blades back on his hips. He kneels down to catch the child’s fists with his hands and speaks calmly.
Zoro
Did the Pirate King free you?
The first man pushes himself up by the elbows on the ground and spits at him.
Man 1
Don’t hurt him!
Merchild
So what if he did?! He’s a kind man and you’re–you’re–
Zoro lets go of the merchild.
Zoro
Your punches are making my belly itchy, that’s all.
The merchild blinks at him, but stops his assault.
Zoro offers a hand to the man he’d tripped.
Zoro
If you’re looking for the way out, it’s just through that trapdoor behind me. We don’t have a lot of time so grab the torch I set up inside and run. Just be careful, I’m not quite certain what you’ll find on the other side of the tunnel.
There was a moment of silence. It takes a second for the group of people to fully realise that the feared Warlord is on their side. The man on the ground takes Zoro’s hand and the swordsman lifts him onto his feet.
Merchild
Dad!!!
The family reunites. They hug affectionately.
Woman 1
You’re…you’re helping us?
Man 2
We know what’s on the other side. I know where we can find a sloop to get out of this island.
Zoro
That’s not a bad idea. That way we can protect you outside too. Just make sure to stay low and quiet until we get back. Do you know where the Pirate King is now?
Woman 2
He said he’s off to the treasure room and then he’d meet us on the way out but…that was about half an hour ago. We thought he’d caught up to us by then so we just ran out ourselves as soon as we could use the rain for cover.
Zoro nods as thanks and proceeds to walk towards the mansion.
—
Not far from the house, a group of royal guards surround a hunched figure wrapped in a large curtain taken from one of the windows inside. The soldiers charge in one after another, relentlessly attacking with weapons on hand. The figure dodges left and right, occasionally taking swipes against them. The figure knocks back clusters of them each time, but in its weakened state, it’s not enough to take them out. They simply stand on their feet again and begin another round of assault.
A royal guard spears right through the figure from behind.
Sanji’s eyes jolt open, the pain that sears through his chest becomes unbearable when the guard twists the weapon while it's inside him then pulls it out forcefully. He screams, his voice breaking. While overwhelmed, he senses another guard somewhere on his left side swing his sword low, slicing the tendons on both his ankles, dropping him to his knees. He readies himself for another direct blow from a guard wielding a heavy mace right in front of him. Over the guard’s shoulder, he sees glints of three lines shine through the mist of the rain.
There was a heavy gush of wind and a flash of green. Sanji was in too much pain to fully understand what's going on but he could hear the clashing of blades and cries for help around him.
Zoro
Three Swords Style…Tatsu Maki!
A powerful whirlwind forms around the swordsman and Sanji, effectively blowing and damaging the royal guards in its wake. They fly up high in the air and fall roughly on the ground, knocking them out. The one who landed right in front of the blonde somehow stayed awake. The guard writhes and attempts to get up, but Sanji throws a heavy punch reinforced with armament haki across his head, cracking his skull. The blonde speaks in a difficult, huffed breath.
Sanji
I…had it all…under control…Shitty Mosshead.
He tips forwards.
Zoro runs, sheathing his swords and catches the blonde before he falls on the ground. When he angles him back, the curtain that wrapped around him slips off his body. The swordsman gapes in horror, shocked at the sight.
Sanji’s dress had been torn to shreds. He’s practically naked under the curtain cover. His heels are nowhere to be found, only having his bare feet to walk with. He has a deep puncture through his upper chest and a nasty cut across his ankles–both fresh and bleeding from the fight just now. The full lengths of his arms are reddened and scratched. One side of his body has a large purple bruise that spans from his ribs right through to his back. He also can’t help but notice evidence of trauma and a messy cluster of teeth marks along his inner thigh towards his groin. As horrendous as the sight of his wounds may be, the worst detail that the swordsman can see is the large metal clamp that hangs around Sanji’s neck. He recognises them as a slave’s chain.
Sanji
Take a picture. It’ll last longer.
Zoro
…Did he do this to you?
