Guys Sophia di Martino wore a $1500 gown to the Emmys and I love her so much for it.

Not sure if it was her own or given to her to wear by the designer, but for context, award show dresses can be worth six figures easy (although they are often lent to celebrities by design houses and not purchased).

However, men's tuxes for the award shows tend to be within the 3k to 5k range. AND SHE WORE A $1500 DRESS.

Now, obviously most of us non-celebrities are not buying or wearing $1500 dresses. Donation scams on tumblr are extremely common and anyone who has a tumblr account will encounter them at some point. You have likely encountered them before and not realized it. They throw together a brand new blog with a story of needing aid, then use bots to go through follow lists and post notes to send messages to random users. Scambusting blogs like kyra45 do a lot of work to track and call out these scams when they surface.

Scam Spotting Tips

• They send an ask often accompanied with a follow despite having never interacted with you before.

Ask yourself: How did you find your blog? These interactions usually come out of nowhere when you have no original posts or interests they could've found you through, because they're just going down the lists of random blogs.

• They reblog just enough posts to make you think that their blog is in-use when it is actually only a day or a few old. Enable timestamps and try find the blog's oldest post; if a blog seems old but still seems suspicious, be wary of post backdating

• They often disable or delete comments on their donation post to hide comments that call them out. Open the notes and see if it says "some replies have been hidden, blocked or removed." Blocked/ hidden comments sometimes still appear in reblogs of a post but not the original, so open a random reblog and see if telling comments appear there.

• It isn't unusual for the story and the ask to either be exact copy-pastes of each other, or otherwise have very telling suspicious details, such as: using different names, having different goal amounts, contrasting story details, etc. Pay attention to and trust the suspicion of details that stand out as odd.

Like many of the above examples, they often use an automatically generated username consisting of random words

• Reverse image searching can be a helpful giveaway if it works, but don't trust it entirely - scammers often steal images from private Facebook groups/ profiles or alter the images so that people don't find the source. An image not having a source should also be suspicious, as you should wonder why this person's social media presence is exclusively a 3 day old tumblr blog

When you receive an ask from a blog like this, reporting them for spam or phishing and reporting the PayPal account for fraudulent activity does help get these accounts taken down.

As I have stated before, it is NOT that I don't have sympathy. Please understand that though it may be a different and more extreme situation, not all of us are well off. Some us are also fighting to simply exist as well. You don't know who that might be when you come knocking on our virtual doors, sort to speak, canvassing for money. Some us deserve the same generousity you are seeking, and when we are hurting, it feels selfish.

However, if there's a way I can volunteer (creating artwork, videos, contacting shelters, etc) I'm happy to help.

I will also state that i respectfully decline to take sides on the Palestine/isreal debate. Both sides have issues, neither is perfect. I do feel bad for everyone involved, but I am also helpless in the matter. I am struggling as well.

You don't actually have any proof. The heart bleeding images they post are often stolen from elsewhere online, and they pose as someone genuine to SCAM you. These bots could also steal your personal information and do horrible stuff with it.

They capitalise off of the suffering of actual people, then they pretend to make you feel guilty by pleading why won't u help me? Why was I blocked? Did I do anything wrong? Do I deserve this? Boohoohohoho

The answer is STOP UR BULLSHITE, YES U FO DESERVE IT. UR A SCAM. UR A FRAUD TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE.

Territory-Bound Domesticity: Minimum Interventions for Territorial Decline in Oldambt

Salvaging Desolation Tritip Chayasombat 

The project salvages the decayed Oldambster farm type by means of inhabitable bracing cube structures.

The Oldambtster farm is one of the most recognizable icons of Oldambt: The volume, the design, and what it symbolized, are the living histories of the area. Hundreds of farms are scattered from linear villages to isolated plots, but only a handful of them survive. The up scaling of agriculture industry made many of the farms redundant and modern family activities now seem unsuited to fill the enormous space.

This is a minimum intervention to help maintain the glory of the Oldambtster farms. Modular cubes act as bracing structure to help the original wooden frames stand tall amidst the decay of the farm. The strategy preserves the most important qualities of the farm, its uniquely massive interior space and what it represents to the community. The modular system makes it efficient to pre-fabricate and assemble, allowing for minimum manufacturing and investment. It can be expanded over time depending on the amount of users and space required. The contrast of old and new material helps dignify the original architecture and creates multiple spaces for community appropriation.

The plug-in inhabitable units penetrate the decomposed barn in order to change the experience the space, reframing boundaries and un-objectifying architecture placed upon scenery. Reorienting experience from one of admiring each other from afar, to one of truly appreciating coexistence.

Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

~ Musa (alayhi s-salām) admonished Pharaoh and the rest of the evil doers in the gathering per Surah Al Dukhan: The Smoke, chapter 44, verse 19;

“And, Do not be arrogant against Allah. I have come to you with clear authority”

The title of this Chapter(Suraah), The Smoke, is about a smoke-filled day. The majority of scholars believe that this refers to a sign of the Day of Judgment. Its fifty-nine verses highlight the mercy of the Quran and address the stubbornness of the powerful and wealthy oppressors among the Meccan elite. It compares them to the people of Pharaoh and the people of Tubba. We are told that the righteous will enjoy the bliss of Paradise while the oppressors, and those who considered themselves mighty in this world, will find torment waiting for them in Hell.

The wrong doers among us amused themselves then and many of us still do but they should be watchful for the day that is filled with smoke. The smoke will envelop the people causing them to cry out that it is a terrible torment. Then they will beg their Lord to remove the punishment at the same time declaring their belief.

We can learn from this suraah and apply to our times as it admonishes about the punishment of God (عز و جل). When the punishment of God comes, then no one can avoid it. Indeed, for the people of Paradise, Allah's (عز و جل) satisfaction is more precious and great than all the blessings that they cherish therein. He (عز و جل) loves those who live up to hubb-i fillah and bughd-i fillah (that is, loving for the sake of Allah and disliking for the sake of Allah). He loves those Muslims who do everything with ikhlâs (utter sincerity) from the core of our hearts.

A'isha ( رضي الله عنها ) recalled the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying:~

“Allaahumma innee A'udu biridhaaka min Sakhatika, wabimu 'aafaatika min 'Uqoobatika, wa A'udhu bika minka, Laa Uhsee Thanaa'an 'Alaika, Anta kamaa Athnaita 'Alaa Nafsika.” ("O Allah! I seek refuge in Your Pleasure front Your Wrath, and in Your Pardon from Your Punishment; and I seek refuge in You from You. I could never praise You enough (as You deserve], You are as You have praised Yourself.")
