when i said that mha ripped off naruto (which i said only to piss off mha stans anyway) I didn't mean to sound like i was praising naruto. it was actually more like a sigh of disappointment, a reaction to seeing that all the problems that naruto had as a show transpired trough mha too and i was tired because watching naruto was enough for me but then i realized that my problem actually is that i can no longer stand watching shonen anime and i chose not to tire myself by cringing at the repetitive tropes and cliches anymore

Naruto the Ramen Man

This is an au idea that has been rattling around my brain long enough that I had to drop it here or risk swelling from it bouncing off my grey matter like a ping pong ball.

In another universe, Teuchi is actually the first good connection that Naruto has. In that universe, after leaving the orphanage, Teuchi takes Naruto in and begins teaching him the family trade, even offering him the his last name Rachi, which Naruto happily accepts becoming Naruto Uzumaki Rachi. Iruka comes into play earlier here as he sees Naurto behind the counter and goes through his little crisis over the nine-tails. Therefore, by the night of the Uchiha Massacre, Naruto has a makeshift little family. Afterward, Iruka and Teuchi are scared, and Iruka, having the ear of the Hokage, knows a very minimal bit about what this all means but homes in on the idea brought up that Naruto should begin his training as a Ninja earlier now that Konoha is missing a major power. Horrified, Iruka goes to Teuchi and with Ayame come to the decision to make Naruto disappear.

In the chaos the Massacre creates, Iruka is able to slip in and fudge the paperwork with no one the wiser, changing them to show that "Naruto" was staying with another family. Thus some other blue-eyed blond-haired kid "becomes" the Jinchuuriki. Even the name Naruto is easily forgotten as the only ones at this point that know his name outside the family are really just Kakashi and the Hokage. To the rest he is just he Jinchuuriki.

Anyway, the paperwork gives them time to sneak Naruto out, who is more than happy to comply as rather than a ninja, he dreams of being the greatest (ramen) chef. Teuchi leaves Ichiraku to Ayame and takes Naruto out of Konoha to the capitol of the Land of Fire. There he sets up another restaurant but focuses on trying to gain enough renown and following to make it into the Daimyo's favor and court.

At this point I'm not quite sure what happens. I think that maybe Teuchi gains favor but not enough to serve in the Daimyo's court and Naruto makes it his dream to someday serve food there as the favored chef. In Konoha, I think that Iruka is playing 3d shogi with the paperwork, and managing the human element best he can. He successfully 'frames' some other kid as the Jinchuuriki, which he feels bad about, but this kid already has a support system and Iruka looks after them as well. Ayame takes over Ichiraku and it continues to grow. Once a year or so, she hires Iruka for a C-rank to escort her to the Capitol to visit her 'aging father.'

I was thinking that maybe Asuma would have met Teuchi in the Capitol, but they would likely have just missed each other as he returned to Konoha following the massacre. To clarify, the paperwork shogi only works because Teuchi has kept Naurto away from the masses and only the old orphanage director would probably know the difference. I also think Teuchi stepped in before Naruto was given the apartment and the Hokage became more involved with his life. So the police have all these files on the Naruto Situation, but otherwise it isn't really public knowledge. So Iruka can easily slip in and alter the files to say another family took in Naruto and Teuchi is only noted as being a favorite vendor who occasionally feeds him for free. Iruka can also remove his name from the file completely.

I know that this whole situation is still percarious though, and that the minute Kakashi or the Hokage actually look at the kid they will know whats up. It would be interesting though, if the Hokage doesn't actually see 'Naruto' for years though and prefers to speak with the parents. He goes to them and explains the barest bit of the situation, gives them a stipend and leaves, feeling a bit sad that 'Naruto' agreed to change his name. On the flip side, the couple have a very concerning/confusing conversation with the Hokage followed by a more comforting conversation with one academy teacher who has been minding their son. The son is adopted so the name change isn't worth questioning. So some kid is just living a slightly outcast life but still thriving due to his loving family and teacher.

