Immortal Life
Hey guys, here to recommend a video game. This one was recced to me by....someone on here. Sorry I can't remember who it was, but it's been a solid month or so and that post wasn't tagged (cause I was complaining about another game.)
Immortal Life is a Steam game in early access currently. It's a farming sim set in a cultivation sect. Yeah, that's right, it's Stardew Valley but Xianxia!
There's my little farm (all photos in this post are from my game).
The premise is that you are restoring a cultivation sect that was destroyed in a tragedy. So in addition to farming to provide food and to sell for $, you are gathering resources to rebuild the sect building by building.
As it goes on, you are trying to attract lecturers to improve your cultivation and "level up" your skills.
As you can see, the art is really pretty, and when combined with incredibly soothing traditional music, it's so freaking relaxing.
The setting is equally aesthetic, with a variety of shops and NPCs. All dialogue is in Chinese with well done English subtitles. I've only found a couple of typos so far in the game.
In addition to standard farming, fishing (more Animal Crossing style than SDV), and dungeon crawling, there's also crafting with wood and bamboo, and a pretty fun cooking minigame.
The dungeon crawling is fun, with cultivation based ranged and spell attacks rather than simple sword slashing.
So far it's pretty well-developed. I've been playing a LOT of early access games in the last year and this one is pretty polished and has a lot of content already. (I haven't run into any end of content yet after 15 hours.) It's a lot more complete than say Coral Island is so far, for example.
Anyway, I'm having an absolute blast with this game. I recommend it to any fans of this genre of game, but it's ESPECIALLY nice to experience being in danmei fandom and having a lot of familiarity with the setting and cultural touchstones.
It's a Chinese-made game, so it's made for an audience who understand what cultivation is. It's not explained or dumbed down for an English audience. I don't know if it would be really confusing for someone totally unfamiliar with the Xianxia genre, but the game is clear enough in walking you through the actual game tasks.
I haven't gotten far enough to really be able to speak to how the relationships develop or any romance options. So far, just getting tiny bits of approval is a little bit of a chore. But that's how it goes.
So I think it's very worth checking out. Full price is $19.99, I got it in the recent Steam sale for a little less.

Since I just linked it from my main blog anyway, I guess this would be a good time to do a State Of The Union for the colony. I usually do some kind of summary a week or so into each colony, but never got around to it for this one.
The fine seaside orphanage of Robot's Ocean is fucking huge now.
We've got multiple nested layers of defensive walls, a world-class temple and rec room, three geothermal generators, a tidal generator, a solar generator, a full natural gas helixien system for heating and cooling, a greenhouse, a genetics lab with an extensive gene bank, space for 5-6 prisoners to live in comfort, and enough freezers to keep about a year of food on hand at all times. And an in-colony hot spring, most importantly.
The colony's currently worth is about $400k, which is $50k more than any of the previous ones have hit, so it probably isn't a coincidence that I've needed to burn two antigrain warheads on recent attacks. That growth has stagnated a bit, which is fortunate, because as combat goes we're about at our limits. On the upside, we now have something like seven combat owlbears, a Scyther, a Tunneler, a Tesseron, a Centipede Blaster on the way, and of course Yoshiko's pet thrumbo Chiyo.
On the other hand, after investing about $15k into building and upgrading Spencer only for it to die trying to get to its bedroom, we're pretty strapped for cash. And we need some, because the map is just about mined out, and all of these robots and endgame weapons require a lot of materials. Unfortunately the map being mined out also limits our options for producing trade goods. The current plan is to mass-produce... corsets. If you haven't played the game just trust me when I say that this is a sensible plan, but we'll need to do a lot of hunting to make it work.
Following the terrible Tactical Nukes In The Hospital incident, I've rearranged things a bit. The short version is that we've only got one outdoor orbital targeting beacon now, and it should steer most drop pod raids to a less terrible location. Will this help much if another group shows up with a dozen rocket launchers? Hell no. Eventually I'd like to set up one or two extra beacons as decoys.
The population is currently 8, which is just about the lowest it's been in years. These kinds of things happen when four colonists get blown up in one evening.
Yoshiko "Happy" Russell
is, of course, a forever-22 psychic cyborg vampire foxgirl who controls robots with her brain. (Her actual effective age is now 34, but the game doesn't care about that.) She's currently undertaking her Dark Slumber in her Chambyr of Bloode for the next day or two, as one must when they are a vampire.
She's good at fucking everything now. (And good at fucking too; she's got an implant for that.) Her lowest skill is Plants at a 9, or 'solid professional.' She's rated as Expert or better in Shooting, Melee, Construction, Animals, Crafting, Art, Medical, Social, and Intellectual. She has 827 kills, 34 mechanical implants, maxed psychic potential with 10 psychic abilities, and wields a sapient EMP sledgehammer named Nalorgargur. Thanks to being a vampire, the only way to permanently kill her is to destroy her brain. With so many implants, I think the only other ways to even incapacitate her in combat are with an EMP or by destroying her liver. In theory you could make her bleed out too, but she's effectively immune to that. (You should go for the brain thing anyway, because she has pretty good body armor under that parka, but still insists on wearing a beret instead of, like... a helmet.)
Truly she is... the ultimate lifeform.
Toby Lang
Man, this makes for some real mood whiplash. I mean, look at him. There isn't much to say about Lang.
He was found in the wreckage of a space battle a few years ago. He spends all of his time cooking, doing doctor stuff, or handling the colony's pet rabbits. He's no good in a fight. Yoshiko adopted him and he adores her as much as is physically possible; her opinion of him is 7/100.
Actually though, Lang does have one solid accomplishment under his belt. During the last Diabolus fight, all of the blood bags prisoners staged an escape. Everybody who was good in combat was off doing that, and Lang was the only person nearby. So, he grabbed a shotgun and did surprisingly well at controlling the situation. By which I mean blowing their brains out. Can't get any blood out of them like that, but it's better than having them set the base on fire on their way out.
Saburo Richards
Listen, I can't stress this enough. He was like this when I found him. Unlike everyone else, he's an Animusen, a natural foxboy by birth. What benefits does this give? Well, uh. Not any, really. He's fast in the cold and slow in the heat, which was nice before the climate's average temperature got bumped up by 18F.
Richards is still 12 and I'm really hoping he gets some fantastic growth at 13, because he isn't good at anything. For whatever reason, he apparently gets really abusive when he's in a bad mood, because every mental break he's had has been an insulting spree. So most of the colony has opinions of him like
In fact, Olga and Yoshiko are the only two who would even be sad if he died, I think. Yoshiko, of course, adores him.
