hello! read the wlw vampire story you recommended and I loved it and was then surprised to see it was written by the author of The Hacienda, which I didn't enjoy. I was wondering if you read it? It has been pretty popular on booktube!

no i haven't! i actually had never heard of her at all, which did surprise me when i looked her up and saw she had published a book. and i very much did get the vibe that it was the kind of book that would be popular on booktube (not in a negative way like. it's just a Vibe, you can tell) so i was surprised that i had never heard of her because i do love booktube reviews lol

when i found that story i was just in the Mood for vampires (it's what i've been writing for like the last month now) and had literally just searched vampires on that website and was reading a bunch of the short stories, and that one just happened to be the best one, imo. and then i briefly looked her up before recommending it just because i like to do a vibe check before i recommend someone, hahaha

Noel couldn't think clearly, not even after talking with Nico. It only took a matter of minutes before anger overtook them again. Heart kept racing as they went over the last conversation before shit went wild and they got eggnog all over their fucking sweater. Who the fuck was that witch? A spy for Silas? Their blood was boiling. How dare they do that? How dare he? For a moment Noel is still, taking deep breaths as they feel their palpitations continued. You can't turn now, they thought. They were hanging by a thread, but that didn't stop them from taking a deep breath and searching Rachel Elle by scent alone. It was hard, they stood still for a little bit, and then began charging towards where they thought Rachel was. They bumped into someone on their quest and managed to mumble out a quick apology and a warning, "You should get out of here." Noel continued to walk not batting the pixie another look. When their eyes spotted the witch, muscles tensed. "Where the fuck do you think you're going?" A pause. "Surely not rat Jas out." From the corner of their eye, they saw a bit of movement. To be expected as people continued to leave the Magnolia Inn, others in a bigger rush than others. But Noel wasn't really scared of what was happening, concerned, sure, but right now their mind was only preoccupied with the dark witch, with the rat in front of her.

Amrita had no idea how she got here. She thought it was a shortcut to Shadow Lake, and somehow she was deep into the forest. While most would feel panicked at this occurrence, her steps became slower. It had been a busy week of settling in and job interviews, and while they were lost and it was cold, she felt at peace. Being surrounded by trees and dirt and plants made her feel relaxed. Her tensed shoulders eased up and she took a deep breathe only as she exhaled she felt the ground shake underneath her. Eyes went wide open as her fingers shivered attempting to see where the noise came from, around her vines began blossoming. She followed the noise and found someone else deep in the forest.

Awe clearly present in Amrita's eyes as she watched the solid piece of earth crumble into smaller chunks. At the other woman's words, she sheepishly smiled, quickly raising her hands and shaking them as to motion no. "Oh! Sorry. I wasn't trying to sneak up on you, I'm actually lost?" There was uncertainty in her voice even though it was true. "I thought I was taking a shortcut and I just... have no idea where I am. I didn't mean to interrupt though! You're very skilled." Around her the vines stopped etching closer and sunk under the snow.

When business was slow, sometimes Rae would put on Louis Armstrong, the sounds of jazz a staple growing up, bringing back memories of dancing around the apartment on her mom's toes, too young to understand that anything bad had happened or could ever happen. She was making a mess of the landscape, much to her chagrin, though the planned on fixing things back the way she'd found them when she was done. It was important to train her magic, she'd always been taught, and years of solitude had made her adept at training on her lonesome. She liked using her earth magic to help the world grow, but sometimes it was important to remember it's more dangerous capabilities as well. Especially when greeted with unexpected company. Rae glanced over her shoulder at the person approaching, calmly drawling out, "It ain't nice to sneak up on a lady, you know."
