Handler - Sylvia Sherwood

We'll start with side characters associated with WISE, the Westalian spy organisation who directs missions aimed at maintaining world peace. Think MI6 or CIA, but with a penchant for alliterative decryption keys.

Handler is the highest-ranked WISE agent we get to know in the series. She is, in a word, frightening. Anybody who can put Twilight in his place is a force to be reckoned with. Her pet deck would be no different.

Pet Commander: Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines

Your pet deck is often the deck you enjoy playing the most, not necessarily the most powerful one. Not so with Handler: her deck will be streamlined and economised within an inch of its life. If there’s potential for weakness, she will cut it out, which includes mana fixing.

Mono-White decks have the removal, control, and creatures needed to become a serious threat at the table. And Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines is one of the scariest commanders in that identity: she doubles up all of Handler’s enter-the-battlefield (ETB) abilities while shutting down her opponents’. This is a game-defining ability, which is what makes her Handler’s pet commander. Sure, this super-salty commander makes Handler the archenemy at literally every game – but she can deal with attention from hostiles.

Deck Features/Style: Blink & Aggro

A robust Blink/Flicker suite both capitalises on Norn’s triggered ability and serves as a decent form of protection. Handler is the mastermind of a spy agency, so it fits that any target removal will be stymied by slippery instant-speed Flicker effects.

Otherwise, the aggressive operations Handler manages at WISE would translate to an aggressive playstyle in her pet deck. Expect to get hammered by powerful Angels in addition to facing doubled-up ETB abilities.

Here's a bunch of things I'm interested in/things that inspired my art style

Was just thinking about the amount of animals Obi-Wan interacts with compared to literally everyone else and in the Clone Wars episode where Kamino gets attacked he literally gets saved twice by the same ray-like animal and just...

The growth from judging Qui-Gon for the 'pathetic lifeforms' he picks up to whatever he has going on during the Clone Wars era. He must have gotten that from Qui-Gon though, right?

And because it's my brain and it's rotting with all the star wars stuff I am consuming I was thinking of Obi-Wan saving all these creatures and the 212th having to deal with that. Surely they made one of the rooms pet proof in case one of them needs a new home. There also have to be clones who love that because of course Obi-Wan can't really take care of rescues on top of all his duties.

After the first few times this happens Cody learns to order animal food and other necessities. And if the Republic doesn't fulfill these requests or asks too many questions he'll just have to make sure to organize them on planet during the campaigns.

Spy x Family Side Characters

I need a little time to write about pet Commander decks from the next series I'm exploring. While doing this, I was looking at my draft covering decks from Spy x Family side characters. I've already done an examination of the main family, which starts here. I had kinda hoped to save the side characters for when I get my "real" website up.

Series Background, Revisited

Spy x Family is an action/comedy anime based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuya Endo. It’s set in a fictional universe with Cold War-era stylings, with rival countries Westalis and Ostania in a fragile ceasefire after all-out war.

The bulk of the series takes place in the capital of Ostania. Westalis’s spy organisation, WISE, has set up a secret base there, while the Ostanian secret police tries to suss them out. The country’s most prestigious private school, Eden Academy, hosts children of the Ostanian elite and is currently WISE’s means of obtaining critical intel on malefactors who want to bring the countries back into war.

The side characters we'll look at fit into neat little categories: WISE, Eden Academy, and Ostanian "peacemakers."

Format Change

Since we’re going to cover quite a few characters, we’ll skip the focus on colour identity to get straight into commanders and deck strategies.
