if Peter and Matt end up together in your fic, why did you decide to include MJ? What purpose is there to bring in the Black canon love interest just to prove that the non canon white guy is the fated and best choice? It would be bad enough to use any MJ but using the MJ from the MCU as a plot point for the two white guys to get together isn’t just misogyny but misogynoir. Please remove the spideychelle tag from your fic. Some of us don’t want to see a Black woman pushed aside for a white guy.

I'm assuming that you've read or at least seen chewing coffee based on the fact that that was the only fic i tagged their relationship in, and i'm gonna try to answer this in the best faith I can. If you haven't read chewing coffee, I'd recommend you'd read it if you're interested in continuing with this universe, and it will clear up a lot of misconceptions.

That being said, I find your comment interesting because I've spent over 400 pages in chewing coffee laboriously trying to dismantle the exact tropes and tendencies you're referencing. once you include hand-spun silk, where i started addressing this exact phenomenon in, that number hits around 600 pages. I'm not exaggerating. The document is so big now that it crashes my computer, and a huge amount of it has been devoted towards making sure exactly what you're referencing never happens in my fic.

To be clear, what you're talking about--it happens. A lot. And it's shitty. People are right to be upset about it happening. You are right to be upset about this happening. But i was extremely conscious about it when I wrote this fic and worked hard to never so much as imply the same was happening here, because it is wrong and it should not happen.

If you haven't read it and are just reacting to the tagging on the fic--I fully get it. This sort of thing happens a lot, and people are right to be wary. I've included an explanation of exactly how MJ and Peter's relationship was calculated and executed, and if you want to read the fic for yourself first and cast your own judgments, feel free. But I will not be removing the tag, because I did not do what you're accusing me of, and I am incredibly proud of the relationship between Peter and MJ in this fic.

I'm actually more proud of Peter and MJ's relationship in jumble sale chic than anything I have ever written. Like, period. And I'm really fucking proud of a lot of the other things i've written. their relationship is complex, nuanced, and tells the story of two incredibly messy and traumatized people working hard every single day to be a better person for each other. they are enormously in love and will be until the day they die. their relationship is the central one in this fic, and it is made clear from beginning until end that anything peter has with matt does not diminish that fact. MJ is legit my favorite character in this fic, becuase she's such an amazing, messy, complex, lovable character, and i worked hard to treat her with respect.

Below the line, I'm going to spell out the steps i took to make certain that MJ and Peter's love would never be shelved in favor of Peter 's and Matt's, but I want to be clear, it's not a defense. I don't think I need one. I put a lot of intent into what I did and I think the work speaks for itself.

For anyone not caught up, spoilers below the line.

First off, MJ is not and never will be pushed aside for Matt. As of chewing coffee, Peter and MJ are experimenting with extremely committed consensual polyamory. Like, they get back together chapter one, chapter two they establish that they want to try out being open. I spent multiple chapters discussing why they decided to be open, why they thought it was the best choice for them, and how it does not lessen the love they feel for each other. Being open was MJ's request, to make her feel more comfortable, and it was made through explicit discussion and multiple scenes where they set boundaries and negotiated what they were comfortable with, all of which can be revisited at any time if either of them decide that their current system is not working. I wanted their relationship to be as healthy and considerate of each other as possible, because I truly believe that they have the kind of love that lasts forever.

It's also made clear in an enormous number of scenes that MJ is the love of Peter's life, and that is never changing. any love interest she is pitted against will lose. He says that he loves her more than anything to her face. He can't have an internal monologue without talking about how much he loves her. Incidentally, he says it to the face of Matt, the other love interest in this fic. They're talking about marriage, and how Peter and MJ will probably never try for it. It is explicitly stated to be because neither of them really believe in marriage, and they don't need an institution to confirm what they have. peter explicitly says during this "we'll be together until the end of the fucking word."

And I made it clear that Matt knew that and respected it. I went to lengths to never have matt and MJ at odds. the second Matt finds out that Peter got back with MJ, when the rut is literal days in the rearview and matt is viscerally in love with peter? he says it's good. he says how great MJ and Peter are together. There is never a single second where he thinks he'd win in a bullshit fight against MJ for peter's affections.

MJ, for her part, is the number one person trying to get Matt and Peter together. at no point is she uncomfortable with them being a thing. She has no interest in being a part of their thing, because matt is a mess and she has standards, except for, you know, that one time she asked to watch if they ever decided to have a fully consensual and non-heat or rut related encore of adult fun. but she's comfortable with them being more than friends. She's comfortable with them having sex, being in love, and having their own independent relationship. She knows how much they mean to each other, and she has never once thought it lessened what she meant to peter. She's entirely secure in what she has with peter.

There is legitimately one time that Matt and MJ could even somewhat be considered at odds in this fic. MJ gets with an ex, because they're open and that's completely okay, immediately tells peter that she got with her ex as per their arrangement, which is a stipulation she requested, which is immediately followed with a scene establishing how much they love each other and how devoted they are towards each other. Matt, meanwhile, did not know they were open at that point, and he finds out on account of super senses that MJ had sex with Kate Bishop, her ex, when she just got back with peter. and what does the "rival" love interest do when he has 100% certainty in the fact that the person dating the man he's half in love with had sex with someone else?

he decides that he needs to get her side of the story, because he doesn't want to jump to conclusions or think the worst of her. less than 24 hours later, at legitmately the first opportunity he has, he's trying to track her down to talk to her about it. He explicitly states that he never wanted to think the worst of her, he just had the information he had and knew he needed to do something. And he further states that if she had cheated, he just wanted to make sure that she came clean and started fixing it, because he's a giant fuck up with relationships and he knows that the best thing you can do in a fuck up is come clean and try to fix things. he could never stay silent, peter's one of his best friends, but he also could never try to sabotage MJ. He knew what they meant to each other, and he wanted to help limit the damage as much as he could.

So when he knew that there was a chance that MJ was cheating on the guy that he was in the middle of being heartbroken over, he never once tried to use it to leverage her out of the way and him into a relationship with peter. because every single person that Peter and MJ know, know that their love is everything to them.

I also just devoted a lot of work into making MJ her own independent, well-rounded character, and to making sure her relationship with peter is never taken for granted or shelved.

I worked hard to give her her own core, distinct character traits and voice. I tied them into her life experiences. I crafted her motivations and decisions directly in line with who she is as a person, and she has her own agency that directly shapes the plot. I hate it when the love interest's entire presence is only to be a love interest to the protagonist. She's funny, and messy, and dynamic, and she's such a fun and cool person in this fic. I legitimately love her more than any other character. she's hilarious and ridiculous and so fucking smart and competent.

Her and Peter's relationship is depicted in almost every chapter and I tried to make it entirely distinct and nuanced from his relationship with matt. They've been in love for almost ten years. That's a long time to learn each other. There's a lot of small, little mannerisms I sprinkled in throughout that tried to show how long they've been fighting for and negotiating this relationship. there's a scene where Peter and MJ are arguing about her doing something that he thinks is dangerous. While they're arguing, he is tying her shoes for her to leave to do the exact thing he doesn't want her to do. and i did that to show that they've worked hard on their relationship. They respect each other as intelligent, independent people who can make their own decisions. they know that the other will always have a voice in the decisions that they make, but they also know that neither of them will ever steamroll the other.

They have so many cute moments where they do acts of love for each other. They love so much about each other--all of their silly, messy bits. They have breakfast together. they tease each other. they indulge each other for each other's Nonsense. they have an encyclopedic knowledge of each other's quirks. they cannot go a chapter without someone announcing how in love they are with the other. it has been over four hundred pages of them being in forever love.

I had explicit meta discussions of the exact phenomenon you're describing? In chapter 5 of hand-spun silk, there is a multi-paragraph discussion about how female, biracial romantic partners are pushed aside in favor of white counterparts. and it's discussed in terms of how unjust it is, and how MJ is the person he'll be in love with forever. i am never going to pretend that what you're saying does not happen, because it happens to an extreme degree. you are 100% right to be upset about it. but this entire fic has been an meticulous dismantling of it, so I'm not exactly sure why you're here right now.

It's especially interesting in light of the fact that MJ is the dominate love interest in this fic. Like--yes, 100%, peter and matt are getting together in this fic, i feel like that was fairly explicit. surprise, it's happening people, the fic where I tagged them as getting together is about them getting together.

he has barely been there.

now, to be clear, that's not in answer to this phenomenon. I am grinding many axes with this fic. As I feel everyone knows already, this is an ABO fic. Peter is, effectively, the "female" counterpart in the relationship as the omega. i hate it when female stories only circle around the love interest. Peter has around four different plots going on that do not involve matt, because he has a life apart from matt and he can handle his own shit, so like. it felt forced to include matt in every scene, he really didn't need to be there. In contrast, MJ has had a big role in pretty much every single arc of this fic. because she's a foundational part of peter's life. They've been in love for 10 goddamn years. they live together. they are in an active, open, romantic and sexual relationship with each other, and a three-way QPR relationship with Ned, which is treated with its own dignity, discussion, and respect. At the start of action, he and matt have been friends for half that time, and they have barely spent any time so much as contemplating anything more.

Legitimately, the only relationship thing that MJ and Peter haven't done in this fic is have sex. And like, spoilers, that's gonna happen in this fic. It's fully coming. it's just that peter has spent twenty seven chapters trying to handle a medical condition that causes him extreme discomfort at all moments, and i could not think of a single goddamn reason why someone would ever want to have sex like that.

I also just find it interesting that you seem to think the conclusion of this will be that matt is the fated and best choice, because this entire fic has been created to communicate that there is absolutely no such thing. like. the idea that there's a fated and best partner out there has been made fun of multiple times explicitly. there's a scene i've been wanting to write that's gonna show up in the next couple chapters where MJ again makes fun of that idea out loud and to someone's face. It has this is a very heavy-handed fic. I've made zero effort to be subtle here.

I'm writing ABO. I have problems with Abo. anyone who has read my abo knows i have problems with ABO. I've made multiple posts on this tumblr explicitly discussing my problems with ABO, including the fact that i don't think there is any such thing as "fated" partners, which is a big part of ABO.

ABO usually is extremely heteronormative in the sense that alphas and omegas are usually decided to be biologically the perfect partner for each other in every way. usually, there's some bullshit scent thing that means you've found your "perfect" mate.

