The way I cant explain it, but Cowbell and Mountain give me familial vibes? They are definitely related in some way.

They both strike me as the Ministry's very large, lanky, soft spoken ghouls. Yet they are the resident Eldrich horror forest creatures who bring their mate dead animals as presents.

I just have many thoughts and feelings about them

Do you think maybe it takes a long time for the ghouls to learn to be “human?” Do you think it takes them a long time to adjust to having food served to them instead of having to hunt for it? Do you think sometimes they feel uncomfortable sleeping on a mattress because it’s too soft and they feel like maybe they don’t deserve it?

I can imagine newly-summoned Dew hiding under his bed and hissing at anyone and everyone. Rain refused to come inside for weeks and stayed in the lake and swam to the bottom whenever someone came near. I think Mountain longer for the grass and the trees and it felt like torture to be inside instead of in the woods.

Syrens can’t speak on land.

Rain gets summoned and isn’t used to not being able to talk. He’s a deep-sea Ghoul, rarely breaking the surface of the water so he’s only ever gone short periods of times not being able to speak.

Water Ghouls have their own type of sign language so they can commune above water and even under the water if they’re hunting.

When Rain is summoned he is not only silenced due to the amount of time he has to spend above water, but because none of the other Ghouls know sign, and the sign the humans have is different and makes no sense to Rain.

Rain also can’t write been as water, paper and ink don’t exactly mix so he never learned.

He just resigns to nodding and shaking his head and trying to mime as best as he can.

That’s until one day when the Fire Ghoul that has a Water’s name sneaks into his room and raises his hands, making the familiar shapes of infernal sign.

“I’ll be your voice. The voice I never had when I was summoned.”

Okay okay..... I was thinking a lot about this last night but I wholly believe that Alpha is the only fire ghoul able to do something like Ghost Rider's 'Penance Stare'?

For those who don't know what it is: The 'Penance Stare' can cause and induce a variety of negative effects in beings who have sinned or committed evils by locking eyes with them, condemning them with the effects that can cause them a great deal of suffering and torment (reference)

I was specifically thinking about that one scene in Ghost Rider (2007) where he does it to the thug in the alley.

To me, Alpha has mellowed out in his old age and being on the surface but that's not to say that in the early days he didn't enjoy tormenting the true evil beings of the world. Trapping them in their own mind, paralyzed with fear by visions of hell and demons. He doesn't do it anymore, and hasn't for a while, but he definitely hasn't forgotten how.

It's his own little ✨thing✨. You think Quints are bad for getting in people's heads? Imagine a fire ghoul being able to do it. It's 10x more terrifying.

I'd imagine he did it once by accident when he was a young adult and it scared him shitless to see the person completely unresponsive but not dead. Just stuck in their own mind prison, their eyes reflecting the fires of Hell. As he got older and practiced it more he was able to do a lot more with it, control a lot more of what he made his victims see and how deep he was planting it.

He's only ever used it to kill once.

That made him one of the most feared ghouls in the Ministry for sure, but also one of the most feared in the Pit. He strikes me as being a kind of... Knight of Hell? Just watch out, when his eyes shift from their normal red/orange to the crackly, firey lava - you're cooked fam.

The Stare is as powerful as the sins of it's victim.

"Look into my eyes... Your soul is stained by the blood of the innocent... Feel their pain."

Sum: the morning after with Swiss

“Oh good your up,” a soft voice lulls you out of your sleep.

You open your eyes, meeting the morning sun shining through the bedroom window. A chilly but warm breeze dancing in the curtains.

“Hm?” You rubb your eyes, attempting to asses the person infront of you.

“We’re gonna be late for breakfast,” he says, as you notice the multi ghoul getting dressed infront of you.

You can’t help but get flustered at how his hand caresses your cheek and tucks hair behind your ear as he pulls on his jacket.

“My love?” He asks again with a chuckle, zipping up his boot.

You shiver in embarrassment as you realize where you were and under what circumstances. You had hung out with him the night prior, but it leaned towards another direction and here you find yourself in nothing but his soft linens this morning. The taste of his lips still lingering on your skin as you recall everything that had occurred, even the confessed feelings.

“What time is it?” You ask, holding the bedding close around your nude body as you sit up.

“Breakfast time, here, I…uhm imagine you need some clothes? They took laundry already.” Swiss says with a sheepish smile as he glides a hand over his curls.

“Oh…uh yes…” you nod slightly, a small croak in your voice from early morning.

Swiss hands you some fresh clothes from his drawer, a pair of boxers, sweatpants and a simple long sleeved shirt.

“Thank you eh…” you still don’t have the courage to get dressed infront of him even after last night.

“Oh! Right! Sorry heh,” he apologizes sweetly as he turns around to give you both privacy and so he can grab his bag from the closet.

Once you’re dressed, you leave a moment to appreciate the sound of the birds singing in the abbey’s gardens. The fresh scent of flowers filled the hallway as you both stepped out, the smell of delicious warm food gets stronger the closer you get to the dinning hall.

It’s oddly quiet other than siblings of sin in the hallways, but there is no speaking between you and Swiss.

Until you finally say something, “uhm…so…about last night…”

Swiss looks at you, almost like he’s worried. “Yeah?”

“Uhm….sorry if I…crossed a boundary and made you uncomfortable, I’ll be sure to give you some space today…” you sheepishly say.

Swiss only looks at you surprised, “hm? What do you mean? I kind of wanted to see if you wanted to help me in the kitchens today.” He smiles softly, “besides, you didn’t pass any

Boundary other than my clothes.” He jokes as you both cringe at its lack of humor.

“I didn’t know you would still want me around,” you laugh slightly, tho you really did wonder if this was a one night stand or something that would last forever.

“I’d be a fool, a dead one too.” He says with seriousness as he wraps an arm around your waist as you continue down the hall.

“Oh I..I uhm I see.” You say nervously as his sparkly eyes glisten in the sun, something you’ve always loved.

“Besides, who wouldn’t wanna be around those they love?” He smiles

Thinking of hug obsessed Aeon.

Whether it's a standing one, on top of someone's chest or even being spooned from behind-- he'll take it whatever way he can get it. The hugs form each ghoul are unique-- satisfying a different need in him.

With Mountain, he likes how he can almost cover his body up with his own large frame. With Dew, he's a personal warmer. When he had his occasional panic attacks during those first few weeks of being topside, his go-to was Aether. He'd always sprinkle in just the right amount of his magic, always enough to soothe his racing mind.
