Who has the funniest reaction to REN officially announcing they're together?

ohhh man some of the younger kids for sure. my first reaction is definitely to say thoma and lani, i always see them becoming fucking hilarious as they get older. they would tease ray sooo hard i bet. like oh man you got it bad dont you? living your life for them. growing as a person for them. CRINGE. all with love of course but yk how brothers be<3

honestly i dont ever really imagine any of them being overly shocked because like- with the exception of the Youngest ones all of these kids watched the three of them grow up together for at Least a few years, and they all saw how close they were. so it just kinda makes sense that yk. theyd be together in this as well. i think there could be funny potential in gilda and anna or whoever else arguing about if emma is in love with norman or ray and emmas just like. surprise :D frankly i think most of the humor is gonna come fromt teasing ray. that boy is so teasable. loser boy in love<3

If I can add more to this post: first, me and a friend had been working on translating the Religion chapter of the literature book over the past year, so I can try to coordinate with her on how to release what we’ve got so far in the near future.

Second, I also remember reading in Mystic Code that Shirai mentioned how badly affected his grandfather had been years after another relative of theirs had killed themselves. Considering that the topic of suicide was discussed in the same/similar way in the Spirit Photographer Saburo Kono oneshot, I can’t help but get the sense that it would have bother Shirai’s conscience in the long run if TPN still went with the original route of Ray succeeding in killing himself.

Third, regarding the Judas themes: From my perspective as a both a Christian and a fan of TPN, while I did at first think similarly about associating Ray with Judas Iscariot in the earlier chapters, his character arc by the end of the story can be more accurately summarized as like one of a sinner who had been shown grace and had been transformed by it (I’ve discussed this in greater detail on this website here). Sonju would have been my next candidate as a Judas figure, but he surprised me greatly when he turned out to be a good example of an individual who is a genuinely religiously devout individual yet also struggles with inner motives that are more selfish and sinful in nature. If anything, Peter Ratri automatically takes this position by default due to both betraying his brother James, and him choosing to kill himself instead of taking Emma’s offer to live together with the cattle children near the end.

Ye ye; it’s stated in the Mystic Code Book, the official fan book that features interviews with Shirai and Demizu delving into the production of the series, along with multiple Q&A sections where they answer questions from fans.

I highly recommend reading it. For me, it helped contextualize a number of decisions I questioned with the series while going through it (something I feel might have been frustrating for fans reading the series as it was released, wondering if Shirai had just forgotten about certain things or felt they weren’t important), such as the genre shift between Grace Field and Goldy Pond being influenced by the release of Dr. Stone.

I repeat, this does not come up in the Mystic Code Book. However, Kei Toda may reference parallels between them in her book, The Promised Neverland read with English and American Literature, specifically in the chapter that focuses on religious inspiration for the series. Summary: January 2046. Peter Ratri has a diabolical idea to punish Isabella after the evasion of the children. Not only will she be named Grandmother and will be forced to continue to perpetuate the system, but she will have to have two children. A son to replace Ray, a daughter to take over in the future.

Sandy and Sonya at Goldy Pond never thought Demons could have human emotions/reactions when going through the same things they did

Norman never considered any other way since his plan was the safest option

Ray didn't see any other way out other than sacrificing himself

and emma says no to ALL OF IT by just CONSIDERING another way

(and even though it would be cool if she faced more consequences/opposition to her ideals its still a great message that considering other perspectives of people you think less of is how you survive)

yeah i impulsively decided to give the promised neverland a rewatch just because i was remembering how crazy fucked up emma and ray’s relationships with isabella are. tbh house escape arc is the only part of tpn that i care about because it’s so important what the house represents as a structure of cyclical self-oppression and cannibalization, and for emma in particular it’s the lie that traditional feminine motherhood (lying down and taking it) is the only feasible act of resistance against the role you were born into (meat). the house is an alternate death sentence, the idea that your only choice is between killing yourself or killing every other person you can in a desperate climb to the top. but there is only one inevitable fate for a sacrificial lamb who walks herself to the slaughter of her own free will. the family structure (specifically the dynamic of daughters inheriting their mothers’ trauma) is the means by which these capitalistically efficient lessons are passed down. anyways sister krone’s death cutting between shots of the children cheerfully eating sausage and then the final shot of the shadows of prison bars cutting across her corpse. yeah. you get it

Bit of a delay but do you have any favorite or disliked tropes for NER?

mmmm idk if it counts as tropes but i Hate the fics where ray just. deadass dislikes emma and norman?? like even his internal monologue is just Mean😭 also the jealousy trope. ive only ever read One fic that handled that well w them tbh. i just cant see Any of them being jealous. they care too much about eachother- ray would w out a doubt rather just norman and emma be together if that makes them happy than none of them be together at all. and its the same for emma and norman.

