This Ramadan has been very exceptional for many reasons, one being that the Mosques are shut during a time when mosque are full even at Fajr! It has also been exceptional in that all around the world children and parents are building there own mosque in the home, its sparked an amazing bundle of creativity. Today I thought I’d share another thoughtful piece by @halalparenting It focusses on curbing negative thoughts during Ramadan such as anxiety or jealously . “One of the many blessings of Islam is that we are taught that we have the power to redirect our thoughts towards Allah swt - to His blessings surrounding us, to His names and attributes, and to our gratitude for all we have by His grace. When we do that - when we make a sincere effort to turn our thoughts towards positivity, we inevitably increase the quality and effectiveness of our prayers and worship while relieving ourselves from anger, depression and other worldly thoughts. . Ibn al Qayyim said:. . “You should repulse a thought. If you do not do so, it will develop into a desire. You should, therefore, wage war against it. If you do not do so, it will become a resolution and firm intention. If you do not repulse this, it will develop into a deed. If you do not make up for it by doing the opposite thereof [the opposite of that evil deed], it will become a habit. It will then be very difficult for you to give it up.”. . In other words, watch your thoughts for they become words, which become actions, then habits and character. To dispell bad thoughts and interference from Shaytan, make plentiful dua’ to Allah swt such as:. . “My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.” [Qur’an Al Mu’minun 23:97-98]. . Striving in this difficult task has many rewards, one of which is that during the blessed month of Ramadan when the Shayateen are locked away, you are more likely to have even more positive thoughts, making your ibaadah fruitful insh’Allah. As Muslims, we are responsible and answerable for our own acts of worship, but we are encouraged to do many things together to promote the concept of community and to earn more reward from Allah swt. Eating together brings many blessings for Muslims, and is encouraged in the Sunnah.

Wahshi bin Harb (RA) reported: Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “We eat but are not satisfied.” He (SAW) said, “Perhaps you eat separately.” The Companions replied in the affirmative. He then said: “Eat together and mention the Name of Allah over your food. It will be blessed for you.”

Gathering with our family members and reciting ‘Bismillah’ before eating can increase the barakah of our food. Such a simple habit can bring great blessings every day into our homes, Subhan’Allah.

In Ramadan, Allah swt multiplies our rewards for every single act of worship.

Make an effort then, to eat Suhoor together each day. Among its many blessings is that it gives us the strength to fast and worship throughout the day, it wards off negative attitudes, and makes it easier to pray Tahajjud and make dhikr in the last part of the night - all admirable acts of ibaadah.

Adjust your schedules so you can eat Iftar together as much as possible, and invite friends and family to join in and share in the blessings.

While you may not be able to do everything you’d like during this sacred month, take comfort in knowing that this small adjustment to eat together is worship too.

🌟Salaam Everyone! Ramadan Kareem. 🌟. . I hope you’re all having a great day. We have a unique upload today. We wanted to share this really inspiring story on Sultan bin Salman’s journey to space during Ramadan. This is a great story to tell the young ones. Insha’Allah we will have many more unique uploads during Ramadan. . You can read his story on the upload or please see below. . In 1985, Prince Sultan bin Salaman, the 28-year-old son of the governor of Riyadh [Saudi Arabia], was selected by NASA to serve as payload engineer on of its discovery space shuttle flights. He would be both the first Muslim and Arab to go into space. . To take part in this monumental mission the prince Sultan had to undergo intensive training, both physically and mentally. Normally the whole process would be conducted over the course of 6 to 18 months but due to the mission being moved up they only had 10 weeks to complete training. However, much of the rigorous training and the first few days of the flight would be during Ramadan. During the 10 weeks of training all trainees were expecting to do between 12 hours to 16 hours a day. For Prince Sultan bin Salaman this intensive training would happen during his fast. . After the training had ended and the sights were set to go into space, the Prince went to the Scholar Bin Baz for advice he asked -. . “what should I do about fasting?”. . “You can apply the Prophet’s rules about travelling” Bin Baz replied without hesitation. These rules made clear that the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) permitted the traveller, if he wished, to postpone his fast until his journeys end. . “I shall never forget it” says Prince Sultan today. “the sight of the earth, so small and round and bright in the blackness. Everything was very clear and sharp. We have a saying in the Quran, ‘verily in the heaven we have set mansions of the stars’ that summed it up for me”. . Alhamdullilah✨✨

Below you will see Maryam talking about the importance of Salah. . “As we all know, in the 5 Pillars of Islam, prayer comes right after Shahadah. This means right after Tawheed, which is believing in One God, Allah (SWT), the most essential part of Islam is Salah.  The word Salah is used around 700 times in the Quran, and this shows us the emphasis of prayer in Islam. . In Surah Al-Muddathir, Allah (SWT) says: What has brought you to this burning? (42) They will answer: We were not of those who prayed (43). . Also In Surat Al- Muminoon, there is a verse that talks about salah. Basically if you look at the first few verses of this beautiful Surah, you will understand the qualities of a believer. And among the qualities, in verse 2, “Those who humble themselves in their prayers.” and again in verse 9, “And who strictly guard their prayers.”. . In a beautiful Hadith, it is reported from Jabir Ibn Abdullah (r.a): The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Between faith and unbelief is abandoning the prayer.” (Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi). And we can expand on the meaning of this hadith, in between being a muslim, or having faith, and not being a muslim with no faith, is abandoning salah, or not praying. This is how importance the Prayer is. . I actually started praying from very early, there is a video of me praying when i was only 3 years old, and we are also trying to get Fatima to pray from her early age as well. Recently, my parents took an Al-Maghrib class, where they learned the perfect way to pray. It was an amazing class, and they taught me everything they learned, which further helped me improve my prayer.” Thank you Maryam for sharing those inspirational words!.