Sanji doesn't move or reply. His hair had become heavily damp in the rain, covering his face. When Zoro dips down slightly, he sees the blonde's lips trembling over gritted teeth. He can't tell if the stream running down his nose is from the rain or from his eyes.
Zoro
Did you kill him?
Slowly, Sanji shakes his head.
Zoro’s eye narrows. He feels his hands tighten their hold on Sanji. A pang of guilt washes over him, remembering their conversation earlier.
Sanji
But I made sure that he can't hurt anyone anymore.
Zoro's hands relax.
Zoro
…Good.
Surprised, Sanji lifts his head to look at the swordsman.
Sanji
Just…”good”? You're not going to ask me what I did?
Zoro
Knowing you, it's probably something unpleasant. I'd rather not know.
Zoro notices the curtains that the blonde had used for cover have fallen on the damp grass underneath him, completely soaked in the rain. He removes his own cloak and wraps the blonde in it, making sure that the hood covers his head before scooping him up into his arms.
—
With one of the men holding out a fiery torch, the liberated slaves lead on through the dark winding passageway while Zoro carefully carries Sanji in his arms behind them. He guesses that they’re inside one of the Sabaody Archipelago’s giant roots, hollowed out so that anyone walking through can potentially cross the entire length of the island without anyone knowing. He starts worrying where they may end up but he trusts the people guiding them, simply because there’s no other choice. They all want one thing–to get out of this place alive.
The swordsman is well aware of others’ subtle glances and pitiful looks at the Pirate King but he tries to ignore them to keep his senses focused on monitoring the blonde’s heart rate and breathing. Sanji’s been falling in and out of consciousness and it’s starting to worry him more each time. He wishes his reindeer friend is with them. He’d know what to do.
Zoro dares a peek at the collar around Sanji’s neck. He frowns at the sight then tears his gaze away.
Zoro
You don’t…happen to have a key for this, do you? Or know how to get it out another way?
Man 1
I’m so sorry… it was him who somehow got his hands on one to get us out but we don’t know what happened to it when we parted ways. The last time I saw him, he didn’t have anything around his neck.
Woman 1
It must have happened when he went to the treasure room. We don’t know how to take it off without the right key. We would have already tried to escape if–
Den-den Mushi
Purupurupurupuru
Everyone jumps at the sound, clearly on edge from the potential dangers that could come their way at any second. They all turn to Zoro who fumbles around, trying to answer the transponder snail while carrying the blonde.
Sanji had woken up from the sound and feebly reached inside Zoro’s open robe. He pulls out the den-den mushi from his breast pocket and holds it out for him in his hand, pressing the button on its shell to answer the call.
Zoro
Hello?
Law
Zoro-ya, it's been…
…where are…y…
…did you get…
…there’s news about…
Sanji looks up to the ceiling then around them. He speaks in a weak voice.
Sanji
We’re probably in the dense area of the root system. It’s interfering with the signal.
Zoro
Traffy, you’re breaking up. Can you hear us?
Law
…they know you’re…
…Pacifistas heading your way…
…need to…
…before Admiral…
Zoro
Tra-guy, we have a friend on Grove 44. Duval of the Flying Fish Riders. I want you to meet us at their base if you can.
Law, if you can hear me, go to–
Den-Den Mushi
Click
Zoro tuts disappointingly at the lost signal.
Woman 2
Pa–Pacifistas?!
Woman 1
Wait–a Marine Admiral is coming too?! To get us?!?
The people around them start shaking uncontrollably in panic. The merchild holds onto his dad’s leg desperately.
Zoro sighs but gestures for them to keep moving forward.
Zoro
Let’s pick up the pace. It’s only a matter of time before someone finds us and I'd rather not get caught up in here. We’d get trapped and surrounded pretty easily.
Sanji returns the snail inside Zoro’s inner breast pocket then gives the others a small smile in an attempt to ease their minds.
Sanji
Don’t worry about the Pacifistas for now. We’re not in any danger until they see us. They’re too reliant on their visuals. As for the Admirals…lazy bunch, all of them. Too slow to act. Besides, my friend here will protect us from harm I’m sure. You said you know where we can find a sloop?
Man 2
Y–yes!
