Deltarune: Fool's Fate Chapter 1 Shopkeep
Okay so this should be the last important character ref for Chapter 1, aka the Attic World. (i need a better name for this Dark World.) After this my plan is to post the minor characters like enemies, NPCs, and Minibosses but once those are out, I'm not sure what to start on next. I have many things I could work on, it's just a matter of choosing. Thus why shortly after posting this, I'll be putting up a poll. Anyways! Onto Jeanie!
Tumblr media
The shopkeep of the first area, aka the Dusty Plains, Jeanie (like the spirit) is a mystic snake who lives alone in her tent and tells the fortunes of whoever enters. If we're to think in terms of mapping parts of the Attic World to Chapter 1 of Deltarune proper, imagine Jeanie as the Seam of the chapter. Some of her dialogue even makes mention to the cat plush, even though the two have never met proper.
Her name is a play on "genie", being said the same, just spelled differently, and tying to her mystic, fortune-teller vibe and occupation. As for inspiration, asides from taking on the appearance of a hooded cobra (a lot of the Attic World has some snake ties because of Broadway), Jeanie is an old fortune telling machine. I'm not sure if she's the full machine, or just a part of it, but that is her Light World counterpart. Her connection to tarot cards is likely due to the machine incorporating them into it's gimmick.
Being the first shopkeep, Jeanie's wares are rather basic. A healing item found a few times prior to meeting her, aka the Fortune Cookie, a stronger healing item in the Stitched Stew, a basic armor in the Crystal Lace, and a weapon for Chicago in the Fortune Cutters. I have descriptions for each of those items incase anyone's interested.
For a better look at her character, here's a quote from her shop dialogue when you ask Jeanie about herself.
"The name is Jeanie, like the spirit. Mystical Serpent of Mystery. This tent is my where I sell mystical charms and read palms, paws, and tails. I've seen quite a lot in my time telling fortunes. The past, the present... Perhaps even the future. Hee hee hee..."
Aside from asking about herself, during their first encounter with Jeanie, the player would be able to ask Jeanie about the Magician, ask for a Card Reading, or ask Jeanie how she was expecting the party based on her shop enter dialogue (depicted in the image above). Some of her dialogue will change later in the chapter, mostly after running into her a second time in the second area (the Feathered Forest) or once encountering Dorothy (the secret boss) both before and after fighting her. Under the cut is a list of what Jeanie has to say in her talk options.
You were expecting us?
"Legends have spread far and wide of Lightners who will come to seal fountains. Three legendary heroes who will save both light and dark from calamity. More recently, there have been tales and rumors among the Upper Choir of three young heroes destined to replace the Blue Knight and dethrone the High Priestess.
Call it premotion, call it fate, if you will... I simply call it inevitable that we would meet."
The Magician?
"Hmm? I'm afraid I do not know of the cat you speak off." She grins "Hee hee hee. Just kidding. You mean Magico, correct? He is quite the trickster, isn't he? I heard he's been trying capture the Lightners who've come to seal the Fountain. All in the name of the High Priestess. He wasn't always under her reign. None of us were. Our land did not have a singular, set ruler until recently. We were ruled by a collective choir. Until one day, a mysterious knight appeared, and appointed the highest Choir member, the Priestess, into power. After which, she appointed Magico the Head Magician and her right hand. It's been quite some time since this land has seen such upset in the Choir. Not since... Well, perhaps it's better you not learn of that just yet."
Card Reading (Beginning of Chapter, before Broadway joins party)
"The Fool, The Magician, and The High Priestess. It seems your journey is just beginning, young heroes. Yet I sense great potiental and power shining within you. Perhaps such potential will aid you in the facing the powers and entities yet unknown. Even still, buying a small protection charm wouldn't hurt."
Reading (Encountering Jeanie outside of her shop in Feathered Forest with Broadway)
"I left my cards back at my tent, but I can still read your fate through the vibrations of your soul. Hmm... Interesting. I sense a lack of control. A slipping of string. Perhaps brought on by someone close to you interfering with your prior norm? ... I suggest you talk things out with them, young hero."
Card Reading (Back tracking after CK and Remie re-join the party again but before the Chapel)
"Three of Cups, Eight of Swords, and Five of Wands. It seems the rest of your party has returned to you. Though you've been apart for a time, it's important to remember the value of working as a team. Especially since a great challenge still awaits you all on the path ahead. The Chapel and Priestess still lie ahead, young heroes. Be weary not to let your own ambition and feelings get in the way of your collective goal."
Card Reading (Back tracking after entering the Choral Chapel)
"The High Priestess, reversed Nine of Swords, and Nine of Wands. It seems the final leg of this journey lays before you, young ones. Soon you shall duel with the Priestess to end her tyrannical reign. Bringing a new light to this land. However such a battle can wait for a little while. Your adventure has been long and tiring, has it not? Why not take a short rest? I can make some tea and read the leaves before you must set off once more."
Odd Doll (After first talking to Dorothy)
"I sense you three have come across a strange presence oddly familiar but which you've never known. A strange prisoner whom speaks in stitched together tongue? ... So I see. Seems the Magician couldn't hide her from all eyes forever. ... I see many paths if you chose to go down this route more, yet oddly enough... The one in which you try and release her holds the most promise. It would not be my personal advice but... The stars have yet to steer me wrong yet. Perhaps dealing with the doll once and for all will yield a brighter future for everyone. ... Perhaps it was wrong to lock her away to begin with. A key? I do not hold it, but I have a sense as to were the Magician hid it. Hidden among the trees, in the thicket of the dark. You'll find the path you seek, if you chose to take the lark. That's all the advice I can give, so I would advise turning to the Magician if you get stuck further. I wish you luck on your journey, young ones, and my the stars guide your path."
"Gate blocking your path? As I said, I can offer no more advise. Perhaps seek the Magician for assistance."
Odd Doll (After opening Dorothy's cell)
"So you say you've opened the door? That explains the wrathful energy I feel far away..." I'm afraid can't see where your future leads from here. Do tell me how this plays out, if you can. Or don't. I merely predict your path, only you can decide it."
About DOROTHY (After defeating Dorothy)
"Judgment, Reversed six of wands, and The Chariot. I may not have known that doll for long, but I knew her cards, her fate, the path the stars laid out for her. Or perhaps the path she forged herself… Once she was nothing more than a blank doll. No face, no name, no path. She was a fool just as you are. Yet one day, she came across a strange someone and it seemed her stars had finally aligned. She had been gifted an identity and purpose from some higher power, she said. To this day, I still don't quite understand what she meant by that. Rambling on about the Truth, or our purpose, of creating our own stars…Yet I didn't NOT understand at the same time… At some point she was let into the Upper Choir, but even they eventually grew annoyed with her ramblings. And so they cast her out. Exiled her back to these dust ridden plains. She grew enraged, filled with an anger and hatred for all that betrayed her. She had to be locked away before she could hurt anyone else. It shames me that I had to be the one to call the guard… Ever since, I've mulled over the cards and stars, seeking answers to what she said. Yet the skies shone dark and the cards even darker. The only thing I've come back with are more questions than when I started. It makes one wonder…How much of the universe and fate can be understood and predicated… And how much can only be navigated by the blind?"
We Won (After defeating Dorothy)
"The six of wands, the Tower, and the Devil. So, it is true? You really defeated her? Then you three truly must be the heroes of legend after all… However be warned, DOROTHY is merely the first step in your fool's journey. There is still a long way to go, and many more obstacles to face. And one day soon… even the most darkest evil of all. Hee hee hee… Well, I can only wish you luck. Perhaps once you reach that point You can come back here and I shall read your scattered destiny once more."