That's insane! That's bullshit! If someone ever comes up to you on the streets and informs you that you are fated soulmates because of how you smell, you should pepper spray them and call the police.

MJ and peter's relationship was created to explicitly communicate that love follows hard work and effort. they are the product of ten years of trying, desperately, to be the kind of person who makes the other's life better. they put in an insane amount of effort to be good for the other perfect, and that's what makes them soulmates.

i'm not going to say that matt's relationship with peter plays second fiddle to MJ's, because there's no such thing. a big point of this is that their loves are not interchangeable. each are important and unique in their own way. But peter's love with MJ is more mature. It's ten years in the making, and something they've put an insane degree of work into. Peter's love with Matt, meanwhile, is in its inception. Baby steps. MJ and Peter are going to be together until the end of the fucking world because they've put in the work to have forever. Matt and Peter haven't put in any of that work, because they haven't even gotten together yet. MJ's relationship with Peter is the certain one in this fic; matt's relationship is far from it. Whether Matt and Peter stay together after they get together is going to be defined by whether they put in the same effort into this relationship that Peter and MJ have already put into building theirs.

To answer your question, I included MJ because I did not want to take the female biracial love interest and make her either a lesbian, a bitch, or dead to make way for the white male love interest, which is what fandom usually does. I'm pretty sure i've already made a post on my tumblr that explicitly states that reasoning. i wrote hand-spun silk as a writing experiment that got way out of hand. I was trying to write ABO for the first time to see if i could, knew that i wanted to just do a cut-and-dry "oh no i need sex as part of a medical condition who around could ever help me" traditional premise as my basis. peter originally wasn't even there, I just subbed him in because Matt was too angsty and traumatized to be the omega and for it to still not have rapey undertones. for reasons i've already explained in another post, i decided peter needed to be single when he decided to help matt out, which meant he couldn't be in an active relationship with MJ at the time. For the purposes of making that fic work logistically, I made it so that they had already decided to spend forever with each other, were in an extremely committed QPR with Ned, and had an on-again off-again thing romantically due to their own personal mental health reasons, and it just happened to be off again at the time of the rut. I made that decision because i did not want to brush her aside in favor of Matt, even for the purposes of what was supposed to be a very short writing experiment that i would never continue.

When i decided to continue the universe? i got MJ and Peter back together in legitimately the first scene of chapter one, and the entire fic since has been devoted to depicting their love.

And i'm gonna be frank, I did not plan for this to be polyamory in hand-spun silk. because i never planned to continue hand-spun silk. when i started hand-spun silk, i didn't even ship peter/matt--i legitimately just did it to see if i could. the original ending was the same ending that made the final cut, but both peter and matt end up walking away from it without any feelings. Matt cracks the exact same joke of "You should know that this experience has made me fall madly in love with you," and then peter calls matt an asshole and they both have a good laugh and walk away as friends. Peter goes back to be with MJ, Matt goes back to be with Foggy, and they never become anything more. but then i decided to give writing them getting together a try, because i talked myself into the ship. I decided on polyamory from the start, because eschewing MJ in favor of matt was never an option. because my explicit intent was to not push aside the female, biracial love interest in favor of a white male one. spideychelle is in this fic because this is every bit their love story as it is peter and matt's.

Today is, officially, the last day of 2020 - so it's literally just in time that I'm getting to @aosrecweek's amazing challenge. But that does go to show the nature of this crazy year a little bit, right? Time has just been INSANE, and I honestly cannot believe it's so close to over.

That said, I want to put it out there that everyone - absolutely everyone - who created something in this mad year, is a SUPERHERO. Like. We could have hidden away in dark corners, curled into little balls, and lost touch with our creativity entirely - but instead, we made some of the most fantastic content I have ever seen. And, excuse the language, but that is fucking amazing, of each and every single one of us. We're bloody INCREDIBLE, you guys. We really are.

'tis the damn season - my first attempt at writing a multi-chap, and, yeah, it only has one chapter as of now, but I really love said chapter. Basically, it's Daisy and Mackelena being friends, and honestly just the BEST friends - I adore the style I managed to achieve in this thing. Plus, the Skimmons I have planned up next is going to be da bomb.

the closest thing - Philindaisy plus fake family. Also; amusement parks. And for a fangirl like me - well, it was pretty much a dream come true to write!

oh valley of plenty - in this fic, I basically told myself, so AoS won't give us Huntingbird in the finale? Fine. I'll just do it myself then - in the fluffiest way possible. And that's exactly what I did - making them, and their kids, be best friends in Perthshire.

maybe life should be about more - a very angsty Skimmons and Daisy-centric AU, focusing on the internalised homophobia Daisy has experienced through her life, and shaking it off (and eventually, y'know, getting together with Jemma.)

and it's dark in a cold december (but i've got you to keep me warm) - Fitzsimmons just make such a supreme pairing for hurt/comfort, what with how insanely well they understand each other and care about each other, so I'm really glad for the Fitzsimmons Secret Santa giving me the chance to write this! Basically, this follows our science duo through a stressful mission on Christmas Eve (so yes, it's a mission fic!!) and realising that the two of them can do anything together.

july second - ahhh, one of my personal favourites to write! Daisy birthday surprise fluff will always be top-notch for me, especially for all the team-as-family fluff you can add in, especially especially that this is set in Staticquake times! Also, it's from Hunter's point of view, which will forever be the most insanely fun thing to write, I do think.

and man I don't know where the time goes (but it sure goes fast like that) - Another Bus Kids movie night fic, but this one set post-season 7, and reflecting on how far they've come. A little bit more hurt/comfort-y than it's pure fluff prequel, but still super fluffy and soft. And, of course, with a happy ending.

she shares my dreams, i hope that someday, i'll share her home - snowy Fitzsimmons fluff, complete with them falling in love at the Winter Olympics, as you do.

then you walked in and my heart went boom - 16k of Dekesy for the wife, and remarkable for that, because literally a month ago from this, I hated Dekesy with my entire soul. Then I started reading Kat's fics, and, well, fell in love with them... so much so that I wrote sixteen thousand words of enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, bed sharing holiday fluff for them.

a love like that - a Fitzsimmons Cinderella AU, featuring my two favourite science babies, in true science bby style, falling in love over science and how stupid the whole courting thing is. Also, Daisy makes a brief appearance, and she's the freaking best.

ever after - ah, probably the one single fic I'm proudest of. A post-season 7 Daisy character study focusing on her emotional rollercoaster re: losing her family/things never being the same again, which just achieves... an emotional level that I have never managed to replicate again. I was full-on sobbing while writing it, and, guys, it also part-holds the Closest To Making Kat Cry prize.

blue - Daisy character study spanning snapshots of seven seasons, and before - but tied together by something blue in every moment. Researching for this, and finding all the blue moments, was very interesting, and immensely satisfying, especially since all the moments where a little bit of blue was present actually combine to chronicle Daisy's journey on the show remarkably well.

hold out your hand, 'cause friends will be friends - the wife's favourite, and, as second fics go, pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. It's a Soulmates AU for Staticquake and Mackelena, with the focus being on DaisyMack friendship, and lots of denial, angst, and guilt about finding their soulmates. (They figure it out eventually, don't worry - it's me, of course I made them happy.)

Fitzsimmons + Fake Dating moodboard - Fake dating will always be FAB, and picturing it out in a moodboard - especially for my clueless bby best friends in love - was the best, and super satisfying.

Staticquake + Orange moodboard - One of the cooler ideas I had for Trick or Treat (which I still have not finished, heaven help me) was to make a series of moodboards for my OTP plus different colours. This orange one is just so light, and cheerful, and happy, and honestly I kinda adore it.

This Philindaisy + Family Moodboard - making moodboards can be insanely frustrating when you just can't find the photo that fits exactly right. With this one, however, I found all the pics I needed pretty insanely fast, and, better, the whole thing just worked, and really nicely so, too.

This Bus Kids + Baking Cookies moodboard - there's absolutely NO faults to be found with tiny, adorable Skye, Fitz and Jemma concocting choc chip cookies - but I'm actually doing a tiny cheat here, because, cute as my moodboard here is, the accompanying fic by my love @eowima is the SWEETEST and best thing you could ever wish for!!!

You will laugh, you will groan, you will want to wrap Daisy in a very tight hug, and you will probably cry, too. This fic just has it all, really!

there goes the maddest man this town has ever seen by @aleksandrachaev - the post-season 7 Deke-crashes-the-Framework-Zoom-call fic I didn't know I needed (but spent the next two weeks rereading every single night.) It is absolutely INCREDIBLE, with all the Deke & Team feels we missed in the final outro scene, and honestly just the most fantastic writing. I cannot recommend it enough!

To Box It Up And Start Again (everything must go) by @aleksandrachaev - bloody hell, this BROKE me. Deke never really got to say goodbye in canon, but Kat gave him the chance to do it here. And, my freaking GOODNESS, she made it so incredibly bittersweet and heart-shattering. 10/10

i am a leaf on the wind by @aleksandrachaev - a little bit of a stretched-out, reflective moment in the season 7 finale. As Daisy lingers on the edge of death, she reflects on all the lives she could have had - and, man, what a study in bittersweetness!! This entire fic is utterly incredible, and something I think all Daisy fans should read.

Falling Into Place by @aleksandrachaev - here's a tiny cheat from me (sorry, babes, lmao) because technically this isn't one fic, but a series of three. Way too amazing to miss out on, though!! Set mid-season 7, this has the Chronicoms go after a young Mary Sue Poots to kill Quake before she can become a problem for them. They stop the Chronicoms, yes, but not without a TREMENDOUS dose of feels and hurt/comfort. There's also a wonderful little dose of Dekesy friendship, and then an adult adoption (!!) that honestly made my entire day to read. Actually, that's true for the entire series - I really canNOT yell about it enough!!

destroyer of worlds by @bobbimorseisbisexual - a study in incredible parallels between Jiaying's daughters. Utterly breathtakingly done, this will give you ALL the feels for this small and complex Inhuman family.

