"Is everyone alright?" Namgung Su asked. Blood stained his white clothes, and he was panting heavily, as if he had just fought a fierce battle. His usual calm and composed demeanor, however, remained unchanged.
- Chapter 230
While reading this, I suddenly remembered this part from chapter 162:
"Did you just change your clothes?" Baek Suryong asked, clicking his tongue. Namgung Su's pristine white robe was spotless, free from even a single drop of blood or speck of dust, and every strand of his hair was perfectly in place. He must have used movement arts at full speed from the Azure Dragon Academy to the Valley of Evil, yet he still looked immaculate.
- Chapter 162
Damn, Suryong, i think you have the evil eye. Su's clothes are no longer white, clean or pristine.

Heugh ok big time spoilers warning for 1175 (and prior ofc) I'm gonna be rambling so don't expect anything analytic 🫵
GOD OK SO. Its been commented on multiple times throughout the novel that the diciples of Mount Hua (sect leader, elders, 5 swords, etc) want to carry some of the burden that Chung Myung carries. Hyun Jong asks him to trust him and not go after the Myriad Man Manor (I think that's what it was called before they formed the big bad alliance....) in the direct aftermath of the attack on the sect (chapters like. 350-420 ish if I'm remembering correctly?). The 5 Swords try to protect him during that final fight at the north sea when he's been buried in rubble, and then they try to support him again in the first yangzte river battle (the one where the 3 year pacification pact came from) and so on and so forth. This is a VERY COMMON THING.
Everytime they manage to get stronger to protect the sect (lifting some burden off of Chung Myung), the enemies get stronger and the situations get worse. They (being primarily the 5 swords + Tang Soso and Hye Yeon) begin to realize that despite getting stronger, Chung Myung is always at the forefront of the battle in the most danger. They haven't had a single major battle where Chung Myung was not present to help if needed. This also brought up the idea that they are indirectly putting Chung Myung in even more danger because he has to focus not only on the battle, but on saving them if needed (this has ALSO been brought up multiple times but i don't want to give examples so).
Now I know that this isn't Mount Hua's fault, they're being thrust into terrible situations with not great timing, but all of this has STRENGTHENED Chung Myung belief that no one but him can protect Mount Hua to the standard needed. (It's very interesting to note that he has ended up on the OPPOSITE side of the spectrum from his previous life, which Chung Myung actually comments on in chapter 1175!!!). Its been mentioned a lot (by that fuck ass monk Bop Jeong and others) that the success of the Heavenly Commrade Alliance lies damn near solely on Chung Myung back. Even Tang Gunak, Meang So, and Seol So Beak themselves admit that they were initially drawn towards CHUNG MYUNG and not towards Mount Hua. Namgung Dowi is a similar ish case, having been drawn to the Heavenly Commrade Alliance by Mount Hua and the Tang clans's actions at Plum Blossom Island (which Chung Myung lead). Long story short, if Chung Myung did not exist in Mount Hua, there would not be an alliance in the first place (which the novel straight up says).
Another concept that's been brought up lately is what exactly is Mount Hua willing to give up in the name of chivalry. Up until now, every single action taken by Mount Hua has had a positive impact on them while also upholding the chivalrous reputation of the sect. THIS IS WHERE CHUNG MYUNGS CURRENT STRIFE IS COMING FROM!!!! At the current moment he doesn't know what direct he wants to push Mount Hua in. Does he tell Shaolin to fuck off (picking the Heavenly Commarade Alliance over joining the 10 Great Sects) and deal with the inevitable consequences of that (reputation hit and more death among not only commoners but amongst Mount Hua diciples) or does he agree to Bop Jeong's plan and risk everything from the past repeating for the sake of chivalry? He is blinded by his indecision, even mentioning in chapter 1174 that if he were faced with the situation Chung Mun faced with Chung Jin (Chung Jin disappearing towards the end of the war), he wouldn't know what to do and he would "let it all slip from his grasp".
Along with this indecisiveness, he's also agonizing over his importance to the alliance. He is now in a position similar to what Chung Mun held in the past, and he's having a difficult time coping with that. Chung Myung rationally understands his importance, going as far as to say that if he were anyone else, he would never let himself go onto the front lines. The issue lies in his survivors guilt. He wouldn't be able to make the decisions needed for victory if he himself wasn't there to be able to prevent any death he could.
Along comes Baek Cheon, who has been one of the main vocalizers for all the things mentioned above. He notices the things Chung Myung tries to hide. There are many, many times where Baek Cheon is one of the ones that knocks some sense into Chung Myung, but the one I really want to focus on is their interaction in chapter 1175. Baek Cheon, despite all the jokes, is the head diciple of the second generation. Chung Myung is his Sajae, his junior brother. He CARES about him. He doesn't like seeing him not act like an insane asshole. He KNOWS Chung Myung, enough to know his habits as well as his fears and motivators.
He uses his knowledge to comfort him in a blunt way by saying that he will outlive Chung Myung. And oh, isn't that heartbreaking? To acknowledge that Chung Myung would rather spend every day in hell than "allow" a diciple of Mount Hua to die before him (again). Baek Cheon says this as an offhand comment, a subtle reassurance without making it a big thing because he KNOWS that's one of the main things driving Chung Myung. Throughout this entire exchange, Chung Myung unintentional image of being a "perfect human" starts to strip away. He reveals to Baek Cheon that he doesn't exactly know why he holds all of this burden, but that he feels he is the only one who can. (Circling back to the guilt he feels due to his inaction 100 years ago).
Towards the end of the chapter, Chung Myung starts joking that he'll be back to normal soon, that he just has a lot on his mind. This signals once again that he is pushing against Baek Cheons silent offer of support. As they sit in silence, Baek Cheon brings up the question that has been eating at the entirety of Mount Hua for a while. He asks if they were stronger, if HE were stronger, would it have lightened his worries? The final sentence of the chapter indicates that Chung Myung doesn't answer this question.
Chung Myung cares so much about Mount Hua that he continually shoulders on more and more responsibilities because to him, that is the only way to atone for his past inaction. I just wish he could see how much Mount Hua cares about him in turn.