was thinking about like, what to include in say fan poke regions for places and then thought about how
Unova (Pokemon USA/New York) has fucking Egyptian mummies, Ba more or less (one of the aspects of the soul in ancient Egyptian religion), leopards, zebras, monkeys, tapirs/baku, daruma dolls, Nazca lines, Archaeopteryx (a fossil found in Europe), kitsune, chinchillas, knight bug, ninja slug, knight snail, more fucking knights, giant anteater, a Slavic dragon with a german naming scheme, fucking 3 Musketeers hooved critters, fucking djinn, Taoism dragons…
Kalos (Pokemon France) has fucking pandas, ninja frogs, lions (you could argue that the lions fit historically but I'm not that nice), nekomata, frilled lizards, Amargasaurus (found in Argentina), luchador hawk, pumpkins, ice burgs, and Norse mythology legendaries
why are the fucking 3 Musketeers legendaries in pokeAmerican and not pokeFrance?
Alola (pokemon Hawaii) has fucking tigers, toucans, yeti, wolves, red pandas, lemurs, orangutans, mata mata turtles, lion legendary, and koalas
Pokemon Japan (Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh/Hisui) has fucking rattlesnakes, cobras, pangolins, Rafflesia, hula dancer flower, couger/puma that is also a carbuncle (Latin american monster), platypus, ostrich, rhinos, kangaroos, echidna, totem pole bird, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, poncho and sombrero wearing ludicolo, sloths, gorillas, Easter Island heads, Hopkinsville Goblin (a USA alien sighting), Indian mystics, red-bellied piranha, camels, pandas, cactuses, coelacanths, golems, Biblical monster legendaries, penguins, bevers, lions, skunks, hippos, venus flytraps, yeti, mammoths, and djinn
hhhhhhhhhhhhh. Pokemon ecology is extremely fucked up. And also, the president is doing whatever apparently.