The word “friend” echoes in Zoro’s head.
—
They continue their walk in silence, at an increased pace this time. Zoro didn't want to have them running at full speed in fear that it would open up Sanji’s wounds further. Instead, they had to take longer rushed strides.
In one of the brief moments when the blonde is conscious, he breaks the silence by starting a light-hearted conversation, brightening the troubled mood of the crowd.
Sanji
I got loot like I promised. It’s not exactly money but we can sell it for a lot. The surgeon’s going to freak.
Zoro's serious and tense expression softens. He holds the blonde closer, tucking Sanji’s head between the nook of his neck and shoulder after he notices that his body is cold and shivering.
Zoro
I never doubted you for a second. What did you get?
Sanji pulls a small pouch that he'd secured around his wrist by its loops. The swordsman didn’t even notice that he had it on him, too distracted at the sight of his mangled body earlier. The blonde opens the bag with one hand and pulls out a small dark pebble between his fingers with the other, raising it as high as he could muster in front of Zoro’s face.
Sanji
Pure, unadulterated condensed Seastones, baby.
Zoro's eye widens. Then he grins, genuinely impressed at the man.
Zoro
Wh–what? I've never even seen them in that form before.
Sanji grins a toothy smile up to him. Zoro's heart pounds at the sight.
Man 2
Those things?! They’re Devil Fruit user killers–they're worth almost a million Beri each!
Sanji
I know right! Want one? When we get out of here, you can buy your way anywhere in the world and start a new life.
Woman 1
Your Highness, you can't possibly–
Sanji
Catch!
Sanji flicks a pebble up in the air to the woman who scrambles to catch it in surprise. He does the same to the others. Finally, he gently holds one out to the merchild walking alongside them.
Sanji
Grow up big and strong for me, okay?
The merchild looks at his father, who nods, then takes the pebble from Sanji.
There's a moment of silence, then Zoro hears sniffles coming from one of the women, then the other, then followed by the two men and the merchild that they had freed. They cry their eyes out, thanking the Pirate King and the Warlord as they reach the end of the tunnel.
—
Sanji is unclear what exactly happens next. He knows that he’s been drifting in and out of sleep, blaming his body’s fatigued condition and whatever serum that the Celestial Dragon had injected him with to nullify his strength earlier.
He feels the harsh wind and rain on his face. It looks like the weather has turned for the worst. He hears high pitch sounds of whirring, as if machines are charging up. Then he hears a child scream. Forcing his eyes open, he sees blindingly bright long beams head directly towards them. He wonders if this is his chance to see his mother again.
The swordsman above him quickly takes a step forward, adjusting his hold of him, then swings a sword in three wide movements, redirecting all the beams back to its source. One hits a Pacifista straight onto its face, causing it to explode and knock back the two next to it. Sanji can’t help but smile.
Sanji
Nice… shot….
Zoro
Curls–?! You’re awake! Do you think you can…
Sanji’s vision and hearing gets all fuzzy again, unable to hear the rest of Zoro’s question. His eyes droop weakly, limbs dropping.
Woman 1
…There’s no…
…he’s lost too much blood!
Man 2
…This way, hurry!!!
Zoro
Hold on! Give me…
…anything, just quickly!
Sanji feels a painful pressure against the hole in his chest as the swordsman pushes down a crumpled cloth over it. He thinks that it would be a shame to die now. He doesn’t want to face his mother until he fulfils his promise to help his sister and brothers first. He silently asks her forgiveness for not visiting enough. His world darkens as reality fades once more.
When his eyes open, they’re in the sloop that one of the men had promised. It rocked madly from the torrential weather in the open seas. One of the women and the merchild held him securely in their arms while keeping pressure over his bleeding chest. They’re trying to keep him as stable as possible in the undercover area of the boat.
Outside, he sees the rest of their group all work together to pull a rope on one end of the ship while Zoro pulls a separate one all by himself on the other side. They look like they’re trying to secure the sails above them while dealing with the severe storm.
Sanji
What a nice… family….
Merchild
Hey, uncle! Stay with us, okay?! We’re…
…it’s going to be…
Woman 2
…just about…
…very soon, I promise!