i really like the "ray has known his feelings since he was a kid" trope. is that a trope? idk but its my religion 🫶🏻 ray knew first, norman knew he liked emma from the start, but i think he wouldnt realize his feelings for ray until they are re-united. this mini comic from @/vinokurin_purin's insta lives in my mind rent free and is exactly how i see that going. emma would find out last bc- like you always say- she would not hesitate to initiate that relationship LMAO. i really enjoy when people just write them as really touchy and sweet bc thats My love language so im projecting a bit but. oh well. i also enjoy when emma is written as a bit pushy if its done right KDBDKE shes so funny in the fics where shes like. trust me bro. youre in love with me. come to this realization🔫😐

Emma, Norman, Ray live in post-naruto/post-boruto-canon I think...(I didn't watch boruto actually, so I'm not sure about that) 

anyway, they don’t have any contact with the canon characters of Naruto, but they may be distant descendants of well-known characters

Norman is definitely from the Hyuga clan ( as @fullscoreshenanigans noticed this in the previous post ❤️) he is a very soft and gentle boy so I thought the style of gentle fist would suits him

I'm not sure about Ray, he can be from Nara clan, but from Uchiha clan as well

If Ray is Nara, he can paralyze the enemy with the technique of shadow possession. Norman attacks this enemy with the Eight Trigrams or something. Emma will cover both of them.

But if Ray is Uchiha it's cool too, and add tension between him and Norman during the chunin exam. I haven’t seen teams where the guys have similar kekkei genkai 

(It should be noted that Norman and Ray fell in love with each other before the Chunin Exams and they could not take fighting each other seriously. BUT if Emma was forced to fight with the boys in the exam, her "have a crush on Norman and Ray" would not stop her from beating the shit out of them. because her career as a shinobi and her future earnings depend on it.)

What about Emma. She came from a civilian family and has a lot of siblings. Emma became a shinobi because her family are not traders and becoming a shinobi is the only way to earn a lot of money.  Emma has a lot of chakra, but she does not have clan techniques. so she practices a lot and never gives up trying to create her own techniques. there is a possibility that she will succeed, just as it happened for example with Minato. 

Emma does not spare Norman and Rey during training, she uses all possible dirty tricks to defeat them. For the same reason, she was the first of the three to receive the title of Chunin.

Perhaps in the future Emma would like to create her own clan, but while she is in a relationship with two heirs of other great clans...this creates a very awkward situation

To the Emma planned everything 'alone' part:

Okay... I see it now. My explanation was a bit shitty there. What I meant to say, was, that in my opinion, Emma felt like she should accomplish everything alone and not to make the others worry about herself. (I didn't want to make it look like that the others didn't do anything 😭)

This mindset of hers comes back numerous times in canon and in fanfictions. Just to get to the two most memorable examples (at least it's the top 2 for me);

1: After the escape. She didn't told the group, that she feels unwell after she cut down her ear. This caused her to faint in a very bad moment. Thankfully Sonju and Mujika saved the day, but if they weren't there... Ray might have died or get captured because the group surely wanted to help Emma and stayed by her side.

2: "Was there a Reward?" (I'm not sure how Ray exactly asked that, but this is the point of his question). After the Seven Wall and just before they could go to the Human World, he senses that something is not okay with Emma behaviour. I think more kid from the GF group did (like Gilda, Norman, etc) but Ray is the one who also went through the Seven Wall madness so he was the one asking. And Emma lies... straight to Ray, because (jet again) she doesn't want anyone to worry about her.

TPN Brainrots part 2:

Warning: just like the in the previous part... There will be Manga Spoilers.

Since I was unable to finish part 3 of my comic for Emma's birthday (due to being in a place where bringing a laptop was not advised) I will do my head canons and theories on her.

So today's post is about: Emma

Emma is a protagonist in the wrong genre. That was my first thought when I finished season 1 for the first time. Of course now I know how much more complicated her personality is. Introducing her first from the Trio was a really good choice in my opinion, because her cheerful, hopeful, happy and naive personality makes you believe that everything in all right with their lives. Her point of view up until Connie's death really shows how easy it is to believe in a comfortable lie. (not to forget that in canon they're 11-12)

Emma's appearance explained:

Just like I did with Ray... I have something unique to add to each drawing of her. First let's talk about the Freckles! I'm a big fan of interesting character traits, such us freckles, moles, scars, tooth gaps, vitiligo or anything similar to that. Also the red/orange hair🧡! My second favourite hair color in anime & character history (first is black🖤).

When colouring I like to use vivid colours for her clothes (mostly red or orange to bring out her hair). Maybe that's why, my favourite outfit is what she wore in the Goldy Pond Arc.

In the manga colouring above if you look closely, Emma has faint scars on her knees and elbows. Since she most likely do what her heart says before thinking, I imagine that she didn't mind if she scrapped her knees or bruised her elbow, while playing with her friends and family. Physically active kids often fall while playing but, falling hard then getting up again all by yourself is a good way to symbolise their in journey. (Old drawing of mine😅⬇️)

Leader of the Grace Field Group:

Emma simply had to get into the Leader's role after Norman's shipment. I'm sorry to say that but Ray was a bit useless. He was lost in his own pain and gave up all hope (I mean... valid, but still), so she had to plan everything. Norman's letter and the other kids (Gilda, Don, Thoma, Lanni, etc) helped a lot, but she was practically alone. She couldn't even grieve Norman properly. Don't forget that Emma is smart and an amazing actor. She fooled Isabella thinking she gave up too (not to mention that time she slowed her heartbeat so Mom doesn't know she was lying).

