How I'd Make FEH's Seasonal Banners Not Suck
Gacha is evil, it's bad, you shouldn't play it but as a girl with a big of a gambling addiction but see's no value in PNGs it's an outlet for me so I enjoy a few Gacha games for their fix, one of which being FEH. Seasonal banners are the worst banners of every month because their not sparkable without paying the monthly fee they want players to pay. Still imagining a better world where they had non premium spark I want to go over each months theme and if I'd keep it the same or if I'd replace the theme and with what.
January - New Years It's a solid banner theme of holiday banners it's one of two I'd keep. Most people use a calendar that means January is the start of a new year so a banner themed around celebrating it makes sense.
January 2 - Dessert
While the Dessert theme does have an eventual expiration date Fire Emblem does have a nice breath of Dessert cultures throughout the series that I do think is interesting to get a bit more insight into. Eventually this will have to pivot to some other type of cultural background but I do think there is smooth ways to transition into cultures although perhaps they will intersect with the Culture/Tribal banners that happen later in the year. If they really ran out of special cultures I do think they could pivot this to even go modern and explore real world cultures that inspired the characters for more modern designs which could be a fun and exciting ways to engage players.
February - Vday While I enjoy the dead dads theme of The Day Of Devotion banner being little families connecting I do think with FEHs dual heroes that we could do an actually romantic set of banners where it has ships on dates in cute outfits with an all dual hero banner. I think this theme could or could not be game locked but I think the most fun thing is to have a thematic tie between the ships and have it not be game locked so instead be like tragic love, Eternal Love, Childhood Friends To Lovers Rivals To Lovers kinda deals where it explores a different set of dynamics and how they manifested in the series. I'd start with a Childhood Friends To Lovers theme with Alm and Celica, Florina and Lyn, Dimitri and Dedude something like that to have a nice well flavored banner.
March - Replace Easter with Beast AU
This is probably my biggest want for Fire Emblem Heroes, the Easter Theme is not good. What could be amazing though and fix one of FEHs biggest problems is a banner that makes units into Beast Units. FEH has to make a good chunk of it's OCs beasts just so it can put a new stream of beast units into the game and has to use fairly niche characters to fill seasonal rosters all to stay canon complient but I say fuck canon, it's fun to do an AU and it would let popular characters be reimagined. In particular they could easily debut this to a best selling banner of Three Houses AUs. Flying Beast Black Eagle Edelgard, Cavalier Beast Golden Deer Claude, Armor Beast Blue Lion Dimitri, and Infantry Beast Ashen Wolf Yuri. Bam, perfect, that's a top selling banner. You pair Yuri with M Byleth since he is the Ashen demon or Naliah for a canon wolf unit. You make the tempest trail unit Fbyleth as either like a literal Ashen Demon or a dragon.
April - Replace Kids with Futures
It will never set well with me on every single level the kids banner theme. I hate having the kids end up being stronger then the other versions of the character. I hate having kid designs in general cuz it feels weird to use babies to fight in these wars. It's a weird theme that should go. So instead I propose a much better theme of Futures where we see the characters older from their end cards in the game. This is a massive staple of Fire Emblem having characters have some nice little future and why can't we see this. The age range can vary seeing fresh faced adults of the younger characters like a Donel or a Amelia or like proper older versions of some of the more standard ages Fire Emblem lords as they enter their MILF/DILF eras. People would love to see a proper older version of characters they love, especially it could be cute for older titles where you maybe it could be like aged by the amount of years of the game and kinda a growing up with the character kinda deal. Or it could just be a thirsty Mommy Sorry kinda vibe, either way works for me.
May - Replace Brides With cooking banner
Getting ready for the summer rather then a creepy bridal theme we could have a cook out, since Fates cooking has been a staple of Fire Emblem. I think themes like Tea Time could also move to this slot but each year could have a different kind of cooking vibe from like a summer cook out to a master chief vibe to like a cozy married life cooking banner with each capturing a new vibe while not being just the same boring white dress on woman theme.
