We don't talk enough about Ray Nadeem like he was a PERFECT character. One of- if not THE- best character in the series. Sorry no I actually think people should talk MORE ABOUT NADEEM.
I could write a whole essay about this guy.

Fandom ask: Daredevil, Loki Series, All of the Spidermens (like all of them; Tobey Garfield and Holland).
Daredevil,Loki,Spidermen Tobey Garfield and Holland; All
the first character i ever fell in love with: Matt, Loki Peter
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: I basically feel the same as I did when I watched the first time I sort of like Karen a little less after watching it with my brother but I still love her
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: I still have the same ships
my ultimate favorite character™: Matt Loki Peter
prettiest character: Matt Loki Peter
my most hated character: the baddies do a good job at making me not like them
my OTP: Matt/Foggy Loki/Mobius Peter/Harry when I was a young teen and Tobey's Spiderman came out and I remember cooing over them with my friend at the time. Maybe Peter with either/both Ned and MJ in the newer films they are all so sweet.
my NOTP: Matt/Fisk or Matt/Vanessa
favorite episode: Nelson vs Murdock is high up there because of all the flashbacks honestly I love scenes more than full episodes, episode 2
saddest death: Jack, Nadeem and Elena, the not quite death of Mobius because of Loki's expression, Harry, Gwen, May
favorite season: that's really hard because I like pieces of each but I found myself really into season three in my recent rewatch, there's only been one season so far, well since the Spiderman ones are MOVIES I'll go with that It's been so long since I watched Tobey's Spiderman movies but I will probably always be partial to the first tone because of the handful of times I went to see it with friends when it was in theaters. I need to rewatch Andrew's ones because I've only ever seen them each one time when they came to dvd I was so focused on my hyper fixations at the time I didn't make much room for this version :( so maybe the first one?, I loved all of Holland's movies it's hard to choose but maybe N W H is at the front of my mind because it's the newest?
least favorite season: n/a
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: the teachers probably idk
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: can that be like everybody lol, Loki is half trash half idiot baby
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Matt and Foggy Loki and Mobius Peter
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: eh
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: Matt/Nadeem, Loki/Mobius/Sylvie

W, N, A, D, F
W - Westley from The Princess Bride. The streak of me having a thing for blondes started with him, I think.
N - Last names count, right? Because I'm gonna cheat a little and say (Ray) Nadeem from Daredevil.
A - the first one that came to mind was Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil series, but there's also Alfred Pennyworth from Batman is definitely one (I need to watch that Pennyworth series they released).
D - again, is it cheating to say Daredevil?? I'll add on Dwight and Duke from the show Haven, and also Dick Grayson from Batman. (Chris O'Donnell's portrayal of Robin was a real experience for me as a kid.)
F - hmmm I immediately thought of Ferris Bueller, bc that's one of my favorite movies ever and I do love Ferris. Of course, Frank Castle is one. And I'll add in Flynn Ryder bc he's the og Disney crush for me haha
send me five letters and i'll tell you my favorite characters that start with those letters!

Some spoiler-y thoughts on DDS3
I finally got a full night’s of sleep after being awake for about 24 hours lol, so I think I can start communicating like a regular person again. I feel like I still have a lot to process about DDS3 overall, but I thought it might be nice to share a few thoughts while it’s semi-fresh, and maybe later I’ll try to expand on them as need.
Anyway, spoilers below the cut....:)
Overall, this was a wonderful and satisfying season of Daredevil - it felt like they took the things that were notable about S1 and S2 and improved upon them by leaps and bounds. The result was a S3 that was sharply focused and consistently written, plotted like a single focus story (a la S1) while in actuality serving a broad group of equally important characters and intertwining storylines (like S2) - yet I never felt like they lost their grip on the steering wheel. There would be moments in the plot where I’d think, “Wait, are they going to address that plot point / answer that question, etc?” and in the next scene or at least by the next episode, they did. Whoever was in charge of keeping their scripts consistent and not leaving plot holes, extra gold stars to them b/c they did a fucking fantastic job. Kudos to Erik Oleson for coming in with a very clear and intentional plan and executing the shit out of it.
Here are some things that were notable for me this season:
Tumblr media
Matt Murdock. Look, I was pretty worried coming into this that we were getting Dark!Matt and not much else - I love my emo son as much as the next person, but it was hard for me to imagine how we’d get to a positive ending if all we were getting was dark and more dark. And while yes, we did get a lot of dark and emo and raging at God Matt, there were clear and purposeful moments of growth he made throughout the entire series to get from the Matt that washed out of Midland Circle, barely alive, broken and bereft over losing Elektra to the Matt at the end, accepting who he is as DD AND Matt Murdock and ready for whatever the future holds for him and his friends.