Muscle Memory by @robotgort and @bobbimorseisbisexual - a Huntingbird!! Bones!! AU!! And also a collaboration between two of the most fabulous Huntingbird authors in the fandom - honestly, what more can you ask for?! This will make you laugh, and gasp, and wince, and keep you guessing at each new plot twist (and also screaming at your screen for Hunter and Bobbi to get their acts together and TALK ABOUT IT.) In short: it's completely and utterly amazing, and I cannot, cannot recommend it enough!!

You Belong Among the Wildflowers by @libbyweasley - a freaking incredible Scis & Spies Regency AU! I only just started reading, but I was hooked all the way through, especially on the way Libby writes all four characters' complex relationships (and their attraction, and their history!) Everything about it is just completely stunning, and I for one cannot WAIT for these beautiful idiots to figure out they all belong together.

Family Snapshot by @tomatobookworm - if it's family fluff you're after, especially Staticquake family fluff, look no further! This tremendously soft and utterly amazing fic follows a day in the lives of a pregnant Daisy and her husband Lincoln, and their not-so-little family of Inhumans, both adopted and biological. There's also shopping with Grandma May, lots of feels, lots of shippiness, and just AMAZINGNESS all the way through!!

Best Day Ever by @loved-the-stars-too-fondly - Jemma and Daisy want to adopt a pet, and make a very special trip to Wisconsin to do it. Also, whether he knows who he is or not, Jemma has an important question to ask Cal - and just, AHHHH, everything about this is utterly stunning! For starters, Aubrey's writing is FANTASTIC, and the scene she sets is absolutely beautiful, and so very bittersweet. I was actually misting up a little with happy tears towards the end of this - really, I cannot recommend this enough, to any Skimmons fan.

so why don't we go somewhere only we know by @loved-the-stars-too-fondly - more Skimmons (platonic this time, though), more hurt/comfort, and, yes, again, more absolutely INCREDIBLE writing. This one is canon compliant, following a shaken Jemma struggling to sleep after Maveth, and how Daisy finds a way to help her out. Incredibly sweet, tender and BEAUTIFULLY written, this one was an instant favourite the moment I read it!

Unspoken by @anxiouslynumbme - a birthday fic for yours truly, and, honestly, one of the most STUNNING Staticquake introspectives I've read. It follows Daisy and Lincoln in a beautifully tender missing moment in season 3, with them both realising their feelings, and just... AHHHHHHHH, everything about it is utterly incredible!! I cannot, cannot recommend this gem of a fic enough

the thing about water droplets and ruffled hair by @que-mint-tea - here's another fic that proves, once and for all, how good Kat's Dekesy is, because it managed to convert T to write some Dekesy smut. And, oh my GOSH, what Dekesy smut - so goshdarn angsty, but so FANTASTICALLY characterised and written that it leaves you more than a little breathless, and gaping at your screen. The first chapter initially left us on the most HORRIFIC cliffhanger, but then T fixed it, and it's just... this thing is really a whole new level of emotional writing, raw and gripping and intensely perfect for both of these characters. My haw still drops whenever I think of this thing, and how utterly AMAZING it was, so yeah. Fic rec!!!

beautiful stranger, there you are by @justanalto - I do believe I still owe Serena a long and very gushy comment on this thing, because, MAN, does it ever deserve that!! Pipsy and fake dating, with the most HILARIOUSLY incredible writing, plot and characterisation, and honestly just a giddy "askhdfkhsfh" whenever I think back to how much I enjoyed it. Yup, it was that good.

Jumping to conclusions by @eowima - a very special one, because it marks my love Océane's first venture into writing AoS fic! It's an AU of 1x06 (the Fitzsimmons episode of s1) where Fitz does actually jump out of the plane to save Jemma. Realisations of feelings, and some of the most genuinely FANTASTIC Fitz characterisation I've read in a while, follow - and, yup, I was shouting at my screen for them just to get together already. Amazing stuff, really!!

Look into your eyes and the sky's the limit by @eowima - okay, this. This. Another gift for me, and one that I will probably treasure forEVER, because it is just?? so?? utterly?? perfect?? Just for starters, the title is a Hamilton reference - and then the theme of Hamilton references continues into the fic itself, I'm delighted to say. There's also the most BEAUTIFUL, playful Skimmons friendship, and teasing, and then of course the bet about who can make out with their crush first... Staticquake & Fitzsimmons perfection. And all rendered in Océane's delightful, best-thing-ever-to-read writing!! I'm going into a giddy keyboard smash just THINKING about this, so yeah, cannot recommend it enough.

lullabies and clear blue skies by @springmagpies and @bobbimorseisbisexual - okay, I never thought I'd catch myself shipping FitzBobbi, let alone shipping it this hard, but... wow. Maggie and Al teamed up to completely blow me away, and MELT MY WHOLE ENTIRE HEART with the sheer cuteness of this!! It features Fitz, Bobbi and adopting two daughters, and it's just the most tender, beautiful development through that little family - I love it so, so much.

We made all the wrong choices by @browneyedgenius - the winner of the AoS Angst War 2020, how could I not include this one? It is such a well-deserved win, though, whoa - I was sobbing, full-on sobbing, at least twice while reading. It follows the season 5 team through the events of the time-loop, after they failed to save the world - and, oh my gosh, it ripped my heart right out of my chest, but beautifully so. Everything about this fic just hits so hard, and it's written so well - yeah, really a most AMAZINGLY deserved win, for an utterly SHATTERINGLY incredible fic.

I threw stones at the stars (but the whole sky fell) by @nazezdha321 - this is Z showing us all how to write a backstory for a minor character, and write it so well that everyone's hearts break all over again when she dies. This one is about Victoria Hand, and it builds a stirring and profound childhood for her, also making her rise through the ranks of SHIELD and just her entire character mean so much more. Really, fic-wise, this is goals, and I take my hat off to you, Z, 1000%, for writing it.

in which the universe is put together by @besidemethewholedamntime - Rebecca's emotional writing, particularly Fitzsimmons' emotions, is incomparable, and she proves it all over again in this fic. If follows Fitz and Jemma before, after and during the bloodwork, and I just... wow, honestly. The emotion!! And the characterisation!! Absolutely stunning, and honestly all I could wish for in a we-had-time fic.

Agents of SHIELD Season 8 by @egumal - THIS. This, this, this, oh my gosh - as fix-it fics go, this has to be the most spectacular one I have ever read. What it does is find a way - a potentially canon compliant way, too - to bring back Lincoln Campbell, and reunite Staticquake. Basically: just about as season 7 finishes, the Astro Ambassadors get an unexpected visitor from another timeline, who asks them to come help out against Hive. Case in point, Daisy meets her lost love again (... but he has no idea who she is) and also has to relive the Fallen Agent drama. It all gets even more complicated when Kora restores Lincoln's memories, and Daisy meets the full team Deke has assembled around him in the 33 years (for him) that they've been apart... in short, this is one of the most thorough, well-written and downright SHOCKING plot-twist-wise fics that you will ever read, and honestly, saying "I can't recommend it enough" is an understatement. This thing is thd BEST, plain and simple!

Black Roses aren't real (but you and I are) by @ohwriteiforgot - ahhhh, a fic that will always have an incredibly special place in my heart, because it introduced me to one of my best fandom friends. The main focus is on Clintasha, it's true, but it's also a crossover with AoS in the sense that Clint was adopted by Coulson and May. Also, Daisy is his little sister, and their bond is gold. Also - there's Staticquake!! And flower shops!! And rivals to friends to lovers!! All I'm going to say is, what more can you ask for?!

A book to shield my story by @maybebrilliant - Staticquake High School AU, ahhhhhhhh!! There are only two chapters out so far, but the way this is shaping up is making my DAY - with Daisy as the new girl who meets Lincoln and his group of friends, and, though her foster parents are absolutely shit, starts to find actual happiness in a school for the first time in her life. Also - THE REFERENCES. Guys. I'm crazy for those, and in this book, so are my favourite dorks, Daisy and Lincoln - and let me tell you, it's nothing short of the best thing ever.

This AoS Finale Gif Edit by @heysteverogers - AoS really has been the most INCREDIBLE journey through the years, but what's really made it special is the company - and that's summed up perfectly in this gorgeous gifset. Also, the graphics on this are just, ahhhh, stunning - I'm in awe, and I've spent very long periods of time just looking at this thing in a state of heart-eyes.

This AoS Finale Gif Edit by @jemannesimms - combining Auld Lang Syne and the final scenes of my favourite show was a raw emotional - but utterly brilliant experience - for me. It's just so absolutely beautiful, and perfectly suited to the team, and their goodbyes!! Breathtaking editing work here, too.

This Daisy as Peter Parker and May as Tony Stark moodboard by @agentsofcomedyandchaos - ahhhh, a crossover of two of my favourite fandoms!! And what a lovely one, too - the colour scheme, quotes, and just the whole FEEL of this is absolutely genius, and I am guilty of being inspired by way too many fic ideas by it. Stunning stuff!!

And... whoa, that was long, but I really do feel that we deserve a bit of a proper pat on the back after creating such magical content in such a messed up year. this is like asking me to pick my favorite child. I’ll do it...but reluctantly. this love is like sun on the rise as my multichap because it was really the biggest step I took connecting Peter and MJ as on screen characters to real people. plus weddings are emotional and I love them. the one shot I’m most proud of is the older i get (the more that i see). I’m very fond of the way it turned out even though it hurt my feelings. (did I cheat by picking two fics? oh well)

3. Work you are least proud of (and why)

I’m proud of all my fics but if I had to choose one, it would be one of my earlier ones like i (don’t not) love you because...well. Only three chapters in and I can tell you it’s never getting finished. :)

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing

Again with the hard questions AHH. here’s one from the love you gave me, darling (nothing else can save me)

Michelle has to stay as far away as possible.

Because in his reflection, inky tendrils are snaking around his skin, engulfing Peter in the very same darkness he’s been fearing as of late.

It takes the shape of something that’s not like him at all, more venomous than anything.

But it’s the exact same monster from his dream. The one Michelle had encountered, leading her to a terrible fate.

And now he knows that it’s not just any monster.

It’s him.

The way I was so happy with how this fic ended??? Unbelievable.