June - Keep Summer 1
It's fine, I don't care for the fan service but people enjoy it, keep one month of summer banners, it clearly makes money, someone gets excited about it, a lot of people do but it could also be they bring out a lot of fan favorite units and strong pairings.
July - Replace Summer 2
I will give FEH one month of swim suits but one month is all I will give. Swim suits are not inspired, they aren't particularly interesting and we don't need two months of it. The theme that could replace it I think is space for something really fun like a cosplay theme with other Nintendo characters or a modern fashion theme that could be summery but not like just a swim suit. Something out there and exciting and can be a real talking point of the year. Personally I am found of the cosplay/crossover slot existing here.
August - Make Explicitly A Rare Class Theme
This slot might seem random but to me the clear pattern is it's about highlighting a rare class in the series be in rare as if you get 1 per game or rare as in was only in a few games. We have plenty of Fates Birthrights classes but even outside of that we have classes like Summoner that have only ever appeared once or Bandit that have only been playable once that could be a ton of fun to see characters dressed up as and could lead to really fun designs.
September - Keep Culture
The culture/tribal banners that show up in September are fantastic, actually using the lore of Fire Emblem. We have tons of cultures to go through that have shown up in the Fire Emblem series with countries like Sacae, Almyra, Brigid, all briming with a ton of fun potential to bring into banners and have popular characters be there to carry the flag for their country while other characters dive deep into the cultures.
October - Keep Halloween
Halloween is fun, it's fun, it never is samey because Halloween is what you make it, they could mix it up and have FE characters cosplaying Nintendo characters even if they start deciding they wanted to move off spooky stuff but honestly the spooky stuff is all cheesy fun and the banners are not creepy at all so I think they are just good fun.
November - Widen Ninja to be other Japanese inspired classes
I love Ninja Banners, who doesn't they just have good units from popular games and good designs but I do think expanding Ninja to include Samurai and other Hosido classes could widen the general appeal of the units and help them not stagnate but also I like Ninjas so like I feel like it should expand but not as strongly as the others I wanted to change.
December - Replace Xmas With Snowy Cultures
I am Christmas's greatest hater so of course I want this to change but I also think it's just so boring as a theme everyone wearing the same kind of outfit and colors every single year it just isn't fun and I would much rather see an expansion to the worlds cultures like with other cultural banners and a shift to Snowy cultures like Flora's home culture and Florinas.

Hello, I hope you're having a nice day!
I was reading your Daein!Soren story the other day when I noticed this bit:
"Rajaion muttered something under his breath, it sounded like the ancient tongue and it sounded as irritated as Reyson did whenever the heron prince reverted to his native tongue."
I honestly am a big fan of the idea that Rajaion can speak in the ancient tongue, it makes sense that he can, dragons being very old and all.
It does make me wonder if Almedha and Kurthnaga can speak it too (or at least understand it)
Hi! I am having a nice day, just perpetually exhausted lmao
Thanks for coming by and I hope you're having a good day as well!
To arrive at my answer for Rajaion speaking the ancient tongue and Almedha and Kurthnaga's fluency in ancient, I'm going to walk you through my thought process about the prevalence of the ancient tongue in Tellius and the development of the modern tongue.
Hatari was separated from Tellius during the great flood, and the ancient tongue is the only language that they know. Rafiel introduces the modern tongue to them. So it stands to reason that back in the day, the people of Tellius only spoke the ancient tongue as well, and the modern tongue developed after the Great Flood. Naliah refers to the modern tongue as the language of Tellius because it originated there.
