can you do riize reaction to you in a lehenga/saree/etc 🥺🧡
riize when you wear desi clothes in front of them!
pairing : ot7 x reader! genre : fluff <3 cw/tw : i talk mainly about desi ethnic clothing here but i've tried to generalize it as much as i could <3 wc : i wanna say 250 ish
shotaro ,. ! hmm so i see him as someone who would be so interested in the clothing itself; and try to learn more about your personal preferences regarding types of clothes. will be waxing poetic about you and ALSO he's totally randomly twirling you around or yk that move where the guy pulls the girl in a way that her back is to his front with his arms around her?? that is peak taro behaviour trust (i'll add a visual later if i can find it 😭)
eunseok ,. ! okay okay but hear me out. the second he learns you're planning on wearing something ethnic, he'd make up his mind to intentionally do the "getting your dupatta caught in the guy's watch thing".. he'd have heard you offhandedly mention it like once and would be so determined to make it happen. and it'd end up so perfect too you wouldn't believe it was planned for months beforehand <3
sungchan ,. ! i feel like he'd maybe kinda completely lose the ability to speak for a solid couple of minutes.. but once he's able to regain coherence he's raving about you to EVERYONE. he genuinely walks up to people like "hey. my s/o looks really good in their traditional clothing. btw" also i feel like if your into wearing those floofy anarkalis he'd really like those and the way they flare out prettily when you twirl around :O
wonbin ,. ! similar to shotaro; he'd be really fascinated by the factual details about all the different types of fabrics, the designs, the colours; would definitely try to learn more about the history of whatever you're wearing (especially with the types of embroidery styles like chikankari/zari/bandhani etc etc)!! would def wanna match with you too <3 (also, him in a black kurta. w sleeves rolled up. h oly shit)
seunghan ,. ! bro is going to be glued to his phone and or camera and will be taking like 999999+ pics of you because like??? how can he not??? you just look so pretty??? obviously he knows you're always gorgeous but there's something different, more vulnerable, open and romantic to him about you wearing your ethnic clothing around him <3 also super into matching outfits
sohee ,. ! omg he'd be so pleading emoji coded would be so in awe and with all earnestness follow you around everywhere you go because you just look so jaw dropping, heart stopping, head spinningly beautiful that he can't help but want to be around you at all times so people know you're with him <33.. also a dupatta liker would do that thing where he trails slightly behind you while holding onto it oh my heart D:
anton ,. ! this guy totally lowkey wants to gatekeep you and how gorgeous you like but he can't do that so, like sohee, he'll stick to clinging onto you (with all his 6'1 height) as much as he can.. will tell you he's more than willing to learn how to weave fabrics by hand to make you more sarees/lehengas/etc (doesn't actually end up doing that but he does buy you like every single piece of clothing you even glance towards slightly :P)
notes : the way i wanted this 2 be so perfect and ended up thinking about it for like 5 ish days ,,, + [m.list] song rec : proper patola from namaste england tyvm !

we are gonna get through this last chapter of Handbook for Mortals and you aren't gonna believe what bullshit we've got here.
Chapter 21:
when we last left our hero, Scheherazade and Mac finally fucked. good for them, I guess.
Chapter 21: The World
-this chapter's only three pages long, by the way, but don't worry, we've got plenty to talk about.
-we start off with, "You may now kiss the bride!" so it's wedding time! Sarem wants you to think it's Zade and Mac soooooo bad but nope, it's Charles and Dela. which, damn, that is some FAST reconciliation. a month???? a month???????
-oh but it's time to throw the bouquet and guess what Zade catches it and she wasn't even trying to.
-Mac then asks if there's a book out there and Zade doesn't know what he meant because "I had already caught the bouquet."
there are two acceptable ways to say bouquet in my head and this joke doesn't work with either of them.
-and then Mac namedrops the book.
-and the book literally ends with, "And they lived happily ever after...OR DO THEY?" complete with the capitalization like that.
BUT WAIT.
THERE'S MORE.
Can't wait to find out what happens next? Enjoy this teaser from the second book in the saga due out in 2018!
oh boy. let's see what pearls this oyster has to impart.
-by the way, this is not being treated as a proper sneak peek. the pages are still labeled for the previous chapter. this really should just be part of Chapter 21, especially because it's continuing the very same scene and Charles and Dela's wedding.
