Four Puffs (1/2)

And lots of fluff!???? (P.s I just found your blog and I’m in love with it)
“Dustin, where the Hell is my hair spray? Did you steal it to do your hair again?” You shout through the house.
“Language, F/N!” your dad yells at you. It’s not often that he’s home, considering he travels for work, and when he is home, you have to fight the urge to roll your eyes every time he opens his mouth.
“Dad. He keeps stealing my hairspray and using, like, all of it. And the little shithead never asks first!”
“F/N! One more outburst like that, and you won’t be going out tonight!” Your dad looks over his newspaper at you, an eyebrow raised.
“Sorry, Dad. Do you know where Dustin is, by any chance?”
“Dusty’s over at Will’s house.”
“You couldn’t have told me that before I started yelling for him?”
Your dad folds the newspaper on his lap. “I didn’t have the chance, missy. Just call Joyce. I’m sure she can get him on the phone for you.”
Your battle against the eye rolls is futile, this time. Instead of even gracing your father with a response, you just grab your keys and a scrunchie, tossing your unruly hair up lackadaisically while holding your keys in your teeth.
“Be back before dinner, F/N! Your mom’s cooking meatloaf!” your dad calls behind you.
“’Kay, Dad!” You slam the door behind you, jogging to your beat up ’68 VW Beetle.
She is your baby, but shit if she hasn’t seen better days. Your seats are stained, and the engine makes this weird sound, if you drive Becky the Beetle for more than about twenty minutes at a time. One of these days, she’s going to crap out on you, and fuck if that day doesn’t terrify you. Who bikes to school at eighteen years old?
It takes you roughly three minutes of driving to arrive at the Byers’ residence, and you thank every god you can think of when you see your baby brother’s bike outside on the lawn, thrown there while he was obviously in a rush. What you don’t expect is to see Steve Harrington’s brown BMW in the driveway.
However, when you see that Joyce’s and Jonathan’s cars are both gone, it makes more sense. He must be playing babysitter for the thirteen year olds again. With a sigh, you go up to the door and knock, knowing that you’re about to embarrass the hell out of yourself in front of Steve, considering you’re in exercise clothes – leggings, leg warmers, and a ratty sweatshirt. All over your petty need for hairspray.
You raise your brow when it’s your brother who opens the door. “Oh shit.”
“Hey, Dustin. Wanna let me in?” Your tone of voice brooks no argument.
“I can explain, F/N, I swear.”
“What can you explain, Dustin?”
“I didn’t realize I still had your hairspray in my bag, and you have the Farrah Fawcett spray, and you know they discontinued it, and I really like your hairspray, because it’s better than Aquanet, and – “
You follow your brother through the Byers’ residence. In the living room, his friends are sitting around a table, playing Dunces and Diapers, or whatever the hell the stupid game is called. In the corner, a bottle of Coke in his hand, sits Steve Harrington, whose eyes meet yours as soon as you walk in the room.
“Well, Dusty?” you ask, your voice suddenly saccharine sweet. Your brother gives you an incredulous look at your impromptu change in demeanor. “Where’s my hair spray?”
“I can’t believe you needed it so bad that you actually came all the way out here,” your brother mutters under his breath as he digs through his backpack. “interrupting our game and shit.”
After a moment, he hands you the bottle of Fabergé Organics hair spray, which you immediately notice is nearly empty. “What the hell, Dustin? You used all of it! Do you know how hard this shit is to find?”
He looks down at his feet, biting his lip. “I’m sorry, F/N.”
“I had a date tonight, but I guess I’ll have to cancel. Aquanet sucks.”
“You, uh, you had a date, F/N?” Steve suddenly speaks up, and you glance over at him.
“Yeah, it wasn’t anything crazy, but Billy Hargrove seems like a nice enough guy.”
The redheaded girl, Max, gags audibly. “Billy is a shitstain of a human being. What are you talking about?”
“He really is, F/N. You shouldn’t go out with him. Did you know he beat up Steve?” Your brother is nodding emphatically with Max, his eyes wide.
You raise an eyebrow. “Really?”
“Yeah, he was defending Lucas! Billy’s a terrible person, F/N. You should cancel that date and just hang out with us tonight.”
“Fine, Dustin. I’ll take your word for it, this time. Hey, Will, where’s your phone?”
The Byers boy points you towards a wall handset, and you connect with the operator quickly, asking for the Hargrove residence.
“Hello?” A woman, whom you presume to be Billy’s stepmom and  Max’s mom, answers the phone.
“Is this Billy Hargrove’s house?”
“Yes, it is. One second. Billy!”
A moment later, Billy’s on the line, and though you’re not particularly interested in the boy – aside from his obvious physical appeal – your heart skips a beat at how charming he can be. “Hargrove residence, Billy speaking.”
“Hey Billy, it’s F/N Henderson.”
“Oh, hey, babe. What’s up? I’m still picking you up at 8 to see Ladyhawke, right?”
“Actually, no. A bit of a family emergency came up. Sorry, Billy.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, what?”
“Yeah, sorry. Our, uh…cat went missing again. My mom loves that kitten, so Dustin and I have to look for her.”
“Just tell her that you’re looking with me, F/N.”
“I really can’t do that to my mom, Billy.”
Steve comes up to you, hearing the tension in your voice. You okay? he mouths towards you. You just nod, your mouth pursed.
“Fine. Forget about rescheduling, though. I can get a more attractive whore at Hawkins High.”
“Excuse me? What the fuck did you just call me, Hargrove?”
“A whore. Everyone knows you’re fucking Harrington.”
You glance over at Steve, embarrassed that he’s going to witness what you’re about to say. “I am not fucking Steve Harrington, asshole. And you’re right. We’re not rescheduling. Get bent, shitbag.”
You slam the handset back onto the hook, actually shaking through the force of your anger. “Dustin, come on, we’re going home.”
“Wait, what? But I don’t need to be home until dinner.”
You give your brother a Look. “Please, let’s just go.”
“Let him stay, F/N. Why don’t you stay, too?” Steve asks, in a placating voice.
You bite your lip. “I need to be alone for a bit. I was hoping my brother would be there for me, but I fucking guess not. I’m going home Dustin. Dad says to be home by dinner.”
There’s a fierce migraine brewing in the left side of your head right now, and you just want to take a bath and ignore the world. Careful not to slam Joyce’s front door, you jog to your car, however your beloved Becky the Beetle won’t start. You turn your key in the ignition seven or eight times before slamming your forehead onto your steering wheel. This cannot be happening to you right now.
Giving up, you walk back into the Byers’ living room, much to the shock of everyone there. Steve is the first one to break the silence. “Change your mind then, Henderson?”
You sigh. “My car’s not starting, so I’m stuck here. Maybe you guys can help me push start it?”
“Can we do it after our game, F/N?” your brother asks.
Once again, you sigh. “Yeah, I guess. I’ll just go…sit with Steve, I guess. Enjoy or whatever.”
You collapse on the Byers couch next to Steve, who glances over at you. “You can’t tell anyone this,” he whispers.
“What?”
“I…have a few spare bottles of the Farrah Fawcett spray. Is that what you use?”
Your eyes widen. “Wait, really?”
He smirks gently at your excitement. “Yeah, I do. I can bring a bottle over to your house tomorrow, so you have it for school on Monday.”
“Oh my gosh, Steve, you’re the best!” You lean over and give him a hug, forgetting, for a moment, that you’re not looking your best.
He blushes slightly, his smirk turning into a shy smile. “Glad to help, F/N.”

Fright Night
pairing: eddie munson x reader
summary: dustin cooks up a plan to get you to snuggle with eddie. all it requires are a few horror movies.
an: horror is my favorite movie genre and i'm tired of yn being a wimp about them. plus 80s horror has a special place in my heart bc they're so bad but in a good way? n e ways here's a fic where yn actually likes scary movies
wc: 1.9k
tw: mention of sexual assault (in a movie they watch)
eddie/stranger things masterlist
——————
Dustin was a menace. Eddie was sure of it when he first recruited the freshman to Hellfire, but, if there had been any doubts before, they were gone now.
“So let me make sure I have this right. You want me to get Yn to watch horror movies with me just so she’ll get scared and cuddle with me?”
“That’s the gist of it, yeah. I heard from Steve that it works like a charm.”
“Have you forgotten that we’re already dating? I could just ask her to cuddle.”
Dustin groaned, “C’mon, Eddie. Where’s the fun in that? Besides, Halloween’s coming up. Get in the holiday spirit.”
Eddie was fighting a losing battle and he knew it. “Fine, fine. I’ll ask .”
Dustin saw you approaching the table first, and quickly threw a grape at Eddie from across the table to get his attention. Eddie’s head snapped in Dustin’s direction, about to tell him off until he saw you placing your lunch tray down. Dustin cleared his throat and not-so-subtly jerked his head at you. Mike and Lucas didn’t outright say anything, but they were definitely looking at Dustin as if he’d lost his mind.
Eddie got the hint. “Hey, Yn, would you wanna come over to mine tonight and watch movies?”
“Yeah, sure, sounds like fun. What kind of movies are we thinking?”
“Horror?”
Your face brightened, excitement practically bubbling out of you. “Yes! I love horror movies!”
“You- You do?” said Eddie, shocked.
“Yeah, you didn’t know that?” You asked, to which Eddie shook his head. “Huh. Guess it never came up then. Which is odd, because I watch a lot of them. Once got grounded because I told my little sister that Freddy targets bad kids, and if she didn’t go to bed on time then she was being bad.” You smiled a little at the memory of your naive little sister, not thinking much of it, but Eddie was second guessing the whole plan, as was Dustin.
You finished your food quickly, already returning your tray. When you came back, you didn’t sit back down. Instead, you grabbed your bag, saying bye to the table. “Wait, where are you going?” questioned Eddie.
“Library. Gotta review for that calculus test. And shouldn’t you be studying, too?”
“All work and no play makes Eddie a dull boy.”
You rolled your eyes, a small smile indicating that you didn’t really mean it. With that, you left the cafeteria, leaving Eddie to scold Dustin. “So what now, genius? I was warming up to that plan, and now it probably won’t work at all.”
Dustin thought for a moment before speaking. “Talk to her when you get the chance. Find out what kind of horror movies she’s watched. Wouldn’t want to rent something she’s already seen, y’know? Then report back to me after last period.”
——————
“Dude, she’s seen movies I’ve never even heard of. There was one she was telling me about with a killer who talks like Donald Duck and only kills pretty young women. And another about a guy who carried his deformed twin brother in a wicker basket and went around killing the doctors who separated him and his twin because they were conjoined. There was even one about ‘cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers?’”
Dustin winced. “Yikes. I don’t think I can help you with that. Talk to Steve and Robin. They work in the video store, so they’re bound to know which movies to get.” He mounted his bike, apologizing for not being of more help. “Good luck!” he called out, already pedaling off.
The bell above the door dinged as Eddie walked in. Steve and Robin were at the counter bickering about something, not noticing that a customer had walked in. “Excuse me?” interrupted Eddie.
“Oh my God hi, I’m so sorry. Um, how can we help you?” she spoke quickly.
“I was wondering if you could recommend some good horror movies?”
“The freak renting horror movies? Who would’ve thought,” muttered Steve under his breath. It wasn’t quite loud enough for Eddie to catch it, but Robin did. She stomped on his foot under the counter. “Shut up,” she hissed, turning her attention back to Eddie. “We have a lot of horror movies here. Uh, is there a particular subgenre you're looking for, or…”
Eddie shook his head, “No, no, just anything decent, really.”
“Well, there’s always The Exorcist. That one is a pretty popular rental. Evil Dead, too. I’ve heard it’s supposed to be super scary. Oh! There’s one that came out recently called Reanimator, if you’d like to try that one.”
“I’ll get all of them. Trying to get into the Halloween spirit and all.”
“Sure thing!” chirped Robin. “I think we have all of them in stock…”
With the tapes sitting in his passenger, Eddie was on his way to your house to pick you up, where he found you waiting on your front porch. He grabbed the tapes to get them out of your way as you climbed in, handing them back to you to hold while he drove. You flipped through them, wanting to know what he’d picked out.
“Ooh, you picked some good ones,” you commented.
“Tell me I didn’t pick a bunch of movies you’ve already seen.”
You laughed, “Nah, I’ve just heard they’re good. I was too young for The Exorcist when it first came out and just never got around to it. And my dad’s rented Evil Dead before but returned it before I could see it. Can’t believe he watched it without me. And Reanimator is super new, so I haven’t seen that one either.”
Eddie signed in relief as he pulled into his driveway, putting the van in park. If you’d already seen them, then you definitely wouldn't have been scared. As soon as you hopped out of the van, Eddie’s neighbor’s dog decided that barking its head off at you was a suitable greeting. “Friendly as ever,” you said sarcastically. “They should have named you Cujo.” Eddie chuckled at your commentary as you followed him inside.
“Go ahead and make yourself comfortable in the living room. I’m gonna get some snacks.”
You did as he said, taking the tapes with you and plopped yourself on the couch. You turned the TV on, seeing nothing but static at first, to which you gasped dramatically, “They’re here.”
Eddie laughed, catching the reference. “You might need to fiddle with the antenna.” You got up from where you were seated to see if you could get a clear signal. It took a little bit of effort, but you finally got it, the familiar Civic TV logo being displayed.
“Dunno why my uncle loves that channel so much,” said Eddie, walking in from the kitchen, an impressive pile of snacks in his arms.
“I have a friend who likes this channel. Pretty sure it plays porn sometimes.”
Eddie groaned and made a disgusted face. “I just said my uncle watches this channel, don't go telling me it plays porn.”
You tried to keep your laughter down, but the shaking of your shoulders gave you away. He threw a bag of chips into your lap, “Be quiet and eat your snacks.” It did nothing to quell your laughter, but Eddie wasn’t truly upset, so it really didn’t matter. You tossed the chips back on the coffee table, digging to see what else he’d brought. “Is this alcohol?” you asked, scanning the bottles.
“Yep,” he said, popping the P. He picked up a green bottle. “Look! Even got Tenafly Viper!” he said excitedly, offering you the bottle.
“No thanks,” you declined. “That shit’ll melt your insides.”
He shrugged, placing the bottle back down. “Suit yourself. So, which movie are we starting with?”
“The Exorcist.”
Eddie smirked, “The Exorcist it is.” He got up to place the tape in the VCR.
You were eager to start the movie, but of course ads wouldn’t let you do that. If you had to listen to that stupid jingle for The Stuff one more time, you were gonna blow up the factory.
Throughout the movie, Eddie waited for some type of reaction from you. Nothing. You were watching the screen intently, completely engrossed, but not scared. You even laughed, yes laughed when the girl’s head did a complete 180. By the end of it, Eddie had not come anywhere near the goal of Dustin’s plan. “That was so good!” you gushed.
“I thought the point of horror movies was to scare you? That’s what makes them good, right?”
“Ok, so I didn’t think it was scary, but it was still good. 10/10 would watch again.”
“Let’s see about this next one. Robin said it was really scary.” He got up to return The Exorcist to its box, replacing it with Evil Dead. Once again, you were hardly phased, the biggest reaction from you being when the girl got grabbed by evil vines. You looked really uncomfortable at the scene, and rightfully so, but made no move to go to him for comfort, simply clutching the blanket a little tighter around yourself. Some of the gore had you flinching, causing you to place your unfinished bag of chips on the coffee table, but that was all. The movie soon ended, and Eddie was left with one more chance; this whole ridiculous plan of Dustin’s hinged on Reanimator being one of the best horror movies ever made. Eddie popped the final tape in, returning to his spot on the couch. As the ads played, he turned to you, “Were you really not scared by any of that?”
“No,” you answered. “I’ve seen so many that I guess I’m just kinda desensitized to them. I still really enjoy them, I just don’t get scared as easily, y’know? Why do you want me to get scared so bad anyway?”
Eddie averted his eyes, embarrassed to tell you the truth. “Dustin came up with this plan to watch scary movies with you so youll cuddle while watching them.”
“Oh, Eddie,” you sighed, reaching out to push his hair back so you could see his face. “If that was what you wanted all you had to do was ask.”
He let out a drawn out groan, “That’s what I told him when he suggested this stupid plan.”
You chuckled at his words. “That’s what you get for listening to a silly freshman.”
Eddie didn’t respond, opting instead to pull you into his side. “Hey, that silly freshman has a girlfriend, so he’s gotta know something, right?”
“I still don’t believe Susie exists. Or Jane for that matter.”
“I don’t either, but the guys didn’t believe we were together either, so maybe we should give them the benefit of the doubt,” he said. He had a point, so you had to agree with him there.
The two of you fell into comfortable silence as the movie began, snuggled together on the couch. In the end, Eddie got what he wanted. There was a scene in Reanimator of a girl getting sexually assaulted by a decapitated head that had you hiding your face in his chest, disturbed by the imagery. Thinking back on what Dustin said, Eddie understood why Steve did this with dates; it was nice to be looked to for comfort. Overall, he considered fright night a success.

The Secrets Best Left In The Dark
Batsis x Batfamily One-Shot
Word Count: 4K Warnings: Angst, Mentions of Death
Author's Note: I thrive on angst, so I have no apologies for y'all. Enjoy! -Thorne
They’d never claim their eldest sibling was cowardly. Far from it, she put her life on the line every day, in and out of the suit, defending those she cared for with a strength that they’d never seen in anyone. But while everyone in their family was typically hot-tempered and ready for a beatdown, she was calm and quiet. Always kind, and never letting anger, or any type of other emotion show besides pleasantness. For a while, they merely assumed she was the doormat type, simply on the basis that she never argued with their dad over anything—the whole “It’s my way or the highway” and his way was what she always went with—and that made her seem like an alien surrounded by humans because everyone argued with Bruce. That, and the fact that whenever she got into the rare fight during patrol, she’d never hit anybody. She was trained to take down multiple combatants and not once did she ever punch, hit, or kick a single person.
It was practically abnormal to be in the Batfamily and never lay a hand on a criminal, and yet that was what their sister did. Hardly ever did she use force to get what she wanted, always relying on stealth. Even on the minute cases when she got caught in an infiltration and had to fight her way out, she used electrified gauntlets to subdue them, rarely coming to blows. So, in a sense while everyone in her family was an aggressive fighter, she was a defensive—or perhaps a passive one—and that’s how she acted in life too. Always passive by nature, but always playing the peacekeeper between brothers and between fathers and sons.
They never knew why she was such a way, from the stories that Diana and Clark used to tell, back when it was just their sister and Bruce, she was a whirlwind that got into fights with anything that dared breathe in her direction—apparently, she made her angriest siblings look like mice. But no matter how many times they pried or even asked Bruce (apparently, he didn’t know what changed either—and this was coming from the World’s Greatest Detective), she never talked about it, simply saying that she grew out of always being angry and wanted to be calmer.
They suspected she held a dark secret—but no one could’ve prepared for just how dark and damaging it had been to her all these years.
***
In hindsight, taking a trip into Scarecrow’s lab was a bad idea, but when the offer had come up in the cave from her father, (Y/N) was happy to lend a hand, knowing that with his recent injury, he wouldn’t’ve been able to get out there during the night. It was also amazing, in the twenty-seven years she’d been alive, and in the past nineteen years that she’d been a vigilante, she’d never seen her father take a break—she could count on one hand how many times he had, and even then, he was still working in the cave, so technically it wasn’t a break.
But after tangling with Bane and Croc, he’d broken a few ribs and after repeated complaints and worries from her, his sons, and Alfred, Bruce finally agreed to let his children handle patrol. Which is why when the quadrants of the city were split up between Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian, it left (Y/N) to pick up specific places that Bruce wanted checked out—she warmly agreed to do so. And while she was confident in her abilities to do everything, he asked of her, she should’ve called for backup when it came to infiltrating Scarecrow’s hideout.
***
Another vent went off above her and she ducked, eyes narrowing as she watched the orange fog, appearing blue through her detective mode, drift out. She would’ve sprayed it, but she’d used up all of her explosive gel covering the others. Now she simply had to avoid them and hope that her gas mask filtered properly—so far, it was. A shrill laugh echoed through the speakers above her, and shivers went down her spine.
Anytime now, Batgirl. You will fall too.
She frowned. “I’m not afraid of you, Doctor Crane.” Ducking under another pipe, she added, “I can help you if you’ll let me.”
Help me? Help…ME? You can’t even help YOURSELF!
Scarecrow had always been a talker, much like the majority of the villains they faced, and he was looking for a rise. She came to the end of the corridor where the pipes met a brick wall and she sighed, searching for a way through. A vent covered the top right corner and she pulled out the grapple gun, pointing it at the grate. She pressed the trigger and it latched onto the metal bars; grasping the cord, she yanked as hard as she could, stepping backwards when it fell, hitting the ground with a clang.
(Y/N) heaved herself up into the vent and crawled on her hands and knees, as quietly as she could, twisting and turning through the maze of confined metal. When she came to the end, another grate covered the exit and she pressed her foot against it, pushing until the bolts popped loose and she could slip out.
From the looks of it, if the advanced chemistry equipment were any help, she’d ended up in Scarecrow’s lab. He wasn’t in sight, but that gave her time to look around and see if he’d changed any formulas recently. She raised her wrist and tapped at the blue screen, taking a moment to run a program. When it beeped, (Y/N) sighed in relief and reached up, pulling the gas mask off—the air was clean.
She set the mask down on the counter and put a finger to her ear. “Batman, do you read me?” His voice came through a moment later.
“I read you Batgirl. Loud and clear.”
“I’m in Doctor Crane’s lab,” she said, poking around at the notes he’d scrawled out. “I don’t see anything new. The formulas all look the same.”
“Compounds?”
She frowned and read. “Honestly, it’s a bit hard to decipher. His handwriting is a lot like Red’s when he’s had one too many energy drinks.” A quiet huff came from over the line, telling her that he was amused. “I’ll send you pictures of it and see if you can.” (Y/N) snapped a few photos. “Get ‘em?”
“Just now,” he replied, and she walked over to one of the lit Bunsen burners.
“Looks like he’s got something brewing right now though,” (Y/N) leaned over and peered into it, careful to avoid any steam that was rising.
“Recognize it?”
She paused. “It’s not the usual stuff he’s got. It looks almost golden and—”
All at once the dish exploded and she had just enough time to cover her face from the shattering glass, letting out a gasp as she recoiled.
“Batgirl, what happened?”
(Y/N) coughed and waved a hand, and when her hand appeared double, she breathed out in shock. “Oh no,” she whispered.
“Batgirl, report.” She hurried to the exit of the lab as Scarecrow’s cackle sounded overhead.
“I’ve been hit with a blast of toxin.” Pulling open the door, she fumbled with her utility belt then let out a sigh.
“What’s wrong?”
(Y/N) shook her head and weaved down the corridors, the faster she got to her bike, the faster she could get back to the cave.