…just hang on!
Man 2
Warlord Zoro! We’re being followed!!
Sanji’s eyes close again. He ponders if the Seastones of the quality he got would help Germa finalise their research. Then he starts wondering if there's a chance that his siblings would enjoy a day out sailing when they finally get emotions of their own without having to rely on those ugly modified helmets. He silently asks them to hang in there.
Sanji
I'm so, so sorry….
When he comes to again, he sees Zoro by himself in the thick of the rain, panting madly. He looks extremely worn and tired.
Bright lights shine from a distance and a continuous barrage of beams break through the fog, directly heading their way. Most hit the water next to them, causing the small boat to rock sideways, almost tipping over the boat at one point. He hears Zoro yell out one of his one-sword style moves as he deflects the beams in one long swipe, sending them off in different directions. He could hear his exhaustion behind his voice.
Man 1
Warlord Zoro! Another rogue wave up ahead!
Zoro
Shit!
Sanji feels the boat shift upwards at a steep angle. He thinks about how much work the swordsman is putting on right now, dealing with Pacifistas, protecting them, and trying to keep their small boat afloat in the storm all at the same time.
Zoro lowers down almost to a kneeling position and takes out a second sword. He swings his blades synchronously in a circle, creating a massive force of vortex that breaks through the rogue wave in front of them. It corrects the angle of the boat, saving them from capsizing.
Sanji
What a… great swordsman…
His words catch Zoro’s attention.
Suddenly there was a nagging sensation from the right. Another beam is heading their way. Sanji predicts that the distracted swordsman can redirect this attack but the aftershock of the impact would heavily damage the roof of the undercover area and the sloop’s already stressed mast.
Sanji reaches out and uses his last remaining strength to pull the nearby woman and merchild down to the floor with him.
His prediction is correct, and the events unfold exactly as he saw it through his haki, saving the woman and merchild from getting caught up in the blast.
Sanji worries about the other members of their family. He’s too weak to think about too many people at once.
Zoro rises from under the debris in front of them. Sure enough, he had used his body to protect the others from the blast by pinning them low to the floor. Relief washes over the blonde.
He sees a series of lightning strikes reign down from the sky that makes his hair stand on end, followed by powerful sounds of thunder and huge explosions from afar.
The blinding light of the sun suddenly emerges above them. Sanji welcomes the warm sensation on his skin. The thick grey clouds part, as if being commanded to. The whirring machine noises from the distant seems to have quieted down.
Zoro groans in exhaustion. He looks around and huffs. When he gazes upwards, a large smile forms across his face.
A heavenly being descends from above, waving a long metallic staff in circles. As it does, the clouds part further, creating an area of calm waters in their immediate vicinity. As the creature of light gets closer, Sanji notices long orange hair flowing beautifully in the wind. He catches sight of an impressive tattoo on its arm. When his vision clears a bit more, he finally sees that their saviour is in the shape of a voluptuous woman riding a small bubble ship floating down to their damaged sloop. She waves at them over the side with a bright smile on her face.
Sanji
An angel… from heaven…?
Zoro
NAMI!!!
----------
I like to think that in every universe, Sanji worships Nami in different ways.
I initially really wanted to draw the balcony scene as an opening to this chapter. The whole kiss kiss smooch shebang. But as I was doing it, I noticed some inconsistencies with Sanji's design. I figured I'd do a character sheet for reference to hone down on it first before I flesh things out too detailed.
Zoro's character design definitely needs some love though. Maybe I'll do his next.

What The Straw Hats Are Like in A Relationship... (One Piece Request)
Pairings: Luffy x Reader, Zoro x Reader, Sanji x Reader, Nami x Reader, Usopp x Reader (All Fluff)
Monkey D Luffy
- Luffy is the epitome of someone who views being in a relationship as just having the Ultimate Best Friend. He loves to collect people who can depend on him, and who he can support and inspire and encourage to be their best and boldest self, and having you as a partner only motivates him to reach his full loving potential.