Raymond "Raywolfen" Wolfen
... has to be the most colorful kid here, as a slug person who was raised by wolves and then crashed outside during a space battle. Don't let the sprite fool you; the game just doesn't know how to render how fucked up she looks. According to her genes, she's got the body of a slug, but covered in scales, with the face of a fox, slug-style eye stalks, and constantly secretes a foul-smelling substance that decomposes corpses. You'd think that being a hideous slug/fox amalgam who smells like rotting bodies would be horrible for her social life, and you'd mostly be right, but Yoshiko adores her. She didn't even adopt her or anything. This happened naturally.
Raywolfen's only really good at combat, but that's okay, because we desperately need that right now.
Ben "Bush" Nitsiza
... is another adopted son who recently turned 13. He's great at melee combat, and got two mechanoid kills while horribly sick with the flu last night. He's... decent at crafting, art, and research. We're working on it. He's not decent at social stuff, but he's the preacher anyway. For now, at least.
Bush actually gets along with everybody else pretty well, which is surprising for somebody with the traits of 'snob' and 'too smart.'
Cindy
... is a sapient mech (it/its) that has only been around for half a year, as part of Yoshiko's ongoing quest to find true love. (This isn't working out very well.) As a hunter-killer mech, Cindy's only really good at combat, and is incapable of... most other things. It's decent with animals and research though, and is slowly learning how to do medicine too.
Cindy is currently flirting with Yoshiko about once every few days, which would be cute if it would just wait until Yoshiko considered it more than a passing acquaintance. It'll work out some day though. I'm sure of it.
Dae-up "Nerd" Kim
Is it fair for me to blame Nerd for the fact that he was chased here by pirates with rocket launchers? Probably not. But it still happened, and it got four people killed. And Nerd's a completely amoral kid who tortured small animals when he was little, so I'm not gonna pretend that I like him. I genetically modified him to be good at mining, so he could mine out the collapsed rocks that trapped Sora as he burned to death. Take some responsibility, you little prick.
Most of the colony likes Nerd, but he's really rooted in his intensely xenophobic ideology, so he hates almost everybody in return. The one person he actually likes is Yoshiko, and that's only because she's ridiculously pretty.
Nerd's actually pretty competent, unfortunately. He's great at mining, crafting, and medical. He's pretty decent at construction, and he'll pick up art fast if we find the time and resources for him to do much of it.
Olga Keuneke
... is 11 and a pretty recent arrival, so there isn't much to say about her. Unlike certain assholes, the trouble that she brought with her was a machine that warmed up our Siberian-ass climate, so I already like her. She's got a huge passion for animals, but she isn't learning much about it because she's not skilled enough to work with our animals. You can't start out by training predatory owl monsters that weigh half a ton.

soliciting video game recs! I am extremely picky with video games and that makes it really really hard to find games to play, so maybe you, my Gamer Followers, can point me towards stuff I might like if I list some of the things I enjoyed? stuff I like/dislike under the cut. super open to Indies/short games!!!
platforms I have: switch, android, hacked 3DS, and a very Mid-tier PC. I greatly prefer controller over mouse+keyboard! not opposed to emulation
genres I've enjoyed: puzzle, sandbox, dating/friendship Sims, a lot of random simulator types, factory management/resource management, games where you need 3 different wikis to understand, farming, turn based combat, numbers-go-up/clickers, silly gimmick games, and more-art-than-gameplay types. I'm a casual who's only in it for cute pixels and numbers go up. lots of love for peaceful/accessibility settings!!
games I've generally enjoyed: portal/portal 2, Minecraft, hypnospace outlaw, Factorio, animal crossing, Littlewood, stardew valley, cookie clicker, Minecraft, idle Skilling, the Stanley Parable/tspude, turnip boy commits tax fraud, Minecraft, kill it with fire, and puzzles like sudoku/nonogram/etc.
what I know I don't like (not a hard No list): lots of combat especially if I need reflexes for it, 3rd person shooters, most shooters tbh, survival crafts that are more survival than crafting, online co-op, bullet hell, straight up VNs unless they're really really really good
I'm REALLY into artsy games that are like... less about the game and more about Something yanno?

This post is a designated rest stop.
Pause for a moment and take stock of yourself. It’s been a stressful, scary time with no sign of the stress ending. Take a breath.
How are you physically?
Have you eaten recently? Have you drunk water? Have you taken your meds? What’s one thing you can do right now to make yourself more comfortable? Take care of your body and don’t worry that you’re resting more than you ‘should’. Mental stress does physical damage.
How are you mentally?
How often are you checking for updates? Are you just refreshing social media over and over? Do you have anyone you can reach out to and talk about your worries? Do you have a space where you can escape to talk about other topics? This is a traumatizing time. Remember to treat yourself gently, and that you’re not alone.
Do you need help?
Trans Lifeline - Masterlist of Crisis Hotlines (US-centric, sorry) - Find a Mutual Aid Network Near You
Do you need a distraction?
5 Years of DIY Crafts
Learn Bookbinding from scratch
Free Plushie and Accessory Patterns
Guided Meditation from the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Chill, calming anime:
Mushishi - Barakamon - Kino’s Journey (2003) - Tamako Market - Flying Witch - Somali and the Forest Spirit - Girls’ Last Tour - Yuru Camp - Sound of the Sky
Fun, silly anime:
Nichijou - Monthly Girl’s Nozaki-kun - My Love Story!! - Saint Young Men - Sweetness and Lightning - Hinamatsuri - Princess Jellyfish - Kaguya-Sama: Love is War
Just want a good cathartic cry?
Children who Chase Lost Voices - A Silent Voice - Orange - Wolf Children - A Place Further Than The Universe
(All these anime are, with only minor or occasional exception, free of fanservice, homophobia, and transphobic caricature.)
It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. There’s so much hate and sadness in the world, and it’s easy to feel like you can’t do anything in the face of it. You aren’t abandoning anyone by taking some time for yourself. Reach out to your support system and take the next little while a step at a time if you have to.
#my posts#self care#i cant do much HOWEVER#my skills are crafting and anime recs#and im gonna put them to good use#disclaimer im only halfway through kinos journey#but its so good already#also i didnt add any anime i havent seen#ive heard violet evergarden and irresponsible captain tylor are great#but couldnt personally suggest them#50#100

Sorry for nose bleeding all over the place but I’m such a huge fan of your writing!