5. Share or describe a favourite review you received

Honestly, during Spideychelle Week which I 100% was not planning on doing until the first day it actually started, (yeah i wrote each fic the day it should’ve been posted, i thought that’s how it worked 😭) the comments I received from the people in this fandom are still some of my most memorable! Mainly because I was mostly still lurking on the sidelines and was floored that they were reading. It definitely brought me closer into the fandom ♥️

6. A time when writing was really, really hard

Any time I’m having writer’s block or anxiety about whether or not a fic is going to turn out well, or if people are going to like it at all. I second guess myself a lot, and hopefully that’ll change this year.

7. A scene of characters you wrote that surprised you

I was surprised I wrote a Felicia & Peter scene in falling feels like flying (til the bone crush) but I really liked how it turned out.

8. How did you grow as a writer this year

By letting my whims take me where I want to go and not stressing out if it’s not perfectly done (even if I just learned that near the end)

9. How do you hope to grow next year

I hope I can manage to find my writing style? I swear it changes each day, and it would be nice if that didn’t happen.

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta of cheerleader or muse etc. etc.)

The whole fandom was such a positive influence. Definitely helped me out of my private corner lmao. I do love screaming at @i-lovethatforme and @mjonesing though because one is fluffy and one is an angst monster, my two favorite tropes!! They’re very lovely people and I adore them both.

11. Anything from real life show up in your writing this year

Some of MJ’s personality traits that make it in there are mine as well...👀 among other things, I’m sure.

12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers

Am I going to piggyback off jess’s answer? Probably. Getting involved is the best way to form friendships and it makes writing so much more fun when there’s someone to scream with about ideas / frustrations!

13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year

I’m hoping to finish when you said your last goodbye :’) Who’s to say it’ll actually happen? Not me. I have a lot more wips and ideas in my docs that I’d like to start on as well.

Most Popular Multi-Chap (Kudos): Ginny Weasley & The Chamber of Secrets, the first of my Ginny Weasley: The Girl Who Lived series!

Personal Favorite: this is a hard one, so I’ll drop two in. I’ve got a special place in my heart for my oft-ignored little one-shot about Arabella Figg, called Arabella’s Dilemma, and I can’t wait to write more of my sequel to GW:CoS, Ginny Weasley & The Legacy of Blood. It’s hard to choose between the Spider-Man stories because I love em all!

Method For Titling Fics: I either call it something from the get-go that ultimately becomes the name, or I panic about it right as I’m about to post and choose some arbitrary phrase that isn’t that far off

Work I’m Nervous About Posting: I get that familiar anxiety spike for about the 30 min before posting to about 2 hrs after I posted for everything, but smut fics usually take the cake. There is a WIP I’m a little worried about that isn’t ready for posting yet, but it is part of a very thinly represented fandom so I’m sure that one will take the lead as I finish up a first chapter...

Do I Outline or Wing It?: I outline it hardcore! I love brainstorming and outlining, so the more outlined it is, the more I can delay actually writing it. I try to keep the actual scenes more open for when I write it love to let inspiration drive the show!

AO3 Stats: reminder - stats don’t really have any correlation with quality, but whatever! There is definitely a difference in how responsive people are in different fandoms, and when smut is involved. I don’t tend to get as many responses (in kudos or comments) in HP stories vs Spideychelle (though HP fandom is still very heavily based on ffn), and smut fics tend to get a lot more hits and bookmarks compared to kudos and comments. Tell me if you like it you horny gremlins!

Hi, I’m always getting asks asking me for recs for spideychelle/petermj fics so I thought why not just do a whole series (it has to be a series bc there are A LOT of fics) where I rec fics according to genre/trope/my own made up category bc why not? I’ve read too many spideychelle fics so might as well put that useless near-encyclopaedic knowledge to use *shrugs*

2020 overview: writing edition

tagging: some people have been tagged throughout this, but anyone who wants to! This was actually really satisfying to take a moment and look back on some of the things I’ve achieved this year, and I highly recommend anyone who writes to give it a shot.

2. Work you are most proud of (and why)

I’m proud of all of my fics in many ways, but if I had to pick it’d be what it means to be living because of the sheer amount of time I spent on it. Nine months. It is literally my baby! I had a vague concept that I kept writing random scenes for but it had little direction for a long time - I just knew I needed to write it. Eventually I found my footing and then the prompts for Spideychelle Week came out, and from then on it became the Peter Pan AU. Using that story gave it exactly what it needed for me to realise it was a less a story about two characters falling in love, and more about myself and my journey through life. The themes of it are very personal and I got to explore a lot of things that I could then let go of and grow from, and I’m very happy with the way it turned out in the end!

3. Work you are least proud of (and why)

The fic we don’t talk about, not because I don’t love it, but because I have the worst writer’s block for the next chapter and I just want to get to the good bit!

4. A favourite excerpt of your writing

Ah this is a terrible question! Probably the whole of the deterioration of Peter and MJ’s relationship is part 2 of three time’s a charm, particularly:

She wakes up alone.

He’s staring into his cup of coffee when she finds him in the kitchen, white knuckles wrapped around the ceramic.

The tea he’s brewed for her is now lukewarm.

The sheets had been cold.

She links their fingers and when he finally looks at her, his eyes are red and wet.

“I know,” she whispers.

“I don’t know why,” he cries. When she doesn’t say anything, just strokes her thumb over the pulse in his wrist, he asks, “What do we do?”

This story was such a creative challenge to write as a whole, but to put across the pain of their breakup in very few words was so complicated. Reading it back now hits as hard as it did when I wrote it all those months ago - I have to read the rest of the fic to remind myself of how they mend their relationship just to calm my heart.

5. Share or describe a favourite review you received

I don’t want to out any particular reviews, but I will say that @tvfanatic97-2 has made me horrifically emotional on several occasions with her reviews - still not over the peter pan review, don’t touch me.

6. A time when writing was really, really hard

I just got back into writing after a few years away, but I’ve been writing pretty much nonstop since probably March? Then I got to December and just... Lost it. Couldn’t fathom writing anything semi-decent again. I went so hard on my thotumn fic for all of November, as well as two other fics scattered between, that I just reached burnout. I’m still struggling through the ends of that, but mostly it just meant taking a break and reminding myself that I don’t need to push myself so hard - writing is supposed to be enjoyable, and when it starts to become a chore, you need to walk away.

7. A scene of characters you wrote that surprised you

Honestly, if someone had told me this time last year that I’d be ending the year with a fic from the perspective of a snowman, I’d have laughed you right out of the internet.

8. How did you grow as a writer this year

I learnt some important lessons this year, including:

If you want it, go for it. As long as you love what you’re writing, that’s what matters most.

You are better than you think you are. Stop doubting yourself and let yourself just enjoy your creativity.

People are kind. Do not be afraid to reach out.

9. How do you hope to grow next year

I’d like to learn how to write an actual multi-chap. I tend towards a multitude of shorter scenes instead of really exploring a moment, which is great for oneshots but not so much for multi-chaps, which I have an unreasonable amount of in progress.

10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta of cheerleader or muse etc. etc.)

To refer back to my lessons learned this year; people are kind. I have never been part of a fandom where I’ve been so involved and so in touch with a multitude of people, and each of them have been an inspiration to me throughout the year. I can’t possible mention them all by name, but there’s so many people who have helped me in big ways and small ways, from letting me talk out an idea to just making me laugh. Sometimes that’s all you need.

I’d be remise if I didn’t mention a few people of course; @michellesbohh has been an absolute rock to me from the moment she wandered into my inbox, and I adore her more than words can say for how sweet and amazing she’s been with both my writing and my general life. @i-lovethatforme is, without a doubt, the kindest person on the planet - go on, try to fight me on that, I dare you - and getting to know her and probably spend more time talking to her every day than I do any of my own family is the highlight of my year. And @spiderman-homecomeme, who has been the best sounding board for the stupid things that come out of my brain, and never fails to make me laugh with her infectious joy and warm heart. Special mention to @coykoii who has been the most annoying yet hilarious friend to make (love you and hate you too!) and @forasecondtherewedwon who has put up with my ridiculous behaviour in her inbox both in terms of horrifying images and emojis.

Basically, everyone has been a positive influence on me (bar Jill. She’s a terrible influence) and I love you all. Goodnight.

I already touched on that in my answer for 2, but there is a scene in when you give that look to me (i better look back carefully) that I will not elaborate on.

12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers

PEOPLE ARE KIND. We always love to have another person to scream with, so reach out to your favourite creators and members of the fandom! Also, always, always write what you want. Follow your whims and it’ll flow from your brain far easier than something you’re trying to force. 

13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year

I would very much like to finish most of my multi-chaps, as well as the final story in the when i’m with you series and part 3 of our maybe!

14. If you could recommend only one work from yourself published this year

we are nothing more than recycled stardust and borrowed energy is a firm favourite.

Most popular multi-chapter (by kudos): room 337 - clarke’s a neurosurgeon with a shady past, and when octavia is brought into her OR, she suddenly has to confront her dark history and the reasons she sacrificed herself and her love. one of the angstiest things i’ve written, heavily based on my limited exposure to grey’s anatomy.

Favourite story you’ve written so far: I think the best thing i’ve written is the nurse at fort vaux - battle bellarke trapped in a time loop in world war one, trying to save a doomed fort. i also really loved don’t know how long till I feel, till I feel at home - steve harrington x OC soumates who share pain, I think there’s a lot of clever/fun dialog and mundane stuff that’s just special in it.

Fic you were nervous to post: i’m gonna say team pictures - being predominantly bellarke at the time, i was really nervous to post braven, but someone requested it, so i had to! ii don’t think they even have a kiss haha but i was nervous...also it was my first experience writing for less popular ship. 

How do you choose your titles?: honestly with so much shame. i either pull a line from the fic, or I grab a line from a song that ties into it. 

Do you outline?: oh that is a level of prepared that i absolutely am not. sometimes i’ll do like a checklist of the things that I want to happen, just for the gratification of deleting that phrase as I write it haha

There’s one that I’m working on for Chopped holidays and then a Letters to Juliet!bellarke (but genderbent) via t100-for-blm that I’m really stoked for. i think it’s SO interesting that when I look at movie AUs for bellarke, more often than not, I end up genderbending. clarke and bellamy fit a lot of archetypes that I don’t expect, and it’s fun to make them work.

Rewrite The Stars - The Spider-woman MJ fic where Peter is her nerdy crush who helps keep her mess of a life together!