When Kakashi eventually leaves ANBU, that's when things really start going to shit. Once he finally manages to surface a bit from his depression (to an extent) he takes one look at the kid and goes "that's not Minato's kid what the fuck." Cue him absolutely tearing ROOT apart in his search for Naruto and coming out the other side going, "oh ok so the Hokage isn't stupid he just doesn't care. alright." He seriously considers assassination attempt #2 but doesn't know who else could take over. So after basically tearing Konoha a new asshole and leaving the Hokage to deal with the upset and Danzo, he 'requests' to visit Jiraiya in heavily implied language as he is sure the Hokage must have sent him there to be protected. (A solid plan worthy of a Kage and Kakashi isn't happy he wasn't in the know but whatever)

So Kakashi finds Jiraiya and basically has a minor panic attack when he realizes that Naruto isn't there either. I think this also might be the point where he starts to try connecting the dots on the idea that the Hokage isn't actually aware that the 'Jinchuuriki' isn't actually Naruto. So he bolts back to Konoha after a spectacularly awkward conversation with Jiraiya -- who is exceedingly confused about the whole encounter and just glad to be in one piece afterward -- and Kakashi starts digging into the paperwork. Iruka is immediately on his ass, traking what he knows and trying to figure out why Kakashi would be interested in Naruto. The two play a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game via paperwork until Iruka starts to realize all that Kakashi has done to try and find Naruto and realizes that it wasn't at the Hokage's behest.

So Iruka actually makes contact with with Kakashi, realizing that he could be an ally rather than the ruin of everything. Slowly Iruka learns the concerns Kakashi has about Naruto's safety and the valid political concerns of a Jinchuuriki-less hidden village. (I'm not saying they scheme to kidnap someone from another village but it'd be funny if Iruka got Gaara and the villages played musical Jinchuuriki, acutally managing to put most of them in better situations. And confusing the hell out of the Akutsuki.) Iruka melts like butter at the genuine care Kakashi seems to have for his sensei's son even if he hasn't been around until now. Kakashi gets close enough that Iruka tells Ayame to request Kakashi for her annual trip to the capitol. Ayame is a customer service master and can lie with the best of them and is able to play it off as a crush on the new ninja seen about town (since Kakashi was basically a non-entity before now). Kakashi takes the mission at Iruka's insistence, and brings Kakashi to meet Naruto. Though I'm 100% sure Iruka chakra seals/barrier seals the hell out of Kakashi before the big reveal.

If Iruka has played his cards right, then he is able to imply that this is all done on the Hokage's orders and Kakashi accepts it because that makes way more sense than a Chuunin and two Ramen Chefs being able to pull one over on the Hokage. Iruka also implies that Kakashi has been brought into the 'op' and thus Kakashi becomes Naruto's new big brother as he is apparently a 'ninja chef' that started working with Ayame at Ichiraku. Iruka might also imply that Naruto can know about his parents and Kakashi fucking clams up and flees. He does come back a year later though as a part fo the 'op' and actually tells Naruto about Minato and Kushina. He doesn't mention the 4th Hokage thing and never the nine-tails thing as they are village secrets (though Naruto has been aware of his 'passenger' for years by now).

Naruto obviously thinks a ninja chef is the coolest thing he's ever heard of and wants Kakashi to teach him. Kakashi 'understands' this to be his part of the 'op' and teaches him some basic chakra control exercises as well as leaving some basic fuuinjutsu scrolls. He is called to the Capitol again within a week because the Daimyo is convinced an enemy ninja has been terrorizing the town. Its really just Naruto attempting too much fuuninjutsu. Kakashi sits him down for a serious talk about limits and then tracks down an actual enemy agent to present to the Daimyo.