Possible Spoilers in thi AU drawing
AU where Suryong was taken and manipulated by the blood cult and blood demon at a young age.
The future will change soooo much but in this au. Baek suryong's soul was already marked by the blood demon, so the blood cult will know where to get him.
His memories as 27th is greatly distorted so that he will only remembers all of his in martial arts, including the 4 masters and reverse heaven and his current role as the blood demon's successor (The blood demon, most of the time is asleep inside baek suryong, his last vessel was destroyed for suryong's benefit[ the finger in Namgung Clan tragedy] so the blood cult is currently looking for another appropriate vessel) and his history with the 4 apostles and masters are forgotten
One of the pros in this is that Yakbing is alive because the blood cult secretly fed her nourishments for the safe delivery of suryong. YAYY
The 4 masters are having a hard time resting in the afterlife knowing what happened to him.
The 4 apostles doesn't know about suryongs past life and treats him like how they worship the blood demon. (In this AU, since suryong is the current leader of the cult and they are also his apostles, BUT since they feel something towards each other, suryong kept the 4 of them close and is considerate of them. The apostles though are awkward)
About the Cheongryeong Academy, THEY WILL ALL MEET AGAIN, I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW!!
Maybe when the blood demon goes away for a few years to go to his next vessel(I forgot his name lol). Suryong uses this advantage to sneak out of the cult(ofc he doesn't need permission) to spy on the orthodox sect out of boredom and curiosity.
I want everyone in the novel to still meet suryong and he later realises the plan of the blood demon and have a change of heart with the exchange that suryong's identity as the successor of the blood demon is revealed and his future is basically gone, whether in the orthodox or unorthodox faction, and almost all of murim is against him. But his family will never leave him :3
I'll continue this maybe a few days later😅😌
This is rushed and has many plot holes