Nosebleed Club Asks: lace dress, wes anderson, pink lip gloss, and cherubim
Thanks in advance for any of your answers! Sending lots of love and hugs your way <3
gasp!!!!! hi eggqty!!!!! thank you so much for coming into my asks and i am mELTING you're so sweet!!! :''''''''''))))))
Lace Dress: Some of your favorite fashion concepts?
okay i really love (ripped) mom jeans, so basically Big Pants Little Shirt type outfits. plus raggedy converse, and i am literally always wearing a (backwards) hat. but also short little dresses are so cute?? oh! so i have so many stupidly Nerdy t-shirts (He-man, OG voltron, gremlins, cartoon ones) bc i love cool t-shirts. they're just so neat HAHAHA
Wes Anderson: Favorite films?
ok so i don't actually like watching movies that much, but these are my all time favorites that i could sit down and watch at anytime:
back to the future I
the old guard
pride & prejudice (with Keira Knightly)
spiderman: into the spiderverse
the matrix I
soul
school of rock
the mighty ducks
iron jawed angels
and most comedy specials on netflix (hmu if u want any recs!)
Pink lip gloss: What makes you feel confident?
when i look good. if i like how my hair's looking, and my outfit is the bomb dot com then i definitely am feeling like The Shit.
but also, praise! in the sense of doing an activity (for example: writing). if lots of people were to tell me "hey! i like this a lot when you do it!" or anything along the lines, my ego is going to grow tremendously LOL and in turn my confidence with that craft.
Cherubim: How have you changed this year?
i've gotten a lot more tired and my in-person social skills have slowly receded. its gotten to the point where i don't like leaving my house for longer than i have to and i have permanent bag under my eyes LMAO
also, i think i've grown a lot more open-minded in all sense of the word. i try to understand everyone's point of view (even if i don't agree); ive come to terms that gender and sexuality are, in fact, Hard so meh its whatever; people are gonna like what they like and it doesn't bother me nor harm anyone so why bother them? that type of stuff :))))
but i would say i'm a lot happier. fandom life is so much fun and without it idk what i would have done this past year HAHAHAHA
i've really let myself enjoy things that i like without feeling weird or guilty about it. like writing fanfiction, loving anime and posting about it, being able to look at art (both classic and modern) and just be able to express my love for it in this digital space where people won't judge. it's honestly been so freeing. and because of it i've developed a "fuck you i like what i like" kind of attitude both online and offline. so thats always fun LMAO
thank you so much for askin eggqty!!! <333333 am sending all the love your way!
come bleed on me

rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (or so) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works.
I was tagged by @rainbowv thank you so much (i love your edits btw in case you don’t know yet just saying it again) this year has been fun editing-wise because i used to mainly gif tv shows and so I started giffing things like mvs and I got to discover many new techniques and challenge myself! I wish I could’ve done more drama gifs or aesthetic sets but that’s a goal for next year 😊 here’s my selection (no real order):
1) fave shots of jiu in mvs: i started this dreamcatcher serie for handong and I’m so glad i decided to do it for all the members as it really made me get deeper into the fandom and improve my giffing skills. this is my fave of them all, I didn’t plan on making it colour themed but purple just fitted her so well! and so that’s my first (and only so far but hopefully not last) edit based on a colour theme, which i found really fun to make and it’s a nice challenge to make different mvs/colouring/lighting match!
2) faceless shots in flower fantasy mv : that video was so pretty and it was so nice to focus on the aesthetic of it and try to showcase it nicely and I like how this sets highlights n.flying through their instruments
3) various animated genres in it’s okay to not be okay: this drama has been a highlight for me this year and the way it was directed and used mutliple genres of storytelling across the plotlines was so interesting and so I’m glad I found the motivation to gif it even if at the time I wasn’t really in the mood, i loved making the compilation of moments and seeing so many people in the tags saying that this was one of their favourite aspect of the show made it even more special!
4) every outfit in “boca” mv: that gifset is kind of crazy, it wasn’t supposed to include every outfits at first but then I thought “why make a choice when I could instead struggle to fit all 24 of them in one set?” so it was challenging but all the more satisfying when it came out looking great! loved the styling in this mv and I’m glad I could showcase it nicely
5) yseult - new opera: i don’t gif a lot of stuffs outside of tv shows, dramas and kpop so this was a bit out of my comfort zone but she’s one of my favourite artist at the moment and that video was so beautiful, I loved working on it even if giffing mainly b&w shots can be a bit challenging and I wasn’t sure about including the coloured ones at the end but I’m glad I did. i know most people reblogged it for the aesthetic but I hope they also went to check her songs!
6) taeyong master of his craft: made this for @tytrack who inspired me to start using vapoursynth and get back into giffing and so that’s my first gifset with it! i probably would do it a bit differently today but i really enjoyed discovering this tool and using it to highlight taeyong’s abilities and showcasing that side of him, this set was my first compilation set this year and it’s something I’ve really enjoyed doing! and in general doing stuffs for other people has been a huge motivation this year I love it it’s so fun
bonus: i’ve also enjoyed making some sillier edits to have fun and this nct/parks and rec one and this jiu one are some of my faves
I really have no idea who’s done this or not so apologies if you’ve been tagged before or have done this before, but even if you don’t do it, this is to say I really enjoy your work and seeing you on my dash 💜 @tytrack @lkeonhee @chawoongs @7nsomnia @anna-something @kdongyoung @nctpinks @melonatures @moonbinning @nfly5 @grayson-richard @myunghjun
#just realised it says 5 or so and not 5 or more but hey this is self-love you can't contain that#tagged#my edits

Do you by chance have a list of da mods you use?
I don’t offhand but I can throw one together!
DA:O
For DAO I do a lot of my own stuff (esp morphs and items) using the Dragon Age Toolset. If I took the time I could probably share my custom morphs but I am just a lazy Thembo. The CharGenMorph Compiler isn’t technically a mod? But it makes things a lot easier lmao, and it works for DA2 as well. I’ve also recently reinstalled my DAO so I might not have all my usual mods (my mod download folder I have at least 44 mods there, but I’m not using all of them) but currently in my mod folder is:
Make Console Commands Visible
Ultimate DA:O Fixpack
AddItem Script
Madd Gift Guide
Universal Dye Kit
Camp Storage Chest
No Helmets
DAI Vallaslin
45 Real Skin Tones
Cousland Family Morphs
Practical Morrigan Robe
Elf Ears
Pineappletree’s Vibrant Colors
Equal Love
Character Creator Scars
Zev Ring
Freckled Skin Texture
Polygamey
DAI Hair (I use a lot of the hair mods from there)
Platinum Blonde
Extra Dog Slot
DA2
I think these are the mods I use? Honestly my mod folders are messes lmao.
Valuable Junk
Fenris Spring Cleaning
WyldTats
Chargen Revamp
WADDI
Repeatable Romance Scenes
Playable Elves -- Note: there are minor animation issues, and all dialogue in-game still refers to Hawke as a human/shem. The only changes are physical changes.