Quick aside for my Mattelektra peeps: I wish he could have actually talked about the events of Midland Circle and better processed the trauma of that and losing Elektra - for the most part, it all gets grouped under ‘general rage at God and life’ during the early episodes and none of the people around him at the time, namely Sister Maggie and Father Lanthom, actually understand what happened with Elektra. BUT we do get shown a bunch of Mattelektra scenes from DD and TD and I realize that the show really didn’t need to do that, so I’m trying to be grateful that we were shown that little glimpse into Matt’s mind right before he comes to. Because it was necessary reminder that part of why he’s broken is not just that he lost some of his senses and abilities, but because he lost Elektra - again.
Thanks for indulging my moment there everyone lol. Anyway, Matt Murdock was A++++ in all scenes and states of clothedness. In conclusion: I still love him.
Tumblr media
Avocado Trio feels. As someone who has always enjoyed this trio, but maybe not as much the individual characters on their own, I am really pleased that they actually got the band back together again, and not only that, I came out of this season with positive vibes for both Karen and Foggy but ESPECIALLY Foggy. Goddamn, Foggy was the fucking MVP. First, he looked damn good this year. The haircut and the suits are working for him. But also, this particular team of writers actually wrote Foggy in a way that feels more true to what I had always wanted from Foggy - someone who was smart, resourceful, caring, and most of all, THERE FOR MATT. I felt like his decade long friendship with Matt finally paid off in his characterization and he wasn’t being pushed off to the side to further someone else’s narrative. My favorite moment was when Karen was ready to throw in the towel, but Foggy talks about how everyone has abandoned Matt and he’s not going to do it too. It warmed the cockles of my cold, cold heart.
I’m also pretty satisfied with how they finally revealed Karen’s backstory and damn if they didn’t make me feel sad and impressed with her at various points - her phone call with her dad / her dad telling her to leave after Kevin’s death and the 1v1 face off with Kingpin being two such examples. She might not ever be a favorite of mine but she was represented well this season for sure. I’m also grateful that they actually allowed her and Matt to air their shit out in a semi-realistic way. They acknowledged there was a lot of shit and baggage and didn’t just try to rush them to some kind of romantic conclusion. In fact, this season was refreshing in that romance was never a primary plot for any of the characters! There was enough going on with the story that the sort of angsting that kind of plot usually brings would have just been distracting. Any relationships were contained to people who were already in them, like Foggy and Marci, or Kingpin and Vanessa. The focus for these characters was really on rebuilding trust and the overall friendship / family bonds between all three. That was one of my hopes for the season and it delivered :).
Okay, I’m getting to the point in this post where I’m getting tired with my own babbling LOL, so I’m gonna try to bullet point some more notable moments:
Tumblr media
Kingpin - Smart and menacing and I loved the take on him as being this ultimate spymaster. It was really well done and I think once you saw the full breadth of the conspiracy - it was really good. And I guess in this same point I’ll shout out Vanessa - I was SO glad to see her again and dang, she just has a presence on screen that is hard to match. I am looking forward to seeing her as badass Vanessa Fisk - maybe she hires a freelancer named Elektra Natchios as her own personal assassin since Bullseye is gonna have it out for both Fisks?? Would that not be an AMAZING duo?
Tumblr media
Dex aka Bullseye. I loved how they established his origin and his psychopathy - it made a lot of sense to me how this inherently broken, mentally ill person could have flown under the radar for as long as he did, and that someone like Fisk would be able to manipulate him to his own ends. Wilson Bethel is easy on the eyes for sure, but I thought he did an amazing job playing a guy who always seemed on the edge of cracking. He played all the shades of Bullseye very well. I’m looking forward to seeing him again as the primary big bad and GIVE ME BULLSEYE v ELEKTRA YOU COWARDS. Speaking of which, that reminds me, I want to point out the Bullseye was literally a diagnosed psychopath who was incapable of showing empathy whereas they kept trying to tell us Elektra was a sociopath but she clearly is not - she definitely had some sociopathic tendencies, which likely developed from her very messed up upbringing and exposure to violence, and when they bring her back, she will probably keep on some of those characteristics b/c of the sort of fighter than she is, but let’s just put it to rest already. And yeah, I want those two to give me a 1v1 fight for the AGES. DD who?
Tumblr media
Sister Maggie. LOOK. I don’t feel like I should have been surprised with any of the stuff that happened with Maggie but everything about it was a HIGHLIGHT. I loved the way Joanne Whalley conveyed the character - every time I saw her and Matt interact, I knew it was gonna be good. When they finally reveal her as Matt’s mom (whew!), I was genuinely moved. When she realizes that Matt has found out her secret and is gone, the way she runs to his bed and completely breaks down at losing her son again? I WAS A BLUBBERING MESS. The forgiveness and acceptance in their reconciliation was something my soul desperately needed and I’m so glad we received. We better see more scenes of the Murdocks together in the future!