-a handsome man approaches, surprising Dela and Zade. this is Aunt Aldyth from England, who is either a transwoman (that Sarem doesn't know how to write about, so add at least half a tally to that), a drag queen, or otherwise gnc as he typically dresses up in makeup and traditionally feminine clothing. for this occasion, he's in a perfectly tailored suit. my own guess is drag queen but I could be wrong.
-also another tally for language as Dela greets Aunt Aldyth with, "Namaste." I feel that should be a tally, anyway.
-and another tally for Zade assuming the name "Aunt Aldyth" is a joke that stuck. drag is inherently a performance and it is very jokey, but treating someone as a joke because they do drag is not funny.
-"I frowned and folded my arms. I hated it more than anything when people talked about me as if I wasn't there." I do agree that you should be part of this conversation. just because Zade tends to be disrespectful to others doesn't mean she should be treated the same way.
-Oh. My. God. It's A Prophesy.
-"There will be many white, black, and grey magick entities vying for you and your power." so, just like in the love triangle where Zade is desired but doesn't make any choices for herself, she is now the object of desire for magic reasons, too. great.
-and because Mac apparently figures into this to some degree, Zade asks if she and Mac are destined. even now she doesn't want to make a choice about the love triangle if she can avoid it.
-Aunt Aldyth is like, "Hopefully no one else knows everything about you," to Zade, so guess who it's time to remember?
that's right, Lambo Girl!
god, it is page 418, which is negative five pages into the book at this point since the book "ended" on page 413. we're bringing up Lambo Girl NOW?
-also, we know Zeb knows some stuff too because he also knows about magic and Zade has been using real magic in the show since day fucking one!
-ugh, and Zade introduces Mac to Aunt Aldyth:
"Mac, this is my Great Aunt Aldyth," I said softly and matter of fact, my voice slightly flat and cold. "Hello, young man." Aunt Aldyth smiled at him. "Hello." Mac paused, turning to me for confirmation. "Uh...aunt?" Mac looked extremely perplexed. I whispered under my breath, "Magick. I'll explain later." He gave me an odd look but nodded.
Aunt Aldyth has been here for five pages and is already too good for this bullshit.
-ooo but at least Aunt Aldyth affirms this with, "Yes. Aunt." fuck you Zade and Mac!
-Aunt Aldyth asks that they all join hands and the four of them (Zade, Mac, Dela, and Aunt Aldyth) see a vision of a massive lightning strike that hits all the trees in the garden and sets them on fire.
or I think it was a vision? it might have really happened since the vision seemed to be set at the wedding venue? but we're not seeing anyone else reacting to it besides these four, so I'm pretty sure it's a vision.
and the book finally ends with Mac asking Zade if she did that and her saying that's probably what Dela and Aunt Aldyth are about to tell them but that that's probably the least of their worries.
The Fucking End!
-after this is a 10 PAGE acknowledgments section. just a reminder so you don't have to scroll back up, this is over three times as long as the last chapter.
-"The thank-yous were, by far, the hardest part of writing this book. I literally edited and rewrote and added to this section the whole time I was writing." so we know at least part of this book was edited.
-when talking about her loved ones and why she's not listing each individual one, Sarem says, "(I fear that list would be more pages than the actual story)," which it already is compared to the last chapter.
-but I guess it is good that Sarem is practicing her award acceptance speech.
-"I would also like to thank anyone who put me down or tried to cause me to fail along the way." because of course there's gotta be a shoutout to the haters.
-"Motivation might just be the most important thing in achieving any goal," is a weird thing to write in the acknowledgments section of a book in which the protagonist has no motivation whatsoever.
-"Thank you to my muses for giving me the story that exists here; you'll all forever stay in my heart. The people in this story are all bits of each of you." hoo boy, that's a hell of a thing to say in a book that has proxy characters for David Copperfield and Jackson Rathbone as well as Wayne Newton, Carrot Top, and the honest to goodness actual band the Plain White T's.
-oh this bit's priceless:
While I can't personally thank everyone who helped make this happen--and while I am also sure the minute this comes out I will hate myself for forgetting someone that should be listed, because that's how it always works for me--I'm going to try anyway. The good news is I'll be able to include you in the next book! :)
ah yes, the sequel due out *checks wrist* six years ago.