Backpack Mod
Isabela ASAP
Faster Leveling
Reimagining (HD textures)
Original Brown Merrill
Strong Skin Colors
Darker Skinned Isabela
Skip the Intro
Never Hostile Dalish
Unique Facial Textures for Companions
Ferelden Cuts
Natural Skin
Natural Hair
Super Lots of Skill Upgrades
Black Hair Is Black
Isabela’s Curly Hair
Darker Fenris
Evolving Companion Armor
Diversified Armor for All
DAI
I personally prefer using DAToolSuite over Frosty so my mods aren’t many Frosty Mods. I also frequently use CheatEngine but that’s less a mod and more directly editing game data while playing.
Hold Jump Fly
Open All Halla Doors
Black Hair for Everyone
Brown Briala
Actually Alistair
The Chasind Shapeshifter
DA2 Cass
Freckle Fantasy
Infinite Fade Step
Party At the Winter Palace
No Perk Requirements
KISS Skintones
Fall Damage Nullified
Black Sclera
Horns of the Plenty
Qunari Hair Pack
Qunari Braid
More Loot
Kieta’s New Vitar
No Dirt Buildup
Redcliffe Crafting Supply
Finali Skin Pack
Dreads of the Wolf
Enhanced Inquisitor Colors
Winter Palace Formal Attire Retexture
Probably aren’t all the mods I use across the games, but at least there’s a good chunk of them! Dalishious has a bunch of good mod recs here as well, especially since I’m sure I missed a few that I use lmao
#Eldritch IT Speaks#Eldritch IT Answers#The Eldritch Dragon Age#I was just messing around in the DAToolset again 2day and god I miss doing stuff with it#gotta finish up my custom morphs#iridescentspacewhale

so i did a reading challenge this year and i wanna talk about what i read
transcription under the cut
i did Popsugar 2019 and wanna talk about what i read: Book Reccs and Anti-Reccs
1.) Becoming a Movie in 2019: Umbrella Academy (vol 1) by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba
4/5. A fascinating take on superpowers, dysfunctional families, and the apocalypse. Can get pretty gory, confusing here and there and you have to pay close attention to panels for lore, but overall an entertaining romp.
2.) Makes you Feel Nostalgic: Circles in the Stream by Rachel Roberts
4/5. Middle grade novel about the magic of music, belief, and of course, friendship. Definitely written for kids, and has some unfortunately clumsy Native rep, but overall an absolute joy to dive into once again.
3.) Written by a Musician: Umbrella Academy (vol 2) by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba
4/5. Ramps up the confusion to ridiculous degrees with some absolutely bonkers, unexplained arcs, but still fun to watch this dysfunctional family do its dysfunctional thing.
4.) You Think Should be Turned into a movie: All That Glitters by Rachel Roberts
4/5. Continuation of Circles in the Stream, but with more unicorns, more rainbows, and more fae, which makes it automatically even better than the first.
5.) With At Least 1 Mil. Ratings on Goodreads: 1984 by George Orwell
1/5. I understand why it's important and all but wasn't prepared for some of the more graphic scenes and the overall hopelessness of the message. Would not recommend or read again.
6.) W/ a Plant in the title or cover: The secret of Dreadwillow carse by Brian farrey
5/5. A fantasy world where everyone is always happy, save for one girl and the princess, who set out to solve the mystery of their kingdom. Poignant and great for kids and adults.
7.) Reread of a favorite: Cry of the Wolf by Rachel Roberts
4/5. Yet another installment in the Avalon: Web of Magic series, which clearly I am obsessed with. Please just read them.
8.) About a Hobby: Welcome to the Writer's Life by Paulette Perhach
5/5. A welcome kick in the pants, chock full of great advice told without condescension, and full of hope and inspiration for writers both new and old.
9.) Meant to read in 2018: The Poet x by Elizabeth Acevedo
4/5. Absolutely beautiful coming of age novel told in verse. Do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook version.
10.) w/ "pop," "sugar," or "challenge" in the title: Black Sugar by Miguel Bonnefoy
2/5. I think maybe I just don't understand this genre. Or maybe the translation was weird. I was confused.
11.) w/ An Item of Clothing or Accessory on the cover: Our dreams at Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani
4/5. It had a lot more slurs/homophobia than I was prepared for, but otherwise is a very touching, relatable collection of queer characters living in a heteronormative world.
12.) Inspired by Mythology or Folklore: Ravenous by MarcyKate Connolly
3/5. A girl goes on an impossible quest to save her brother from a child-eating witch. Really wanted to like it more because I loved the first one, Monstrous, but it dragged a little.
13.) Published Posthumously: The Islands of Chaldea by Diana Wynne Jones
3/5. I adore Diana Wynne Jones, but this one was missing some of the magic of her other books. Not sure if it was because it had to be finished by someone else, or if I just grew out of her stories.
14.) Set in Space: Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
4/5. Powerfully written story of a girl straddling tradition and innovation, who wields power through mathematical magic, surviving on a spaceship alone with a dangerous alien occupation after everyone else has been killed.
15.) By 2 Female Authors: Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
2/5. Ostensibly a story about a revenge pact in a small island town, but leaves far too many dangling threads to attempt alluring you to the sequel.
16.) W/ A Title containing "salty," "bitter," "Sweet," or "Spicy": The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith
3/5. It's okay but I literally just never know what anyone means at any time. Are they being reticent on purpose or do i just not understand communication
17.) Set in scandinavia: Vinland Saga by Makoto Yukimura
2/5. Technically and historically accurate and well made, but the story itself is not my cup of tea. Very gory.
18.) Takes Place in a Single Day: Long WAy Down by Jason Reynolds
4/5. A boy goes to avenge his murdered brother, but ghostly passengers join him on the elevator ride down. Stunning and powerful character-driven analysis.
19.) Debut Novel: Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
4/5. Charming and then surprisingly heart-breaking comic about Nimona, a shapeshifter who wants to become a villain's minion. Really love the villain/hero dynamic going on in the background, along with the dysfunctional found family.
20.) Published in 2019: The Book of Pride by Mason Funk
4/5. A collection of interviews with the movers, shakers, and pioneers of the queer and LGBTQ+ community. An absolutely essential work for community members and allies alike.
21.) Featuring an extinct/imaginary creature: Phoebe and her Unicorn by Dana Simpson
4/5. Incredibly charming, Calvin and Hobbes-esque collection of comics featuring the adventures of Phoebe and her unicorn best friend.
22.) Recced by a celebrity you admire: The Emerald Circus by Jane Yolen
2/5. Recced by my fave author Brandon Sanderson. An unfortunately disappointing anthology proving that any story can be made uninteresting by telling the wrong section of it.
23.) With "Love" in the Title: Book Love by Debbie Tung
4/5. One of those relatable webcomics, only this one I felt super hard almost the entire time. Books are awesome and libraries rule.