Tumblr media
Ray Nadeem. Um, who would have thought I'd be so sad to lose Ray by the end of the season! The overall FBI conspiracy felt surprisingly fleshed out and was something I got pretty damn invested in (SO MUCH better than the conspiracy in TPS1). All the shifts and turns and betrayals of this particular storyline could have been very cheesy, but they ended up being working because they were almost character moments first? Because we know Ray and his relationship with Hattley, with Dex, even overall with the FBI, and then of course knowing his home life and his family...every time shit hit the fan, or a personal betrayal occurred, it really hurt. And that we got that super fun escape sequence with Ray and Matt in their civvies and then Ray’s final act of heroism with his dying declaration...RIP Ray. You will be missed.
God, I haven’t even touched on the non character stuff, like the fights and shit, but I gotta wrap it up now before I bore myself to death :). I’m curious what everyone else thought of the season - feel free to hit me up if you wanna chatter about it!!

Daredevil Season 3 was really good. It felt like the writers, actors and directors wanted to prove something. There is so much thought and care into shots and stunt/fight scenes. They give us well thought out characters and dialogue.  I thought all the episodes were well paced except for 3x10, I never felt like stopping until that episode. All seasons of Daredevil have been top notch and honestly my favorite piece of media from Marvel.
I love Matt Murdock so much. I understand him and I liked him this season, even when he was pushing everyone away because I understood why. He goes through so much  this season and I feel such empathy and sympathy for him. he's gets his ass kicked for 12 straight episodes and I love him for it. The underrated Charlie Cox is so good in this role.
I like Karen. But I thought her side story of investigating in the second season was more interesting than in this one. Plus her focus episode/flashback brought the season down. I ship Kastle and Frank never shows up, I was expecting at least something, I guess I set myself up for that disappointment.
I love Foggy so much, and people don’t appreciate him enough. I also liked learning about his family, Marci and watching him run for DA and giving speeches was a delight. My only gripe is that their aren’t enough Foggy gifs in the tag ....
I actually liked Fisk more than in the first season. He manipulates everything around him and is a Goliath of a foe for Daredevil to face.  It's satisfying and also tragic that he is beaten by Matt. Vincent D'Onofrio is perfect and his performance brings a real humanity to his villainy.
At first I was confused as to why we were focusing so much on the FBI but by the end of the series I felt so bad for Ray Nadeem.
I understood Bullseye/Pointdexter and I felt bad for him to an extent. It also should be commended that they were able to make his skill set as something threatening.
I like Elektra and I wished we had gotten a little more from Matt about her like a talk or something. At least a mind visit. :/
I want to go back and watch it again, just so I can appreciate this season.

Marvel’s legendary devil is back.
That’s right, Vincent D’Onofrio is once again playing Wilson Fisk a.k.a. the elegant kingpin of Hell’s Kitchen and the single best thing about that first installment of Netflix’s Daredevil, about Marvel’s blind, vigilante superhero.
Fine, fine: Daredevil, a.k.a. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), is back too, recovering after the events of last year’s The Defenders and headlining the third season of Daredevil after what seems like a long break. (The second season premiered on Netflix way back in 2016.) Critics were allowed to screen the show’s first six episodes and what I’ve seen is pretty good — thanks in large part to D’onofrio.
This doesn’t mean that things can’t go south in the latter half of the season, but at the outset of season three, the show is sticking to what worked in its first season: a friendship we can believe in, a villain that steals the entire show, and a more street-level view of evil rather than some kind of world-ending weapon.
This season finds Murdock bouncing back following The Defenders’ climactic cave-in, which seemingly doomed him and his on-again, off-again, sociopath soulmate Elektra. Also on the mend is on Wilson Fisk who, after season one, has found that he’s got so much more to offer this world than serving his consecutive and lengthy prison sentences for all the crimes he committed. In particular, Fisk wants revenge against everything and everyone who landed him in that prison in the first place.
Violence, death, manipulation — nothing is strictly business, it’s all personal for both Fisk and Murdock this season.
That in mind, here are five initial takeaways from Daredevil season 3:
The first season of Daredevil introduced us to the elegant monster that is D’onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, a bellowing storm of violence and cruelty crackling underneath a surface of quiet sophistication, wealth, and refinement. Daredevil’s second season suffered without Fisk’s gravity, tilting out of control at times as it introduced world-ending mythology and nefarious ninjas. So it’s a relief to have him back for this new season, even if he is behind bars and doing his best to figure out how to get out — and, more importantly, how to get back at the people who put him there.