Throughout the following year, Kakashi takes a lot of missions in or passing though or by the capitol. This has the unexpected side effect of the Daimyo taking a shine to him and the Hokage more seriously working to develop him as the successor. I like to think the whole charade/comedy of errors (via iruka) ends with Kakashi watching the Hokage finally realize that the 'Jinchuuriki' in Konoha is a fake and internally panicking only for Kakashi to be like 'wait what about the op?' and casually explain Naruto's location and 'progress' with chakra and fuuinjutsu. And Hiruzen who has executed Danzo at this point and watched Kakashi single-handedly find the unknowingly lost Jinchuuriki and lay sweeping change to Konoha via the Daimyo's ear and ANBU contacts, just quits on the spot going "ah you have passed the test" and then fucking off leaving Kakashi with the hat. Like a week later I like to think that Tsunade fucking punts Jiraiya through the office door and demands to know what the hell is going on that Jiraiya is panicking over Naruto being missing/dead, only for Kakashi to go "oh thank goodness" frisbee the hat onto her head and dip.

Tsunade’s arms were crossed over her chest as they stood before the front window. Jiraiya shook his head, a heavy feeling in his gut. "This is worse. I've seen that kid at signings before."

It was evident they were still wary, though they had eased with time. You figured this would have to be something they got used to - you had been single for a long time, after all. So Obviously, Orochimaru trained team seven to get team Taka but what about the others? does team Tsunade collectively push a wall down in one of Orochimaru's hideouts and adopt Taka? Does team Jiraiya find them whilst traveling with Jiraiya?

For Jiraya ->

He found Karin while in a mission to try to locate/destroy Orochimaru's hideouts, while Sakura learned senjutsu, so only Sasuke and Naruto came with him. This is pre shippuden Karin so she is captivated by Naruto's warm chakra and Sasuke's not so rare smile (let me give her this! Let her see him smile!). So they take her back to Konoha where Tsunade can take care of her (Uzumakis yay) and she can help direct them to other hideouts. Soon they find Suigetsu and Juugo too, for Suigetsu team 7 makes a deal with him to get his help if they show him where Zabuza's sword is (Naruto is not happy about it). For Juugo it would be a whole process, very delicate and all. But Sakura would manage him with her sage mode (Karin decided she's her favorite of team 7 that day)

Team Taka (they would need a new name) becomes team 7's support team, they follow them, help and protect them :)

For Tsunade ->

Team Hebi is the new sound 4 in the making and they become team 7's biggest rivals. Pre shippuden they meet and clash a few times, during shippuden it becomes a big thing. They get in the way of each other's plans, whenever there's a possibility that Hebi will be involved, Tsunade sends team 7...But they also slowly learn about each other, their powers and patterns. One time Naruto is send with another team, bc there's a chance one of them might be there, and ends up with he and Juugo fighting when someone gets hurt, Naruto can't leave him and needs to go heal the person. Juugo then just switches off and walks away, he knows by now Naruto would do the same for him in a pinch. Maybe another time Sasuke and Sakura manage to corner Karin only to realize the reason it had been so easy was because she's injuried or Orochimaru had just done some experiements on her and she hadn't fully recovered. They know she won't let them treat her so they also just let her escape.

It goes like this, Orochimaru vs Tsunade's little favorites, until they all need to team up to stop Jiraya's once little favorites a.k.a. Akatsuki.

Since I know a lot of people think naruto had a lot of retcons involving itachi, likely due to not rewatching the original naruto with that info, id like to tell yall about why itachis character was likely planned out as far back as he actually appeared in naruto, and more easy to prove was that he was jirayas spy.

Itachi worked as a spy for the leaf, only the elders knew the truth and the only one he would trust is hiruzen who was his likely handler

During the chunin exams jiraya is called back to the village knowing orochimaru had infiltrated it, fearing his death he needed to make sure to prepare his likely successor.

Right after hiruzens death would have become international news itachi infiltrates the village under the guise of obtaining the nine tails when the leaf was most vulnerable, in reality it would be to make contact with his new handler.

