He brought the magazine home and dumped it in front of Funke. “What is the meaning of this?”⁣ ⁣ Funke looked at him wondering what had gotten him so upset. She picked up the magazine and saw the caption. “Oh my goodness!” She lamented.⁣ ⁣ “She can’t continue doing this. This has to stop. Let her know that I give her 3 months to make up her mind or else…..” Bayo said in anger as he allowed his sentence to trail off.⁣ ⁣ Funke asked her husband to sit down in a bid to calm him down. “Please seat down, Olowo ori mi (my crown).”⁣ ⁣ Bayo sat down still upset. Funke scooted close to him and took his hands in hers. “I know you love Shalewa so much and you want the best for her but don’t you think, we should give her a chance to decide who she wants to get married to.”⁣ ⁣ Bayo looked at his wife, shock written all over his face. “Funke, you did not just say that, did you?”⁣ ⁣ Funke gesticulated as she tried to explain. “She says she is not in love with Tunde and that we are forcing her to get married to him against her will.”⁣ ⁣ “Okay? So tell me. She’s carrying my child.”⁣ ⁣ Oghogho shook her head and followed it with a nod. “You be good man. But if she keep the belle, she no go fit continue this work.”⁣ ⁣ “I know that and I was trying to get her out of this….” Ayo spread his hands with a disgusted look on his face but stopped when he realized what he was about to say would seem insensitive to Kevwe’s friends.⁣ ⁣ Oghogho smiled. “No worry. I understand. All of us don tire. We jus no dey lucky like Kevwe wey get fine man like you.”⁣ ⁣ “Thank you.” Ayo said with a sad face. “Let me drop you at your place. The Wait – Chapter 1⁣ ⁣ “Do you Ajoke Omolewa, take this man, Enitan Boluwatife to be your lawful wedded husband; to have and to hold, to love and to cherish, keeping yourself solely unto him, to honour him, submit to him, forsaking all others till death do you part? If so, answer “Yes, I do.” The minister asked again, this time with some humour.⁣ ⁣ Ajoke opened her mouth but was unable to form the words the minister, her family members and Enitan waited to hear. Her eyes were trained on the man who had just walked into the registry and sat quietly at the end of the hall. He had walked in unnoticed but Ajoke’s attention towards him was beginning to attract stares in his direction.⁣ ⁣ One by one, Ajoke’s family members comprising her father, her mother, her six elder brothers and her two teenage kids looked back to find out what had caught her attention. Enitan also confused at the sudden change in Ajoke’s mien looked in the same direction. He could not recognize the stranger and he wondered why the man’s presence had suddenly affected Ajoke. He turned to look at his bride and saw tears streaming down her made-up face. What on earth is going on? All of a sudden, there was commotion in the hall. Ajoke’s aged father struggled to get up, his face taut and his jaw set but Ajoke’s brothers were faster. The youngest of her brothers tapped her father on his shoulders and slid his right hand up and down his chest. Their father took the cue and relaxed in his seat. His sons were capable of handling the situation. ⁣ Gboyega’s graduation day is here and he has no one to invite. He asks Bola if she would be his guest and she obliges. When it is time to take pictures, she looks around wondering where his family members are but sees no one. After the event, he asks her to walk with him to his hostel to pick his luggage. “How come no one came for your graduation? I thought you would have invited your family.” Bola asks.⁣ ⁣ “I don’t have a family.”⁣ ⁣ Bola stops short. A confused look on her face. “You don’t have a family? How is that possible?”⁣ ⁣ Gboyega smiles as he holds her hand so she can continue walking. “I lost my parents two years ago. We have been deserted by family. My six brothers all live their lives the way they deem fit.”⁣ ⁣ “I’m….I’m so sorry. I did not know that.” Bola says sadly.⁣ ⁣ “I know. I don’t like talking about my past.”⁣ ⁣ They walk silently for some minutes; each lost in his own thoughts. When they get to the boys hostel, Bola tells him she would rather wait outside. Gboyega nods and goes inside alone. A few minutes later, he emerges with two travel bags and a knapsack on his back. Bola asks if she can help him with his knapsack and he takes it off his back, balancing it squarely on hers.