“I don’t have any anti-toxin on me.” She pushed against the doors and stumbled out into the cold and rainy night. Her mind was already beginning to fog over as she climbed onto her bike, and she barely had enough focus to keep it steady while she programmed it to auto-drive.
“I’m sending one of the boys to you.”
She grunted and lifted her foot as the bike revved and shot forward. “Don’t. I’ve already programmed the bike to the cave’s coordinates. I’ll be back in less than fifteen minutes.”
“You won’t make it that long.”
(Y/N) groaned as the lights began to flash around her and she saw faces and images passing her. “I just have to…focus.”
Horns blared around her as the bike weaved in and out of cars and she held onto the frame with all the strength she had. His voice started echoing in her ears and she shut her eyes, trying to block it out.
You could’ve saved me.
Another groan escaped her, and she heard, “(Y/N), talk to me.”
She shook her head. “I can’t—I have to—focus now.” But with every passing second, his voice got louder and more insistent.
You let me die. You watched me die.
(Y/N)’s eyes filled with tears and they dripped down her cheeks. I tried to save you. she thought, hoping it would suffice, but she knew it wouldn’t. I tried so hard to. The last thing she remembered was turning onto the street that led to the cave.
***
Bruce was already pushing away from the Batcomputer when the boys arrived back at the cave, Dick and Damian from the Batmobile, and Tim and Jason from their own rides. Knowing that their father wasn’t one to sit around, it wasn’t out of the ordinary for him to be moving, but with how quick and worried his movements seemed, they knew something was wrong.
Dick pulled the cowl away from his face and asked, “B? What’s wrong?”
Bruce didn’t respond at first, hurrying towards the medical station they had. “Your sister was dosed with fear toxin and she doesn’t have anti-toxin to counteract it.”
Jason, who’d already taken his hood off, was already in the process of putting it back on. “Let one of us take it to her.”
Their father shook his head, rummaging for an antidote. “She’s coming back here.”
“Here?” Tim repeated, striding over. “Fear toxin works within seconds on normal people, minutes for us.” He looked at his brothers. “She won’t have enough time to get back here and not be under the effects.”
Bruce nodded, focusing as he poured a vial of glowing green liquid into the needle gun. “I know.” He looked at Tim. “That’s why I’m getting it ready for her.”
“Father, can we do anything?” Damian questioned, pulling away the domino mask from his eyes.
“Get ready to be on the defensive if she’s offensive,” he replied. “I don’t think she’ll hit anybody, but you never know.”
“She can’t hit that hard. (Y/N) only weighs—” Jason cut off as the rev of an engine cut though the air and they turned to see their eldest sister coming in on a sleek black motorcycle, that was shaking badly.
“(Y/N)!” Dick yelled and the bike suddenly shifted and toppled sideways, throwing her from it. It slid across the cave floor in a hail of sparks, metal, and plastic flying in every direction as (Y/N) rolled too.
They started running towards her, hoping to stop her when her back collided with one of the glass cases that held their suits, and she went limp.
Bruce reached her first, and knelt down, setting the antidote aside to check her first. The way she hit the case and with how hard, it was possible that she could be seriously injured—or worse.
“(Y/N)!” he called, hands coming to pull her away from the case. She whimpered and he let out a sigh—she was still alive. “(Y/N), can you hear me?” he inquired, reaching up to pull the cowl from her face.
Her brothers crowded behind him and they all stared in horror as tears streamed down her cheeks, and blood out of her nose.
“I’m sorry,” she bawled. “I tried to save you.” Bruce looked at her then grabbed the needle gun, bringing it up to her neck.
“Hang on, (Y/N). You’re gonna be okay.”
She grabbed his hand and cried, “I held on as long as I could, but my grip was slipping. I’m sorry I couldn’t hold onto you. I’m sorry I let you go. I let you die. I’m sor—” her sobs cut her off as she curled in on herself, and as if finally snapping out of a trance, Bruce pulled his hand from her grip and pulled the trigger of the gun.
(Y/N) jerked as the needle entered her skin and they watched the neon green liquid in the vial emptied. She fell into whimpers and mumbles of “I’m sorry” before her eyes rolled back and she collapsed in Bruce’s arms.
He stared at her for a second, feeling numb at his daughter’s admissions. Whatever her fear had been, it’d been there a long time, and he had no idea what it was about. Sighing heavily, he drew his eyes to his sons, to Jason.
“Will you take (Y/N) to her bedroom while I get an IV ready?”
Jason nodded and bent down, picking up his unconscious sister. He tucked her head in the crook of his neck and looked at Dick. “Get the doors, yeah?” Dick nodded and hurried ahead of him, while Tim and Damian followed in suit.
Bruce was left alone in a matter of moments, and all he could do was rise to his feet and ready the medical supplies, all the while, thinking back on every night that (Y/N) had gone on patrol in the last nineteen years—and the last time someone died in front of her.
***
Her head felt like an overripe melon ready to burst, and that first moment of cracking her eyes open was the biggest mistake since she told her dad what ‘Thot’ meant. The second she opened them, she shut them once more, inhaling deeply through her nose as the fog started to clear from her mind.
“Queenie, hey, you’re awake,” Jason murmured, and she nodded, blinking a few times before his face came into focus, Dick appearing Tim appearing behind him.
“Go get dad,” Dick said to someone, and she figured it was Damian since neither Jason nor Tim moved.
(Y/N) started shifting, trying to sit up when Dick put his hand on her shoulder, gentle, but firm as he said, “Don’t try to move, Barbie.”
“Where’s dad?” she asked, craning her neck to see.
“Damian’s going to get him sis,” Tim answered, smoothing out the blanket covering her. “Just relax. You took a beating when you came into the cave.”
“I did?” she questioned, eyes widening in shock when they nodded, faces pinched with worry.
The ceiling light turned on just bright enough to give sight and they looked at Bruce who was coming in, Damian following.
“(Y/N),” Dick moved, letting Bruce take his spot, and he took her hand in his, running his thumb over the back of her hand. “You had us all worried.”
She frowned and exhaled heavily. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do that.” She gazed between them, and something in their eyes made an emotion she couldn’t describe rise in her chest.
“Why are you all looking at me like that?” (Y/N) met Bruce’s eyes. “What happened?” Before he could answer, she gasped and looked at her brothers. “I didn’t hurt anyone, did I?”
A chorus of hurried, “No’s!” rang out and she sighed in relief, reclining back on the pillows.
“Oh, thank goodness.” She went silent, then started, “But…something did happen, didn’t it?”
Her brothers glanced between themselves then they looked at Bruce who sighed and squeezed her hand, drawing her attention to him.
“What?” she asked and when he said nothing, she repeated, “Dad, what?”
His steel blue eyes met hers and he murmured, “You were apologizing for…letting someone die.”
Whatever had flashed in her eyes that told them she knew exactly what they were talking about was shocking enough because Jason said, “You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t wanna, Queenie.”
(Y/N) fell silent for a full minute and when she spoke again, her voice was quiet and the look in her eyes was far away. “Before Dick came to the manor it was just you and I patrolling Gotham. At eight, I wasn’t really let out of your sight, but one night I had wandered off while you were dealing with Two-Face.” She looked at Bruce. “I found an injured GCPD officer on a bridge. He had been tailing Killer Croc.”
She glanced at Tim. “His name was Grady Richards.”
Tim’s eyes fell to the tablet in his hands, and he tapped at the screen for a few moments, then read, “Hero cop Grady Richards honored after dying in line of duty. He fell off a broken bridge on Miagani Island.”
Bruce’s eyes found hers again. “He didn’t fall, did he?”
(Y/N) felt tears grow in her vision and she shook her head. “No…no he didn’t.” Inhaling deeply, she recounted, “Croc came back and there was no way either of us could’ve taken him, so we ran. And Croc chased us.” She shut her eyes, remembering the night.
***
Fear pulsed through her veins as she sprinted as far away from the overgrown crocodile as she could. The GCPD officer was ahead of her, but he stopped and spun around to see her.
“Hurry!” he yelled, pointing back to the car. “Get to the cruiser!”
She spared a glance over her shoulder, eyes going wide when she saw Killer Croc picking up one of the concrete guards.
“Duck!” was all she heard, and she hit the ground, watching as if in slow motion as it flew overhead, then smashed into the top of the cop’s car, glass and metal shattering under the pressure.
Someone grabbed her by the back of her suit and hauled her up, slinging her behind them, and the back of the GCPD officer’s uniform came into view.
“Start running, Batgirl! And don’t stop!” he yelled, and when he has his sidearm drawn, he looked down at her. “You’ve got as much time as I have bullets.” He turned, opening fire, and she took a moment to stare before scrambling to her feet to start running.
A cry of pain sounded behind her, and against her better judgement, she turned and looked, gaping as Croc’s arm sent the officer flying. He hit the guardrail and collapsed against it and her feet were moving before she could stop them.
The first punch went to the back of Croc’s knee and she knew it had to have hurt her more than it did him because he didn’t even flinch. But when those glowing yellow eyes peered down at her, she knew she was in trouble.
“Looks like I’ve got an appetizer for the night!” he laughed and reached for her, but she ducked and rolled out of his way, standing in front of the wounded GCPD officer, who weakly looked up at her.
“What are you—doing? I told you…to run.”
She couldn’t beat Killer Croc, and she knew it, but she shook her head and stared down the villain before her.
Croc’s attacks were wide and though she was small, she was pushed to her limit rolling and dodging every one. After a few moments, she was practically dead on her feet, huffing as her lungs begged for air. She kept wiping away the rain that splattered against her mask and on a particularly unlucky step, she found herself slipping.
And it was all the opening that Croc needed because he swiped at her and she flew backwards into the officer who’d managed to stand, just barely. Colliding with him tipped his balance and they went over the guardrail, barreling towards the ground.
She reached out as fast as she could and grabbed hold of the metal beam that ran the length of the under bridge, crying out in pain as it pulled the joints and bones. Her other hand gripped the officer’s and she held on tight. Croc leaned over the bridge, apparently not seeing them because his footsteps went off in the opposite direction, leaving them in silence.
Time passed and she wasn’t sure how long, but both her arms were getting tired, and she looked down at the officer.
“Sir?” she called, and he looked up at her. “You have to climb. I’m starting to lose grip.”
He tried to reach up but let out a cry and grabbed his side with his free hand. Pulling his hand away, she saw the crimson dilute with rainwater.
The hand that held the ledge began to cramp and she started hyperventilating. “Please, you need to hurry! I can’t hold on much longer!” Again, he tried, and she looked down at him as her fingers began to shake.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered and let go of his hand, and the last thing she saw until he hit the ground was the sight of his eyes, wide with fear and pleading.
***
“I watched his head explode when he hit the ground,” she said, tears pouring down her cheeks as she stared out the window, watching the rain hit against the glass. “I had to make a choice. Either both of us died or one of us lived.” (Y/N) looked at Bruce. “And I chose my life over his.”
No one could believe their ears at the story she’d told, but suddenly, the self-sacrificing attitude their sister had, the way she’d bend over backwards for anyone, made perfect sense—she did it out of atonement, for a wrong she carried since she was eight years old.
“I pulled myself back up onto the bridge and I ran as far as I could and didn’t look back,” she said. “I kept my mouth shut when the paper ran his story and never told anyone about it.”
(Y/N)’s breath shuddered. “I just pushed it down as far inside me as I could and tried to forget about it.” Her eyes met Bruce and she tearfully stated, “But every time I closed my eyes, I saw his face.”
He leaned forward and took her hand. “Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked softly, dark brows furrowed in hurt.
She swallowed thickly and shook her head as she replied, “I killed someone that night. I was terrified about what you would’ve said. About what you would’ve done.” He gazed at her and (Y/N) whispered, “I’m sorry, dad.”
Bruce dropped her gaze and took a deep breath before murmuring, “It was just an accident, (Y/N).”
“I let go of—”
“I would’ve been more upset having to bury my daughter,” he interrupted, and she fell silent, gaping at him. He searched her face and reached up, placing a hand on her cheek. “I understand why you kept this secret, but you should’ve come to me, (Y/N).” Shaking his head, he added, “You didn’t deserve to be buried under this for nineteen years.”
“I’m sorry,” she said, lowering her head and Bruce shook his head in response.
“No, I’m sorry.” When she met his eye, he continued, “I’m sorry I didn’t know you were carrying this. Then and now.”
(Y/N) swallowed and rested back against the bed. “I send his widow money on the anniversary of his death. I slip it into the pension she’s given.” She let out a sigh. “It’s the only way I’ve found that I could sleep at night.”
Her eyes drifted to the window and Bruce placed a kiss to her forehead. “Get some sleep, sweetheart.” She nodded and before he left, he said, “And when you feel up for it, we’ll see about setting up a fund in his name.”
She wished it didn’t make her as emotional as it did, but silent tears dripped down her cheeks as the door closed, leaving her and her brothers alone. They gathered on her bed, leaning close to offer their support, and she was thankful for them doing so. And for the first time in nineteen years, when (Y/N) closed her eyes, she didn’t see Grady Richards’ face.

Bucky was standing in the kitchen, back leaned against the counter of the kitchen with his eyes on the girl who was currently sat in his couch with a badly bandaged hand. He was never good at first aid, he hadn’t been good at it with his sister and he definitely hadn’t been good with her, yet he thought it would be best than let her bleed out onto her costume which she still hadn’t taken out and that included her wig. He knew what hair looked like, he could see it in the back of his mind from the dark costume room, her hair pushed back into the same hairstyle most of the girls in the opera house had. Yet he also knew that getting out of her costume was the last thing going in her mind despite him not knowing at all what was going on in her head. She just stood in silence, looking at the wall of the TV but the TV was off, despite the fact the remote was next to her.
What was he even supposed to do with her? He couldn’t tie her to the bed or hide her in the basement, he didn’t have a basement. Besides, he didn’t know whenever she’d actually be used as a trading chip so he didn’t know how long he would have to babysit her. How was he even supposed to do John’s bidding if he had to keep an eye on her? It wasn’t like he could leave, she would try to escape. Heck, she’d even try to escape when he was in the apartment. This was a mess, a mess he needed to clean, a mess he didn’t know how to clean.
The door bell was the first sound in that flat for 2 hours and he sighed out of relief he could finally leave and not have to stare at her and her Bambi like stare. Damned Billy.
     - She’s a runner. - Bucky said as he opened the door, a stunned Billy walking in like a scared little mouse. - I’ll be gone for two hours. Make sure she’s okay, not bleeding and definitely not escaping.
Billy nodded his head like a bobble doll, standing stiff by the door as Bucky grabbed the keys to his bike and left. Y/N finally looked up, away from the wall and at Billy. He couldn’t be older than her, and if he were, he couldn’t be more than a year or two older than her. He had shaggy hair and eyes which were filled with insecurity and fear yet a facade of strength which he definitely did not have. She should’ve been mad at him, after all he was the one who misunderstood the assignment (whatever it was) and got her hostage. Yet, she merely saw a boy who was scared, perhaps as scared as she was.
    - I’m Y/N. - she pipped up as if the two of them were co-workers who were just meeting.
    - Billy.
    - Is that a nickname or a name ... you know like Billy Bigelow.
    - Billy Bigelow’s a wife beater. - he snickered. - My name’s William but they call me Billy.
    - Do you like being called Billy? I can call you William if you want.
    - Will.
    - Pardon?
    - I like being called Will but John said it sounds childish. - he clarified, slightly kicking the air like a petulant child.
    - I like Will better. - she moved towards the end of the couch, patting the pillow next to her. - Do you wanna sit?
   - He doesn’t like it when people sit in his couch.
   - Well .. I’m sat in the couch and he didn’t say anything, besides, how would he even know you were sat in the couch.
There wasn’t much she knew about the man who had been overseeing her. She didn’t even knew his name other than the “Soldat” nickname she’d heard John call him. It wasn’t like she particularly cared about knowing him, after all he was the one who was keeping her hostage and he was also the one who had kept her alive. Yet, at this point she wondered if being alive was a faith worse than being dead. How bad is death anyway, she pondered. Maybe it hurts to leave, but it doesn’t hurt to stay dead. She wanted to believe in what he had told her, she wanted to believe that all of this was just a big nightmare, it was just a hiccup in her path. She was gonna go back, she was going back, she had to go back. She had no choice but to go back.
Her eyes lingered on the broken window, covered by a piece of cardboard tapped to the broken glass, a shattering reminder that she had failed at escaping, had failed at leaving. She should’ve fought harder to escape, she should’ve said no when the main soprano asked her for help. She should’ve just ... done what she was hired to do. The mere thought of the opera house made her eyes swell with tears. She had been so close.
    - I’m sorry. - Will blurted out, his words causing her to immediately wipe her eyes before the tears could actually roll down. - I screwed up, didn’t mean to ruin your shot.
    - That’s ... that’s fine. - she breathed out. - They’re gonna let me go at some point, right? They can’t keep me forever.
    - Yeah, eventually someone else will screw up. - he scratched the back of his neck. - It’s nice he didn’t tie you down or handcuff you to the bed.
    - It’s a nice ... arrangement, I guess.
    - Do you wanna watch Carousel? It’s always rerunning on channel 6.
    - Are we allowed to watch TV? If you’re not allowed on the couch, I doubt the TV is a yes.
    - He won’t know.
The beginning of the film was bittersweet as it immediately took her back to better days. Back to when she rented her very first flat in New York while a sophomore at Julliard, when she only had her laptop and a few pillows which made the very old studio flat look like a home, she would sit down in the worn out mattress with her laptop and watch old golden age musicals dreaming of the time she would be on stage. The beginning notes of the overture only brought her back to nights when the rain was harshly falling down on the rain and she was sat in her, open books of several opera music theories lightened up by the low blue light of her laptop. She had fought so hard and she was going to fight even harder to get out of this. She was going to be back in those grounds and with heavy, sleep filled eyes, she swore she would get back to the stage.
Bucky parked the bike by the sidewalk, sighing as he realised he was not going to an empty home, the same empty home he had fought for. He liked peace and quiet, he liked to be surrounded by nothing but him and his thoughts yet now he had to come back to some girl staying in his house who was keen on breaking all off his windows. Just what he needed, someone coming into his home to fix the window. How was he going to achieve that?
He opened the door and threw the keys somewhere onto the table near the door. Billy was standing up by the couch, Carousel was playing on the TV and she was sleeping on the couch, surrounded by the fabric of the costume she still hadn’t taken off. Not that she had anything to change into.
   - She’s sweet. - Billy rubbed the sole of his shoe against the ground.
   - You think all girls are sweet. - Bucky walked to his kitchen, making himself a glass of whiskey. - You old enough to drink, kid?
    - I have to drive back home.
    - She behaved? - he moved the glass in her direction, eyes lingering a bit too long on her sleeping figure.
    - She fell asleep mid the film. Hm ... I’m gonna go. Thanks for everything, Bucky, specially with John.
    - You should get going, kid. Your mother and father will worry.
The sound of the closed door left the two of them alone once again. What was he supposed to do with her? How was he even supposed to do his ... his duties if he constantly needed someone to watch her so she doesn’t try to escape? Where is he even supposed to find someone to watch her? Kidnappingvictims babysitting.com? He sighed out of frustration, whipping his head in her direction almost upset she existed; yet, looking at her sleeping form calmed down his features.
He put the glass in the sink, walking to his couch where she was. Somehow he always ended up in tricky situations and this had to be in the top 5 worst decisions. Yet, she didn’t deserve dying, she didn’t deserve it. It wasn’t her fault any of this had happened. She was just at the wrong place, she was just somewhere she shouldn’t have been and Bucky couldn’t blame her for that. He put a hand on the couch and snaked an arm under her figure, lifting her up from the couch and holding her flush against his chest. Her head instinctually fell against his chest, nose nuzzling his black t-shirt.
There was nothing he could do now. In all honesty, he couldn’t think of anyone in his inner circle where she would be at least in safety. The group of people he hanged around weren’t particularly of high moral standards and he wasn’t a saint either, god, he was closer to being the devil than being a saint; yet, he knew things and he knew what awaited her if she had been assigned to anyone else. In his mind all of this would be over soon; either Billy or one of the newbies would screw up and get them in trouble with the police and then John would trade her in so he wouldn’t go to prison. It was only a matter of time.
He laid her down on his bed, pulling the comforter over her and taking a final look at her before exiting the room and taking to the couch. He pulled at the bottom of the furniture, the pillows unfolding to form a small bed which his feet would inevitably fall off, yet they didn’t make any bigger couches which turned into beds and he had never expected to have any company in his flat anyway. He too eventually fell asleep, lit by the low blue light of the TV.
The morning was a harsh reminder for Y/N that this whole situation was not a nightmare but her reality. Her hand pushed her torso off the bed, sleepish eyes looking around as she tried to figure out where she was. She didn’t remember falling asleep in a bed but that didn’t matter because she quickly realised she was alone. She couldn’t hear anything but the ambience sounds coming from the window. She was alone. As that thought registered, she kicked the comforter away from her body and settled her feet to the ground, rushing in silent steps to the door which she opened. Her eyes registered a clear path from where she was to the exit door whose chain was down. She bite on her lip before stepping out of the bedroom.
    - Where are you going? - the familiar voice stopped her in her tracks. Y/N considered making a run from it but just as she convinced herself of that idea, he stepped in front of her, standing like a big wall keeping her from freedom. He looked her down, like a small, inoffensive prey. She thought of running once more, but she was smart enough to know he would easily overpower her. - Where are you going?
    - Hm ... - think, anything, just think of anything. - The bathroom.
He scoffed, walking forward and towards her but she stepped back every time he got closer until her back hit the door. She stood there, small and wondering what to do as the man whose name she still did not know stood close to her, close enough she could almost feel the permeating heat coming from his body. His gloved fingers pinched her chin, pushing it up so her eyes looked into his. They were blue, a shade of blue she couldn’t really say she’d ever seen and maybe if she were in a different situation, she would’ve even said they were hypnotising. Yet, now, they just bore into hers, as if he was digging into her subconscious. He leaned closer, fingers still holding her chin up.
    - Liar. - his voice was deep and husky, deep enough it sounded like a whisper. He let go of her chin, stepping back and returning to the kitchen while she remained against the door. - We had a deal.
    - I know.
    - Are you trying to get yourself killed, kid? - he asked in a dry voice.
    - Don’t call me kid. - she didn’t know what else to say. What could she said after all? - It’s condescending.
    - You didn’t answer me, Y/N. - he emphasised her name. It sounded almost wrong for him to be calling her that, yet she guessed it was better than kid. Sure, he was definitely older than her but she wasn’t young enough to be called kid. She couldn’t even recall the last time someone called her kid. - Are you trying to get yourself killed?
    - No.
    - Then what are you doing?
    - I don’t know.
    - You need to trust me.
    - Why should I? I don’t know you, I don’t even know your name so why should I trust you? For all I know you could be lying to me.