I imagine, therefore, that Dheginsea, Altina, and Soan spoke the ancient tongue as their first language since it is only about 20 years between the Flood and the war between Ashera and Yune concluding, and 20 years is not long enough for a new language to develop and become the common language (and Dheginsea and Soan are laguz, so they also grew up before the Flood)
At some point, the modern tongue developed in Begnion, I'm not sure when, just sometime down the line, but very likely after Dheginsea took all the dragons and founded Goldoa. So for a long while after modern caught on within Begnion, I imagine the dragons still spoke ancient due to their isolation, and it was therefore the first language of the older dragons born within Goldoa. The dragons obviously eventually started learning the modern tongue, and it probably became the most commonly used language after a while because Nailah says the modern tongue is a simpler language that is easier to master compared to the ancient tongue. However, Nasir is shown to be able to read the ancient tongue as well as Reyson or Lillia can, which denotes a mastery of the language that comes from being fluent in it in a way that people realistically are not if they learn a language only as a scholarly endeavor (no one is "fluent" in Latin these days, for example, and even experts in Latin need a dictionary to dicpher texts written in it).
With all of the above in mind, I think Rajaion grew up only speaking ancient and learned modern as an adult/late teen equivalent for dragons, as did Nasir and Gareth. Almedha likely grew up learning both, with a heavy lean towards modern as she got older. Kurthnaga and Ena are the youngest dragons, so they probably grew up with modern as their first language. Kurthnaga has more likely than not picked up a bit of the ancient tongue as it is still his family's first language and older Goldoan documents would be written in it, but I think he's not especially fluent in it because he's never been immersed in it.

Name help!
There I was, thinking it was a good time to look for a new name, and then I asked my mom, what name she would give me if it has to be neutral. She told me she didn't know, but she would definitively look for something african.
This made me think, and I really liked the idea of looking for neutral african names for myself.
So, I made a research, and decided to post here some of my favorite names. If you guys are looking for something alike, this may help!
Most of this names are neutral but not all
Ada
This name means first daughter and I think it's very pretty
Baakir
This one means first son
Baako
Baako means "firstborn" and is unisex/neutral
Jameela
Unisex, this one and all its variarions. Usually means "beautiful" when used for girls or "virgin" if used for boys. But there's no problem if we keep the two meanings, I guess. You can use it as a very sexy ace
Lali
This is a masculine name and means "flexible"
Maha
"Beautiful eyes". This name is feminine
Nala, or Naliah (You may remember this one from The Lion King)
Is feminine and means "sucessful"
Taj
"The exalted". Masculine. Also, the way it is written in sanscrit also stands for "crown"
Tanishia
Born in a monday. Neutral. (Some names I found means things like "born in a saturday" "youngest twin" or "first born" and things like that and I think it's pretty cool)
Ayo
Neutral. Means "hapiness"
Eno
Neutral too. Means "gift"
Ode
"Born on a road". Also neutral but is more used for girls.
Abayomi
"Born to bring huge hapiness". Unisex
Lueji
"Monarch". For what I've get, it's more used for girls
Dyami
Means "eagle", and is neutral
Kieza
This one is a girl's. It means "the one who comes"
Imani
"Faith". Neutral
Bahati
I love this one. It means "luck" (Also neutral)
Rutendo
This one sounds really strong for me. Neither exactly for girls nor boys. Also means "faith"
Amahle
"Among the beautiest". This is usually used for girls but is actually unisex
Dayo
"Hapiness has come". Neutral
Adisa
And a really graceful one, Adisa. This here is masculine and stands for "the one who will teach us"
#name help#african names#neutral names#I'm brazilian#and most of us people in my country have african ascendance#so I thought it would be pretty cool picking names like these when thinking on naming myself#I may or not look for more of these#this one is for you#my afro-american trans siblings!#also#happy pride 🌈#If I wrote something wrong please correct me#trans#transgender#trans help#trans advice#nonbinary#queer#new name

Most Wanted Engage DLC stuff
Okay, I did my smart brain, what I think the Engage DLC will be but now it's time for brain off just what I want to see in Emblem Bracelets including skins I wanna see for characters already announced that I just hope are already in game.