The Immortal Iron Fist - issues #8-14 - “The Seven Capital Cities of Heaven” (2006-2007)
The second arc is where everything comes together. Called back to his adopted home of K’un-Lun, Danny soon discovers that there are other mystical cities, each with their own warrior champion. Every 88 years, the champions of each city must compete in a tournament to determine the order in which the cities will appear on earth. Besides the tournament, Danny must also rescue a kidnapped friend, discovers a conspiracy to destroy K’un-Lun, and must learn the secrets of his new abilities and his father’s legacy.
Brubaker, Fraction, and Aja really deliver the goods. In an Enter the Dragon style tournament, the Iron Fist is matched up against the Immortal Weapons of each city: Fat Cobra, The Bride of Nine Spiders, Dog Brother #1, Tiger’s Beautiful Daughter, the mysterious Prince of Orphans, and the new champion, Danny’s nemesis, The Steel Serpent. Taking a cue from kung fu movies, Aja incorporates the names of strikes—with names like Whirlwind of Impending Doom, The Black Milk of Hell, and Jawsnapper in Twilight—into some beautifully wrought fight scenes. Aja’s work here is stunning, with amazing graphic techniques to emphasize the action. However, he is a bit inconsistent, in the sense that throughout the arc he doesn’t always draw the present tense scenes. Towards the end of the arc, Kano ably fills in, though I still don’t know why.
With some help from his friends—Luke Cage, Misty Knight, and Colleen Wing—and the other Immortal Weapons, Danny foments a revolution, takes on Hydra, and learns what it means to be the Iron Fist.
It is an incredible arc, and the run could have ended quite satisfactorily with issue #14. But with his newfound knowledge and enlightenment, there is a bit more for Danny to do.

EDH Deck Tech: Karametra’s Toolbox
[you can see every deck tech here]
Hello & welcome to this weekly deck tech! This week we’re back into EDH with one of my favourite commander: Karametra. One quick thing to note about Karametra, before delving into the deck tech, is that she’s one of the Theros gods, and those cards make amazing commanders since they are really hard to deal with. Unless your opponent has exiling effects, or bounces, they can’t deal with them at all so your commander has good odds of being safe to do whatever you want with them for a while.
Tumblr media
This deck has been one of my recent projects and it feels so natural. I’m probably going to build a physical version in the future because I enjoy it so much; the deck is centered around Karametra’s ability to really get a lot of lands on the battlefield, as well as a wide array of utility creatures to fill your deck with value. Plus, at around 100-150$ it’s fairly cheap to build, especially since the version I’d recommend plays 36 basic lands because you fetch lands A LOT with her ability. In any case, lets get right into the heart of the deck.
Landfall
Tumblr media
One of the first things that come to mind with Karametra’s ability is the landfall mechanic, something happens when a land comes into play. I don’t recommend building the whole deck around this mechanic, but I do recommend getting the solid cards of that strategy, like Courser of Kruphix, Lotus Cobra, Tireless Tracker, Emeria Angel, Rampaging Baloths, Avenger of Zendikar & Zendikar’s Roil. Those cards OOZE with value and will help you set up a very nice board presence. You will get a lot of landfall triggers trust me.
Pure Value
Tumblr media
These are the other big cards you want to play, just straight up value on a stick. The deck wants to play creature after creature, and you want all of them to be solid to threaten your opponent as best as you can. Cards like Thragtusk, Voice of Resurgence, Kitchen Finks, Knight of the Reliquary, Loxodon Smiter, Obstinate Baloth, Vizier of the Menagerie, Wilt-Leaf Liege, Multani Yavimaya’s Avatar & Primeval Bounty (which is all sorts of good in this deck!). Basically some cheap but efficient creatures, as well as solid fatties.
Making Big Plays
Tumblr media
Lets keep the train going for your endgame plan, so far you’ve been getting value out of landfall triggers and been casting big fat value creatures, but what if you want more? Well to really end a game I’d recommend ways to really use all that mana you’ve accumulated with cards like Genesis Wave & Genesis Hydra; those 2 cards are INSANE in the deck and will let you solidify your board position and often just win you the game on the spot. If you want, you can also play some green tutor spells to make the deck more constant, but I’m not a huge fan of tutors in commander...
Go Off I Guess
Tumblr media
This card needs its own category; Cloudstone Curio is BUSTED in this deck, and I really mean it. Being able to bounce your own creatures each time you cast another one is insane since you get to trigger all your stuff over & over & over again. If you want to play an Amulet of Vigor so that your lands from Karametra come into play untapped, you can basically play your entire deck on turn 5 or 6, which I feel is a bit unfair...