My progress on my WIP
hit 20k words and read king of pride by Ana Huang - THE BOOK DID NOT FAIL ME. I absolutely loved it. Kai's vocabulary kept me anticipating for the British Chinese man to speak I could hear his voice when ever he said "love", "sweetheart", "darling" and my personal favorite "my love".
here are some new manhwa's to try if you want avoid death
i'm being raised by villains- if you want awkwardness, fluffiness and everyone's fav cuteness then this is it.
A transmigrator's privilege(The Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine)- she dies and is given the chance to pick what genre she wants to enter. she select ROFAN a genre about kids with sad backgrounds get pampered but is given an SSS class novel, with no second chances she is thrown into the world. Now she lives her life knowing she can die at any moment or the world might end. it funny and cute with little fluffiness as spice. PS the art style is beautiful.
Please Give Me the Pacifier- if you like the first one then you would love another cute greed goblin here.
so that's three Female main character now male
The youngest son of the namgung clan- long story short he died and went back in time after being a failure. Now, determined to gather money and move to the country side. and yes, he's already failing.
How to Use a Returner (The Regressor's Instruction Manual)- he priority is surviving.
Trash of the counts family- if this wasn't here then there was no point in this. his whole journey is him snagging important things in the story to survive when the world is in ruin.
And lastly as comic that has been living rent free in my head, i'll keep recommending it. Debut or die- our little puppy, wakes up in another body a few years back the time he remembers. he decided to live his life normally with nothing to worry about when a status window pops up stating he will die in a year if he doesn't debut as an idol

THE RISING DRAGON
Namgung Seung-yong, a witch, developed his powers at a very young age but he wasn’t always talented. He lacked the motivation and passion and often times spent his days lazing about the farm his clan owned and took care of in the province of Jeolla in the southern part of South Korea.
During one of his lazy days at the farm - napping instead of attending to the animals grazing in the field - 17-year old Seung-yong encountered a being that needed his help, a white dragon that got himself stuck in a root of an old underwater tree during a swim in the river. Seung-yong who couldn’t believe his eyes didn’t know what to do at first but plunged into action finally freeing the seemingly weak creature. Upon closer inspection, Seung-yong realized that the dragon was badly injured, large, gashing wounds marked the being’s body and the young witch struggled to figure out how to help the magical creature…
Not long after Seung-yong rescued the dragon, the magnificent creature passed away but not before it handed down its Yeouiju, an orb that held great power, to the young witch. It was said that whoever could wield the Yeouiju would be blessed with the abilities of “omnipotence and creation at will.”
As the dragon took its last breath, the orb bonded with Seung-yong. But Seung-yong was far too young, too inexperienced to learn the Yeouiju’s secrets that he took its significance for granted.
The event that occurred seemed to have affected the life in the area; the Namgung clan, like many clans in the province, faced hardship. Greed and misunderstanding divided the once peaceful Namgung clan, sending members of the family to different directions of the country. Seung-yong, not having the traditional family of his own was forced to leave the place he called home his entire life. The people who claimed the farm did not want his presence and his only choice was to travel and find his own place in the world.
As years passed, Seung-yong discovered the orb’s powers little by little. It gave him great strength and it also heightened his power as a witch. Many more years passed and Seung-yong was able to take form of the dragon that once owned the orb but his purpose as its new Master was still unclear to him… As Seung-yong tried to figure this out, he used the Yeouiju’s powers in the meantime to make a living. As the power of the orb grew stronger, so did he. It also transformed his body, stopping his aging process at the age when he and the orb were powerful together… He took on various jobs; farming, ship work, construction, any work that required the use of strength until he found one work that made him curious enough that he turned his back on any other jobs he knew of doing well.
During his travel in the province of Silla, he heard of a clan that was in search of a strong soldier that would pose as the clan’s heir’s personal guard. Seung-yong, after learning the great amount ready to be paid for the position, did not hesitate and immediately made contact with the family, not knowing what he was getting himself into.
It was the start of his relationship with the vampire Gim Chunghae. The disease the heir possessed didn’t have a name then. Master Chunghae’s condition was just referred to as a sickness that he and his family hope had a cure. Seung-yong took the job that proved to be more difficult than he expected. Bad omen, death followed Chunghae and soon enough, the Master was forced to leave his own hometown due to danger posed to the vampire’s life. Seung-yong meant to leave then, forget about the good-paying job but after leaving Silla with the vampire, he and Chunghae realized that the vampire would not survive alone.
For the next a hundred years Seung-yong accompanied the vampire during his travels but their paths separated at one point due to some indifferences but fifty years later, they met again. Seung-yong had evolved into a great bounty hunter, hunting supernaturals who escaped punishment and sends them where they belong. During this period, he reconnected with Chunghae, falling into the habit of protecting the vampire although the Gim heir was no long as helpless as he once was…
About a hundred years ago, he parted ways with the Gim clan and continued working as a bounty hunter.