I think we should get Heather or Yuri or Niles or Rhajhat or Doretha for being land mark queers in the games. I think we need some kind of Laguz, it would just be cool to have a Laguz, any Laguz would be cool but the coolest Laguz and most profitable is Naliah as shown by FEH.
I think Elenica should be in the game as the 3rd lord in RD and with the other two already in, you know she just makes sense. Minverva is such a huge thing in the games I'd love her and I just want Florina, I just want her.

I have a suggestion for this possibility.
Let say the Thousandfold Refraction has ended permanently and Rabiah has slowly been changing under rule of Sorceress Queen Naliah and her bloodline. Throughout the years, they started erasing the history of their past until all, but the name of their plane remains: Rabiah.
Naliah's descendants uphold a vow to gain the power to planeswalk and maybe even find another capable of planeswalking. Meanwhile, one possible planswalker is on the path to undo the seal the now aging barrier (weakened by the phyrexian invasion).
It could bring back stories of Taysir and Fatima and leave tiny references to the old Rabiah set in some way. I imagine deserts as a major function here and maybe bring fortifications (from Future Sight; And I thought it would've worked for Ikoria) and maybe another form of Battles called Raids. I am also thinking of Lawrence of Aradia, Uncharted 3, Fate Grand Order's Camelot Story Arc, and Tradewinds games (Sp ecifically Legends and Caravans) as inspiration.
Now that Universes Beyond is a thing, how's Rabiah looking on the Rabiah Scale?
Rabiah’s best chances are us doing a Persian/Arabian-influenced world and calling it Rabiah.

Kaden LaShare: Choosing to Serve His Country
“Only one percent of our population today will ever wear the uniform of this nation in any of its incarnations—soldier, sailor, airman, Marine, active, Guard or Reserve … That one percent, those sons, and daughters of our citizens, are the treasure of this nation.” Those words were uttered by then Air Force Gen. Paul J. Selva back in 2018 when Gen. Selva served as the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In America’s all-volunteer armed services, only those called, and willing, to serve do so. No one is forced to join. In 2022, there were 1.3 million active-duty military personnel, meaning the number of Americans currently answering the call is far less than one percent—more like less than a half percent. Those willing to answer should be lauded and celebrated for their decision and, it’s with that in mind, that Wheeling Park High School recently held such a celebration. WPHS recently held its inaugural Military Signing Day to honor 14 of its seniors who will make the transition from civilians to soldiers upon graduation. Fourteen of Park’s Class of 2023 have already or soon will sign on the line to join their brothers and sisters in service. Those students include 11 future members of the National Guard (Corbin Cutlip, Eddie Connor, DaeShawn Gordon, Gillian Connors, Naliah Lekanudos, Kaden LaShare, Delaney Walter, Christian Bryan, Bre’Onna Milbert, Jaden Palmer, Bryanna Nally); two future air force members in Brooke Carney and Zachary Brady, and one Marine in Alan Rojas. West Virginia Army National Guard Sgt. Andrea Gump, the school’s military career counselor, who has helped these students along their journeys, spoke during the ceremony. Each student has walked his or her path that led them to this decision—one none of them undertook lightly. Most students have “college, college, college” drilled into their heads throughout their scholastic educations. More recently, vocational education has been promoted as a viable alternative future for students. Military life has always been an option for students to explore. But given the less than one percent of the population currently serving, how and why does a young man or woman decide to make that call? For WPHS senior Kaden LaShare, he admitted it was a combination of real-world examples, and virtual fun and exploration. Yes, Kaden plays video games. He’s one of the millions of players of games like Call of Duty, which puts the player in the shoes of an individual in the military, fighting in battles on land, air, and sea. For most, it’s an escape, a release, a chance to unwind and enjoy some free time. But for LaShare, it began to foster a sense of genuine interest in taking those virtual experiences and transforming them into real-world experiences by joining the military. He’s also met and interacted with many veterans throughout his young life. Their stories, too, helped convince him that a calling to the military was one