Leap Of Faith - Volleyball!MJ where she’s on a team with a lot of women from the Spider-verse and Peter gets wrapping into being their team manager for the season! My current favorite and my focus at the moment. Chapter 2 is going up today.

Spyder-Man - What if Peter Parker was recruited by SHIELD shortly after he started swinging instead of the Avengers? Basically some adventures of SHIELD!Peter as he meets the Avengers and has some fun with other SHIELD favorites. 

Learning - Peter’s life hits a low point, and it feels like everything is falling apart. MJ sees him at his low points and helps him learn how to help himself and how to accept help from others.

Outta Your League - Nervous about meeting the Avengers and terrified of them not taking him seriously or forcing him to stop, Peter has a somewhat forced, but gradual introduction to the Avengers as the rise of his first big enemy, some guy in a vulture outfit happens. 

An Overnight Trip to Stark Industries - A field trip trope fic! One of my favorites, but on a little bit of a hiatus while I go back and tweak some of the earlier chapters just a bit. I was a little harsher on Flash than I like now, as this was one of my first fics for the fandom but honestly some of the cutest Spideychelle moments are in this so I won’t give up on this fic!

December 18th - One week before Christmas Peter and MJ have been living together for two years now. They decided it was the best way to not be totally broke because of their attempt to live in NYC while college and being close to their families in Queens. And the best way for Peter to be Spider-Man and be close to the Avengers facilities without anyone knowing, including MJ. Peter didn't knew how he have managed to keep his identity hidden while living with MJ but it was good, she wasn't in danger if she didn't know about his superhero thing. Peter and MJ had strict rules about their privacy and that made everything easier. They never went to the others bedrooms for anything, at least one of them was sick and that wasn't happening frequently. So basically Peter charged his IronSpider suit without worrying about MJ finding it and probably friking out and his three different suits were on the closet or under his bed totally save. MJ had her own secrets and he wasn't the right person to sneak a peek inside her room to find out, so he respected her room, privacy and secrets as much as she respected his. Morgan has called on a Thursday claiming that she needed to spend time with his big brother on Christmas break or she will take him out of work from The Bugle on some fake news that Spider-Man was around a shopping mall she wanted to visit. The ten year old was very persistent, just like her parents. Of course he said yes, he wanted to take some pictures of Manhattan while you can still walk around Central Park, also, some early shopping for Christmas was too perfect to reject. Morgan arrived to MJ and Peter's apartment early in the morning and took a second quick breakfast with her brother and MJ. ---------

"So, Morgan! How's school going?" MJ was familiar now with the little girl and wasn't surprised of Peter's contacts with the Stark. What she never understood was how Peter ended up working for J. Jonah Jameson and not in Stark Industries, maybe his passion for photography was bigger than his love for chemistry and labs. "Pretty good, actually! I'm looking forward to High school, looks exciting" oh poor innocent soul. But she wasn't going to break her little bubble of happiness, definitely not on the holidays! "You're getting old Morgan! High school? That's big!" Peter was always cheering Morgan, no matter what. He was such a good old brother "Then you are even more old because you are in college and you have a job, too" Morgan said with her mouth full of pancakes, that MJ was pretty sure Pepper will not approve. "MJ! You are gonna let her treat us like grannies because we have a job?" Peter always tried to get MJ involved in his conversations but she still had that little observant in her from High school "Well, if we are that old then we can't go shopping today. What if we get a cold? That would be terrible for this two old people" that was the plan, shopping with Morgan but MJ had another plan for her visit to Manhattan, but they didn't need that information "noooo!!!! We have to go shopping! My dad gave me lots of money to spend on everyone’s present! I want to buy something nice for Uncle Happy and Aunt May, for mom and dad and of course for you both! Even for Ned and Betty!" yes, that was their little group now. How on earth Peter was able to keep such a strong relationship with the Starks and his security head, after two years working for their labs, was still a mystery. Well, it wasn't hard to get attached to the Parkers and with Peter always came Ned and now Betty. "Ok Morgan! Then let's go. If we are in Manhattan as soon as the shops are open we will get good presents for everyone" the little girl took her plate when the pancakes were to the kitchen and run to get her coat, scarf and gloves for the cold. "How much money do you think she actually has, Parker?" "She is ten, so maybe not much. But she is a Stark so maybe a couple hundred? Who knows? I'm gonna text Pepper just to check, if I text Tony he will probably encourage her to buy the whole shopping mall" Peter walked to his room while Morgan returned from the living room and started jumping in front on MJ to show her that she was ready to go "Ok, we will go in a few. Can you go to your brother's room for a bit while I look for my things?" "Yeap! Don't take long, MJ!" "Don't worry. I will be fast. Promise!" MJ walked to her room and locked the door. She needed to change something from her outfit without Peter and Morgan knowing. That will bring lots of questions that she wasn't ready to answer, especially to Peter. She took her bag with all the things she needed for the day and checked twice that the leather suit under her clothes wasn't visible. "MJ is back!! We can go! Let's go Pete" Morgan was bubbling with happiness so they finally went out of the little apartment. They went down the five floors and started walking through the cold streets of New York with Morgan in between them. Each holding one of her tiny hands. The girl was talking about her school friends, her new favorite topic in class and her love for science, just like his dad. Peter and Morgan were having a lovely chat about the new tech Stark was designing while MJ was waiting for her moment to leave them for a while. "How do you know all of this, Morgan? Pepper hasn't forbid you from the labs?" "Yeah, but she stopped telling me to not go there after my tenth time sneaking into the labs." "As reasonable as your dad, I see" "And you Pete. That's why you are my brother" Peter had an easy smile on his face when he talked to Morgan. It was nice to see him so relaxed, he was extremely stressed and had been for the last year. College could be a nightmare even being a genius like Peter. "Ammm, I have to go Morgan. Would you forgive me if I go for a few minutes? I promise I will be back" "Nooo!!! Why? I can talk to you more if you want. It’s just that Peter never shuts up" "Its fine Morgan. I love hearing you both talk about nerdy things, but can I tell you a secret?" the girl’s eyes light up and she moved away a little from Peter "I'm very good at keeping secrets, MJ. You can trust me" MJ got to Morgan’s level which means she was almost on her knees. "I'm going to buy Peter's present and he can't see it because it's a surprise. Can you keep that secret?" Morgan's face showed all her excitement and started nodding furiously "Then I will text Peter when I'm done, ok?" she said the last looking at Peter to let him know she was going back with them "Ok! See you MJ!!" Morgan waved at MJ while she crossed the street to a few jewelry stores. She entered one of the stores and checked that Peter and Morgan were gone before leaving to a close ally to change into her leather suit, mask and silver wig. ------ "MJ is really nice. And pretty!" if Peter never closed his mouth, Morgan was just like him, but Peter loved it "Yeah. She is really nice" "And pretty. My dad said he is a little bit afraid of her for all your stories about her in high school but I think that makes her even greater" "Well yes, she is pretty and why I never knew your dad was afraid of MJ? Now I'm gonna mock him for that" "you didn't hear it from me, Pete" "so, what where you and MJ talking about?" "No, no, it's a secret and I don't share secrets even if there are small. Like your secret, does MJ knows, by the way?" "No, she doesn't and you know that's the best thing for her so it's going to be a secret until something terrible happens like she gets in my room and I'm arriving from patrol or something like that" he didn't want to think about the possibility of MJ finding out about him being Spider-Man because patrol ended bad "How's Ned doing? Is he still your Guy in the Chair?" "Nop, he is retired. Now he has proclaimed himself as a FOS" "what's that?" "FOS as Friend of Spider-Man" "so, I'm a FOS too, right?"

"Yes, you are Morgan. That's why you have to be really careful on not speaking about Spidey outside of the labs or the facilities. Ok?" "Yeap. Got it. Don't worry about that. Mom thought me well. She talked about a few bad experiences she had because she is close to my dad and I don't want to go through any of that" Morgan was very young but very intelligent, any other kid would be screaming at the top of their lungs that their adoptive brother was a superhero just like their dad. But she knew better than that. "Hey! Look at all the snow in the park. Do you wanna built a snowman, Morgan?!" he was very excited about the possibility but Morgan not so much "I would love it but can we wait for MJ? I think she will enjoy it as much as we will" "Ok. Let me check my phone for any messages. Maybe she wrote me and we didn't notice" no new messages from MJ, but apparently Black Cat had stolen a few things from a store on the opposite side of Manhattan. The police was taking care of the case but the evidence wasn't much. They never had enough evidence when Black Cat was involved, she was becoming a problem in New York and Peter was going to pay more attention to the new dressed up villain, but first he needed to stop Rhino. He was the big problem, has been for the last year, appearing and disappearing every few months but each time he came back, he was stronger. "Did she say something?" "No yet. What if we go to that shopping mall, do some actual shopping and then back to that snowman?" "Yes! I want to buy some summer clothes to my dad and some beautiful heels to my mom! Maybe some kitchen utensils to Uncle Happy and more nice shoes for Aunt May! What do you think, Pete?" "I think we have lots of things to do then! Let's go before MJ is back. We need to buy her a present too" they walked to the shopping mall and got a few things for everyone. Morgan bought some shorts for Tony, with Iron Man's face on them, some really expensive heels for Pepper and May and different bakery supplies for Happy "I have Ned's present in Stark Industries. It's a new program my dad worked on that I think he will love. But don't tell him! It's a secret" "don't worry peanut, your secret it's save with me" "thanks Pete. Ok, what are we buying to MJ?" "I have an idea... But we have to go find somewhere affordable and that can sell me a very specific object. Santa can't bring that present from the North Pole for her" "You do know that Santa's not real, right?" "What? MORGAN! You can't say that!!" "I'm sorry Pete. Did I ruin your fantasy?" "No... But now that's a big secret you will have to keep. No one can know that Santa is not real" after Peter and Morgan went out of the store they choose for MJ's present, Peter's phone started to sound along to Jingle Bells. "Hey MJ. We done shopping here. Where are you? Do you wanna built a snowman?" "A snowman?" "Yes. Morgan wanted to wait for you to build it in the park a few block away from where we were" "Oh. Yeah. I know where, see you there in ten?" "Perfect. See you in a few" "She's coming to build the snowman?" "Yes she is" "I really like MJ, Peter" "Yeah. Me too" -----

After a small walk and some time to find the best place to build the snowman, MJ, Peter and Morgan reunited and started looking for things to complete the medium sized snowballs that they managed to make. Morgan found a few stones for the eyes, MJ took a few branches for the arms and Peter was trying to find something for the nose of the snowman. After a few minutes he found a branch that wasn't to tin as the snowman's arms but it was too long. He broke the branch in the thicker part and placed it in the snowman face. "Oh Peter! The gym is actually paying! You broke that like it was a pencil!" Morgan’s face screamed at him that that action wasn’t completely normal for a regular person "Yeeaaahhh... The, the gym! Of course!" MJ was looking at him a little bit suspicious. She still managed to hide most her emotions but after living with her, Peter learned to read her more than she thought. "Well, I need to start going to the gym too then, you have been going since high school and it's finally working apparently" Peter knew MJ wasn't stupid, or blind for the matter. She has seen him without a shirt and knew about how his body has changed through the years because of his superhero thing, but for her, and everyone else... He was just going to the gym. That was the logic explanation behind his ripped body and his very useful strength. Peter tried to move away from MJ’s suspicious face while lifting Morgan from the ground.