Jiraya is distracted by a woman under genjutsuwho was likely an introduction point, he then appears in front of itachi holding her as a way to say "I got your message" without anyone else knowing, before looking directly into itachis eyes and we never see itachi take advantage of this. This was likely where they talked through genjutsu.

Afterwards itachi uses his amaterasu, likely giving the leaf info incase they ever need to fight him.

Then what does jiraya do? Whip out a scroll that can seal amatarasu away and tells naruto how the flames work. Why would he have the scroll readily accessible and that knowledge unless they were supplied by the woman under genjutsu.

The barrier was updated to have a new password after this but it was fine cause itachi now had access to his new handler incase he needed to return again.

Itachis whole actual character was likely decised during the writing of the chunin exams right before he actually was a character and not a name with a single deed attached.

Also I think kisame was at least partially aware of all of this.

While not pro leaf he didn't care for the akatski either. His only allegiance was to his allies.

What did he do when itachi died? HE LEFT THE AKATSKI RIGHT AWAY.

Yes he and itachi weren't initially close and seemed to be adversaries somewhat but at the point of the show we see kisame not just protect itachi but even worry about his health and tell him to not stay out of the rain so he doesn't catch a cold . His last thoughts were about itachi. He only rejoined the akatski due to learning tobi was an old ally and this itself seemed like an odd decision only made to get him back in the plot.

I'm not sure if kisame knew everything but he clearly understood what was going on to enough of a degree to go along with what itachi wanted

KNY X NARUTO AU???

MAIN PLOT: 

Basically, Kumo successfully kidnaps Hinata, she grows up there in the care of Kanae’s family(who basically see her as their own child). Kumo makes Hinata take on a new name, which is Kocho Shinobu (Hinata does not remember her name or last name well due to being 3 when she was kidnaped). Years pass, and both Kanae and Shinobu become missing nin when they leave Kumo, half because they don’t feel like being a shinobi is the right thing for them, and half other motivations. 

They both have a knack for kenjutsu(weapons based fighting) and end up catching wind of the demon slayer corps when they are funnily enough, in the land of fire. At this point Konoha knows that there is an unaccounted for Hyuuga running around the land of fire. Due to them thinking Hinata is dead they don’t realise that oh shit, that’s the missing Hyuua heir.

They end up joining the demon slayer corps when Kanae was 14 and when Shinobu was 13. Events in cannon follow after this (Kanae dying, finding Kanao and Aoi, etc etc). Years pass and Shinobu becomes a Hashira. Throughout the years, Shinobu gets flashbacks of living in the village hidden in the leaves in brief glimpses, including shinobi training and usage of the byakugan. Shinobu trains her byakugan, but chooses not to use it unless absolutely necessary. On the run up to Shinobu’s fight with Douma, Shinobu and the demon slayers that are there in cannon (+Tengen and Rengoku maybe still active/ alive hashira due to Mugen Train and entertainment district turning out differently or being slightly stronger?) team up with a group of shinobi(rest of Konoha 12 + their teachers) that have been sent from Konoha to get rid of Douma. After initial surprise because oh shit, that's the missing Hyuuga heir, they team up to fight against the upper moons (fire jutsu,  chakra conductive metals and maybe the rasengan and other jutsu’s like that come in clutch here).

After the battle,the KNY characters that die survive. Hinata Shinobu remembers a ton more memories. The demon slayers present agree to go and see what Konohagakure is like and maybe get questioned in T&I.

AU HEADCANONS:

Tengen Uzui is Jiraya’s grandson or great grandson from a one night stand when Jiraya was younger

The Rengoku are an offshoot of the Uzumaki clan that did not want to be known as shinobi

Uzushio had a close relationship with the demon slayer corps before they were annihilated

the Ubayashiki are distantly related to the Hyuuga

One of Sanemi and Genya’s parents was a Hatake(maybe Sakumo’s cousin???)