he seriously considered answering. He’s just one young man amongst his peers deciding to put his country and his countrymen ahead of himself by answering the call to serve. Each of these 14 students, and countless like them across the country, has a story of the hows and whys they put pen to paper and signed up. This is a sneak peek into his. The students who participated in WPHS' Military Signing Day. Front row, from left, are Eddie Conner, DaeShawn Gordon, Jaden Palmer, Corbin Cutlip, Zachary Brady, and Alan Rojas. Back row, from left, are Bryanna Nally, Kaden LaShare, Christian Bryan, Gillian Connors, Naliah Lekanudos, Bre'Onna Milbert, and Brooke Carney. Not pictured is Delaney Walter. Who or what first introduced you to the idea of joining the armed services? Where did you first go to get more information and what drew you in to get more info and further consider joining up? My first introduction to the armed forces was video games. I grew up on Call of Duty and always saw myself potentially being an Army Soldier. Throughout my years I’ve had the privilege of speaking with a few veterans and always greatly enjoyed their stories. They got to see the world, and that was something I had always dreamt of doing. What set the particular branch apart that you joined from the others? What appealed most to you? Not going to lie for years I was all for the Marines. Their grunt lifestyle and what seemed to be pure strength. I even talked to a couple of Marines’ recruiters, but the further I dove into the Marines, the more I realized it just wasn’t for me. SGT Gump just happened to be a recruiter we have at Wheeling Park High School, so I reached out and we started discussing some options. I very quickly decided based on her story and who she was, that the National Guard had more to offer based on who I was as a person. Their benefits seem to out way any other branch. They also still have time for a very normal life. How long did you sign up for/what type of commitment is required for your initial enlistment? Is this something you could potentially see yourself re-upping or getting further involved in? I will be signing up for a 6-year contract. Your commitment is pretty typical and expected when serving your country. “Defend your state and country”, and help others. I’ve always been one that people called for help so I figured why not do it at a bigger scale. That is one of my bigger reasons for enlisting. I love to help. I definitely see myself re-enlisting. How will this help you in your career and life down the road? The National Guard opens up so many different paths and possibilities. They give you something to stand on. It is definitely a good boost into life, and I truly believe it can get you ahead of your peers if you take advantage of the opportunity. What were your thoughts on WPHS’ doing the enlistment signing ceremony? Who came up with the idea? I believe SGT Gump came up with the idea for the signing day ceremony. My personal opinion is that the whole thing truly was amazing. It felt good to be recognized for our commitment. I feel as though most schools just push for college, so I am very proud of WPHS as a whole for embracing the kids who decided to enlist in our country’s military. What would you tell someone weighing their options about potentially enlisting? Were there any initial questions or hang-ups that you had? If I am completely honest there’s only so much advice you can offer someone when it comes to the military. It really is a huge commitment, and you can’t do it based on what someone else thinks. You just have to be willing to reach out to recruiters and explore your options. Always do your research and be diligent. I truly believe that you will know very quickly whether or not the military is for you. There’s a reason we’re sometimes referred to as the “one percenters”. Anyone who even considers joining the military has my respect for that reason. Commitment, it’s one word but has a huge meaning when it comes to life. If you can give something your all, there’s no doubt you’ll succeed. Read the full article

Character Question Tag!
Rules: Pick one of your characters, answer these questions, tag some people
I was tagged by @ragethewriter thanks for thinking of me! ^.^
I picked Naliah one of Dune’s protagonists.
~ ~ ~
1) What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
Since Amir is a very happy and gentle character (at least he pretends to be) and Mazum is quite serious and duteous, I wanted to create someone who would be a pain in the ass for them, a seemingly cheeky and arrogant character. That’s how Naliah was born.
2) Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?