    - You think I wanna play babysitting with you? I would much rather have a free home than have you run around in costume. - he glared at her. - And you don’t need to know my name, you need to do what I tell you to do if you wanna come out of this alive.
    - Well what if I don’t want to? - she narrowed her eyes.
    - You want to fucking die? Is that it? - he sneered. - Because that would’ve saved the fucking headache that you’ve been.
    - Maybe you should’ve killed me. You had no problem killing Tommy. - her words were mindless yet filled with some sort of anger. She didn’t realise what she had said until she saw his face.
His facade seemed to drop before his jaw clenched, eyes hardened as he raised his head to look her up and down. She held the knob of the door, ready to open it and escape into the bedroom but he didn’t do anything. He just looked at her, angry before he made a move yet he didn’t walk her direction, he merely opened the fridge to take a water bottle yet that look, that look still remained.
   - What do you want from me? - she pried. - I had a life, you know. I had plans and ...
   - So did I. You don’t wanna be a kid? Stop acting like one.
   - My parents don’t know where I am. - she followed him into the kitchen. - I am their only child and I call them everyday. At least, let me call them, let me tell them I’m safe.
   - I can’t, that’s not how things work.
   - So what? You’re just gonna keep me here? Forever?
   - Trust me, kid, it’s not exactly what I want either. It’s not my choice and it’s definitely not yours.
   - I am not gonna stop trying to escape.
   - Based on how well you’ve done so far, I wouldn’t hold my breathe.

My Father was a bad guy. He’s associated with one of the worst people I’ve ever met, Hiram Lodge. He was the absolute worst person, especially with how he was trying to buy up the area where my cousin lives! My Father didn’t seem to give any fucks about the ‘reject’ side of the family. I was done with his shit. I packed my stuff up and decided I was gonna move to Riverdale. I had called my cousin Toni before I made the decision and she agreed to let me stay there, after she talked our Nana of course. I was so excited to see her, it’s been forever! I made sure I grabbed some money from my Father and left for Riverdale. When I got there I knew no one from the Northside of town went there, so I started my walk from the bus stop. Lucky for me I didn’t bring everything I had, so it was easy to carry my shit. Once I crossed over to the Southside, I could instantly see the difference. It was like the town didn’t give a shit about this side. Toni really wasn’t lying. I was pretty sure I was close to the trailer park, but honestly wasn’t sure. I looked down at my phone to call Toni, but I ended up walking into someone.
“Hey, watch it bitch!” The guy growled and I looked up to see a guy in a black studded vest and dark eyeliner on.
“Sorry dude, no need to be an asshole.” I said and went to keep walking, but he grabbed my arm and stopped me.
“You’re new around here, clearly, so let me tell you how this works. I’m with the best gang in town, The Ghoulies, and you can’t talk that way to me. So, you’re gonna make it up to me.” He said with a smirk and looked me up and down. I rolled my eyes and got out of his grip.
“Yeah right, idiot.” I said and continued walking. I thought that would just be the end of it, but he grabbed me and slammed me against a wall. I hit my head, but it was probably just gonna leave a killer headache.
“Now you’re really gonna have to make it up to me.” He growled and pulled out a knife. My eyes widened and I gulped.
“Be a good girl and you won’t get hurt.” He smirked. I felt my blood run cold and I knew what was about to happen.
“Hey! Get the fuck off her!” Someone shouted and the guy looked back to see a tall guy with a snake tattoo on his neck. He must be with the Serpents, like Toni!
“This isn’t your business Snake.” He growled.
“I said-” Tall guy said, pulling out his own knife.
“Get the fuck off her.” He growled, stepping closer to him. The guy holding me had fear flash in his eyes, but recovered quickly.
“Whatever, bitch aint even worth it.” He said and shoved himself off me. He ran off and the tall guy walked up to me, putting his knife away.
“You alright?” He asked and I nodded, picking some of my stuff off the ground.
“Thanks, I just got into town and clearly don’t know much.” I said and he chuckled.
“Clearly. What are you doing here anyway? Who the hell wants to come to Riverdale?” He asked and I gave a small smile.
“I’m moving in with my cousin.” I answered and his eyes widened slightly.
“Is your cousin Toni Topaz?” He asked and my smile grew.
“Yeah, do you know her?” I asked and he smiled.
“She’s one of my best friends.” He chuckled.
“Thank God, I was just about to call her because I might be a little lost.” I laughed.
“Where are you trying to go?” He asked.
“Sunnyside Trailer Park.” I answered and he laughed.
“Yeah, you’re a little lost. How about I give you a ride.” He offered and I smiled.
“Really? That’d be great!” I said and he walked over to his bike.
“Hop on.” He said. I got on the back, while keeping my stuff on my arms, and wrapped my arms around his waist.
“I’m Sweet Pea by the way.” He said and I smiled.
“Y/N Y/L/N.” I answered and he smiled back.
“Hold on tight.” He said and we sped off. I’ve never been on a motorcycle before, but I was loving it! We made it to Toni’s trailer pretty quickly and Sweet Pea helped me carry my stuff to the door. I knocked and Toni answered with a huge smile.
“Y/N/N!” She said and pulled me in for a hug.
“Sweet Pea? What are you doing here?” She asked, confused.
“Y/N here got herself into trouble with a Ghoulie, I was riding by and saved her.” He answered and Toni’s eyes widened.
“What? Are you okay?” He asked and I smiled.
“I’m fine T, Sweet Pea saved me before that idiot could do anything.” I said and she sighed in relief.
“Well, thanks Pea.” She said and Sweet Pea smiled back.
“Of course Toni.” He said.
“Alright, well I’ll see you later tonight.” She said and Sweet Pea nodded.
“Why don’t you come along?” He asked.
“Where?” I asked.
“The Wyrm. It’s the bar I work at and also the Serpents hang out.” She answered and I shrugged.
“Yeah sure, sounds like fun.” I smiled.
“Awesome, well I’ll see you guys later, I gotta go meet up with Fangs.” Sweet Pea said and left.
“Fangs?” I asked and Toni chuckled.
“I’ll introduce you later.” She said, pulling me inside.
“Why does everyone have such weird names around here?” I asked and she laughed.
“They’re nicknames, I’m sure you’ll get your own soon enough.” She said.
The two of us spend the day unpacking and catching up. I realized that I didn’t know my cousin as well as I thought I did. I mean, how the hell did I not know she was bisexual!? She said that she was more into girls than guys though. Talking with her made me realize I made the right decision to come here. When it hit seven she told me we were going to the bar. I was excited to see where she worked, it sounded like a really cool place. When we got there everyone looked our way, most people greeted Toni and looked at me weirdly.
“Yo Toni! Over here!” A short guy shouted and Toni pulled me along with her.
“Hey guys, this is my cousin Y/N, Y/N this is Fangs, Jughead, and well you met Sweet Pea already.” She introduced me.
“Toni! Let’s go!” An older man called her and she looked at me.
“Sorry, gotta work. Jones, mind keeping an eye on these two for me?” She asked.
“What? Why us?” The short guy, Fangs, asked.
“Because, I don’t trust you two around my cousin.” She said and Sweet Pea rolled his eyes.
“I literally saved her from a Ghoulie earlier.” He said and Toni just shrugged. “Don’t care, you two are the biggest flirts in the world and I wouldn’t be surprised if you got her drunk.” She said and walked off.
“She’s always been protective.” I laughed.
“I think Toni left something out when she was telling us about you.” Fangs said and I furrowed my brow.
“What?” I asked.
“She didn’t mention how cute you are.” He said and I couldn’t help but blush.
“This is exactly why Toni asked me to watch you too.” Jughead said, rolling his eyes.
“Yo Hogeye! Two beers!” Sweet Pea called and the man that called my cousin nodded. He brought Sweet Pea two beers and he offered one to me. I smiled and took it from him.
“That’s the other reason.” Jughead sighed.
“She’ll be fine Jones.” Sweet Pea said and I smiled.
“Yeah, it’s just one beer.” I said.
Getting to know Toni’s friends was awesome! Jughead shared the same sense of humor I did, he was smart, passionate, and just seemed like he’d be an awesome friend. Fangs was really cool, he was a flirt, but not as much as Sweet Pea was, and he seemed genuinely caring and sweet. Sweet Pea clearly had a sense of loyalty, but had a short temper. I knew that I would get along with everyone easily and I would really like living here.
*Six Months Later*
I’ve been here for half a year now and I haven’t heard anything from my Father, surprisingly. I had joined the Serpents, which everyone was very supportive of. Toni felt more like a sister to me than a cousin now and it was amazing. Jughead and I were good friends, but Sweet Pea and Fangs had become my best friends. I found myself crushing on both of them for different reasons and I felt a little guilty about it…
I was currently at the bar working, but Toni had off tonight. She was helping Nana with something at home. I was watching Sweets and Fangs playing pool and smiled at the boys. They were betting like always and I smirked, Sweet Pea was bound to win, like always. I have never once seen Fangs beat him. The two of them walked up to the bar and Sweet Pea looked very smug, while Fangs looked sad.
“Let me guess, Fangs is buying again?” I asked.
“You know it Angel.” Sweets said with a smirk.
“Maybe you’ll buy for me too when I get off in an hour?” I asked, batting my eyelashes slightly.
“Of course Cutie, anything for you.” Fangs said and I felt my heart flutter at each of their nicknames for me.
“Perfect, well here you go, two beers.” I said, placing the bottles on the bar.
When I finally got off work I went to go find my two friends. I thought they would just be at the bar, but they weren’t. I was confused and decided to look near the pool table, sure enough they were there playing another game.
“I thought you guys already played your game for tonight? What are you doing an all or nothing thing?” I asked and the two turned to face me.
“Uh, yeah…” Fangs said and I looked at the two confused.
“What are you guys betting this time?” I asked and they looked at each other.
“If you wanna try and come up with a lie, you might wanna be a little more discreet about it.” I said with a small smirk. Sweet Pea sighed and looked back at me.
“Fine, we were playing to see who got to ask you out…” He said and my eyes widened.
“W-What?” I asked with a blush.
“Hypothetically, who would you say yes to?” Fangs asked with a hopeful smile.
“Dude, you can’t just ask her that!” Sweets said.
“Why not? It’s not like we can just finish the game and do the bet now.” He said and the two looked back at me.
“So?” Fang asked.
“U-Uh, honestly?” I asked and they nodded.
“Both of you.” I answered and their eyes widened.
“What?” They asked at the same time.
“Honestly, I have a crush on both of you. I’ve been feeling a little guilty about it because you’re both amazing and if I dated one I would still like the other and that just not fair.” I answered and they looked at each other then smiled.
“What if you didn’t have to date just one?” Fangs asked.
“Huh?” I asked.
“What if you dated both of us?” Sweets asked and my eyes widened.
“What, like a poly relationship?” I asked and they nodded.
“And you both would be alright with that?” I asked.
“Hey, if I have to share you with someone I’d rather it be my best friend.” Sweets answered.
“Yeah, besides we’ve hooked up with each other before so there’s clearly some feelings there.” Fangs laughed and my eyes widened.
“Really?” I asked and they nodded. A smile slowly made its way onto my face and I looked at the two boys I was attracted to.
“I think this is a great idea.” I said and Sweets instantly pulled me to him.
“You have no idea how happy you just made me with those words Angel.” He said and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back.
“Hey! She’s my girl now too!” Fangs whined and pulled me away from Pea and crashed his lips onto mine. I smiled and laughed slightly.
“Hey!” Sweets growled and I pulled away from Fangs.
“Alright, rule number one, no fighting over each other.” I said and they looked at each other.
“Fine, but he can’t hog you!” They said at the same time and I laughed.
“You two were made for each other.” I said and hugged both of them. This town just keeps getting better for me!

Late Night Answers
Ectoberhaunt Day 5: Witching hour vs Twilight
Fandom: Danny Phantom
Rating: G
Characters: Danny Fenton, Kitty, Johnny 13
Tags: Witching hour, ghost culture?
Danny keeps waking up in the middle of the night. The same exact time every night. He decides to take a flight around town and runs into a couple ghosts who're willing to give him some answers.
Read on AO3 here.
Danny’s eyes opened. It was night. Above him, the stars on his ceiling gave off a dim glow. He was still wrapped in his blanket. There was no cold ache in his throat that would indicate his ghost sense had woken him up.
He glanced at his alarm clock. The red numbers read 3:00. Danny grumbled and turned on his side, away from the clock, and tried to go back to sleep. This was the third night this had happened. For the last two nights he’d woken up at exactly three in the morning for no reason. He’d tossed and turned in bed until around four.
This night apparently wasn’t much different. He laid in bed for about ten minutes, but his brain just kept going back to worries about the next day. It wasn’t restful at all. Danny sat up and wiped the sleep from his eyes. If he was going to be awake for a while, he should at least do something useful.
In a flash of light Danny transformed. He flew through the wall into the chilly night air. He could feel the cold against his face, but it didn’t bother him like it would a normal human. There was no moon tonight - it had set before nightfall - but he could see perfectly well. Danny decided to head towards the city park. The night was fairly quiet. There were some cars on the roads, but not very many. Just a few night shift workers and late night travelers.
His ghost sense went off when he was halfway to the park. It felt familiar: kind of spiky but not painful or aggressive. Danny was slowly getting better at identifying ghosts based on how his ghost sense felt, but it was more of an art than a science. He had no idea who this could be. Who would be out at the park in the middle of the night and not causing havoc?
The sound reached him before he saw who it was. A motorcycle revved its engines, and someone shrieked in joy. It had to be Johnny, Shadow, and Kitty. Danny landed near the park fountain. They didn’t seem to be causing much trouble aside from being loud. He sat on the edge of the fountain and waited for them to come around again. It wasn’t long before Johnny’s ghostly bike flew in from the opposite area from where they’d left. As expected, Kitty was hugging Johnny as he did some spins that would have been dangerous if they’d still been alive. They rose up on the front wheel of the bike and spun three times before landing again. Then Johnny pulled into an empty parking spot in front of the fountain.
“Hey, kid,” Johnny called. “Surprised it took you so long to come out.”
Danny shrugged. “Didn’t seem like you were really causing trouble tonight.”
Behind Johnny, Kitty giggled. “You mean the last three nights?” she asked.
That got his attention. Danny floated up into a standing position, though his feet didn’t touch the ground. “What do you mean?” he asked. “What’ve you been doing?”
“Chill out, kid,” Johnny said. He got off his bike and offered his hand to Kitty. She grabbed it and jumped down from the bike. “We’ve just been riding around. Witching hour season, you know how it is."
Danny didn’t know exactly what Johnny meant, but he had a feeling it had to do with why he kept waking up. “I keep waking up at three,” he admitted, settling down to stand on the ground. “What’s that about?”
“How long’ve you been a ghost?” Kitty asked. “Or, whatever you are.”
Danny’s eyes flashed. “A little over a year.”
Kitty put a finger up to her chin. “And you didn’t notice last year? That’s a little weird, with how strong you are.”
“You guys kept me up almost every night for three months straight last year,” Danny grumbled. He was still a little bitter about that. It had ruined his grades. Now that he’d cemented his ownership of Amity Park, ghosts didn’t try to challenge him as much, but it had been a really awful for a while.
“Oh, right.” Kitty at least had the manners to look embarrassed. “Well, this time of night is when we’re more… present, I guess?” She looked at Johnny for confirmation, but he just shrugged. Kitty frowned and looked back at Danny. “The closer we get to Halloween, the more it affects us. I can be out of the Zone a little bit longer, Johnny and Shadow can ride faster, that sort of thing.”
On the one hand, Danny was glad to get some kind of answer for why he kept waking up. On the other… “So I’m gonna wake up in the middle of the night for no reason for a month?”
“Two months,” Johnny corrected. “Sorry, Phantom. It doesn’t just stop on November first.”
Danny sagged. He wiped a hand across his face in frustration. “Great. Thanks for telling me. I guess I could… get homework done,” he said weakly. It sounded like the worst possible thing to do in the middle of the night.
Johnny and Kitty stared at him and then burst out laughing. Danny glared until they quieted down enough to talk.
“Oh, Ancients, you’re such a goody-two-shoes,” Johnny snorted. “That’s awful. No, kid, this is ghost time. You can’t do lame shit like homework.”
“What do you want to do?” Kitty asked. “Really? Do you wanna do homework, or… I dunno, fight people? What do you even do when you’re having fun as a ghost?”
Danny frowned. “I don’t have fun as a ghost.” He gestured to his glowing, jumpsuit-clad form. “I’m only like this when I have to fight ghosts.”
The ghosts shared a glance before looking back at Danny. “That’s really sad, kid,” Kitty said. She brushed a lock of hair back behind her ear. “Do you even know what you’re like as a ghost?”
He blinked at her. “I mean… I’m me? I’m more, uh. Protective of stuff.” He blushed green and looked away. He didn’t really like thinking about all the weird ghost instincts that had popped up over the last year. It made him worry about being less human.
Johnny snorted. “No shit. You spent the last year beating the crap out of anyone who laid a foot in your territory.” Kitty elbowed him in the gut.
“Come on, Johnny, he was just a mote. We weren’t too chill for a few years, either.”
“Ow! Babe, we weren’t… you know!” Johnny waved at Danny, indicating his whole self. Danny raised an eyebrow.
“You did kind of try to take over my sister’s body and then possessed one of my classmates,” he reminded her.
Kitty rolled her eyes. “Yeah, but that was before I knew you were just a kid. Like, really a kid. Most ghosts don’t get near as strong as you in their first year, you know. We both thought you were super old but just acted like you were a kid.”
“Even though my human form looks just like me?” Danny asked, crossing his arms.
“Yeah?” Kitty said with a shrug. “Look, the only other one like you we’d heard about was the old guy. He’s been the same age for like, fifteen years or whatever. Why would we think you were any different?”
A lot of questions crossed Danny’s mind. Did that mean Vlad stopped aging? He knew the fruitloop looked weirdly young, even though he had grey hair, but he figured that was botox or something. Did that mean Danny was going to stop aging in a couple years? He was pretty sure he had grown some in the last year, but what if-
No, he had immediate things to deal with. These two probably didn’t know any of the answers to those questions.
“Okay, so, let me get this straight,” Danny said, “Witching hour is for doing ghost stuff. And I’m supposed to figure out what I like to do as a ghost, so I can do it for a couple months.”
“I guess?” Johnny said with a frown. “Not like we had to figure that out.”
Danny picked up his feet so he was hovering a couple feet above the ground in a seated position, one leg dangling and the other hiked up so his knee was in front of his torso. “I guess I like flying? It’s pretty nice. I can go over a hundred miles an hour.”
“Yeah, we can tell,” Kitty said, a hint of a laugh in her voice. She picked up her legs too so she hovered in a cross-legged position in front of him. “That’s not really a you thing, though, is it? Most ghosts like flying.”
“I still prefer the bike,” Johnny said.
“Objection noted, sweet heart,” Kitty teased. “You like protecting the town, right? Maybe you should fly around to make sure it’s okay?”
It wasn’t a bad idea, but something about it felt sour. “I do that all evening anyway,” Danny grumbled. “It’s not like I hate it, I just… It’s not fun.”
Kitty hummed. Danny was very glad she didn’t poke at that. Fighting ghosts could be fun sometimes, but mostly it was something he felt driven to do. He didn’t enjoy it like he would playing a game, or watching a meteor shower, or…
His eyes lit up. “There’s two meteor showers this month,” he said, remembering it suddenly. “The Draconids are in just a couple of days, and then the Orionids near the end of the month.”
“That’s like shooting stars, right?” Kitty asked.
“Exactly. It's rocks from space burning up in the atmosphere,” Danny said, a smile spreading across his face. Why hadn’t he thought about this before? He could get up above the clouds, away from the light pollution. “I bet I could get the best view in town now.”
“Of course he’s a nerd,” Johnny grumbled. Kitty shushed him.
“That sounds like a great thing to enjoy,” Kitty said to Danny. “Wanna ride with us one day and get out of town? Away from the lights?”
Danny hesitated. “You’d be okay with that?” He glanced from her to Johnny. Kitty seemed friendly enough when they weren’t fighting, but Johnny was the one who drove the bike.
Johnny frowned for a moment. He looked back at his bike. Danny could practically see the gears turning in his head. Finally Johnny turned back to Danny and said, “If it gets us out of this dump, yeah, we’ll take you stargazing.”
Before he knew what he was doing, Danny was hugging Johnny. “Holy shit thank you I haven’t gone in years I won’t let you regret it.”
After a few moments had passed, Johnny gently put his hand on Danny’s shoulder. “H-hey, it’s no big deal, kid.”
Far in the distance, a church bell rang.
“Well, that’s our cue,” Kitty said. “Same time tomorrow?”
Danny straightened up, a little embarrassed that he’d just hugged Johnny of all people. “Yeah. See you then.”
When he made it back to his bed, he fell asleep instantly.

*gif not mine*
Since your father died you have been supporting your mother Pepper and your younger sister Morgan. Pepper was not your biological mother but she always took care of you, even before she and your father started dating.
Without your dad and Nat and Steve, the Avengers seemed more lost than ever. You still helped and were Sam's backup on his missions but it wasn't the same. Your whole family had fallen apart, Thor was with the guardians of the galaxy, Clint retired, Bruce had enough with the avengers, and Wanda was taking some time for herself. You were left with Sam and Bucky. You were pretty good friends with Sam, but with Bucky...... let's just say it's complicated. You liked him for a while, but you didn't want to put your father in an uncomfortable situation, so you always put him first, even if it was very hard sometimes.
One day you were just relaxing on the couch when you looked at the tv and saw the news report saying that the criminal Zemo had escaped from prison. You immediately called Sam.
"Pick up Sam, come on-" you said.
you heard a voice on the other side " y/n? is everything okay?" you heard Sam´s voice
"No! Zemo has escaped from prison in case you haven't heard the news!"
" Really?!" he said but not very convincingly
You started to get suspicious. He seemed to already know about what was happening, but if he knew, why didn't he tell you? unless.....
"You're with him, aren't you?" you said straight out. "no, no, no, why would you think that y/n?" he was really trying to convince you
"Why did you do that Sam?! you know it's dangerous, what the hell were you thinking?"
" relax y/n. me and Bucky need him for a mission, he is just a means to an end" he finally said
"Are you with Bucky?" you asked. You missed him even if he was just a friend, he was special to you.
"Yes, but he is fine, don't worry! I have to go now! Goodbye, take care y/n"
he hung up.
Sam knew about your little crush on Bucky. He was like a best friend to you and if you couldn't count on his advice, then you wouldn't count on anyone.
Like your father you always wanted to help the Avengers in any way you could, so obviously you wouldn't be left out of this mission. In one of the upgrades you made to Sam's suit you added a tracker device in case he was kidnapped. It was the perfect time to use it! You pulled up a chair, sat down, and began tinkering with the gadgets your father had previously bought and used. You wanted him to be here with you but unfortunately, that was impossible so keeping his legacy alive was the closest you could get.