- Luffy is incapable of limiting the intense amount of physical affection he showers down upon you, regardless of the time, the place, or the present company. He feels practically adrift without a gangly arm draped over your shoulder, or his head resting in your lap. He's 100% guilty of not even realising someone else is in the room when he hasn't seen you in hours, barging around the ship, desperate to fulfil his most basic need to be near you. He'll launch himself at you, wrapping you up in his arms and lifting you into the air for a kiss before you can even protest and point out Nami and Zoro are right behind him. Cue gagging noises that do nothing to quash his frantic kisses.
- Luffy doesn't have much of a sleep pattern at the best of times, but since you came into his life he has completely lost the ability to fall asleep without you. At night his stretching limbs seem to wind completely around you, pulling you closer and making sure there's absolutely no chance of being seperated in the night. If you do need to get up without him for any reason you'll hear the most sorrowful whimpering as you pry his hands off you, breaking your heart until you inevitably see him again, his koala-like nature vigorously renewed by the brief break from your company.
- Without fail, no matter how long the two of you are together, Luffy will never stop marvelling at how happy he is to be with you. He'll smile from ear to ear every single time he sees you, galloping over without a moment's hesitation to scoop you up into a hug. He'll softly sigh out a 'wow' every time the two of you kiss. Whether it's the first kiss or the thousandth, he can hardly believe just how soft and loving your lips feel against his and the flush of warmth it sends through his entire body. He'll giggle basically every time you say his name, like it just sounds so much better coming from you, like you're the only person that was ever supposed to truly see him. Luffy will never take that, or you, for granted.
- Luffy is a constant source of sunlight in the dark and any troubling times you might face. He can never give you enough praise and encouragement, and his smile and support makes you realise just how much you're capable of, especially when you've got the right people around you. But perhaps what's even more special is being the person Luffy turns to when his own brightness is wavering, when he questions himself and his vision. When his smile falters you know it's time for you to be the one to wrap your arms around his waist, feeling his weight collapse against you as suddenly the pressure on him doesn't seem so stifling, and maybe with you by his side he can finally breathe again. His low moments usually pass quickly, but watching his battery recharge as he curls up in your lap is when you really see how much your love means to him.
Zoro
- Love and warmth are all new to Zoro when he finally embraces his feelings for you and admits he can't go on without you by his side indefinitely. He's spent so long perfecting his stoic demeanour, living a life of solitude and self-sufficiency until you and Luffy came along, that he's not sure exactly what he's supposed to do now that he can finally call you his.
- As much as Zoro isn't a fan of publicly displaying his affections, he's never far from your side. Wherever you go, he goes, usually clinging to your hand or with an arm around your waist, his emotionless expression hiding the depth of adoration behind each touch. He wants to look nonchalant, like he never hasn't been your boyfriend, like there's nothing that could come between the two of you, two figures locked in a permanent connection, physically and emotionally. He hopes if that's the message he portrays to the outside world, nothing will dare to challenge him for your attention, or have the nerve to try and separate the two of you, Zoro slowly starting to feel like he's more himself around you than he's ever been in his years alone.
- Behind closed doors he's far more expressive, although rarely through his words. Not one for big beaming smiles, Zoro tends to show his love through the unflinching intensity with which he gazes at you, eyes constantly mapping out each of your features as he draws ever closer. His grip is firm on your waist as his broad chest meets yours, long, slow kisses Zoro's favourite way to try and express the deep adoration that devours him. It's overwhelmingly intense how all-consuming it feels when his focus is solely on you, every fibre of his being pouring out unspoken truths. Every so often a simple 'i love you' or 'i need you' will be whispered through the darkness as his fingertips dig into whatever soft flesh is in his reach.
- As well as his undeniable intensity, you also bring out a certain levity in Zoro you might not have seen before. Sometimes you'll catch him furtively smiling your way, or chuckling at a comment you made just loud enough for him to hear, a weight lifted off his shoulders just from being loved by you. He slowly starts to unburden himself around you, opening up a little more about his past, worrying less about looking a little bit silly when he tries something new, thinking less about how others perceive him, and more about how he wants you to see him. He wants to be his most authentic self, the real Zoro rather than the blank mask he's plastered on his face for far too long. Before you, he feared no one could love the man behind that facade, now he wants nothing more than to be loved for the man he truly is.