My forever favourite moment (Idk why didn't I mention this in the Brainrots part 1) is Emma slapping some sense into Ray (pun intended😁). Like that setting and that scenery is my Roman Empire. Her catching a burning match just in time, not caring about burning her hand, then convincing Ray to excape with her and the rest of the group (Okay actually... let's be honest... she basically had to drag him out of the House). The first glimpse of what Emma is capable on her own. Nerves of steel for cutting her ear off too (her first big sacrifice just to save the others).

After the Excape, she got a lot of help from Ray who also apologised for his behaviour. The two of them comforting each other after thinking Norman died is just such a heart warming scene. Meeting with Sonju and Mujika was a big turning point for Emma, because of three things;

1: Okay first she was scolded because of her recklessness as well as Ray for trying to play the hero, but that not strongly Mujika or demon related. The world opened up for the whole group. They learnt about the Promise and how the world was divided into two.

2: Emma learned and saw from first hand, that not all demon are evil. Mujika helped them despite their differences and the end of that week Emma thrusted her so much she even showed her the photographs of her family and told her about Norman too.

3: Receiving the neklace and the advice to search for the Seven Wall while they're on their journey.

Arriving to B06-32 and meeting Mister/Yuugo there was a new challenge. All the kids saw another 'Isabella' who tried to kill them. Emma, then Ray were the first ones who saw through his facade.

Goldy Pond Arc was Emma time to shine as a leader and as an individual too. Meeting Lucas and the Goldy Pond squad and immediately connecting to them shows how much she cares about others. Her bonding time with Lucas as they uncover the mysteries surrounding the identity of William Minerva.

Fun fact: In my fanfic I like to age up the Grace Field Trio roughly to Oliver's age, because I think this way their personalities are more dominant and clear.

Emma's relationship with adults:

I like to think that Emma never saw Isabella as a monster (not even after discovering the truth). And as truthful as it is. I think Isabella formed a deeper bond with Emma than with her own son. That's because from the Grace Field Trio, only Emma could have been saved by Mom. With the Mom/Sister Program, Emma would have been able to live on, but it's against her nature to harm anyone. Although I found it interesting that that was the original composition of the manga. Emma becoming a Mom and Gilda becoming a Sister (correct me if I know this wrong). Also this picture under... I found it on Pinterest and it's reflects back to my theory of what might happen to the boys.

Meeting Yuugo and Lucas were a complete different experience for the Grace Field kids. The Bunker Dads were the caring parents both group (Grace Field & Goldy Pond) needed and deserved. Not to mention how Emma reminds me both the young and hopeful Yuugo from the past and the clever and patient Lucas of the present. Spending almost two years on the B06-32 shelter while searching for the Seven Wall makes their last goodbye 1000% more heart breaking.

Back to Grace Field Arc is when Emma meets Isabella again. She gets closer slowly but she doesn't have an emotional barricade as high up as Ray or even Norman. Emma forgave her easier, but that doesn't mean she justified the things Mom did with her family. She simply realised that Isabella had no other choice if she wanted to stay alive.

Making the new Promise and the Human World:

First of all King of Paradise Arc? Realising that Norman is still alive?! Oh the the happy tears when I first read that🖤🤍🧡. (Although to tell the truth Ray slapping Norman as soon as he sees him was such a right choice in my opinion) Emma breaking down in tears and hugging Norman was such an emotional and wholesome scene. But the argument after... let's just say I don't like miscommunication and/or characters keeping important secrets to themselves. (*glances at the GF Trio* "All three of you is in trouble")

Ohh Seven Wall Arc my beloved 🧡🖤. I like every bit of this story but Seven Wall Arc holds a special space in my heart. That Arc still holds so much potential to play around. The demon God's power to manipulate time, space and play around with Emma's and Ray's memories was wild. For the demon God name... I call them Elari. (Yes I stared at that nonsense of a word until it looked like a name). It was such a nice touch that the demon God only wanted to talk to Emma, but I couldn't help but feel a bit bad for Ray, because I think he was worried as hell when he woke up alone without Emma on his side. (I also sometimes think about what kind of Reward he would have received if he stayed with Elari).

The Reward Emma got is... without a question... cruel, and I think it was not needed, but I also can't think about something else what she could have gave to Elari if not her memories.

She deserves happiness and I can't say how much I cried when the Ray and Norman + everyone else found her in the human world. In the end I'm happy that Emma and all of them got a relatively happy ending.

Head canon to Human World and Reward: Emma's necklace!! It holds her memories. They just somehow have to find a way to unlock it.