"Yes, found you!" You shouted in joy
"What city is this? Ma... Madripoor?" you asked yourself
"Well I hope it's worth it Sam Wilson because otherwise I'm gonna kick your ass"
You called Happy to get a flight for you. It was hard to convince him but you managed to convince him by saying you needed a short vacation.
* After 5 hours
You finally got to your destination, it felt like it took days to get there. Madripoor was a poor, dark and dirty city, you didn't like it there at all.
You got on your bike and headed towards the location of the suit. After about 10 minutes you arrived where Sam and Bucky were supposed to be according to your device.
"But this is just a car!" you said angrily.
Suddenly you heard gunshots and breaking glass and three unrecognizable men, at first.
"Y/N?! What the fuck are you doing here!?" Sam shouted, placing you behind a container to protect you from the bullets that were being fired at the four of you.
"Stand back!" you shouted at them, standing up.
You quickly took out the gun that was stuck inside your long leather jacket. You pointed the gun and in three seconds and without making a sound the gunshots stopped, just like magic.
"What the fuck was that? " Sam said surprised
" I am so confused but that shits amazing," bucky said with his mouth open giving a small smile.
"what are you waiting for?!! to die? get in the car now!" you shouted at them
The four of you ran quickly to the car and got in. Zemo started the car and luckily you managed to escape in time.
"what was that y/n?" sam asked
" it's just a prototype I made from a project my dad was working on before.... you know what. it works with extremely strong lasers that can demagnetize any weapon."
" That's fucking awesome!" Bucky said
you smiled. you loved being praised for your work but being praised by Bucky felt different to you.
" Well, thank you, Bucky!"
" Don't thank Bucky. I appreciate what you did back there but this is super dangerous. Your dad and Steve wouldn't approve any of this and-" you interrupted him.
"Guess what? My dad's not here! Why? Because he sacrificed his life to save the world! And Uncle Steve isn't here anymore, so stop thinking about what they would think of me!"
sam looked at you with concern. He felt obligated to protect you since your father couldn't.
For a moment the car was filled in awkward silence until Zemo decided to open his mouth.
"No one told me about a fourth member of the team. Sorry, pretty girl, but you won't be able to continue this trip with us" Zemo said.
"You are not in charge of anything, we are. If y/n hadn't appeared out of anywhere, we would be probably dead. So I advise you to keep your mouth shut and play your only role if you don't want to go to prison again" Bucky said with his eyes fixed firmly on Zemo.
Zemo swallowed.
" well, but there aren't enough beds," Zemo said in a low voice, barely audible.
" don't worry, she can sleep in my bed, I sleep on the floor," Bucky said without even blinking
You felt butterflies in your stomach. You were going to be in the same space as Bucky for more than 5 minutes, you were nervous that you would say something stupid or give him the wrong idea.
"Oh, you don't have to.
(oh yes, you do.)
" Of course I do. " Bucky looked at you with intensity as if he needed to do this.
* after 20 minutes*
"These are your rooms. All beds are already made and your bags will be taken to your respective rooms Mr. Zemo" the woman said.
"Thank you, my dear," Zemo said kissing the lady's hand
"Well, these are your rooms. I don't want anything ruined and I don't want any noise because I am very tired. Good night fellows" Zemo went directly to his room and closed the door leaving the three of you alone.
" I'm just going downstairs to see if they can get me an extra blanket," Bucky said leaving you and Sam alone. Things between you two were still a little awkward from earlier.
" y/n, I don't want us to be on bad terms. You have to understand that I care about you" Sam broke the silence
" Sam, I know and I care about you too, but you have to realize that we are almost the same age and I don't need to have a babysit."
"I know, I know. No hard feelings?"
"No hard feelings," you said shaking his hand and pulling him for a hug
"So, what's this about you sleeping in the same room as Bucky? y/n I'm watching you like a falcon" sam joked
"Relax! He's just a friend from work"
" I have the blanket here. I'm going to bed now, good night". Bucky said to you two
"oh, I'm going with you, that way I can help you make your bed. it's the least I can do since you don´t let me sleep on the floor"
You both said your goodbyes to sam and went to your room.
Bucky spread out a blanket next to the bed where you were going to stay and laid down.
"You´re not gonna even put a pillow? Take this one I have too many." you said to him
"No! I don't want a pillow" Bucky said, throwing you the pillow again.
You got up and started to make his "bed" more comfortable. "You're not going to sleep on the floor like that, Buck-" he interrupted what you were doing by grabbing your arm and looking you straight in the eye. "I don't need that y/n. I'm used to sleeping on the floor."
You looked at him shocked. "You are used to it?!"
"Yes," he said hesitantly.
"Why Bucky?" you asked.
"  I don't feel comfortable enough to sleep in a fluffy comfortable bed, not after all the people I have killed and all the lives I ruined. Every night I have nightmares to remind me of that" he said as if it was something natural to him.
" Buck....... You can't feel that way. You deserve a hundred soft, comfortable beds, you deserve to have a happy life. You didn't kill those people, you didn't ruin those people's lives, HYDRA did. There are people who care about you, I care about you."
"You care about me? You said yourself that I was just a friend from work, and I understand and respect that y/n, I knew we were just that."
"That was me joking with Sam. I wish you were just a work friend, it would have saved me some heartbreaks."
" heartbreaks?" you could see by Bucky´s confused face that he had zero idea of what you were talking about.
" are you going to tell me that you never noticed that I liked you and cared differently about you?"
" NO!" he said surprised
"Okay, I understand. We can still be work friends Buck I mean it, I don't want to put you into another bad situation-" the touch of his lips against yours interrupted your speech.
"I never wanted to be just your friend from work" he sighed.
"me neither," you said kissing him again
You make out for about 5 minutes. when you finally let each other out of your arms, you got up and took the blanket that was on your bed and your pillow and put it next to Bucky. "what are you doing?" he looked confused.
"Did you really thought I was going to let you sleep alone on this cold uncomfortable floor?"
"y/n-" you interrupted him with a kiss. "Yes?" you asked. "I don't want you to sleep here on this horrible floor. you will go back to your warm comfortable bed and sleep" he said with a straight face
"Bucky, either you come with me to this warm bed or I will sleep here with you. it's your call baby"
he smiled and sighed. " you are the worst" he mumbled throwing you on the bed making you giggle. You walked over to him and grabbed his hand and kissed it.
"I promise you that you deserve all of this Buck" you whispered.
he kissed you again passionately to thank you for what you had done for him. You both laid down. You put your head on top of his chest and he put his arms on top of your back, you were finally able to sleep.
* later that night*
you began to hear a voice whispering something making you wake up.
"I HAVE TO, I HAVE TO DO THIS" Bucky sighed in the middle of sleeping.
Bucky was having a nightmare. He was sweating and he was gasping for breath.
"Buck? babe, it's just a nightmare" you whispered caressing his cheeks with the back of your fingers.
Suddenly he gets up, still heavy breathing, and sits in the bed.
" What's happening," he said in mid-breath. "You were having a nightmare babe.". You put your arms around him making him feel safe." it's okay" you said.
When he finally let go you stood up and start walking toward the door
"where are you going?" He asked with a puppy face
" don't worry, I'm just gonna get something to calm you down"
when you came back with the hot chamomile tea you had made for him, Bucky was still sitting on the bed with his hands on his head.
" here, this is going to help you. my dad always made me this when I woke up in the middle of the night"
" thank you for taking care of me," he said
" James Buchan Barnes I will be here to make sure you sleep like a baby for the rest of your life."
and he did.

My contribution to DP Side Hoes Week 2021 day 1! Character: Mr. Lancer Theme: Reflection
---
William Lancer stood in front of the mirror, fastening his tie with practiced fingers. He pulled the fabric down, completing the knot, and straightened it before him.
There. Now he was ready to start his day.
Well, almost.
He picked up the steaming mug of coffee off his dresser and sipped it, cherishing the warmth. It was early, too early. No matter how much his parents told him he would get used to waking up early for work every day as an adult, he never seemed to get the hang of it.
He stifled a yawn, noting the bags under his eyes and creasing forehead as he stared at his reflection in the mirror. Teaching had aged him, there was no doubt. Between preparing the lesson plans, grading assignments, editing papers, meeting with parents, tutoring students—not to mention the dreaded administrative meetings—it was really no surprise that teaching had slowly worn him down over the years.
But he wasn’t sure he could ever walk away. At least, not for a few more decades.
He headed downstairs, swiping his keys off his kitchen counter and starting the familiar drive to school.
Teaching wasn’t all bad, it wasn’t all weary, thankless work. The students, though hormonal and immature they could be, kept him going every day. Watching their eyes light up as they understood a concept, seeing them succeed in their athletic or creative ventures, those were the small moments he cherished. The parts of his days that he yearned for.
He parked and strolled into the school, coffee still in hand. The hallways, though empty now, would soon be teaming with life as the students slowly made their way to school. And though they’d be tired at first, slowly throughout the day the voices in the halls would get louder, more lively, as the day picked up steam.
He said a few obligatory greetings to his coworkers, grabbed a few files from his office, and then headed to the printer room. He had a few worksheets he needed to print out for his students today.
“Will!” Tom Falluca greeted him. A copy machine buzzed next to him, spitting out papers.
“Hey, Tom.” Edward set his mug down on a spare table. It always amazed him how lively Tom seemed to be in the morning. “Happy Friday.”
“And to you! Got any plans for the weekend?”
William shrugged. His weekends tended to all be the same, with him switching off between prepping for school, emails, reading, and video games. Not that he told anyone about the latter hobby. It would have been rather unprofessional of him to admit to such a thing. “I’ll probably get started on my book club book. It’s a rather interesting one I believe. Well, according to Jane from the history department it is. But that woman will read anything, so I take her recommendations with a grain of salt. How about you?”
“My wife’s sister will be in town this weekend, so we’ll be hosting them.”
“Oh, that will be fun. Is she the one with the kids?”
“Yup, although they’ll be spending the weekend with their grandparents, so we won’t have them this time. It’ll just be Alice and her husband. I think we’ll probably go biking around the city on Saturday and then go out to dinner and a bar.”
“I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.” William pressed a button, whirring his copy machine to life. “Kids can be such a handful.”
“Oh, you’re telling me! I still have one at home, although he’s old enough now to be able to take care of himself for a day.”
“That’s the good thing about you working here, isn’t it? He would never be able to get away with a house party.”
Tom chuckled. “Heavens, no. The rumor mill works too well for that.”
William hummed, swapping a paper out of the copy machine with another.
“If any of your students look despondent today, it’s because they got their math test back,” Tom said.
“Not a good one?”
“Well, for the most part it went okay. But there were a few scores that were a bit lower than expected, and the usual suspects didn’t do well either...”
William didn’t miss the implication of that last comment. “You mean Mr. Fenton and Mr. Baxter.”
“Dash didn’t do great, but I spoke with his parents about arranging him with a math tutor last week and they seemed to agree with the idea, especially since I know he’s starting to think about college recruitment. But Danny!” He let out a sharp breath and rubbed his temples with the tips of his fingers. “Good grief, I don’t know what to do with that kid.”
William recalled the essay he graded from Mr. Fenton earlier this weekend. It was a garbled blend of English words that could only have been written by someone who couldn’t even bother to read the Sparknotes of the novel. For a while, William suspected dyslexia. But he had seen Mr. Fenton’s work after being forced to study in the classroom after school, and while he certainly wasn’t on the same level as his sister, he had shown to be able to produce legible, comprehensible papers when he put the time into it.
It was almost too easy to write him off as just another lazy student. And sometimes, William did do that. But he knew that deep down there was a much, much larger issue at play.
He just didn’t know what that issue was.
“Fenton is a rather interesting case,” William finally said. “Truthfully, I haven’t been able to figure out how to handle him either.”
“It would be much easier if his parents would get involved. I’ve sent emails, but they just apologize for his performance and promise that they’ll talk to him. He doesn’t need to be talked to, he needs real intervention, and I can’t do that if his parents won’t agree to it.”
“I’ve had similar issues,” William admitted. Jack and Maddie Fenton were an unfortunate roadblock in his progress with Daniel. At the moment, it seemed detentions were the only way he could actually get Mr. Fenton to be forced into doing schoolwork at all. And even then, half the time Mr. Fenton would either not show up to the detention, or he’d pull one of his infamous disappearing acts halfway.
“I don’t know.” Tom shook his head. “Every so often, you get a student like this. I know, I’ve been at this job for almost thirty years. I know we’re not heroes, we can’t save everyone. But it still is such a damn shame to see a student with so much potential slip through the cracks.”
“I agree.”
At this rate, Mr. Fenton would amount to nothing more than just another failed statistic. He would just slip through the cracks.
William hated to think about it.
“We can’t save them all, Tom, but I’ll see about trying to get Madeline and Jack Fenton into my office again with the guidance counselor.”
“Theresa’s good. Maybe she’ll get through to them.”
William shrugged and collected his papers. It wouldn’t have been the first time that Theresa, Mr. Fenton’s parents, and himself had sat down together to discuss Daniel’s performance. But it was always the same response, just a, “We never had these issues from Jazz!” from the father and a, “I’m so sorry, I’ll talk to him,” from the mother. Any suggestions of a 504 plan was shut down before William could finish his sentence.
“He’s never had these issues before. We’ll talk some sense into him!” Jack Fenton had said.
There had been students in past years who had parents that spoke like this. Opposed to alternative methods, so sure they alone could “talk some sense” into their teen as if that would solve all their academic issues.
It never ended well.
William shuffled off to homeroom, one hand clutching his photocopied papers and the other holding a nearly empty mug of coffee.
He wasn’t sure how to get through to Daniel. He wasn’t sure how to convince his parents that Daniel needed extra help, and that was okay. It wasn’t a sign of intelligence, or lack thereof.
But he needed to figure it out.
He refused to let Mr. Fenton become another statistic.

Y/N bit her lip at his touch, feeling his anger and need to protect her from their bond. She lifts her hands to wrap around his shoulders and behind his neck instinctively, taking a deep breath. Nobody except Natasha knew the story but she knew she could trust Bucky with the truth, “Sometimes it still feels like I’m still laying there on the floor, watching the sun rise through the window and trying to stay awake and alive.” She whispers softly. This was a side of her she thought she lost the night her twin tried to kill her, the part that wanted to trust and be loved. Her soulmate bond to Bucky pulled the truth out of her, wanting to be honest with him. Let him see all the broken and torn up pieces inside her, “Sometimes it feels like the scar still burns, like it’s an open wound I can’t get rid of telling me I should’ve died. I hate it.”
Bucky frowned at her words against her neck, picking her up by her hips and moving to lay her on the bed. He crawled on top of Y/N, looking into her eyes with his stormy blue ones, “Darling, that scar proves you are a survivor.” He whispered down to her, lifting her shirt with one hand to expose the scar. He looked down it as he traced his flesh fingers along it, causing goosebumps to appear on her skin at his touch, “It’s a part of you, and it may be a dark part of you, but it’s still something that made you who you are. And as much as I hate that you went through that, I’m also grateful it made you a strong, bad-ass woman.” He smirks at her slightly, crawling down and brushing his lips over her scar, kissing the raised skin softly. He grinned when he heard a small whimper pass her lips, “My strong, bad-ass woman. And I will spend the rest of my life kissing this scar so when you look at it, you only think of me.”
Chapter Five -
Bucky did as he said, he kept kissing along her scar that rested on her hip. Y/N’s fingers tangled in his hair, pulling his head upwards so that she was looking into his eyes. His eyes locked onto her’s and he had never felt so calm yet so on fire all at the same time. He lifted a hand to brush the skin on her cheek, watching her shiver slightly at the touch of his cold vibranium fingers.
Y/N bit her lip as she watched Bucky above her, studying his features. It was odd, she had never felt this way before when a man had looked at her. She could blame it all on her soulmate bond to him but the way he looked at her like she was the most beautiful creature he’d laid eyes on made her stomach fill with butterflies that she long thought had shriveled up and died in her stomach. Her attention broke from him when she hears her phone ringing. Y/N quickly shimmied herself out from under Bucky’s muscular frame and pulled her phone out of her pocket, pressing it to her ear, “Weasel, I thought you kicked me out.” She said into the speaker with a smile, listening to Weasel talk on the other end, “No, of course I want a job. I’ll come by and collect the card.” She said then snaps the phone shut.
Bucky adjusted on the bed to lay on his side, watching Y/N talk on the phone. Of course, he had heard every word from the other side of the speaker. Bucky couldn’t help but feel like the moment they are having was ruined, but he knew it’d take a little bit for Y/N to get comfortable with the fact she had a soulmate. He slowly stood up, watching her curiously, “I don’t know if taking a job is the best thing to do right now. Wouldn’t want to cause a scene that could lead your brother right to you.” He said, walking closer to her.
Y/N watched Bucky walk towards her, smiling a little at his words, “Oh no, wouldn’t want that.” She told him, placing the phone back into her pocket, “You coming or not?” She asks as she stepped around him and walked towards his bedroom door.
“Where are we going?” Bucky asks, following her closely as he shrugged his leather jacket back on over his shoulders.
“To do a job and cause a scene.” Y/N replied mischievously.
As much as Bucky thought this was the wrong decision, he felt he already knew Y/N well enough to know there wasn’t going to be much of an argument and she was going to do what she wanted so he may as well stick around to protect her. Bucky led her to the garage where he swung his legs over his motorcycle, watching as she straddled his bike behind him. His grin grew when he felt her arms wrap around her waist, “Hold on, doll.”
Y/N rolled her eyes slightly, “Not my first time I’ve been on a motorcycle, lover boy. Let’s go.” She said softly into the back of his ear, smiling when the bike roared to life and they zoomed out of the facility and down the long driveway. It didn’t take long for them to arrive outside of Sister Margaret’s School for Wayward Children. Y/N slid off the back of the bike, “Stay here, I won’t be long. This is the only entrance anyhow so you might as well play look out.” She told him before disappearing through the doors. Y/N stood at the end of the bar, quickly catching the attention of Weasel.
“Here’s your card.” Weasel said in a hushed voice, passing it over to Y/N and grabbing her out a beer to make it look like it was just a casual conversation, “You know what a gold card like that means.”
Y/N looked at Weasel suspiciously before slowly flipping the card over to reveal a name. The front of this card was different. Usually the cards were pure gold except for a small chip and a name, but this one had the chip, the name, and a red skull next to the name. Y/N quickly flipped the card back over and placed it on the bar with her palm, not wanting any wondering eyes to see it, “You seen him around lately?” The red skull signified it was a fellow mercenary to hunt down, and this name was one she recognized.
Weasel shook his head, “Hadn’t seen him for a while, but he did come around the night you went to the fancy gala. He was coming around asking for you. There’s a reason they assigned him to you and you can’t deny the job.”
Y/N nodded slowly, tucking the gold card slowly into the pocket of her jeans, looking at the wall of alcohol behind Weasel as she tried to think, “I know. I’ll take care of it.” She told him with a small smile before making her way back outside to Bucky.
“How was it?” Bucky asks when he sees her. He could feel the emotions running through her body, the conflict of whatever happened inside. It made him want to be there for her, help her through whatever was going through her brain.
Y/N ran her fingers through her hair slowly as she looked at Bucky before around him, “The job I’ve been assigned comes from the top. It’s a kill hit on another mercenary.” She told him, folding her arms across her chest and biting her lip.
Bucky’s brown furrowed a little bit. He could tell this job was already bothering Y/N but he couldn’t figure out exactly why, “Who is it? You know ‘em?” He asks, moving from leaning against his bike to stand in front of her.
Y/N scrunched her nose and closed one eye as she looked at him, “He’s an ex of mine, another mercenary. He got into some trouble with those who hire us and needs to be taken care of.” She said, watching Bucky’s face stay the same but those eyes… they flashed with what she could only assume was jealousy, “I hope you’re not the jealous type.” She teased with a small smile.
Bucky rolls his eye at her comment, folding his arms across his chest, “I’m sure there’s a reason he’s an ex, doll.” He told her, walking towards her until he was towering over her, looking down into her eyes with a crooked grin, “And if there isn’t, I’ll be that reason.”
Y/N couldn’t help but smile at his words, licking her top lip lightly, “I can feel the jealousy dripping from you already. You probably shouldn’t come along.” She told him, standing up on her toes so she could brush her lips against his lightly before turning on her heels and starting to walk down the street, “I’ll catch up with you later.” She said to him over her shoulder.
Bucky frowned. She was a tease and although he liked the game of cat and mouse with her, he wasn’t about to just let her go on a job with an ex that happened to be a fellow mercenary. Bucky was a lot of things but Y/N brought out the sides of him he didn’t know existed. She brought out a protective, almost possessive side that he couldn’t shake. Not when it came to her. He quickly swung his legs back over his motorcycle, bringing it to life and slowly riding it alongside Y/N as she walked, “C’mon, doll. At least let me give you a ride.”
Y/N continued her pace until she looked over towards him. God dammit… those blue eyes just sucked her right in. She stopped and nodded, “Fine.” She said and hung her legs over behind him, gripping onto his waist, “But you should still wait outside when we get there. Head straight down this street for two miles then make a left.”
Bucky grinned at her touch of her arms wrapping around his waist. This felt right, the two of their bodies touching made his heart skip a beat. Fuck, he was done when it came to her. He would follow her to the ends of the earth without even a second thought. Bucky followed her directions, pulling up outside a club. He had seen this club a few times, it had a bad reputation for where the big, bad, and ugly partied. He stiffened a little as Y/N got off his motorcycle, feeling uneasy about the whole thing, “You think this is where he is?”
Y/N turned and looked to Bucky who still sat on his motorcycle, “Yeah, we used to come here to party after jobs. If we weren’t at Sister Margaret’s, we were here.” She told him, then tilts her head, “You have a knife?”
Bucky nodded towards her request, pulling one of his black knives from a sheath around his ankle and passed it to her. He raised an eyebrow as he watched Y/N cut the fabric on her tank top, leaving it to hang around the bottom of her breasts before working on her black jeans next, cutting them into shorts. Now it was clinking on why she wanted him to wait outside, Y/N was going to have to put on her sex appeal game to deal with this job, “I’m definitely coming in.”
Y/N chuckles a little, throwing the cut fabric into a trash can outside the club doors, “Alright, but be a good boy and keep some distance.” She told Bucky, watching as he swung his legs off the motorcycle and follow her into the club. She gave a glance to the bouncer who opened the locked door for her, letting Bucky and herself into the dark club. There were red lights flashing and the club was filled with bodies who were dancing, drinking, and fighting in a boxing ring set in the middle. She glanced over to Bucky, “Don’t get into trouble.” She told him before slipping away through the crowd.
