This has become more and more important to me as I look at all of the decisions in my life. I can see where I have grown to love myself and I can see where I have got to press to love myself even more. This is the compass to true love of self. Calling myself crazy or too difficult for anyone to ever “get” let alone be in a relationship with. Insisting that you’ll be hood forever because it’s your preference. Saying you’ll never get promoted because you won’t deal with XYZ or that you’ll never lose weight because of _______. “I’m glad I don’t have that kind of money because I’d never ________.” What we’re doing is providing excuses in advance for our lack of effort. There’s an immense amount of power in our words … all of the internal conversation manifests itself in your life. Be kind with yourself. Be inwardly generous. Speak UP about the things you want. We should never be ashamed of wanting to live an abundantly amazing and healthy life. #mytaughtyou

today was AMAZING!! i traveled to atlanta for the @nocrumbsleft book tour. as if meeting teri wasn’t great enough, she brought @myleik with her!! 2 greats on one stage!! it exceeded my expectations. the conversation was awesome, the goodie bag was full of great stuff that teri talks about in her feed, i met myleik thanks to my sister @naturalblueangel (i was fanning out with too much shyness to approach her) and then there’s teri. here’s the thing, you all know how much i hate cooking. following teri makes me want to cook. she inspires me because nothing about her is basic...period! so i realize that i don’t mind cooking, i just don’t want to cook basic. ok, so i met her, and @lauricebell, got more goodies from @zach_attack_chicago, got my booked signed, was gifted a bottle of her favorite olive oil (@luciniitalia), took photos with teri, took photos with my sister, and then teri tells me to wait. y��all, she gifted me a patty bowl!! this beautiful handmade bowl is inspired by her mother, patty, and it cannot be purchased, only gifted by teri. she said she felt i deserved it. me??? this means the world to me. i know how it feels to miss my own mom and to be gifted with something inspired by her mom 😢! thank you teri!! i will cherish this FOREVER! thanks to myleik for sharing a moment of her time to meet me and thank you to my sister who made so much of today possible! i absolutely love you!! 😘😘 if she’s coming to your city, run, don’t walk and purchase your tickets. you do not want to miss this. #nocrumbsleft #teriturner #myleik #mytaughtyou #booktour #atlanta #imnotcooking2nite #whole30 #food #foodblogger #foodforthought #luciniitalia #foodgawker #foodie (at Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta - MJCCA) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByOslVbBu9f/?igshid=1id0a3a32vake

This is one of the many reasons I love @myleik thank you for sharing #Repost @myleik ・・・ liiiiisten. most of my #summit21 talk happened on the couch because standing for an hour in heels postpartum is AMBITIOUS!😝 but I meant what I said. don’t show up to another event without a plan ... WHO do you want to meet? stick to my 3 RUN IN RULE. first time you meet someone just say hello and introduce yourself. second time introduce again and refer to last time you met (ex: Hi Lisa. I’m Myleik, we met briefly a few months ago at XYZ). third time when you speak, they SHOULD remember you ... that’s when you go for the kill (selling whatever it is you’re trying to sell). lastly, don’t always be so pressed to meet the “talent” ... a lot of times you’re sitting right across from the next big thing ... maybe the next big thing is you! #mytaughtyou 📷: @shann.christian

While it hurts like crazy to see a decade of memories disappear, I always know it’s for something better. Sometimes you gotta lose the negativity, the criticism, the jealousy, so you can refocus on yourself and your goals. In the year after I lost two very long friendships, I scored in the 95% percentile on the GRE, found myself in an Ivy League clinical psych program and getting my best grades ever. It wasn’t easy but the universe knew I needed a shakeup to stop getting distracted and focus on all I had going on.