“I think it’s quite decent. What do you think, Em?” Peter asked MJ

“I don’t look that bad, actually! Morgan, can you rate the snowman?” They were looking at the weird snowballs with the stones for eyes and several branches around his “body”

“I give it a 7 out of 10, something is missing… A SCARF!!! He’s getting cold without a scarf” Ok, Santa wasn’t real but the snowman was getting cold. Peter and MJ shared a look and started laughing, they found funny that the snowballs were cold. Peter took his scarf off from around his neck and placed it on between the top snowball and the middle one.

“There you have it! Now he is fine and won’t get a cold” Morgan looked pleased at the snowman and took MJ’s hand in her right hand and she offered her left had to Peter.

“Ok, now it’s a ten. I think we can go and wrap all this presents on the apartment. Can we Peter?” Morgan looked a little tired

“We definitely should, maybe we can have some hot drink too” MJ wrapped her bag on her shoulder without letting go of Morgan’s hand while Peter took the six different bags from around the snowman and the three of them stared to head home.

Okay okay, because you basically gave me permission to ramble, this is gonna be so freaking long, but I’m doing it anyways, because I want to do every story that has it because I try to do stuff like this a ton, especially in multi-chapter stories!!

My favorite thing about this story is that it’s based entirely on poking fun at the fact that so many MCU villains are only villains because Tony made them mad somehow, because I think it’s hilarious and I’m proud of how I was able to poke fun at it while still properly representing the beautiful relationship between Tony and Peter and their individual characterizations. 

This has a very subtle incorporation of Spideychelle, because it takes place after Endgame, but assumes Far From Home never happened, so Peter and MJ aren’t really a thing yet, but you can kind of tell they’re going to be if you take notice of the way they react both around each other and about each other in this fic. 

There’s also a very subtle incorporation of Happy/May for the same reason--Far From Home hasn’t happened (yet), so their relationship is only just starting to come to pass. It’s referenced through Tony and Peter’s suspicious/surprised reactions when Happy suddenly wants to be with May all the time. 

I love the way I made time pass in this fic. At once point, I transition between scene using a watch, and throughout the fic, the passing of time and the number of minutes are constantly mentioned to serve as a sort of countdown as events transpire, and it’s subtle, but I feel like it really helps follow the passage of time and make it all even more realistic. 

It was hard to figure out how to express this, so I’m not sure how many people actually caught this, but I loved how I subtly showed that Bruce wound up finding a way to reverse what he did before Endgame and bring himself back to his normal self in order to help the city better. 

There’s a really subtle reference to Peter’s sensory overload when Perceptivo starts talking about how he was able to grab Peter in the first place. He never finishes his sentence, but the reader and Tony get a sense of what he’s getting at. 

Everytime I write in adorable Peter and Morgan moments, I get excited about it, and this fic is no different. That said, I love the way their relationship is portrayed, even if it is brief. 

Lastly, I love what I did with the chapter titles for this story. The titles match up, outside to in. The first and last chapter parallel each other as general titles (”The Unexpected Surprise” and “The Real Surprise”). The second and seventh title both reference a phrase said/implied in the chapter (”Forty-Three Minutes” and “Unconditional Love”). The third and sixth titles chapter titles that summarize the chapter, with the sixth one being a Star Wars reference, because of course ;) (”Lost Sleep, Long Night” and “It’s a Trap”). And lastly, the fourth and fifth chapters are lines quoted by the Peter and Tony in their respective POV chapters (”I Need to Handle This on My Own” and “Dammit Kid”). I worked hard on those, and I’m so proud of how they lined up. 

Always and Forever

I love love love how the sibling relationship between Peter, Harley, and Morgan develops in this one. I love that Harley and Morgan have an established relationship through video, but there’s still a sense of distance there, and I love how Peter and Morgan have a pre-determined relationship because of the stories Tony used to tell Morgan about Peter, but he doesn’t want to overstep, so it creates distance. I love Harley and Peter knowing about and already respecting each other and then being able to actually get to know each other for real and everything that comes with that. I just love how these three slowly get to know each other, but in a way, they already knew each other so well that they’re basically already family. It’s exactly what I was shooting for, and I’m glad that it seemed to come out that way for readers and for my own self-analysis. 

I am also particularly proud of Morgan’s voice in this story. Peter and Harley, both being teenagers, were a little more natural, but Morgan, as a four-year-old, took some tweaking to perfect, but in the end, I really felt like I could hear the four-year-old innocence and hope and love and I felt like it lined up so well with everything else in the story as she comes to terms with everything that happened and works through it in the only way she can--with help. 

Most of the references/callbacks in this one are super obvious, but there are a couple that are more subtle. There’s a small reference to that “you’re a mechanic, why don’t you just build something?” scene in IM3 where Harley gets Tony out of a panic attack, and to Harley’s dad leaving him. There’s also a reference to Peter’s uncle dying when he mentions that he’s “been through it before”. I also included a little bit of subtlety in reference to the fact that Pepper never actually changed her name to Stark, canonically, and added the emotional element of it in the epilogue. 

Each of the objects/memories that the three kids hold close has a lot of symbolism and intent behind them, and they fit in with the chapter titles. In “Every Picture Tells a Story”, Peter’s memories are in pictures because of the picture of him and Tony in Endgame that made Tony invent time travel (it totally made him invent time travel don’t even try to fight me on it). It represents that timeline of events where Tony really truly had a kid with him that he could love and cherish and who loved and cherished him back, but in a way that never needed words--just actions and photographs. In “Reminders of How it Used to Be”, Harley’s memories are in his phone through text messages, because he and Tony always connected technologically, even from a distance. They initially bonded over fixing the Iron Man suit, and the idea that Tony continued to upgrade Harley’s tech into his later years fits really well into their relationship. Even though they were far away, they learned how to express how much they cared for each other through words and objects. Lastly, in “No Hugs are as Warm as Yours” Morgan’s memories are in a recording of her Dad, because Morgan was the one that Tony truly got his time with--the one that was truly his to cherish and hold that he would never let go of. After Peter, and with Harley’s distance, Morgan was the one that Tony was determined to love with everything he had, and in doing this, he gave her a piece of him every day, and she could always hold him close to her heart and have him do all the special things with her that only he could do. The recording of him, that’s small enough to clutch to her, but big enough emotionally to represent everything her father did for her, and shows a tiny part of something that only her dad does--a lullaby her mom doesn’t sing, and a lullaby he’s never sung to anyone else--is a great representation of the piece of his soul that Tony gave to his daughter, just by being her dad. Maybe I tried to read too much into all of that, but I thought those subtle little representations were really crucial to this story. 

Another thing I love that I tried to break down is that everyone had a different name for Morgan. As the precious little one who just lost her dad, she’s kind of the center of this story, in a sense. Harley and Peter bond over helping her through her nightmare, and that brings the three of them closer. Morgan makes Peter and Harley smile in the dark times, and they do the same for her. Morgan had the most to lose from this, because Tony was, theoretically, the only one she had, but the message of the story winds up being that he wasn’t, because she has all of these other people in her family too. Because of that, there’s a nice subtlety that I had where everyone has a different nickname for her, because everyone contributes to her story and her life in a different way. Pepper’s nicknames/terms of endearment for her are sweetheart and little miss; however, “little miss” is one that Tony used to use, so Pepper only started using it after Tony died (so...in this story). Tony’s other nickname for her, canonically, is Morguna. Then, Peter’s nickname for her is Morgs, and Harley’s nickname for her is Mo. Most of those only really appear once, but it’s a cute little characterization thing that I worked hard to include. 

Lastly, another method of symbolism in the chapter titles is their lengths and, again, parallelism. I already talked about the second, third, and fourth chapter titles, all of which are a little shorter and represent the different object symbols for the kids and their connection to Tony, but I also added some symbolism and parallelism with the first and last chapter titles. Both of those titles, because those chapters have the perspectives of all three children, are longer and include parenthetical statements. Additionally, the first chapter title represents a lot more distance: “It’s Hard to Say Goodbye (To What You Want Forever”. This ties in not only to the fact that Tony’s gone, but also to the fact that, in the first chapter, while all three kids’ perspectives are included, they’re separate and apart. But then the last chapter title, “I Can’t Solve All Your Problems (But I Promise You Won’t Face Them Alone), represents togetherness, which is exactly how that chapter winds up playing out--all three perspsecitves collide, and they wind up helping each other through the grief. Symbolic titles are always fun.

To An Amazing Big Brother

This one is filled with subtle references. Sam leaves ScoobyDoo on for Dean, referenced as a favorite of his several times canonically. Sam also mentions how Dean checks under the bed every night, which was supposed to connect to the scene where Sam tells Dean that his dad said the monsters under the bed weren’t real and Dean told him it’s because he already checked there. Dean’s grumpiness over the lack of bacon is based off of two scenes: the one where Dean’s mad that Sam won’t let him get bacon, and the one where Sam’s mad that Dean won’t buy veggie bacon. The fact that Dean keeps the journal close for the next twenty-eight years is a reference to that photo of Mary that he’s had since he was a kid that he brings with them everywhere. Dean mentioning that Sam had grown up so much in three years is supposed to reference the many times in the show that Dean mentions that he wished Sam could’ve been a kid longer. The candy bars and the Hot Wheel car as his birthday gifts represent how Sam gives him “fuel” for Dean and Baby as gifts in the Christmas episode, and the fact that Sam mentions that Uncle Bobby helped him with it is a reference to Bobby giving Sam the Samulet to give to John in the Christmas episode, which he eventually gives to Dean. Lastly, the birthday pie represents the many, many times Dean says he loves pie. So I guess that all ties into symbolism, references, and callbacks/clues for future scenes, but in any case, there are a lot of them. 