We’ve been over the big plays, now lets talk answers, because every deck needs some. Instead of playing a bunch of instants for removal, I’d recommend focusing on creatures, besides the obvious Path to Exile & Swords to Plowshare that I feel every white deck should play. You should run cards like Knight of Autumn, , Qasali Pridemage, Scavenging Ooze, Reclamation Sage, Acidic Slime, Terastodon & Woodfall Primus. Just some solid creatures that add some answers/utility to your deck.
Card Draw
Tumblr media
It’s no secret that white & green are bad at card draw, so you need to use all of their best resources to not fall behind; there are some great ones that fit perfectly in the deck like Soul of the Harvest, Elvish Visionary, Wall of Blossoms, Wall of Omens, Beast Whisperer, Primordial Sage, Harmonize, Shamanic Revelations, Rishkar’s Expertise & Lifecrafter’s Bestiary. Draw those cards and keep your hand always full of value!
Recursion
Tumblr media
I always recommend running some recursion spells in green decks, and there are some decent creature-based ones. Stuff like Renegade Rallier, Eternal Witness & Greenwarden of Murasa really help the deck with some resilience to removal, or just re-using some good cards.
Bounce Bounce Bounce
Tumblr media
You might have noticed, pretty much all of the creatures have enter the battlefield effects, so you might as well use that to your advantage. I really love the synergy of bounce effects in this deck, whether is be by blinking or just regular bouncing; I’d recommend playing cards like Restoration Angel (which is insane with Thragtusk, you know that already if you were around during Innistrad standard), Jeskai Barricade, Whitemane Lion, Fleefoot Panther & Stonecloaker. It’s ot a lot but it really helps the deck get to its full potential.
More Ramp
Tumblr media
I know the deck already ramps A LOT but you want to ramp even before your commander comes down. With a decent hand you should be casting your commander on turn 3 or 4 and then try to get crazy amounts on value on turn 5 or so. Early/cheap ramp spells are really good, with cards like Avacyn’s Pilgrim, Arbor Elf, Birds of Paradise, Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Sylvan Caryathid, Utopia Tree, Nissa Vastwood Seer, Farseek, Rampant Growth, Cultivate, Kodama’s Reach, as well as late game mana growth like Mirari’s Wake & Zendikar Resurgent to really go off by casting a crazy amount of creatures.
Wrap-Up
That’s it for the deck! I hope you enjoyed this deck tech as much as I did! The deck is SUPER fun to play in my opinion, I might build a copy for myself because I had a BLAST playtesting it! It’s very constant, it’s pretty snow-bally, and is quite interactive for this kind of deck. If I missed anything please let me know. I’ll see you all next week for a standard deck tech.

HBO Max New Releases: November 2020
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
There are only two months left to go in this truly hellish year and relatively new streaming service HBO Max is trying to make the best of them. While most other streamers recover from Halloween and get prepared for Christmas, HBO Max is using November 2020 to fill out its servers.
Things are pretty light not the new original series front this month with only Industry (Nov. 9) and His Dark Materials season 2 (Nov. 16) making a splash. But the streamer has a couple of notable original films to complement them. Between the World and Me, based on the book by Ta-Nehisi Coates, arrives on Nov. 21 and Melissa McCarthy comedy Superintelligence arrives on Nov. 26. That’s not even to mention two intriguing projects that don’t have dates yet: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion Special and The Mystery of DB Cooper.
Thankfully, the real appeal in November 2020 is all the fresh library content making its way to HBO Max. Nov. 1 sees the arrival of The Dark Knight, The Hobbit Trilogy, all the Lego Movies, and even the first episode of Rick and Morty season 4 (with more presumably to follow). Those offerings will be augmented later on by the always-entertaining Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Nov. 7.
Here is everything else coming to HBO Max in November 2020.