Although she had slipped away, Bucky managed to walk himself over to the bar and keep an eye on her movement. She was running her fingers through her hair, causing it to fluff and tangle a little as she made her way to the dance floor, smiling and swinging her hips. Bucky ordered a beer from the bartender and leaned his back against the bar, watching her. How he envied the men who tried to come and dance with her, pressing their hips to her’s and running their hands up her body. It made him deeply jealous, wanting him to be the only one that touched her like that. He would have to erase every touch another man has given her. It all came to a pause though when a tall, muscular, dark haired man pushed the other man out of the way and placed his hands on Y/N’s waist, leaning his head down onto her shoulder like he was whispering something in her ear. Bucky could hear everything they were saying to each other due to his enhanced abilities even over the roaring of the music.
Y/N looked at the new man touching her, recognizing him instantly. He was her ex, the name on the card she had been handed. Blake Michaels. She slowly wrapped her arms up and around the back of his neck, pushing her body to his as he whispered in her ear.
“What’re you doin’ here, sweetheart?” Blake groaned out into her ear, a smirk playing on his pink lips.
Y/N shrugged, a smile set on her lips, “What? Like I can’t have a good time without you?” She purred out to him, pulling him closer by her grip on the back of his neck.
Blake chuckled at her response, moving his hands down to her ass and picking her up to wrap her legs around his waist. He started carrying her off the dance floor and to the bathroom. Once they were inside, he sat her on the counter by the sinks, “I heard you had a soulmate now.” He told her with a crooked grin, eyeing her heavily tattooed arm.
Y/N shrugged, looking at her tattoo. It burned slightly at the touch of another man who wasn’t Bucky but she ignored it, “You know how I feel about soulmates.” She told Blake, tilting her head at him, “I heard you found yours too.”
Blake chuckled darkly, running a hand through his hair before placing it on the mirror behind Y/N, cornering her in, “I did. She’s six feet under now though, couldn’t have her getting in the way. Soulmates make you weak.”
Y/N took a deep breath at his closeness to her, his face was inches away from her. And even though it was a man she had spent a lot of time with in situations like this one, her body was telling her it was wrong and uncomfortable, “Why are you here, Blake?”
Blake grinned at her, “I think you know the answer to that.” He told Y/N before moving one hand to grip her neck while the other stayed planted against the mirror, “You’re not the only one that got a card.” The hand on the mirror moved to his pocket, pulling out a gold card with Y/N’s name on it and a red skull, “Gemini wants a chat.”
Y/N swallowed hard against the grasp on her throat, eyes widening a little at the card before she put on an emotionless face. Showing no emotion was one of the first things they taught you in The Red Room Academy. She moved one of her legs from around his waist to push her foot against his chest, trying to push him away from her. When she couldn’t get away, she moved her foot up further to kick him in the nose, causing him to stumble back. Y/N stood from the bathroom counter, cracking her neck as she looked at Blake’s bleeding nose, “I have no intention of seeing him.” She hissed out, moving her head out of the way when he threw a punch. She circled behind him and kicked him head first into the bathroom counter before walking towards him, pulling her arm back to throw another punch but was met with a kick to the stomach, causing her back to hit the stall behind her as a small groan passed her lips.
Blake grinned down at Y/N, crossing over to her before she could stand and pinning her down with one foot to her chest. He leaned himself down to look at her face, tilting his head as blood from his nose dripped down onto her stomach and what was left of her white tank top, “Gemini said to bring you back alive… He didn’t say anything about bringing you back unharmed.” He told her as he pulled out a knife, flicking the blade out and throwing it into her shoulder.
It didn’t take long after that until Bucky came flying through the bathroom door, feeling Y/N’s sudden pain and hearing some type of commotion in the bathroom. His eyes darkened as he saw Blake with his foot on Y/N’s chest and a the knife sticking out of her shoulder. His angry gaze set on Blake, walking towards him and grabbing onto his throat with his vibranium arm that made mechanical noises as it moved. Bucky slammed Blake against the wall, holding him high enough off the floor that his feet were dangling above the floor. Bucky couldn’t find words, the only thing he was seeing was white hot rage.
Y/N got up, pulling the knife out of her shoulder and twisting it in her fingers. She walks over and puts one hand on Bucky’s arm, “I got this, it’s okay.” She said softly to him, knowing her words and touch would calm him. She watched Bucky drop Blake to the floor, stepping back a little with a look towards Y/N. She nodded at him then focused her gaze back on Blake who was getting to his feet, “Blake, meet my soulmate.” She said to him, twisting the knife in her fingers again.
Blake’s eyes flickered between Bucky and Y/N, a smirk appearing on his lips, “Little bit of a damaged good if I have to say so myself. Does he just stare?” He teased and looked back to Y/N.
Y/N shrugs slightly, “He likes to stare. Sort of his thing.” She replied before advancing, swinging the knife that only connected every few swipes. Blake knew a lot of her movements from their time together and easily blocked most of them, even landing a few himself. Y/N gripped onto his arm, dropping the knife from her grip as she crawled on top of him, wrapping her legs around his shoulders and landing elbows to his head as he slammed her back against the walls trying to get her off. She adjusts herself on his shoulders, slipping down a little so she could wrap one arm around his throat and the other on the top of his head. As Blake flailed around trying to get her off of him, he turned his neck which was what Y/N was waiting for. When he moved his neck, the hand on her head gripped the side of his face and pulled his neck further one way while her other arm pushed his neck the other way. One snap, and Blake was on the floor and Y/N caught herself on the wall so she wouldn’t fall.
Bucky watched the fight ensue, wanting to help but knew Y/N had it covered. Once he watched Blake fall to the floor dead with a snap of his neck, Bucky’s eyes flashed to Y/N and helped hold her up, “You alright?” He asks before continuing, “You shouldn’t of killed him. We should’ve brought him back to the facility.”
Y/N looked at Bucky, frowning a little, “The job was to kill him, Bucky. I know that’s not you anymore but you don’t know what he’s done. If his name appeared on the card, it was for a good reason.” She told him, pushing herself out of his grasp and leaning down to Blake’s body, pulling the gold card with her name out of his pocket, “Besides, he had my name also from Gemini. He wouldn’t of stopped until the job was done and anybody who works for my brother deserves death.”
Bucky’s grow furrowed at the card, seeing Y/N’s name on it, “Well, we should probably get out of here. Don’t want to be the ones standing over a body.” He said, remembering suddenly Y/N’s wound to her shoulder. He stepped forward and put his hand over it, pushing slightly to put some pressure on it.
Y/N leaned into his grip, “Yeah, probably should go. I mean, the body won’t matter. Someone always winds up dead in the bathroom here anyway.” She chuckles a little, slumping against him slightly as the adrenaline left her body.
Bucky wraps his arm around Y/N’s waist, helping her out of the bathroom and walking her out of the club. Nobody even glanced twice at the blood that spattered on Y/N, it was a regular thing at this club for someone to end up battered. Bucky helped her onto his bike, making sure she was secure around him before zooming back towards the facility. Once they were back inside, he immediately led her to the med bay where she sat on the counter while Bucky examined her wound, stitching slowly, “I could’ve helped you.” He said, breaking the silence.
“It wasn’t your job.” Y/N replied, her face unmoving as the needle threaded through her skin. She watched Bucky closely, he was so focused on her wound but she could tell there was something hiding behind his eyes.
Bucky finished the last stitch, setting down the needle and finally meeting her gaze, “I’m your soulmate, Y/N.” He said to her, “That may not mean much to you but it means everything to me. Do you know how long I’ve waited for you? I thought I was going to be alone forever, losing out on the only thing that I thought could bring me even an ounce of happiness.” His voice was growing more bitter with every word, slowly standing so he towered over Y/N as she sat, “You’re my soulmate. I feel everything you do. Your pain, grief, rage. I feel all of that. And I know you feel something for me… It may not be love, but it’s something. I feel it. So why can’t you just let me help you?”
Y/N bit her lip as she listened to him, feeling the honesty in his words. She took a deep breath, running her fingers through her hair slowly as her gaze set on his eyes… Those hypnotizing puddles of blue that made her stomach twist in a way that wasn’t sick, but warm. She pulled her eyes away, looking at her hands, “I’m sorry, Bucky.” She said softly, honestly, “I know I’m not the best soulmate. I’m sure you were expecting instant sparks and love-doviness all around. I was trained to resist the soulmate bond.” She told him, returning her eyes to his as she watched a hint of sadness appear behind them, “But I do feel something for you. And I don’t want to resist it.”
Those words were all Bucky needed to hear. Some sort of acknowledgement of their bond was enough for him to step closer, positioning himself between her legs as she sat on the table in front of him. His vibranium hand moved to rest on the back of her neck, pulling her face close to his until their lips met. He groaned a little feeling her kiss him back, slipping his tongue between her parted lips. There it was. There was that spark he had been waiting for from Y/N. His flesh hand moved down her back, pulling her forward until she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist to not slip off the edge. He separated his lips from her’s, kissing down her jaw and to her neck, smiling when he heard Y/N breathe out his name as she craved more of his touch, “I’m gonna rip your stitches if I keep going, doll.” He breathed out between kisses to Y/N’s neck.
Y/N didn’t care, her fingers snaking up into his hair and letting out deep breathes as every touch of his felt like fire on her skin, igniting a fire within her she long thought had been extinguished, “You can just stitch it up again later…” She responds, a small moan passing her lips when he kissed the crook of her neck.
Bucky pulls himself away from her, looking at her figure. She still had blood on her shirt and skin and suddenly a thought came into his head and he grinned, “C’mon darlin. I’ll get you cleaned up.” He picked her up, keeping her legs wrapped around his waist. His breath kept hitching when he felt Y/N press her face into his neck, leaving small kisses and love bites along his skin. Bucky didn’t waste anytime carrying her to the elevator, clicking the button to the floor with his room on it. Once the doors opened, he immediately made his way down the hallway passing Sam and Natasha on the way who just stared at them until Bucky was in his room with the door slamming behind him. He walked her right into his bathroom, sitting her on the counter and separated his body from hers, grinning at her as he stepped into his shower and turned it on before returning in front of Y/N. He peeled off his shirt slowly, his dog tags jingling with the movement and dropping to his bare chest once he was freed of his shirt.
Y/N tilted her head and smiled at him as she saw his bare chest. She bit her bottom lip and reached out a leg to wrap around the back of his thigh, pulling him closer to her body again. She ran her hands up his muscular figure, watching him shiver a little at her touch. She leans up against him, pressing her lips against his chest softly.
Bucky groaned at her touch, he couldn’t help it. She was so intoxicating to him with every touch. He pushed her away gently, slowly lifting Y/N’s shirt off of her gently as to not disturb the wound he had just stitched. He grinned at her before dropping his hands to his jeans, undoing his belt and zipper and pushing them down around his ankles and stepping out of the clothing to be left in his boxers. He quickly disappeared behind the glass of the shower that had steamed up before throwing the boxers up over the top to land beside Y/N on the counter, “You coming or what, doll?”
Y/N laughs a little, licking her lips as she did. She scoots herself off the counter and quickly freed herself from the rest of her clothing before slipping into the shower with Bucky. Her body was immediately pressed against the tile wall by his muscular frame, causing her to gasp a little. She could feel all of his skin against her’s and it was electrifying. She pushed her chest up against his, smiling as she heard a small groan pass his lips again. It was like music to her ears, a sound she wanted to hear over and over again.
Bucky ran his hands over Y/N’s bare body, familiarizing himself with every part of her skin. His vibranium hand rested against her breast as the other trailed down her stomach until he found between her legs, grinning as he felt her already wet and not from the water, “Mhm, doll.” He whispers as he pressed his lips to her’s, “You’re already ready for me?”
Y/N whimpers against his lips at his words as his flesh hand slowly entered between her folds, making her hips thrust up against his. She could feel his hard length on her hip, making her wiggle with want. Even though he slipped another finger into her entrance, that wasn’t enough. She wanted more of him. Her body wanted all of him, “Please Bucky…” She moans out, her voice echoing against the shower walls.
Bucky moved his kisses along her jaw. He knew he was driving her wild by the way her hips pressed against his in want and the way her wet walls ached around his finger’s, “All you had to do was ask, pretty girl.” He purred out to her, pulling his fingers out from her core. He quickly lifted her up and wrapped her legs around his waist as he pressed her back to the tile wall, lining his thick member up with her entrance and letting out a deep breath as he felt her slick on his tip. He slowly slid himself into her, pulling his face away from her’s so he could watch Y/N’s features twist in pleasure as he inched his way deep into her core. Once he was all the way in, he stilled feeling her walls pulse around his cock and adjust to his size.
Y/N tilted her head back as he stilled inside her, even just him unmoving was enough to send her over the edge. That coil in her stomach tightened painfully, causing her to whimper out Bucky’s name between pleads of him to move inside her.
“Mhm… You want me to move, darlin?” Bucky asks, grinning at the sight of her pleading with him as his name passed her lips. Since he had met Y/N, he had never seen her plead with anybody or fall apart into a submissive state and seeing her like this and knowing he was the cause of it was driving him wild. He slowly started to thrust in and out of her, watching her breasts bounce against his chest gently with every thrust. God she was beautiful, but even more gorgeous with her naked body pressed against his. His own groans mixed with the sweet sounds that passed Y/N’s lips as he quickened his pace until his hips were slamming against hers, thrusting into her as deep as he could.
Y/N was letting out gasps and loud moans between deep breaths at his thrusts. Nobody had made her feel this good before, pushing her off the edge so quickly. She could blame it on the soulmate bond, the want their bodies needed to be like this but she knew this pleasure was just pure Bucky. Her hands gripped onto his shoulders, her nails leaving small crescent shapes as she gripped onto him, “Oh fuck….” She hissed out when he hit the right spot inside of her, causing her to fall of the edge in an orgasm. She slumped slightly against his chest, leaning her head on his shoulder as she whimpered out.
Bucky let out a loud groan when he felt Y/N release on him but didn’t slow his pace, “So good… Exactly made for me…” He thrust into her quickly a few more times before setting her down on her feet, pulling out of her slowly. He moved his hands to her waist, quickly turning her around against the tile wall. One of his hands trailed down her waist until it was behind her knee, forcing it up against the wall as he positioned himself back to her slick entrance from behind, pushing himself back in with one swift thrust. He growled slightly as he placed his forehead on the back of Y/N’s shoulder, nipping at her skin as he thrust fast and hard into her until he felt her walls clench against him, knowing she was close again.
Y/N gasped as the cold tile pressed against her chest, then the gasp turned into a loud moan when he slid back into her. Her body shook against his as he thrust into her making her body almost collapse against the wall if it wasn’t for Bucky pinning her there. Her body crumbled as her second orgasm peaked, arching her back against the wall and throwing her head back into a soft scream of pleasure.
Bucky smiled against Y/N’s skin as she came again, thrusting deep into her before pulling out, his thick white, hot strands landing on Y/N’s thigh and dripping down onto the tile floor. He quickly turned her around, watching her eyes roll slightly back as her body shook with pleasure. He held her upright until the ripples in her body passed, kissing all over her face gently trying to bring her back from her high, “Bet nobody’s done that to you before, doll.” He teased out with a chuckle, “So good you gotta take a break?”
Y/N breathed deeply, catching her breath and laughing a little at his comments, “I knew you were the jealous type… I know you were thinking of erasing every trace of Blake from my body.” She teased back knowingly. She could feel what he was thinking when they were at the club when Blake’s hands were all over her, jealousy and possession dripped off him when it came to her. She slowly pushed him away from her, “At least you don’t have to stitch me up again.” She said softly, looking at her shoulder that had remained stitched shut before looking up to Bucky with a smile, “Let’s get cleaned up. Sex always makes me hungry, but great sex makes me ravenous.”
After Y/N and Bucky finished their shower together and got dressed, they walked out into the kitchen where Sam and Natasha were sitting. Sam had a scowl on his face towards Bucky, “Man, my room is right next to yours. And the shower echoes.” He hissed out.
Y/N laughs a little and rolls her eyes before Bucky could speak, “Hey, I was ready to go in the med-bay. At least we made it to the shower so everybody didn’t get a show.” She snapped back with a smile as Natasha started dying in laughter.
Bucky couldn’t help but chuckle, sneaking his arm around Y/N’s waist and pulling her closer as he kissed her temple softly. Now, Y/N was his and he wasn’t going to let her go. Their bodies were like one, each other could feel everything the other felt physically and mentally. Bucky got what he always wanted, a deeper connection with someone and nobody was more perfect for him than Y/N. For once he found himself thanking the world and all the things it had done to him just to lead him to Y/N.

That’s The Way
Pairing: Jimmy Page x Reader
Word count: 3.6k
Warnings: none, this is kind of an introductory/fluff chapter if you will :)
Story summary: Y/N Y/L/N, an ordinary seventeen-year-old girl, gets pulled into the world of rock and roll on a fateful night at the Marquee Club in London when she experiences the musical phenomenon of the Five Live Yardbirds. She grows up fast, navigating her way through the downfall of The Yardbirds, the legendary skyrocket of Led Zeppelin, era-defining decadence instigated by the ‘60s and ‘70s mindset of free love and personal gratification, and finding the courage to express how she fell deeply in love with one of modern music’s greatest guitarists.
Author’s notes (from Molly of rebel-without-a-zeppelin): Hi everyone! A little disclaimer on my part: this is the first story I’ve ever shared for public consumption. I’ve been toying with this idea in my mind for a very long time now, and I’ve finally mustered up the courage to share it with you all. I hope you like it. I am incredibly honored to collaborate with Syd on this project; this is truly our baby, as it has a very long, detailed, intricate plot, so saddle up for lots (and lots) of drama! This is also a sloooowwwww burn, like really, really slow lol. Over the course of the story, please feel free to send me your theories and comments; I would absolutely love to read them. Please enjoy, and happy reading!

3 May 1965
The sound of a car horn beeped incessantly from the front of Y/N’s house. Dropping her backpack down on her bedroom floor with an annoyed huff, she sprinted down the steps. She never did get enough time to prepare, and it was no different today. With her friend Carolyn in tow, Y/N made a beeline for the front door, the click-clack of her Oxford shoes pounding across the hardwood floor. Y/N’s mum, who nonchalantly strolled out of the laundry room with an armful of freshly washed and folded bath towels, leant against the doorframe.
“Now remember Y/N: no drinking, no drugs, no sex. No going home with strange musician guys, nor are you allowed to go to their hotel,” her mum instructed calmly, knowing she’d receive an eye roll from the girl. Her stern expression at home on her gracefully-aged face, the girls receive the speech they get every time they go out.  “You too, C. Even though I’m not your mother, I still worry about your safety.”
Both Y/N’s mum and dad had a very protective instinct over their eldest daughter, just like their other three children. Even at Y/N’s healthy age of seventeen, she longed for the freedom and trust that her older brother had gained at her age.
“Thank you, Mrs. Y/L/N,” Carolyn replied with a little laugh.
“Mum! This is literally the fourth time I’ve been to a Yardbirds gig, and nothing bad has happened,” Y/N huffed. Her mum raised her eyebrows.
Lillian, Y/N’s little sister, walked into the foyer and surprised Y/N with a big, tight hug around her waist. Y/N gasped at the sudden contact, but chuckled when she realized it was her younger sister, and reciprocated the hug.
“I don’t want you getting hurt, Y/N. Boys are icky. And stupid!” Lillian said in a whiny voice, her face muffled by being buried in Y/N’s stomach.
Y/N ruffled her sister’s muss of dirty blonde waves affectionately, rubbing her back to soothe her worries. “I promise, I will come back perfectly fine! I won’t let any boys mess with me, Lil,” Y/N said with a smile, “And when I come back, I’ll tell you everything that happened.”
Lillian gazed up at Y/N with a similar smile, her small teeth shining a bright, pearly white and her chin resting on the taller girl’s stomach. “Okay,” she said, content, before releasing from Y/N with a stuffed animal tucked under her arm.
“Where’s Charlie?” Y/N asked, hoping she could say goodbye to her younger brother before she left.
“I think he’s riding around the neighborhood on his bike with his friends,” Y/N’s mum replied with a shrug. Y/N felt a little disappointed, but she figured she’d talk to him tomorrow at breakfast about her night out.
Thomas, Y/N’s older brother, continued to honk the horn rather obnoxiously, growing quite impatient. It’s a wonder the neighbors weren’t at arms, knocking on their door. He was forced by his parents to be Y/N and Carolyn’s chauffeur to the Marquee Club in London.
“We have to go, or else Tommy will have my head,” Y/N said as she started to open the front door.
“Wait!” her mum said, sloppily placing the towels down on a nearby counter to dash to the door and give Y/N a hug and a kiss on the head goodbye. Finally pulling away her weathered hands flew to Y/N’s shoulders, and gripping them firmly, she continued, “Be good. Love you.”
“I know, I will. Love you too,” Y/N smiled, before dashing down the steps and to the passenger seat of the car. Carolyn was in quick pursuit, following her to the car and taking a seat in the back.
“It’s about time,” Tommy huffed impatiently, tapping his fingertips on the top of the steering wheel as he put the transmission into drive.
“Sorry. Mum was giving me and C a safety brief,” Y/N replied apologetically.
“Why are you two still in school uniforms?” he snorted, shifting to look over at the girls; their studious appearance of white oxford shirts, sweater vests, plaid kilts, white knee socks, and smart oxford shoes would be quite out of place among the audience at the show.
“No time to change, just like usual,” she replied, turning on the radio, soft melodies pouring out at a low volume.
The three drove in silence, except for the sound of the radio playing, until Carolyn had dozed off on the somewhat lengthy car ride. Occasional small talk between Y/N and her brother permeated the quiet that fell over the group, but it picked up when they were only a few blocks away from the venue.
“You gotta stay safe in there, Y/N,” Tommy said, looking straight ahead. His teeth clamped down sharply on his bottom lip: a dead giveaway to the nerves he must have been feeling.
“I know, Dad,” Y/N joked, punching him lightly across the shoulder. Her bright smile wavered and fell when she saw his grim expression.
“I’m serious, you know. I don’t want my sister being pestered by some wankers in a blues band.”
Y/N smirked at her brother’s sudden defensive behavior. “I can take care of myself. Trust me. This isn’t my first rodeo. You should’ve seen the first Yardbirds gig we went to. Utter chaos...” The tilt of her lips signalled that she was joking, and Tommy huffed out a laugh.
Carolyn, stretching with a grunt, had miraculously woken up just as Tommy pulled up to the front door of the Marquee. Glancing at the venue with awe dancing in their eyes, Y/N and Carolyn disembarked from the car, walking closer with the façade of calmness and competency.
“I’ll be back later to pick you girls up. Have fun, but not too much fun,” Tommy rolled his window down as he said this, winking playfully.