I think question 1) answers that quite good but I also considered her to be Amir’s love interest. Due to me being way too lazy to design another family just for her, I simply turned her into Amir’s cousin (so she won’t be his love interest!). I think she fits into the Bak family quite well, bc she can also deeply care about her fellows.
3) How did you choose their name?
Since my cat is called “Nala” and she can also be quite moody from time to time, I instantly thought of her when designing Naliah. Still I wanted her name to sound more special and I remembered one of pigeonbooks’ characters was called Naliah. I really liked that name, so sorry for kind of stealing it from you ^^’
4) In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
The people of Suthri aren’t allowed to wear makeup or jewellery, only on special occasions. The nobility however is allowed to wear them whenever they like. Since Naliah is a rebellious character, she still wears a little bit of eyeshadow, lipstick and some bracelets all the time. By doing so, she not only wants to look good and show disobediance but she also likes to pretend not to be poor.
I also like that she is skilled in sewing cloth :)
5) Is there any significance behind their hair color?
Not really, I just thought that brown or black hair might the the typical and natural haircolour for people living in the desert (correct me if I’m wrong!)
6) Is there any significance behind their eye color?
Since I really like green eyes, I decided to make hers green too. Mazum has brown eyes, so she has inherited her eye colour from her mother, who left the family long ago.
7) Is there any significance behind their height?
I don’t even really know how big she is, so no :D
8) What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?
I can definetely relate to her pretending to be someone else. I often think about the stupid things I may have said or done like one hundred years ago and hope that one day I’ll wake up without my 'bad' traits. But hey, that’s life and you learn from it, right?
9) Are they based off of you, in some way?
Number 8) answers this, but that’s the only trait we share I think.
10) Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
I mean, she was intended to be Amir’s lover but since I changed that, I haven’t really thought about it. Unlike “The Taste”, Dune has little to no romantic scenes in it (at least none that I already thought about/ planned). I like to think of my characters as pansexual when creating them and don’t focus much on their sexuality until I find a fitting spot to mention it or a character that would be a great match for them.
11) What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?
To give her an entrance in the story! I decided to just let her burst into a scene XD
12) How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
I still have to write Dune, let me breathe! XD
13) If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
1) * Think of Regina George from Mean Girls while writing her *
2) * Don’t let her be too rude, she still has a soft spot that will be revealed sometimes *
14) What is something about your OC that can make you laugh?
The first thing she does when she has an argument with Mazum is awkwardly cry in front of Amir, who totally can’t handle it.
15) What is something about your OC that can make you cry?
The sadness she tries to hide underneath her masquerade.
16) Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
Not yet but since I mess up about 80 percent of my stories, the regret will sure as hell come. help
17) What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?
That she has beautiful natural curls but she always straightens her hair.
18) What is your favorite fact about your OC?
That even though she can be very rude and often hurts others, she’d give her own life for the people she loves.
I’ll tag @marewriteblr, @writebruh and @ivonoris. You absolutely don’t have to do this but I’d love to hear more about your OCs! Have fun! :)

Reyson/Seteth C-A Support
Written by @sharyrazade
A/n: Possible content warning for Reyson’s backstory, but at this point in time, it’s probably not necessary.
C SUPPORT
[Seteth is taking a walk along one of the paths in the castle when he notices a man’s voice vocalizing- save for being a man’s voice, he’s sure he’s heard this exact melody before]
Seteth: [surprised] That’s not possible- can it be-?
[Seteth turns a corner to see that it is in fact, a man’s voice]
Seteth: Excuse me. Might I trouble you with a question, young man?
Reyson: [finally notices Seteth’s presence] Oh, my apologies! I did not notice you there! One might say my people are rather…musically inclined and just as inclined to lose ourselves in song. What did you need, sir?
Seteth: Your vocalizing- I am certain that I have heard that precise melody before, but cannot put a name to it.
Reyson: That is not surprising. You…are not from Tellius, are you?