The other thing that comes into this is the symbolism of the photo album. The fact that it’s something Bobby put together shows how Bobby was always a true father for them (at least, in my opinion, but, I mean, come on, he was), and the fact that it takes place over several years and very rarely actually has Bobby in the photo just represents how much he got to watch them grow and how much he was there for them. On top of that, it represents Sam and Dean’s brotherly relationship for two reasons: first of all, it shows how they grew up together and basically never left each other’s side; second of all, the message Sam writes, “Thanks for always being there for me. I know I can always count on you.”, is a huge representation of everything Supernatural is and stands for when it comes to Sam and Dean’s relationship--they can always count on each other, no matter what. 

The Meaning of Christmas

There isn’t really that much in this one, but I did want to mention that I put a lot of research into making the locations as realistic as possible, so Ellen’s Stardust Diner and 7th Avenue are both real streets in NY popular for Christmas shows and Christmas lights, respectively. I don’t live in NY, so I don’t know how accurate any of that was, but I tried my best, and I feel like it worked. 

Training Session

This one doesn’t have anything too deep overall, but it does include a couple of Endgame references and one from Ant-Man. Morgan and Nat’s training with practicing punching was meant to loosely reference the Ant-Man training session between Hope and Scott--with the failed attempt, but slowly getting better. Harley and Clint training--with Clint adjusting Harley’s footing, Harley making it dead center, and Clint high-fiving him--were all references to Clint and his daughter shooting arrows in Endgame. Lastly, while this is pretty obviously an Endgame reference, Morgan does say “I (still) love you 3000”, and Tony says it back, so there is that. XD 

Wow! This was honestly kind of hard to break down, but also really fun! I’ve definitely gotten better at symbolism and references in recent months--most of these were a lot more recent, especially the ones with loads of commentary XD--but in general, I think my character development in pretty good, and I still try to incorporate as many things as I can, subtle or otherwise.

Apparently, Dousy hurt/comfort is the rage, so... that's cool, I suppose.

Most Popular Multichapter Fic: just a few weeks ago, I would have responded with something like, "multichap? Me? As if 😳😅" But now... well, I'm actually posting my first multi-chapter fic later today, so we'll see how that goes!!

Favourite Story You've Written So Far: oh, gosh, that's a really, really hard one!! I've really, really enjoyed almost everything I've written, so picking is going to be very tough cookies xD

For AoS, I think I'm going to go for take my hand, take my whole life too, which is one of the first few things I wrote, but still holds a very special place in my heart, because I felt that it was a fic I could really be proud of, you know? Plus, it made me feel ridiculously soft and shippy-happy throughout the writing process. Plus plus, it has an absolutely stunning banner created by the amazing @ughfitz, which still touches me a lot, because I'd never had such a beautiful banner made before and askjgddfshhdhh it's just perfect.

I'm also very partial to july second, the birthday fic I wrote for @doctorofaos - because Hunter's point of view, it turns out, is ridiculously fun to write, and I had an absolute ball. The whole arc - a surprise birthday party for Daisy, and some team bonding/family fluff - just really works for me, too.

Another one that has to go on this list is hold out your hand, 'cause friends will be friends, my DaisyMack Soulmates BroTP, because that one is my amazing wife @aleksandrachaev's favourite, and it melts my heart so much to hear how much she likes it. 💜

Then lastly, for Spideychelle, my favourite thing I've written is quintessential spideychelle, no contest - it's a Roommates AU and my birthday gift for @eowima, and all the bonding those two dorks do over Lucifer and fandom in general brings me endless delight.

My Aladdin AU, now when did you last let your heart decide, will also always hold a special place in my heart, because it's the first really long thing I wrote. I put a ton of effort into it, and, well, I still think it's kinda fab.

Fic You Were Nervous To Post: Aubrey, high-five! Because one of the things I was definitely the most freaked out for was that is good, my first-ever Quakerider fic and birthday gift for @acerobbiereyes. The response to that turned out to be overwhelmingly positive, though, and I have even made promises to venture into Quakerider-land again 🥰

I was also a little stressed for we love you, we love you, and we hope you love we too, which was my first-ever polyship fic - Fitzskimmons and cute notes for the fluff bingo - and something I also dedicated to the amazing @bobbimorseisbisexual. Also the formatting for this thing was HELL, and computers and I do not get along, so I was in cold sweats that it wouldn't work and fail on me completely... but, no, it worked, and the wonderful response to it too, very much melted my heart 🥺💖

How You Choose Your Titles: song lyrics. Almost always song lyrics. And if it's not song lyrics, it's a quote of some kind - it just works for me, and I actually find it fun to go hunt for something that works. Maybe I'm weird, but I actually do love it xD

Do You Outline? absolutely, yes - in fact, a great many of the things in my WIPs folder are solely outlines, or even just the beginnings of outlines. I find that outlines are a really good way to save your ideas if you don't have time to write them out properly, so you can come back months later and be all, "what the hell I'm actually so clever." (or, y'know, occasionally, "what the hell can the earth come swallow me up." But let's go with the cleverness 🤣👌)

In Progress:

... I think it's better that we don't talk about my WIPs folder, which, as most people who know anything about me can tell you, is an utter mess, and more than a little insane. (If you don't believe me, check it out here - I bet you do now, right?)

Out of that monstrosity, I'm currently working on numbers 20, 64, 192 and 174, which would be my Skimmons Hallmark Rom-Com, and fics for my three Secret Santas - Spideychelle, Fitzsimmons, and then one for the AoS Secret Santa whose pairing is, in delightfully SHIELD style, classified until the 24th of December.

Then in the very background, I'm also writing some Pipsy, Fitzsimmons and plat!Diper for the fluff bingo yes which I have still not finished I'm awful I know, and I'm going to make my lateness a liiiitle better by passing them of as gifts for my friends. I do love my friends very much, though, so that's more than fair I think 🥺💜

General Avengers Fic:

SHIELD High: Avengers AU: S.H.I.E.L.D. High is a place where those with special talents can hone their skills and make friends along the way. The Avengers are included in this student body and are frequently getting into trouble. Let's see if they can stay out of trouble just long enough to walk across the stage at the end of the year! Okay, so this first one is on fanfiction.net, and I’ve read it twice. It’s an Avengers high school au, and it’s the best one I’ve read. Most of the Avengers start out not knowing or not liking each other at first, but they all come together in the end, just like in the movie! There’s humor, mystery, romance- everything you need! It’s definitely not your typical high school au, and I love the mix of awkward teenager-ness and the mighty heroes we know. There’s no big baddie here- everyone’s just trying to graduate, and they have to pull some unorthodox moves to do it.

Spider-Man Fics:

arachnic decathlon: No one every really tells you what to do in the case of bus explosions, field trips, hostage situations, and identity reveals. Of course, the aftermath is ten times worse and, well, Peter just considers himself lucky that he doesn't have to figure that stuff out on his own. Okay so this is actually a series with two works, and it. is. amazing!! It’s a twist on the classic field trip trope where they never actually make it to Stark Industries- instead they get held hostage, and Peter has to reveal his identity to save his decathlon team. The second fic is all about the team coping with the trauma of their experience, and I love that the author wrote that!! I’ve read this one twice, too!

the L in Love stands for Loser: Another series rec! This is a series of 6 great Spideychelle fics about mutual pining, a first kiss, and what Michelle and Peter’s relationship looks like among the chaos of school and Spider-Man. There is no Endgame or Infinity war in this series! I’m really bad at explaining things, so here’s my favorite quote from the whole thing: “‘Peter,’ Michelle says without any decernable intonation. Oh no, this is bad. He's dead. “Do you remember what I said at lunch today?’ ‘Um, that you'd leave me for John Boyega in a hot second,’ he replies slowly. ‘Yes, and the other thing,’ she says. ‘That if I missed two decathlon meetings in a row you'd be very angry but ultimately forgive me,’ he offers. ‘Close,’ she replies. ‘Where are you? And if the answer is not on the way to the auditorium, maybe reconsider your answer.’ ‘Uh…’ A parked car gets thrown at his head and he swings away with seconds to spare. ‘Look, people are accusing me of favoritism,’ she says. ‘They're implying that I actually like you.’ ‘They might've gotten that impression from the fact that we made out for fifteen minutes at lunch on Monday,’ he offers.”

Miscommunications: Ever since Steve and Tony's spat (also known as the pissing contest that tore the Avengers apart) things have been a little strained. They all cope with it in their own ways. Rhodey tries not to have a heart attack every time Tony says something that causes him stress, Natasha and Tony eat Chinese food in Tony's workshop and don't talk about anything important, Clint ignores all the advice given to him by Neil-the-therapist, and Steve continues to choose his unstable, manic depressive friend over his other equally-unstable manic depressive friend. Enter, Peter Parker. (Who would've thought it would be miscommunications about Tony's non-biological kid that bring the team back together?) Okay, the first fic in this series is a great 5+1 fic where the Avengers are suspicious, Peter is an idiot cinnamon roll, and there is a surprise guest appearance of Nathaniel Clinasha, Vent Repair Man. It’s amazing and hilarious- the fourth chapter’s almost crack, but it’s not! The second fic is also fantastic, featuring MJ being a terrible therapist. There’s a healthy mix of hilariousness and seriousness (because being a superhero really messes with your mental health) and it’s a great read!!

research and disaster: There should have been nothing remarkable about two people in a busy cafeteria, but Becket takes in the familiar sight of curly hair, brown eyes, and a t-shirt with a science pun on it talking animatedly alongside Actual Anthony Edward Stark and promptly drops his lunch. He gapes for a solid second, seeing but not believing. It definitely doesn’t look like Mr. Stark is forcing the kid to leave, or firing him, or escorting him to security given the relaxed smiles on both of their faces. If anything, Becket thinks Mr. Stark looks rather proud. “So, uh, Mr. Stark definitely knows Roomba-Kid,” Becket says and discreetly tilts his head in the direction of the pair. “Oh my god,” Jess says. She almost sounds gleeful. “Oh my god, he’s not just some random kid. He’s Mr. Stark’s kid.” or: the interns at Stark Industries have some questions about Peter Parker. The answers aren’t quite what they expect. Okay, this fic is absolutely hilarious. It’s an outsider’s pov on Peter and Tony’s relationship, from the eyes of a Stark Industries intern, featuring singing roombas, unstickable sticky notes, and general confusion. Well worth a read! All of this author’s fics are great, actually- they wrote the academic decathlon fics and a few others that are worth checking out!