Y/N waved to her brother as Carolyn thanked him graciously for the ride. Arms linked, Y/N and Carolyn entered the famous Marquee. Nervousness and anticipation began to pool Y/N’s stomach as she was greeted by the decadent atmosphere of the club: the smell of smoke, alcohol, and sweat hung in the air as her eyes were flashed by many people mingling about, dressed in typical mod clothing. Y/N and her friend looked at each other, feeling like aliens in their intelligent dress. They tactfully made their way through the crowd as they found their way to their usual spot, a small leather-upholstered booth set against the wall near the stage.
“Today might be the day, Y/N,” Carolyn said as they settled into their seats.
“I don’t know,” she replied, smoothing out her skirt, “the idea of that is both scary and exciting to me at the same time. We’ll just roll with the punches, I guess.”
“Which Yardbird do you have your eye on?”
Y/N smirked as she thought for a moment. “Hmm...I’m not sure. I guess they’re all pretty cute in their own way. What about you?”
“Yes, I agree. But I must admit, I do have a very soft spot for Chris Dreja.”
“I’ll pray for ya, C,” Y/N chuckled.
~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, backstage, five live Yardbirds were performing some pre-show rituals in the hopes of easing the preliminary anxiousness. Jeff, Keith, and Jim were peeking out the little sliver of curtain that allowed them to see their gathering audience.
“Look! It’s those two schoolgirls again!” Jeff pointed to the two teenage girls in school uniforms, chatting in their booth waiting for the show to begin. They were huddled together in conversation, legs daintily crossed as their faint giggles floated over to them. Jim couldn’t help but smile at the sound, though he recovered quickly, not wanting his bandmates to get any ideas.
“What’s wrong with that? They must like us,” Keith replied.
“I think they’re both really pretty, especially the one with the Y/H/C hair,” Jim pointed out, trying to be as subtle as possible.
“Yeah, maybe we should invite them backstage after the show… have a nice little chat,” Jeff winked at the singer and the drummer cheekily.
After taking a final glance at the two conversing girls, the three returned to the backstage area where Paul and Chris were. Jeff immediately enlisted Giorgio, their manager, to complete the agreed-upon mission. Jeff loosely draped an arm around Giorgio’s shoulder before bestowing the request as politely as possible. Not trying to be suspiciously polite, of course, because everyone in the band and its entourage were firsthand witnesses of Jeff’s temper and stubbornness. Yikes.
“Okay, I’m going to need you to do me a favor,” Jeff said to Giorgio with a mischievous smile.
Giorgio rolled his eyes, knowing this “favor” would have to do with scouting girls from the audience. “What d’ya need, Jeff?” he sighed exhaustedly.
“Don’t complain, please,” Jeff deadpanned. “There are two pretty birds in the audience, wearing their school uniforms. They’ve been coming to our shows for a little bit now, and they seem nice—”
“You want me to bring them backstage after the show?” Giorgio interrupted, somehow telepathically knowing, by routine, what the guitarist’s request would be.
“You finish that sentence like you know what I’m about to say.”
“That’s because I do, Mr. Beck,” Giorgio retorted sarcastically, “this happens a lot more often than you think it does.”
“Whatever,” Jeff grumbled moodily, knowing he was right, before walking back to the group of musicians in preparation.
~~~~~~~~
Y/N and Carolyn continued to gossip happily about what was happening at school, not a care in the world. They felt the stares of older men in the club, who silently disapproved of their knee socks being scrunched by their ankles, because that wasn’t the “proper” thing to do. But they didn’t care. Who are they to judge?
Every teacher scolded girls at school who did the same thing, because they didn’t want their long legs to be “tempting” or “distracting” any boys. A bloody nuisance, is what it is.
The girls were snapped from their thoughts by the sound of a heavy guitar tone being blasted through the speakers in an opening riff. Their eyes were stapled, almost transfixed to the stage as they took in the five sharply-dressed men in front of them, singing their songs and playing their instruments.
As much as Carolyn enjoyed The Yardbirds and music in general, Y/N had a rather deep connection to it, odd enough as it was. She could play the piano fairly well, so she understood where these musicians were coming from cognitively and creatively. From what she’d read in magazines about current popular musicians, like The Yardbirds for example, she liked the same music they did. Y/N understood dynamics, tempo, tone, key, and musical notation, just like they did. Perhaps she’d be able to get into an intelligent musical conversation with at least one of them one day.
Two straight hours of hits, obscure songs, and blues covers from The Yardbirds’ catalogue were played for the Marquee Club patrons, hypnotizing its drunk and high onlookers with polished musicality and instrumentation.
As the final song concluded, both Y/N and Carolyn, unbeknownst to the other, felt a sinking feeling of disappointment that fell like a pit in their stomachs. They wouldn’t have the chance to meet the band. No one from the entity had approached them yet, and momentarily the five live Yardbirds would be exiting the stage for the night.
After they said their goodbyes and thanks to the crowd, they disappeared behind the curtain. The main lights of the club brightened to signal that the show was over, as the voices of all the patrons raised in rave of the spectacular show they had just witnessed.
Discouraged, but still in light spirits at what they had just seen, Y/N and Carolyn stood up from their seat and headed for the front door. Y/N expected her brother to be waiting in front; it was late, so might as well not make him wait longer than he needs to.
Y/N and Carolyn were merely a few feet from the door when Y/N felt a gentle tap on her shoulder. Turning around to see a man with a dark beard already baring a jovial tight-lipped grin at her, the girl was quite surprised, maybe a little weirded out, but she reciprocated the gesture as genuinely as she could.
“Hello sir, what can we do for you?” Y/N greeted, discreetly nudging Carolyn to help her out and become a united front with her in front of this stranger.
“Good evening ladies, I was sent by Mr. Jeff Beck to offer you an invitation backstage to hang out with the band.”
Y/N’s stomach dropped and her face broke out into an obvious mad blush, much to her dismay. She was internally screaming. The Jeff Beck had spotted them in the crowd?! This had to be a dream.  Wait, this could be a complete drunken buffoon trying to trick them. Y/N remembered what her mother had said, and took the proper precautionary measure.
Y/N smiled in the most composed way she could. “Thank you for such a gracious invitation! Could I ask your name, if you don’t mind?”
“Giorgio Gomelsky, manager of The Yardbirds,” he replied, in a seemingly proud manner.
Okay, this was real. Y/N knew that Giorgio was definitely the manager’s name. She turned to Carolyn, who looked just as excited as she was.
“What are your names, dears?” Giorgio asked, pulling them out of their daze of what seemed like a fake reality.
“I’m Carolyn, and this is my friend Y/N,” Carolyn piped up, excited that she finally got an opportunity to speak to someone close to The Yardbirds.
She internally agreed to let Y/N handle the “diplomacy” part of the introduction, knowing that she was best at that. Carolyn knew her friend was quite shy, so she knew to step in when Y/N was starting to feel anxious. She noticed Y/N starting to fiddle with her fingers while talking to Giorgio in the most collected way she could muster; as excited as Y/N was, Carolyn knew she was growing very nervous.
“Well, it is certainly lovely to meet you both. So, what do you say? Would you like to meet the lads?”
After one final glance of excited mutual agreement, Carolyn replied, “Yes, we’d love to.”
Giorgio led the pair of girls back the way they came, through a sea of inebriated people, but this time through the backstage door. Y/N made an appoint to walk behind Carolyn, in an attempt to collect and relax herself. She was starting to sweat a little, her stomach doing flips and her hands becoming cold and clammy.
~~~~~~~~
“Our guests should be arriving any minute now,” Jeff said as he was placing his guitar back in its case.
Chris was standing and chatting with Paul in a corner when he turned around in surprise at the news. “Guests? What guests?”
“We had Giorgio invite two girls from the audience to come back here,” Jim replied, walking over to sit down in a metal folding chair.
“And why weren't we made aware of this?” Paul asked, as he walked to get another metal folding chair to place near Jim.
“It was their idea,” Keith replied, pointing two fingers between Jeff and Jim. Paul and Chris just nodded in recognition.
“I didn’t hear you disagree, Relf,” Jeff clapped back. He then told Chris and Keith to get some chairs for themselves and the two girls that would be walking through the door at any second.
Before Keith could respond, a couple knocks resounded in the room, signalling the arrival of the guests. Jacket lapels and ties were quickly straightened, even though each person was still glazed with quickly-drying sweat from the show they had just played, before the room fell unnaturally quiet as Giorgio opened the rather squeaky door.
The initial tension in the room that lasted a split second could be cut with a knife. Y/N felt her heart pounding in her chest, a cold sweat already running down her back, as five pairs of eyes landed on her, Carolyn, and Giorgio, warm smiles following suit.
She felt like internally combusting.
“Boys, this is Y/N,” Giorgio broke the momentary silence by introducing her, “and Carolyn.” Y/N smiled shyly and sent them a little wave, a dusty shade of pink seeping its way to her cheeks. Carolyn’s greeting was much more exuberant than Y/N’s, as she took the initiative to go over and shake all of their hands amiably. Y/N realized she had to follow her friend in order to make a good first impression.
Knowing that the boys wanted to spend time with the girls without being chaperoned, Giorgio left the room to attend to other business affairs.
Upon first glance, Y/N was the most beautiful girl that four of the five Yardbirds had ever seen. Perfect features, long legs, a calm, gentle, sweet demeanor… Just an absolutely angelic young woman; a vision.
Jeff had obviously recognized her beauty, from seeing her at multiple shows, but he thought she was way out of his league. He decided to focus on getting her to laugh and relax around them, because he noticed just how nervous she looked. She was turning pale right in front of his very eyes! Paul and Chris began to internally question themselves, how have I not seen this girl before? She is so gorgeous! Jim had been glancing at her sporadically throughout the show, soaking up her faraway presence. He noticed how her eyes glistened in childlike wonder as she watched them do what they did best: perform the Chicago blues.
“Well, it is very nice to meet you both,” Keith replied enthusiastically. “I’m Keith,” he alluded to himself, then pointing to the other members of the group while giving their names, “and this is Chris, Paul, Jeff, and Jim.”
“I mean, we know who you guys are, but it’s so lovely to finally meet you,” Carolyn replied. Y/N nodded in agreement.
“Come and sit down! Make yourselves comfortable. We don’t bite,” Jeff joked, motioning to the open chairs. The girls smiled and accepted his invitation, Y/N taking a seat between Jeff Beck and Jim McCarty, while Carolyn took a seat between Keith Relf and Chris Dreja. The chairs were arranged in a circular formation, so each person could talk to the other with ease.
“Tell us about yourselves!” Paul initiated, “I think Y/N should go first though, because you haven’t said too much yet,” he laughed at the last part. Y/N giggled (a little too idiotically for her own liking), but she felt herself become starstruck at how her name sounded coming from one of their voices.
Y/N clenched her cold, clammy hands in her lap as a method to ease her anxiety before starting with a smile. “Well, I’m from Saint Albans. This is our fourth time, I believe, coming to see a Yardbirds gig. Carolyn and I came to see you with Eric Clapton once, and then this is the third time with Jeff.”
“Oh, that’s fantastic! I guess I see where your favor lies in terms of guitarists,” Jeff responded playfully.
“I guess you’re right,” Y/N laughed, “I will admit that I love what you’ve done with the body of work. Clapton was a blues purist, which I respect, and he’s great, but I think your playing is much more interesting and unorthodox.”
Paul, Jim, and Jeff all raised their eyebrows at Y/N’s comment. They were impressed with how she understood their musicality.
“Are you a musician?” Jim asked Y/N.
“Not in your sense of the word,” Y/N chuckled, “But I’ve been playing the piano for most of my life, so I understand music. Probably more than your average female audience member,” she added with a grin.
“That’s so cool! Are you classically trained, or is it just a hobby?”
“Classically trained,” Y/N admitted to Jim shyly.
“Oh wow, so you’re the real deal,” Jeff added.
“I’m not a professional, so I’d say no,” Y/N laughed.
“You probably know more about music than all five of us combined!” Paul said.
“Well, I know that you know much more about the blues than me!” Y/N answered playfully.
“Okay, I’ll give you that,” Paul smiled at Y/N. She cursed herself in her mind for feeling weak at Paul’s simple sentiment, but tried to keep her composure as best she could.
The four of them, especially Jeff and Y/N, began to bond over their love for different musicians. Y/N expressed her love for Chet Atkins and his fingerpicking style, Scotty Moore’s lively soloing style, and Robert Johnson’s slide technique and open tunings, rendering the three men shocked at her knowledge on the subject. Y/N loved how easily Jeff could make her laugh, and how interested Paul and Jim were at whatever she had to say, significant or insignificant. Chris Dreja, who was in a little group with Keith and Carolyn, occasionally spaced out of his conversation to hear what Y/N had to say.
They bonded for about an hour and a half about everything and nothing, until Y/N abruptly realized that Tommy was probably waiting for a while outside for her and her friend. She apologized to the band profusely for such a sudden departure as she and Carolyn walked towards the door.
“Say you’ll come visit us again after the show?” Jeff called to Y/N as she turned towards him in the doorframe.
“Absolutely,” she smiled brightly.
Thanks so much, hope you enjoy!!
Bring Me To Life
Tumblr media
Summary: Kang Sujin has never had anyone to turn to, hiding behind a façade her entire life. Someone begins to peek behind the mask.
Author’s note: My two favorite characters in TB are Seojun and Sujin, both characters who are honestly treated like trash by the writers. I cannot begin to tell how upsetting it was to see Sujin’s character assassination or how painful it is to watch her being physically abused knowing that the writers will not give her therapy or a true happy ending. She’s just here to be beaten and vilified. Seojun, I won’t even rant everyone knows what the problem is (idk who told them we wanted to see Start-Up the high school edition.) So I wrote this after watching the most recent episode and hating most of it for these reasons. I don’t know how far it’ll go or how often I can update, but I need my two babies to have a happy ending preferably together because the visuals are just a dreammmm.
The rain crashes down loudly from aggrieved storm clouds bellowing above her in the sky, the chilled condensation plastering her thin satin pajamas to her trembling body. She had to get out, the pain in her cheek numbing and electrifying all at once.
How dare she tell him that she didn't want to get married, want to stand on her own two feet without a man giving her value?
His hand had flown across the room before she could sidestep the blow, the fragile glass filled with water in her hand- the very reason she'd left her room in the dead of night- shattering into jagged pieces as it collided with a greater force. Just like her.
She hadn't been trying to eavesdrop but it was hard not to hear him chuckling deeply on the phone, offering up his only child like she was an item on a menu.
"Yes we should set them up. It seems Suho isn't interested and she should marry young, that's when women are worth the most."
Nausea rolled like waves in the pits of her stomach and before she could think logically, her feet were sprinting into the living room, air barely filling her lungs as she stared at the man she'd never once thought of as a father. The last time she'd made the grave mistake of calling him daddy he'd smacked her so hard that was how she lost her first tooth. He'd been father ever since or Mr. Kang. She tried her best to avoid him at all cost, she would never be good enough and it was getting harder to hide the marks he left behind.
It was difficult to remember clearly what occurred seconds after her refusal to marry a man she didn't know left her lips, his fist connected and she was knocked back onto their coffee table the sharp edge cutting at her cheek. As she looked at him, anger painting his face a demonic red, fear crippled her and her hands twitched desperately wanting to wash them raw. Then he grabbed a thick marble ashtray from the table and her instincts took over and she was out the door, running as fast as she could, knowing her life was at stake and she couldn't afford to stop.
When the cloud in her head cleared that was when she found herself at the bus stop.
Judgmental whispers breeze by her ears as people passed by with umbrellas, shocked to see the young girl crying in her pajamas at the stop, but none stopped to offer her help or inquire about her situation, happy just to pass judgement. She ignores them all, panicking racing through her blood until she's unable to breathe, choking on nothing as she twitches in the harsh air. Her throat constricts as she screams at herself, breathe.
Breathe.
BREATHE!
But it's useless as her body shuts down, forgetting how to do the basic function, she sways as she starts to feel light headed from the lack of oxygen and with a final wheeze she collapses.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
He signs as he weaves past cars moving far too slowly, adrenaline rushing through his veins as he marginally misses nipping a car to the left of him, easily dragging his motorcycle away with the fluid movements of his body. He glares up at the sky before cursing, "Fucking weather report didn't say anything about a sudden rainstorm." If he'd known he would have stayed home, always hating the rain. It brought back bad memories.
Halting at a red light, he puts his leg down for balance bouncing slightly in place. Pulling the shield up on his helmet he glances around, recognizing the area easily, before something in his peripheral catches his attention, a lump on the ground. Tilting his head he revs his trusty iron steed to live, riding over to the direction of the mysterious mass on the wet ground. As he gets closer his heart falters, it's too evident now.
It's a person.
Jumping off his bike and pushing out the kickstand he flings his helmet off, his hair immediately drenched under the downpour as he races over to help. As he nears the figure, it becomes clearer it's a woman wearing what looks like sleep clothes. Momentarily he wonders if this is a crazy person and if he should just mind his business but a frightening image of his little sister unconscious on the ground and no one coming to her aid flashes in his mind.
"I'll just check if she's breathing and call an ambulance. That's all, if she tries to attack me I'll just ride away." He takes a deep breath, collecting his courage before closing the gap between him and the unconscious woman.
Crouching beside her, he reaches out a hand hesitating before sighing and shaking at her cold shoulder. No response. He shakes harder now, watching the motion quake through her entire body, but still she is unresponsive.
"Hey! Hey! Are you okay? Wake up, you're scaring me!" He starts to jiggle her with both hands, before he crawls into her space not caring about his safety any longer, the idea that this unknown woman might be dead is making him nauseous. People are always dying without his permission. It's so frustrating.
"Wake up! Come on!" He shouts at the figure now holding both her shoulders and turning the woman over, lifting her face from its place on the ground, cradling her limp body in his lap. After two more vicious shakes, she starts to cough and groan in his arms. Relief swims through his veins as he watches her come back to life, anxiously watching as her dewy long lashes flutter open and he's caught in a lifeless deep gaze.
"Han Seo-Jun?"
It takes a long pause for him to register that the woman has said his name and then a longer moment to recognize who she is.
"Kang Su-Jin?" He replies in genuine shock, taking in the wom--young girl in his arms. She's shivering so violently that it's becoming difficult to hold onto her, vibrating out of his hold before he grips her tighter, whipping off his jacket without second thought and wrapping it around her. Goosebumps raising on his skin as his body mentally berates his lack of survival skills.
"What are you doing here?" She looks at him bewildered as if the stranger occurrence is his presence and not her own.
He squints his eyes looking back at her, "I could ask you the same thing. I found you unconscious here. I thought you were...." He trails off unable to utter the rest of his sentence.
"You should have left me here. Maybe I would have. If I was that lucky."
"What? Are you crazy, you want to die? Did you do this to yourself, what are you on?!" He roars at her, rage flooding his system as he shouts at the stupid girl, how dare she try to kill herself and leave her body for him to find? He wishes he had taken a different route, that he'd never come across her. He was in no state to comfort someone who was suicidal, still too raw and hurt. What was so hard about living that made people want to do that? Hot tears gather in his eyes as he abruptly pulls away from Sujin, unapologetic as she tumbles to the ground without his support.
She starts at him, stunned before righteous fury twists her features and she roars back at him.
"Who are you to judge me! I didn't ask you to help me, leave me alone!"
He glares back at her ready to yank his jacket away and run away from her but a small movement stops him, as she's screaming at him a small muscle twitches in her cheek bringing his attention to said cheek. It's nearly purple, standing out obscenely on her pale skin and then he notices the split lip and the bruises on her neck and he's so ashamed of himself he could bawl.
He deflates before speaking to her, "What happened to your face? Who did this to you?"
He doesn't know what kind of look he has on his face but before his questions can even settle between them she's sneering and twisting away from him, throwing his jacket on the ground before making her escape. Unprepared for her sudden departure he reacts too late, before chasing after her. It's easy to close the distance separating them with his long legs and within seconds she's merely inches in front of him, he reaches out a large hand to grab her wrist but hesitates recalling the bruises littering her frame. Instead he races past her, blocking her with his body swerving to the left and then the right when she tries to dodge him. They play this cat and mouse game before she finally gives up, glaring up at him with moist enraged eyes.
"Why do you care? We aren't even friends!"
Her piercing shout rings in his ears as he looks down at her passively. He can't answer that question, doesn't know what brought him to this area so late and not understanding why he was the one to find her in this condition. He doesn't know why he cares. But maybe things could have been different if Se-Yeon had someone to chase him. Maybe he'd still be alive...
So he answers her honestly.
"I don't want anymore people to die."
To his complete shock she starts to cry, tears falling rapidly from her eyes before she crumples to the ground, the rain pounding on her head and he stands still unsure of what to do before he drapes the jacket he'd rescued from the ground over her head, shielding her from most of the thunderous downpour. When she looks up to see the jacket protecting her, he almost falls backwards as her head slams into his chest, her tears simmering hot on his chilled body. It's almost painfully uncomfortable but he doesn't move away. Letting her cry on his chest, his shirt is soaked anyway this makes no difference.
He doesn't know how long they are crouched there on the ground, so dark that the sidewalk is completely devoid of anyone else, it feels like they are the only two people left on Earth.
"If we stay here you're going to get a cold."
He voices his concern but the only reply he receives is a gross sounding sniffle and he grimaces, knowing that his poor shirt is probably damaged beyond repair covered in snot and tears.
Sighing he starts to repeat himself before she whispers, "I don't have anywhere to go."
"I can take you home." Her fists tighten in his drenched shirt, he can practically feel the fear wafting off her, he'd assumed the marks on her face were from a possessive unhinged boyfriend but her reaction makes him uneasy. He tries to push those unpleasant thoughts to the corner.
"What about your friends? Why don't you call Su-ah or Ju-Kyung, I’m sure they’ll help you.”
She stiffens in his arms before shaking her head in decline.
"No. I can't let anyone else see me like this. I don't need them looking at me the way you did, like I'm a sad pitiful puppy. I never want anyone look at me like that again."
He can respect that, he never wants to appear weak in front of others. It was easier to become angry and lash out rather than showing your true heart, nobody could hurt you that way.
"Then what? Where do you want to go?"
"I have nowhere to go. I'll stay here until morning. I'll be fine, you can go."
He looks at her dumbfounded, what kind of man would leave a battered woman alone in the rain? He wasn't raised by animals, damn it.
"Let's go." He makes a point not to touch her, their only point of connection are her hands twisted in his shirt.
"What?"
He bulldozes past her confusion, looking at her with what he hopes are comforting eyes.
"I'm taking you to my house. I can't just leave you here."
"Are you crazy? Don't you live with your mother and sister, what will they say?"
He winces at the logical inquiry, he had already considered that himself, thinking of his mother's subsequent smacks and his sister's teasing once they learned what he'd done but still deciding that he has no other choice. He can't just leave her here.
He shrugs, "That's my problem to worry about. I'm not leaving you here, I'd really like to get out of his rain. Let's go." He repeats himself harder, pleading with her.
