Comments on All of us are Dead
-Its an amazing show. I love Korean zombies and the way they move their body. It's terrifying.
-The characters are mostly well written and nice to watch. Which led us to my major problem with the show: The frustrating deaths. Don't get me wrong, I watch Game of Thrones so losing nice characters is something I'm no stranger to but c'mon, the way All of us are Dead do it... It is just so frustrating and disappointing. Like, their set up these characters arcs that led to absolutely nothing. Na Yeoh, the pregnant girl, Min Eujin...
Na Yeoh was a terrible person but such a good character. They tease us with this possible redeem arc just for her to die like that? How can they waste this character and this amazing actress like that? Fr, I'm gonna watch Squid Game just because she is in it (and I already know she dies there too lmao)
Min Eujin should have been the one to kill her bullies. Not that asshole who was one of them
-What is y'all problem? I came to the # of the show and y'all are all thirsting over Yoon Gwinam. Y'all need therapy fr (yes, I'm judging). It's been a while since a character pissed me off like that.
-The commander ordering the soldiers to shoot at the kids in episode 9 was brutal. I get his concern but c'mon. Tie and gag them up, take them to quarantine and then run blood exams on them to see if they are infected or not.
-On-jo 's Dad was a real one. Cheong-San is the best male bestie you can ask for. Nam-ra really had a glow up after she became a half zombie. Su-hyeok is a bad ass. Gyeong-Su deserved better (including haunting Na-yeoh until the cool death redemption that it was stolen from us). Na-yeoh was a bitch but deserved a better end. Ha-ri and Mi-Jin chemistry was amazing, two baddies in two different ways. On-jo was cool, she is like the "mom" of the group, the voice of reason. Dae-Su is the tank and the comic relief of the group. Joon-yeong RIP.
I basically liked all of the characters, minus that mullet asshole
-Its a really well done show, the major down point for me is how frustrating it is sometimes. Like, no catharsis. I hope they change this is s2 bc I almost dropped this season because of this. I'm glad that I didn't but still.
-Lesson of the show: don't bully people y'all.

I just want a movie where Lucy Liu, Ming Na-Wen, Michelle Yeoh, and Sandra Oh get together and kick ass. If they could give us a shitty raunchy comedy just for kicks with young Asian stars in Joy Ride they can give us a cool simple badass action flick for fun too. Where is it. Give it to me

i'm currently thinking about how, for so long, you couldn't be an asian on the screen unless you were a side character that was pretty much built on stereotypes. and there are standout asian actors, but i'm a teenager so legends who made a name for themselves are kinda before my time. but both michelle yeoh and ke huy quan are the embodiment of not giving up on your dreams. even if it takes a while, you're time will come, and in a way that honors yourself. every time i see another post or edit of their oscar wins, i tear up.
i didn't grow up watching asians on tv. my only likeness as a child used to be mulan, but people at school used to tell me i couldn't just pick her as my favorite disney movie because she's asian (which, kids are dumb and that reasoning is stupid and besides the fact the she was the only representation kid-me had, mulan had a great storyline and message and characters and soundtrack and it was and still is a really great movie). i remember seeing characters like mike chang from glee on tv, but he was a character always pushed to the side, and those shows always had a way of just mocking and reaffirming stereotypes.
i think about how sometimes the only space for asian women was so that they could be sexualized, or how there was even less room for asian men on the screen unless they fit a certain look. how asians had to become an image to get their space.
and in recent years, the representation for asians has increased, and i'm so thankful. i wish i had that when i was younger, but i'm glad to have it now. with movies like shang chi or crazy rich asians, we get to see how respecting and celebrating culture is significant, but it's also not an asian's entire identity. how we are still people with stories that deserve to have main characters.
i'm so happy that eeaao gave michelle yeoh and ke huy quan their space. how this door opened for them and asians to be seen and respected. how they inspire people to dream big. how it feels possible for big dreams to really and truly happen.
when i was a little girl, i was obsessed with superheroes, which led me to my obsession with the tv show agents of shield. and i adored melinda may, played by ming na wen, who was a bad*ss character. and her character revolved not around her culture (although culture was not ignored) but how even without it she is still a character with a complex history and development and personality.
it's nice to be living and experiencing an era where asians are getting their recognition. representation is so important because it reaches so many people and lets them know that somewhere out there, achieving the dream, even for someone who looks like us, is within our reach.
we finally get to exist in the mainstream. and for that, my inner child is so grateful.