Seteth: That is correct. And it therefore irks me a great deal that I cannot place the melody- I have heard my…sister vocalize that very one many times before.
Reyson: [expression perks up] I suppose it is not uncommon to have a sister skilled at singing, but to have one from another world be such- with galdrar, no less? Will wonders never cease? Might I ask your name, sir?
Seteth: You may call me Seteth.
Reyson: I am Reyson, third prince of Serenes. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Seteth: I should say the same, Reyson.

B SUPPORT
[Amid a noticeable commotion in the distance of Anna and the Summoner yelling at several none-too-happy heroes, Reyson storms away from the great hall out into the gardens in a rage, wings singed and sporting a number of bruises.]
Seteth: [shocked] My goodness! Are you alright, Reyson?! What happened?!
Reyson: [seething] Truthfully, I’m not certain myself. One moment there was calm, the next Elincia had tackled this other beorc woman and began pummeling her before Lethe joined in. Soren, Mordecai and some of the others pulled them apart, but needless to say, they had…some more words.
Seteth: Oh, dear.
[Reyson looks down in anger and shame]
Reyson: Then, the other beorc woman began to taunt Elincia about her father and the “subhumans” and I…I must have just taken leave of my senses- I started raining blows on the white-haired beorc woman from behind. The next thing I remember, I was on the floor being choked and beaten by this gaunt, waxy, corpse-like man before Tibarn clawed him in the face to free me.
Seteth: [surprised] That’s what that horrible commotion was about? I suppose I should have expected something was amiss when Anna seemed genuinely angry and unwilling to speak casually.
Reyson: Yes. It was not one of my…prouder moments, to say the least. My brother certainly gave me an earful about how my conduct was “unbecoming,” but he was not there- he did not have to listen to that vile beorc woman with the white hair goading Elincia about us “subhumans.”
Seteth: [shuts his eyes in contemplation] I see. Even so, that is a dreadful thing to call someone. It is little surprise that one would react badly to being called such.
Reyson: [knuckles clenching] Even so, knowing how arrogant that these humans can be knowing- forgive me, I have said too much.
[Reyson abruptly leaves]
Seteth: What in the world was that about?
[Still cooling off, Reyson storms into the gardens and runs into Leanne as he turns into a hedge maze.]
Reyson: [surprised] Oh, Leanne! Fancy seeing you here.
Leanne: [concerned expression] (Of course I’m here, Brother! Naesala went off to see what that horrible disturbance in the dining hall was and still hasn’t returned. I was worried about you!)
Reyson: Really, it was nothing to be concerned about. A beorc acquaintance of mine prevented me from getting into any more trouble.
Leanne: [confused] (The man in green? With green hair?)
Reyson: Yes, him.
Leanne: (Brother, has living with Tibarn and the hawks for so long dulled your senses too? That man isn’t a beorc!)
Reyson: [even more surprised] Truly?!
Leanne: (Yes. Rafiel says the gentleman reminds him of Kurthnaga more than anyone else.)
Reyson: You managed to pull him away from Queen Naliah’s bed long enough to get that out of him? Hmm, that could explain why he kept calling me “young man,” after all…

A SUPPORT
[Just outside of the library, Seteth is conversing with Tibarn, looking both concerned and rather contrite.]
Seteth: [nods] I see. This was an enlightening- and sobering- conversation.
Tibarn: You’ve probably already noticed, but Reyson’s disposition…isn’t exactly common among Herons.
Seteth: [closes his eyes briefly] I cannot honestly fault him for it, truth be told.
Tibarn: Well, I’ll not pry, as it’s none of my business. Just take care when discussing these matters with Reyson. He’s rather- er- animated, as you know. Perhaps too much so for his own good.
Seteth: Understood.
[Seteth emerges into the garden and wanders a bit before running into Reyson, somewhat more composed than their last conversation.]
