that 3 years was definitely worth the wait. it's really been a long while since i found a show that's worth being passionate about and write a little reaction post/review. I love Domundi, the actors and every show they have put out so far. But I found my ult of ults in the BL fandom. NetJames is definitely my ult bl ship, while the rest of the dmd boys are close runner ups because all of them are well-paired with skyrocketing chemistry.

What I thought Bed Friend was going to be: high heat series about a cold young man and a player who had to prove himself trustworthy of more than a casual lay

What Bed Friend actually is about: a seriously abused and traumatized young man attempts to embrace his slut era by entering into a monogamous friends with benefits relationship with the local office player who's been in love with him forever and learns how to be loved and embrace his own sexuality, passion, fears and hope after being cheated on by a scumbag.

I love this show.

DAY 7: CHARACTER YOU RELATE TO THE MOST/FAVOURITE CHARACTER EVER

🎭 NURUDE SASARA

There's two clauses to this day and Sasara kind of fits both, but mostly he goes here because he's my absolute favourite character in HypMic alongside Ramuda. But I do relate to this bad boi a bit, because if you couldn't tell, clowns who clown together stick together. :)

It took me forever to actually pick a favourite character in HypMic, because there's so many, and because I'm just kind of like that. Takes me a while to commit. :kekw:

And even when I did pick, I couldn't fully settle on one, because as I said, Sasara does share the spot with Ramuda. But I guess they're my favourites for some of the same reasons, but some different ones.

I remember liking Sasara as soon as I met him while listening to the drama tracks. I knew all of the characters already, but when I got to the DotsuHon track, I had never seen Sasara in action yet, I'd just read something off of the wiki and seen pictures of him. I had no strong opinions.

But oh boy was I about to have them.

I just loved him. I didn't expect him to be so smart and clever right off the bat. I was absolutely not expecting to perceive his depth so quickly, even through his usual funny and lighthearted persona. He immediately spoke to me, and I knew I was dealing with one that was going to become one of my favourite characters ever, not just in HypMic. My ult bias, if you will. *wink* (Sasara sits at the same table as Han Jisung in my brain. They should both feel honoured.)

Not to mention that he's, just, hot. Like, LOOK AT THE MAN. I know the orange matched with the green hair is a bit controversial but STILL the idea of a very polished looking outfit but in funky colours and with a silly pattern just feels perfectly in tune with his personality. It fits him! And that also means I get to salivate over him when they choose to remove his jacket in ARB cards. (Looking at you latest event - I was a mess for days.)

Obviously, knowing me, number 1 gay person and BL fan, my favourite character couldn't not be a gay little shit as well. That is something we have in common a stupid amount: both Sasara and I are gay disasters. We would have so much fun simping over men together while drinking tea. Also it is so hilarious that Sasara has such a fixed type in men I swear to god, the Rosho/MCD Samatoki parallels have me cackling every time. This man really replaced his ex he couldn't get over with basically the same guy but in white cum patate. Iconic move. For the history books.

Also, is anyone surprised that my favourite character is once again an ENTP fuckboy? No, I know. No one is. But birds of a feather come together, I guess, because I also am an ENTP fuckboy. :) I wasn't always - I guess this little bastard influenced me, together with some other assholes like Vanitas or Dazai or who knows who else. There's always one.

I love power dynamics in ships, and people who absolutely should not be together. I love people who could destroy one another if they chose to. Whose family or society would be horrified they are together. Bonus points if they are definitely fucking each other up, but continue anyway.

Dongfang Qingcang/Shangque - Love between fairy and devil Ghostship

I love the idea that Shangque is this ancient, powerful dragon but is utterly devoted to Qingcang, knows all his habits, looks after his little mood swings, let's him feel like he's in control even though he probably knows rightly how to manipulate him if he wanted to. Qingcang is the definition of cringefail edgy villain who tries not to show that he's squishy in the middle but only for the right people.

VegasKim - Kinnporsche Ghostship

I really don't care at all about the cousins angle here. When you take a step back and think, our weirdness about that is rooted in concerns around genetic risks and that's uh, not really an issue with same-sex stuff, y'know? Anyway, no, the bit that does it for me is that both families would be outraged, and that they are both utterly tough and unhinged about the family business and absolutely could destroy one another. And they are definitely fucking up each other's lives, ambitions, and self-identity.

Gahan - The Devil Judge main co-stars

Kim Gaon and Kang Yohan are so clearly into each other. So much fascination with each other, how the others operates, what motivates them, the grudging respect. But also just really hot for it. The roaming eyes on both sides when shirts are off. The moments of softness Yohan allows to slip out, the moments of brokenness and anger that Gaon suffers Yohan to witness, how they betray each other but are inexorably drawn together again anyway. I love the moment Yohan risks discovery to save Gaon. I love the moment Gaon risks his life to go down with Yohan. I love both gradually realising the other will come to rescue them, no matter what the risk. I love the age gap. I love how different they are, and how they are two broken pieces which fit together perfectly nonetheless. It's messy and beautiful.