D’Onofrio commands every scene he’s in, even when we’re watching someone else watch him (part of this season’s plot involves Fisk being under FBI surveillance). D’Onofrio calibrates every detail of his performance, down to the most seemingly forgettable stuff, and somehow makes those things unforgettable.
One of my favorite things this season is watching D’Onofrio eat things: The utensils shrink in his gigantic paws, yet he holds each one gracefully and lightly, like a conductor at the symphony. You get the sense that it’s hard for Fisk to move in this gentle manner because he’s holding back a force that’s used to crushing skulls. And in this controlled gentleness, there’s sophistication — making the prison gruel seem like sous-vide steak.
There’s a storytelling gimmick early in the season in which Fisk appears as Murdock’s evil conscience, goading Murdock to kill him. It’s not particularly convincing and the character comes off shouty and slapdash. I get that this is Murdock’s skewed view of Fisk as opposed to how we are really supposed to see him, but his filtered presence in these scenes makes it seem like the producers read the season one reviews and tried to figure out how to squeeze in more D’Onofrio — which is understandable, but not particularly beneficial to those scenes.
But when D’Onofrio is allowed to be Fisk, to really embody the cruelty and spirit of the villain, he taps into a strain of excited fear, like the tingle you feel after lightning flashes but thunder hasn’t yet struck. And lucky for us, and for this season, he invites us all to live in it.
Mavel’s Netflix universe has gotten super crowded. Since Daredevil kicked the whole thing off in 2015, there’s been multiple seasons of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, and one season of The Punisher and the superhero team-up series The Defenders. And each of those solo shows comes with their own roster of supporting characters and villains.
However, from what I’ve seen of the season (and this could change), Daredevil seems uninterested in doing any giant crossovers, nor is it particularly concerned with fusing itself to those other shows. Daredevil is not like Iron Fist or Luke Cage, which both greatly benefit from guest stars from the other series. It’s fun to watch Cage and Danny Rand and their strikingly different personalities bounce off one another or see different characters’ interactions with Claire Temple — but Daredevil’s characters have plenty of chemistry already with each other.
Daredevil has a good core of protagonists in Matt, Foggy (Elden Henson), and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll), and their friendship is one of the more believable and human things in Marvel’s litany of shows. Adding in more characters, like what happened with Elektra, The Punisher, the Hand, and The Stick in season two, can work, but it can also, if done incorrectly, make the show feel rushed and congested.
The result this season is a tighter story about the trio’s friendship, or rather the toll Matt’s superheroism has taken on it. Being friends with Matt is emotionally tiring and physically draining — he isn’t ever honest with Foggy and Karen, nor is he particularly available when they need him to be. At one point they don’t even know if he’s alive, and the show plays around with that idea, that maybe just because you do good things or keep your loved ones safe doesn’t mean that they always see it, or that you see all the times you’ve let them down.
The ongoing refrain of the first season of Daredevil was that Fisk’s corruptive influence has woven its way into the economy, into the government, and into the police force. Murdock and his allies dispatched countless crooked cops and Fisk henchmen in that installment.
This time, the show wants to show how that corruption happens, and how Fisk’s superpower isn’t strength or being really rich, but rather how he’s able to take advantage of those cracks that let his influence seep in. What he’s found this season is FBI Agent Ray Nadeem (Jay Ali), an agent looking to move up in the bureau who can’t because of extenuating circumstances — the most debilitating being crippling debt that the agency sees as a corruption risk. Fisk obviously takes an interest in Nadeem, which he parlays into a greater advantage.
Some of the ways that Fisk gathers his intel and amasses his power requires a certain suspension of disbelief: Fisk benefits from writing that always makes him the smartest person in the room, often at the expense of everyone else, including extremely gullible FBI agents acting completely idiotic and forgetting that this is a man who makes El Chapo seem like the Barefoot Contessa.
Nevertheless, this season puts more emphasis on the regular people living in these super-powered times and caught in the crossfire between good and evil — and in the process makes some rather bleak points about how helpless regular folk would be in the face of it all.
[embedded content]
Bullseye — a major villain from the Daredevil comic books — becomes a major figure this season. Before you accuse me of spoilers, Marvel has been touting the marksman villain in its promos for Daredevil. But because I don’t want to give too much away, I’m just going to say that the origin story works because it’s told in a way that’s of interest to Fisk. It’s not so much about the character’s origin, but rather how Fisk figures out how to weasel his way into his head.
Oh, and it is very entertaining to watch Bullseye being really, really good at throwing things!
A season of Daredevil isn’t complete with one extended and beautifully choreographed fight sequence that happens in a hallway:
The one that appears in season three, episode four has a different feeling than the one above, from the first season, but it’s an equally good reminder that Daredevil still has some of the most innovative and thrilling fight choreography on television.
Daredevil’s full third season will be available on Netflix on October 19, 2019.