Reyson: [Still somewhat subdued] Ah, Seteth. I apologize for how abruptly our conversation ended. It was rather rude of me. And of course, how I came to insult what I assumed to be your people.
Seteth: [crosses his arms] I assure you, there’s no need for you to concern yourself with offense on my behalf- or on behalf of “my” people, I assure you.
Reyson: [inhales] I suppose I owe you an explanation for my rudeness, after all.
Seteth: If you feel it necessary, I’ll not stop you.
Reyson: As you may have gathered, my country, Serenes, is not…in the best of ways. I won’t bore you with the minutiae of how exactly it happened, but the people of Bengion somehow got it into their heads that my people were responsible for the assassination of the previous apostle, Misaha.
Seteth: [nods] And this was false, as your people do not fight.
Reyson: [slightly surprised at him having this knowledge] Precisely. Outraged, the people of descended upon Serenes with their torches and pitchforks and- all of them. Not just the men, but the women and the children too! After three days, my father, my sisters, my brother and myself…we were the only survivors.
Seteth: [visibly taken aback by the detail into which he goes] Goddess, that is ghastly!
Reyson: Tibarn and the hawks took father and I in afterwards, but my brother had been missing for sometime and we had assumed my sisters had both perished- been murdered with the rest of our clan.
Seteth: I…apologize, Reyson. That must have been torturous for you.
Reyson: Oh, it was, I assure you. In Phoenicis, I did not merely envy the hawks for their vitality and strength, but…I hated myself. For being so powerless to do anything to protect my people when they most needed me most. I have no intention of justifying it, but to explain my behavior; that beorc woman with the arrogant voice and hateful eyes must have just sent me back to that first night.
Seteth: [shuts eyes in contemplation] I see. Do you hate them, these beorc?
Reyson: There was a time when I would have answered “yes,” with no hesitation whatsoever. However-
Seteth: However?
Reyson: In the course of my journeys, I met many wonderful beorc. Misaha’s successor literally knelt before my sister and I to beg forgiveness and another exposed and personally ended the life of the man- one of Bengion’s senators- responsible for my clan’s slaughter, even after I spurned his earlier attempts to aid me. But even still…there will always be a part of me that hates them, yes. If you think less of me for it, I’ll not blame you.
Seteth: [rubs his chin] Why would I think less of you? I should think that is only natural that you would have some ill-feeling towards them.
Reyson: You have my thanks for your understanding, my friend. But I will battle these feelings of hatred for them for the rest of my very long life. A fact that sits poorly with me for one reason; a promise I made to someone very important to me.
Seteth: A promise? What sort of promise?
Reyson: To my sister, Leanne. Now we treasure her, but it cannot be denied that she is a little…childish and somewhat naive. When we reunited, she told me that she could not bear to see me with this sort of hatred inside of me and that I should accept the Apostle’s apology. I…did not handle that especially well either, but I did give her my solemn word that I would at least make an effort.
Seteth: [closes his eyes as he reminisces] I understand that very well also, Reyson. Yes, we are quite alike, indeed. But may I offer one bit of advice?
Reyson: Hm? Of course.
Seteth: I assure you, I also struggled and do struggle greatly with the dictates of my instinct towards survival and the protection of those closest to me versus my conscious intellect and moral code. However, for ages- ever since my wife’s passing- I wrestled with these dilemmas nearly in solitude. I…have very few people in whom I can truly confide. That is one way in which we differ, Reyson.
Reyson: What way would that be?
Seteth: From what you have told me, you have, both here and in your own world, a great many friends who would move heaven and earth for you. Be they from your race or not.
Reyson: That is true, I suppose.
Seteth: Indeed. You are a fine young man with loyal, devoted friends, Reyson. Do not hesitate to share your burdens with them when they weigh too heavily on your shoulders. Know that I will, as long as I am here, be one of those in whom you can confide as well.
Reyson: ...I will do that. Thank you, my friend.