Naming Korean Characters
Surnames
We all know Kim, Lee, Park, etc. And those really are extremely common. Kim alone account for over 21% of the South Korean population as of 2014, meaning 1 in 5 people are Kims. (Hi, I’m one of them)
However there are hundreds of surnames in use, not including the foreign surnames that foreign-born Koreans carry into the system when they’re naturalized.
Surnames are generally 1 letter (in Hangul) but 2-letter surnames like 황보(Hwangbo) and 남궁(Namgung) exist.
Wikipedia does have a comprehensive list of Korean surnames.
Korea had a rigidly patrilineal surname laws up until very recently. It was not until 2008 that it became possible at all to give children their mother’s surname (though exceptions were in place for children with unknown or foreign fathers) and even then there were restrictions. Those restrictions were lifted in 2021.
Some people, particularly feminists, choose to use both their mother’s and father’s surnames in their lives, but it is not legally recognized in South Korea.
Bon-gwan
본관 is usually translated to clan, although it is a uniquely Korean concept (it originated from China but to my knowledge, it is not in common use in China) that the word “clan” doesn’t fully contain in my opinion. Bon-gwan is family origin, essentially a city that your progenitor was based in. “Same” surnames can be of different clans. Gyeongju Kim and Gimhae Kim may both be Kims but they are different lineages. This is probably not all that relevant in contemporary fiction, but the more you know, you know? There are sub-clans to clans but we will not get into it. A lot of people, including myself, don’t even know our own sub-clans. Clans have legal significance in South Korea but the law doesn’t get into sub-clans so a lot of us have stopped caring... lol
Given Names
It’s common for overseas Koreans to use the names in the languages of the countries they live in, so it’s only realistic that your Korean-American character is named Alice Kim or something like that. They might still have Korean names their parents call them by. So it’s something to think about while building your character.
For example, in my WIP my characters Christian, Cindy and Cordelia are all named that way because they are Korean-Americans. But they all have Korean names as their middle names. Christian and Cindy’s parents occasionally call them by their Korean names.
Korean given names are generally two letters, although one-letter given names aren’t all that uncommon. South Korea’s legal limit to given names is five letters. The law was introduced in 1993, there was no limit before then. So those who were born before 1993 may have even longer names.
Many Korean names are based on Hanja (Chinese characters) but native Korean names exist. Korean Supreme Court has rules about what Hanja can be used in names. The rules were introduced in 1991 so people born before then may have any Hanja in their names. Here’s a list of Hanja for names with Hangul readings. It’s... a whole fucking lot.
Our names are meaningful, as names usually are in many cultures. For example, my name is 지현(Jihyun, 智賢) meaning knowledge and wisdom. Consider thinking about your character’s personality and traits, and try incorporating that to their names maybe.
List of Native Korean Names I Think Are Pretty
Note that a lot of these are considered “girly” names.
가람 (Ga-ram, archaic word for river)
가을 (Ga-eul, autumn)
겨울 (Gyeo-ul, winter)
고운 (Go-ul, pretty, kind, gentle)
나래 (Na-rae, archaic word for wings)
누리 (Nu-ri, the world)
다솜 (Da-som, archaic word for love)
단비 (Dan-bi, sweet rain)
별 (Byeol, star)
봄 (Bom, spring)
랑 (Sa-rang, love)
새벽 (Sae-byeok, dawn)
샛별 (Saet-byeol, Venus planet)
슬기 (Seul-gi, wisdom)
여름 (Yeo-reum, summer)
이슬 (Yi-seul, dew)
하나 (Ha-na, one)
하늘 (Ha-neul, sky)
Romanizations
There are several different “rules” when it comes to romanizing Korean, but names often don’t follow the typical romanization table for several reasons.
One reason is that when Koreans first began immigrating to USA, they chose romanizations that are similar to existing English names or words to assimilate better. That’s how 김, 이, 박 came to be Kim, Lee, Park respectively, even though Gim/Ghim, Yi, Bahk would have been more accurate transliterations.
Another reason is that the romanized version may have negative connotations. For example, you don’t want to romanize 강 to Gang because it indicates organized crime, so Kang is used instead.
As I said earlier, Korean names are generally two letters and they are commonly hyphenated like the way I listed the native Korean names above. However, I choose to romanize without hyphenation. It all comes down to personal choice.
Initial (Sound) Law
What the fuck is this now? Well, simply put, ㄹ can’t be the first sound, and ㄴ can’t be the first sound in some occasions. This rule only applies to South Korean, North Korea doesn’t have this rule.
That’s why in Crash Landing on You, the North Korean man 리정혁(Ri Jeong-hyeok) has a surname 리 while South Koreans wouldn’t have that surname. They would be 이 instead.
ㄹ as a beginning sound is turned into ㅇ or ㄴ.
ㄴ in some cases are turned into ㅇ.
However here are South Korean people who have the surnames like 류 Ryu, because they insisted on keeping their name and got the law changed to accommodate these exceptions. People who didn’t protest as much... their surnames have been turned into 유.
It’s confusing as fuck... I know. All I’m saying is try to stay away from giving your (South) Korean characters Korean names that start with R/L unless you have a good reason to make an exception.
If you have any writing questions regarding Korea and Koreans, my ask is open! Happy writing.