24.) Featuring an amateur detective: Nancy Drew: Palace of Wisdom by Kelly Thompson
4/5. REALLY love this modern take on Nancy Drew, coming back home to her roots to solve a brand new mystery. Diverse cast and lovely artwork, though definitely more adult.
25.) About a family: Amulet by Kabu Kibuishi
4/5. Excellent, top tier graphic novel about a sister and brother who have to go rescue their mother with a mysterious magic stone. LOVE that the mom gets to be involved in the adventure for once.
26.) by an author from asia, Africa, or s. America: Girls' Last tour by Tsukumizu
4/5. Somehow both light-hearted and melancholy. Two girls travel about an empty, post-apocalyptic world, and muse about life and their next meal.
27.) w/ a Zodiac or astrology term in title: Drawing down the moon by margot adler
3/5. A good starting place for anyone interested in the Neo Pagan movement, but didn't really give me what I was personally looking for.
28.) you see someone reading in a tv show or movie: The Promised NEverland by Kaiu Shirai
4/5. I don't watch TV or movies where people read books so i think reading an adaptation of a TV series after watching the series counts. Anyway it was good but beware racist caricatures
29.) A retelling of a classic: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy by Rey Terciero
5/5. We can stop the Little Women reboots and retellings now, this is the only one we need. In fact, we can toss out the original too, this is the only one necessary.
30.) w/ a question in the title: So I'm a spider, so what? by Asahiro Kakashi
4/5. Cute art despite the subject matter, and a surprisingly enthralling take on the isekai genre. Love the doubling down on the video game skills.
31.) Set in a college or university campus: Moonstruck (vol 2) by Grace Ellis
2/5. An incredibly cute, beautiful, and fascinating world of modern magic and creatures, but unfortunately falls apart at the plot and pacing.
32.) About someone with a superpower: Moonstruck (vol 1) by Grace Ellis
4/5. Though nearly as messy plot-wise as its sequel, the first volume is overwhelmingly charming in a way that overpowers the more confusing plot elements.
33.) told from multiple povs: The Long way to a Small, Angry Planet by becky Chambers
4/5. Told almost in a serial format, like watching a miniseries, a group of found-family spaceship crew members make the long journey to their biggest job ever.
34.) Includes a wedding: We Set the dark on fire by Tehlor kay mejia
4/5. Timely and poignant, a girl tumbles into both love and resistance after becoming one of two wives to one of the most powerful men in the country.
35.) by an author w/ alliterative name: The only harmless great Thing by brooke bolander
3/5. Much deeper than I can currently comprehend. Beautifully written, but difficult to parse.
36.) A ghost story: Her body and other parties by Carmen Maria Machado
4/5. It counts because one of the stories in it has ghosts. A sometimes difficult collection of surrealist, feminist, queer short stories.
37.) W/ a 2 word title: Good omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
4/5. Charming, touching, and comical, probably the best take on the apocalypse to date. Also excellent ruminations on religion and purpose.
38.) based on a true story: The faithful Spy by John Hendrix
4/5. Brilliantly crafted graphic biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and his assistance in fighting back against Nazi Germany.
39.) Revolving around a puzzle or game: the Crossover by Kwame alexander
4/5. The verse didn't always hit right with me, but the story is a sweet, melancholy one about family, loss, and moving on.
40.) previous popsugar prompt (animal in title): The last unicorn by peter s. Beagle
5/5. Absolutely one of my all-time favorite books, it manages to perfectly combine anachronism and comedy with lyricism, melancholy, and ethereal beauty.
41.) Cli-fi: Tokyo Mew Mew by Mia ikumi and Reiko Yoshida
4/5. Shut up it counts
42.) Choose-your-own-adventure: My Lady's choosing by Kitty curran
3/5. Cute in concept, a bit underwhelming in execution. Honestly, just play an otome.
43.) "Own Voices": Home by Nnedi Okorafor
3/5. The storytelling style was definitely not my style; while the first book was slow, too, it felt more purposeful. I found my attention wandering during this installment.
44.) During the season it's set in: Pumpkinheads by rainbow rowell
3/5. Cute art, but precious little substance. The concept simply wasn't for me in the first place.
45.) LITRPG: My next life as a villainess: All routes lead to doom! by Hidaka nami
5/5. An absolute insta-fave! Charming art, endearing characters, an incredible premise, and so much sweet wholesome fluff it'll give you cavities.
46.) No chapters: The field guide to dumb birds of north america by matt kracht
3/5. It started out super strong, but the joke started to wear thin at a little past the halfway point.
47.) 2 books with the same title: Unfollow by Megan Phelps-Roger
4/5. A brave and enduring personal story of growing up in and eventually leaving the Westboro Baptist Church. Really called to me to act with grace and kindness even more in the future.
48.) 2 books with the same title: unfollow by rob williams and michael dowling
1/5. How many times do you think we can make Battle Royale again before someone notices
49.) That has inspired a common phrase or idiom: THe Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
4/5. Definitely good and deserves it's praise as something that pretty much revolutionized and created an entire demographic of literature.
50.) Set in an abbey, cloister, Monastery, convent, or vicarage: Murder at the vicarage by agatha christie
3/5. I just cannot. physically keep up with all of these characters or find the energy to read between the lines.
ok that's all i got, what did y'all read and like this year? (oh god it’s gonna be 2020)

Stardew Valley Mod Rec List
Since I’ve been playing modded Stardew Valley for a while I decided to make a list of some of my favorite mods! I’ll break them down into two categories: Cheaty and Not Cheaty. Only slightly cheaty mods will be in italics because I can’t figure out how to do the different colors thing on my computer. They are in order of most recently updated, not preference.
Not Cheaty
UI Info Suite - This was designed to give you info without actually giving you an advantage. So you can see how long crops have before being harvested, your current XP, things like that. It also does the same thing as Better Ranching, I just prefer the look of that one better.
Lookup Anything - An ingame wiki! My favorite part of this mod is that not only does it tell you what gifts people like, but also if you have any.
Free Dusty - Let’s Alex’s dog Dusty roam around town, or even your farm if that’s who you marry.
Better Artisan Good Icons - Changes the icons of artisan goods to reflect the crop they were made with.
CJB Show Item Sell Price - An inventory tooltip that shows how much an item (or stack) can be sold for.
BetterCrafting - Organizes the crafting menu so it isn’t so cluttered.
Hobbit Hole for Content Patcher - Turns your cabin(s) into a Hobbit Hole.
Unlimited Players - Have as many farmhands as you want! I’m saying this is not cheaty because you still share resources.
Cheaty
Walk Through Trellis - Pretty self-explanatory; lets you walk through crops with a trellis (such as hops, green beans) as if they didn’t have one.