-of course the biggest thanks goes to Thomas Ian Nicholas. after all, he believed in this book so much he even signed the copy I bought.
-add another tally for Thomas being the yin to Sarem's yang.
-ooooo Sarem talking about the effort Nicholas put into this project is a heck of a thing to read after finding out how many books were ordered in his name.
-Chris Kenner gets a special shoutout and Sarem's so grateful she offers up her firstborn to Chris.
-omg she thanks Sally Beauty Supply
-and obligatory shoutout to Sarem's cousin *NSync member JC Chasez.
-and she shouts out all the bands she references in the book. or outright makes characters in her book.
-I got confused when it looked like she was just randomly namedropping celebrities again until she ended that paragraph with, "for your friendship and help along the way."
-oh geez, she thanks, "Kim Spurgeon and Danette Tull and the whole Nevada Film Office and the Tennessee Entertainment Commission for ensuring we can still make films." hoo boy, leftover from the script, maybe?
-"To Scott Thompson for...making sure I had the right amount of balance in my book." well he didn't do a very good job.
-"To Kim Estlund for being the best PR woman a girl could ask for." oh that has me curious because Sarem's public reputation is pretty much in the toilet. a glance at her linkedin doesn't offer up anything on Sarem, but I'm also not joining linkedin if I don't have to and I'm not gonna dig for this.
-wait how can you thank the very first person to buy this book if you're still writing it? it's not generic thanks to the first person, she lists a name.
-"To Aimee Mann and Susan Gibson for allowing me to use your amazing lyrics to convey things I couldn't." why are you admitting in the acknowledgments that you're a shitty writer?
-"To Robert Schmidt, my editor, for making me look like I paid attention in English class and actually know where commas go." so there's your warning there: don't hire Robert Schmidt to edit your book.
-"To Ryan Kincaid for the amazing artwork on the cover of this book: you gave life to an image that Thomas and I made up in our heads." that's a big oof there considering the plagiarism scandal about the cover art.
-there's a shoutout to Lisa Hendricks for being Sarem's "second mom." Lisa Hendricks is also the sole positive review of Handbook for Mortals on Amazon afaik. it's just like Krimson Rogue's bit about the foreword. "Oh my sweetie pie did such a good job with this book! I'm sure you'll love it!"
also go watch Krimson Rogue's videos, dude is funny.
-God It Just Keeps Going.
-Sarem also thanks her actual mom and says, "(for good or bad, she also never taught me the word no...)" and damn if that don't show.
-WOW this fucking paragraph:
I always said if I won an Oscar my speech would be something like this: For all those who helped me along the way--and in any way at all--thank you. You all know who you are. And for those who didn't: you can eat dirt 😊
it's amazing how bitter Sarem continues to be.
-"Never let anyone tell you that you are not good enough. It just means they are not good enough." seriously, what IS it with Sarem's need to put others down?
-and she ends that whole thing off with, "Go Cubs!" jesus.
-well if we're doing everything we might as well do the author blurb from the other side of the dust jacket:
Lani Sarem basically grew up in the entertainment industry. She began acting at age three and continued to perform through her early years. Lani began writing scripts when she was eleven. She has developed into a resourceful jack-of-all-trades in the music business. At the age of fifteen, she became a rock n' rolly [g-slur], touring with bands and working on festivals. She's worked with everyone from Ryan Adams to Gnarls Barkley. she was also one of the youngest female managers in the business with clients that include the Plain White T's, 100 Monkeys and Blues Traveler. Lani has appeared in films such as Mall Cop 2, Jason Bourne and Trailer Park Shark.
quick pause to let you know she was just an extra in those first two listed films. Trailer Park Shark is the only role where she plays a named character who has a scene.
Handbook for Mortals is her debut novel of a series of books, which are also being made into feature films. You can follow Lani on her social networks to keep up with her many adventures. Keep an eye out for her at a Wizard World Comic Con near you.
-and one final tally mark for using the g-slur in her twitter handle.
and that, all of that, was Handbook for Mortals. god what a shitshow.

Sydney is GOTH
Especially the buildings.
by: Icie
Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,
There were may wonderful things about Sydney that I liked when I visited there for 3 days. And boy, do I love that city! It truly is a global city worth going to and I love how it has embraced art.