Okay there are so many great fanfics that I would love to rec...but unfortunately, I have absolutely none of them saved as I have been reading on incognito mode with no account, so these are just some I’ve thought of off the top of my head. I can definitely find more to recommend if anyone wants me to! Not just from this fandom, either, I’ve read fanfics for several others (Gravity Falls, PJO, Star Wars, others I can’t remember right now because it’s 2:34 am)

Alter Ego ch. 3 “Ipsum Invenies”

Spideychelle, Peter Parker x Reader, slow burn fic, Enhanced reader.

Ch. 2 “Organorum” Ch. 4 “Perficiendi”

“You’re not gonna believe this.” you look at your roomate and you can’t believe it yourself, she looks at you corncerned, but she follows when you start walking towards your room. The apartment is made of two rooms, one bathroom and a small kitchen that’s right by the living room, there’s not that much space, but the five steps it took to get to your room door gave you enough time to think about the next thing you’d say: “Okay, you know how almost all the Avengers and superheores these days got their “special abilities” out of some kind of experiment, right? Like, Captain America is strong and super hot because of the weird thing they did to him during World War II, and the same with Winter Soldier. And then Scarlett Witch also got experimented on and stuff, you follow?”

“Yes, but what are you on about? Are you gonna call your parents or not?”

“Okay, so when the uber dropped me, tied and naked in the middle of fucking nowhere, assuming I was dead, someone took me as a lab rat. I woke up in a lab-like bed and they injected some shit on me and it basically made me feel like they set my veins on fire. Then I fainted and they dropped me in a lake because they thought I was dead, but I wasn’t. And I got out of the water. I untied myself and got out of the lake. They did took me to the hospital and they did give me some IV stuff, but when I got there I didn’t have any bruises or wounds or scars from any encounter I faced. And this morning the thing with the lady happened and… Oh my god… I think I…”

“Did you become a superhuman?”

“I think so” You reply while you look at your hands, anxious to unveil exactly what your new abilities are. “Let’s see, we know I might heal fast, I have a danger sensor, the world looks a lot wider and all my senses are like 10 times more intense… how do I know what else is going on?”

“Do you wanna google Superheroes and their super powers?” your roomie asks while taking her phone out.

“Yes, brilliant idea!” You reply as you get closer to her to take a look at her phone screen. The results end up being written down in a list. You get rid of the obvious ones like Ironman, who doesn’t actually have powers, or Thor who is an actual God. Once you get to the enhanced people, the party begins, it’s a funny and interesting scene.

“So Captain Great Ass has over developed muscle tissue and brain, which means he’s like super strong and intelligent… What can you lift to test your strenght?” She says while looking around the room. “Lift the bed.”

“I’ve always been able to lift that.” You’re looking for something harder. “Let’s see if I can lift one of the cars outside!” you suggest while looking at the widow.

“Don’t you care about being seen? I mean, some super people like to keep their identity hidden.”

“Oh, c’mon! I might not even be able to lift it.” But you could, as if it was not heavier than your matress, you lifted the car and you placed it back down before losing your mind. Neither you or your roomie could believe what was going on.

And your day was spent like that until you came up with the definitive list of abilities you possess now. You realized you share a lot of powers with Spider-man: super strenght, adhesive fingertips, the danger sense that made you feel the lady was in risk was very similar to his spider sense and it’s the same that made all of your normal senses shoot up, but besides all that, you also have some hyper flexibility, a slight super speed, and some kind of mind control, but you didn’t get too far with that because it gave you and your roomie a terrible headache.

“Are you finally going to call your parents?” She asks as she hands you a pill for the headache, though it was already going away, you take the pill hoping it’d give you the will of facing your parents and telling them what happened to you, but frankly, it isn’t a thing you wanna talk about with anbody.

“I guess I have to, but I really don’t know what to say.” You put your head in your hands to hide the tears welling up in your eyes, you try to even your breathing to not break in front of her.

“Start by telling them you’re alive and fine. You’ll tell them the rest when you feel ready.” She puts her phone in front of you, you take it and dial your house land line number. It doesn’t take long until someone picks up and you hear your mother’s voice.

“Hello.” She says and immediately, the tears start falling down your eyes uncontrollably, you hadn’t realized just how much you needed to hear your mother’s voice.

“M-mom…” you sob out.

“(Y/N), my little girl, tell me it’s actually you, please.” She says and she’s crying too.

“Yes mom, it is me. I’m fine, I’m home now. I woke up in a hospital, but Sebastian helped me, I’m fine.”

“Oh, (Y/N)! My little girl! I’m so happy to hear you alive and fine. The police told us they were trying to find the body, said there was no chance for you to still be alive, but they were wrong, they were wrong in not trying to find the bastard that did this to you, but God sees everything and he’ll put them in their place. My little girl, I love you so much!”

“I love you too, mom… wh- what do you mean they’re not looking for the driver?”

“No, when we went to press the charges, they turned it around to us, they said a woman had no place being out so late, much less wearing short shorts and thin shirt, that maybe you were asking for it, they said you have a reputation in uni of dating around and they decided it was your fault you got what happened to you.” Your blood boils, not because they said all that about you, but becuase you’ve heard the same crap before, with every case of someone gone missing it was always because they were in the wrong path, they were drinking or doing drugs, they were women traveling by themselves, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or they were simply racially profiled. It was never the agressor’s fault, it was always the victim’s responsability. And your parents had to listen to all that bullshit, only because some people are too lazy to do their job.

After making sure that both your mother and father believe you that you’re okay and very much alive in your apartment, you hang up and got out of the place. Your roomate was probably off watching some movie in her room so she didn’t hear you come out. You walk as far as you can, you’re mad, but these new abilities give you a new hope, you might be able to do something with this. Not doing so would give that uber driver and many more perverts free passage to keep abusing inoccent people like you, but it’s not like you can just walk into his house and punch him with your brand new super strenght, because to start with, you don’t even know where he lives, plus you gotta protect yourself now, because what if you go around flaunting your new powers and the people that put them there find you? They’re not the kindest people judging by their modus operandi. Would they come to find you and finish what they started?

You get back home a little before midnight, you walk in peacefully, your roomate sitting in a chair in front of the only table of the apartment.

“Where were you? You can’t keep dissapearing like that, you don’t even have a phone and I really don’t wanna go through the same shit I did two weeks ago.”

“Believe me, I share the feeling more than anyone. I was walking… thinking. You can’t tell anyone about my powers, I have to go back to my normal life with the least amount of fuss posible. I have a plan to go after that bastard driver, but he can’t know it’s me… I need a suit… and to learn how to use all I’ve got.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?”

“I don’t want anyone to live through the shit show I had to live through, because it is a fucking hell, Lexi!”

“So what? You’re gonna dress up and go after criminals just like that? You’re crazy if you think I’m gonna allow that, you can’t put yourself at risk like that! You might be very strong and you might be able to stick to walls and all that shit, but you’re not bulletproof, you might get killed. What am I gonna tell your parents? I already had to tell them you might be dead once, I don’t want to tell them for sure that you are!”

“Lexi… I’m not gonna go find him today. I have to train or something. I don’t know how to fight and I don’t know how to control everything I can do, I’ve gotta get used to my new way of perceiving the world and I need a plan. And I might not be bulletproof, but I can make a suit that is, or that at least can put up a fight.”

“(Y/N) are you even listening to yourself? You want to go find some crazy dude that raped you, tortured you, assumed you were dead and dumped you in the middle of nowhere like garbage! You really wanna go after him?

“He didn’t assume I was dead, he did kill me in a way… and I want to avenge the part of me that died tied, naked and humiliated in the dirt, because aparently the justice system in this country won’t do it, you understand? My country didn’t give one single fuck about my wellbeing, to them I deserved to end up like that for going out at night in shorts!” You don’t know how or when you started crying, but the tears felt hot against your skin with uncontrolable sobs and memories you’d rather block from your mind. Lexi, your roomate hugs you and caresses your hair until you relax a little.

“If you have to do this, I’ll help you.”

“Thank you.”

Peter had made some progress in his research, had a few leads to follow, this was not the only case, there were some cases going all the way to Mexico with the same characteristics, and there was a full investigation that linked that to one of the most important mafias in the world, but nobody ever knows where they’re located, they have people all over the world, Peter can’t simply drop everything and follow some mafia all around the world, he’s in his senior year of high school, he’s graduating soon, he has MIT to worry about now, plus his relationship with MJ is going steady and they’re going to prom together. He can’t just walk away from all this to put himself at risk of being killed by a mafia so big that is all over the globe, but if he tells Mr. Stark he might end up taking his suit again.

Why not tell him anyway? He can come up with a good excuse as to why or how all this information ended in his hands, he’s a teenger in the 21st century, tech and information are one touch away, right?

“KAREN call Mr. Stark, would you?”

“Calling Tony Stark.” and just a few rings later, Tony answered the phone.

“What’s up, kid?”

“Hi Mr. Stark, I wanted to tell you about some stuff that I read and that I thought you might find interesting, I think it’s got something to do with the experiments.”

“How did you find that?”

“I was doing this essay for my Spanish class and this popped up. I wanted to show it to you in case you want to go do some research to Mexico or something, because I obviously can’t go because I have… homework.” this causes Mr. Stark to giggle, but he didn’t say anything, when the call ended Peter sent all his info, but he still couldn’t stop thinking about the whole matter, how it wouldn’t take long to reach other parts of america, they might be making their way to the south if they already reached mexico, he doesn’t want them to reach any other country. No one has to die anymore.