The Kamado were a reasonably wealthy merchant clan that used to be samurai before their downfall which was lack of offspring, illness and a demon attack. The Harunos knew of them and had trade deals with them

The Tsugikuni were a famous samurai clan once employed by the fire daimyo’s court

The Kages know of the demon slayer organisation and categorise them as a missing nin group, but they never put them in the bingo book due to the fact that it would cause widespread panic they’ve also had testimonials that the demon slayer corps are in fact legitimate due to shinobi getting caught up in demon hunter vs demon battles 

All missions where shinobi run into demon slayer vs demon battles are immediately changed to S Rank(top secret), and kept in a cabinet only the current Hokage can access

Shinobi have been turned into demons before, and depending on how powerful they are their blood demon art is normally nearly at a lower moon rank in sheer power. They have get killed as fast as possible to stop massive civilian casualties

if a person with a dojutsu (byakugan/sharingan/rinnegan etc) trains to use a breathing technique, their dojutsu eyes appear darker

The new Minato manga oneshot came out and confirmed something a lot of people had theorized about: Minato sucked at naming things even back when he created the jutsu, so his name for the Rasengan was comically lame and overly long, and Kushina was the one who shortened it to Rasengan, which he started using as the official name afterwards.

His original name for the Rasengan, based off an earlier scene where Jiraya used an ice cream and his hair as a metaphor, was “Halo Hair Whorl of Jiraiya Inspired By Frozen Dessert Twin Style Sphere”; it's really cute that Kishimoto not only remembered the fact that he gave Minato the quirk of giving things comically long names, but also offered a pretty solid explanation and story as to why the Rasengan had a really simple and straightforward name in spite of that.

I do like that the Rasengan, Naruto's most iconic jutsu, was inspired by both of his parents. Minato may have created the Rasengan, but Kushina was the one to give it the iconic name because Minato can't be trusted to name anything.

It's also just a quirk that I like. Minato having complicated names and being kinda a dork is endearing for him, especially with the little backstory he got compared to some of the other Hokages.

Red eyed Naruto is looking like an unhinged Minato and I bet that with time he will use Talk no Jutsu on Orochimaru and somewhat redeem him??? Naruto trained by Tsunade thooooooo!!! FAMILY BONDING! She did see Nawaki on him, so I guess she would take it as a second chance maybe? And I snorted at "now he's the Hokage grandson" LOL

Jiraya as Sakura's proud uncle HECK YES! And after Aburame Sakura with pink beetles now we have Sakura with pink snakes. I love it! Also HECK YES GIRL END KABUTO! Also, SakuKarin if Sakura finds Team Taka?

Sasuke being trained by Jiraya might make him the village's hero (btw love his clothes) but Sasuke being trained by Tsunade? The last Uchiha being trained by the last Senju????? Madara and Tobirama are rolling in their graves and Hashirama and Izuna are watching benevolently hahahahaha He will singlehandedly end the division that exists since before the village was stablished!

Minato + Kushina (unhinged Uzumaki) = Naruto (little unhinged Minato looking gremlin). It's simple.

Tsunade is Naruto's grandma in my heart and no one can take that from me. It's simple <3

SAKUKARIN FOR SURE! Who do you think I am? 💖 there's even an extra idea I'm organizing to post later where any of the 3 could find Karin to team up, and Snake! Sakura would STILL end up with her.

The Uchiha x Senju peacemaking thing never really meant much to me... until I realized Sasuke could do it! From time to time people mention ideas for how that could be, either Sakura getting more into the Senju side (with mokuton or as Tsunade's legacy) and so SasuSaku could symbolize that peace, or just making things clearer with Naruto's chakra so that it made more sense idk NOW Sasuke doing it alone >:) by himself, being the best version of and for Hashirama's dream of the village and clearing the Uchiha name along the way! Pls😖💖