Oh yes, I will still talk about art, but this time it's going to be about the living, highly functional art, which is called architecture. Specifically, about the gorgeous 100-200 year old buildings in Sydney.
We begin on one cold day as my partner and I walked down Hyde Park to reach AGNSW. I saw something grand that caught my eye. I can spot a Gothic tower anywhere and that right there are gothic cathedral-like twin spires trying to reach the sky.
AND IT'S GOLD.
I told my partner, "let's take a look at that cathedral for a spur of the moment side-quest before heading to AGNSW". He agreed and lo and behold: St. Mary's Cathedral.
Great! it was 8:30 AM on a Saturday, meaning there's no church service. So we went close to the steps and saw other tourists taking pictures of this beauty that was made by inmates back in the 1800s. I couldn't resist taking pictures! I love the Gothic style as much as I love Art Nouveau. The people who created this marvel didn't skip on the details. There was beauty in the fences, the doors, the columns, and the windows.
It was so amazingly beautiful.
The best part of this whole cathedral is, we could go inside to take pictures!
It was far more golden inside the building than it was outside.
Later in the day, I found another Gothic offshoot building. When I spotted the Registrar General's Building, I hoped that there would be more Gothic beauties around the city.
Surprise!
The hotel we stayed at was a quirky Federation Gothic building peppered with Art Deco and 1980's elements making it an eclectic haven for people who looked for something out of the ordinary. It was next to a small theatre that showed kitsch things as well, but damn, were they beautiful! We definitely enjoyed our stay. Alright, I wanna move to Sydney now just because of the buildings. And that was just day 1 of our trip.
On the last day of our trip, I saw more Gothic inspired buildings. I wondered why that was the case? I looked up the time when Sydney was founded and I connected the dots to my Art History lessons.
Ah.
Yep.
Victorian People loved reviving old styles and anything Gothic. Their love moved from England to Australia because it was the style of the time mostly because the old timey governor Lachlan Macquarie who, as a Victorian Scot, loved Gothic stuff. But this type of architecture in Australia had some twists. Australian Gothic is so gold and compact, not as tall as the ones in Europe (I assume. Feel free to correct me), a little simpler, and somewhat lighter.
Then I started seeing those small Gothic monuments and details everywhere.
I didn't complain. I love this style! I wanna move to Sydney and see more Gothic Revival buildings every day. Gosh, Brisbane only wishes we had buildings like these.

On Wednesday morning/evening I met Kyaw in Myanmar (Burma), via Zoom, and drew his portrait for my #NickDrawsNationals pandemic art project. We were introduced by a British heavy metal music journalist, who wrote about Kyaw’s punk group, Rebel Riot Band, when they toured England, Germany and Switzerland in 2017. Myanmar has always been poor, but the last two years have been especially hard – there was a military coup during the pandemic, after democratic elections didn’t go in the army’s favour. Harsh lockdown rules meant people couldn’t go out to earn a living for fear of being arrested or shot. Although such rules have since been relaxed, there remains a military curfew after midnight, when it is still dangerous to go outside. Last summer clothes factory workers, who make garments for major international brands, went on strike in protest about pay and human rights abuses. Kyaw has been involved in these demonstrations. He has screen-printed posters in support of the strikers, and works in food kitchens to feed them. He has also performed protest songs critical of the junta. It’s risky – during lockdown, people were imprisoned for gathering in groups of more than five, and for all forms of political dissent. Unrest has been even worse in rural areas outside the capital Yangon (Rangoon). There was a bright side to all this though – Kyaw met his yoga teacher girlfriend working at the food kitchen. Much like their punk/yoga relationship, Kyaw says his attitude is “50% namaste, 50% f**k you!” – apt in a country whose main religion is conservative Buddhism. He was recently in Thailand for the launch of his band’s new album. Sadly, only a few days in, Kyaw received news that one of his two younger brothers was run over by a train and killed while in South Korea. The funeral will be soon. The brother had been working on a cruise ship, and was already abroad when his wife gave birth to their baby. He only ever got to see his newborn child via a video call. #nickdrawsneighbours #drawing #portrait #portraitdrawing #portraiture #birodrawing #ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpoint #neighbours #sketching #artinlockdown #artinisolation #isolationart #NickDrawsNationals (at Portslade, West Sussex, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnWgS8DIDRW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