For the week of 5 February 2018
Quick Bits:
Armstrong & The Vault of Spirits is a fun one-shot that uses Aram’s collection of wine to weave together the “true story” of Noah, the emergence of a previously unknown arch-nemesis, the secrets societies that continue to plague Archer & Armstrong, and the often hidden emotional connection that Armstrong has with his family. It’s really nice to see Fred Van Lente back chronicling these characters, even if just for one special right now.

Avengers #679 tags in Kim Jacinto for art duties, appearing to be up to the challenge laid out by Pepe Larraz in quality of work on this book. We get the stakes of the match here between the Grandmaster and the Challenger, of whom we also get a history, and it manages to make all of the destruction and battles seem like mere whims of these members of the Elders of the universe. I suspect when discovered, this isn’t going to sit well with the Avengers. As only part five, this also makes me wonder what else Mark Waid, Al Ewing, and Jim Zub have up their sleeves.

Black Bolt #10 has a brief crossover segment with Inhumans: Judgment Day, illustrated by guest-artist Stephanie Hans. It’s beautiful, and an interesting way to work in the events of the broader Inhumans saga into the current arc in this series. I like how Saladin Ahmed handles Lash’s plan to advance all of the interwoven spinning plates.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coyotes #4 closes out the first arc along the theme of upheaval. There are some interesting parallels put forward in the Duchess and Red’s situations, as well as the comeuppance against the coyotes who have been hunting women. As usual, Caitlin Yarsky’s art elevates everything. I highly recommend picking up these issues or pre-ordering the collection for April; Sean Lewis and Yarsky did something great here.

Extremity #11 is the penultimate issue of the series as the final battle is enjoined. Daniel Warren Johnson mainly focuses here on the action and as usual the artwork is gorgeous. I’m going to really miss this series when it’s done.

Giant Days #35 somewhat skirts the issue of the fallout of Ed’s admission of love to Esther last issue for now, instead following on a visiting Sarah and Lottie Grote. It’s funny seeing Daisy and Susan trying to look after a kid, plus the interesting development that Daisy may finally be cluing in that Ingrid is absolutely horrible.

Incognegro: Renaissance #1 kicks off a new mystery with the death of a black author at a literary shindig, with the police appearing completely disinterested in the case completely. Mat Johnson and Warren Pleece deliver an interesting start.

Infinity Countdown: Adam Warlock #1 acts as a bridge between Guardians of the Galaxy #150 and, as well as a primer for, Infinity Countdown: Prime. Adam Warlock has been reborn and this issue gives us a summary of Warlock’s history and teases what’s to come at the end of time, as he enters into an uneasy alliance with Kang the Conqueror. A lot of this issue has Gerry Duggan recapping events and foreshadowing what’s to come, but it is highly elevated by the art of Mike and Laura Allred.

Koshchei the Deathless #2 continues to be a fun and exciting fable of Koshchei telling Hellboy his story. Mike Mignola does a great job of including some subtle humour into the telling, along with the absurdity of some of the Russian folktales (or the like), and Ben Stenbeck (with Dave Stewart’s colours) is again phenomenal.

Mech Cadet Yu #6 has the kids face off against baby Sharg and it’s all kinds of awesome.

No. 1 With a Bullet #4 finds new and inventive ways to ruin Nash’s life further, with weirdness continuing and lies emerging to cast her as a willing participant in her sex tape.

Noble #9 is a kind of coda to the first two arcs, allowing David and Astrid a bit of quiet time and reflection before tackling the next stage in their lives. It’s interesting in their dealings with Foresight and Lorena Payan here that even when they manage to get somewhat free, Payan has to remind them that even their personal lives are still under observation.