She looks away and he's prepared to throw her over his shoulders and face the consequences when he hears her response, "Okay. Let's go."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
It's a quiet ride back, the engine rumbling through the aching bones of her frozen body. Han Seojun. The last person she ever expected to see after being roused from her panic induced collapse. Her arms tighten around his thin waist as he swerves around a car, adrenaline and fear battling for dominance in her body. When her fingers accidentally brush across wet bare skin she quickly moves her hands higher, fighting the embarrassment that washes over her.
If he notices she can't hear his reaction over the roar of the motorcycle.
When they finally pull up to a small apartment, she loosens her hold on him cracking her frozen digits.
"You didn't need to hold that tightly, I wasn't going to let anything happen to you. I ride this everyday you know."
She doesn't reply focusing on getting off the bike, swinging her leg over and hopping off not graceful but effective, a small proud smile spreads on her face before she gazes back at him.
He stares back before shaking his head, as if lost in a daze before he stomps off for her to follow.
Wordlessly she trails behind him, feeling foolish in her duck pajamas, a gift from Su-ah.
When he pushes his front door open, letting her in first she steps out of her sopping wet house slippers standing awkwardly looking around.
"Stay here. I'll get towels so we don't trail too much water."
She nods at his command, gazing at the floor and seeing how much water is already pooling around her feet.
"Here." He hands her a fluffy pink towel, she raises an eyebrow at the color.
"It's the guest towel. I wouldn't give you my towel."
That makes sense, sharing towels is far too intimate for the relationship they have. That being none.
She rapidly towels at her hair, before running the towel down her body and wrapping it around her waist.
"You can use the bathroom. It's the second door on the right. I'll bring you dry clothes."
She steps cross the doorway, finally entering his home. Before she turns back to him staring directly into his eyes, "Than.... You didn't have to do this." She loses her confidence but his answering smirk lets her know he understood enough, with that she walks to the bathroom locking herself inside.
The sight of her bruised face in the mirror makes her pause, reaching up to finger at the stark purple mark on her cheek. She's crying before she can control her emotions, tears dripping into the sink as she remembers her night, how close she was to the end despite what she said to Seojun she wanted to live. As her father stood above her ready to snuff her out like a mere nuisance in his life, she realized with a burning passion how desperately she wanted to live.
A soft knock drags her back to reality as she rapidly wipes her tears away.
"I'm leaving clothes by the door. You can come out whenever you're ready. I'm making tea."
When she hears the light steps of his feet moving away from the door she opens the door a crack, picking up the neatly folded pile of clothes. Sending the boy a mental thank you before closing the door quietly.
It's clear that these clothes belong to Seojun, draping off her body, too large for her frame, a black T-shirt with a microphone on the center and sweatpants that cover her feet as well, he'd even remembered to bring her socks. Instantly she feels her body warming as her body temperature returns to normal.
Folding her wet clothes and splashing water on her face then using the towel to rub it dry, she exits the bathroom walking towards the light she sees assuming that's the kitchen.
"The water's almost done boiling. Sit down."
His deep voice greets her as she follows his orders and takes a seat.
"Are these your clothes?"
"What? Oh yeah they're mine, sorry my sister locked her door. They're very old though, I haven't worn them in years I thought they would fit you better." He eyes her as he says the last sentence, "I guess it didn't make much of a difference I'm just too tall and manly for my own good."
She scoffs at his narcissistic comment rolling her eyes "Tall and manly my foot. You're so skinny I could probably pick you up with one arm."
He immediately turns at her comment, affronted look on his face, "Shut up! It's hard for me to put on weight, I'm not that skinny."
He places his hands on his hips, looking down at himself before puffing his chest out to make himself appear broader, it's so ridiculous that she can't control her reaction.
Sudden uncontrollable laughter.
She laughs breathlessly, folding onto her lap trying to contain her giggles but his scandalized look makes her laugh harder and she has to stuff her face in her elbow to prevent herself from waking his family.
After a few minutes of random spasms of laughter she finally peers back up at him.
He looks just like he did outside when she'd smiled after successively getting off his motorcycle.
"What? What are you looking at?"
"Nothing. I just never see you smile at school."
"Well you never do anything worth smiling about." She quips back, wondering if she'd gone too far but he doesn't reply beyond a slight smile that's gone too fast to even be titled that, he places her steaming cup of tea before her sipping at his own after blowing on it.
They drink in comfortable silence.
She's the first to rapture the silence, "I don't need pity."
"I don't pity yo--"
"But thank you. Thank you for stopping. Thank you for this, thank you."
He stares wordlessly before nodding, a slight blush on his cheeks before he hides his face in the cup of tea. She doesn't bring attention to it.
"You can sleep in my room. It's the door next to the bathroom."
Humming she looks up, fatigue hitting her like a brick at the mention of sleeping.
"Where will you sleep?"
"I have a perfectly good couch, don't argue you're sleeping in my room. That's final. It's better that my mother doesn't see a strange woman on the couch when she wakes up."
Well, she can't argue with that logic.
"Okay." Drinking the last of the soothing beverage, she stands up walking over to place the cup in the sink.
"Good night." She starts to walk back in the direction of the bathroom, seeing another door next to it. Seojun's room. Twisting the doorknob she pushes it open, before she hears his voice from behind her.
"If you need anything I'm right outside."
Blinking her tears away, she nods without looking back, too vulnerable with his palpable concern.
When she lays her head down on his pillow, his scent fills her senses and she falls into a deep restless slumber feeling safer than she has in long time.
Tomorrow will be horrible.
But tonight, she will allow herself to breath easy knowing that someone is on her side.
Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Character : Mob!Steve Rogers x Retired Assassin Female Reader
Warning : No smuts, since I don’t know how to write it. Peace y’all.
Tumblr media
Today (Y/N) drive Peter to his workplace; the business still close, but Wanda wants him to come to discuss which recipe they should use for the grand re-opening.
Usually, Peter use his bike to go to work. But (Y/N) offers to use her car since she’s also going out.
Peter notices a big back on her backseat. “Where are you going?”
“My friend needs my help.”
“Hmm.” He was silent if (Y/N) mention ‘help’ means including guns, explosions, and deadly battle.
“Who’s your friend?”
(Y/N) felt nervous, she bit her lips. “John Wick…??” She answered him with questions because she knew he doesn’t like it when dealing with underworld stuff.
The atmosphere suddenly became quiet.
She felt nervous because he became quiet. “Are you mad? Don’t worry Bambi, I’ll be back before you know it.”
She glanced a bit to see his reaction wondering if he’s mad. Well, she’s right cause Peter’s head is looking out his window and he already put on his earphones. (Y/N) sighed inwardly, she couldn't help it when her former comrade asked for her help.
Their ride was silent until her car stopped at Peter's destination. From her view, she could see the restaurant almost done with the renovation. The worker put in new furniture and chandeliers.
“Have a good day Peter.” (Y/N) rests her on the steering wheels; she smiles sweetly at Peter, but he still give her a cold shoulder.
She doesn’t like it when he ignores her, so when he gets out of the car and closes the door, (Y/N) open the car window and screams, "Bye, I love you!!!"
Honestly, he didn’t play any song to his ears; he only put it on just for show because it’s too early to argue with (Y/N). How shocked he was when he heard her sudden shout.
Peter was embarrassed because there are many people in front of the store and pedestrians right now. All eyes and giggle are directed to him; he pulled down the hoodie to hide his face.
(Y/N) giggled like a maniac, she shouted again, “Peter, I won’t go until you say it back!!”
Peter huffed before turning around and ran to the car again. “Love you too, don’t get killed and don’t ruin your new carpet with blood this time.” After he said that, he ran into the building. He wishes he could dig a hole and hide right now.
(Y/N) feels satisfied after knowing he’s talking to her again. She drove the car, heading to her battleground.
.
.
.
When Peter stepped inside, he saw his colleague chuckled when they looked at him. He tries to act cool and walks towards Wanda table.
Peter felt a big shadow covering him; it made him stop walking. He glanced through his shoulder and saw his boss, Sam, Steve, and Bucky, looking at him with a weird smile.
“Ehm, can I help you sir?” Peter's shoulder became tense; he has never been this close with them.
Bucky put his arms around Peter’s shoulder. “Have you had breakfast Peter?”
“Yea… Waiitt….” Before Peter could finish his answer, Bucky carried his body like a potato sack.
Peter doesn’t understand why he got treated like this. They enter the private room that is only reserved for the elite patron.
Bucky drops Peter to the seat while Sam offers the kid an apple juice. Steve is standing in front of him.
“That was a nice car Peter.”
A light bulb appears in front of Peter; he could figure out what they will ask him about (Y/N).
Peter is right; three of them are curious even before they heard a woman shout towards Peter.
Why?
Because of the car.
Today (Y/N) drove using her car of the day, which is a Lamborghini Aventador.
Even the sound of the car engine made everyone turn their head to see it—no exception for Steve, Bucky, and Sam.
####
Before Peter arrived.
Steve, Bucky and Sam, are already at the restaurant to supervise the working progress. They were heading out after making sure everything was fine until they heard a loud engine sound.
How surprised they were when they saw Peter step out from the car. Steve could see it was a woman who drove the car.
“Hmm, Peter usually drove a bike here.” Said Pietro, who joined them.
“He acts like a poor kid turned out he’s rich.”
They are still looking outside, trying to see who the driver is. Lucky for them the car window rolled down.
Steve almost popped out his eyes when he saw the woman he was longing to meet is the car owner.
“Hmm is that Miss Lilly?” Pietro recognised his favourite customer. His hunch was correct all this time; Peter and she knew each other.
“Bye, I love you!!!”
The adult male gasped when they heard her shout towards Peter.
“Oh my god, Peter is a sugar baby and Miss Lily is his sugar mama.” Pietro gasped.
Steve knocked the bartender's head lightly. “Go help your sister.” Pietro rolled his eyes and left to help Wanda.
Bucky looked at Steve, who had a jealous expression on his face. “Ask the kid.” He knew his friend had been looking for the mysterious girl for weeks, but they found nothing. It turns out the one who gives them the information is here.
.
.
.
“Thank you, it belongs to my sister.”
How relieved Steve was when the word ‘sister’ came out of Peter's mouth.
"You never mention you have older siblings. "
"Step sibling actually."
"Hmm."
"So her name is Lily Parker?" Bucky opened his notebook and put her name in the database. He thought they could find something, but they didn't.
Peter raised his eyebrow.
"Come on Peter, you know what we do. Our boss here is interested in your older sister."
“We didn’t share a last name. Her name is Lily Belcher.”
Bucky immediately types the last name. He smiled after they finally found what they’re looking “Steve, come and take a look at this.”
Steve looks at the screen; he could see her occupation as Special Project Analyst, skills in archery, karate, and Muay Thai.
“In which industries she’s working?” Steve asked Peter.
“Automotive.”
Steve can’t be fooled; this is must be fake info of her. There’s no way an analyst hide a dagger under her dress. There’s a lot of question in his head right now, but he needs to wait until everything is ready.
.
.
.
Peter and others are having lunch together until Vision turn up the TV volume. Usually, they let it on without any voice. But today, breaking news is different because they could see a camera moving and show Brock and his lackey are asleep on the plane runway.
“Today in the middle of the city, there’s a guy riding a horse and shooting a certain group and some witnesses said a female helping him. Then a private jet that belongs to Mr Rumlow got stolen by them. The culprit put the passenger to sleep as you can see.”
The big bosses are laughing out loud in the office; they could hear it from outside.
“Hahaha, who is this guy? Who ever did this to Brock, I owe him a drink.” Bucky has the loudest laugh.
While they were laughing, Peter almost choked to death. He was drinking water when he heard the news—only one brave enough to steal in daylight.
#####
Inside the stolen private jet, a woman treats a wounded male with blood everywhere on his body.
“Does it really necessary to steal from him? There’s a lot of empy jet that we could use.” John Wick is lying on the small couch while closing his eyes because (Y/N) stitching his open injury.
(Y/N) answer while trying to finish her job. “That guys annoyed me, because of him my tea time got ruined.”
John chuckled, hearing her childish reason. “Remind me not to get on your bad side (Y/N).”
Tumblr media
Another day,
Another challenge.
Finally, Steve business re-opened again. He and his friends are welcoming their guest together. But secretly, he’s nervous, thinking if she will come or not. He kept dreaming about her.
“Punk, your girl is here.” Bucky alerts his friend.
Steve turns his head to the entrance. He became dumbfounded at one moment when he saw her step into the building. She was beautiful, and when not smiling, she looked more dazzling, her presence hypnotising her spectators.
“Great party Rogers.” (Y/N) compliment the host party while handed him liquor as a gift.
Steve was surprised when she gave him a gift. “You don’t have too.” He prepared to decline in the polite matter, but Pietro grabs the bottle.
“The Dalmore 62??!!” He almost screamed when he saw the label. Because of his job, he knew a lot of expensive liquor. The one he’s holding is costly. Even with his salary, there’s no way he could buy this drink.
“Thank you Miss Lily.” Pietro looks at Steve with a big smile. “I’ll put this into your collection boss.”
Steve rolled his eyes to his childish bartender, he felt annoyed, but he became less tense when he heard her giggle. He ordered a drink from Pietro assistant for both of them.
The beautiful couple talks like it’s only them who inside the room.
"Lily Belcher is not your real name right?" Steve twirl the whiskey glass in his hand.
"Maybe, why do you think that?"
"Can I know your real name?"
"What are you gonna do about it?"
Steve smirked; he lowered his head to get closer to her ear and whispered something that made her giggle.
"That sounds fun."
"How about a bet? If you win I will tell you my real name."
"But if you win?"
"I'll get free food everytime I come here."
Steve chuckled, then he let out a big laugh. He never thought a girl like her would ask this from him. Somewhat refreshing actually; well, he won't mind if he lost because he could see her every time she came here.
"Deal."
Steve hug her waist intimately. "What exactly is the challenge?"
"How many spies we could find in your party."
Steve looked at her face with a big question mark.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and act playfully in front of him. "Ah, come on Steve I know this grand party also a silent announcement that this place is neutral. Like where the law enforcement and mobsters could enjoy their drink and food together."
Steve was impressed with her judgment.
"My guts tell me you already figure who it is."
She tapped her lips"Yeah, not the police cause they don't want to deal with mobster. My guess is…" She whispers to him, "C.I.A."
Steve gripped his wine glass; he felt annoyed he got an uninvited guest tonight.
"They won't target you tonight. I assure that."
"I fell safe already cause an angel like you guarding me." Steve responded.
(Y/N) laugh bitterly that's what man calls her like love, baby, and another sweet nickname, but after they break up, she gets called bitch, or satan.
"Who could figure who the spies the most won."
"Deal."
(Y/n) is walking away from Steve, but he holds her waist. "Let's do it together." Since he doesn't want to let her wander around, other males will try to flirt with her. Nope, not on his watch.
“I forgot to tell you, there’s a time limit.” (Y/N) move away from his embrace; she taps her watch. “We have 30 minutes. Time is ticking Rogers.”
Steve’s hand felt empty when she stepped away, but he more determined to finish their bet. "Okay."
####
Bucky, Sam, are looking at Steve, who acts like a lovesick puppy. They could tolerate Steve for leaving them to attend to their guest. Since the main reason for today party is to impress her. It seems like the plan is a success. Steve and she are inseparable.
Sarah and Joseph Rogers enter the party together. Usually, Steve would welcome them immediately, but they didn’t see a glimpse of their son.
Sarah approach her son best friend to ask, “Where’s Steve?”
Bucky smiled at her. “He’s with a special guest tonight.”
Joseph smirked since he understands what Bucky just said: “I would like to meet her.”
.
.
.
(Y/N) use her skill to seduce the spies; most of them were unprepared for a beautiful lady like her to approach them. They are here to get information. Her method was quiet; she put sleeping pills into their drinks. One by one, the spies excuse themselves to the bathroom to wash their face. That’s where (Y/N) knocked them down.
While Steve uses his status as the host party. He is a proper host; he gave a warm welcome to the spies. The spies knew they are done. They want to refute, but they are already in the wrong since they fake the invitation. Steve is considerate and doesn’t want to make a scene asking them to go back to their car.
When Steve walks behind the spies, he sees her already standing leaning to the car.
“20 minutes, not bad. How many that you found?”
“Three.” Her finger pointed to the three male who fell asleep.
Steve smirked. “Four.”
“No way.”
“Look like I won.”
(Y/N) clicked her tongue. “How?”
“I have the upper hand from the beginning since I’m the owner. I knew who the guests were and the people who work under me.”
“Ah, I haven’t checked the kitchen. My dress-code won’t allow me to enter.”
Steve nodded. “There’s one waiter who I've never seen before, he works alongside Pietro, your favourite bartender.”
The spies felt like a light bulb for the couple; they excuse themselves quietly by dragging their team, who fell asleep, back into their car and drive away. They bet the couple doesn’t notice nor seem to care about their presence. It’s uncomfortable watching the mob boss flirting.
They were right; the couple doesn’t care at all. They went back to the building where Steve takes her to the terrace; he already arranged it to be beautiful; he requests to make the light illuminate the flower perfectly.
“So my mysterious guest would you tell me your name?”
Under the light, Steve saw her beautiful smile “(Y/N) Parker. I’m pretty sure you already know about me and Peter.”
Steve nodded. “He’s lucky to have a beautiful sister like you and your name sounds perfect to my ear.”
He put his arm around her waist and leaned his head near her ear. She could feel his breath kinda tickle her neck. “(Y/N), what kind of reward will you give me since I successfully redecorated this place and won the bet today?”
She always likes a straightforward person like Steve. She doesn’t mind his aggressive touch. This time it (Y/N) turns to whisper in his ear. What she said almost made Steve’s leg become jelly. If he didn’t maintain his self-esteem, he would lose at this moment.
“Oh, I’m sorry I thought this place is empty.” A guest interrupted.
Steve sighed; another one tries to disturb their private moment. He asked her if she wants to come to his house, to which she immediately agreed.
“Not saying goodbye to your brother?”
(Y/N) doesn’t worried about Peter since she taught him lethal self-defence. There’s a lot of sharp weapons if someone tries to hurt him. “He’s fine.”
Both of them get into the car; Steve drives back to his place.
When they headed to their destination, they got attacked again. (Y/N) and Steve’s make-out session got disturbed.
‘BANG’
Both of them knew it’s a bullet that hit Steve’s car. He already prepared for this kind of attack, all of his car already modified with bulletproof.
Guess who? Brock, he’s made a fuss since he didn’t get the invitation.
Steve felt guilty looking at his date, but his worries are all gone when he saw her look excited.
“Keep driving.”
“What?”
(Y/N) hand move to touch Steve blazer that made him shocked because of her hand touching his abs.
“(Y/N) now is not the time.” Steve hold his breath.
(Y/N) she laughed because Steve seemed misunderstood; she didn’t say anything that made him more frustrated. If the situation is different, he wouldn’t mind.
Her finger found Steve’s gun that attached to his belt. “I’m going to borrow this for a moment.”
“That’s dangerous, let’s stop here.”
Before he stops the car, (Y/N) opens the window; her body still stays on the seat; she puts out her right that holds the gun. She saw her target through the car window.
“Drive to the left a little bit Steve.”
“What?”
“Now.”
Steve does as she told. It gave her a clear shot at Brock's car.
‘BOOM.’
Steve gasped, his head kept turning back, looking at the scene; with just one shot Brock’s car tire got shot that made them lose control and hit the concrete barrier.
He finally able to stop his car. “That was a big crash.”
(Y/N) felt proud with just one bullet, she able to ruin the car chase. “If they die, that’s on them.”
“You’re amazing.” Steve grabbed her cheeks and brought her head closer to him so he could kiss her. It’s been a long time since he gets excited like this.
‘I never met a woman like you.’
They only been together for hours but Steve already felt the connection. And tonight even though there’s a lot of distraction, he could be himself when she stay beside him.
He hope she would be the last one.
So they drive back to his place and do the deeds.
(BANG! BANG! BANG!)
While the couple is enjoying their intimate moment, the atmosphere quite different in C.I.A HQ.
‘THUD’ The sound of a pile of document being smashed to the table made the people who stand fidget a bit. They put their head down since they too scared looking at their boss.
“DAMN IT!!!”
“It was perfect, but all of you failed the mission. How?”
The person who just punched the table and screamed at her subordinate is Peggy Carter, also Steve ex-girlfriend. They were together in the military, but they broke up after Steve decided to work with his father.
She is pissed that her plan to get her people to be the informant for the mob, using the party tonight, has failed.
C.I.A has trying to get dirt from Steve group; they even use Peggy to fool Steve since they had a history together. Peggy uses this mission to make Steve quit being a mobster boss, but it’s such a difficult task to change his mind. Her mission was failed when Natasha found out.
Peggy knew she’s finished when Natasha confronted her.
Her betrayal hurt Steve, and he banned her from stepping into his territory.
“Who found you?”
“The big boss.”
“Argh, that even worse.”
“And there’s one more that is helping him. She’s the one who put the other three to sleep.”
“She?” Peggy raised her eyebrows.
“Yeah and a pretty one. This is the first time we've seen her with Rogers.”
“Have you found out who it is?”
“We use facial recognition, her name is Lilly Belcher.” One of the agents gives her a document.
She read the file “She looks innocent to be with Steve.”
‘and beautiful’
Peggy clenched her fist when she looked at the photo. The break-up left bitterness in her heart. From the story, she heard from her agents, seems like this woman is strong and doesn't mind playing along with Steve. The totally opposite of their relationship.
'Perhaps he found his right partner.'
Peggy doesn't like that idea “I won’t let you have a happy ending Steve.”
Over Protective
Request: Could do image were she dating Dustin in secret and her sibling is Steve Harrington. She sneaks out to see Dustin and then she come back to see Steve sitting on her bed then Steve spots a few hickeys on her neck and he asks her about and she denies it. Then Steve calls robin because he freaking out. He invite her over and Dustin for like a dinner then he see them on Dustin’s neck. Then start being like an over protective brother and talking to them about it. ~anonymous
a/n: thank you so much for your request anon! it’s my first request so i hope you enjoy! i also aged up Dustin to be 16 bc i felt weird writing this with him being like 13. enjoy!
pairing: Dustin Henderson x Harrington!Reader x Steve Harrington
word count: 1.9k
summary: Steve is overly protective of his little sister and when he sees a hickey on her, he’s furious
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N hated sneaking around. When she and Dustin started dating, Dustin had suggested they keep it a secret. It’s not that he was embarrassed or wanted to hide it but they didn’t want their friends to tease them (especially Max and Lucas), but also because of Y/N’s brother. Being Steve Harrington’s younger sister meant that he was super over protective, especially when it came to dating. Steve knew what guys could be like so he made sure that he kept boys away from her. “I’m sixteen now Stevie” she began. “I am old enough to start dating. Besides, you didn’t act like this when Mike and Eleven got together” she finished, crossing her arms angrily. “Thats different!” Steve replied. “You are my baby sister and I don’t want anybody to…corrupt you!” Y/N laughed. “Corrupt me?! You are worse than dad!” “No boys until you’re thirty, and thats final!” he said, pointing an accusatory finger at her. She rolled her eyes and stomped up the stairs to her bedroom, slamming the door after her. No matter how annoyed she was, even an argument with her brother was not going to ruin this day for her. It was her and Dustin’s two month anniversary. Although it wasn’t a super long time to be with someone, it was still a big deal for her because it was her first relationship.