- Despite being a man of few words, you never have to worry about where you stand with Zoro, and not just because he is so frequently looming beside you, statuesque in his ability to perpetually be by your side. Whilst his sarcastic sense of humour never grows old, when you ask him how he feels or anything about the bond between the two of you, Zoro will answer honestly. He might not spend hours confessing his every waking thought and feeling, but if you worry your feelings are outpacing his, he'll easily admit that he thinks of little but his future with you, that his every dream is about your smile, that he no longer wants to die by sword when instead he could grow old by your side. Zoro falls hard, and he's never fallen like he has for you, so you never have to worry about what's going on behind his expressionless face, because it's always thoughts of you.
Sanji
- Sanji truly thought this day may never come. It's one thing falling madly in love, heck before you Sanji thought he'd been in love a dozen times before, but it's entirely different loving someone so wholly and so deeply and then finding out they actually like you back. You wanted him. He could scarcely believe it the day you confessed, and he can scarcely believe it every day since, no matter how obvious your feelings are to every other member of the crew. Although any feelings of yours are so overshadowed by the enormity of Sanji's love for you that it's hard for them to pick up on anything else.
- Sanji has spent a lot of time fantasising about what it would be like to finally be someone's boyfriend, so much so that when he finally takes up the role as your partner he feels like his heart might just burst with excitement. He's not sure he can remember the last time he wasn't smiling, his cheeks threatening to ache as he goes about his day, floating almost weightlessly as if carried by thoughts of you wherever he goes. He wakes up with his heart hammering in his chest as your presence floods his senses before his eyes even open, tucking his face into your shoulder so he can breathe you in and taste your skin on his lips before he has to start the day. Some mornings he bursts out of bed to hurriedly make your breakfast, but other days he feels so enamoured by you that all he can bring himself to do is stare longingly at you as his fingertips trace along your skin until finally your eyes blink open. He half expects you to frown at the sight of him, or scorn him for bothering you, feeling entirely undeserving of your love. But instead you show him that soft smile that has him giggling at nothing, pulling him back on top of you with absolutely no resistance as he hungrily captures your lips over and over again.
- Sometimes Sanji can hardly believe your kindness towards him, a fresh flood of adoration spilling out of him at almost every sweet little thing you do. Every time you compliment his cooking he wants to drop to his knees and cry, like his every life ambition has been met because his dish made you smile and hum. When you thank him for having your back in a fight, or for a thoughtful and elaborate compliment he spills out with wide, wonderstuck eyes, it truly takes his breath away, the sweet feeling of being appreciated more than he had ever dared to hope for. Call him 'your love' and the chef will throw his arms around you, squeezing you desperately as his eyes start to well up, choking out how much he loves you in frantic gasps. He takes immense pleasure in returning the pet name, proudly calling you 'my love', 'my sweet', 'my beauty', 'my everything', 'my whole heart', really anything to celebrate his love and to label you his.
- Usually laser focused in the kitchen, you might be the only thing that can distract him from his arts. That doesn't stop his constantly 'suggesting' that you drop by the kitchen company, never wanting to outright ask you for anything as you already give him so much, but his desperately pleading eyes do a good enough job of begging that you often find yourself perched on the kitchen counter next to him, listening to him narrate his moves to you and occasionally swing by for a kiss. But sometimes one kiss isn't enough, and the minute he steps between your knees he's caught in your gravitational pull. The first quick peck reminds him just how sweet you are, just how good it feels to have his affections reciprocated, so he needs more. He needs to slide his tongue between your lips as his hips press closer, hands finding the outside of your thighs to pull you snug against him. When your fingers comb through the hair at the nape of his neck his eyes flutter shut and he has to hold back from moaning into your mouth, touch starved and smitten and not sure how he ever existed in the same room as you without confessing his every obsessed thought.
- Sanji is really not sure what he ever did to deserve you, like at any moment you might pull away and ridicule him for spending so much time bothering you, but as time passes and the love the two of you share only deepens he starts to finally believe that not only can he do everything in his power to make you happy, but that he might actually be the man to deserve to make you happy.