Rasputin: The Voice of the Dragon #4 amps up the action in this penultimate issue of the series. Christopher Mitten (with colours by Dave Stewart) is on fire this issue.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rogue & Gambit #2 reminds me again that I don’t like Rogue and Gambit as a couple, something about them together just seems like nails on a chalkboard at this point, but I do like Kelly Thompson writing about them. There’s a nice mix of humour, action, and history that keeps this flowing nicely. It also helps that the art from Pere Pérez with colours by Frank D’Armata is amazing.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rose #8 gives a bit of history on Drucilla, with Felix giving excuses for why she’s grown into a selfish, evil monstrosity. It’s interesting to see the lengths we’ll go to in order to explain away bad behaviour of family members. Ig Guara, with colours by Triona Farrell, also deserves more attention.  Their art on this series since day one has been impeccable.

Scarlett’s Strike Force #2 advances many of the story threads in an interesting fashion, particularly Skywarp’s disillusionment with the Joe’s in fixing his teleportation and the burgeoning mystical aspect to Cobra. There’s also a humorous exchange between Raptor and Croc Master.

Spirits of Vengeance #5 concludes what was an unexpected, but excellent, mini-series from Victor Gischler, David Baldeón, and Andres Mossa. It was a nice mix of humour, action, and gorgeous art playing with some of Marvel’s lately underutilized supernatural characters. I know that they’ll likely reappear during the upcoming Damnation event, but I’d definitely like to see more from this creative team.

Star Wars #43 brings the “Ashes of Jedha” arc to a close with a surprising twist. Also, some great art again by Salvador Larroca and Guru-eFX.

TMNT Universe #19 begins a new arc “Service Animals” by Ian Flynn, Dave Wachter, and Ronda Pattison, as a well as a prelude for the upcoming Kingdom of Rats storyline in the main book, by Bobby Curnow and Pablo Tunica. It’s always great to see Wachter’s art, especially with how expressive his turns at Alopex are here.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transformers: Lost Light #14 is mostly a Scavengers story, but unlike most of them, this one is no light-hearted romp. Like the recent Getaway arc, this gets pretty serious and pretty dark.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transformers vs. Visionaries #2 gets into more of the internecine warfare and skirmishes between the factions of the Visionaries themselves as the Darkling Lords and the Spectral Knights battle for the soul and honour of their people. I like what Magdalene Visaggio is setting up here and Fico Ossio’s artwork, with colours by David Garcia Cruz, is beautiful.

Twisted Romance #1 is off to a good start. This issue has a trio of tales that largely mix horror/supernatural with love/sex/romance. The highlight for me is Sarah Horrocks’ piece that reminds me of the existential eroticism of Clive Barker’s work, but all three are worth the price of admission. Alex de Campi and Katie Skelly’s story is a bit of revenge on a cheating partner’s lover with a confrontation between an incubus and a succubus, while Magen Cubed delivers a sweet prose story of a monster hunter and the vampire who loves him.

Venom #161 has some truly excellent artwork from Javier Garrón (with colours by Dono Sánchez-Almara and Erick Arciniega) as Mike Costa pens a done-in-one story advancing some of the series’ sub-plots while giving a fitting confrontation between Venom and Spider-Woman. With this issue sandwiched between two crossovers (the just finished Venom Inc. on one side and Poison-X on the other) it’s nice to see how the team make this wholly satisfying on its own.

Vs. #1 debuts with gorgeous artwork by Esad Ribić and Nic Klein, perfectly capturing turning war into a commercialized sport. Along with the lettering from Aditya Bidikar and graphics by Tom Muller, it manages to have a nice European, particularly Humanoids, feel to it, despite not being particularly over the top.

The Wicked + The Divine 1923 is quite possibly the greatest issue of this already magnificent series, and a must buy for the people who may have otherwise been missing out on the tangential one-shots. This one is meaty with story and purpose as Kieron Gillen and Aud Koch blend prose and comics, along with conventions of pulp mysteries, silent film, and more to create a ritual that helped shape the rest of the 20th century as a kind of prelude to the main WicDiv series. This is a thing of beauty.

Witchblade #3 goes deeper on both Alex’s history and the mystery of the supernatural stuff going on around her. I may sound like a broken record, but again I have to commend Caitlin Kittredge, Roberta Ingranata, and Bryan Valenza for this series, because it’s got a great story and beautiful artwork.

X-Men Red #1 is off to a pretty good start. The artwork from Mahmud Asrar with colours by Ive Svorcina are a real draw, as is the return of Jean Grey to the X-Men, but the breakout star is still Tom Taylor’s characterizations. Particularly of Honey Badger.