Stack Everything - Again, pretty self-explanatory. Everything can be stacked up to 999 items.
Self Service - As long as you can get into the building you can buy stuff from shops, even if the owner isn’t behind the counter.
NPC Map Locations - Shows where villagers are on your map!
Better Ranching - Shows icons above animals heads if they can be petted for harvested from. I’m only putting it under cheaty because it also prevents failed harvesting attempts.
Price Drops - As you build your friendship with shopkeepers they give you discounts on their products.
Level Extender - Changes the level cap of skills from 10 to 100.
TillableGround - Make any tile tillable! This can be super cheaty or only slightly depending on how you use it. I only do for those random areas outside that keep me from using a full 3x3 grid.
Safe Lightning - Lightning now only hits lightning rods.
Rented Tools - Let’s you rent the basic version of a tool while yours is upgrading so you can still get stuff done.
Time Speed - Speed up, slow down, or freeze time! I usually double the vanilla time from 7 to 14 secs per 10-minute interval.

Do you have any recommendations for video games that are like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon? My favorite parts are farming, mining, upgrading stuff, and befriending NPCs. Thank you! :)
There isn’t a lot out there that does it better than Stardew Valley; I personally don’t care for it due to its poor internal documentation (it’s a pet peeve!), but in terms of its mechanics it’s pretty top notch.
So rather than give you a bunch of recs for games that are basically “Stardew Valley, except not quite as good”, I’m going to hit some current and upcoming titles that are in the same ballpark premise-wise, but take the specifics of the gameplay in a variety of different directions. Here we go!
Deiland - A cross between the farming-sim and planet-sim genres, this one casts you as the ruler of your own tiny world to shape as you see fit. Not a great deal of NPC interaction, since you’re your planet’s sole inhabitant, though folks from neighbouring planets will visit from time to time. Directly inspired by The Little Prince, as if it wasn’t obvious!
Kynseed (early access) - Similar on the surface to Stardew, this one’s Big Idea is that it’s generational: the passage of time is abstract rather than day-by-day, and your character will grow up, grow old, and eventually die – whereupon one of their children will inherit the mantle of player character. At the time of this writing, it’s only been out in early access for a week; I’m including it more as one to follow than one to buy.
Mineko’s Night Market (forthcoming) - An entry in the related “shop sim” genre (along with Recettear, below), this one has mining, crafting, befriending, and cats. Lots and lots and lots of cats. Gameplay-wise, its gimmick is that it’s very minigame-heavy, with even basic crafting requiring you to do a brief activity; this may be a plus or a minus depending on how you feel about minigames! Projected for early 2019.
My Time at Portia (early access) - Probably the closest entry on this list to Stardew Valley in terms of its gameplay loop, albeit with stronger traditional RPG elements, including a greater focus on exploration and combat. As noted, it’s an early access title, but there’s a free demo you can take for a spin before deciding whether you want to buy in.
Ooblets (forthcoming) - Basically a cross between Animal Crossing and Pokémon, plus light farming sim elements. No specific release date at the time of this posting, though it’s projected to be some time in early 2019.
Recettear - We’re going retro here: this one’s a mid-2000s Japanese indie game about a little girl who’s stuck managing an item shop after her father runs off to be an adventurer. No farming as such, but there’s crafting, NPC adventurers to befriend, and optional dungeon crawling. The main story (where you’re trying to pay off the shop’s debts) is essentially an extended tutorial; most of the content is only accessible during the free-play postgame.
Re:Legend (forthcoming) - Another farming-sim-meets-monster-taming game, this one’s rather less domestic than the preceding Ooblets; your pet monsters can be used as mounts in combat, as well as learning skills to assist in everyday tasks. Planned support for up to four-player co-op, which is novel for the genre. It’s in pre-alpha right now, so any release date is likely a long way off; you can creep the Kickstarter page for a bunch of gameplay videos and explanations of the mechanics.
Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles - This one pairs basic farming and foraging mechanics with Legend of Zelda style open world exploration. It’s 100% nonviolent; though a variety of monsters are present, they’re there for you to befriend, not fight. It tends to get mixed reviews because the main quest is kinda aimless, even for the genre, but if you just want to pick flowers and pet fluffy animals it’s a great choice.
If you’ve got time, you might also Google Witchbrook, the next big thing from Stardew Valley’s publisher. I’m not aware that it has a website yet, but there’s a fair bit of information floating around in developer interviews and such.

Every so often I throw this out to the universe. It’s this idea I have.
This is my manifesto. When I wrote it I had a place to lay my head. Then I spent five months homeless. And driving around living in my van I see too many other homeless. Too many others who could be helped by small intentional communities. And, especially in this day and time, having small communities where folx can congregate knowing they’ve all been tested and using their precautions outside... well, what do YOU think?
Original follows:
I’m trying to get this idea out in the universe in hopes it comes true. I have an idea I think is excellent but no way to make it come true. I rescued my first cat by myself when I was eleven. My current ESA was taken in and bottle fed with his sister (Sir Merlin Fuzzybutt and Dame Rose Elizabeth Tyler of Hogwarts- Maine Coon blood, he’s long hair brown tabby and she’s short hair orange tabby and white both bonded!). I’m now 56, stuck in bed with medical issues and I have this idea for a cat shelter that I think has merit.
I see a tree/tiny house Community with a main house with amenities as well as other... I’ll explain below if you can to keep reading this. But I thought, cats are good for people with PTSD and depression. Oh wait! Caring for companion animals also helps PTSD and depression. Who has a lot of that AND often need homes they can afford on a fixed income? Veterans.
Many of whom have crafting skills. Woodwork, fabric... heck even building tiny homes for sale. Place a store and vet office by the entrance. Put a tiny home behind the office and offer it free of charge, along with allowing them to use the clinic for their practice for free so long as they care for all of the animals on the property and X number of animals for the general public. Hold a Spay and Neuter clinic at least once a quarter.
I can see it in my head. A CatVetCommunity. I even talk about it on my Instagram with the hashtag #catvetcommunity. I see a main building with suites (2 rooms and a bathroom), kitchen, laundry, craft room, library, media room and computer room. The suites allow for more room for cats to live with a human to care for them. I would put our more experienced people there so we can swap off shifts. Tiny houses dot the lawn. Some of them have fences for the dogs of those who live in them. I see primarily veterans but others who need help could apply. Another building has a rec room and workshop. At the road by the clinic is a store with a suite for someone to live in that sells items the residents make as well as a room where people can have tea and meet cats to adopt. To one side of the property is a campground that has tiny houses for people who are handicapped or need electricity for medical devices as well as room for tenting and at least one field for events. The main building in this area has a large room with trestle tables, an industrial kitchen and a shower/toilet section where they are all individual (no worries about who’s in the bathroom, plus a changing table in each because men take care of children too!). This campground could be used for events put on by residents (historical weekend! Steampunk weekend! Family camping weekend!) as well as be rented out with preference given to nonprofits like the Girl Scouts and reenactment groups.