Nami
- The path to Nami's heart would be slow and winding, months of adventure and trust and support passing before she could truly accept that she couldn't live a life that didn't include you anymore. By the time you two are officially an item, there's little about each other you haven't already shared, your love built on a solid foundation of honesty and deeply relying on each other in a way Nami never thought she'd be able to.
- For all the long nights of deep discussions it took to finally be Nami's other half, once you two are finally together your relationship is surprisingly light, effortless and easy. The darkness of well-built walls has been torn down to give way to a sweet dawn of hope for Nami. With you she gets to feel safe again. Safe to pour out her heart. Safe to sleep with both eyes shut as she feels your slow, deep breath on her cheek where she's rolled onto your pillow to never be too far away. Safe to smile and laugh and trust and explore. Truly with you Nami can feel safe to just be happy again.
- The two of you are constantly having fun. You meander through shore line stalls looking for new fabrics Nami can turn into almost matching outfits for the two. You play games and make bets on everything from the weather to how many times Zoro will scowl at Sanji. You two will play fight when you're supposed to be training, rolling around on the mats together until you're both in fits of laughter and all your limbs are so entwined neither of you can, or wants to, move. You enjoy easy nights passed in bars, watching the rest of the crew try and score free drinks when Nami does it effortlessly. You read books, and have sleepovers in the crows nest, and make little trinkets for the cabin you share. You get to have the fun and family and home that Nami never did, slowly mending every childhood scar and deeply dug wound that a troubling life had left imprinted on Nami, until joy becomes her default over sadness.
- After years chained to a table and forced to make maps, Nami takes great comfort in resting her legs in your lap while she draws, asking your opinion on her maps despite your limited understanding of how on earth she constructs them. The things that she had slowly grown to despite start filling her with joy again when you get to do them together. Nami has spent so much time just trying to make it to her goal of freeing her village, never thinking about her own happiness or the future beyond that. But now with you, her future seems wide open, stretching out in front of her like a sunrise highlighted horizon, full of warmth and light and wonderful possibility.
Usopp
- You came into Usopp's life as such an unexpected wonder that he almost struggles to come to terms with his newfound role of boyfriend. Half of his life has been lived in his imagination, dressing up his every memory and adventure until it feels worthy of sharing and declaring to those around him, but now he has you and he can't believe that the best thing that's ever happened to him is actually his reality.
- It feels almost effortless for Usopp to fall in love with you, but being in a relationship takes him a little bit longer to settle into. He finds himself worrying about whether he's told some daring tale that he now has to live up to, like he should be jumping in front of you at every danger and filling every silence with further proof of his bravery. It would take your quiet acceptance of the everyday calm of life aboard the Merry with him to realise that your company isn't dependent on anything but him being himself.
- You'd slowly bring a more honest Usopp out of his shell, realising that he is enough exactly as he is, without embellishment or exaggeration. At the same time the crew would notice he becomes bolder and braver when the situation calls for it, a new source of strength found in his deep love for you. No matter how many times you tell him that he's already your brave hero, in his heart he just wants to keep getting better so he can keep impressing you, and always know that he can keep you safe.
- That doesn't mean he is any less ridiculous of a person in your relationship though. The man is constantly looking for a reason to dance with you, or carry you, or anything that means he gets to hold you close and maybe show off a little, wanting nothing more than to feel your heartbeat against skin as his muscular arms cage you in.
- He also becomes more open about the parts of his past he hasn't shared before; his parents, his obsession with the impending threat of pirates, and the journey that brought him to be a pirate himself. It feels so easy to share with you, letting his words spill out as his head rests in your lap, deep brown eyes blinking up at you as if you were a shooting star in the sky that he's sure could make his wishes come true.
- Usopp is a classic gentleman in some of the ways he shows that he's there for you; opening doors, saving you a seat that he pulls out for you, even standing up when you enter the room. He wants to show you that he's serious about putting in the effort, and the insecure part of him can't help but want to show everyone that he's yours and that he's doing everything he can to try and be worthy of that title.