Dark and destructive were the words used to describe a witch named Yurim. Banishment was the judgment passed by his own clan and community. Upon his death, Yurim’s still beating heart was transferred into the body of an unsuspecting human. Enter Eun, a well known international musician who suffered from a debilitating heart disease. A transplant was the answer to save his life, however, the complications that followed the surgery left Eun in need of home care. A live-in nurse provided by his record company was tasked with his full recovery. That’s when Eun noticed peculiar changes in himself – Affects on the people and things around, especially when he experienced great emotions, like anger. Was he crazy or worse cursed? Then there was the black dog constantly circling his property in Seoul. All of that was the least of his concern – The nurse who supposed to care for him was actually an assassin sent to end his life by the same coven who banished Yurim many years before Eun’s time.

"I'll go to the new instructors," Namgung Su volunteered, making a beeline toward the new instructors' dorms while his brothers panicked and scurried about like headless chickens.
Wow, imagine having two very useless older brothers. Namgung Su could relate.
And where is Mi? That little girl. I hope she doesn't get entangled in this

UNDER THE MOON
Timeline: 10th December 2018, Sunday, past midnight... Location: Namgung farmhouse… Lying on a tree branch in one of the trees inside the compound, looking at the moon. Mood: Confused… Worried… Confused... Attire: White kimono... Music: Nocture Op. 9 No. 2, Chopin
PART ONE
“It’s not safe for Prince Korain to remain in this area, Mamuro.”
Those were Zakai’s first words to Mamuro once they were alone. Mamuro’s initial thought was to challenge the remark; what did Zakai know about the fae Prince’s safety when this was the same soldier who caused the deadly attacks on Sacred Pines. And yet, here was the traitor, standing inside the enchanted farm that had been his and the Prince’s safe lair for the past weeks... What made him open the gates to the soldier? Was it the Princess that stood next to the warrior? Or the fact that this was Prince Korain’s better half, seeking the fae to bring home.
“And where would be the safe place for the Prince?” His response to the soldier, meanwhile questioning his intentions. Since when was it his concern whatever happened to the Prince? Since somehow his hoshi no tama was in the fae’s possession... Ah, that’s right. His precious star ball which he hadn’t had any success on retrieving... This whole crisis with the fae kingdom and the vampires, this wasn’t his fight, he reminded himself. He only wanted his star ball so he could go back home and continue on with his life as a kitsune. Why should he be concerned what the Prince would want to do with his own kingdom, his own people. Why should he worry about the Prince and his lover’s treachery? Somehow he intertwined in the story that he didn’t seem to fit or so he thought at first he didn’t - Until he began seeing visions, dreams, meeting beings he had connection with - demons, witches - without knowing any of them before and after his punishment...
“But I suppose it’s not my place to question you,” he quickly added, lifting his chin as he drew out a breath, keeping his gaze on the soldier who stared at him with such curious eyes... He wondered what thoughts went through the shapeshifter’s head? “I have a business deal with the Prince. Something that is binding,” he reached out his right hand, revealing it to the soldier from under the arm of his kimono. Right on top of his hand was burnt mark that appeared in his command. “Prince Korain bears the same mark. Once it is fulfilled and I receive my payment, we part ways.” He saw even more curiosity sparked in the soldier’s eyes, slightly squinted as the continued to watch him in such a peculiar way.