“Hey I procrastinated doing my English essay for Mr. Hartman so I’m gonna be in my room trying to do it so don’t bother me” Y/N called down the stairs to her brother. “Yup got it” Steve replied, not looking up from the TV. Brilliant. With Steve distracted and her alibi set, she could sneak out to go meet Dustin. She ran back up to her room and changed into her favorite pair of jeans, t-shirt and a red sweater, and sneakers. She carefully opened her window and climbed out, standing on the sloped roof beneath her. She propped the window open with her Science textbook and climbed down. She then hopped on her bike and rode to Dustin’s house. When she was half way there she realized she had forgotten to lock her door. “No matter,” she thought. “Steve is so engrossed in his TV show he won’t check on me for at least four hours”.
Once she arrived, she hopped of her bike and climbed up to Dustin’s window. She knocked on it lightly. Moments later, the curly haired boy appeared at the window, smiling. He opened the window for her and helped her climb in. Dustin turned on the radio and the two began laughing and talking, simply enjoying each other’s company. After a while, the two began to get a bit hot and heavy and started making out. They hadn’t gone much further than this and Dustin respected her decision to wait. Besides, he was enjoying being with a girl as beautiful, smart, and funny as Y/N Harrington. “You are incredible, you know that?” he said to her as they pulled away. She smiled and shook her head. “How did I get so lucky?” The two smiled at each other for another few moments before Dustin’s face dropped. “Oh shit. Oh shit oh shit oh shit I’m sorry” he said, panic filling his voice. “What? What is is?” Y/N said, sitting up. “I left a pretty obvious mark on your neck. I swear I didn’t mean to” he said. She stood up and went over to a mirror on the other side of his room. Sure enough, a purple mark was appearing on her neck. She pulled her shirt down and counted two more, each more purple than the last. “Shit” she said. “I can hide the ones on my chest but this guy,” she said pointing to the love bite her neck, “no way”.
She turned to face the boy and started to laugh a bit. “Why are you laughing?! If Steve sees it he’ll kill you! Oh my god what if he finds out it was me?” he said, even more panicked than before. “He probably will babe, but, you aren’t exactly mark free either”. He went pale and joined her at the mirror, examining his neck. “I’ll just wear a turtle neck tomorrow or cover it with makeup. It’ll be fine” She looked at her watch. 8 o’clock. Damn. “Hey I gotta get home. I only give Steve like a four hour window of focus on that TV before he comes to check on me. “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow” Dustin said, giving her a hug and kissing her sweetly. Little did Y/N know, Steves focus had worn off much sooner than she had anticipated.
At 7:30, Steve got bored of whatever dumb program had started, and decided to go check on his sister. She usually talked to herself when she did homework and it had been unusually quiet in her room. He walked up the stairs and knocked on her door. There was no reply. He knocked again. “Hey Y/N, you alright in there?”. He was puzzled. He opened her door and was shocked to find her room empty. “Are you trying to play a prank on me? Are you gonna jump out of the closet or something?” Still no response. Then he spotted it. The textbook in the window. A classic Harrington move. Steve couldn’t believe it. His little sister had really snuck out and he hadn’t noticed! He decided he would sit on her bed and wait for her to sneak back in. He waited about thirty minutes before he heard the breathless girl climbing up the side of the house.
When she reached the window and opened it, her heart dropped into her stomach. “What do you think you are doing?” Steve said, pulling his little sister back into her room. “What are you doing in my room?” she retorted. “My question first” he said. Thinking on her toes, Y/N came up with a lie to explain her disappearance. “I wanted to hang out with Max and Elle without you breathing down my neck okay!” she said. She suddenly remembered that her hickey was visible above her sweater and covered her neck with her hand as casually as possible. “Hey, hey what are you hiding?” He moved her hand and felt his face go red. “What is that?!” he boomed. She pushed him away, trying to come up with another lie. “Get off! It’s just a curling iron burn! The girls were curling their hair and when I went to try I burned myself!” That made sense right? Steve squinted at her suspiciously. He knew a hickey when he saw one. “I am gonna find out who did this and I’m gonna kill them” Steve said. “I told you it’s a burn! Now get out of my room!” She yelled, pushing her older brother out of the door. “Just tell me his name!” Steve shouted. She slammed the door in his face. Steve was fuming. They had the boyfriends argument before but this was a new level. Steve did the only thing he could think of. He called his best friend Robin.
“Hey Popeye” Robin said. “Whats going-” “No time Robin, we have an issue” Steve interrupted. “What is it Harrington?” she said. “I caught Y/N sneaking back into her room through a window and she had a hickey! What am I going to do?! I need your help to figure out who the hell did this to my baby sister!” There was a moment of silence and then laughter from Robin. “First of all, relax. It’s just a hickey. You were probably like ten when you had your first one so get some perspective” “I was twelve” he said. “Don’t interrupt me” she continued. “Secondly, why do you care? She’s sixteen now. You have to loosen up.” Steve sighed. “I guess you’re right”. “Also I know who she’s dating”. “What?!” Steve shouted. “Tell me now!” “Fine fine don’t get your panties in a twist” Robin said. “But you have to promise not to do anything drastic.” “Fine fine I promise just tell me”. He said. “Henderson” she said. Steve was silent. Henderson?! Of all people she chose Henderson! I guess it wasn’t as bad as he had expected, after all, he liked Dustin. “What are you gonna do Steve? I can hear your brain exploding” she said. She was met with more silence. “Just invite him over and talk to him or something. Just don’t make it weird.” “Right yeah thanks Robin. I’ll see you tomorrow” he said, hanging up the phone. Thats what he would do. He would invite Dustin over tomorrow and interrogate him.
The next day he called the Henderson house. “Hey Dustin it’s Steve” “Oh uh hey Steve, what’s up?” Dustin’s voice was squeaky. Got him. “I need your help with something and I need you to come over.” “Oh yeah uh sure I’ll see you in a few hours and-” “No,” Steve interrupted. “I need your help now, I’ll see you in twenty minutes.” “Okay”. Dustin’s voice was quiet and his nervousness could be felt through the phone. When Dustin finally got to the house, Steve met him at the door. “Henderson, I’m so glad you could come over” Steve said coldly. Dustin didn’t speak as he entered the house. Steve glared at him. “So what did you need my help with?” Dustin asked cautiously. “I need help understanding what the hell you are doing with my sister.” Steve said. His arms were crossed and he stood blocking the door, blocking any hope of escape for Dustin. “Hey Stevie who’s at the door?” Y/N asked, having heard the knock from her room. “Oh hey Dustin what’s up?” she said casually. “Oh no no you aren’t fooling me” Steve said. “I wanna know what’s going on here” Y/N rolled her eyes. “Did you call Robin last night? Damn I knew I shouldn’t have told her.” She finished walking down the stairs and stepped beside Dustin, clasping his hand in hers. “No no no, none of that” Steve said, trying to break them apart. “Steve relax seriously, you are way too worked up about this” Y/N said. Steve sighed. “I just don’t want you to get hurt” he said. She let go of Dustin’s hand and put her hands on Steve’s shoulders. “I know that but this whole over protective brother act is suffocating”. Steve nodded. “If it helps, I have no intention of breaking up with Y/N and honestly, the past two months have been some of the happiest months of my life” Dustin added. Steve looked up at him suddenly. “TWO MONTHS??” he yelled. He lunged at Dustin, Y/N stepping between them before they collided.“Woah Stevie, chill take a deep breath”. She pushed him back.
“Okay okay I can deal with this, this is fine” Steve muttered under his breath. “But, we need to make some ground rules. No closed doors and no sneaking anybody in anywhere. You come in through the front door and make your presence known!” Steve said, pointing towards the door. The two teens nodded. “Okay…” Steve ran his hand through his hair. “I think I can get behind this but I’m gonna need some time to process.” He lowered himself down onto the couch. Y/N and Dustin looked at each other with smirking expressions. “Okay Steve…you just take your time. We’ll just be upstairs.” Y/N said, slowly leading Dustin upstairs. “Yeah…okay…but I want that door open!” He yelled after them. The two teens laughed and ran the rest of the way up the stairs. Steve shook his head. “Crazy kids” he said, chuckling a bit as he realized he was glad that if his sister had to date anyone, it would be Dustin Henderson.

Fuck Off, Excuse Me Part 6
A/N: I can’t sleep so I thought I would try to write, dudes my bad for not continuing this sooner… I lack inspo and motivation plus I have no fucking clue where this is going
Anyways, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 are all linked here if anyone has forgotten what the hell is going on in this verse cause I sure as heck don’t remember.
It’s Saturday night and Courtney’s a nervous wreck, for once it’s not over exams. It’s about a boy, her soulmate to be exact, and they’re going on their first date together. She tries to calm herself as Cate helps her get ready for whatever it is Duncan has planned. She’s a bit annoyed that he wouldn’t tell her anything about wherever it is they’re going, the fact that Cate is keeping quiet despite her whining isn’t helping either. She swears everyone is turning against her to take Duncan’s side, where’s their loyalty? She needs to consider finding new people to hang out with, maybe she should take a page out of his book and bond with Phia since her friends are all traitors.
“All done! You look super cute Sissy! Have fun, and stay out as late as you want!”
“There’s no way Mom and Dad would be okay with that.”
“They’re not even home this weekend, who cares. Just enjoy yourself!”
“I’m not making any promises.”
“There’s the doorbell, he’s here! Come on Court!”
Cate eagerly drags her sister down the stairs, opening the door to see a casually dressed Duncan. Good thing she didn’t dress up for their outing either, but that was largely due to Cate’s meddling. He greets her normally asking if she’s ready to go, she simply nods as she follows him outside to his bike. She admits enjoying the ride as she keeps her arms wrapped tightly around his waist. Being around him always brings a warm feeling in her heart, the soulmate effect is too powerful, so much so that she wonders why there are those who do not end up with their destined lovers. Lost in her thoughts, she doesn’t notice they’ve arrived until she sees the huge crowd of people around them.
“Duncan? Are we…”
“Cate said you like music, and my old band happened to be playing here tonight, we’ll have special treatment.”
“Bold of you to assume we have the same music taste.”
“I guess we’ll see, won’t we?”
He takes her hand pulling her inside the venue where they’re ushered into the VIP area much to the dismay of the crowd waiting outside. Their first stop is at the bar with Duncan ordering their drinks. She declines since they’re not of age yet, but he tells her she needs to loosen up. She still refuses to partake in underage drinking, until he calls her a chicken and bets she can’t handle herself. Naturally this prompts her to try and prove him wrong, she downs the beer in one go leaving him stunned.
“So, the Princess has a dark side.”
“My soulmate is a delinquent, I can’t be that innocent.”
“You continue to surprise me, Courtney.”
Her heart pounds hearing her actual name on his lips, his eyes softening as he gives a genuine smile. Maybe she shouldn’t have drank all that alcohol so quickly, she can feel her face heat up. He points it out immediately, telling her how cute he thinks she is, this only makes her blush even more. She turns away in embarrassment, not used to seeing this side of him.
“We’re going to miss the show if we keep standing here… don't you want to see your former band mates?”
“We have plenty of time, they’re always late, but we can go to our section if you want.”
She allows him to pull her away behind the restricted access sign. They’re up on the balcony overlooking the stage as people begin to file in for the concert. She finds that she’s actually excited about attending a live music session again, she hasn’t been since her own band broke up.
“Wait, you were in a band too?”
“Only for a few months, our personalities clashed too much.”
“I mean, with a name like the Type A’s I'm surprised you didn’t kill each other.”
“There were a few close calls… oh hey, I think they’re starting.”
It’s an odd feeling to be at a concert where she doesn’t recognize any of the songs, but she tries to not let it bother her too much. Subconsciously tapping to the beat, she listens to the lyrics and discovers they’re not bad at all. She isn’t a fan of every song, but there are a few that she would probably consider adding to her playlist. She makes a mental note to ask Trent if he’s heard of this band.
“So… what did you think?”
“They’re actually not terrible, dare I say I kinda like them?”
“I knew it! Admit it, Court, we have more in common than you thought.”
“I guess I can tolerate your existence a little more now.”
“I’ll take whatever I can get. You wanna meet the guys?”
“I wouldn’t mind, I’m sure you’re dying to catch up with them.”
She expects to feel out of place amongst his friends, but that wasn’t the case at all. They all immediately accepted her without question, making her feel welcome just as Phia did during their first meeting. She has to hold back her emotions, she’s not used to people being so kind to her without ulterior motives. There’s a reason why she only has two friends beside her sister.
He brings her back before midnight without her having to remind him of her self imposed curfew. He tells her he doesn’t want to push her past her limits, he’s already proud that she let her guard down around him and enjoyed herself. She doesn’t realize the weight on her shoulder she’s been carrying over the past month has been lifted until he points out how relaxed she looks. If he can bring out this side of her from just a handful of meetings, maybe it’s not such a bad idea to fall for him. There has to be a reason fate decided to bring them together right?
“Thanks for tonight, Duncan. I had a lot of fun, it’s been a while.”
“It’s nice to see you smile more, you look prettier when you do. Good night Courtney. I’ll see you Monday at school.”
“Good night Duncan.”
He leans in to hug her, the smell of his scent lingers in the air even after she closes the door. She has a huge smile on her face as she walks up the stairs, careful not to wake Cate up. It isn’t until she’s laying in her bed that she realizes he didn’t try to kiss her, and truth be told, she’s a bit disappointed he didn’t.

Tumblr media
“If you think I'm believing a single thing you just said to me, you're out of your mind.”
She said, shaking her head at the taller boy as she wiped the counter.
"I'm telling the truth!” He persisted, glancing around the room before leaning closer to her to whisper, "you know, she's gay too."
She only rolled her eyes in response, turning away from him to start sorting the returned vcr's that had come in.
It hadn’t been the first time Steve had tried to play a prank on her, and she was smart enough to know when she was being played with.
"Yeah, okay, dingus."
He huffs when she dismisses him again, throwing an old receipt that was laying around on the counter at her, sticking his tongue out like a child.
"Believe it or not, Buckley, it's true. My sister - my twin sister - is coming to have lunch with me today."
"I guess I'll believe it when I see it."
-
Even though she told him that she didn't believe him earlier that morning that he had a sister (a twin sister to be more exact), Robin had been on the lookout for the other Harrington sibling.
If she even did exist.
Imagining a more feminine version of Steve, she had to wonder if you two shared the same personality. If you were just as confident and outspoken as your counterpart, or if you were the complete opposite.
She didn't really know what to expect, but when the time finally came and you walked through the door, all expectations Robin had flown out the window.
While Steve's style was more casual with his plain t-shirts, light-washed denim jeans and thin bomber jacket (Robin swore she'd never seen him wear any other jacket) - you on the other hand, were the complete opposite of your brother.
There you were, wearing a black t-shirt with some rock band that Robin had never heard of before, paired with black jeans that were ripped at the knees. The worn leather jacket around your shoulders making you look so out of place, yet the air of confidence you had around you made it feel like you owned the place.
The similarities were there, it wasn't hard to see that you two were clearly siblings, but that didn't stop Robin from glancing back and forth between the two of you.
“You ready for lunch, Steve?” You questioned, pushing the sunglasses currently resting on your nose up to your hair as you walked to the counter where Steve and Robin currently were. ”I’m not waiting all day for you."
Your older brother tutted and shook his head, and Robin could only stand there in shock because no way were you two related.
Absolutely no way.
"I'm still older than you, Y/N/N," He chided you playfully, before turning to face her. "By the way, this is the Robin I was telling you about.”
You turned your gaze to her direction and nodded your head in acknowledgement of Robin’s presence. She said nothing as you rested your forearms on the counter, the action alone making her cheeks heat up because how can one sibling be so smooth and the other so hopeless?
Also, Steve had told you about her?
“First of all, you’re only older by 20 minutes,” You retorted, narrowing your eyes facetiously at your older brother.
"And secondly," You begin, turning your attention back to Robin (who at this point was still standing there with her jaw lax at the interactions between the two of you). "It's nice to meet you."
If you were shocked by Robin suddenly grabbing Steve by the arm and saying yeah, wow, okay, Steve can I talk to you for a second? you didn't show it, allowing your brother to be dragged away to what you assumed was the back room.
"That's your sister?"
Steve had the audacity to look smug, and if it wasn't for her having a mental panic she would've punched him in the arm to get rid of the smirk on his face.
"I told you she was real."
She could only huff in retaliation. He was right. He did tell her that you were real, but he forgot to mention just how much of a character you were.
Besides, wouldn't it be a little weird to be attracted to her co-worker/friend’s younger sister?
"Fine, she is real, but you didn't tell me she was--"
"The complete opposite of me?" The taller boy teased, thoroughly enjoying watching this flustered side of Robin come to light. "Wouldn’t have guessed that bad girls were your type, Robin."
If Robin wasn’t red before, she definitely was now.
"It’s not my fault your sister is hotter and has more game than you do, Harrington.”
-
Robin followed Steve back out to the front, still obviously flustered that Steve had easily called her out on her visible attraction towards you.
Unknowingly to her, the taller boy already had something planned up his sleeves.
“I’m ready to go for lunch, but I just have one question for you, Y/N/N," He says, clapping his hands together as he approached you.
"Are you free on Saturday?”
Robin watches you look up from where you had been sitting, eyebrows furrowing in question.
“Yeah, I guess? I’m going to be in town for a little while. Why?”
Instead of answering your question, Steve nodded before facing her, that annoying, knowing smirk back on his face.
"What about you, Robin?"
“Yeah?"
The two of you could only watch as Steve grinned, the expression on his face only making you more confused while Robin felt the heat in her cheeks rise once again as he made eye contact with her.
"Perfect! Unfortunately, I have a shift on Saturday, but you two have fun on your date.”
“Date?”
“Date?”
She expected you to refuse, after all, who accepts to go on a date with someone you've never met before?
She expected you to roll your eyes and berate your brother, Robin already imagining how you would tell Steve to stop playing around, I came here so we could get food.
Honestly, she expected you to do anything other than say yes.
But when you only shrug your shoulders, and turn to face Robin, you surprise both her and your brother by tilting your head to the side and smiling.
“I've never turned down a date with a pretty girl," You say, with a grin that could rival the sun (but Robin thinks she's a little biased when she thinks that). "What do you say, Robin?”
She looked at Steve (who merely winked at her, and she knows that he's deliberately playing match maker) before back to you.
It didn’t help that you weren’t bad to look at, scratch that, Robin knew she was attracted to you the moment you walked into the store.
One date couldn’t hurt right?
"I guess it's a date.”
-
I'm going to kill Steve.
She doesn't normally wake up with murder on her mind, but the fact that your date was only a few hours away, she couldn't help but blame the nerves on the person who had set up the whole thing.
As much as she wanted to call you throughout the week and cancel the date, very much regretting the fact that she agreed to this date without a second thought, she knew that Steve would talk her ear off about how she ditched his sister and frankly, she’d rather just get the date over and done with if it meant he would shut up.
So when you showed up at her door at exactly 6 o'clock and not a minute late, just like you told her, Robin tried to ignore the nerves that had been present ever since she woke up that morning.
“Hop on.” You told her while holding out a black helmet. You were still wearing that worn leather jacket (what was it about the Harrington's and never owning any other jacket?) that made her speechless the first time she saw you.
“You want me to get on that?”
She watched you glance down at the 1982 Triumph motorbike that you were currently straddling, before looking back at her with a raised brow.
“Yes? Come on, I’m won’t let anything happen to you.” You say, gesturing to the helmet again while you gave her a comforting smile.
You only smiled wider when she took a step further, helping her put the helmet on and securing it on her head. Robin hoped that you couldn't see the way her cheeks had heated up when your fingers brushed against the underside of her chin, but the way you were still watching her with an admiring smile on your features.
“I’m holding you to your word, Harrington.” She mumbled, taking your offered hand to help her get on the seat.
“Just keep your arms around me, and we’ll be there before you know it.” She heard you say while you position her arms around your waist.
She couldn't help but lean into you when you situated her arms around you, the closeness of your bodies making her heart race a little. For someone who looked so intimidating on the outside, the more she was around you the more she could see that it was just a façade.
-
"You cold, Buckley?”
She watches you secure your bike and put the helmets away, all while having a smirk on your face. If she ever doubted you and Steve were siblings before, the smirk definitely said it all.
The sun had gone down by the time you arrived, and it didn’t help that the wind whipping past while you were driving made it feel like Robin had just walked into a freezer.
"Shut up."
You let out a small laugh, but nevertheless you shrug off your jacket. Taking a few steps to stand by her side, draping the heavy fabric over her shoulders.
“There, now you won’t get cold.”
Robin swore she’d blushed more around you in the thirty minutes she'd spent with you than she had in her whole life.
She felt her pinkie brush against yours, and before she could think about whether or not you would think it was too forward of her if she were to hold your hand, you had already laced your fingers with hers, the warm of your palm tethering her to the moment.
“Rides first then food? That way we don’t throw up anything we eat.”
All she could do was nod and let you lead the way.
-
Maybe it was because you were Steve’s sister, or that she barely knew you that Robin doesn't want to admit just how much she doesn't want the day with you to end.
Maybe.
The blush that stained Robin’s cheeks from the moment you helped her put the helmet on refused to go away even after hours had passed since then.
As much as she tried to deny it, she loved being pampered by you during your time together.
The whole night you were there by her side. With you hand in hers, or on her side, or on her arm, you made sure that she knew that you were by her side the whole time.
For all your tough guise you liked to show, you sure weren't afraid of looking like a complete fool trying to win her a big bear in one of those impossible basketball games where the hoop is too small for the ball to fit in.
She liked you.
More than she'd liked to admit.
But she had to remind herself that you weren’t staying for long. That no matter how much fun she had with you, you wouldn’t be in Hawkins forever.
"Are you staying in Hawkins for long, Y/n?”
With her hand still in yours, she tightened her grip just a little while she met your eyes.
If you could hear the reluctance in her voice you didn’t show it, only squeezing her hand back in return.
"I wasn't planning on staying for long," You admit.
“I’ve never really been one to stay in one place for too  long but something's telling me that maybe I should."
She could practically hear Steve already teasing her for being ‘lovesick’ for his sister, but with the way you were looking at her now - with such warmth, like whatever was budding between you two was something that you wanted to last.
"You should."
If the smile you gave her, told her anything, it was that she wanted this to last too.