Honorable mentions: WangXian ults, obvs. But I can't put them in every single one of these so I'm trying to branch out.

First ever ship - BtVS: Sprusilla

The second I laid eyes on Drusilla and her graceful, syrupy brand of crazy I was in love, and Spike is such a cringefail dark little villain I was always going to fall for him. They are perfect together. I wish they'd had a spin off series Bonnie&Clyde-ing all over Europe.

i also stan dream smp, i mostly watch Dream, George, Sapnap, Quackity and Karl, but also i really love all of the dream smp team. and.. i ship Dream with George, Karl with Sapnap and Quackity with Karl.

What is your favourite show of this year and favourite characters/ships from it? Asking for a friend.

Hi, anon I haven't been able to answer this question because there have been so many great shows that have stolen my heart. I will say that my favourite shows of the year in terms of BL have to be TharnType season 2? For Korean Dramas it's Start-up.  

BL Dramas

I know it's shocking that I choose TharnType above everything even ITSAY even Gaya Sa Pelikula or shows like Cherry Magic. But if I followed authenticity and actually focused intensely on the show that has made me so happy, and grateful and also have withdrawal symptoms each time the show ends, it's Tharn Type season 2. You can see it from this blog; nothing comes more comfortable than this show to write for. Nothing touches my heart more; nothing makes me smile or cry as much as this show.

I was late on the bandwagon with season 1, I almost stopped watching it, and I watched it only on the surface at first, but it is incredible. I was hoping season 2 would keep on being that way, there are some parts where it isn't the most perfect of shows, but there are moments where I realise shows like TT are what I want to keep seeing with BL ( no I don't want tropes like assa*ult, or other things associated with Season 1,). Still, I want stories that are not afraid of risks and have great actors that aren't stiff when they are together a show that is focused on the premise of love and a show that is truly structured properly, with a great plot and a storyline that reflects the reality of relationships.

It means so much knowing that a show like TharnType one where the characters are incredibly three dimensional, profound and just written so greatly, the villains make you think and question your moral stance, they are exceptionally written to reflect, mirror and shadow other characters, the show has its own version of meta, and depth, and it's easy to analyse especially when it brings up Psychological themes, and trauma and nature vs nurture debates. It's just so great. There are so many things to say about this show honestly.

As for ships for this show, TharnType, what more can I say? They're everything, so real, so great, so precious and so flawed but that's what makes you connect to them, to their love story, to their passion for each other. They're enviable, they're intense, but they're also cute and soft at different moments. Nothing can be said more about how great the actors behind them are. MewGulf is just outstanding and remarkable. They are one of the best in the Thai Bl industry; they really are, there's nothing else to say apart from that they're just incredibly impressive.

But also with this show, the other side couples are good, Leo and Fiat may be annoying and frustrating but analysing them has been a joy, and also the chemistry and acting are also on par, as idiotic as they are they radiate love too, just immature, stupid and childish to be healthy as of this moment. But they remind me so much of old TT in season, so many moments when I wanted to hurt Type for his idiocy or many moments when I felt uncomfortable with Tharn as well. Still, at the same time as with them, I wanted to protect both and cry for them and make sure they're together. That's what this writer does with her couples. That's how I feel about LeoFiat. You can tell I love them. I write about them every single episode, every single moment, it's a bit ridiculous if you tell me. But hey I'm obsessed.

Korean Dramas

As for Startup, I've written a long review about why I love this show. It means everything to me, and I can't believe my heart was stolen by Nam Do San till this day, the writing of this show kidnapped my heart. I still haven't gotten it back, I miss it so much, every day, I want to write more, but once I end a show I must move on to the next otherwise I'd stay stuck and spiral into withdrawal symptoms, never giving other shows a chance, it happened with Goblin and me haha. So I need to move on from Start-Up, but my favourite ship is and will always be Nam Do San and Seo Dal Mi, and it hasn't changed. There's more to why I like this show you can find it here—still the best Kdrama for me apart from Itaewon Class in terms of plot and acting.

17. why did you choose your url: my username of everything used to be WhimsicalSerendipity because they are my favourite two words but when I got into BTS my first bias was Jungkook. I think it sounds pretty cute so I’ve just stuck with it 😛😊

23. instruments: i did this thing in Year 7 called instrumental music where I did violin for a year but i never actually picked it up. My sister is the musical one, she plays ukelele, piano and guitar 😚☺️

24. what am i wearing: I’m in YEAR 12 in Sixth Form in the UK (16/17 years old) so we have a dress code for a uniform of business wear in only black white and grey. I’m wearing black pants, black boots, a white blouse, grey jumper, black blazer (we have to) and gold jewellery :)

25. how many blankets i sleep with: 1 it’s pretty cold at the moment so I normally have my duvet and then a blanket if it’s extra cold

26. dream job: working at Disneyland, being a project manager for games development or working with early years children (2-5) so like a nursery/crèche teacher