“Is something the matter?” Mamuro couldn’t help but asked.
“You are working for Prince Korain, you said?” Zakai repeated what was shared. “Is this the reason why he left Sacred Pines?”
“I promised him to help find his lost friend, Haru,” he confirmed. “He was taken by the vampires...” He continued, eyeing the soldier this time. “You wouldn’t happen to know where they keep the servant?” His tone sharp, letting his suspicion bleed through his words. However, there was something wrong with the suspicion he’d repeatedly accused the fae of; if Prince Korain was involved in the attacks and was working with Zakai all this time, why was Haru taken?
But it didn’t have to make sense, does it? The vampires are entirely different beings, entities that were of the dark and they have their own set of rules. With what he had seen and gathered, this clan of strong vampires not only think everyone else around them were prey, blood bags, but that they were also superior. There was no exception when it comes to thirst and hunger. Haru was just a servant, his position in Prince Korain’s life meant nothing to the vampires, ally or not.
Zakai seemed unaffected by his display of emotions of distaste and took his time to say anything.
“You believe what everybody else was saying,” the soldier then started. “That I was a traitor. I sold Sacred Pines to the vampires...”
“Is there another story that I should’ve heard and believed?”

Youngest Son of the NamGung Clan
[NEW MANHWA RECOMMENDATION] Title: Youngest Son of the NamGung Clan Read on Link full: https://manhwafull.com/manga/youngest-son-of-the-namgung-clan/ Genre(s): Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Martial Arts Summary: This is the story of NamGung DeSo, the youngest son of the NamGung Clan! Can the former trash of the clan make the most out of his second chance at life? 남궁세가 막내공자 #manhwafull,#comic,#webtoon,#topmanhwa,#topmanhua,#topmanga,#manhwa, #manhua,#manga,#newmanhwa,#newmanhua,#newmanga,#manhwarecommendation,#manhwatop,#zinmanga

“Sooner or later, word will spread that I am an agent planted in murim by the Blood Cult. And rumors will circulate that the reason why the Namgung Clan wants to kill me is because I killed Namgung Tae Wi.” Choi Jung Soo’s tone, which sounded like someone who went out to rest and spoke as he felt the gentle spring breeze, was followed by Cale’s nonchalant words. “Oh, and of course, the rumors about the Imperial Palace and Murim Alliance. The Beggars’ Gang will be spreading it secretly.”
They are so brothers your honor

Without looking back, Namgung Su replied plainly, "As long as that damned bastard doesn't have any baggage dragging him down, he could fall into hell and still climb back out alive. You should be more worried about your own survival."
Yup, that's Suryong alright. I'm glad that despite not being very close friends, Su has so much trust in him. Suryong will crawl back up from hell, or destroy the heavens and jump down to earth. That's our Suryong. And my dear Su understood this perfectly.
And where the hell are you Suryong??!! We need you! There's a freaking Zombie Apocalypse within the Namgung clan!!

Cale silently agreed as he had a hunch that it would be troublesome to get involved with the Namgung Clan given their attitude.