Right now I’m laying beside my ESA cat Sir Merlin Fuzzybutt whom was rescued with his sister when they were four weeks old. I have rescued many cats over the years. I want a place where the cats can be safe and loved as well as providing comfort to humans. I’d for a medical doctor to have a tiny house office on the same terms as the vet. I wonder if they could share X-ray machines?
I have thousands of books for the library and hundreds of patterns for the craft room. I don’t know how to do it but if we were a 501c then we could ask for donations from stores for things for the workshop and craft room. If there are residents with the ability we could also help fund the CatVetCommunity by making tiny houses or doing repair including ensuring handicapped accessibility.
I just don’t know how to make it a reality. I feel if we build one and show it can be successful then more will follow. They can be set for a specific population or be general but all would rescue animals.
Personally I’m disabled and do not have the energy to form a BOD to start such a place. I think this is an idea that has so many benefits for rescue cats. No cages! Well except for outdoor space when they’re not on a leash. I just need to get this out of my head and if it becomes real somewhere it will. Thanks for reading this far!

There’s a clear bend toward electronic music late in this cluster, but the group overall spans multiple genres, including rock, R&B, and even a cinematic pop behemoth. Now that we’re in the top twenty songs of the entire year, we’re discussing tracks that I may have listened to more than two hundreds times apiece.
20. Middle Kids – “Your Love” These three musicians from Sydney are still getting their careers off the ground, as they’ve only released an EP at this point; given the strength of the song “Your Love,” we should get used to hearing from them for years to come. The song is practically filled with hooks, and makes for an entirely delightful listen. Singer Hannah Joy, backed by her husband/bassist Tim Fitz and drummer Harry Day, effortlessly blends genres with her captivating vocals. Many critics deemed them as the intersection between independent rock and alternative country, but I hear more rock here than anything else. “Your Love” certainly has some pop structure, though with more genuine bite than you’d typically hear on the radio, and the production is inventive, building and crashing over and over throughout the track. Ultimately, there’s something timeless about the song’s sound, and could easily be a lost gem from the ‘80s even though it was released last spring.
19. Sammy Brue – “I’m Not Your Man” Sure, the vocal sounds young - even strained. Sammy Brue is clearly still coming into his voice, but not as an artist...as an actual adult. Brue was only 15 when he wrote and recorded his debut album, and this track specifically is a total jam. His sound may not be for everyone, but one of the producers on this debut album was John Paul White - better known as half of the brilliant alt-country duo The Civil Wars. There’s no question that he has the pedigree behind him, and his razor-sharp songwriting skills are unquestionable. His lyrics feel contemporary, but the sound is ripped from decades past. Clearly Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan served as inspirations, but comparisons to Nirvana would be appropriate, too. Brue is only going to get stronger from here, and continues to hone his folk/rock sound as he works with more musicians, including Justin Townes Earle and Lucinda Williams, just like a true prodigy.
18. Alice Merton – “No Roots” Alice Merton moved 24 times in only twelve years, leading to a feeling of complete isolation after bouncing around between Canada, the UK, Germany, and the States. The longest that I’ve ever held one address is about five years, and my tally stands at just over two dozen moves in 33 years, so it should come as no surprise that I deeply relate to this song. Merton swears that she had no idea it would become as popular as it did, landing her at the top of the charts for alternative rock; she’s the first solo female artist to top said chart since Lorde in 2014. There’s an outstanding blend of genres here, with some funk percolating underneath the snarling bassline and the electronic-tinged breakdown in the latter third of the track. One of the best aspects of the song, though, is the message; most people have a distinct place to imagine when thinking of the concept of ‘home.’ What’s clear to listeners here is that Merton lacks that experience, and that her perception of home is abstract at best when most can easily conjure that image. For someone who shares that experience, I couldn’t be happier to sing along every time.
17. Carly Rae Jepsen – “Cut to the Feeling” There’s really no other way around it: Carly Rae Jepsen has quickly skyrocketed to the top of the list for pop stars who can consistently churn out high quality singles. Part of the reason for her success, besides her obsession with 80’s-style synths, is that she refuses to lean into the darker side of pop that we’ve witnessed in recent years. Jepsen isn’t concerned with mocking ex-boyfriends, frenemies, or rivals; her music centers around effervescent joie de vivre more than most of her contemporaries. Essentially, her main goal is the distill the concept of euphoria into three or four minutes of blissful melodies. The first thirty seconds of the track are unlike most on the radio right now, starting with synth that sounds bizarrely similar to the opening notes of Madonna’s “Lucky Star.” Any comparisons stop there, though, as the tightly measured handclap beat works perfectly with Jepsen’s syncopated vocals. Nearly every review comments on how it was cut from her last full album, E•MO•TION, because it felt too ‘cinematic;’ my only regret is that it was wasted on a film as forgettable as Ballerina/Leap!, an animated dance movie for children that had various names based on the country where it was released. This is a song that bottles sunshine, and should have been a juggernaut for Jepsen. Luckily for fans, her next studio album is due in early 2018.
16. George Taylor – “I Hear Your Song, Sweetness” UK-based singer/songwriter George Taylor came out of nowhere in 2017 with this ode for other undiscovered artists. For a guy who just released his debut album last year, he shows remarkably strong instincts on this track. He knows when to dial back the production and when to complicate things. Perhaps my favorite part of the song, though, is the lyrics; Taylor pierces through the aggressive initial production with his supportive, damn near inspirational theme for the up-and-coming musicians out there who feel like they aren’t even being heard. The 24 year old grew up in Leicester before relocating to London, and claims he’s been writing songs since he was 13. Clearly he has a natural talent, as the vacillation between isolated vocals on the verses and thundering, riotous choruses serves to make the song that much more dramatic. It’s only a matter of time before we start seeing this song crop up in films and television, as it seems almost tailor-made for soundtracks.
15. Calvin Harris feat. Frank Ocean and Migos – “Slide” If I’m being completely honest, I first discovered this song on an HBO commercial for season two of Insecure (a personal favorite). Regardless of one’s opinion on Calvin Harris, the main appeal for me was hearing Frank Ocean on such a radio-friendly single. Ocean and Harris deftly make an entry to the recent genre of nu-disco, slyly combining hip-hop and dance music with a piano-driven song that may surprise the audience purely off of the talent roster. Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean, and rappers Quavo and Offset from hip-hop trio Migos all come together despite their own distinctive discographies. It’s expertly crafted, but let’s be honest here - the second that Ocean starts singing, he steals the track from everyone else involved. If you’re looking for breezy, SoCal hip hop, this is for you, but that description seems almost limiting considering what was achieved here. For those of us who are consistently looking for new Frank Ocean tracks, “Slide” is a pleasant surprise.