CHAPTER 76: Lost and Out of Time
Before the ashes of the riots had cooled, the Congregation rose to power, quickly absorbing or driving out the lesser gangs within the Black and Asian communities. Soon they expanded, making contact with the cartel and subjugating them.
All-Kill was there to witness the first Stand ritual. The disgraced luchadora, Phantasma Juarez, graciously accepted her own Stand from Dust, somehow finding a kindred in the preacher. He remained as pious as always, saying to the masked woman, “I see your heart, and it is pure. You will certainly lead the worthy into Paradise. You will be a true hero.”
All-Kill always saw through him. The dream of Paradise was empty. He believed only in his own ambition.
With the fast friendship between his new ‘business partners’, All-Kill offered his comrade, Gangak, a position alongside him in the organization. What he needed now were allies.
He had already started by taking in Sang-ok. Then Gangak acquired his own Stand, in a sense finally becoming equals with All-Kill. And later, in the ruins of a small town in Northern California, All-Kill found a young woman like himself. A girl born with her Stand.
Thus All-Kill’s family, the Daesang, was born.
***
1995. On the docks of San Francisco, with the Golden Gate Bridge in sight, Gangak makes his way discreetly, avoiding the streetlight. He could see his ride, a freighter about to embark on a voyage to the Far East.
Gangak smiled confidently as he walked to the pier.. But in the shadows he spied a glint of light and a chill ran down his spine. The glint stepped towards, the light reflecting off a pair of thick glasses.
“What do you think you’re doing here, Gangak?” All-Kill demanded.
Gangak gulped, but he stood firm. “I’m leaving, Ganmyeol. That’s what.”
“Don’t say that as if you’re going on some trip…” the boss says, bitterness coating his voice. “You’re bringing your crew with you. Bringing old man Sanjo. You’re abandoning me.”
“That’s right…”
“Why? What has brought on this absolute betrayal?”
The taller man bristled and pointed aggressively at his best friend. “That kind of shit right there, for a start! Do you ever LISTEN to yourself?!”
All-Kill narrowed his eyes. “I’m just trying to understand… Why would you try to do this to me.”
“To you?! I’m not the one siding with the man who destroyed our neighborhood! A man who helped instigate the fucking riots!!”
“Is that what this is about?” the man in black sighed. “I told you… I’m biding my time. Of course I’m not on board with this deranged Paradise scheme, but if I fight with Dust now, I can’t guarantee that I’d win. Who’ll defend our people if I’m gone?”
“I-!” Gangak stammered, but All-Kill continued to speak over him.
“And as soon as I have the right opening, I’ll take care of him. You just have to be patient.”
Gangak stared at his friend, a lump building in his throat as his worst nightmares came true before him. “AND THEN WHAT?!!” he shouts. “Once that bastard’s dead, what are you going to do?!”
All-Kill kept calm. “Dust holds LA in the palm of his hand. Once he’s eliminated, there’ll be a scramble to fill the vacuum of power. A little discord is inevitable, but if we take control quick enough, we can keep it to a minimum. That’s why I need you-”
“No. No way! I don’t want this!” the bigger man shakes his head, “I didn’t want to control LA, I just wanted to protect my people!”
Finally losing his composure, All-Kill snapped. “THIS is how we protect our people! Unless we take a position of strength, they will ALWAYS be under threat!”
“The threat is YOU!!”
Gangak’s voice resounds. His best friend, closer to him than a brother, shudders at the sound. He stares through the thick lenses of his glasses, breathing deeply, as if he’s been struck across the face. “...What did you say?”
“T-The… The threat… is you…” Gangak repeats, his breathing also heavy, “You’re gathering all these people. Working for Dust and that woman in the mask… You took Park’s son for yourself! You picked up that creepy ass murderer girl! And you… You’re one of them now…! God, I’m one of them now… And maybe… Maybe you were always one of them, deep down…”
He raised his face, standing firm in his resolve. “It's too much. The fact I had to sneak out of my home, knowing you wouldn’t let me leave on my own… You’re no protector. You’ll drag everyone around you into your nightmare. That’s what makes you the threat.
All-Kill’s mouth hung open. Struggling to speak, he said “Gangak... come back with me… don't walk away from me…”
“No.”
“Gangak…”
“No.” The hazy figure of his Stand emerges from Gangak’s spirit. He gestures down. “I finally noticed, after all these years. When you bring out BLACK KEYS… You ball your hand into a fist…”
All-Kill looks down at his shaking fist, then back up at Gangak. His pleading expression morphed to pure rage and he propelled himself at his former best friend. “BLACK KEYS!!”
Gangak's Stand fully materialized next to him. “SLEEPYHEAD!!!”
The foggy Stand landed a punch right on All-Kill’s cheek. All-Kill groaned as the knuckle grinds against him, but he still moved to pierce the Stand’s arm. But he was too slow. He had to watch as SLEEPYHEAD moved its other arm in front of Gangak, somewhat merging with him. And with that, they both dematerialized into fog, disappearing on the wind. The boss of Koreatown is left to stare at the sky, the lights and smog of the city blotting out the stars.
He wasted no time looking for a replacement. No sooner did he return home did he pay a visit to a certain local troublemaker. The girl did not disappoint, earning her place by All-Kill’s side after her first mission. Not a tear was shed the day he learned of Gangak’s end.
This is how All-Kill’s life was. He built his branch of the Congregation like his fellow bosses did, but his people weren’t like them. They trusted each other, believed in each other. They were a family. A family with power, wealth and purpose.
Everything he could want, he had.
All except one thing.

El tango de Roxanne. Season finale. Part one. In an effort to both support Otto’s grieving process and get Maria to confess to gaslighting Marisol into falsely accusing James of rape, the five families put on a benefit showcasing James’s greatest achievements. So, I'm watching All of us are Dead and damn this show's deaths are upsetting. Like they bait us into this possible character arc and then boom, they kill the character.
Na-yeoh was an asshole but she deserved better. And the pregnant girl? I relate to the feeling of wanting the viewer to think that nobody is safe but damn this is just stupid and disappointing.

I'm writing a fic where a Death/Rio from another universe shows up but she looks completely different to Aubrey's Rio and Agatha has to deal with them both. I'm not sure how to resolve it yet, Agatha choosing Aubrey's Rio or choosing both.
I haven't chosen actors based on Aubrey/Rio and Kathryn/Agatha, just actors I'm a fan of.

The fucking ageism in the Buffy reddit threads: Sarah Michelle Gellar shouldn’t play Buffy again because she’s middle age! She’s *gasp* Forty-eight!!!
First of all, not with that fucking attitude. Also SMG is very active and fit.
Second, Sarah has never done her stunts in the show before and I doubt she would start now.
Third, Ex-fucking-scuse Me????
Just because someone is in their forties, pushing 50, it doesn’t mean they’re decrepit.
Tell that to Michelle Yeoh, Ming-Na Wen, Michelle Hurd, and Jeri Ryan.
Also, again, this is what Stunt people are for!
Say what you will about the sequel series but saying it shouldn’t be done because Sarah is too old, fuck that noise.