14. Electric Guest – “Oh Devil” LA-based duo Electric Guest - which becomes a full band on tour - had a relatively forgettable sophomore album last year. The major standout for me, though, was this playful track that utilizes its electronic production to toy with the arrangement constantly throughout its three and a half minute running time. Perhaps the most interesting fact about Electric Guest is that it’s forwarded by Asa Taccone, the younger brother of Jorma Taccone - famous for being a member of The Lonely Island, along with appearances on shows like Girls and Parks and Rec. Asa helped compose a lot of the music for The Lonely Island, which led to Jorma putting him in touch with Brian Burton (otherwise known to the world as Danger Mouse). Long story short, Taccone now works with Matthew Compton, who supplies drums for their work and met Taccone through Burton, to create songs under the name Electric Guest. “Oh Devil” merges pop, electronic dance, and R&B with some clear Caribbean influences, as well. There’s a lot to like here, and if all you’re looking for is an earworm that comes out of left field, then this song is the one for you.
13. SZA – “20 Something” Solána Rowe had an incredible 2017, and released one of the biggest debut albums of the entire year under her stage name SZA. Given the success of “All the Stars,” her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the Black Panther soundtrack, it seems like 2018 is going to be a huge year, too. This success didn’t come overnight, though. Rowe has been working her way up for years, slowly gaining influences as diverse as Rihanna, Björk, Miles Davis, and Animal Collective. Her R&B has a stripped down quality, especially on album standout “20 Something;” there is a poignant simplicity on display that translates the anguish and anxiety of your 20s perfectly. It becomes clear quickly that Rowe expects a certain level of self-reflection and commitment to growth from her audience. As she notes in the lyrics, “Honesty hurts when you’re getting older.” Perhaps my favorite touch doesn’t even come from SZA herself, but her mother, who is heard at the end of the track giving advice to her daughter. Essentially, she says that one must commit to whatever feels true in life, because the alternative is a complete abyss. I couldn’t agree more.
12. Litany – “Bedroom” I may have noted the Caribbean influences on “Oh Devil,” but you can practically smell the jerk spices on this gorgeous electronic track from English duo Litany. Made up of Beth Cornell on vocals and Jake Nicolaides producing, the 23-year-olds from North Yorkshire have nailed the atmosphere on “Bedroom,” employing steel drums, synths, and a steady, consistent beat that buries itself inside your head for days to come. As the track progresses, Nicolaides plays with the beat and the production more and more, adding percussive texture and - dare I even say it? - crunch to the arrangement. Cornell’s vocals are ethereal, giving the song a hazy vibe, which add to the symbolic lyrics that seem to tie the titular bedroom to the paradise implied from the production. All of it combines to create an experience of escapism, fleeing the monotony of everyday life and conversations about the weather for the idyllic bedroom. For such young artists with only a handful of releases under their belts, the production on “Bedroom” is stunning in its professionalism.
11. Bayonne – “Fallss” I know, I know... another electronic song. Another track that effortlessly builds with synths, drum loops, and vocals, and captures your attention almost immediately. But with a song this strong, can you even blame me for including it? Austin-based artist Bayonne (legal name Roger Sellers) insists he’s not a DJ. He grew up obsessed with Eric Clapton and his guitar from the age of three on, and his first concert was Phil Collins at the ripe old age of nine. Clearly he learned guitar and drums from two of the best musicians of the last half century, but I doubt you’ll hear their influences on “Fallss.” Sellers isn’t a DJ, but he uses a lot of the same tools, including mixers, pedals, and keyboards, to create his massive pop tracks. The sounds he’s working with here rise and evolve and build throughout the song, as the layers of synth and other sonic strands slowly weave together, worming their way into your head. Sellers spoke to the lyrical meaning of the song, noting that it came from the huge life transition of being in his late-20s and starting to transition to music as a full time career. To quote him directly, “It's the bittersweet ride that comes with big changes in life.” We’ve all been through it the past few years, and the last six months alone have included, personally, a new job and moving across the country. Trust me, this song was keeping me company the entire time.

ive been crocheting/watching anime and i read a novel in 3 days (been a while lol) what do u think of fmab so far? figure skating that’s so cool! i really only know yuzuru hanyu but his routines are so graceful+relaxing. same about xmas! its nice to get together with family, eat good food, and be happy. you have good taste in music! i’ll have to look into some of those artists. day6 nflying and the rose are my fav kbands, others are fall out boy foo fighters red hot chili peppers the killers -ss
Ooh what are you crocheting? I used to be big into making those little amigurumis when I was in middle school but all the crafts I do these days are pretty much just birthday and xmas cards... I haven't been reading too much either aside from textbooks this year. I do love reading though, especially crime, fantasy and coming-of-age. What do you like to read?
Yuzuru Hanyu... well, most people are only familiar with him but it's for a reason. That man is one of the greatest of all time not just because he's an absolute delight to watch but also it's proven by the countless times he's broken (often his own) world records. When it comes to men's figure skating some of my favourites are also Cha Jun-hwan and Shoma Uno. I was lucky enough to see both yuzu and junhwan skate live in one of the GP 2018 events and gosh... They're both such graceful skaters in their own ways. Yuzu is hypnotizing because he moves so lightly, so beautifully and truly skates to the music like no other. Junhwan's skating is pretty too but in a more dynamic way, your eyes are fixed on him as he usually skates with great confidence that's not all that usual for a 19-year-old. As for ladies' figure skating I like f.ex. Evgenia Medvedeva and Kaori Sakamoto for similar reasons (strong performance skills). I guess as a dancer I really appreciate seeing people make the most out of their music, though I acknowledge that that's tenfolds harder on ice... But yeah, this isn't supposed to be a figure skating blog so I better stop here 😅
I'm not super close with my family so I usually spend my holidays in my room aside from christmas dinner and opening presents but I truly love the atmosphere. Winter can be such a depressing season but at least the holiday season is full of light, warmth and the smell of gingerbread.. 💛
I like your choice of bands! I'm glad n.flying has been getting more attention after the addition of hweseung, they're such a good band and their covers are 👌🏻👌🏻 as well. I also listen to some fob and the killers, any song recs that are not the most well-known ones?
#also i'm liking fmab!! the thought of two children going through all that.. dark#also this answer was just 70% of me ranting about figure skating so sorry about that sigh...#glad to hear you're able to lay back and spend time doing non-school-related activities ♡#my sweet santa ❄#secretsanta'20
